Hi, @enelea! Yes, I do; I use Greenshot to take screenshots and an older version of Photoshop (CC 2014) to edit them. :) I find Greenshot to be very user-friendly, personally. Then I have multiple Photoshop actions to crop and edit lighting, which I usually use the batch action in PS to run.

I can go into more detail about my editing if you (or anyone) wants, but it's verrrry basic (just boosting the contrast a SLIGHT bit and brightening select pictures).

I've read latest chapter in EN server and indeed it's very rare for ML to stop MC from going down to the path of darkness. However, it raises an interesting question: What if MC, out of frustration, chooses to tread that dark path to protect Victor from those who have harmed him? How do you envision Victor's response in such a scenario? Because if it were me I'd tread that path because they deserve it for hurting our way-too-good-for-this-world Victor ୧⁠(⁠ ⁠ಠ⁠ ⁠Д⁠ ⁠ಠ⁠ ⁠)⁠୨

HAHAHA let me start from the last, b/c while it’s the general mood for chapter updates, but for the last few, this has pretty much become the slogan of Li Zeyan wives: “[...] 狗叠!!! 老子才不去拯救世界呢，我要炸了恋语，带着李泽言跑路!!” the [...] refers to some very strong slangs which actually don’t have english equivalents to convey just how strong they are LOL. 狗叠 is a play on PaperGame’s name players mostly use when they are crazy mad or being sarcastic not gonna translate that either lmao and the rest translates to “the f*ck with/ screw saving the world! I’m just gonna blow up Loveland and grab Victor and run away!!” funnily enough, even players who don’t have Victor as their main were echoing similar words, which actually shows how his writers have been massively successful with their knives lmao but— anon, don’t worry, you’re not alone, that’s pretty much the mood of all Victor stans (including myself) 😂

going back to the very first part, you echo my thoughts here as well, and i actually did a long thread on twitter (yes i still do and will call it that) on this couple of weeks back haha. now, to answer your questions, S2 CH 31 itself was actually a crystal-clear answer to all of them.

i still remember just how intense of a fourth wall breaker S2 CH 31 was for me when i read for the first time— from the heroine’s monologues to her words, everything seemed palpable tbh.

the heroine unhesitatingly sacrificing herself and her life for the men and the world is nothing new around here actually, and it definitely speaks volumes of the love she has for them. but what struck a chord with me was how she didn’t think twice to head down the dark tunnel the second Victor was about to be attacked, and the only thing what kept her at bay was the man himself, which then made her re-realize how much respect she has for his beliefs and values.

the reason it hit me so hard was you don’t usually see the heroine’s of the otomes showing ugly, pure human emotions like this. the reason MC first used the black box, despite not knowing what it could do, was to “help Victor” save everyone on the ship. and literally within 30 seconds, she did a total 180 when she saw those very people were turning against him, for saving their own lives mind you. and then alongside everything she was trying to do, we see her monologues of how she couldn’t care less for what happens to everyone else as long as it meant Victor would be safe, or if it makes her selfish or cold-blooded, the things he isn’t willing to do, she’d do them for him— and here again, we see how she reminded herself the mountainous love, respect and pride she had for him that she couldn’t do something he was fighting with his life to not let happen, the best she could do was stand by him. it’s truly not a common sight where you see a male lead working as the core voice of reason for the heroine. b/c stretch it back just a little, if Victor had not stopped MC and she had proceeded with her actions— she would be going against the very reason the story exists, which is helping those who need it and saving the world :)

so, S2 CH 31 chapter gave us the clear picture that for the MC (like you and me haha)— her man, her love comes first, and if that meant the world would have to burn in hell, she wouldn’t hesitate one bit. now as for Victor’s response in that scenario– well, again, CH 31 showed us loud and clear that he’d never, ever let you do so for his sake, that’s how much he takes pride in his values and loves you and wants to protect your values first and foremost.

which is why, we often joke about how we actually have to “grab” Victor to run away and before setting Loveland on fire— i.e., knock him unconscious or something LOL cause there’s no way in hell he’d let you do that as long as he’s conscious 😂😂

Blood in your vision. In your lungs. On your hands, your clothes. Tainting the pure white snow with a trail of red you left behind.

You didn't know where you were going but you couldn't stop. Not now. You were slow, limping, but you had to keep on going. You had to. Not even the searing pain in your hip could stop you.

That had to mean something

You knew there was still something in him worth saving. If you were really in the way of his goddamn mission, he would have just killed you. Right?

But you were still here. For the moment at least.

For the first time since you pushed through the pain and got up, you stopped walking.

In front of you laid a sight that was sure to haunt you for the rest of your days. Or maybe it was more accurate to say for the rest of your hours.

His dull lifeless eyes stared back at you. The pool of blood surrounding his head stained the snow on the pavement.

Looking up you saw the broken railing.

It didn't take a genuis to put the pieces together.

Slowly, you forced your eyes away and drug yourself into the building.

When you heard the sound of the voice that gave you a reason to live oh so long ago, you slowly peeled your eyes open. An action that was more difficult than you cod have ever imagined. You looked up at him with glossy eyes that still held a glint of hope.

"C-Connor..."

Your voice was as small, broken, and pathetic as you looked.

Connor crouched down in front of you, tilting his head slighty as he scanned you.

Something you would have found adorable once upon a time.

Honestly he was a little intrigued at how you had survived this long with a bullet lodged in your hip. He was almost impressed.

"You really shouldn't have wasted the opportunity I gave you to survive. If you were smart you would have seeked out medical attention immediately. But now your survival rate is at 19% and dropping rapidly. And for what?"

His words were devoid of any emotion. Cold, uninterested, mechanical.

Your vision was becoming blurred and you didn't know if it was because of the tears or the amount of blood you had lost.

Slowly, you brought up a shaky hand and reached out to grasp his jacket as tightly as you could.

He glanced down at your hand gripping his jacket, effectively staining it with your blood. However he made no move to pry you off. You'd be dead in less than five minutes anyways.

"C-Connor....I l-love you..."

It felt near impossible to get those breathy words out of you, but what else could you do?

"How many times do I have to tell you that I am a machine. I could never return your affections. Ever. You've wasted your life for nothing."

He stated, reiterating the fact that you were denying over and over again. Telling yourself you could change him. Make him see he was so much more. But he was right. You were going to die for nothing.

You gave a humorless, breathy chuckle. Your lips curling up into a sad smile. Tearful (e/c) eyes staring into his soulless coffee brown ones.

"I know, b-but I can't stop."

Feeling too weak to stay sitting upright, you leaned forward into Connors chest. Your grip on his jacket slowly becoming looser and looser.

Surprisingly, he didn't make a move to shove you off. But you knew better than to think that could have meant anything.

He just watched you as you slowly faded away with a sense of morbid curiosity, lifting up his hand and gently taking your chin between his fingers to turn your face up to him.

He  looked into your ever dulling (e/c) eyes. Eyes that had once been so lively and bright, waiting for the moment when they would become completely lifeless. He took note of how those beautiful eyes had sunken into their sockets, and how your once radiant (s/c) skin had paled almost beyond all recognition. His thumb brushed over your lips which were now a sickly violet-blue as he patiently waited for your end.

It wasn't much longer now

And within the next thirty seconds he witnessed the light in your eyes get sniffed out. Like a candle that was blown out too soon.

After doing a scan of you to confirm you were indeed deceased, he let go of your face and stood up. Your body slumped over now that there was nothing keeping it up. Your dull, dead eyes looked up at him. But he just straightened his tie, stepped over your corpse, and walked to the exit.

He still had a mission to accomplish.

After all, he was just a machine. Designed to accomplish a task.

Not love.

Neo: The World Ends With You - Thoughts So Far

I’m on Day 6 of Week 1 and I want to compile my thoughts so far — not in a formal post, but at least all in one place, especially since I feel that jotting down what I think / feel as I go through will help me write my review when I’m done. Spoilers under the cut, obviously — and while it should go without saying, do NOT comment on this post with spoilers from later in the game, so help me. Even if I pose a question that gets answered later on — hell, especially if I do — don’t tell me. I don’t want to know. I will find out in my own time.

With that said . . .

