Working at a day camp this summer and watching how careful we have to be making sure it's actually one of their approved adults that's picking them up, made me think how funny it'd be if after Vector and Vanilla get together they send Charmy and Cream to day camp. Like:

(Vanilla picks the kids up from camp)

Camp staff: Okay you have the bunny girl that checks out

Vanilla: Oh the bee is mine also

Staff: Okay... That's a little odd but interspecies relationships and whatnot so yeah okay

(Vector picks the kids up)

Staff: You are neither a rabbit nor a bee

Vector: Charmy's adopted and Cream's my stepkid

Staff: Okay yeah that's fair...

(Espio picks the kids up)

Staff (tired): a chameleon... and how are you related exactly?

Espio: I'm their... uncle?

Staff: You hesitated

Espio: Well technically I'm not actually related to them but I did help raise Charmy... so I'm kind of like his second dad. But Vector basically adopted me too, so I'm kind of like the big brother... But age wise I'm really closer to being Vector's brother...

Espio: *has an identity crisis*

Staff: Well you're on the approved pickup list anyways so go ahead I guess

(Mighty comes to pick them up because everyone else is busy)

Staff: Let me guess, you're here for the bunny and the bee

Mighty: Yeah

Staff: *looking through an "approved" list that's ten feet long*

Mighty: Oh also the flying squirrel is my little brother

Staff: Of course he is that makes perfect sense

(Gmerl comes to pick them up)

Staff: A robot

Gmerl: My primary directive is to protect Cream and now Charmy--

Staff: *absolutely done with this* You're on the approved list just sign the form

Tails: Jewel? What are you doing here, you're supposed to be in the observation car.

Barry: Did you guys know she was here?

Vector and Espio: No??? Why are you in the library, Jewel?

Jewel: 👀 I thought... This is the observation car...

Tails, Barry, Vector, Espio: 😐😐😐😐

Tails: Uh-

Jewel: *turning bright red* I guess I'm going with that. This is the observation car. I'm in the right car.

Tails and Barry: ...Okay...?

Tangle: Yeah Jewel said she had to go talk to someone and left. And never came back, even when Shadow came through and locked the door.

Whisper: We assumed SHE was dead until Amy told us Sonic was murdered.

Bark: *aggressively avoiding eye contact*

Amy: I was suspicious about the whole wrong car thing with Jewel but Bark says he can clear her. He won't tell me why though. Did you two learn anything?

Tails: Jewel's adamant on her "the library car IS the observation car" story, but I think I figured out what really happened. Jewel left the observation car to meet up with Bark, and couldn't get back in because Shadow had already locked the door by that point.

Amy, looking up to Bark: Oh, what did you two talk about?

Bark: *still avoiding eye contact*

Tails: Considering Bark has what appears to be Jewel's lipstick smeared on his cheek there... I don't think much discussion happened.

Bark: 😳 *hurriedly tries to wipe it away*

Okay, one: Espio isn't my boyfriend. We kinda just met a couple days ago. Two, I'm pretty sure him and Vector are dating. Or married. I mean, they have a kid, right? Charmy?

Three: they would solve the mystery way too quick. They’re professional detectives for a reason. They wouldn't really leave any clues or anything for Amy to find herself, and that's the fun part of her birthday.

Four: there would have been the possibility of Tails being the murderer. And. Well. If he was left to do that, not even the Chaotix would be able to prove he did it. Tails, if he was evil, would definitely be more deadly that Eggman.

At this point we probably have a good idea about all the things Silver is used to doing that would cause Espio to worry about him more often than he already does - you know, all that self-destructive type of "placing anything and everything before himself" and its inevitable consequences - but do you think there's anything Espio does that'd cause Silver to "extra worry" in a similar way? (also sorry if you've already been asked a question like this before, my brain's not really firing on all cylinders atm)

It's a very good question, because I struggle with finding out what Espio's flaws are. A problem I am kind of running into with my writing is that he is... too perfect. Does that make sense? But he can get himself out of basically every problem because he's well-trained and diligent, he's the straight man and good at being the straight man in most cases, he's soulful and intelligent, ruthless without it getting in the way of his actions or causing him to make mistakes, his more self-opinionated aggrandising is accentuated by the fact he's so good at fighting, and he is a nice blend of social and withdrawn alike. So... it feels like there is not much for Silver to worry about in the first place, because Espio is just really very good at handling himself. I really need to look into Espio more, because there must be something he's bad at, haha.

Hmm, now I am thinking. Espio does often get dragged along with Vector's and Charmy's shenanigans in Sonic X, definitely at times against his will. Would that be a flaw, that he gets steamrolled by his colleagues and their zany plans? I can see Silver worry about such a thing, because Silver is absolutely not someone who follows the herd and lets himself be mouthed off so easily. His way of reacting (namely in anger) is not the best response, but it is one wherein his mission and his values remain protected and unchanged until Silver himself begins to see that there's something wrong with them. Espio's meanwhile can get compromised when Vector and Charmy are being too forceful, maybe? That would make a good flaw. And in TMOSTH, if I remember correctly, Espio's also not so adept at lying and keeping his composure: he gets flustered somewhat easily when Tails and Barry begin pushing him. But Silver himself doesn't lie in the first place and has little composure to keep at times, so I feel like that is something he's less worried about.

So overall, a flaw I think Silver might worry about is Espio's inability to keep his values and decisions from getting overrun by his colleagues. But I think we can also conclude I might need to do more research on Espio to get a better grasp of his personality🤔

Anyway... From Pokémon:
