Did someone say cosplay? Yep, someone on Instagram did. :D Ollys Dollhouse on Instagram is hosting a doll cosplay party today, so how could I not participate? Kenleigh is dressed as our favorite anime character, Inuyasha. Technically the sword isn't the Tetsusaiga, but A) it's too big/heavy for a Barbie to hold, and B) cosplay isn't always 100% accurate so I went with it. :D I did have some extra beads of subjugation, but the only way to get them on any doll is to remove the head, and I didn't want to do that LOL. So here you go, Kenleigh-yasha! :D

Hi there! There was a fic I was reading a long time ago, and while I don't remember too much about it anymore (it wasn't completed at the time) what stood out to me was a twist on the subjugation beads. Inuyasha could use the command "Stay" and Kagome would be (fairly gently, it didn't knock her over) dragged to his side. I know you've put together a list of reads having to do with the beads but have you heard of anything to do with a "Stay" command? It just seem like such a significant word to use. If you have or have anything similar I'd love to know!
Thank you for your time and effort!
Hi there! Unfortunately, we had a hard time trying to find the exact fic you're looking for. We're bringing in Shiroi to light up the Inuyasha Fandom in the hopes that someone knows what you're after for.
While we're here, Mod Lost put together a short list of fics that focus on subjugation beads as a plot point, as tribute. Happy reading! ❤

Subjugation Beads
The only reason Kikyou had created the beads was to protect her people and Inuyasha. Even so, that is not to say there wasn’t turmoil in her heart at the prospect of giving it to him and someday using them. There was a significant amount and it was a decision she did not take lightly. I am certain she hoped she never have to use them--but at the expense of his life and others--she couldn’t take the risk.
And I know the use of ‘beloved’ as the trigger word is confusing--but upon thinking about it--it is a demonstration of love. As stated, the beads were for the sake of him and the villagers. She loved him by the time of its creation. The easiest word that came to her mind for Inuyasha, was ‘beloved’. Something quite easy to recall..perhaps a bit dangerous if she used it too frequently..But nonetheless, it shows how much she loved him. How her thoughts were filled with pure adoration, even if she ultimately had to give him a spell bound beads to wear.
If Kikyou had to use it to snap Inuyasha out of his demonic state during those early days, it would have hurt her significantly to use it. However, preventing him from harming others and himself is important. Imagine her using ‘beloved..stop.” and Inuyasha is yanked to the ground, successfully snapped out of it..Kikyou would be at his side in an instant to ensure he was okay..And knowing her, apologize for using it while checking him over.
In the end, she didn’t give it to him. She had opted to believe in his abilities--to trust that he will not harm another or betray her by trying to steal the shikon jewel.
Kikyou is the embodiment of love. The beads were forged from love and meant to use with love--which unfortunately gets abused and becomes the opposite of what they were meant for.

