Dottore with a equally manipulative reader!!
Despite their illness, they can and will do anything to achieve their goals (alongside Dottore, of course.)
Since they're also from the Akademiya, they're quite knowledgeable when it comes to the human mind and psychology—so, they know how to use someone.
I feel like, once the traveler meets them—they'll probably twist Paimon and the traveler's reality loll
However, they still have weaknesses. Especially their sickness, which is why Dottore is by their side in the first place!
Maybe, manipulative fragile reader most likely is two-faced lmaoo
Even if they're still evil and twisted, them and Dottore are the perfect matchh!!
YES :3 I've always hc-ed fragile reader to be like this but I never write it because 1) I probably would suck terribly at writing manipulation 2) reader doesn't do it too much unless they're feeling vengeful (Traveler moment) or it's necessary since it's lots of work (would rather leave the schemes to Dottore right now.)
Therefore most people never see you do this or are a victim of your manipulation. The difference between you and Dottore is that you are genuinely nice to people, so they don't realize they're already ensnared in your trap until it's too late. But perhaps that is their shortcoming because did one truly expect the spouse of a Harbinger to be naive and defenseless, regardless of what you seem outwardly? Like Dottore, you don't take pleasure in hurting others, but if that is what furthers your research, what else is there to do? (Unless it's Traveler or the Archons, that's another story.)
Needless to say, your husband greatly appreciates your mind. After all, you did a lot of the "negotiating" back then for him in the Akademiya, due to his general irritability. But he still does not want you to push yourself too much. If only you weren't sick, Dottore would send you out to represent him at his meetings. Webttore could especially use your patience. Regardless of whatever your goals are, he'll make sure you stay on top of it. That's what good scholars do for each other, right?

Wanting to only give back the West Bank and Gaza to Palestinians while continuing to occupy the rest of historic Palestine and not allowing the Palestinian refugees who were ethnically-cleansed from there to return doesn't make a person any less of a Zionist from those who want to continue occupying all of Palestine from the river to the sea, no matter how much they swear they are not a Zionist.