So obviously, I’m really enjoying it so far. You can tell that the writers / devs haven’t lost their touch despite it being thirteen years since the first game was made. You can also tell that a lot of love went into this; this isn’t something they churned out just to make money (if they thought this was a moneymaker we wouldn’t have had to wait 13 freaking years for the sequel), but rather something they really, really wanted to make. Not a total passion project, because those aren’t allowed in the world of capitalism, but there is still a lot of love there. 

That said, more specific thoughts:

THE MUSIC. It doesn’t really come as a surprise given that TWEWY’s soundtrack was phenomenal, but god, they brought it right back for this game. The remixes (“Someday”, “Three Minutes Clapping”, “Transformation”, “The One Star” etc) are all excellent, but the new tracks are phenomenal too. Tbh I’m not sure how any of the Players get any fighting done when the music makes you want to just bust a move right there in the scramble. It’s so good.

Most of the characters are great too. Of the Wicked Twisters, I think Fret is my favorite; he is pure of heart, dumb of ass, and I love that for him. I do like Rindo too, of course, and his habit of overthinking everything (since Fret has zero brain cells, Rindo has to make up for it), but him being standoffish / socially anxious and snarky makes him feel a bit like a toned down Neku, so he doesn’t catch my interest quite as much. And while I do like Nagi, the way she speaks in like . . . medieval-esque language is a bit off-putting. In particular it’s weird that Rindo didn’t tell her to knock it off with the “Lord Rindo” stuff since using such an honorific would be considered awkward / embarrassing in Japanese. I guess he’s just too socially anxious / awkward to tell her to stop, but it’s still a bit distracting.  Other than that, I’m really not a fan of Kubo (one of the Reapers) or . . . Susukichi, I think his name is? The leader of the Ruinbringers. I find them both to be pretty annoying, haha. But I love Shoka, as well as Kanon, and Motoi is a good bean, too. As for the Deep River Society . . . those nerds have issues lmao. Especially their leader. Although I can’t fault him for breaking down sobbing when he realizes that he now stands a very good chance of getting erased, which reminds me . . .

HOW ARE WE ON DAY SIX AND THE WICKED TWISTERS STILL HAVE NO IDEA WHAT BEING ERASED IS?? We have kind of an inverse situation where where Neku knew right away that he would get erased if he failed the missions / didn’t win the Game, but didn’t find out until later that he was dead. Here, the Wicked Twisters learn that they’re dead fairly quickly (and Fret has some realistic denial going on about it at first, though he gets over it pretty quickly), but they’re still completely in the dark about the fact that their souls will get wiped from existence if they lose despite erasure being mentioned at least a handful of times. Like I guess it was never spelled out for them, but especially as someone who played the first game about a million times, it’s a bit maddening to see them be like, “Why is he crying like his life is on the line? lol whatevs no big deal la di da!” Since the Wicked Twisters aren’t aware of the stakes, a new player wouldn’t be either, and so it rather tones down the urgency that was felt in the original game where everyone was very much aware that they were fighting for their right to exist.

Since I brought up Motoi, I want to say that I just played past the part where he reveals that he was An0ther, who is apparently Rindo’s favorite blogger / poet. I feel like this is meant to be similar to how Hanekoma was CAT, Neku’s favorite artist, but it doesn’t carry the same impact because a.) as far as we know An0ther didn’t have anything to do with how Rindo died; b.) we haven’t seen Rindo bring An0ther or his poetry up that much, much less have anything An0ther said be his entire life’s mantra; c.) we haven’t gotten to know Motoi that well either. Like we met him once before this revelation. That said I’m not sure it was supposed to have the same impact as the Hanekoma = CAT reveal, but if it was then it did fall short. (Also I saw it coming the second Motoi quoted An0ther lmao.)

Speaking of Hanekoma, WHERE IS MY MANS??? I know he has to show up at some point because if I’m not mistaken we saw him in the trailers. And if I am mistaken then he still has to show up at some point because he played a central role in the “A New Day” epilogue chapter of Final Remix, what with Coco being unable to control him and him knowing what was going on, plus he was testing Neku for something in “Another Day” and that has to be whatever is going on in this game. I’m sure he’ll come in for some big reveal later, but like, we have a new street artist in this game (MKN) with no mention of CAT as of yet, and I’m just like . . . where is he. Where is my mans. What is he doing. Bring him to me.

