I haven't listened to a lot of the podcast yet, so far I like it. But, I listen to a lot of shows and I have always been wondering about them: how do you find the time and energy to do this?
First of all I want to say sorry for letting this rot in the inbox for so long, life has been kinda crazy lately. (I hope you see this answer!)
This is a difficult question, and I feel like it's been simmering in the back of my mind for awhile. For the sake of brevity, I've tried to boil this down to some short points.
I Love Doing It
I love it.
When I was a kid, I'd make up all these fantasy worlds in my head - and my one wish was to be able to explore them with my friends. I'd have these persistent yearnings to wake up in some fantastical adventure, and just be able to experience something new and exciting free from the usual expectations of life.
Obviously, that didn't work out - so playing pretend with my best friends is the closest thing I have, and like I said - I love it, therefore I'm willing to expend a lot of energy on it - often times at the detriment of other parts of my life.
2. My Lifestyle Enables It
I don't want to really get into any personal stuff too much, but basically - I have a good job, I work from home, I have enough breaks in between my work that I can put in some time here and there during work hours to develop the podcast.
Motivation aside - this is a huge part of it. I still ran games when I was busier and had more demanding jobs, but there was definitely not enough time that I would make a podcast out of it (at least, an edited one).
Editing the episodes, making music, trying to maintain the blog takes up a chunk of time that honestly, I wish I didn't have to worry about, and there are still a lot of things I could be doing better. (Promoting, making more music, etc). But I am very lucky to be able to do even this much.
3. Release Schedule
Having a two week release schedule has been essential to push me to produce this. Without that consistent deadline, I think things would have fallen apart.
(I am extremely glad I didn't do a weekly release schedule, I'd have burnt out so quick.)
4. I Crave Validation
Up until probably my mid-20's, I was afraid to share what I wrote. It was a mix of self-consciousnesses, doubt, shame, etc.
What I realized was that I wasn't afraid of sharing my work, I was afraid of sharing my work and having my fears about being a bad writer confirmed.
Ultimately, I realized that the chance to share my work with people, and interact with a wider audience was worth the risk of having people not like it.
Even just being able to say "I am making this thing, you can find it here" is really good for my self esteem. It feels like I'm creating proof of my creativity, instead of just squirreling it away.
So, here we are. It's been worth it - being able to know people are interested in the show, seeing the questions that come in, being able to interact with other creators.
-----
That's it, but anyways hope that at least partially answered the question. Hope it wasn't too rambly!
As always, thank you for writing in - it really does mean a lot to me.

For our first installment, I’ll be covering the first decade of this blog, the 1920s. When I I think of this era, I envision the roaring twenties, full of flapper dresses and glamorous time in fashion. A period full of parties in a world seen through rose-tinted glasses. I think of overindulgence and socialites. Of course, art is a representation of culture, they go hand in hand. Fashion reflects the times, and if there is one thing about this era in fashion, it reflects its optimistic and almost carefree culture. Now, enough of my rambling, onto my favourite parts of 1920s fashion.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is when Coco Chanel made the flapper dresses we all associate with the twenties especially popular. This dress style can be seen above worn by Joan Crawford, a Broadway icon of the times. During this decade, the go-to party dress was straight with a dropped waistline, low cut back, square neckline, and was often decorated with strings of shiny beads and jewelry.
Oddly enough, the hemlines were not as short as you'd expect in a dress like this. Honestly I think the longer hemline fits better with the dress because it already has such a low cut back. It would be too much otherwise. I think the hemline fits with the dress, the best advice in fashion is you don't want 20 dresses in 1 dress. I remember my mother's tailor saying this just about every single time she was getting a dress made. That is something that will always stay with me. An outfit has to be harmonious, and harmonious the flapper dress is. The beads and decorations are flashy, but not too much. I really cannot stand overly flashy clothing, it just ends up looking tacky. It's fun and it's free but not too crazy, just like the lifestyle. Although they’re not very fitted (straight cut), I still think they’re very stylish and elegant. If I lived during this time period, I would absolutely be wearing flapper dresses on a night out. I'd honestly pick them over a lot of the styles we have today. Simplicity is key.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of course, no party dress is complete without a decadent shawl or coat, which they definitely loved to wear during this time. I completely adore this idea. I think it adds an additional dimension to the look and really just makes it that much more glamorous. These coats never fail to remind me of a book that I absolutely love, entitled Tender is The Night by Scott Fitzgerald because of how rich they are. I remember reading it for the first time in grade 9 and thinking what a time the roaring twenties must have been. Oddly enough, I also get reminded of the third season of The Vampire Diaries where the characters revisit their time in the 20s.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, the important thing to note about the 1920s is this is when fashion started becoming more accessible. Clothing was no longer a status symbol. I for one love this idea, and I think it's nice to see a time where everyone was presentable all the time because that was the standard. Personally I love the feeling of being put together. Otherwise, I feel like a mess, and I think overall everyone just looks better when they're in a proper outfit. At this time, women wore dresses at the time, with lots of accessories, whether it be hats, purses, jewelry, or whatever else. It's strange now to see people wearing hats all the time, and quite eccentric ones at that, but I truly adore the idea. It makes me think of the one scene in Breakfast at Tiffanys (yes, I know it takes place during the 1960s) where Audrey Hepburn is walking down the street in a red coat with a matching hat. That outfit will forever be iconic to me because accessories take an outfit to another level. A simple straight-cut dress becomes a fun look with the right heels, hat, and jewelry. That is the key to the 1920s look. That’s what I believe to be the best fashion tip out there. And of course, don't be afraid to make it a little fun. We'd all do well to remember that sometimes.