WHAT THE FUCK IS UP WITH PHEE?
(and other equally puzzling things)
An EXTREMELY EXTENSIVE Post-Episode 10 Analysis/Theory
So, okay. Episode 10 was A LOT. Like... A LOT, A LOT. And a lot of this lot seems... Weird as fuck. So many odd choices were made in the narrative.
Top's drugged manipulation; White pulling info about shrooms out of his ass; Fluke becoming a victim of involuntary drug abuse ghosts of his past and begging for mercy after "all he did to Non"... But nothing beats Phee's OOC moments in ep.10 while he's alone with Jin.
Which is what compels me to make this post. Because this series has been nothing but the richness of detail and now suddenly... It's all over the place? Call it wishful thinking (or Last Twilight trauma) but I don't think so. And it mostly comes down to: Phee. And whatever his "agenda" is.
Tumblr media
PS: All screenshots of the show I use (and I will use a lot) will have been brightened because this show is FUCKING DARK, BOYYYYYY and I don't think y'all deserve to force your sight at 3AM to enjoy my posts.
WHAT HAPPENS AND WHY IT'S SUSPICIOUS
So? What does Phee say and do when he's alone with Jin in ep.10 and why am I suspicious of it?
It's hard to say for sure. But we can base ourselves off of 3 things: what we hear him say, what Jin replies to him and the flashbacks (no, they're not just there to fill in time for this very short episode, they serve a narrative purpose).
So let's do this analysis following the order in which things are shown to us, shall we?
First of all, we get a short flashback. The events are as follows:
Phee and New go to see the gang's film
New approaches Phee and they talk
New and Phee decide to try and figure out what happened to Non by infiltrating the group
New and Phee join the gang's school and start asking question
Jin decides to leave Thailand
New suggests going to Por's mansion for the goodbye party
Phee questions New in the lab about his decisions
New suggests using their homemade drug on the group as a truth serum
Phee asks if the drug is deadly and New denies it
Although we don't hear Phee tell this to Jin, Jin does reply very angrily something along the lines of "and you just let him carry on with it? why didn't you stop him? what the fuck is wrong with y'all???", so we can assume we've been shown what Phee told him.
So far, it's very unsuspicious. We've been shown these events before in the actual flashbacks so we can be fairly sure all of that is true.
It starts to get suspicious, however, when Phee replies to him: "There's so much more that you don't understand. About Non, and Tan".
And I think Jin feels the vibe too because, the man standing on his tall pillar of morality and righteousness /s, says he'll give Phee another chance to cut the bullshit and tell him everything. And so Phee sighs and the dreaded narration of ✨New's Murderous Adventures✨ starts.
So Phee tells Jin (and consequently us) that:
Phee and New set up a bunch of cameras to spy on the gang
New drugged the drinks
It was supposed to end when everyone was high at the party but New didn't follow the plan
New deleted the camera files
Phee kept drugging the group
Por's injury wasn't an accident but a trap that he thinks New set
New's drug enhances people's inner fears
Phee "never thought New would be so cruel with Uncle Dang"
New drugged Top at the temple
New must've left the hard disk for White to find
By the time he figured New's plan, there was nothing he could do about it (and we see him looking distressed at New's arrival at the house)
Now, here we have some interesting things. Let me list them for you.
Why would Phee keep drugging the group after Por got hurt?? If, as he claims, he didn't mean for people to get hurt, why would he keep people on drugs while a man is dying on the couch? Especially when the guy you're on a revenge mission with is ELIMINATING THE CONTENT OF THE CAMERA RECORDINGS!! That sure isn't gonna help anyone survive!
How does Phee know about Top??? He and Jin never saw Top arrive at the house. For all they know, that bro is lost in the woods. Right??
HOW THE FUCK DOES HE KNOW WHITE GOT THE HARD DRIVE??? There's no signal in the woods. We've established that. When White tells Tee and New about his actions they're ALONE. The only other person there is LITERALLY THE MASKY (I'm calling the masked person that for convenience, it's shorter. besides, it seems the fandom has been calling them that anyways, so... yeah). So how does he know? How does he know???
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And in that same fucking sequence: THE MASKY TRIES TO HURT NEW!!! Bu if New told Top to hurt everyone who hurt Non, why would he hurt him??? And why, my friends, WHY would he SAVE TEE, when he's the only witness of those events??? It would be so easy to just say the masky killed Tee and he couldn't save him... Is it 4D chess??? Is it a different masky??? Or, is it simply not true that New did that?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's very confusing, weird and suspicious. But let's wait it out, guys, because there's more to PheeJin in the temple.
After this odd-ass narration, they're back to having a convo. Which goes as follows:
Jin (very validly) asks Phee what the fuck is wrong with him and New
Phee says he'd never allow them to go if he knew New was going for murder instead of just confessions ("you can hate me if you want but I never wanted anyone to get hurt, I swear" or whatever he said)
Jin asks if Tan is New and Phee is Non's boyfriend
Phee confirms Jin's suspicions and even adds that "p'New came back from England"
Jin asks if they ever saw the group as their friends
Phee says they wanted to infiltrate the group to find the truth because they didn't know shit about what happened to Non and it's haunting them (good choice of words there, very subtle /s)
Phee explains his motivation, stating he told Non to "get lost and die"
Jin confesses to recording the child grooming revenge porn tape and posting it on Twitter (-_-)
Jin explains his motivation, saying he respected Non's relationship (by constantly making moves on him?) but couldn't stand him cheating on Phee (so he one-upped him by committing not one but two actual severe crimes?)
Phee appears to be mad and disgusted so he says "Fuck. So we both were the ones who hurt Non?", gets up and starts pacing (oh no! the big boy is angy~~~ /s)
Jin gets up like a sad wet cat
Phee randomly finds an axe and takes some exposition out of his ass by stating "this must be Tan's axe that he keeps as a spare. But it's good"
Phee breaks the gate
So by this point Phee's whole speech sounds a bit insane, considering the type of person we've seen he is. Not to mention he just INSTANTLY calms down upon finding an axe and just decides to move on. Like ??? Excuse me??? If that ain't weird then idk what is. Like, sure, Phee is a very confusing and confused character (as better explored by @crysta1ized in this post). He seems to have his heart divided between many things and they could all be pulling at his strings there. HOWEVER, we have to remember Phee's also THIS guy:
Tumblr media
Does this look like the kind of person who would just move on after a (perceived) treason? Does he??
And, the thing about this is that it gets worse.
After the scene cuts back from the house, Pheejin are lost in the damn woods (parallels to New and Tee? mayhaps, man, mayhaps...) These are the events there:
Phee is back to supporting Jin's weight with his body while they walk (which makes no fucking sense bc Jin hurt his SHOULDER which is a part of his UPPER BODY so there's no reason why he couldn't walk on his own but okay, sure)
They make no progress walking for a while, even despite trying to mark the places they've already been at
Jin is very upset that Phee's not very good at navigating through unknown forests at night
Phee, however, is very understanding and says: "Jin. I told you that I would be the one who would protect you. So I'll get you out of here" then PROCEEDS TO HOLD HANDS with him and continues with: "Right now, our friends are waiting for us to help them. So, you must stay strong. Believe in me"
-Jin nods (because, despite trying to play the apathetic bitch, he's a softie and very much has feelings™)
-PheeJin finally find the exit of the fucking forest
DO Y'ALL SEE HOW SOMETHING'S VERY WRONG WITH PHEE HERE??? Bro's not just acting weird (that would be fine, we love weirdos. *looks at New and winks* <3), he's abnormal. He's not acting like himself.
So, before I jump into trying to make some sense out of all of this, I'll just add the last scene of PheeJin alone in ep.10, last anyone come tell me I missed it:
They're arriving at the mansion
Jin falls down
Phee abandons the axe to help him
I don't think this one is particularly relevant to analyse Phee's character in this episode (although the axe is certainly relevant for other plots and our dear 9th person) but it's there. After this, they're back in the house with everyone and Por's rotting corpse.
PHEE IS HIDING THINGS
So what the fuck happened, really? Well, a lot. Some are easier, I think, to interpret, some aren't but regardless, there was a lot going on with Phee. To make this very complex thing a bit easier to understand, I'll start from the things I think are a bit easier to explain and/or are more solid and then I'll move from there towards the rest of this mess. Okay? Ok- (gets shot bc I hate John Green).
One thing for me that's nearly set in stone is that Phee, at the very least, isn't telling Jin everything. If he was, then the flashbacks would've started with PheeNon's falling love montage but they don't. They start at the cinema. Plus, Jin has to ask if Phee is Non's boyfriend and Tan is New, like he's piecing things by himself. If Phee had told him that, he wouldn't need to ask. AND Phee would've have referred to New as New during his whole monologue but he did not. He kept saying "Tan". He only started doing so after Jin asked the question and he confirmed Tan was New.
Tumblr media
Curiously enough, he also never mentions the antidote he knows exists and KNOWS New brought along. And that neither of them ever used on the others.
The million-dollar question here is then, naturally: why? Various reasons, I believe.
1st of all I think we have to account for the feels. Phee is definitely in a weird ass zone with Jin but it's something. And he feels that something (whatever it is. believe me I could make an entire post about that shit, it's so fucking complex, man, and it only gets worse this episode). He likes Jin, even if he tries not to or if he dislikes that he likes him. It's undeniable. So yes, of course, he doesn't want Jin to hate his guts more than necessary.
But also... We cannot forget why Phee himself is there: to find out what happened to Non. And what does he get out of the conversation he has with Jin? That's right. A confession.
Now, I don't think it's the confession he expected if his reactions are anything to go by:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I mean... If this is not the face of a man thinking "well, shit", then idk what it is. And also because, idk if it's a subtitle error or not, but he seems to ask "what did you three do?" when he's inquiring about the events of the past, so...
Tumblr media
Someone is being excluded.
Still, I think it's super possible he was hoping to get something out of it. After all, even if he assumes Jin is innocent in his actions, I don't think he's excluding him from having knowledge of what went down. That would make his positive bias even sillier.
So yeah, sure, I bet Phee feels genuinely guilty and it hurts him to be in the situation he's in and he definitely wants to be in a good place in terms of his relationship with Jin, especially because, as he said, he doesn't know if they can get out of the temple. But also... As Ta (Phee's actor) himself said in an interview: Phee can be really manipulative (I can't find the damn interview rn but, during my search, I found @raelle-writing had also mentioned it in this post, so I think it's enough to say I didn't dream that shit). You know... 2 things can be true at once.
Which brings me to the next part:
PHEE IS LYING
That whole talk of "I never thought he would hurt you", "if I had known I wouldn't have let you come", blah, blah, blah. That's some major BULLSHIT.
Phee knew exactly what New was capable of. At least, on a subconscious level. After all, if my friends started being murdered, my 1st assumption would not be that my best friend did it. Unless, of course, my best friend was spiralling down to madness, constantly using drugs to see his dead brother and answering shit like this:
Tumblr media
With a smirk on, when I ask him if the absynthe is gonna kill our friends. Because yeah, sure, I guess the green won't kill them. But you can't tell me this motherfucker wouldn't. He definitely would. And if we can infer that, so does Phee, who has been living with him as his close friend for the last 3 years.
In fact, the very fact that he feels the need to ask whether or not the drugs will kill the gang is proof enough that he, to some extent and, whether or not he's aware of it, KNOWS that's, at least, a possibility. Knows that's something New would do.
So yeah, he's perhaps not just lying to Jin (but also to himself) or not intentionally lying, but he's lying nevertheless. Phee knew this was a possibility. He knew New was capable of stuff like that. And when he pieces the story together, that's him admitting, even if no one realizes, that he knew it. And that he let it happen, in fact, because he never tried to stop the drugging. Or talked to New about what was going on (you'd think if he had that he would've told Jin in that situation). His biggest weapon is his knowledge and he chose not to swing the sword sooner. How very Fluke of him, isn't it? Especially because now 2 people are dead and that's on New, right? Right???
Not necessarily.
NEW IS NOT A MURDERER (initially)
You see, for all we see New is fine with death and murder in episodes 9 and 10, he makes it clear his nº1 goal is to figure out what happened to Non when he gets in front of a fucking firearm to harass Tee into talking.
Tumblr media
So why would he talk Top into murder? Why would Top attack him?? Why would he kill Uncle Dang?? And why, on the goddamn Earth, would he eliminate the recordings in the house when his whole motivation is
Tumblr media
(Thank you, hallucination Non <;3) to expose them??? Especially when the only other person who knew about the hidden cameras was Phee. It makes no sense! Sure, he might've contemplated the murder, but on a later phase of the plan, I think. The priority was, always, to get them to confess on camera so he could later use the recordings to expose them to the country and clear Non's image. 'Cause we cannot forget, while the people close to Non don't buy the bullshit TV news sensationalist story (and, therefore, are searching for the truth), the rest of the country thinks Non is a slut who ran away with mafia money and his teacher(because, like @delululover explains in this post: Asian culture tends to normalize grooming of older teens and even blame them for the situation).
So what are we seeing when Phee narrates the events? Well, probably just Phee's guesses.
He thinks New is deranged and has drugs and that Top is missing and now they're being attacked by this person, who is conveniently wearing a mask. So he guesses that's Top. Plus, he doesn't know New was attacked by Masky in the middle of the forest.
He knows, like everyone else, that New had the hard drive. And, when Top and New go out in the woods with the bike he remains in the house. So, it's possible he saw the hard drive there where New left it before he went out.
Tumblr media
And, because the only 2 people remaining in the house, as far as Phee knows, are Fluke and White, and New DEFINITELY wouldn't want the drive to get into Fluke's hands, he must've assumed New wanted White to find it (which may or may not be true but it's irrelevant, I think).
And, yes, calm down, I can hear you scream: "But how did he know White watched the video???" And the answer I bring you is very simple: he didn't. He has no idea. And the best part is: you only think he knows because you know. But Phee never says that. He says New left the hard drive there for White to find. And that's it. He never mentions a video whatsoever.
Now, is it convoluted? Yes. Absolutely. But we have to think this is Phee we're talking about. He's the guy who always thinks he has the upper hand (a.k.a thinking he can save Non or that he's not falling in Love with Jin). It's almost impossible for him to think he's in the dark as to what is happening to them. After all, in his narrative of his life, he is the hero. And, I know, lots of people in the fandom see it that way as well, so... It's not impossible to imagine that's what the story is trying to sell us. It's trying to make us believe Phee knows. When in reality, I think, it's more likely that Phee's the embodiment of this meme:
Tumblr media
Okay. But then if New didn't do it, then who did? Because something is obviously going on with Top, right? And Uncle Dang IS very much dead. So what the fuck is that all about?
THE SECRET 9TH PERSON? ENTITY? THING?
As discussed several times by several people in this fandom, there's a very high possibility that there's someone else with them in the woods.
@blmpff points out the existence of various versions of the mask here. @subtextsays points out the crutches in the bathroom scene with Top here. There's this shit:
Tumblr media
Whatever it fucking means (besides the fact that it gives me the hibbie jibbies). Someone is also obviously taking care of the Janta cult because there's fresh food in the offerings.
Tumblr media
@raelle-writing also points out here that New is also seeing stuff even though our favourite insane motherfucker has got (and has been using!) the antidote.
And, as of episode 10, as @babyangelsky pointed out in this post. When PheeJin are lost in the damn woods, the cuts on the wood Phee supposedly make keep changing.
Tumblr media
Which makes both of us question if they're all the same cut or even all done by Phee.
So, I think this is enough to speculate Phee could very much just be misinterpreting the whole thing and attributing guilt to New when, in fact, someone else has been causing the deaths.
Now you may question who and that's all very fair. You should even. But that is not what this post is about and, frankly, thank god, because this is already a monstrous creation.
So let's pick this cut these cuts in the wood and use it as a segway to the last part of this, shall we?
PHEE IS AS BENEVOLENT AS A GREEK GOD
So Phee's mad. Super mad. He's passing around and cursing.
Jin, the only person he probably genuinely thought didn't do anything, is the one who recorded and posted the video.
And then Phee finds an axe. And, suddenly, Phee changes. Why?
Well, we have to look at it with what urges Phee to talk in the first place (besides his feelings and his wants): Phee is losing hope. He states it himself that he doesn't think they're going to be able to get out of the temple. So, he talks. Sure, he doesn't say everything but it's the closest to being honest with Jin we've ever seen him be.
And then their whole reality changes. Because Phee found an axe. And it all comes down on him: they are going to get out of there. And what now?
As @yellingaboutkp states in this post Phee is not only hard to read for us or confusing to the other characters (Jin mainly). He's also hard to read and confusing to himself: "...is Phee still playing Jin? It seems like he's trying to, but the more time he spends with Jin, the harder it's getting to stick to the plan."
Thus, what we see at the end of their time in the temple and alone in the woods is a mix of things, I believe.
Phee needs to feel like he's in control again. And with the original plan being ruined and Jin knowing too much (and there's no way he's not gonna speak, in fact, it's the very first thing he does when they arrive at he house) he's simply not. So when he tells Jin everything is gonna be alright, he's also trying to tell that to himself. He's trying to reassure himself that they're gonna get out of that huge mess. And, perhaps, in saving Jin also finding some redemption because, according to his own narration of the events, he let New go to far (as Jin points out).
Phee also knows more now. And maybe, if he was able to get Jin to speak once, without even having to force anything out of him. who knows if he cannot do it a second time in front of the cameras they've set inside the house? So he's trying to follow the script and manipulate him into trusting him, like he always has been trying to do. Except this time he's more bitter about it. And this, alongside with reason 1, is why these two scenes feel so different:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And lastly: Phee knows the catastrophic effects his words and actions had on Non when they broke up. He knows the consequences of his rage. It's the entire reason why he's there. Because he failed at being a good boyfriend the 1st time. Does he really want that to happen again? Does he want to fail Jin too? There's a reason (besides the story itself and his need to justify himself to Jin) why we see that flashback of his break-up with Non in this episode. And I believe this is it. (so yeah, I understand it might be frustrating to see Phee be more benevolent to Jin who fucked up big time than Non who didn't do anything, it is EXACTLY because he wasn't benevolent to Non that Jin is getting princess treatment)
So, in conclusion: Phee is fucking confused. And it carries on being that way for the rest of the episode. Phee calls New out but he doesn't seem to care too much about Por being dead on the couch. He helps Phee on the ground, but he doesn't say a thing about Fluke pointing a gun at Tee. Sure, he does ask for the gun at a certain point but isn't that just more of Phee's desperate need to get control back?
And we see this all come down to the preview of the next episode and what it's probably going to mean:
Tumblr media
Phee finally has got things under his control again. But this means, surprise, surprise, that Phee's gotta make a choice: to shoot (and stand on New's side) or not to shoot (and stand on the gang's side). Which, of course, metaphorically is a choice, in good romance and BL fashion, between 2 lovers: Non and Jin. But also, in good storytelling, as, once again, @raelle-writing (can't help myself, Rae's posts are FIRE 🔥🔥 sksksksksks) explores better in this post: a choice between the past and the present; continuing to drown in grief and a wish for revenge or choosing to move on and heal.
And, as I (YES, if I'm gonna tag a bunch of people and their works, YOU BET, I'm gonna link my own stuff) explore in this post about White's identity and role in the story (and other people in the fandom have commented), I'm inclined to believe he's gonna pick the gang, Jin, the present, healing. Because this is a story about the damage caused by cycles of violence and grief. And a story about how, the only way to stop them, is to choose not to participate in them by letting go.
CONCLUSION
Thank you for your time and attention. Feel free to comment and discuss this with me. And I'll see you either on my next long-ass monologue or next Saturday as we watch episode 11!
All the love 💜💜💜
PS: Shout-out to the group chat, including, but not limited to: @ayansbff, @cyberstalking and @squishysquadstuff who have listened to me ranting about this post since Saturday and told me to eat when I was too focused on writing it. Your patience was fundamental in carrying me through this monstrous project (it took me 10 hours to write this all) 💜💜💜.

A few times, I've heard Lisa and Rojda talk about how Young Royals is about the class system and a queer Prince, but also, it's relatable because not only do the cast look like teenagers, they act like teenagers in today's world. So it's also a show about teenagers. With that in mind, I'd like to talk about Simon Eriksson, working class, immigrant, and mixed race student at Hillerska, falling in love with the Prince.
Simon, in S1, deliberately kept any problems about Sara and his life at Hillerska hidden from his mum because he did not want to burden her. He lied to reassure her when she'd get worried about Sara and equally made decisions to help Sara's wellbeing at school. It seemed that he was taking care of his mum and sister when his dad left and after the abusive relationship that seemed to have really affected the whole family. This is why he doesn't share anything bad that he's going through with his mum. He's trying to protect her. He always has.
As to the comments he is getting. I think he is reading them because often they concern his family and are from the people in their town. That, along with the phone calls at night and hate-mail mentioned by Linda at the court hearing in S3 ep1, this means that he's on hyper-vigilance about threats to him and his family. So, my theory is that he is monitoring his comments and engaging to try to defuse things. But just like in all 3 seasons, his actions often lead to more problems.
This is a 16 year old kid, the youngest in his family, doing things an adult should be doing. This is very relatable for many working-class single parent families. Something to add about first-generation kids of immigrant families, having an extra layer of working to help the family navigate the country and society they're in.
Also, as to the comments, there have been many real life incidents, unfortunately , of teenagers getting hate comments online from their peers and bullied to the point of taking their own lives. Simply telling them not to read the comments may not have worked for them. (Yet so many reactors to this season think it's that simple).
Simon is getting a volumous amount of hate comments, which started right after the sex video was released in S1. At that point, the comments were in the print media.
He needs actual support, less obliviousness from the adults in his life about what is happening to him (that includes the Royal Court), and understanding about the actual effect of comments on his mental health from everyone around him. He is a victim of actual hate, and when I hear about any child going through that kind of regular abuse, my heart goes out to them.
Seeing how supportive Simon's dad could be in this 3rd season in his conversations with Sara, we can see how much Simon actually misses his dad. Because had he had a relationship with him, without the baggage of Sara's need for distance, he would have probably noticed that Simme needed help and been quite good at it, when he could manage it.
However, we as the audience seem to be blinded by Wille's more important problems, partly because the show is largely from his POV, but also because his pressures seem bigger. As a result, I've seen fans come down on Simon for not putting his life's woes in perspective to support Wille more. We start to see big cracks in their relationship and start to feel that they just won't work out.
But, they're also just kids in their first relationship. Miscommunication is completely normal at that age. They've only just been spending actual time with each other this season and getting to know each other. Yet they are dealing with adult problems, and so many of us fans are shouting at the screen - talk to each other! I feel like, if I were one of them, there is so much weight on me that I'd be too scared to open the floodgates and actually tell my boyfriend what's happening because I don't want to scare him. And no wonder they spend most of their time making out. It's the easiest part of their relationship and what gives them actual joy at the moment.
So I give grace to these characters and kudos to the creators of the show, for showing ACTUAL teenagers dealing with real life problems, amplified for drama because of the dichotomy of being a Prince and a commoner. But, I don't judge ANY of the characters when I apply the same analysis I've given here to Simon to all the other four characters. What this show requires of us adults is empathy for their plight and maybe a closer look at the teenagers in our lives. What it does for the teen audience is show them that they're not alone when they mess up or are dealing with life pressures. We as a society won't judge them. We will work to understand them and share their burdens.