Sid, why do you think people think Kagome is “so annoying” and “whiny?” How exactly did she earn this reputation among her (rather dumb) haters.
The world is not kind to 15 years old girls, and what is Kagome, if not the perfect representation of one?
Tumblr media
People forgot they can dislike a character just because and then move on. They'd rather grasp at straws to try and justify themselves, that way they can pretend they're being rational about the constant hate they're spreading when, truthfully, they're just being miserable.
Kagome specifically is in even greater disadvantage because her critics are, mostly, people who haven't read the source material and are instead basing their takes on a biased adaptation – which they probably watched ages before developping any critical skills – or people who see her as a threat to their ship and therefore are already prone to hate her.
The first group won't ever bother going out of their way to try and get a better grasp of her character by reading a 558 chapters long manga and the second group won't change their minds either way.
That's why they call her out for using the beads of subjugation even if: it wasn't her idea in the first place, it served to balance her relationship with Inuyasha at the beginning – since he was powerful and violent while she wasn't –, the rosary became a symbol of their bond, it saved Inuyasha a couple of times and he was always more annoyed than hurt by it, not to mention Sunrise blowing it out of proportion compared to the manga.
You never see Inuyasha getting bashed for hitting Shippo every other episode or Sango getting any heat for constantly slapping Miroku, because funnily enough people seem to understand it was just dumb, outdated, slapstick comedy, a courtesy they refuse to extend to Kagome.
Tumblr media
That's also the reason they call her “annoying” and “whiny”: Kagome’s most important lesson was that it's okay to have feelings, so naturally they twisted that into a bad thing in order to keep hating on her. It's not about how her character was written, it's about people using of bad faith and deliberately mischaracterizing Kagome to pass their internalized misogyny as valid criticism.
I know part of the issue is that audiences nowadays are under the impression that for a female character to be strong, she can't cry or be feminine, but you don't see anyone hating on Sango even though she does cry and she can be as feminine as Kagome depending on the circunstances and on her mood.
Tumblr media
The truth is that Kagome is playing a game she can never win, because the refs have decided they want her to lose before the match even starts.
If she stands up and sets boundaries for herself, she's annoying. If she doesn't, she's a doormat. If she feels jealousy, she's a bitch. If she shows kindness, she's boring. If she fights, she's overpowered. If she doesn't, she's useless. If any other character cries, it's heartbreaking. If she cries, she's whiny.
If she goes back to her own world, she's selfish. If she leaves that world behind to live the life she wants for herself, she's a stupid girl who left her family for a boy. If she does something grand, that's only because she's someone else's reincarnation. If she messes something up, the fault is hers and hers alone. She is, somehow, simultaneously a Mary Sue and a toxic abuser.
I've personally seen people slut shaming her because she got hitted on by Koga. I've personally seen people call her a "pick me" girl. Kagome. A pick me girl. Kagome.
Tumblr media
And none of this is fair, because she is the kind of character who does her best to see the good in others, to understand the reasons why they act the way they do and to offer them some grace, but she gets very little of that in return, be it in canon, be it in fandom.
They always hold her up to such an impossible standard, but they completely forget to ask themselves: would the characters I stan be able to match the expectations I set for Kagome? Scratch that: would the characters I stan even be able to deal with things the way Kagome managed to do? Would I? The answer is most likely no, so how about cutting her a slack?
You ask me how did she earn this reputation among her rather dumb haters, my answer is: she didn't. They're just incapable of understanding that if a particular nuanced, well written, female character is not their cup of tea, they can simply ignore her and focus their attention on the characters they do like instead of spreading their baseless, misogynistic takes on the internet.

SOUKOKU (kagome & inuyasha) the idiotic geniuses
BSD Inuyasha AU post
Dazai as kagome who's the heir to the port mafia (his grandpa, the old boss, is currently reigning) his next mission entails overseeing a drug base disguised as a shrine led by hirotsu (grandpa higurashi) who gives him a tour. As he wanders the area near the well, his book (the complete manual to suicide) starts to transform into The Book, the words disappearing and cover changing and as that magical transformation finishes, he's dragged into the well by a huge centipede. He escapes (he's got a gun and he knows how to use it) and was then brought by the kids (the orphans (yes, they're alive here) to oda (kaede) who then explains things to dazai.
Chuuya as inuyasha who was freed by a bandaged guy who wields a... (what even is that??) and keeps muttering about how that dumb centipede always regenerates every shot he makes! (chuuya can sense spiritual powers from this guy though?? Why not use it??) he helps defeat the demon anyway because this is not the best way to wake up and he's still so very confused. Oda explains the situation (and huh, he's so old now, how much time has passed? he used to take care of him and the sheep and the village as a whole) but another demon shows up and takes a book.... Wait... that's THE BOOK he carries dazai and they try to shoot the bird down.
Dazai misses and hits the spine of the book, scattering the pages (on purpose) because he thinks he'll finally find them meaning of this meaningless existence called life if he has this chibi puppy by his side (he's got a crush, sue him)
Chuuya's choker as the beads of subjugation which was handed to him by shirase (kikyo) because shirase wasn't really powerful and if chuuya ends up betraying him, he has to have something to use against him. For some reason though, shirase didn't end up being the word-sayer despite him being the one to put it on chuuya (here, it's because he simply does not have the spiritual power to pull off the commands). When Dazai saw Chuuya wearing the choker, he made fun of it and jokingly said "sit". It ended up working and dazai always makes sure that chuuya never lives it down.
Gun and bullets as bow and arrows, dazai is already a master at it, so why switch into an old fashioned weapon (chuuya: master? Why'd you miss the book then??) oda tried to teach him how to use bows though so he decided to try it out and brings it to their travels because he likes making odasaku proud (in exchange, dazai teaches him how to use a gun, and dazai can see that it's growing on odasaku)
Dazai brings things from the modern era as well, so far chuuya's favorites are: portable music and wine.
Kagome's bike has no equivalent. Because is there a better alternative to being carried by chuuya? NONE.
(dazai, muttering: shame it's not bridal carry though)

It just hit me like a truck that Inuyasha was still wearing his subjugation beads when Kagome returned after 3 years ;___;)
Kaede probably offered at least once to take them off for him… since Kagome wasn’t around anymore… but maybe he refused bc it’s his last reminder of the love of his life!!!! .·°՞(≧□≦)՞°·.

