#galarian slowpoke#picture this. this was the first pokémon revealed from the new DLCs for pokémon sword and shield. the pokémon company#up until this point‚ has never done DLC for a pokémon game before. you‚ having been jaded by shitty DLCs for other games in the past#now have a distaste for the phrase‚ and imagine this can't be good. then‚ in their teaser for the new DLC‚ they add a little event#into the game where they reveal one of the new pokémon that is going to be added in the DLC#and it is a galarian form. that is identical to the original pokémon. but with a yellow head#are you imagining it. now how fucking disappointed are you. how little faith do you have in that DLC that it's going to be as good as it wa#for the most part‚ the pokémon company has demonstrated that they do absolutely excellent DLCs. proper expansions#basically an entire other game on top of the game you already have. and they typically take up the release cycle of a full game#scarlet/violet's especially. WONDERFUL dlc. i never really properly finished the crown tundra just because i was so late to the party#because i avoided buying the dlc for so long because of this experience that i've just described to you#that by the time i bought it and played it‚ it was just because SV had been announced and i wanted more pokémon to tide me over#and i never finished it. one of these days‚ i'd like to go back and finish it‚ but i'm playing through pokémon xd gale of darkness right no#and i prefer to play. one game at a time. and i don't know when i'll ever really get back to it#or if i'll ever get back to it! name explanations and more info below :3
basic stuff
-each agency is a clan, not each unit. 14-15 clans would be silly and then we would have some clans with 5 cats and some with 2.
-starpro -> lightclan. i couldn’t call them “starclan” for obvious reasons. light is somewhat synonymous with star, so i’m going with that.
-cospro -> nightclan. i don’t think the cats in warriors know the word “cosmic”, but cosmic implies cosmos implies night sky, so we’re going with night
-rhyth lin -> rippleclan. ripple is sort of a synonym to rhythm….? this one was hard
-new di -> fortuneclan. this one is a stretch but neither “new” or “dimension” have synonyms that really fit a clan name. fortune is something that relates to multiple characters in new di though
-starclan still sort of exists, but the cats do not believe in them the way they do in warriors. they are more of a nursery tale than anything, and select cats (ex: tatsumi) believe in them, but it is not written into their code. medicine cats can still interpret signs, but they do not necessarily think of them as coming from starclan.
-medicine cat forbidden romance is not a thing here
-intermingling of clans is ok and common
-there’s like. other cats in their clans besides just the enstars cast i assume
cat names/why i chose them
fortuneclan:
knights
-tsukasa -> scarletstar (scarletblossom) . he is the leader of fortuneclan because he is one of the new di reps for the summits. both scarlet and blossom were chosen bc of his last name (scarlet is a red color… kinda similar to cherry…. and blossom for the cherry blossom).
-leo -> lionheart. ok this one is kind of cheating because lionheart is already an existing warrior, but…come on….
-izumi -> silverspring. sora describes his color as silver, and spring is in his first name
-ritsu -> frostmoon. his first name means cold moon according to the wiki so i just rehashed it
-naru -> goldenroar. since she doesn’t like her first name i didn’t want to use “storm”, and her last name can be read as “thunder” but that’s a little too close to storm? so golden for her hair and roar for her last name
switch
-natsume -> sageeye. a sage is similar to a wizard, and eye is in his first name . also the “dovesong” mentioned is wataru :)
-tsumugi -> bluewing. he is a bluebird. warrior cats probably wouldn’t straight up call a cat “bluebird” so i put wing there instead. deputy cause he’s the vp
-sora -> skyspring . sora means sky. spring is in his last name. i could have used “stream” instead to differentiate him from sena but i think spring is cuter

-madara -> tawnystripe . tawny bc it’s like kind of close to calico if you squint. stripe(s) is in his last name

what are your thoughts on betty grof and simon's ending on AT? especially on the topic of the crown as a metaphor for illness, and betty wanting to cure him of it. i don't think the ending inherently goes against the message they were going for, but i think it could've been better fleshed out to reflect that (and it might in the spinoff)
got this ask 25 days ago, and since then the first four episodes of fionna and cake have aired. i'm not sure how the series will resolve itself, and i'll inevitably write more on the matter when it does, but for now i will say that i think betty sacrificing herself for simon and leaving simon alone to face the consequences of that is not an inherently bad way to resolve that conflict. i don't like the idea that wanting to cure someone you love of an illness is somehow misguided, or that betty was wrong to want to relieve his suffering. betty gave her life to honoring simon's request, even though simon and betty's codependency made it so that neither of them can truly be happy without the other by their side. betty is miserable when simon is ice king and simon is miserable when betty is golb. an alternate timeline wherein betty never meets simon is basically her gift to herself because they are so obsessed with each other that it consumes both their lives. betty's arc in adventure time explored her side of that coin, and now simon's side is being explored.
for what it's worth, "come along with me" was never really an "ending" to adventure time. even if they hadn't made spinoffs. it's not a teleological narrative, and the episode itself stresses that just because a big battle between "good" and "evil" occurs doesn't actually mean that anything is resolved, narratively or emotionally. they keep living their lives. and when they die, there will still be other lives in the universe, existing and repeating ancient cycles. simon's return was never his conclusion, merely his beginning as a person in ooo. as adventure time was airing, i often wondered how it would end, when it was fundamentally a show that could never have any sort of defined conclusion. but thankfully, the answer is simply that it never will. even if they stop making episodes someday, this year or in a decade from now, the characters will keep living their lives, will keep facing the consequences of their past actions and gaining new experiences, even if we don't see it. but i'm glad we get to.
#i was so wary of distant lands and fionna & cake back when they were first announced#because the show is so perfect that i was like. uhhhh maybe we shouldn't try to mess with that#but of course it's still the same team of writers so i really didn't have anything to worry about after all#but yeah i don't think betty becoming golb was really framed as a 'good' thing#but also. neither was being ice king#being simon is also hard though. without betty at least#:((#at ramblings#ask#anon
