I wanted to mention that my partner and me are working on opening a Battlemap patreon opened. It'd include a mix of animated battlemaps made by yours truly (specially for boss fights), and assets and maps with a focus on more modern settings, since there isn't much for that currently.
I'm quite excited to show some stuff- My partner has been absolutely slaying it with the assets!
Here's a couple of examples of my animated battlemap/token work~ Let me know if this is something you'd be interested in!
Appropriately enough for the recent HMS Terror posts that I've reblogged, I've spent the past few weeks slowly completing this map of the ill-fated ship. HMS Terror is underway through a sea of ice and slush, exploring the distant periphery of the known world. What dangers may her crew encounter?
Grid variants of the top two layers (overhead view and upper deck) are available for free on my Patreon in Roll20's preferred 70 DPI resolution. Subscribers have access to the full map (four decks + overhead view) in day/night + grid/gridless variants in PNG and VTT formats.
Nestled against the top of a cliff is a towering building of odd angles.
Giant paned windows gleam in the sun, gazing over the land below with its compound sight. No matter how lush and alive the scenery is around you, the palace waits, a silent hunter knowing the prey will come to it.
Did you know this map was built by my patrons last year during April Anniversary Month? This year we're doing it again! Polls are going on right now, so you can help build the map too.
This map set can be found on Roll20, my Patreon Store, and more like it through the Interactive Map Directory at demartinidesigns.com/map-directory/

Have overcome my posting anxiety and made my first post on tumblr, been really enjoying making these recently
In this week's episode of Campaign Spotlight, we chat with Jake about making the most of players' busy schedules, dealing with important story beats happening offscreen, and Philadelphia energy. (This is our third guest this season from the Delaware Valley and yet somehow this is the first episode where Wawa comes up.) Very light spoilers for Neon Genesis Evangelion.
This conversation got us thinking about ways to get a lightweight game session up and running really quickly. In next week's Flashlight episode, we try the very lightweight Radical Catgirl Anarchy.
Our guest Jake was kind enough to share with us some of the cutscenes he built for his players. Here are some screenshots from those (very charming) cutscenes:
Our guest also mentioned a bunch of useful resources:
Hamill Illustration, Filibuster Frog, and Amanda Rotten for illustrations.
Tale of an Industrious Rogue for inspiration.
The r/battlemaps subreddit for battlemaps.
FoundryVTT for running tabletop games online.

Hey! You need a battlemap for next weeks D&D session, but you don't have the time to make one? You need a map of town to give your players an idea of where they are?
Or do you want to give your DM a map or two for their birthday?
A friend of mine (that makes amazing hand-drawn maps) is looking for some commissions!
You can reach her through her instagram or her website.
Below are some cutouts from maps she's done before!
It is common for Gruul clans to raid an area, destroy it just like the Rakdos, and live there until the resources gleaned from the destructive raid are used up. Once that happens, they move on to a new area, leaving smoldering ruins in their wake.
Just a mini repost;

A D&D map inspired by the forest sinkholes found in China.
This small cavern formed by this sinkhole's collapse has been colonized by trees and vegetation, sustained by a pond at its deepest point. The pond surges and shrinks with seasonal rains and droughts, over time its runoff has carved a tunnel through weak rock that connects into the network of caves, tunnels, and caverns that form the Underdark. Of course, what also serves as an entrance for adventurers into the Underdark also serves as an exit for its denizens. Raiders from underground civilizations may use this sinkhole to access the surface. The cavern is also a holy place to a cult of Eilastree worshipping drow, viewed as a gift from their goddess to the underground exiles.
This map is available on my Patreon in day/night + grid/gridless versions in full size and w/o watermark.