I keep side eying the Vees dynamic because like, I think Vox and Velvette can handle themselves, y'know? They're overlords for a reason, together they both control basically all non-sexual media in Hell, which even then they still technically have a stake in the sex stuff as the distributers of it, and even though Vox is weaker then Alastor, he can still hold his own against him, which is impressive in and of itself tbh. I just. Do not trust Valentino. At all. Like Vox and Velvette seem to respect eachother, y'know? There's some tension there, like they don't really trust eachother, but they generally view eachother as equals, right? Valentino clearly does not respect either of them. Like just straight up does not care. He wrecks all of Velvette's shit because he's pissed, Vox has to scream in his face to get him to calm down, he manipulates Vox into fighting Alastor just because he can, that fucking shot of him and Vox in Poison...
I don't want to assume Vox and Velvette are straight up victims in this scenario, because there's still so much of the Vees dynamic we haven't actually seen yet, and like. They're supposed to be the villains. We're not supposed to root for either of them. Making them Val's victims would kinda negate that, because it makes you WANT THEM TO SUCCEED AND GET AWAY FROM HIM. However, I do not fucking trust that man. I just fucking don't. Like, especially after watching Princess Weekes' video on mutual abuse? I don't wanna fucking victim blame on accident because "oh they're just as bad" when really all we've seen of the 3's dynamic so far has been Val doing something shitty and the other two retaliating/reigning him in. Toxic cess pool relationships are all fun and games(in FICTION) until you start spotting patterns, and the one's I've spotted are not looking good. Working with Valentino is like playing with fire. Vox and Velvette are playing with fire.
Oh also! There are rumors about a spin off about the Vees? Which I cannot actually use as speculation because we don't know if it'll happen or when that potential spin off would take place in the timeline, but that spinoff even being considered probably says something about their dynamic. Idk what but like. It's something for sure.

a few points ...
1. 'poor things' is only "a porno" if your own patriarchal gaze inhibits and degrades her down to a sex object. bella views all experiences in her life as holding equal weight in that they are informative to her, whether good or bad, and she has an insatiable desire for knowledge. "if i know the world, i can improve it."
2. bella would fiercely resist her story being depicted in a way that censors anything as to her and any person who has the capacity to see her AS a person, sex is a part of her life, she has no shame about it, and would want it all shown honestly. you see, this film isn't told how you want it told, which is likely unfairly biased by social onuses. it's told how bella would want it told as telling a story about a woman in a way that ensnares her in the very confines she spends the entire time resisting wouldn't be very liberating, now would it?
3. the pearl clutching with the nudity is inherently sexist because you are blaming a woman- fictional and her real life counterpart, whose role and agency as a producer you insidiously deny- for a man's putrid views. you really think men (or anyone who harbors patriarchal views) viewing women as objects is going to change if they have clothing on or not? it's victim blaming.
i always am disheartened when i hear emma and yorgos, in poor things promotional content, talk about how society is a nasty place but they're hopeful the world is ready to see bella's story. unfortunately, it seems many weren't, but it was never about you, anyway. it was about removing the unjust societal conditioning that holds us- not just as women but as people- prisoner and allowing a woman to experience life on her own terms. i'd suggest asking yourself why this bothers you so much, if applicable. it would seem a little introspection could do you good.
it should be the goal of all to improve, progress, grow. perhaps the film can serve as impetus to those who desperately need to with regard to their own biases.

I have a very general ask to rattle off before I leave the house!! I've been revolving the idea of sending this in my mind for a few days, but I think that last post you reblogged is a sign that I should just do it XD Because it kind of relates to my questions... sorry if it seems disjointed, I'm sort of rushing to get it out of my system ^^
When you imagine anything with your F/Os, is it you you that you're picturing? Or like. An idealized version of yourself? Is anything about her different or is she just straight up *you*? I've had this image in my head for so long of someone who thinks like me, but looks and acts quite different - almost like an OC. I think I'm getting a bit better about this though, I've been working on making my Sim self and it's helping 😅😅
From looking through this blog, it seems like you usually imagine your F/Os with you in the real world? Do you ever imagine yourself in their universe? For me I almost always imagine myself as a character in their universe!
I'm still warming up to the idea of F/Os... but for as a long as I can remember I've had daydream scenarios with soooo many different characters over the years. But I always just considered them maladaptive daydream scenarios 🙈🙈🙈 I LOVE the enthusiasm you have for your F/Os, though!! <3
Marinerainbow or anyone else is welcome to share their thoughts too, but there's no pressure to do so of course :D
💛💕💛💕💛💕 I love this ask, its so interesting! ^^
First of all- @marinerainbow , what are your thoughts here? ^^
As for me: First of all I think with F/O stuff you can - of course, - be whatever the hell you wanna be!! If thats an idealised or just, plain, fictional version of yourself- ball!! ^^ For me I generally just imagine myself. Though, admittedly, a slightly more confident, and open version of myself XD
As for the w o r l d, I usually imagine- it depends on the day XD Here are the various worlds I imagine myself in with them XD I put them under the cut cuz it partly answers the question and its also just me waffling about my various ongoing fantasies 😅
All of them: Some weird in-between world set in London with Cruella. Somehow the other 3 live there too now in this one 😅
All of them: Variant of same in-between world except I live in Maine with Jim because I l o v e the idea of living near a lake or in the bush/woods or something- I swear, if I could live out in the sticks I'd never be anxious ^^ Usually in this one, Otis lives in the basement XD
All of them: Different variant of same in-between world except I just live in Aus this time and am upholding 4 different long distance relationships 🤣 XD
Jim: The Lake Placid universe. Yes, I imagine myself in the universe! ^^ I'm not a character in the story, though, I generally imagine I'm cursed or the multiverse glitched or something and I ended up dropped in the last fictional universe I watched on TV XD So I'm just there, knowing e x a c t l y what happens and when in this story but keeping my mouth sealed s h u t about it (*cough* while shooting my shot with Jim) XD
Jim (Variant): At the moment I'm playing with a variant of this one where a version of me does already exist in the Lake Placid universe when I get there- and she's a... shall we say... adult movie star XD 🤣 Its fun!
Otis: The H1000C universe. Same as the Lake Placid one above. I end up in this universe at Spaulding's petrol station with a friend from the real world (Who either knows the story or doesn't- both can be equally fun cuz I'm either freaking out with them or freaking out for the both of us XD) and get wrapped up in the story with the main victims while trying to get the hell out before Otis sees me cuz n o I don't wanna get m u r d e r e d thank you very much-
Any of them: Switcheroo. They get dumped in t h i s (o u r) universe/timeline. And I have to keep them hidden so no one recognises them as their actor in public.
Any of them: Switcheroo Variant. We both end up in a separate universe and have to work together to get the hell out. Catch? This universe already has a version of them (A different character by the same actor. For example if the focus F/O is Jim it could be the ANOES universe. Or if the focus F/O is Otis, it could be Texas Chainsaw Massacre! XD) and possibly a different version of me as well and we have to avoid meeting/making eye contact with these other versions in order to avoid a fault in the space time continuum or whatever 😅 (And also avoid other problems that might come along with meeting characters like Freddy Krueger or Inkubus or Chop Top Sawyer🙃)
So yes... I do like to use the real me in my F/O fantasies (feels more personal for me ^^) but its not always the real world XD Its not always their fictional world. A lot of the time its just random 😅 Its completely up to you individually what you do with your daydreaming! ^^ It is s o so individual and self indulgent.
I hope this helps you? Or was interesting? 😅😂 I wish you so much luck in your future F/O-ing! XD Its all good fun and it can be comforting too ^^ And I wanna hear all about it if you ever wanna gush! Here are your free gush tickets 🎫🎟🎫🎟🎫🎟🎫🎟🎫🎟 They're infinite and theirs no expiry date! ^^

ty for letting me know!! i will now be a menace with requests teehee
can i have a short and busty afab survivor dating clown and doctor <3
i appreciate this greatly im blowing kisses at u as we speak
Tumblr media
Im so sorry for the wait. I hope that you enjoy this and feel free to send me requests anytime dear 💚💚💚
::readmore::
Clown and Doctor with a short and busty AFAB survivor significant other:
Warnings: Canon typical violence, fluff, slight mentions of nsfw
Doctor| Herman Carter
Tumblr media
Herman Carter is an intelligent man from his experience in psychology and the human mind. Even if he uses his intelligence for his own sadistic lust.
Herman has two sides when it comes to his survivor girlfriend/ significant other: during trials and when the both of them are alone.
During trials, the Doctor would either let them take hatch or would sacrifice them last. The other survivors could tell how easy he his on his girlfriend/ significant other but wouldn't dare speak of it.
Once it's just him and his significant other, he shows a more softer side. Between careful touches, to the both of them talking in depth of psychology, and him showing his partner the various machines in Léry Memorial Institute, he tries to show his partner that he cares about them the best he could.
He knows that he's not able to be physically affectionate towards his girlfriend because of the high risk of him accidentally hurting her so Herman tries to bond with her by doing things that helps the both of them get to know each other better.
Not many survivors or killers would dare to talk about his girlfriend's body around him. Survivors know that the sadistic Doctor would make their trials a even worse living hell than already. Most of the killers aren't going to say a peep after witnessing a certain killer (*cough* Danny *cough*) nearly get electro shocked to death after Herman caught him trying to take pictures of his girlfriend's chest.
Herman, in a relationship would like someone who he could talk about the human mind with, seeing them more as an equal rather than his lab rats to gain knowledge about and control over. He wouldn't want anyone too smart to argue with, but someone who can understand what he's trying to convey.
Tumblr media
Jeffrey Hawk tends to be a self centered man, all he cares about is the power he has when he hunts his victims. He never thought that anyone would want to be with him because of his sadistic personality.
Both survivors and other killers could agree that it was a shocker to see someone as cute as them being in a relationship with sadistic Clown. Hell, even Jeffrey himself couldn't explain how the both of them ended up in a relationship with each other.
Jeffery noticed how much smaller his girlfriend/ significant other was compared to him, reminding him of the small birds he used to see growing up. Instead of wanting to harm them, he wants to hide them in his carriage and keep them as his greatest prize.
Given the perverse background Mr. Hawk has, he's definitely noticed his girlfriend's well gifted large breasts. And he's obvious about his admiration of his girlfriend's body.
Although he's all for admiring his significant other's body, he will kill any survivor who even looks at his significant other's body, let along say anything about them. He's been into some fights with a few of the killers (*cough* Danny, frank, and Ji woon *cough*) that caused the entity to punish him.
When the both of them aren't in trials, they're usually enjoying the few minutes alone they're able to have with each other. It can range from taking care of Maurice all the way to being on his smaller bed, cuddling together.
Personally, I don't think that he would ever show his face to his significant other because of the fact that it's foreign for him to strip away the clown persona to show his partner the real him.