Until next time, xx.

So uuuh I remembered you mentioning in a Mikoto post how Orekoto seems to refers to Haruka as just "Haruka" whereas boku-Mikoto calls him "Haru-kun". And earlier I was going back through all the Minigrams and in episode 34, Mikoto uses "boku" (僕) AND calls Haruka just "Haruka" so I wanted to know if you had any kind of thoughts on this because atp I'm just lost 😭
The explanations I can think about are : 1) the two alters were co-fronting so the two alters ways of talking mesh together 2) Orekoto just has had an influence on Mikoto as a whole and now Mikoto also adresses Haruka as "Haruka" in general instead of "Haru-kun" 3) it's actually Orekoto fronting but he's"masking" by taking on the host's manners
I guess it's not that big of a deal but it still bugged me slightly and since first heard of Mikoto's alter showing up in Minigram through your blog I thought I'd ask
Yeah, I re-blogged something recently that brings up that idea it's not the first thing to though. Many people have pointed it out over the course of Milgram. I'm assuming the post you're referencing is this one here.
To keep a long story short like you said in your follow up ask I did not write that I just re-blogged it from someone else.
Edit: I have since taken down that reblog and as such have linked to the original post above instead. I prefer not being asked why I did that. (I've also edited this again to fix formatting and spelling errors. 08/22/23)
Again, I'm assuming what you're referring to is this part,
Tumblr media
There are other verbal differences between how Mikoto and the other one speaks. Mikoto proper referring to Haruka as Haru-kun is one of the more obvious ones.
We see this illustrated throughout the portal timeline repeatedly,
20/06/05
Haruka: Ah…… ah, u-um, Mikoto-san. The c-communication……? thing, that you were saying was important I-I thought, I’d give it my best…… Um, so, Mikoto-san, what’s your favourite food……?
Mikoto: Ooh? Nice going, Haru-kun~ Yeah, we still have no idea how long this lifestyle will go on for, so it’s best if we all get along together here. My favourite food…… I like pasta and horse-meat sashimi. Also bubble tea, and recently I’ve been big on custard puddings. What about you?
Haruka: ……ah, I, I wonder…… H-hamburg steak, and omurice, a-and also…… what else? Ah. Cotton candy……
Mikoto: C-cotton candy!? That’s the first time I’ve met someone who has that in their top three favourites!? ……man, Haru-kun, you really are hilarious.
22/10/06 (Mikoto’s Birthday)
Haruka: Mikoto-san. Um, are you ok……?
Mikoto: Ah, Haru-kun. It's been a while since we last talked, huh. Yeah, I'm fine. Are you doing ok......?
Haruka: Ah, I’m fine. I’ve been enjoying myself, a lot. Um, I’m sorry, for avoiding you. I was a bit scared. Of you, honestly……
Mikoto: Ahhh, yeah. I’ve been lashing out whenever I go to sleep, right? ……it’s fine. Even I think you’re right to be scared. You know, I kinda just hate that I don’t even know what’s going on myself…… haha. Ah, but despite all that you still came and talked to me because it’s my birthday, right? Thank you, you’ve grown into a good man.
Mikoto is also the one shown and stated to be the one who gives other people nicknames. He is shown doing so off the bat with Mahiru.
20/05/25
Mikoto: ……I’ve really got caught up in some trouble, huh. What even is this place? It’s probably a TV reality show or something. ……but to think someone in this day and age would try to do a project that could land them in so much trouble. Uh……
Mahiru: Ah…… I’m Shina Mahiru! You can just call me Mahiru. And you are……?
Mikoto: Kayano Mikoto. I’m fine with just Mikoto too. Ahh, I’m glad there’s someone here who’s easy to talk to…… It’s nice to meet you, Mappy.
Mahiru: ………… ……Mappy???
He's also the one to refer to the prisoners by nickname in his first trial Interrogation.
"See? Like, Yun-chan and Mucchan, are just high school girls, Haru-kun looks like someone who can't hurt a fly, and Futa would be an umbrella thief at worst."
And states this when asked about it during his first trial interrogation,
Q.09 Why do you give everyone nicknames?
Mikoto: I guess it became a habit when I was at university. Having a nickname for someone that only you call them comes with a lot of advantages, do recommend.
Even though it seems to follow the rules stated within the other post this is not some hard rule. It is just an observation.
We've seen in Milgram through other prisoners that they can switch up honorifics or not use them at their discretion. Just as people in real life can. For example, Yuno with Mu.
Yuno went from only referring to Mu by her name to using chan over the course of Milgram,
20/06/04
Yuno: Huh, so you go to that high school. So, you are from a rich family then~! I mean, you already gave off that vibe though. What year are you in?
Mu: First year…… Kashiki… san…… youre older than me, right?
Yuno: Yeah, I’m in third year. But you can just call me Yuno, I don’t really like the stuffy formalities. It doesn’t really matter who’s older and who’s younger. If you squint, we’re basically the same age anyway.
Mu: ……fufu, what’s with that? But ok…… I’ll call you Yuno from now on.
Trial 2
Q.11 Which of the other prisoners do you get along with least?
Haruka: I don’t dislike Amane anymore. I’m not scared of small children now
Yuno: I wonder; the ones that are painful just to watch are Haruka and Mu-chan.
The use of honorifics is highly circumstantial. In Minigram 34 Spoiled,
Tumblr media
Mikoto is doing a mock job interview where referring to someone by kun might just be contextually inappropriate or disrespectful for the environment he's attempting to simulate. So, he reasonably drops it.
