I wanted to mention that my partner and me are working on opening a Battlemap patreon opened. It'd include a mix of animated battlemaps made by yours truly (specially for boss fights), and assets and maps with a focus on more modern settings, since there isn't much for that currently.
I'm quite excited to show some stuff- My partner has been absolutely slaying it with the assets!
Here's a couple of examples of my animated battlemap/token work~ Let me know if this is something you'd be interested in!

Would anyone be interested in any of my dnd resources? By that I mean like, I have a lot of documents I make because I like to be organized as a DM and player. I have the following things I’d love to share:
Picrews I use that have a variety of skintones and features like horns for tieflings
Discord servers format (channels I add to keep things organized mostly, and so finding info is quick and convenient)
Character backstory organization (has a table of contents, questions, space to add playlists, background character quick reference, and other helpful things to know about characters for dms and for you to build your character)
Fill-in calendar on Google Sheets which can be added to by all players to write the sessions and info they learn, can be used for irl scheduling or, as I use it, to keep track of in-game time
Dice tracker, where you can record the colors/styles of all the dice you own and which characters they go to if any (Google Sheets)
NPC info sheets with spaces for names, classes, jobs, pronouns, etc (Google Sheets)

Nestled against the top of a cliff is a towering building of odd angles.
Giant paned windows gleam in the sun, gazing over the land below with its compound sight. No matter how lush and alive the scenery is around you, the palace waits, a silent hunter knowing the prey will come to it.
Did you know this map was built by my patrons last year during April Anniversary Month? This year we're doing it again! Polls are going on right now, so you can help build the map too.
This map set can be found on Roll20, my Patreon Store, and more like it through the Interactive Map Directory at demartinidesigns.com/map-directory/

Hello
First of all, I wanna say I got into dndads because of you and that got me into the dnd rabbit hole. I have always been interested in worldbuilding and the imaginary people in my head. I thought about writing books but I could never think of the end of a story. This has given me a possible structure to put them in. In DnD the story doesn't have to end. Thank you for that.
Previously you had posted or reblogged free dnd 5e resources, books. Or if you know any blogs that are helpful for beginner DMs, please recommend them.
If you can't find the post please ignore this.
Thank you for leading me down this wonderful path.
hi there!!! i'm so so thrilled to see this, and i'm honored to have introduced you to one of my favorite pastimes!! 🥹 dndads is such a fun podcast too - i always recommend it to anyone, dnd players or otherwise lol.
as for resources, here's what i have!
i do have a google drive link with all the official wizard of the coast books and pdfs (including 5e players handbooks, etc) but i will direct message those to you separately since it's, you know. wizards of the coast. (others can also feel free to message me for them)
here are a bunch of character sheet organized by character class
here's a super handy cheat sheet to remind you of everything that can be done on a turn
here's a folder with a bunch of unofficial fan-made resources - this includes pre-made mini campaigns and adventure modules, which i've used a lot. you can take one and modify it however much you need to fit your story. there's also a bunch of DM resources like random item generators, loot tables, puzzles, etc.
donjon random generators & map builders are the BEST for quickly creating encounters that are balanced, mapped, and full of loot
here's a random npc generator i've used a lot - perfect for when a player decides they want to know the entire life story of a shop keeper that didn't exist 2 seconds ago
medieval fantasy city generator is literally the most fun city / town / village map builder i've found
fantasy world map generator is also great if you've got a larger world to work on, you can do political maps, terrain, war maps, climate maps, p much anything all in one
aaaaand those are all the big ones i use most often! i usually use Trello to organize my DM notes and Roll20 to play with my friends virtually. if you need anything else specific feel free to reply here or send me a DM and I'll see what I've got :)

This document is supplementary to any Dungeons and Dragons game and most similar TTRPGs. It would well suit a Strixhaven campaign, where the players have a location which they stay in most often to put to use these mildly magical trinkets. Includes a pdf with a detailed d100 list, and 4 illustrated common magic items from the list.
Available as pay-what-you-want on my kofi!

so I read through your blog and you really don't like the fact that 5e Strahd is a biphobic stereotype. But you run campaigns and play him. Can I ask what changes you've made to his characterisation to make him less of a biphobic stereotype? I know you didn't do the dumb elf genocide thing with him of course
uhm so the first change i made was to his consorts because 5e is shitty towards women and to its other minimal queer rep in the adventure, so in my campaign they were remade to be actual members of his court. their exact responsibilities shifted depending on the ideas i had at the time, but in their latest incarnations ludmilla was in charge of external affairs such as communication with other realms and trade, volenta was in charge of internal affairs, anastrasya was in charge of gathering intelligence and all matters arcane, and escher was charged officially with arts and culture but he was also an active diplomat and spy for strahd. they all have royal titles (that correspond with old romanian nobility) and i made sure they all had their own little story trees of responsibilities to enact across barovia while the campaign was occurring.
i still wanted bisexual representation for strahd that was explicit, however, so a plotline was him and escher breaking up. however their romantic tryst was undertaken with an explicit understanding that strahd was still seeking tatyana, but that in spite of this search he still yearned for intimacy and closeness. escher agreed to these terms and was not taken by surprise when strahd ended things in light of tatyana being reincarnated, though he was still sad about it ending. as strahd's spy, though, he played up this heartbreak to appeal to any who may be against strahd (two members of the party) and tricked them into divulging their true intentions rather quickly. instead of having escher as a hopless gay longing for senpai strahd's love again he became a quietly dangerous character that no one noticed was spying on them lol
i also removed all instances of strahd seeking new consorts in the players. his romantic attention is focused solely on tatyana but in a respectful way that does not cross any lines and instead plays into old ideas of victorian-era courtship. tho he and our tatyana had pre-marital sex so his commitment to prudish courtship is well...... yeah lol
finally sasha was entirely removed. the idea of becoming "bored" of wives and throwing them to the crypts was misogynistic before he was bisexual, and 5th edition made this plot line worse by making strahd bisexual because it implies he is voraciously lustful and can never be sexually satisfied and that the fate of sasha may well be the fate of tatyana if they ever got married. now it's not just sexist, it's biphobic! thank u 5e <3
so yeah tl;dr i just play him as more of a forlorn romantic and gave all the consorts actual titles of duchess/viscount/marquess etc. ditched most of his romantic relationships as well. 5e's biphobia also remove the agency of other women and queer characters in their module so it was important to me not just to adjust strahd's characterization, but the characterization of those around him. through the campaign, it was hinted that ludmilla and volenta had romantic relationships of their own (volenta with gertruda, for example) and escher's crush on ismark turned into the party trying to set the two of them up on dates which is quite sweet. this gave also a lot more room to the tragedy of strahd's love for tatyana when it was inevitably, once again, taken away by forces of darkness
i also spoke to people who are bisexual and i myself read about biphobic tropes in media bc as a lesbian i would find myself icked out by contents of the module but not entirely aware of why or the history of it until context was added, so seeking outside input on what exactly was offensive and why was very helpful
anyway follow me i'm delicious

