trying to keep myself from buying the new sims expansion pack which gets the most unbelievably bad reviews on every platform and is generally regarded as an overpriced load of bullshit that adds absolutely nothing of value to the game and has a very good chance of rendering your game completely unplayable bc of how badly it's produced. but on the other hand i want to build apartments...

it sucks to have to be scared to update the game, no matter the size of the update, because you have no idea if it's going to break your game or not (not to mention going through the process of updating your mods)
#sims rant incoming!#i think a lot of sims fans (regardless of the game(s) they're a fan of) are just tired#tired of updates breaking their sims / their saves / their cc#tired of ea releasing broken buggy messes and having the audacity to make us PAY just for something to not work#tired of simulation lag making the game unbearable (especially for lower end devices)#tired of bugs that cause sims to get stuck on top of furniture / eyebrows/hair colors to change randomly / sim faces getting warped#idk it just sucks so bad to be a sims fan bc the only thing holding this community (and the games themselves) together are the mods#without mods and cc the sims (especially 4) would be unplayable because of how boring it would be#having to have mods to fully disable pack/base game features because they're not even slightly tuned (think fears/dust/etc)#or alternatively having to have mods to add in certain features or make certain features work properly (or better)#tired of bugs NEVER getting fixed and being fully ignored for months or even YEARS#and they don't even tell us they know about it so they can get away with ignoring it for as long as possible#not to mention the fact that TO THIS DAY if you want lgbtq+ rep in your game you have to PAY for it bc none of the lgbtq+ sims are base gam#(unless they changed sexualities of base game townies and idk abt it)#idk overall the sims (specifically 4) feels like a dumpster fire#i personally have no interest in a sims 5 because whats the point#why are so many simmers willing to scoot all the shit thats happened with the sims 4 under the rug under the guise of the sims 5 being good#do we really think the sims 5 will be any better when half the decent features are locked behind packs#certain features people paid for in packs are now base game so what was even the point in paying (like hot tubs)#idk everything about the sims 4 and the way it's continuously handled is so poor that i have no hope for any good quality content#maybe we'll get a decent kit or stuff pack here and there#but if we can't even purchase them without an item FULLY WARPING your sims face (ON RELEASE MIND YOU) what is the goddamn point

Oscar and Y/n sat next to each other on the soft sofa of the studio. They giggled with the podcast host as she said their introduction.
“Breaking the internet right now with their sex life, Oscar Piastri and Y/n Y/l/n! Hi, guys, welcome.” Samantha, the host, spoke to them.
Y/n and Oscar mumbled pleasantries, their legs squished together even with all the space to Y/n’s left. The woman was quick to getting into the topic of conversation, having already discussed boundaries with the couple before the cameras started rolling.
“So, Y/n, you’ve just released a small album that focuses mostly on Oscar and the things you two get up to in the bedroom. Were you ever nervous to share these songs with the world?”
Y/n nodded, “At first, yeah, all the way back when we started with 34+35, but it got easier once I saw the overwhelming support for it. I think the best part about releasing them is seeing the jokes that the fans make about Oscar and that side of him.”
Samantha smiled, “That leads me to my next question, Oscar, were you ever nervous to have people know about that side of you? Seeing as it was such a shocker.”
He laughed as he adjusted his position, throwing an arm around his girlfriend, “Um, well, I didn’t think it was that shocking. We didn’t expect people to go haywire over hearing that I lean more towards the dominant side. We kind of assumed people inferred that.”
Samantha’s jaw dropped, “Really?! Oh! I’ll be honest, I was quite surprised when I heard it.”
Y/n shook her head, “I don’t know, I guess the way Oscar is in front of cameras is drastically different from how he actually is. He’s still very soft spoken and quiet, but a bit more outgoing.”
Samantha nodded as she glanced over her next question, “Oscar, what’s your favorite song off this album?”
“Oh, I am so ready for this. Agora Hills.” He answered immediately, smiling proudly at the others in the room.
Y/n turned to look at him, “Really?! Why?!”
His head leaned from side to side, “Just, it’s more romantic? I mean, you talk about tying the knot alongside the sex stuff.”
Y/n and Samantha laugh at his comment, Samantha agreeing, “No, I see what you’re saying. Y/n, you do say you want to show him off multiple times throughout the song.”
“Because I do!” She exclaimed, leaning into her boyfriend lovingly.
He kissed her temple, listening intently to Samantha.
“Your interactions with the fans are hilarious. Do you guys look forward to fucking with them?”
“Hell yeah!” Oscar exclaimed, “Once I caught wind of the fact that they didn’t think I did shit in the bedroom, I became very obnoxious when rubbing what happens between Y/n and I in their faces.”
Y/n cooed jokingly, “Aw, Osc, was your masculinity damaged?”
He rolled his eyes at her, laughing at her dig and pushing her away softly. They came back together, though.
“Before we move on from this subject, I want to ask Y/n, was the over six inches comment really true?” Samantha eyed her as Y/n glanced beside her at Oscar, silently asking him if she could do what he knew she wanted to do.
He nodded at her, shaking his head lightly as she said, “A lady never kisses and tells.”
Silence passed as she raised her hands and aimed them around nine inches apart. Winking suggestively at the camera, the women in the room gasped.
“IS THAT NINE INCHES?!” Samantha screamed, causing all of them to fall into a fit of giggles.
Y/n brought the microphone to her mouth and whispered, “Oh, yeah, it is.”