Miroku: I think we’re being drugged with some kind of truth serum. Quick, ask me something personal I would never tell you.
Inuyasha: Alright. Does Sango ever peg you?
Miroku: Sometimes. WAIT—
Inuyasha: Ah ha! I knew it!
Miroku: What about you? Those “beads of subjugation” come in use in you and Kagome’s bedroom, don’t they?
Inuyasha: Duh. I’m obsessed with the woman and it’s fucking hot. OH NO GODDAMIT!
Miroku: There, we’re even.

How many times does Kagome ‘Sit’ Inuyasha?
Since I always complain about the anime making a lot of things worse, including Kagome’s use of the sit command, I decided to back up what I’m saying with some actual data.
So I present to you: The ultimate Osuwari/Sit count.
Let’s start with the manga, the real canon. I went over all the chapters, including the bonus chapter 559 / Since Then, and here are the results:
Tumblr media
Total ‘Sit’ count in the manga: 56
Highest number of sits in a row: 8  → Reason: Inuyasha was trying to destroy the well using a boulder (chapter 23) Other times she used the beads repetitively:  4 times in chapter 249 →  After he tried to pick up a fight with her when she was in a bad mood because they met Kikyo. 4 times in chapter 339 →  After he got angry at her for being ‘too friendly’ with Koga and she called him out for also being too friendly with Kikyo. 2 times in chapter 327  →  After he went to see Kikyo alone and she thought he was lying to her when he said Kikyo wasn’t there.
I added this because people usually say Kagome sits him “every time he annoys her a little” and I don’t think that’s true. Because of this I also gathered a (subjective) list of reasons why Kagome used the command and counted the number of sits associated.
Tumblr media
Main reasons: he was being violent, or he was being rude/insensitive towards her or others.
Now, let’s take a look a the anime 🙂 I didn’t rewatch the anime to make this, I watched The Ultimate Inuyasha Sit Compilation video and double checked some episodes myself. Shoutout to zeragon21 on Youtube for making this compilation, it saved me a lot of time! This includes all animated content of the Inuyasha series, so the original anime (episode 1-167) & The Final Act (episode 168-193) and then the 4 movies and the spinoff Hanyo no Yashahime.
Tumblr media
Total ‘Sit’ count in the anime: 154
Highest number of sits in a row: 22 → Reason: Trying to stop a drunk Sango from kissing Inuyasha
Other times she used the beads repetitively: 16 times in episode 109  →  Same as chapter 249 where she used it 4 times but the anime made it worse 11 times in episode 96 →  Because Inuyasha told Jinenji that Kagome has a “small heart” 10 times in Movie 1 →  Because Inuyasha didn’t compliment her cooking and wanted to eat ramen instead 8 times in episode 11 →  Same as chapter 23  6 times in episode 98 →  Because Inuyasha didn’t compliment her cooking, again 5 times in episode 158 →  Same as chapter 327 where she used it 2 times but the anime made it worse
Conclusion: The Inuyasha animated content added almost 100 non-canon ‘Sit’ commands!
This is honestly, so, so much worse than I expected, lol. I also wanted to note some other differences that would explain why anime viewers find the sit command a bigger problem than manga readers. The first one being the force / intensity of it. In the anime the command will often be strong enough to create a crater, while in the manga there’s usually a “moosh” sound effect and if she uses it repetitively Inuyasha will just stay stuck in a crouched position.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another thing I’ve noticed while watching the compilation is that in the anime (especially the dub) Inuyasha often complains about it. He’ll scream/grunt when she sits him, call her heartless, ask her why she’s sitting him. This doesn’t really happen in the manga. He will usually say “Kagome temee!” (Damn you Kagome!) or say “Stop that!” if she’s using it repeatedly (which only happened twice).
There’s also some added scenes in the anime that portrayed Kagome in a negative light in regards to the sit command. The first one being in the third movie “Swords of an Honorable Ruler”, where Inuyasha asked Kagome to remove the beads and she ignored him, and later she “tricked” him into putting them back on despite his complaints. The other is from the filler episodes 147-148 “The Tragic Love Song of Destiny” where Kikyo created the subjugation beads using the word “beloved” as the trigger word, but decided not to put them on him because she saw he was nice. Sunrise clearly added this to imply that Kagome should have taken the beads off Inuyasha after she realized they weren’t truly necessary (since he doesn’t want to kill her or innocents) and used this to add fuel to the love triangle discourse. In the manga the beads are never really talked about, they’re just a slapstick gag that isn’t meant to be taken too seriously, just like Sango slapping Miroku or Inuyasha punching kids.
Conclusion: the reasons why the Sit command is worse in the anime than in the manga, is that there is almost 100 added Sits, the force of the command is way worse, Inuyasha complains about it a lot more, and Sunrise tried to make it seem like a bigger deal than it really is by adding certain scenes.