Let’s Flesh-Out Barovia: Part 2 💎
This week on LFOB we’re once again delving into the weirdly specific niche of Barovian society. We’re going to be focusing on one extremely important (somewhat homebrew) element, which brings with it some new game mechanics and spicy items for your players to hoard! Without further ado, let’s get into Barovia’s most coveted resource: Bloodstone
Bloodstone is a very niche resource that has some mentions in Faerun lore, which we’re partially thefting for Barovia because it fits SO well. So here’s our Barovian bloodstone, kids:
Bloodstone is a dark crimson (almost black) stone which grows to a reddish color when blood is spilled over its surface. When “fed” bloodstone grows warm and staves off the effects of frostbite to those holding even the smallest scraps of stone. The larger the stone, the more protection against this notorious barovian danger it can bring. Furthermore, bloodstone has the unusual ability to close gaping wounds.
Mechanics: Bloodstone can be fed 1 point of blood (~1 piercing damage to a player if you wanna be gritty) to activate its warming property. This property lasts until the following sunrise and stave off the effects of frostbite. The larger the bloodstone, the more regions of the body it protects. Otherwise a small shard might only protect one hand or foot from frostbite. Bloodstone can be run along open wounds (e.g. sword gashes, shrapnel wounds, anything open and bleeding like crazy) to magically close the wound. This does NOT heal hitpoints, but it prevents the further loss of HP. As an optional homebrew effect, bloodstone in this context can be used to end the homebrew BLEED condition (see below).
Bleed Condition: When an attack or ability deals bleed damage, a creature gains the bleeding condition. While a creature has the bleeding condition, it is subject to the following effects;
At the start of each of its turns, the creature takes bleed damage again (I.e. damage from the attack which caused the bleed).
Unless otherwise stated, the bleed damage the creature takes is reduced by 1 for each subsequent turn that the creature remains under the condition.
Unless otherwise stated, the condition ends when the amount of bleed damage the creature would take becomes 0, the creature receives magical healing of an appropriate level (restoration or better), or a creature uses their action to make a Wisdom (medicine check) with a DC equal to the bleeding condition’s current damage, or 15 (whichever is lower).
The bleeding condition cannot be stacked, but instead when a new bleeding effect is applied, the bleeding condition’s damage number becomes the higher of the two.
A creature at 0hp that is bleeding makes their death saving throws with disadvantage. On a natural 20, the bleeding stops and the creature gains 1hp
Creatures with regenerative h although abilities are resistant to bleed damage in some cases (DM discretion) and can more readily combat the effects of a bleed.
As one would expect, bloodstone is a big deal, and it’s coveted. It’s expensive, handed down from generation to generation, and it’s something every barovian strives to have even a scrap of.
The Barovian military, and any Barovian blacksmith worth their salt, readily uses bloodstone in weapons and armor. Small bloodstones are imbedded into the pommels and hilts of all standard issue swords and similar weaponry, as it staves off the effects of frostbite in the hands, and acts as a quick way to close massive wounds. Bloodstone can also be found imbedded in some plate armor to combat the effects of frostbite and make it viable for winter combat.
Medics and healers worth their salt will have at least a small bloodstone pendant.
Bloodstone jewelry is almost standard in marriage or any gifts (for those who can afford it) and is handed down through the generations as heirlooms.
The biggest flex any Barovian or Vistani can make is to have a shit ton of bloodstone jewelry.
Obviously, in the context of this homebrew, Strahd’s giant “ruby” necklace thing, is bloodstone- and a massive flex over adventurers. It can be used in combat to end any bleed conditions he may have, and to add a semblance of body temperature if he’s not fed recently.
Another, kinda obvious, reason Bloodstone is coveted is because it combats vampire bites. While themselves vampires can semi-close some wounds (I’ll do a post on Barovian vampires later) if you suffer a brutal claw or bite attack in combat, you’re going to be hit with the bleed condition. DMs can decide if they wanna use the bleed mechanic (I personally do) and what vampire attacks may cause it (crit attacks, bite attacks, etc.) but even just thematically- vampires can make a victim bleed out in minutes, making bloodstone invaluable.
A small note for those using the homebrew bleed mechanic: use the effect sparingly! Not every sword strike causes bleed. However, some blood spells (I’ll elaborate in another post), monster attacks (vampires), and enchanted or mundane weapons can cause the effect. I personally pair this mechanic with the Bloodborne Armory homebrew book. Any weapon with the serrated property causes bleed! Granted, I use the bloodborne armory mostly for Van Richten’s murder toys or some of Strahd’s enchanted weapons. However, it’s a good thing to keep in mind! Highly recommend the resource (link below)
(As always, thanks for reading! And have fun giving your players a new resource to fanatically hoard and flex with! I had a player buy a pickaxe to try and mine bloodstone when they found out what it was and how pricy it gets 😂)