That said, we already got to see my #2 mans (Kariya♥) so I am happy about that at least. 

Back to my mans for a hot second: I actually erased my demo save data and started fresh to remind myself of everything when I got the game, and idk if it was in the demo or not, but regardless—at the end of the demo portion there’s this shot of the sky and then this nameless voice is like, “It’s finally starting. I hope you wake up soon. I don’t want you to miss all the action.” My current guess is that the speaker was Hanekoma, speaking to Joshua. Joshua being “asleep” would explain why the Game is as screwed up as it is right now, what with it having been going on for a year and people able to choose to play again and again and again while the rest of the Players—who tbh should also be counted as winners if they survive the week!—are trapped in limbo.

Because that’s the thing: I know that it was partially a lie to cover for the fact that Joshua’s game with Megumi was set to last three weeks, but at the end of the third week Megumi told Neku that a new rule was being put in place that wouldn’t allow repeats of the Game anymore. But even setting that aside, in the original Shibuya UG rules, anyone who survived the Game could get a wish at the end, whether that was to be brought back to life or made into a Reaper. This is why at the end of Week 1, the three winners were Neku, Shiki, and Beat. However, here the Ruinbringers are able to keep everyone trapped and they have been trapped for at least a year, given what Motoi said. It’s completely different rules and I’m sure that this has something to do with the fact that the majority of the Reapers we’ve seen so far are from Shinjuku (at least going by the spoilery trailer, and iirc it was confirmed in “A New Day” that Coco was from Shinjuku actually, but it’s been a while so I could be wrong about that).

Speaking of, has anyone noticed that the possibly-Shinjuku Reapers don’t have wings? No?

ALSO speaking of Coco, at least tangentially: Coco was the one who revived Minamimoto at the end of “A New Day”. However, he’s definitely not how I would have expected. Like despite Coco using the Taboo Noise sigil to bring him back, he’s clearly not in his Taboo form. He’s using psychs as a Player would, rather than a Reaper. And while it’s clear he’s up to some form of nonsense, it’s unclear exactly what form of nonsense he’s up to. I know that he’s here for fanservice and that him looking like Nagi’s bias from Elegant Strategy is a tongue-in-cheek nod to that, but I have too much faith in this series to think that’s all this is. I’m wondering if being revived for a second time fixed whatever screws were loose in his head before? Or if he was revived as a human Player by like, Joshua or something? (Although why Joshua would do that I have no idea. Maybe Hanekoma instead?) Hmmm . . .

Small aside, but we all know that Nagi has put herself into hundreds of thousands of yen in debt for Tomonami merch lolol RIP Nagi. (I’m also interpreting that she’s not actually older than Rindo or Fret, but she just skipped a bunch of grades. Like I feel like this might have been lost in translation a bit, and that she’s a senpai to them because she’s in uni but she’s not actually older than them. I could be wrong but that’s how I’m interpreting it right now. She just doesn’t look or act older than them.)

Oh another minor annoyance, but whether it’s due to the partial 3D environment or something else, I’m SO ANNOYED that some of the streets aren’t connecting as they should now. Like, how going in the direction of Molco spits you out at Spain Hill or 104 or whatever? I don’t remember exactly what area it was, but it wasn’t Molco!! I’m sure if I hadn’t played the original a million times like a loser this wouldn’t be such a big deal to me, but I have and it is lmao. Also, they’ve had the Shibuya Underpass / Cat Street blocked off this whole time and I’m like :( let me go to Cat Street :( let me see my mans

I’m relieved that Ken Doi is still making delicious food and I look forward to his ramen curry fusion. I was really upset about RamenDon being gone at first but as long as Ken Doi is still around I am happy.

Franky offers to wipe Sol’s internet history.

I knew there was something up with that toy.

Never thought he’d be part of the Resistance, though. (May the force be with you, Sol.)

Once Block B’s Battle Royale concluded (more on that later), the action cut to Franky and Sol the Toy. Sol was suspicious and alarmed by Franky’s willingness to ask any random person he met about destroying a top secret local weapons factory. But Franky was unmoved. He needed intel. He followed Sol out into the stairwell.