A lot of the Milgram characters do what many people where I'm from would refer to as code switching. Basically, changing their language to fit the environment. People in general do this a lot in their everyday lives. People who are incapable of doing this or have difficulties doing it can run into social issues.
So, to put it simply given the topic he rightfully wouldn't refer to him as kun. He also doesn't refer to the others by name at all. Something common in job interviews, at least group ones.
The best way to come to a simple conclusion is to ask simple questions.
If they could co-front why would Milgram have any issues restraining the other Mikoto or even be unaware of their presence until after trial one? It is likely that there are other prisoners who have dissociative disorders, and their cases haven't been as difficult as Mikoto's. So, from that we can infer that if Mikoto had a more interconnected system or was even aware of the other then Milgram would have been able to better account for their presence.
The other Mikoto having more of an impact on the usual Mikoto would allude to the progression of time when it has been stated by Yamanaka that the Minigrams take place during trial one only.
Tumblr media
A bit of a more accurate translation (still not completely accurate though),
"The minigrams are basically going to remain in the first trial timeline forever. It will remain in a relaxed, relaxed manner. There is a lot going on in the main story, but please rest assured to enjoy it."
Although since you can read the minigrams this is more for my benefit.
Because this is the case we will not be seeing any of the prisoners who have injuries with those injuries within the minigrams. This is perfectly displayed through the state we Mahiru is in within the minigrams in comparison to her state within Milgram currently,
Tumblr media
Being able to jump rope despite needing a wheelchair in canon.
Since the minigrams take place during trial one chances are Mikoto is still unaware of the other's presence. It isn't completely impossible for the other's presence to be subconsciously impacting Mikoto, but I personally don't think it would be enough to change his way of speaking. Especially if this is all taking place over the course of trial one.
There are much more definitive ways to tell when the alter is in the minigrams the use of ore is one of them. However, just referring to Haruka as Haruka and not Haru-kun is a bit too skewed by circumstantial and contextual factors for me to consider it a reliable indicator.
Something your question has brought to attention here.
This is why I don't use that as the only indication of which personality is out myself. There are a lot of subtle mannerisms verbal and non-verbal that indicate which one is out currently and who has been out the longest. All these details come together to make Mikoto and his situation far more realistic in my opinion.

How to Make Any Financial Decision, No Matter How Tough, with Maximum Swag
Step 1: Determine your priorities
For so many decisions about money, there really is no right answer, just different means to the same end. So it really does depend on a lot of factors, one of which is your life priorities.
This is because personal finance is (try to contain your shock) personal.
You can read advice all day about how renting is a waste of money and you’re much better off buying property. And that advice is right for some… but it might not be right for you.
If your priority is to travel often and live a minimalist lifestyle, and you couldn’t give two shits about things like feng shui and marble countertops… then maybe renting is for you, and damn the math!
What’s a priority?
Your priorities are the principles, people, activities, and lifestyles you hold most dear.
For example, environmentalism is a priority for me. It drives a lot of my decisions, even when that means I might spend more time or money on something in an effort to be more environmentally friendly. Sometimes, the more environmentalist choice is the more frugal choice. And sometimes, environmentalism saves me money but costs me time. I have to weigh my environmentalist priority when making consumer decisions.
Likewise, your priority might be to travel the world, spend as much time as possible with your loved ones, or dedicate your life to winning the Leadville 100. It’s something that matters to you that everyone else might not give a fuck about.
Let your priorities guide you
Once you determine your priorities, they should be at the forefront of every major financial decision you make.
If your priority is to spend time with your family, you might turn down an extremely lucrative job offer in another state. Doesn’t make mathematical sense! But it’s your priority, and you know you’d be miserable were you to ignore it to blindly follow career advancement.
Others might not understand your dedication to your priorities. They might find your priorities ludicrous and your decisions batshit. That’s ok! Your financial decisions don’t have anything to do with anyone else.
Step 2: Set your goals
Once you’ve determined your priorities, you need to set goals that align with those priorities.
What’s a goal?
A priority is what’s important to you in life—your values, what you care about, what makes you feel happy and fulfilled. A goal is a concrete milestone that measures where you are in relationship to where you want to end up. Often your goals are informed by your priorities.
Other examples of financial goals: pay off student loan debt within five years, own a home within the next ten years, increase your income by 20% over the next two years, get rid of credit card debt by the end of the year, finally start that pet grooming business where you cut and color poodles so they look like little dragons by 2023.
What every good goal has in common
Eagle-eyed readers will notice something about the examples above: they’re all specific, measurable, and time-based.
“Maybe own a home some day” is not a good goal. It’s too vague! That vagueness gives you permission to put your goal on the back burner and work on other things instead.
Having an achievable, specific goal to work toward should inform your financial decisions. Every big money choice you make should come back to the question, “How does this help me achieve my next goal?”
Step 3: Do the math
There’s a reason the mathiness comes last. It’s because it’s the easiest and often least important part of the equation.
We’re a personal finance blog. And we put a whole lot of emphasis on the “personal.” And while I’m not suggesting the personal should always trump the financial when making money decisions, it definitely should take precedence a lot of the time!
Now that you’ve determined your priorities and set your goals, it’s time to get mathy with it!
Return on investment
The math on a financial decision often comes back to determining which of your options provides you the best return on investment. Which sounds like a much scarier, more sophisticated monetary concept than it actually is.