notre dame by paris paloma reminds me so much of The Silt Verses so I MUST write about it
‼️spoilers for the entire series so far‼️
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This reminds me so much of Paige and Hayward's position in Season 3. They didn't choose to be the leaders of a cause, Paige says so herself in Chapter 32 that their intention was to create a weapon that could be used by victims and martyrs. Instead their faith has become an international movement, one neither of them could have imagined. They created a god that shakes the concept of faith in the world they inhabit. Yet Paige is isolated by it. She's the prophet of a god she created, one that reflects the turmoil over her mother's death and directly results in her father's death. She trusts Hayward but disagrees with him. She's become less of a participant in her own faith and more of an observer, and she's deeply unhappy. Hayward, in comparison, has found both hope and meaning. He's still lying, but he's lying for a cause he believes in. He's charismatic and likeable, a natural leader where Paige is not. He doesn't revel in the choices he has to make, but understands they're necessary.
Tumblr media
Any line about exile automatically makes me think of Carpenter. She is an exile multiple times over. She believes herself to be exiled from her own humanity, but due to the guilt and shame clearly expressed in her interaction with the Sorrow-And-Shame (Chapter 24) it's clear that she is incredibly human. Exiled from her family, partially imposed upon her by their deaths and partially self-imposed by her choice to change her name. Exiled from the Parish of Tide and Flesh when she loses her faith and defects at the end of season 1, and by Faulkner pinning Mason's death on her at the end of season 2. She found meaning in acting for the Parish, and going on pilgrimages when she was 18. She found meaning in the Cairn Maiden, but it is not her calling. She helps Paige and Hayward because it gives her life direction. She's spent her whole life running, yes, but she's also spent her whole life searching for meaning.
Tumblr media
This section just reminds me of the world building of The Silt Verses as a whole. In a world full of so much inequality, suffering is inevitable. It's what makes Paige and Hayward's creation of the Many Below/Woundtree so powerful, and such a threat. So many people have been wronged by the system that the Linger Straits and the Peninsula have both been built on and that sorrow can only last so long before it turns to anger.
Tumblr media
I think this is equal parts both Faulkner and Carpenter. Of course, Faulkner could very well be described as a sinner but he is looked up to as a Katabasian and Prophet of the River (albeit due to his manipulation and charisma). In many ways he does belong, or at least he strives to belong. But he's an outsider to the faith, constantly having to prove himself worthy at every turn. In comparison, Carpenter should feel belonging - her family were extremely influential within the Parish. Except she doesn't belong either. Both of these characters struggle with their own identity and belonging, although in very different ways.
Tumblr media
Faith genuinely seems to give people in The Silt Verses comfort (the Children of the Woundtree, the Parish of Tide and Flesh). The final line fits a number of characters: Acantha, Carpenter, Faulkner and Paige. Acantha buries the dead, she exudes so much kindness in her worship of the Cairn Maiden. She provides peace to the desperate, who can no longer find it in anything other than a restful death. Carpenter, but acting for the Cairn Maiden, and with her inclination to help save others, is similar to Acantha. She's far less patient, and much snarkier, but she has a genuine passion to care for a look after others. This is even sometimes to her own detriment (Chapters 19, 29 and 34). Faulkner believes himself to be a prophet, he perhaps has an elevated sense of his own importance and acts according to it. But he's very capable of acknowledging when his actions have doomed others (chapter 28) and when he has failed. He has confidence in his own skills as a leader. Paige is the most unwilling in her position in "looking down". She has had this role thrust upon her, where others look up to her for guidance. Her god's role is to help the desperate and hopeless. Again she is an observer of what she has created, and has very little control over it.