At first, it seemed Sol wouldn’t talk. Franky threatened to leave and find someone else. “I said I need to beat up a Donquixote Family member and find out how to destroy the Smile factory!”

But Sol’s caginess stemmed from the fact that he was already involved in a similar plot! (Very cool.) “You keep talking about this radical plan, but why do you want to do such a thing? It seems like you know things ordinary people don’t. What is your true purpose?”

Franky kept his mouth shut. He’s streetwise enough to know not to let any old random in on the Strawheart Alliance’s Yonkou Stompin Plan.

But he was also smart enough to spot a potential ally. “Then you too!” he said. “Where is the factory? Tell me right now and I’ll destroy it.”

Sol refused. He was not against destroying the factory but first, “we want to save the workers.” The use of ‘we’ was a definite giveaway. Sol is not acting alone. He mentioned Rebecca earlier. Maybe she’s part of the Resistance too? I am also suspicious about this Ricky character. He also hates Doflamingo. I have a funny feeling he might be connected to Kyros too (maybe he is Kyros). After all, no one remembers seeing him fight, he just disappeared and it was only twenty years ago this happened.

Another issue Sol raised was that the fall of the factory could lead to the downfall of Dressrosa itself. (Hence Franky shouting about the factory in public not being a good idea.) Okay, I thought. That makes sense. It’d trash the local economy and bring upon the island the wrath of Kaidou. But in that case, why would Sol want that to happen? Well, maybe not *want* it to happen. It’s more like, why would Sol rather have Kaidou wreck the place rather than let the status quo run its course?

I felt like Sol almost gave it away when he said to Franky, “If you have the nerve and are determined to go against Doflamingo, I’m going to tell you everything about this tragic kingdom of Dressrosa!”

Yes, please! Please do tell us all about the tragic kingdom of Dressrosa!

But I was blueballed. The credits rolled and the plot hasn’t circled back to Sol and Franky.

I’ll make a mad prediction while I wait. I’m thinking all these invisible fairies hanging about might be the original inhabitants of Dressrosa and the Donquixote Family have enslaved them or are forcing them to work in the factory for practically nothing. 

And the Winner Is...?

Meanwhile, in the Colosseum, Block B’s battle was about to conclude.

The twists and turns here were great. I guessed Bartolomeo would emerge the victor (laws of shounen: the fighter who is totally relaxed and barely lifts a finger always ends up winning (this only applies to battles that aren’t vital to the plot)). But how the fight played out was really entertaining and I never imagined it ending that way.

The mystery of Bartolomeo’s Devil Fruit power was kept until the very end of the fight. Even Bellamy’s speed and power couldn’t break Bartolomeo’s strange, deflective powers. At first I thought it was a rebound power. This was only because Bartolomeo seemed surprised by one of Bellamy’s attacks (like the power seemed to happen automatically - not controlled by Bartolomeo). Now I know Bartolomeo must have had his fingers crossed while Bellamy was attacking. The only thing that planted a seed of doubt? Bellamy did manage to grab Bartolomeo. How had that worked?

The scene of multiple betrayals was fun. Dagama urged the fodder fighters to regroup, muster their strength and focus attacks on Blue Gilly - only for Dagama to cut them down when their backs were turned and reveal he had really teamed up with Blue Gilly all along! That was a fun twist in itself. Then, when Gilly double-crossed Dagama.... ooooh, the intrigue! The fact the fodders were probably coerced into fighting because Dagama had poisoned them only upped the scumbag stakes.

I love that Dagama had the cheek to complain Blue Gilly double-crossed him. It’s like Gilly said, “Can’t believe people would trust a dubious guy like him in the first place!”

While everyone was double-crossing each other, Elizabello shadow-boxed and sweat-dropped. A bunch of chuckling, vengeful thugs surrounded him. Gilly decided to gloat. Called him a “helpless king without a court” who couldn’t do anything without Dagama.

When Liz ceased so shadow box... that should have been everyone’s clue to take him out. Instead, the other idiots in the ring let Liz power up. The guy stood there red-faced, yelling and popping veins like he was locked in the bathroom suffering through a difficult poop.