“Return on investment” (ROI) simply means what you get for the effort you put in. Working for an hour and getting paid $7.25 is a low return on investment compared to working for an hour and getting paid $15. (WHOOPS! There we go inserting our liberal, commie, pro-union agenda into the discussion again! #FightFor15.)
Not every ROI calculation will be as clear as comparing time in and money out. If you’re determining whether to keep renting or buy a home, you’re going to compare the ROI of a lot of factors. A large down payment vs. a comparatively small security deposit. Eventually owning an expensive asset vs. paying periodically increasing rent checks every month forever. Arranging and paying for repairs yourself vs. passing that labor and cost on to your landlord.
If your goal is to pay off multiple debts, you’ll need to figure the ROI on which of your debts to start with. Is it the one with the highest balance? The lowest balance? Or the one with the highest interest rate? The lowest interet rate? The nice thing about this kind of ROI math is that there are clear answers for which option will save you the most money over the long haul, and which option will work fastest.
What if there is no right answer?
Make no mistake: “do the math” does not mean “figure out the thing that will save you the most money and do that thing.” Because again—saving the most money might not align with your priorities and goals!
If your goal is to pay off your debt as soon as possible, then you might choose to rent instead of saving up a down payment to purchase a home. Even if renting is more expensive in the long term! But your goal is to crush that debt beneath your stylish yet affordable heels. So you throw all your available cash at your debts, mathematical ROI be damned.
This is why the math comes last.

a decade of repression
February 18, 2024
Lately I've been fixated on this memory of silently sobbing in the dark surrounded by my ex husband and his family. I didn't make a sound so as not to wake anyone up, and I did my best to breathe through the full bodily contractions so I didn't move and cause him to stir inches away from me.
It was February 14, 2020, and everyone had turned in for the night after his brother and his new wife eloped earlier that day at the courthouse. I have no clue why we split a room with his parents and grandmother - we didn't need to save money that badly to completely forego privacy. Anyway, I was never comfortable at a single family gathering of theirs, and I'm sure I was exhausted from another day of heavy masking. I'm sure I was drunk, too. It was the only way to cope.
But mostly I was feeling sad as the day drew nearer to The Dark Day, and I didn't have any outlet. Nobody cared. Now was not the time. That was a long time ago - everyone else has moved on.
I haven't talked much about my dad's death here - after all, that's not why I made this blog. But you can't separate me from this thing that has happened - it's a part of me.
The morning of February 16, 2014 started normally. We made our way to church and stopped for sandwiches after. While in line waiting for them, my ex showed me a text on his phone from my mother: "Please come here when you can." We'd had our phones on silent during the service, and I opened mine to find several missed calls and texts, too. I tried to call back and find out what was going on, but no one would come out and say it - it's not a thing to tell someone over the phone. I knew right away my dad had passed. None of the calls or texts were from him. Seeing the county sheriff squad in the driveway upon arrival confirmed it for me.
The following week was hazy as we wrote an obituary and planned a funeral for someone whose cell phone was still on and ringing, for someone who was feeling under the weather but still went to work the other day.
My world just sort of stopped. But life goes on, and mine did, in a slow and disjointed kind of way. I didn't really talk about it in any sort of meaningful way with anyone. Many church friends went *poof* (which is super common if you ask any evangelical who goes through something difficult). And I couldn't ask my family to accommodate my feelings. They were going through it, too, and my job was always to take care of everyone else. Even now - that's not an option. My ex tried to understand and empathize, but he simply couldn't, and eventually I could tell he just wanted me to "get over it." A few older adults with some perspective tried to get through to me, but I wasn't in a place to receive it. I even went to grief counseling two years later, but my therapist was so busy trying to convince me that having a baby would fix my grieving that I didn't really get to work through said grief.
It was very isolating. Sure, I knew of people who had lost parents to prolonged illness or an accident. I didn't bother them, though - I didn't want to stir anything up, and I wasn't sure they'd get it. My dad was sick with pneumonia, yes, but nobody thought he'd die when he did. He died of natural causes, in his sleep, like you might expect to happen to someone decades over. He had chronic illnesses society nonchalantly calls "lifestyle diseases" and yes, a series of poor lifestyle choices caught up with him. Those poor choices impacted me for most of my life, too. How do you even explain that to someone?
My partner also lost his dad when he was in his late 20s, and both of our dads were 58 when they passed. It's not my story to tell and it wasn't an identical situation, but it was weirdly similar in a lot of ways. I've always thought no one could ever possibly begin to understand this thing and the complicated dynamics surrounding it, but if anyone does, it's him.
We didn't exactly talk about it at great length this weekend, but we did go visit. Mid-February in northern Minnesota typically would NOT be the time to go to the cemetery, but this winter is anything but typical. It was actually the first time I've ever gone there and found the grave by myself. I wasn't even sure if I'd be able to do it!
But I did, and it felt like the right thing to do after a decade of holding back at all costs.

Blog 0
Welcome! If you are into travel, reading, fitness, women's safety, and a consistent stream of dark humor and bullshit, you may be in the right place. If you're not really into traditional families, standard U.S. societal norms, or living to someone else's ideas/standards, you may be in the right place. As I travel along this writing journey, other topics will probably surface, so maybe stick around to find out.
My name is Miranda and I'm a 30-something woman from Western PA trying to figure out how to unlearn all the bullshit life has taught me so far and instead live the way I want to, even if I haven't quite nailed that down yet. I'm hoping this newfound blogging journey can help. I have set several goals for myself this decade, just to name several: to get to know myself better, be vulnerable (yikes), network with other like-minded individuals, and learn healthy independence. I am confident there are other people out there that absolutely despised their 20's and are deciding to embrace the rest of their lives after those godforsaken years.