I made a D&D Discord server!
It includes links to the free templates and some other resources I use, and a link to a hypothetical D&D Beyond campaign that has content sharing on that you can hypothetically join with characters and use people’s purchased books without buying them for yourself. (More info on how in the discord, the more people who join the better this will work!)
I also have an artist corner so people can commission artists for artwork, and for artists to advertise their commissions!
When you join, introduce yourself in the introductions channel and you will be granted access to the rest of the server! Be sure to read the rules as well 💕

10 rumors
So someone on Facebook requested rumors they could use in their D&D campaign. I was bored, so I wrote up some for a small farming town PCs could conceivably stop by during their travels.
Of course, the downside of doing this is that I now I want to write up this small town adventure.
(1) It's been over a year since old Harris died, but his youngest daughter, Lisbeth, has been going to the cemetery every day the past few weeks, always with a heavy covered basket that's empty when she returns home. It is driving her poor oldest sister up the wall. Maryn is doing her best to keep that family afloat and really doesn't need Lissy's odd behavior making things difficult.
(2) That thrice-damned merchant is back. Now I'm not saying he's the twistiest bastard this side of the Carseil mountains, but nothing he sells is quite right, now is it? Did you hear what happened to old Tommen when he bought some contraption off that man? Exactly. I don't know what he's doing here, but he needs to get gone.
(3) So Clara is chasing Finn who is apparently pining for Rory who has *her* eye on Clara. Now, I know it isn't kind to make fun of others' romantical distress, but come on, place your bets. Who ends up with who in this mess?
(4) Tabitha's sick again. I got Ellis, the doc's assistant, drunk--not that it was that hard on a full moon--and he let spill what's going on. Apparently, Tabby's too stubborn to leave her farm to go for the healing she needs. Something about having to keep watch or some nonsense. The doc could maybe finagle something for her cure-wise, but she needs some special herb or something that's not from these parts.
(5) Tell me, do your kids creep you sometimes? Because Lucy has got me on the bloody edge these days. Have you heard about the Dewdrop Man? You have? Dear every god that's listening, where did they come up with that? I caught her this morning before even the damned rooster was up just staring out the window humming some broken little melody under her breath. And then she asked if she could take a bit of bread and milk as a sacrifice for the Dewdrop Man. He'll apparently come for her if she doesn't play nice. Why can't kids just play with sticks and dolls like we did growing up?
(6) Is it just me or has the Grover family been a bit lucky lately? I mean, their old mutt returns out of the blue and suddenly everything is just a bit too peachy, you know? Benjy's found money lying on the street. Anice got that story published in the city paper. I even think she's pregnant even though I know the doc said she never would bear a child. It's weird, right?
(7) Weyla found some rocks in the woods. Yes, I know forests typically have rocks. Shut up and listen, okay? She found stones polished up like jewels in what she said was a perfect circle in the woods. When she walked near them she apparently heard music. Now, she didn't move them because of course Miss I Can Play Three Instruments wants to go back and figure out the tune coming from the weird rocks. But I think we ought to do something. I mean, if that's real, it's got to be dangerous, doesn't it?
(8) I don't know what's up with old Lawrence, but he's claiming his son, Toby, isn't Toby anymore. Toby's all kinds of hurt about it, of course, but Lawrence is adamant and is saying he'll pay all he's got for someone to find and bring home his real son.
(9) Now, I don't know what Benjy's got on Doc Caitlyn, but it's something. She's agreed to be on call for the fight tomorrow night. You know what that means. No holding back.
(10) I hear Rory's been having night terrors about some sort of chaos underground. Now you know I don't truck with that foresight nonsense, but you have to admit, she was right about that big storm a few months back.