Am I the only one here who likes InuKik better than InuKag?
DISCLAIMER: This little analysis took me quite some time to type out, so I'd appreciate it if you didn't downvote it right away and at least read it until the end.
I haven't finished the anime yet (currently at episode 129) but from what I've seen so far, I can safely say that I'm not too fond of InuKag as a ship. It just kind of seems like one of those bland "boy meets girl and they fall in love" ships. Sure, they have some cute moments here and there, but what really turns me away from the ship is stuff like Kagome constantly - and I mean CONSTANTLY - abusing the power of the beads of subjugation whenever she's in a bad mood and everyone in the group siding with her without even considering Inuyasha's feelings in the matter. He just needs to say or do something that might irritate Kagome even in the slightest, and the next thing we see is him face-planting at least once after an unsolicited sit command from Kagome.
For example, in one episode where he was in the modern world, Kagome's mother sent him on an errand to bring lunch to her daughter. What's the first thing Kagome does when he reaches her and is about to give her the lunchbox? That's right, she tells him to sit. This is but one of many examples that I noticed in the anime.
Here's another one: Kagome brings food from her era to Feudal Japan and cooks for the whole group. Nobody complains about her cooking, however, Inuyasha seems to prefer the instant ramen over the food that Kagome made. What does Kagome do? She gets angry and tells him to sit.
Last one: Inuyasha goes to see Kikyo. She's his first love, the first woman who ever accepted him for who he was after a lifetime of being ostracised from two fronts for being a half demon, a being that isn't wanted in neither human nor demon communities. Kagome gets angry over him wanting to see Kikyo and tells him to sit. While I understand the sentiment of her being angry and jealous, by no means does this warrant physically harming Inuyasha by making him face-plant into the ground.
Kikyo, on the other hand, seems to really, truly care about him. Sure, she did go overboard when she attempted to drag him down into hell with her because she wanted to die with him, and she held a knife against his throat at some point when she talked about the weakness that is Naraku's human heart, but she never intentionally harmed him, right? She was incited to kill Inuyasha by Naraku and sealed him against a tree by piercing his heart with a holy arrow, but she did that because she was under the impression that Inuyasha fatally wounded her - when it really was Naraku who disguised himself as Inuyasha to trick Kikyo into hating her lover. Before the tragedy, they seemed like a happy couple that was just about to achieve perfect harmony by becoming normal people. Inuyasha was very close to using the sacred jewel to become a human - a normal person. The consequence of this would've been that the jewel would've gotten purified, which would've released Kikyo from thr burdens of being a priestess, she could've become an ordinary woman, too.
Whenever Kagome punishes Inuyasha through the beads of subjugation for whatever reason, everyone in the group, literally EVERYONE sides with her. "Poor Kagome, how could that dummy Inuyasha hurt your feelings like this by going after Kikyo?", I dunno, have you considered the fact that this is his first love we're talking about here? He still loves and yearns for Kikyo. He can't let her go, because his feelings for Kikyo are still strong. Of course, it's normal for Kagome to get jealous. It's a human trait. But that doesn't mean it's okay for her to just yeet him into the ground like a toy figure every time he does something that's not to her liking? If we'd turn the tables, if Inuyasha would dare to hit Kagome even ONCE out of a bad mood, I'm sure there would be an uproar about this in the Fandom.
Kagome just seems like this moody, entitled schoolgirl, while Kikyo gives off more calm and mature vibes. This is also the reason I like Kikyo more than Kagome. She puts more thought into her actions.