Characters: Yae Miko, Lisa, Ningguang, Mona, Beidou x gn!reader
Original request: May I make a request for how they're like bringing them to meet the reader's parents? Thank you~ <3
Warnings: none
A/n: Ah i hope this was good ! I had to repeat some story lines I did in the first one because I see some of these characters acting pretty similar so they’re not as unique as I hoped they’d be. Nevertheless I hope you still enjoy anon <3
Link to Prt. 1 (Not connected, only if you want more)
Tumblr media
• Yae Miko being the Guuji of the Narukami Shrine is impressive enough, her high political status swooning your parents on another level. Even if she didn’t hold her meticulous title she probably would just manipulate them into liking her using their deepest insecurities.
• Since Miko was never one to do things the normal way, she’d wanna have some fun while meeting your parents. You’d beg her not to play any of her games with them, but like the fox, she was you knew your words had no meaning to her.
Miko knew she couldn’t walk up to your doorstep empty-handed even though she was the Guuji. She even dressed up for this occassion, picking fresh Sea Ganoderma just for your mother as you two stood behind the door that would open a new future for the two of you. “How do I look hmm?” She asked you adjusting her earrings.
“You look perfect Miko,” you told her. You hadn’t had much time to discuss the battle plan for tonight with you her due to both of your busy schedules, but you trusted Miko enough to be competent enough for such tasks. Your parents must’ve heard the commotion outside, opening the door before you could knock.
“Ahh- Lady Guuji,” your mother answered. A bead of nervous sweat dropping her forehead, she had of course heard the rumors of her unusual cruelty from victims such as the everso popular Thoma. Your father peeking behind your mother in support and in equal mistrust.
“Good evening, how are you madame?” was all she said, making you relax at the seemingly normal start. She had a wide smile on her face as she handed your mother the blue flowers. Stepping inside as she took her sandals off as lady-like as possible. Looking around your childhood home she was needless to say a little disappointed, not to say she expected much. “My my~ what a... cute little home you seem to have,” she complimented your mother with slight hesitation.
“Why thank you,” she replied, as nice as Miko seemed to be coming off, you could tell the backhandedness of her comments. Elbowing Miko to cut it out before she mentions something out of line. Before she could speak back to you, the smell of freshly fried tofu wafted from the dining table, “I hope you enjoy Fried Tofu, I heard it’s very popular nowadays,” your mother added, hoping to win over the fox lady.
Tumblr media
• Back in Sumeru, Lisa was a renowned scholar. Impressive even for the land overseen by the Archon of Wisdom. However, in Mondstadt, Lisa was just your average Librarian. She might’ve even built a reputation for herself for being the crazy witch who chases you if you have an overdue book.
• Though Lisa wasn’t known as the Purple Rose for no reason, she was charming. Regardless of your parent’s misconceptions of her, she was bound to make them come around even if it were at a later date. Her tenacity and refusal to give up were certainly a feat amongst parents.
Lisa was a very voluptuous woman both physically and personality-wise. The sexy woman standing with you behind your childhood home’s door, a smirk on her face as she twirls her hair in between her fingers. You looked nervous, exceptionally so that she was to meet your parents. “You needn’t worry cutie,” she told you. “Don’t you remember who I am? Miss Lisa has everything under control.”
Her words make you increasingly anxious. She always said that whenever she had absolutely no plans, trusting her intuition more than a calculated plan. “See watch this,” she teased you while you gave her a ‘really?’ look. She knocked four times on your door, taking a deep breath.
Your mother opening the door, Lisa ready to put on the fakest show of her life. “Why hello, how are you love,” she said in a high pitch as she went in for a hug. Your mother played into her embrace acting like they had known each other for ages. “I’ve even brought you something,” she pulled out a box of heart chocolates wrapped in a purple rose. Some caramel flavored, some orange, some dark chocolate.
It didn’t take much for your mother to be impressed by her womanly charm. “You never told me your lady was a chocolate connoisseur?” Your mother teased you, little did she know you didn’t know either. Rolling your eyes as you found yourself in a certain predicament. Your father standing behind your mother as he too felt the same weird vibe between the two women.
He made an awkward giggle as he signaled your all to funnel inside the house, regardless of the fake acts and overexcited greetings you could tell Lisa was a master at blending in. She was going to win your mother over whether it was the last thing she did.
Tumblr media
• The Tianquan of the Liyue Qixing was all you had to say. It was an honor for your parents to even have a conversation with her beyond annoying small talk. Ningguang didn’t even have to talk in order to impress your parents beyond their imagination.
• Ningguang would be showered in admiration the moment she stepped into your house. She didn’t need any training or housewarming gifts to swoon your parents. She could’ve been a Hilichurl incapable of speech and they’d still grovel on their feet for even a word with her.
Ningguang wore a specially tailored dress just for the occasion, even though she was the Tianquan she wanted to make this moment special because you were involved. You two made it to your front porch, offering your hand to your lady as she took the step up to the ‘welcome home’ mat on the floor. The door swung open to your little humble childhood home without even a knock.
“Welcome Lady TianQuan,” your father said, offering his hand for a strong and firm handshake. “My wife is just down the hall, she’s prepared some home-cooked meals just for you.” he tried to impress her. Your mother always had the best cooking, her stews and soups were to die for.
The smell intoxicated her as she felt a little saturated in the enviroment. Most of the people she conversed with were greedy businessmen and corrupt politicians, not giving them the time of day and rude chit-chat was all she was accustomed to. But your sweet little home was enough for her to get comfy and cozy, a refreshing maternal feeling she got. Her cheeks turned a rosy red. “Don’t mind if I do,” Ningguang said softly.
She set the small but expensive jade present for your parents on the nightstand beside your door, taking off her heels as she made her way into the kitchen, her nose guiding her. Your mother was rambling in her own little world as she was speechless in front of the tall woman. She had always been a humble woman. “Do you mind if I help you prepare the stew? I can mince the onions if you’d like?” Ningguang offered.
Ningguang fit in well in the tiny house, her warm presence filling the void. Your parents despite their initial nerves seemed to bond well with her, your worries washing away that they might embarrass you or that they’d butt heads.
Tumblr media
• Mona might have been a great astrologist’s apprentice, but in Mondstadt, she was quite unknown. She was nothing more than an Astrologer if lucky, just a broke fortune teller to most. Her words often stung like knives if they carried any weight for her status.
• Mona was definitely not someone who you could trust walking blind-sighted into dinner with your parents. You’d have to train her from making any cruel or unusual remarks, it was like trying to tell a stubborn cat what to do. Almost losing faith in her ability to win over your parents altogether.
Mona held her chin up high, you made her solemnly swear not to use any of her astrology ‘things’ on your parents, let alone not say anything out of pocket. She promised you that if she needed to conform to a standard in order to fit in she would, this being one of those times. “Remember to bite your tongue Mona, I don’t want to hear your sneaky remarks to my parents,” You said as you knocked on your door, Mona behind you as she flipped her hair sassily with a pout.
Your mother answered the door with a big grin as she brought you in for a hug. The young woman behind you looking small and awkward as her foot tapped anxiously on the concrete porch. “Nice to meet you, I’m Mona Megistus,” Mona’s arms were folded, but her hand reached out to shake your mother’s, “A-although, you can just call me Mona.”
You had your first sigh of relief, she showed a sign of humility, compared to when you first had met her. Your father coming out of the darkness of your home to greet her as well, his large figure towering over Mona’s. Her eye twitched and her smirk turned crooked, she was nothing short of being intimidated. Without her astrology knowing whether someone was bad news was a mystery.
But if it was your father he couldn’t be bad, right? “Pleased to meet you as well s-sir,” she said shakily. She wasn’t prepared to feel so nervous, this was supposed to be another walk in the park. Almost forgetting about the housewarming gift that you had bought her to give to your parents, the small package sitting in her pouch.
You lightly elbowed her in her side, making her squeak a little. Although annoyed, your presence was grounding to her, finding hope in the fact that you were standing right behind her in a time of need. “Mona, my dear we’ve heard much about you,” your mother finally said breaking the awkward silence. Your small nudge was all she needed in order to break the ice, feeling comfortable after realizing if these people had raised you, they must be good people.
Tumblr media
• Being the Captain of the Crux was certainly impressive, if they cared enough that is. In Liyue the Crux might’ve been a fascinating dream amongst Children, but to adults who work a 9-5, they were nothing but criminals. Disrespecting the Liyue Qixing every chance they got.
• You would have to teach Beidou a whole bunch of things about basic etiquette. Whether it be table manners, speech, or even how to dress like a lady. If not told otherwise she probably would’ve belched or even picked her nose in front of your parents who expected quite a lot from you.
You were nervous for Beidou to meet your parents, you had even told her she should fake her occupation so they don’t judge her too harshly. She, however, thought it was shameful to hide her legacy. You had to whip her into shape, arms linked as you walked the pathway to your front porch, she was still trying to convince you she was a catch just as she was. “If I don’t be myself now, how will they accept me later?” Beidou argued.
Your mother who had opened the door prematurely much to your surprise stood at the doorstep, her arms folded sternly as she looked down on the tall woman but lean woman. Her dress was formal and modest, but it didn’t hide her scars and lean body shape. Her mean appearance shocked your poor mother. “My my~ who hurt you, my dear,” she asked Beidou like she was her daughter-in-law already.
Beidou glanced at you sternly with confidence, and then back at your mother as she was ready to state the truth. “I got this fighting monsters that lurk on the sea’s floor,” Beidou had her chin held high, a smirk on her face. She thought that if she cut to the chase, skipped a couple of chapters, they’d accept her faster. Your father creeping behind with an intrigued look on his face.
“A monster? Good celestias, what an imagination you have child.” Your mother gasped as she shooed Beidou in the house quickly. “You’ll have to tell me more over food, it’ll get cold if we wait too long.” Your mother didn’t buy it, but oh archons would she be in a ride, Beidou’s stories could go on for ages.
Your father followed closely behind still interested as he looked Beidou up and down. He wasn’t as skeptical as your mother, her strong figure surely told him that she must’ve done something dangerous to have such strong arms. A firm hand on Beidou’s shoulder as he whispered to her. “My wife isn’t as trusting as me, but I trust you will protect our little one will you not?” His words brought a queasy smile to Beidou’s face.

Hi! <3 I finally took some time this winter break to read Prism and it was absolutely incredible. I really appreciate the obvious amounts of time and effort that must've gone into creating such an intricate and heavy story. I think there's sometimes a tendency to portray victims of almost anything as blank slates and perfect, empty vessels of whatever trauma they've experienced. This never sits right with me so I really apreciate your dedication to creating such well rounded and devastatingly real characters.
It has been so so fascinating to spend some time in Steve's head and get to know some of his darker and more intense desires. They're kinda like snakes too sometimes, for Steve, I think. There's something almost equally serpentine to the things he wants and the things that make him feel good and safe. I just wanted to thank you both for taking things so deep and far with his character. Getting through those darkest days with him and ending up on the other side of it was a catharsis I've rarely experienced with fiction. All my love <3
I have a question, though! It's something I've been thinking about since reading that specific chapter and I can't get it out of my head. It seems that Eddie was very deliberate in getting Steve's fingerprints all over the drugs he later planted in Billy's car. I still can't quite figure out why this was so important to him. Hopper even mentions later that they're not persuing any drug related charges because he wants to keep Steve out of it. Wouldn't it have been much easier to get Billy out of the way if the cops could've pinned all the drug charges on him alone? I think Eddie must've known that Hopper would jump in to save Steve like that. Was he trying to clean his own hands from the drug related stuff as well? Was he worried that he would be implicated otherwise? I may have missed this explanation since there were some small parts I've skimmed for mental health reasons, but I was still very curious about this.
Looking forward to the new chapter!
I hope you have a lovely weekend <333
Oh, what an amazing and wonderful thing to share, thank you SO much!! We are so happy that people are resonating with parts of the story and I really do believe in and will always fight for the importance of catharsis through a controlled narrative frame.
To answer you Q, yes! This was very deliberate and Eddie's motives here are somewhat sneaky beyond "involving Steve", so at surface level, Steve's fingerprints being on the drugs means that firstly, Hopper would feel insanely protective of Steve (something Eddie anticipated way in advance, he knows more about Hopper than we realise at this point) and he would interfere to ensure Steve was kept out of it, and that Billy's whole thing was expedited under the table.
Secondly, it keeps Eddie's drug business untouched by official law. People would have asked where all that cocaine came from and Billy would have LOVED telling them, but to protect Steve, Eddie knew he would probably keep his mouth shut and go along.
Thirdly, and this I can only allude to vaguely, but Eddie doesn't really want Billy's case "air tight". He also wanted Hopper to bend the rules if not outright break them because a bent cop (albeit a good hearted one) is potentially useful to him down the road.
The thing here is that Eddie didn't really want Billy out of the way, he could have dispatched of him a long time ago much easier. It had to be Steve's choice (so Eddie thinks of it) and Steve's involvement and Steve's path. Eddie thinks of that whole encounter as having minimal interference from him, he's that delulu. It's also worth noting that Eddie, in somewhat terrifying fashion, has actual feelings for Billy, in a way a shark might have feelings for a human it sees swimming above on a surfboard. As we see in the previous chapter, he likes to set things up and have them ready (the order to kill Billy) but ultimately he can be quite mercurial. Eddie is not done with Billy and he's good at leaving doors half open, little opportunities to return to later if he so desires because he knows himself and anticipates his own desires way, way in advance.
I hope this was helpful! Prism is LONG and complex and if a small thing is mentioned and seems strange, it's usually done on purpose and will later be important so well done for noticing!
All my love, Az.