What I really intended to do was keep a lifestyle blog aimed toward the child-free lifestyle. After a lot of thought, I do realize it's still one of my main personality traits as a millennial woman (of course I have two rescue dogs and drove a Subaru for 10 years), but I realized I did not want it to be a dividing factor. I fully embrace a child-free life, and meeting others who can relate would be fantastic. But I can't move forward with that specifically when I know all my dearest friends are bad ass parents. So though child-free will be a recurring theme, I feel my topics are going to be much broader than that label.
Part of getting to know myself is accepting who and what I have already been so far. So, to introduce myself, I'll give you a bit of a background to start. I grew up part of a large family with 5 siblings outside of Pittsburgh. I won't claim to have grown up in the worst situation, but chronic trauma was a theme in my youth. At a bright and shiny 20-year-old, I entered what I didn't know at the time would be an abusive marriage. I was an Army wife for 3 years before separating and divorcing. How did I make it out of that still child-free? I'm honestly unsure but thank goodness for me that I never had to coparent with that partner. This was probably the third time in my life starting therapy would have been a great idea, but I was ignorant to the subject, unfortunately. I worked in humane societies for 5 years so of course I'm a rescue snob. After a year or so of coping with my problems with partying too hard, I decided at a late age to enlist in the Air Force Reserves for health care and some stability. After 6 years of that would be the 76th time I should have started therapy. I was still pretty immature, but it did teach me a few things, and it gave me some of the best friendships I could ever ask for. During this time, I deployed, completed police academy, and job hopped until I realized it was never the department or area I worked in that made me miserable, but the culture and job itself. I worked extremely hard post-divorce to prove myself and be the best I could be. It was exhausting and it's taken me a long time to realize I can slow down and just be, without the constant need to succeed. It's a difficult thing to give up, but I'm working on it. There's a lot more in between all that, but those are the basics and cover a little bit of why my personality is the way it is. As of three years ago, I'm in therapy (finally). I'm a passionate person and sometimes probably have too much to say, so I'm anxious to get started on this blog. I'm hoping a person or two out there finds something they relate to here in the future. Obviously I'm new to sharing what I write, and it's important to me to be as authentic and true to myself as possible. There's nothing I dislike more than reading blogs that are fake, overly cheerful, or only surface level.
This is where a writer will usually ask you to visit their other content or click on a link, but I don't have that for you at this point! Please feel free to leave a comment and check back soon for more specific stuff!

Credit cards and Savings accounts 101
Hi!
Welcome to my blog post discussing how to arrange your financials as an early 20 something year old. We are going to go over credit cards, and savings accounts.
~This is entirely dependent on your lifestyle, too. I am someone who spends a lot on restaurants, rent, and groceries. I travel, but not constantly and when I do, it's usually with Spirit. That’s why I don’t have a credit card for traveling (more on this under the Travel section down). I haven’t done any travel credit card research. So if you’re a travel girlie, do everything I’m telling you below, and then add on a nice travel credit card after consulting www.nerdwallet or something. They will summarize the good ones on the market for you.
Credit cards are really cool because it's a win-win situation for both you and the bank.
>It’s really fantastic for you since you get a lot of protection every time you buy something (if there’s a problem or scam, you can dispute the charge rather than trying to get your money back as with a debit card which is so much harder).
>You also of course get free money in the form of cashback, random benefits specific to each card, and can build your credit score.
[Credit scores can seem really shady but it's honestly an actually smart way humans in finance have managed to quantify a person’s “trustworthiness”. It sounds really dumb but banks need it to figure out who to loan their money to. Especially if you’re trying to buy a house and can’t come up with all the cash instantly. I foresee myself renting til the end of time so I don’t care too much about the house but credit scores can also help you get accepted for some of those really nice, more exclusive credit cards out there 0.0). The downside is that they’re really hard to build up (takes so many years) and can go down unbelievably easily like for missing one payment on your credit card.]
How do the banks benefit from the credit card system?
They earn transaction fees from the merchant (that’s why some smaller businesses sometimes prefer to be paid in cash), and depend on you forgetting to pay or giving into the allure of the credit card limit and maxing out. That’s when the fees and interest rates become astronomical.
SO,
Lesson 1: Do not forget to pay your bill each month! Set up Autopay a few days before the due date! Try to pay it off in full if you can!
Lesson 2: If you remember to do these things, you will profit enormously from the whole shebang and can make the system work for you. It literally pays to be financially responsible.
So, I currently have 4 credit cards. Discover Student, Citi Double Cash, Citi Custom Cash, and Bilt.
Equally important, I have a Citi Accelerate Savings Account.
Since Citi has some of the best cards and savings accounts out there, I also made a checking account with Citi.
In total I have:
Discover Student
Citi Custom Cash
Citi Double Cash
Bilt
Citi Accelerate Savings
Citi Checking Account
Our goal is to get the highest amount of cashback that we can on every purchase that we do.
Pro tip:
I’ve found it helpful to write down which credit cards to use for which purchases in a sticky note in your wallet if you need help remembering.