Kargo mosaic
This ancient mosaic, made of flat colorful stones, adorns the main entrance to Canigar. It depicts the majesty of the first karh, the maned wolf Kargo. Each element is symbolic.
Tumblr media
🏛 Kargo sits at the top of a stone staircase - a symbol of his unchallenged authority.
🏛 The stairs show the hierarchy of his pack - first, the leaders of the frostwolves, then the frostwolves themselves, and at the very bottom, the subordinate dog packs.
🏛 Between the dogs, Canigar itself is depicted - "A pawmade rock with a fiery gut".
🏛 Above Canigar is a red "nest" - a symbol of battle luck.
🏛 Kargo is trampling a bear skin with his paws. It is believed to be the pelt of the Wolfsbane himself.
🏛 Karh's neck is adorned by an elaborate necklace symbolizing the five countries that were the first to emerge from the common lands. Their presence on the mosaic is meant to demonstrate Karhgo's influence over all surrounding territories.
The light blue plate is the Forefrost.
The light green plate is Herbaway.
Dark green plate - Woodlands.
Dark blue plate - Bluedawning.
Yellow plate - Meadowglade.
🏛 The colored beads hanging from the necklace symbolize the rulers of the countries listed. Initially they showed Kargo's desire to subjugate them all, but with the coming of more peaceful times, they began to be interpreted as means of restraining Kargo and opposing him (restraining him as a collar, or preventing him from forgetting his interests by their constant presence).
🏛 The topaz crown is also a symbol of power. Here it resembles a star, which hints at his desire to resemble the powerful gods.
🏛 Two bowing horses with burning manes and fiery eyes refer us to the bloody event when all horses were exterminated in the Unbounded Field at Kargo’s will. Their meat was used to feed the builders of Psogar, and their presence on the mosaic is both an act of gratitude to the horses whose lives had to be taken, and a symbol that even such mighty beasts were subdued by Kargo.
🏛 The black flames signify the Great Biting itself, war and the death of those who oppose the Kargo. The fire originates from Kargo's heart, and is spread by his paws.

TYBW Anime Ep. 3 vs the manga - SPOILERS
Tumblr media
Bleach Twitter has been talking a lot about the pacing of the anime as opposed to the manga and the things that are being skipped.
Even though no one has asked for it, I want to lay out my own opinions on the matter in a forum that isn't limited to however many characters.
If you haven't read the manga, you might want to ignore this post. I intend to talk about spoilers for the end.
So one of the things that happens in both the anime and the manga in this section/episode is that Kubo-sensei lays out his THEME for this entire arc.
Tumblr media
As the very groovy Aizen look-alike explains, the answer to the question "Are we on the side of justice?" is very clearly: "No." This will likely end in subjugation--one side will dominate the other, by brute force, not because it's just or right
Later on the same page/in the same scene, prayer bead wearing Aizen look-alike explains that wars only happen because both sides are right (and by implication also both wrong.)
Thus, what bothers me about the missing scenes, namely the lieutenant's meeting, is that one of the things that's revealed there is that Shinigami killed civilians to maintain the "Balance."
In the anime, Mayuri explains it to Yamamoto, but we don't see the evidence laid out in the same way--and that takes some power away. This is kind of a moment that could be read with a certain amount of horror because these civilians were not only unarmed, but also BAREFOOT. These were the poorest of the poor and an armed garrison of trained Shinigami literally rounded them up and slaughtered them on the orders of a 12th Division captain who has the authority to do so without the express permission of the Captain-Commander.
This is a moment.
A big one.
It's a moment where we see the cracks in the foundation of the Soul Society as "good guys." (Arguments can be made that they showed these cracks earlier, but this is the first time Kubo-sensei is being this blatant with his dystopia. He sets out the lieutenant's meeting and then literally allows a character to say, "hey, if we did genocide before, are we the good guys??" and have the answer be explicitly, "mmm, no, not really, but neither are the Quincy.")
So, I was excited when we seem to start to get more Ishida (younger and elder) on screen in the anime. I was very hopeful that we might see some of the Quincy side of the story, which was very much missing from the manga. Like, as the manga readers know, Ishida (younger) appears to join this side and one presumes there is a compelling reason for that, though we only know vagaries about what happened 200 years ago when the Quincy failed to meet the Shinigami demands and the Shinigami wiped them out almost to a man.
This is not being hit very hard in the anime.
More time was spent in the anime watching Juha Bach/Yhwach being a creep to his underlings which just makes the Quincy seem as insane as their master/king. Likewise, we got almost every blow by blow of Ichigo's fight with Nazi-haircut Quincy, which again, only serves to make the Quincy seem insane rather than justified in their anguish... which really they should be. (See Mayuri and Ishida fight in the rescue arc, where Mayuri explicitly states that he's not interested in this so-called last Quincy because he's already had his fill of torturing them and extracting information about them due to this last war.)
I'm glad they gave Ishida more screen time, but most of it was useless. Like, honestly, a flashback to the Mayuri fight would have been more powerful, IMHO, and requires no extra writing/drawing. Ishida's hunting for information about the Quincy's past and then us, the viewers, only getting the voice over of the exact same information that groovy Aizen-look-alike gives didn't feel worth the animation hours. Perhaps, you're thinking, but, Junko, they can't just make stuff up! Yeah, they can. Kubo-sensei is consulting, That means they're paying to put his name on the screen, as having approved of this whole thing. They could have asked him to write three sentences for Ishida to have read that fit whatever his vision is for the Quincy side of the story.
And again, I wouldn't harp on this, but this is literally the episode that SETS UP THE ENDING. Like it or not, Kubo-sensei told us he was going to end on a downbeat, with the Quincy subjugated and destroyed and no sense of justice. It's right here. IN THIS EPISODE. We should see the horror on the faces of the Shinigami who are suddenly made aware that they are complicit in not only genocide of the their hated enemy the Quincies, but also of the people they ostensibly protect in the Rukongai.
THAT would underscore the idea that there is no justice in war. Both sides has war crimes to answer for. We've seen Juha being crazy, we need to see the dark underbelly of the Soul Society.
And let me be clear. Kubo did not do this perfectly in the manga. Anyone who knows me knows that I had a LOT of problems with how this arc played out in the end. I had been hoping, however, that the anime could have been an opportunity to condense some of the endless fight scenes and give this story the backbone that Kubo laid down, but never built up.
Alas.
Also, am sad we never got grumpy (or thinking face??) Renji at Sasakibe's funeral.
Tumblr media
Also, they skipped on the usual Kubo signature post-death scene where we learn about Sasakibe, his fierce loyalty to Yamamoto, and how he used bankai for the first time in battle only to die.
So, if you love Bleach for these kinds of character moments, the anime seems to be skipping them in favor of the protracted battle scenes, which... I mean, I love fighting anime? I would be lying if I said I wouldn't be happy with an entire 52 episode run of Ichigo just yelling "bankai" and "Getsuga Tensho" over and over!! So, I mean, I don't HATE the anime by any stretch. I'm just a fan fic writer who loves Kubo-sensei for his liminal spaces, his in-between moments.
And so far the anime is light on those.
I'm still deeply pleased to see it happening at all, however.