Even the audience knew something was wrong before they did. A group of worried randoms figured out their section of the Colosseum would be wrecked if they didn’t scarper.

By the time Gilly and the other fighters noticed something was seriously wrong, Gilly’s attempt to take Liz out was too late. KABOOM! Liz threw the King Punch. It was pretty spectacular. A golden-tinged impact that would have done Caesar proud. It took out almost everyone. Bellamy, Gilly, everyone who had been knocked out, was blown away into the moat.

Only a single-person remained in the ring.

IT WAS ME, DIO BARTOLOMEO!

Yes, it was Bartolomeo! And the trick he had been using to job the entire fight was revealed by Liz’s King Punch. 

Bellamy was right: Bartolomeo was a Devil Fruit user. He has eaten the Barrier Barrier Fruit, which enables him to protect himself from (any?) attacks if he crosses his fingers. He also unwittingly used his powers to save a large section of the Colosseum and the crowd who would have been obliterated by the blast. Not sure if he’d like that. But a win was a win, right?

Interestingly, Bartolomeo also has a reason for fighting. After he told the audience to go to hell, he declared he would win the Mera Mera Fruit and dedicate it to “That Person.”

As yet, I have absolutely no clue who it could be. 

But Bartolomeo’s reaction to finding out Strawhat Luffy was in the mix was intriguing. Was that fear I saw on his face? I’m trying to remember if I’ve ever seen Bartolomeo before but am drawing a complete blank. The weirdest thing was that there was no confrontation between Luffy and Bartolomeo. Looking forward to seeing what is up with this guy later on.

Luffy cheering on Bellamy was a good twist too. Actually, it’s not really a twist. When it comes to most people Luffy doesn’t care much about the past (Teach and Akainu are probably on the shit list for good). If he can forgive you, then all is forgotten. Of course, Bellamy felt embarrassed being cheered on by the old enemy who gave him a pasting. Doubly so, since he has failed again and Luffy has become so much stronger (able to use Conqueror’s haki - like Doflamingo, I guess).

Now the focus is on Block C. The competitors here seem a bit fodderish, with the exception of Don Chinjao. We have Sai, Boo, Brutal Bull (lmao), Hajrudin a Giant pirate mercenary from Elbaf, some fighting champ called Ideo, the Funk Brothers (lmao) and some guy called Jean the Bandit. Rebecca should clean up here. Then, when Block D comes around, it’ll be Luffy vs Cabbage.

Unpopular Opinion Time

I am beginning to like Caesar.

There must be something wrong with me.

Oda, I can’t believe you’ve done this. It is entirely your fault.

The action cut from Bartolomeo’s horrified Luffy realisation to the Caesar Handover Team out on the bridge.

My prediction that it would take them ages to cross the bridge was shot down in glorious flames. Thanks to Caesar, it didn’t even take them half an episode! Thank you, Oda.

It turned out the solid-looking iron bridge praised by Usopp was not especially robust. I think Caesar jinxed it, though. He was the one who said, “We’ll be fine if the fish don’t strike.”

Then a bubbling rumble in the depths announced itself. I lol’d heartily when a Vast Horned Abomination slammed itself into the barrier and stared at them with a grin stretched across its face and a look of murder in its mad, red eyes that said, “There will not be a second smash.” (I liked their design, by the way. The fighting fish look awesome.)

As Law wanted to reserve most of his strength for the return journey, he left Robin and Usopp to smack down the fighting fish (literally in Robin’s case). They were doing a fine job, but when Law asked Usopp to uncuff Caesar so he could fight...

Holy moly, Caesar is actually pretty strong. I keep forgetting, since he acts like such a highly-strung goofball diva a lot of the time, but damn... those Gastille beams fried those fish like it was cookout season!

Still, there were a lot of fish. And the bridge had collapsed in the middle. With nowhere to run, Law almost used Room, but the offending fish was speared, netted and dragged away along the other half of the bridge by freaked out, invisible people. (Interesting.)

Once Caesar was convinced to fly them all over the broken bridge (Caesar is basically Law’s bitch now his heart’s in a box. He is hilariously bitter about it,) they discovered the netted fish drag marks led straight to Green Bit.