Spending Money:
Discover Student
This is a fabulous beginner card. It offers rotating categories for getting 5% cashback. This year, from January to March, you would get 5% back on Restaurants. Also, for the first year they double your cashback, so you get 10% back! That’s huge!! Every other miscellaneous purchase gets 1% back which is meh. They publish a yearly calendar with all the categories, and so for these three months, my sticky note said:
Restaurants: Use Discover card
Citi Custom Cash
This one also has rotating categories, but you choose the category that you want 5% back in. Since I was using Discover for restaurants, I chose groceries for this. Every other miscellaneous purchase gets 1% back which is meh. When Discover has a different category, like Gas Stations, that’s when I either pick restaurants for this or keep it at groceries, depending on what I’m spending more on.
My sticky note said:
Groceries: Use Citi Custom Cash card
Bilt
This is (at the time) the only card on the market that offers points on rent! Woah! Which is especially crazy because, as the creator of Bilt said, “rent is your highest spending category each month”. It is because of that precise reason that basically every credit card avoids paying rent and charges such an annoyingly high percentage for using your credit card to pay rent online. They don’t want to shell out 20 bucks a month for your 1k rent charge. Bilt gives you 1x points for each dollar you pay in rent. You can redeem these points in either cash (the lowest redemption rate) or in airline or hotel points (a higher redemption rate). I’m saving mine up for miles but even if you cash out, it's still not a rate to scoff at. Plus you don’t have to pay a credit card charge if you use their card which is bananas!
My sticky note said:
Rent: Use Citi Double Cash card
Citi Double Cash
This has to be my favorite. It was my first one and I used it for everything. Now that I have my restaurants, groceries, and rent covered, I use this as a net for all my other purchases. The Urban Outfitters planter, or a Target run, etc. You also can’t use the category cards for big stores like Walmart or Target (unless they specifically mention it) so this card is perfect for those. It gives 2% back for everything, which hella adds up. Now that you have all your bigger spending categories covered, Citi Double Cash comes in so absolutely clutch.
My sticky note said:
Everything else: Use Citi Double Cash card
Travel
There are some great credit cards out there that allow you to earn airplane miles or hotel points with purchases, or give travel insurance if you book using that card (I have had to use that more than once!). I don’t have one yet, but that seems like the next step in life. I’ve heard Chase has some good ones, and of course googling the best travel cards on the market is always the easiest route.
Keeping Money
Savings Account
Savings accounts have taken a complete 180 degree turn since a few years ago. Before, they would only give you a small percentage like 0.5% for the money you keep with them. That’s what your local credit union will give you. Now, there are accounts called High Yield Savings Accounts or HYSAs that give you anything from 4-5% back! Even if you have 200 dollars saved up, I would 10000% recommend opening one of these. It's the best place to store your money, and you can let it sit back and just let your money work for you. I have the Citi Accelerate Savings Account that gives me 4.47% right now, one of the highest on the market. There are some cards that match that interest rate or slightly higher but since I have 2 Citi cards already, I find it easiest just to have this one since everything can be in the same dashboard and it's easier to transfer money.
Checking Accounts
This is just a basic account where usually people deposit their money from their jobs, and pay off their credit cards, utilities, etc., with. I have a Citi Checking Account because I’m integrated in their ecosystem and it's the easiest, but mine doesn’t earn any interest on money. This was previously unheard of but some checking accounts nowadays earn interest for you! The future is now. O.o
That’s all folks!
All of this is friendly advice. Even if you don’t go with any of these cards, I hope you get the idea of how to sit down, look at your spending categories, look at the cards available on the market, and play a little matching game to pair each category to each card.
Once again, I’m underlining the importance of having a HYSA asap rather than letting your money sit in a checking account, because that’s free money on it each month! Try to avoid opening a bunch of credit cards all at the same time because that will hit your credit score (once again, opening the HYSA won’t though).
It took me about four years starting as a freshman in college to get all four of these credit cards. Companies frown at opening more than 5 in 24 months (Chase’s secret 5/24 rule) but you can start with at least the Citi Double Cash one if not more. As always, you can come to me with any questions!
Xoxo,

Perhaps you have heard this wedding story. It is a few minutes before the ceremony is to begin the bridesmaids, groomsmen, father of the bride, and the bride are huddled in the back of the church. The bride is nervous, shaking a little and her Dad is at a loss on how to calm her. The best man steps in to break the nervous tension. He calmly puts his arm around the bride and very soothingly says: “There is nothing to be nervous about, this is a piece of cake. All you have to do is walk down the aisle with your Dad, then stand at the altar and we will sing a hymn.” The bride nervously nods understanding and the best man continues: “Just repeat after me until you have it down. Aisle, altar, hymn.” She begins repeating this out loud, with the rest of the wedding party biting their tongues, and during her third repetition, she bursts out laughing thus calming everyone’s nerves.
This humorous story has nothing to do with the lifestyle but perhaps it can point thoughts to how people are “teaching” and others are learning about BDSM. A big complaint from many and sadly many newer dominants is that books as well as educational blog posts are too lengthy and they are pressed for time.
How does one learn about the lifestyle if they are not going to read?
Some people step out and become active in their in-person community, attend events, and have sought out experienced mentors but all of those routes also involve the investment of time. These are more time intensive because these involve scheduling around others as opposed to reading which can be done on your schedule. Looking around the kinky net, what passes as knowledge is disseminated in quick little 5, 10, or 20-step mantras or guides. Offering advice such as the five steps every good submissive follows or ten traits the top dominants in the Western World all share. These step-by-step instructions are typically paired with a sensual picture sexualizing the so-called educational component.