Hello, I love The Half Breeds Wife by Gypsyn and For Better or Worse by Anime Wildfire. Do you have any recommendations for stories where Inuyasha and Kagome get married early on and navigate feudal Japan together? Thank you!
Hello, anon! We’ll admit that this was a bit of a challenge, but we did our best to find fics that take place in feudal Japan, where InuKag get married early in the story and go on adventures as husband and wife. We took a few liberties here and there in order to provide you with more options, so some of the stories on this list may not check every box (such as the feudal Japan setting or the timing of the marriage), but we really hope that you find something you enjoy!
Tumblr media
To start, we’ve included links to the two stories referenced, for anyone who may not have read them. The rest of the list consists of similar stories compiled by our fic-finders.

The Shikon Princess by Stormcloud17 (E)
Marriage is sacred. It is meant to be between two people who held love for one another. Meant to start a happy and joyous life together.
That is, unless you're royalty. Then, you don't have much choice in the matter.
Kagome had just reached her 15th birthday when the Shikon Jewel was sent to her, an act of proposal on behalf of the Inu-Yokai clan, asking her hand in marriage to their Hanyo prince, Son of the late, great Lord Toga, as an act to secure his half of the western lands, Musashi.
Now, 3 years later, Kagome is finally to be delivered to her husband, a far less than willing participant in his father's affairs that lead to a mortal woman being laid on the doorstep of his palace wrapped in silks like a present.
~Once the red strings of fate become tangled, it cannot be unraveled~

The Shogun’s Daughter by @shnuggletea (E)

Who’s the Outcast? by Wordsorcereress (T)
He was a hanyou, she was a human, he was called 'halfbreed' because of his blood, she was called a witch because of her demon accepting ways, he was sealed because of what he was, she is isolated because of what she does... Who's the REAL outcast here?
--
The 500 Year Bride by JijiAndGecko (G)
AU where Izayoi lives and sets up an arranged marriage for Kagome and Inuyasha almost immediately after she meets Kagome. They decide to fake it til they get the jewel shards, but then things get complicated. Over 200 pages of shenanigans! I wrote this story for myself so Kagome is demi now but otherwise I tried to keep everyone as in character as possible.
--
A Bloom in the Night by @petri808 (G)
Empress Higurashi is placed in a dire situation after her husband the Emperor was killed under troubling circumstances. A neighboring Kingdom is pressuring her to give them her daughter, Princess Kagome. Desperate, she contacts the Yokai ruler who oversees their territory for help, the Inu no Taisho. His son, Inuyasha becomes part of the answer... or really was Kagome herself all the strength they needed?
--
By the Match, Not the Flame by @goshinote (M)
Inuyasha is a hellbent hanyo on a mission for revenge. Kagome is a wanted miko on the run. Their intentions align in more ways than one, but secrets abound between them as they partner up during their travels. With an inevitable and impending betrayal looming over them, the pressure rises with every day they spend moving closer to the enemy’s clutches.