It’s a strange place, is Green Bit. It is supposedly deserted and is therefore overgrown, wild, full of animal life. Ships lie wrecked all round the coast. A single, huge rose towers over everything else (hence the name Dressrosa?) Usopp should be fine here. He’s used to hostile wilderness terrain. Unless the invisible fairy people attack them. Then all bets are off.

KNEW IT.

I totally knew Sanji was being played.

Still, I’m glad the dumb charade has finally run its course. At least it only lasted for a couple of minutes each episode. I was getting tired of Sanji dropping all his Strawhat responsibilities for a random.

Got to admit, though, the brief skirmish with the thugs in the warehouse was cool. Sanji was so fast, the guy never knew what hit him. Sanji is always so stylish when he fights.

And look at what it’s got him into. Cuffed and likely hauled off to who-knows-what fate. Sanji’s reaction to Violet was interesting. It was almost like he recognised her face. (Either that or realisation hit that he was being played the entire time.) Whatever the case, this plot line has just become ten times more interesting and I’m looking forward to seeing where it leads.

If I can make another mad prediction? Violet is a member of CP0. Absolutely no basis for this other than she looks pretty dead behind the eyes, is kinda scary and her working with CP0 would tie them into the main plot nicely.

Chapter 545 Thoughts

Wow, it’s been so long since I wrote a chapter review. I can’t believe this is truly the final chapter. It doesn’t feel like it’s actually over, and I guess that’s because the ending doesn’t really feel like an ending? And I think that’s partly what Mashima was going for.

But, I’ll talk about the the general stuff later. First I’m going to focus on the ships, as that was such a main part of the chapter anyway. 

First of all, IMO, all the major ships are canon. Nalu is canon. Gruvia is canon. Jerza is canon. And Gajevy is (obviously lmao) canon. 

I’m going to be honest, though, I was disappointed to an extent, and that’s largely because we, the fans, didn’t get that 499 was Gray’s answer. So, I’m going to backtrack, and talk about that chapter again first.

Juvia got that Gray’s actions and words in 499 was his answer, that’s why she said his words made her happy at the time. But the fans wanted more. Gray was never a direct person. He shows his feelings with actions, not words. And there was nothing greater he could do, than kill himself, in order to prevent himself from hurting HER any further. Like he said, he wanted to protect Juvia at all costs. And we’ve seen him do just that, again and again over the years. 

But 499 was different. We saw Juvia take action first, and knew why she was doing it, and Gray likewise, took the same actions, for the same reasons, and Juvia knew it. And WE knew it. We knew why. We knew then that Gray’s feelings were mutual. But we still thought there would be more. Something more direct. But like I said, and like we knew, Gray isn’t one for words. And because Juvia understands him on a different level, she doesn’t need him to say anything. What he tried to say, and what he did, was enough for her. 

We should have got it, because lover’s double suicide is such a huge statement in Japanese fiction and culture. 

But we didn’t get it.

 And that’s ok. 

Because I can look back now, taking away my expectations, and appreciating what we got. because 499 really gave us everything we had wanted, and really did show us Gray’s mutual feelings. 453 showed his mutual feelings. 416 showed his mutual feelings. Gruvia have gone canon about four times so far lmao. But we’re huge fans, and always wanted more. Again, something direct.

And yet, in THIS chapter, Gray was TOO direct lmao. It wasn’t at all what I was expecting. I was expecting something sweet, something romantic, I was expecting a serious talk. And they kind of had all of that, but in a way that was very in character for Gruvia. It was their classic dynamic, except flipped on it’s head lol.

So, here’s how it came off to me. 

Obviously Gray is already stripped when we see him, and Juvia, as usual, reacts to it, by blushing, and being embarrassed, and taking a good look haha. But then she starts taking off her clothes, while Wakaba and Makao perv over her. Then we get more of Juvia wanting to take everything off (and she’s had too much to drink, so she’s also emotional, drunk Juvia at this point lol), and we have Gray, for the first time EVER, reacting to Juvia removing her clothing. This is HUGE for a number of reason:

a) Gray is blushing (blushy Gray, is best Gray).

b) Gray is trying to stop her

c) Gray has turned into Juvia lol!