Do you hear that? What's the sound? Oh, that's the sound of the BESTIE TRAIN COMING THROUGH, CHOO-CHOO!!!
A day in the life of Fubuki Clockford, let's goooooo!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Aww! The fortune teller says we're going to have good fortune. ^_^
Hey, don't laugh. This world features genetically-engineered homunculi and shinigami detectives who remotely kill people. Who says divination can't be real too?
Tumblr media
I mean, she's probably trying to upsell a nearby casino but I'm going to remain optimistic. This will be our BEST. DAY. EVER.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Good for you, Fubuki! With your spotty memory and distractibility, you're exactly the kind of person that casinos prey on. Someone who could easily lose track of how much they can afford to spend or get swept up in the theatricism and not realize how they're being swindled.
Tumblr media
Like... like off a building or something?
Tumblr media
I dunno, let's see what the title card thinks.
Tumblr media
That's a resounding yes! Come on, Fubuki! Gonna be sunshine and roses today!
Well. Probably not sunshine. In Kanai Ward. In fact, I think that would constitute a tremendously bad day, all things considered.
...protective rainclouds and roses!
Okay let's go see what "Someone fell from the sky" is about. Maybe they brought presents.
Tumblr media
Aww, but I want to know your lucky number. It might be important later.
Also SQUEE I get to play as Fubuki. Y'all, I have been wanting to dump Yuma and go play as Fubuki since chapter 3.
...okay, chapter 2. As soon as Yakou was like, "She has an ability that will let her evade Peacekeepers with no trouble," I wanted to forget whatever shenanigans Yuma's going to get up to and go with her instead.
IT'S NOT MY FAULT, FUBUKI'S GREAT. FUCK YOU.
Incidentally, the window sign reads "COFFEE EQUALS *ONE* HAPPY DAY" so I am thinking we should get some coffee. <.< Though that might just be me falling victim to marketing.
Tumblr media
Oh shit. There he is. In the middle of the street. Feral Population +1.
He had to have fallen from a building, right?
Tumblr media
Okay, thanks for that clarification. Anyone know which building?
Tumblr media
I realize you may find this hard to believe, and maybe harder with each passing moment that we talk, but I am a trained professional.
Tumblr media
Or we can go with that as our opener, sure. I figured we'd slowly whittle down their confidence in us over the course of conversation but Fubuki's a master at going from 100 to 0 in record time.
Tumblr media
HOLY SHIT HE'S ALIVE
We don't know how long he'll be conscious. Ask him questions quickly and see if he can answer. Then if he passes out, we can turn back time and ask different questions, over and over until Fubuki passes out. Straight-up min/maxing this interrogation!
Tumblr media
I mean. She isn't wrong. These buildings are several stories tall and he landed on his face. On cement. His skull should be chunky salsa right now.
Clearly, Fubuki's great fortune is keeping him alive.
Tumblr media
Three? What about three? Three what? Three muggers? Three rungs on a ladder? Three-
IS THAT A FUCKING D6 NEXT TO THE BODY!?
Did this guy use his final breath to read off the value on his die?
Oh my god, we're going gambling, aren't we? This case is going to involve gambling. Oh fuck.
...
We should go find out what our lucky number is.
Tumblr media
I. Don't. Think he can, bestie. It's okay. Your Lucky Day powers scored us a valuable piece of testimony, unassuming though it may seem. Could you cast a glance at that die on the ground? I want to confirm what value it's showing.
Tumblr media
Guys, it's nothing short of a Lucky Day miracle that he lived this long. He doesn't need an ambulance at this point. He needs a coroner transport truck to move him into the Restricted Area.
Tumblr media
We have our mission. We must solve the mystery of the number three. At this time, our suspect list includes:
1 - The fortune teller lady. She seemed interested in pushing a number on us, and three is a number. Seems suspicious, lady. 2 - The Count from Sesame Street. There may be more bodies lying around. ONE! TWO! THREE MURDERS, ah ha ha! 3 - Yomi Hellsmile. Because he sucks and should always be considered suspicious. 4 - Halara Nightmare.
Right now, I'm honing in on Yomi as my prime suspect. Because he's number three on the list. Three's a pretty suspicious number to be at, Yomi. What else do you know about threes?
Tumblr media
Let's go! Maybe we can get a little more context for the three.
Tumblr media
You know what, that's a much better idea. We'll call that Plan B.
Because we should try it B-FORE trying to hear his dying words more clearly! If Plan B fails, we resort to Plan A-lternative.
Tumblr media
...okay but I still want to know our lucky number. We can spare some time, right?
Tumblr media
Drat. But. The number. It might be three. That could be a clue.
Tumblr media
Plan B was a good effort but we didn't hustle fast enough. That might be because I stopped to try and get our lucky number from the fortune teller lady. I'm sorry for that.
How's Plan A looking?
Tumblr media
Rudimentary first aid says that in the event of a possible broken neck, jerking the body around is--
I can't even finish my joke because look at his face. He can't take his eyes off that fucking d6. I wonder if it's a three again?
Tumblr media
Nope, this time came up two. That's interesting. It implies probabilistic differences between "runs" of the same time period. I'm getting flashbacks to Zero Time Dilemma.
Hm... Okay, let's try again and see if we can get there faster.

Hi! Um, I thought I would offer you these panels from utrh of Dick with a knee brace, as per your last few posts about disabled representation in comics. Also indirectly answering that other anon who said that representation in comics isn't exciting and can't work with them being superheroes...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And I mean, you can totally write intriguing and interesting stories about a character coming to terms with their disability and figuring out that while it makes them different from who they were before, they're still a fucking hero. (Like Babs becoming Oracle after losing the use of her legs. Making her walk again and be Batgirl again... Idk how you can call that anything other than ableism?? She's seriously cool as Oracle, that def didn't need any retcons.)
Anyway, I think the problem is that many people associate being disabled with ableist prejudices of helplessness, without even being fully aware of it. Which is exactly why more rep in any type of media would help!
my friend! your post is as wonderful and insightful as always and thank you so much for the panels, i forgot which comic they were from! this it was exactly what i was referring to and imagining when talking about his knee brace, thank you again!! i love how its something that allows him to continue being a hero and that it just exists instead of being a big plot point. just casual and normalized use of mobility aids my beloved <33
and absolutely agree in it creating interesting stories of them adapting and handling the changes they need to make because of their disability and how it doesn't make them weaker! i think to this panel from the batman chronicles specifically:
Tumblr media
[ID: Barbara Gordon smiling at white birds as she's in her wheelchair. Behind her un-detailed people are walking as they go about their lives. Her hair flows slightly in the wind and her internal narration boxes read, "A little over a year has passed since my old life ended, since I died and was reborn. The shadows remain, but only to give contrast to the light. I am no longer a distaff impersonation of someone else. I'm me - more me than I have ever been. My life is my own. I embrace it, and the light, with a deep, continuing joy." END ID]
the entire issue is so well done in her voicing her discomfort and fear and anger at her sudden disability and the change. because of course its frustrating to have that sudden change. of course she feels lost when she based her purpose on being batgirl, something that depended on her being physically abled. and seeing that voice and feelings being represented alongside of it highlighting and showing that she still has purpose and is just as powerful and capable of doing what she loves is so <3 she found her identity, not as an extension of anyone else but just as herself, as a disabled woman. and how happy she is!
i think abled people tend to be so uncomfortable with the idea of disabled people (especially physically disabled people) being happy or still being powerful. they hate the idea of disabled people not being weaker to them while also hating the anger and frustration that can come with being disabled. they hate seeing us successful and just as capable and hate seeing us as human rather than a "poor victim" to put up on a pedestal for inspiration porn that makes them feel better about themselves.
we're allowed to "motivation" to them as they simultaneously think its unnatural for us to be happy or successful on our own. we're either looked down at or held to standards that abled people arent - never to be equal. im allowed to be just as pissed off as someone that can walk and move around freely. i should be allowed to be as messy or rude as someone thats neurotypical without being viewed as a child to pity or as someone that should be better than them in my behaviour. i should be allowed to be smart and sexy and funny and complex as anyone else. my disabilities doesn't make me more or less of a person. it just makes me a person thats disabled.
disability is such a broad spectrum. from paralyzed, needing canes or wheelchairs or any mobility device, needing hearing aids or anything that's physically noticeable. to chronic pain and neurodevelopment disorders and other invisible disabilities. and everyone's experience is different with each one and its so vast. the opportunities it allows and how fascinating and empowering it'll be to see this range and how these characters handle it is unbelievable and such wasted potential. from dealing with the sudden frustrations and limitations to it just being part of them.
it can literally be one panel in a random comic that says nightwing needs a knee brace because of worn cartilage and have it be part of his character casually and consistently. have an ongoing arc and theme of random brain injury side effects because of the head trauma hes taken and have a moving moment in being reassured and how he struggles with it. have something.
theres so much they can do and just refuse not to. the only reason disabilities isnt represented is pure ableism, there is no excuse.