The lifestyle is very complex and deep and learning it cannot be completed in a few hours of perving on Tumblr, Reddit, or FetLife. While there is nothing wrong with investing in these quickies as many do contain wisdom but D/S requires a person to do a deep dive. There are no shortcuts to creating a base of knowledge. Even experienced people need to keep up with their continuing education because the lifestyle is vast. The more a person learns about D/S the more they know there is so much more to explore and discover.
Something else about the speedy quick, condensed book educational curve is these ditties often miss the most amazing part of the journey into the lifestyle. The best part of the trip to BDSMville is the self-discovery that occurs and is never-ending. There are no shortcuts on this voyage of enlightenment, no Google Maps to point out the quickest route or exactly where the journey will terminate. A person’s path to their lifestyle destination is created by pushing forward, learning, and growing with every step forward.
Size does matter because the amount of a person’s investment in learning and growth will impact what they get from the lifestyle. There is no shortcut on the road to being a better person while blossoming in the D/S role that fits one’s soul.
What lifestyle books or resources do you recommend?
As with all of my writings, please see this disclaimer.

Tumblr media
I’ve been thinking about this platform as being the best one to continue blogging, so I’ll be posting again about my attempts to fix my lifestyle and myself while being clinically depressed and trying to deal with newly diagnosed OCD through studies, sports, and planning (doubtfully but hopefully). It's better to start doing something once you get an urge, even if there’s a chance you'll drop out, because what if you accidentally manage to develop some working method that will stay?
Pinterest aesthetics have an influence on me and I get inspired or even obsessed with new ideas (I am not proud of it, but at least I can turn it into something useful?). So, despite not being a girl, I got into this "that girl" lifestyle because I wanted to love myself, shape myself and strive for something since I completely lost any passion or desires. Those aesthetics help me see goals and ways to reach them clearer, so it is helpful to follow what the people within the community do.I struggled with an eating disorder when I was a teenager, so the only strategy is not to fall into it again this time. I really want to keep my diet and body healthy.
I have already had two very productive trips to the gym in a row in recent days, and I remembered that sport actually IS enjoyable for me; I am just too lazy to put in the effort and time. However, I've got a possibility to go to the gym for free right now, so I hope that it will take away the pressure. Let’s see how it goes.
My studies are currently extremely difficult for me. I even seem to replace the time I could spend on it to go to the gym, also leaving all my energy there. I'm not sure how to explain why I can't carry on my studies, even though it sounds so simple: just sit down and study! But I can't concentrate and I can't control myself at all, so I hope that going through it with help of a blog could help.
My schedule today was kinda like this:
7:00 woke up 7:00 - 7:20 cooking breakfast (that’s a new habit I’m trying to keep already for 2 weeks!) 7:20 - 7:40 eating and reading 7:40 - 8:00 getting ready for school
9:15 - 11:30 at uni
13:00 - 15:00 gym
And then I didn't do aaaaanything productive nor useful at home except cooking dinner and journaling. I won't go to the gym tomorrow because my presentation is due by Friday at 2 pm and I have yet to begin working on it, so I will have to stay after lectures at the school library and study really hard unless I’ll be screwed.
I hope my tomorrow’s schedule will look like:
7:00 - 8:00 same routine 9:15 - 14:00 (very approximate ending time) uni 14:00 - 15:00 lunch? 15:00 - 21:00 making presentation slides
I really don't have that much time left for the presentation and I think it will result in pulling an all-nighter but thankfully it is just a draft. And I have to buy new sweatpants since mine are practically a waste.
P.S. I could've spent the time I spent writing this post on making the presentation, but I didn't.
P.P.S. I was never good with day planning and can only analyse the day after it has already passed, otherwise lists and plans are making me nervous.

So Aurelius, huh. It’s the first time I’ve been overtaken brain rot of this caliber. I may had some brain rot in the past, but not like this where I spend my days figuring out Aurelius content in my writing or drawing to some extent (not to mention making me create this blog to accommodate such extremes). Though my friends told me I shouldn’t justify my brain rot and leave it as it is— I’m sorry, I can’t do that because how it came to me like a storm. It was initially a terrifying experience. I overtly objected how I feel about this character akin to opening your parent’s safe. How would I navigate a landscape I’ve haven’t stepped into for nearly a decade? I’m an older fan (late 20’s here) in the dislyte fanbase, and I really, really, still ask these questions myself when interacting with media like this to my own relationships.
Could it be his design? How he sounds? The personality that he goes out of his way to pick anything that blooms as a reflection of his lack of human interaction? Or is his background that is somewhat relatable to my own? Or even semblances of people I met through my 15+ years that culminated some of the tropes and traits I like in a character that didn’t manifest till now?
Each nugget of information I learn about him extends my thoughts of his hermit lifestyle. How he’ll interact, how he’ll conduct business on the daily. Usually I would ignore and not think of these things but I do. There was another character that got me feeling this way years ago, but not to this extent. It’s kind of crazy when you let things go and it comes flooding in. I get embarrassed thinking about it. This man had an impact on my mind every time when doing my work, even the most mundane things. The mundanity of it that I allow it to happen is mind-boggling. There are days I wish it would end. As much sweetness I get crumbs of his presence known, it also reminds me of something a bit more dismal.
There was a person who I dated few years ago had a similar mentality, a personality alike Aurelius. Then you realize those traits that you grown to like in fiction really don’t translate to a human being. A living human being. I keep reassessing those moments. You can’t go back to those moments. It was painful breaking it off but I learned a lot from those times. I can’t be like them, nor can’t have them be like this. Yet you observe regardless, constantly thinking about the past. Knowing that you did your best, despite the odds of making it work would require constant transparency and I wasn’t given a chance to properly go forward due to their insecurities.