Just greedy and unserious, like they’re lucky EA isn’t THAT strict about the paywall thing, which is surprising to me, cus I’d make that shit 3 days, plus nobody’s THAT desperate for some digital content like pls get a job
There are times when I can’t help but wonder how much some of these creators actually pull in, what their actual motivations are, and how much of it is our ( the simming community’s ) doing for enabling this trend to begin with, esp since there are plenty of other modding communities that don’t do things like we do, despite offering DLC sized mods. They also wouldn’t be doing this if there wasn’t some kind of a demand for it, and EA wasn’t complicit in creating that demand by choosing to drip feed official content, rarely listen to what players actually want, and then somehow still fall short of delivering it without glaringly obvious flaws that require more mods and fixes. Though I also like to to think it’s a broader problem as well, with how gaming has changed, with how dlc culture has worsened, and how a whole generation was raised on predatory mobile and mobile-esque games, then there’s income inequality hitting everyone hard, in almost every country, one income just doesn’t do it anymore, so is it any surprise that grind culture and scam behavior has just become normalized? Games were once our escape from a lot of this mess, but I’m sad to say it’s no longer out of its reach.
I won’t excuse all these things, esp scamming, bc when it gets bad, it gets bad, and honestly that sucks, bc it’s gotten to the point where it’s just struggling ppl screwing over other struggling ppl, while ppl like the guy who runs EA probably plans to give himself another multi-million dollar holiday bonus, so he can buy another $4,000 sweater to wear to a meeting where he announces another round of lay offs that hurts the development of yet another The Sims 4 DLC, that someone will use to release another set of minimally edited Maxis cc behind a 3 week paywall.

can we talk about how fucked over plant sims, mermaids and aliens are in the sims 4?
weak ass occult states that have SO much potential to be amazing. i literally never make these occults bc their functionality is difficult or useless. you shouldn't be forced to make a disguise for your aliens. you should be able to make plant sims in cas and give them any hairstyle. all 3 of them have barely any unique gameplay attached.
if they just gave us an alien/plant sim pack that solely focused on them id literally never complain about ea again i'd suck their entire ass honestly. PLEASE. GOD.

God this will make me sound like such a douche but honestly DA4 could be canceled at this point and I would CARE but not... like a lot, you know? The mismanagement at the company has officially crossed over from "okay it's a 10yr project when it wasn't supposed to be, staff will change" to "y'all what is happening over there" to "what do you mean you laid off MARY KIRBY you fucking nutjobs????" It's EA/Bioware, they'll release something because they want/need the money, but like... who gives a fuck? Like, I want to play it eventually (ideally bought discounted or used tbh) because I do want to see Kirby&Co's last work on Dragon Age. I think it would suck if those devs missed out on creative praise bc their bosses were garbage. And I want the game to come out so the NDA isn't such am obstacle for the laid off employees.
But if I'm being totally honest here, BG3 killed my anticipation for DA4 because it just... feels enough like a DA game (for good reason, given BW and BG's relationship over the decades) that I'm good. The drought feels over for me. And I wonder how many people feel the same and how much less grace EA/BW is being afforded about this Dreadwolf stuff because of BG3, if that makes sense.

well, seeing as I'm still playing these games and I'm still largely enjoying them, yeah I'm pretty connected to them. although if TS5 really is live service or whatever then I'm really not going to play it lol.
I think of some sims I've had, some of their stories and their lives, and yeah I get a lil bit emo. the same goes for my friends' sims! I miss them too. as for depth...I mean I dunno it's probably not all that deep for me. I think the sims is just a toy. I don't necessarily want too much of real life to seep into it bc real life sucks ass.

Maybe because it’s EA and not permanent paywalled? Idk as a trans person it still is shady to me and sucks. If I had skills I’d make my own shit. And they asterisked Trans for some reason too. Wtf.
Ok, I didn't know about this but I just checked and it even uses @pigeonplays's mesh. I really don't support using other people's meshes for content under any sort of paywall in the first place, and putting trans specific cc (which there is so little of in the first place, especially with that mesh) under one too is just gross to me personally. It just was posted a few hours ago so that could be why no one's talking about it but, anyway, if anyone wants it you can download it for free here. Thanks for telling me about this, nonny.