see, it's scenes like this that make me so beyond angry about the direction they took this arc in Season 3, and is one of the main reasons why I can not bring myself to give a single shit about anything this show does anymore.
Like I used to at least pay attention for Harley and Ivy's stuff and their relationship arc, cause I'm frankly not a huge fan of the humor or the writing for a lot of parts (but y'all know I will typically put up with a lot for Harley content) (not to mention all the other issues the shows got) but everything I've seen and watched about Season 3 just insulting to the severity of Harley's story. Namely because of all the shit they decided to pull with this bleached eyesore and his idk not redemption redemption arc. It's disgusting. Who the fuck cares what his politics are?!?
And this is just so out of character for Ivy?? What the hell??
She. Was. Fucking. Murdered. By. Him.
Why does it feel like that Fact been brushed off as just a silly thing to have no hard feelings over?? She literally died. He fucking harpooned her through the heart and she died in Harley's arms.
Why is she gossiping about their shared little annoyances that've come from being in a relationship with Harley?? It's an invasion of privacy??
He's Harley's abuser and she's chatting with him like he's their mutual friend and this is just casual banter.
"Seriously dude? I'm not gonna do that thing where we commiserate over the person we've both dated."
And then she precedes to do exactly fucking that over Harley not breaking down a cardboard box. Wow, brava' there honey. you really stood your ground. Tf is with this characterization for her??
And like, instead of maybe bringing up this little pet peeve to her girlfriend in casual conversation, she'd rather get into a casual gossiping session with Harley's Abusive Ex Boyfriend where they're talking about all the little things that are just so bothersome apparently that she just has to confide in The Joker about it.
Like??????
Not to mention, but I'm sorry, the writers attempts to completely dismiss and gloss over Joker's real actions and the story they themselves fucking built up in Season 1 is so damn obvious.
"You know what I really loved about her though? The way she went along with whatever planned I asked her to do. Even when I knew she hated the idea."
"Well, you know, add that to the shit pile of reasons you were a toxic partner and a total narcissist."
I'm sorry? Toxic partner? is that all? just a toxic partner? is there not maybe a better, more descriptive and on the nose word for the type of man he was during his relationship with Harley? Like Abuser / Abusive Partner.
Because, news flash to the writers, there is and can be a difference between being toxic, having toxic traits, or a toxic outlook on relationships, and being abusive towards your partner.
and This is just minimizing the extensive list of shit he put her through and labeling it all as solely "toxic partner" behavior.
He's An Abuser Who's Shown No Remorse Towards His Victim.
Say the fucking word. It exists for a reason.
It's not "toxic", it's abuse. It was an Abusive Relationship. He was an Abusive Partner.
And Ivy knows that?!?!?!?!
Why is she sugarcoating shit???
"What Harley and I have is 100% different. We are equals. I'd never ask her to compromise herself like you did."
Like, Ivy could have put her foot down on that much, much clearer. Because it's almost like their relationship is different and it's biggest difference is not a simple "well I don't ask her to compromise herself."
But having Ivy say something like
"well, I'm not an abusive piece of shit who physically assaults her and berates her when she doesn't do what I want like you did throughout the entirety of your relationship because you're a narcissistic, abusive dickhead."
kinda brings up the fact that oh, right, Joker's a fucking domestic abuser,,, and boy do they seem to wanna forget that was the entire characterization for him in Season 1 because it doesn't fit his rushed, poorly done "redemption arc" where he did exactly nothing to deserve it, but got one anyway.
Cause, apparently, no one that gets ahold of Harley's character will just permanently kill the motherfucker and give him the karma he deserves.

I blocked this anon but i wanted to use it as an example of a few things i feel it embodies very well:
1) The treatment of abuse and sa victims in this fandom is absolute garbage. People i follow are generally lovely but outside of them there are so many fans who have fucked up ideas of how abuse works and don't have any genuine sympathy for victims. I already noticed it when the show was airing and some fans mocked others who dared to have a strong reaction to hyperrealistic domestic abuse depicted in the show, like what did you expect from a show about blood-drinking monsters you're so fragile etc., as if fantasy violence that is distinctly imaginary and dv that is a very real existing destructive thing were in any way comparable. It shows as constant excusing and erasing of Lestat's actions and victim blaming against Louis and Claudia because people think only if you're perfect you can be a real victim when in reality anyone can be abused and it doesn't have anything to do with their moral character. I feel the way this fandom treats abuse victims is regularly rude and dismissive. If this anon is an abuse victim themselves like they claim it just makes it sadder because i would never talk another victim in this way and i did nothing to warrant a response like this
2) As this anon makes abudantly clear, the earlier Jonah discourse didn't really have much to do with Jonah or his relationship with Louis or any genuine analysis about the show, but some fans' enthusiastic desire to find more flaws in Louis to bring him down a peg and make him appear more evil so that other characters' actions would appear less awful. By 'other characters' i mean mainly Lestat because lets be real it's almost always the Lestat fans, and usually (white) book fans, doing that because they can't accept that the show unlike books doesn't act like the sun shines out Lestat's ass, so they need to find ways to make Lestat and Louis more equal in their shittiness so that Louis would be less of a victim in their relationship (because again, they imagine person's innocence and goodness define how much they're a victim). It's so stupid for many reasons but especially because Louis is already a very flawed character in canon! And Louis fans are usually the first ones to acknowledge this like i've seen close to zero Louis fans acting like he's a saint, his flawedness is a part of why we find him so interesting. He was a pimp exploiting women and in the present day he lives obscenely rich in a city built on slavery paying poor migrant workers to drink from them. You don't need to make up additional theories of him being a sexual predator to validate yourself. And you definitely don't need to insist a headcanon you made up based on one ambiguous line is actually irrefutable canon and other fans are abuse apologists when not agreeing with you. Good lord
3) Last but not least, going back to the first two; some people in this fandom have some very weird and harmful ideas about sexual abuse and are not taking it seriously enough. It left a bad taste in my mouth how many people acted like the whole Louis/Jonah thing was some smug "gotcha" moment and talking about in humorous or performative "oh i'm so shocked" way. I also found out there are alarmingly many people in this fandom who think someone in their late 20s having sex with a 16 year isn't sexual abuse. I'm asking everyone who thinks that to unfollow and block me. I guess that line of thinking is predictable considering how deeply the books are entreched in pedophilia and rape apologia so that many people who are big fans of them are going share Rice's deranged opinions. This is one of the fandoms where i'm happy that it's going to expand and have more and more non book readers who are capable of taking their lestat and rice goggles off, and the shitty section of old fandom will get more and more inconsequential

The him of all time 💖🥰💕😍💘
I love him so much, he's a huge petty spiteful flamboyant insane simping slutty asshole... but he also has flaws <3
Love how he works as Hector's foil, starting from a similar place of "the humans shunned me for being born cursed" but falling lower and lower in his servitude for Dracula. Love how in the PtR manga he calls himself a good weapon to be used. Love how, in the same manga, we see the contrast between his original honorable self, even willing to give Hector a sword to have a fair fight, and his cruel spear-wielding insane self. Love how, in the MF manga, he's willing to kill his own underlings to be free to kill Hector at his own leisure, even if Dracula asked him to bring Hector back, and still calls himself his most loyal servant because he can't even conceive the idea of being anything else. LOVE ADORE WANT TO EAT that moment when he sees that Dracula has died and the castle has fallen and his whole life has been destroyed and it's all Hector's fault for running away (shoutout to "why couldn't we even die together?", that's some bad survivor's guilt right there 🥺). Love that scene in the PtR manga where he forces Hector to watch Rosaly's death and then even dangles her head in front of him. Love how all his jealousy and grief are amplified up to eleven by the Curse, making him a victim as much as a villain, with the narrative neither condoning him nor demonizing him. Love his boss fights, especially the first one, where it really feels you're fighting your rival nearly equal to you. He's a good villain! Even if very self-contained. I just... really appreciate how he satisfies both the people who love their tragic villains and people who love shameless pieces of shit. It's me, I'm people.
also. he pretty <3 and his tattoos are super cool (seriously I would gush for hours about his design). and insane aristocracy owns my whole ass.
13) worst blorboficiation
What have they done to Alucard and Hector 🥺
I already mentioned that I resent how... fanservice-ified Alucard became thanks to the show that did not pass the opportunity to shove his tiddies in your face - hell, his first appearance has him shirtless for good measure. It's so funny to me how Alucard got sluttified, but Isaac was too much :P and at this point my eye twitches every time I read people gushing about Hector and calling him cute, because I know they're not talking about the real Hector, who can be cute but not in that horrible, horrible way the show portrays him as.