I’ve done some work in my undergrad how fiction and fandom can affect peoples social circles and the perception of it. I’m very aware it is somewhat delusional to take fiction and apply it to real life (and vice versa). Spaces like these are when people go out of the woodwork and express their thoughts, because of the human connection it brings. This is no different, I think. But it varies upon the person. I know I like characters that are realistically believable in their actions, as an extension of their supposed humanity. But that makes it interesting with a smaller fan base like this compared to something with a larger media property right? There’s a lot I can go off of because there’s a lack of information, not with a series that been standing tall for a decade or more.
I am not a person who can see myself manifest into someone else, but I like to theorize. Or to have a deeper understanding how a character ticks. I’m willing to bare off aspects to get a sense of the core even if there’s nothing else comes by. It’s the reason I went out of my way to write my first reader fic about him since it’s something I haven’t done before in a fan space. Nor interacted with “x reader fics” since I don’t really relate much to them. I saw it another way to see a character in a different light. I like seeing different interpretations of the characters I like and that’s fun. Cringe is dead (to me); folks who revel in it (especially with my age range) really don’t have any regrets. And I want to step forward on that.
I guess what I’m saying is that I do like Aurelius. He’s neat and there’s no harm for me or anyone indulging this for now. There’s a lot of things that I find in common or in common ground with his character background and design because of my actual lived experiences. And I see him as somewhat of a weird conduit of figuring my life out while appreciating the content I’ve seen. It’s great work. I don’t think I’ll have something intense like this in a long while. This dude is living in my head rent free and I’m ok with it.

Enhanced Viewing Experience: LASIK allows you to immerse yourself fully in the excitement of the game without any visual distractions, providing a truly enjoyable viewing experience.
Quick Recovery: With LASIK, most patients experience rapid visual recovery, allowing them to resume their daily activities, including watching IPL matches, within a short period.

How To Take Care Of Your Oral Health With Invisalign?
Tumblr media
Invisalign is a popular alternative to traditional metal braces to correct dental issues like gaps and overbites. Both options can lead you to your goal and improve your smile. But using Invisalign clear aligners instead of conventional metal braces doesn’t demand you to make any vital lifestyle changes. For example, you won’t have to avoid certain foods or wear a custom mouthguard when you play contact sports.
However, undergoing Invisalign treatment does require maintaining good oral hygiene. Though it may sound intimidating, it is not! Here, you will find the answers to all your questions based on the insights we have taken from the expert team of Orthodontists at AK Global Dent. This blog will help you understand how to manage your oral health with Invisalign. And where to find the best Orthodontist doctor in Gurgaon. So, let’s start the journey together!
Seven Tips To Follow Oral Hygiene With Invisalign
Brush And Floss Your Teeth First
As per the doctors, a typical patient wears their Invisalign aligners for at least 20-22 hours daily. In between that, you must remove your aligners whenever you eat or drink something besides water. To keep your teeth in good shape, you must brush and floss your teeth before you put Invisalign clear aligners back into your mouth.
To ensure you do the brush timely, it’s advised to take a travel toothbrush and toothpaste with you if you are going out to eat. If that’s not possible or you forget them at home, try to at least swish your teeth clean with some water before reinserting your aligners.
Limit The Intake Of Foods And Beverages That Causes Stains
Despite not restricting what you can eat or drink during your Invisalign treatment, you can still take cautious steps when determining how much you consume stain-causing foods and beverages. To simplify it in a better way, we have made a list that you may want to think twice about consuming to prevent your aligners from becoming stained:
Wine
Soda
Tea
Coffee
Juice
Soy Sauce
Acidic fruits like grapefruit.
Remember To Brush Your Aligners properly.
Just like you brush your teeth daily, you must also brush your Invisalign aligners and take proper care of them. Though your aligners are tough enough to handle the day’s event, they need special care when brushing. So make sure you brush your aligners lightly but thoroughly.
Tip: Do not use toothpaste on your aligners, especially the whitening ones or toothpaste that includes baking soda in its ingredients.
Get Used To Invisalign Cleaning Kit
It is easy to maintain your aligners in good condition with the help of an Invisalign cleaning kit. These kits will deep clean your aligners by keeping them in a glass of water and a denture cleaning tablet.
Build A Habit To Store Your Aligners In A Case
When you’re not wearing your Invisalign clear aligners, store them in a case. If you lay them on a table or sink, they can get covered with germs and bacteria, which will wind up in your mouth.
Stay Hydrated And Maintain Overall Health
Staying hydrated is essential for both your general health and oral well-being. Drinking water can help to flush away bacteria and food particles, reducing the risk of cavities and gum issues. Additionally, having a balanced diet and overall health leads to the success of your Invisalign treatment. Include nutrient-rich foods to support your strong teeth and gums and enhance the overall impact of orthodontic care on your oral health.
Rinse Your Mouth Before Inserting Aligners Ideally, it would help if you cleaned all the plaque and food debris from your teeth before placing your aligners back on your teeth again. If you do not, you will trap all the food and bacteria between your aligners and teeth. It can result in stains on your teeth and aligners, bad breath, and an increased risk of developing cavities. So, try to brush or at least rinse your mouth with water after eating.
Final Words
Finally, taking care of your oral health with Invisalign involves a combination of regular check-ups, hygiene practices, and lifestyle considerations. Following these tips ensures that your Invisalign journey results in a beautifully aligned smile with improved oral health. Remember, a healthy smile is beautiful, and using Invisalign properly can help you achieve both.