More headcanons on Mongol Empire-Post Mongol Empire era:
I LOVE depicting Mongolia as a father and grandpa of many offpsring, and he did have many. So there were Golden Horde/Jochid Ulus (which was actually a combined force of Blue Horde and White Horde given to Jochi’s sons Batu and Orda, because Jochi died before Golden Horde was consolidated), Chagatai Khanate (of Chagatayids), Ilkhanate (of Hulagu), and Yuan (of Kublai). Now, rather than going with ‘Mongolia = Yuan’ like I used to, I decided to give Yuan its own personification. Why tho? For one, while Yuan’s territory did comprise of Mongolia proper and Kublai as its founder presented his state as core Mongol Empire (or, simply Mongol Empire) with his grandfather Chinggis Khan as its founder, sketchy things surrounded Kublai’s ascension as a Khagan; he was enthroned during a quriltai that was held not in Karakorum but in his own city Kaiping (in China), and it was without the votes of all four Chinggisid branches who at the time supported Kublai’s youngest brother Ariq Boke as a Khagan. All of this made his ascension illegal. What’s more, Kublai who was pretty much an usurper proclaimed himself as a ruler in a distinctly Chinese style and Yuan dynasty was established with all the legitimacy of a Chinese dynasty. Yuan therefore looked more like a breakaway/successor state just like the other Khanates than simply a continuation of the Mongol Empire that Chinggis Khan built. It stands to reason for me that I should make a distinction between Yuan and Mongolia then, since Mongolia the dude in my head represents the core of Mongols so he should be purely Mongolian with pure Mongol/nomadic characteristics. For legitimacy with the Mongolian side, Yuan would latch onto Mongolia and they would rule both China and Mongolia together. The link below is an interesting read of which I based my theory off on the separation between personifications of Mongolia and Yuan dynasty:
Besides, I just want funny family moments between Mongolia and his kids and grandkids, and the more the merrier!!
Golden Horde is a Hater and he’s so valid for it. He hates people and nothing he likes more than going to his mancave (of wide steppe) and ignoring all other kinds of existence including his own siblings by Mongolia, though he of course is loyal to his princes and princesses and would do everything for them. His rivalry with Chagatai (Khanate) reflects Jochi’s with Chagatai. Also despises Ilkhanate bc they have feuds over territories and trades. Only slightly more okay with Yuan bc Yuan is really far away and cannot bother him much though he still doesn’t want to acknowledge him because why should he. Perpetual virgin until he met chaotic deranged dumbass Timurid. Anyway, he’s a child between Mongolia and Polovtsy/Qipchak. The Polovtsy were Turkic nomads whom the Jochids subjugated and entered into their ranks (or got scattered all over the area as they fled the Mongols). They had a confederate before the Mongols came.
Mongolia: “Horde, now be good and have dinner together with me and your brothers!”
Horde: “Fuck you all now let me go back to my mancave.”
Mongolia: *spanks Horde*
Maybe I should give Blue Horde and White Horde personifications too and they are the ones who do the actual ruling while the most Golden Horde does is frolicking around, bullying little hare Russia, or being fussed over by his princesses. Anyway, they love to braid his long hair like a maiden and put beads and rings on it.
Russia sometimes mistakes Horde as a Mongol Princess because of it and Horde is so NOT amused. Cue Horde chasing Russia around.
Russia and Horde coincidentally bond over not liking studying and reading, and as kids they were illiterate. Their princes/advisors were this 👌 close to giving up teaching them to read. Horde says he’s an all powerful warrior of the steppe and he already has everything he wants and needs so why should he even study?? Meh.
At some point Horde also tried to shoot Russia’s cat because he was curious if it tasted good and that was the first time Russia smacked him. Horde was secretly impressed because apparently little hare could pack up a good punch.
Chagatai is rivals with Horde and he’s salty because his desire to make daddy Mongolia happy by besting that fucker-with-his illegitimate-Khans Horde results in Mongolia disinheriting their respective khans from the throne of Khagan altogether through Chinggis Khan. Eventually, Chagatai becomes estranged much like Horde did. His personality is serious and ruthless to a fault. Chagatai is a child of Mongolia and Qara-Khitai, who was a Khitan-ruled state in Central Asia. Khitans were a nomadic group related to Mongols as they were all similarly descended from Xianbei. Qara-Khitai however wasn’t purely Khitan because most of its subjects were Central Asian Turco-Persian Muslims under Karakhanids who then became vassal to the Khitans. Therefore by characteristics Chagatai was very much Central Asian and not Khitan… maybe Karakhanid was his actual second dad? Only Mongolia knows.
Ilkhanate is the child of Mongolia and Khwarazmian Empire (another Turco-Persian state, also both Karakhanid and Khwarezmia were descendants of Gokturks). His relationship to Mongolia is second to best, but even in time he’s more concerned with his own gains than being a filial son to Mongolia. He’s an excitable dude who’s also a wildman.
Yuan (Monchu love(hate)child) is possibly Mongolia’s favorite kid because he’s best behaved to him (including paying homage to him unlike his other hopeless brats). Has an ultra high self esteem because he’s most favored by Mongolia and because he lords over the mighty China. Lots wholesome moments between daddy Mongolia and Yuan with China totally NOT having a good time.
Yuan: “I am Great Yuan, bow down to me and my Father!!”
Horde, Chagatai, Ilkhanate: *leave*
Yuan: “No, come back here!!!!”
Except for China, Mongolia obliterated his kids’ second dads they are no more 💔 maybe he tried to do that to China too (like with Song whom Kublai subjugated) but too bad for him, China is eternal.
Yes, basically the other dads of Mongolia’s brats were the countries he subjugated and took over. He killed their personifications and gave the territories to his own.
I decided to not make Timurid a direct descendant of Mongolia, however he kinda larps as Mongol Empire following Tamerlane’s massive ambition (lol good luck). He also got important territory off Chagatai and he did it by cannibalizing parts of him (!!!). Timurid is a simpleton brute with singleminded focus who’s also a poet of many vulgar poems depicting his lover Horde. Also, I guess by the time Moghulistan happened there would be another personification in place (which means Chagatai would be dead by then) but idk yet.
Initially Horde and Timurid had it SO good but Horde had to betray him following the orders of his prince Tokhtamysh, and it made Timurid so livid he got batshit insane as if possessed. He chased after Horde and burnt his important cities when he couldn’t find him, further weakening Horde when he was already weakened from civil war and conflicts. They met one last time shortly before Horde’s death, though Horde’s death wasnt actually by Timurid’s hands.
Mongolia finds it quite tragic that he lives on while his kids and many descendants couldn’t, but such is fate. He wouldn’t actually want to switch places with them tho (for nationverses, only one’s own survival really matters), but it would be nice to have his large family around him. He would love having his dining table brimming full with his offspring and relatives during Tsagaan Sar. Mongolia misses them sometimes even though their relationship wasn’t always so good.
Mongolia himself isn’t always a good father, and while he’s pretty attentive to his kids (the ones he had in the past or the ones he has had pretty recently) he’s an emotionally independent person and likes to encourage his brats to be independent sooner. Therefore, sometimes he can be quite neglectful, and it is even more the case these days though part of it is because he himself cannot support them much in many ways. Not saying he’s a 100% chill parent though, because like any kind of patriarch he expects and could demand proper filial piety from his brats, but these days perhaps following the pattern of chill urbanized fathers who are more of good friends to their kids than just reigning patriarchs, Mongolia is much more chill (in an egalitarian sense) with his remaining kids and relatives. Spanking your kids is bad, so he no longer does it.

Inuyasha Role Reversal but with a fun twist:
Naraku was the one pinned to the tree. He still gets bound by the Beads of Subjugation. The jewel still gets broken apart into pieces.
Inuyasha has grown jaded and bitter in the years following Kikyō’s death, but hears the Naraku has been freed from the tree and wants proper revenge. (Naraku could not be harmed, ironically enough, while sealed by Kikyō’s arrow.) Sesshomaru is still gunning for the Tessaiga. Miroku is still scamming the hell out of people, but is curseless. Sango is living her best life. Shippo still becomes an orphan.
Meanwhile, Kagome is kickstarting Naraku’s domestication arc while fending off this dog boy who wants Naraku dead.