Because the roles are reversed, aren’t they? Juvia is usually the one blushing, and freaking out over Gray randomly stripping. And it also shows growth and change in their relationship, because Gray has seen Juvia strip before. She did so several times during the Avatar/Alvarez arcs. But Gray never even seemed to notice before, let alone blush, and get upset by it!

Juvia was being ogled by Gildarts, who at first said girls shouldn’t drink, then he wanted Juvia to drink more, because it meant she’d take off more clothes haha. But we see Gray, angry at Juvia for stripping, and dragging her away as she apologizes. Again, their roles are completely flipped lmao. But I love it, because we know that Gray is being protective of her. Something MAJOR has changed in their relationship for Gray to be reacting this way now, in comparison to his non-reactions of the past. 

But here’s the best part, the SCARS. 

First of all, Juvia’s scar really should be in the middle of her torso, not the side, but I guess Mashima wanted to mirror the placement of Gray’s. It’s not a big deal, but something I definitely noticed lol. 

Anyway, I just really love that they both kept those scars, because they are a physical representation of their feelings for each other. But here’s the thing I saw some people complaining about, and I believe it’s because they don’t really understand what Gray is saying. 

Gray is upset that Juvia still has her scar. Not because it’s some sexist thing, but because seeing the scar reminds Gray of what he failed to do, and that is, he failed to protect Juvia. That scar is, to him, a representation of his weakness, and the hurt he thinks he caused her. Remember, before the war ended, he said he wanted to apologize to Juvia and thought of 499. 

Juvia protected him, and she died for him. And he doesn’t want that scar on her, because it brings back traumatic memories and guilt. We know Gray is someone who has a hard time letting go of things like that. He carried the guilt over Ur for a decade+, and he still probably carries it. 

We saw how devastated Gray was when he thought he failed to save Juvia. He never wanted her to die for him. And it wasn’t him. It was Wendy who ultimately saved her. And that scar marred her body. If it wasn’t for his failure, she wouldn’t have it. That’s how he sees it, IMO. So, that’s why he wants her to get rid of it. 

Not to mention, when he goes on to say, that men and women’s bodies are different, he is viewing her as something sacred. She’s so special and important to him, and again, in his eyes, he let her get hurt, and even caused some of that hurt. She’s been scarred because he couldn’t prevent it. 

Also, as far as I’m concerned, the dialogue doesn’t mean this is Gray’s first time seeing the scar. He stated, “it’s still there, huh.” So, we know he’s seen it before, because he knows it exists. Not to mention, surely, this is not the first time Juvia has stripped in front of Gray since she got it. It’s been a whole year since the war ended. So, no, I’m sure he’s seen the scar plenty of times before. But he doesn’t like to see it, and perhaps he never brought it up before, and Mashima is making him bring it up now for our sakes, so they can have this conversation.

Juvia says she doesn’t mind the scar, and points out Gray’s hypocrisy, since he also kept his scar from when he also tried to kill himself in order to save her life.

I personally love that they both chose to keep their scars. Gray has said before that his scars are important to him. He has his Lyon scar, and his Ultear scar, and his Juvia scar is the biggest of all. Neither have rid their bodies of these scars, even though they could via Wendy, because it represents what they would go through for each other. It’s a mark of their love, and how deep it goes. And I think that’s beautiful. 

But Gray gets really agitated and starts arguing that men and women’s bodies are different! He starts talking specifically about Juvia’s body, and this leads Juvia to question, what about her body? 

Gray immediately gets so very blushy. His pupils are dilated. he’s looking down at her, with her breasts exposed, and you can tell he’s thinking hard during that major pause he took haha. And then Gray says the most gloriously pervy thing ever, which is that her body (or Juvia herself, depending on the translation) is his!!! 

I died hahahaha. 

I never, in a million years, would expect Gray to say something so blatantly sexual to Juvia. And that leads to my next point. In my opinion, Gray wouldn’t say something that forward suddenly, if they weren’t already together. I can’t see him starting a relationship with THAT, and certainly not after a whole year of nothing between them at all. 

As I said, 499 was the answer. A whole year has passed since the war. I find it immensely hard to believe, that they weren’t in a relationship during this chapter. The way Gray was reacting to Juvia here (the blushing, the anger at her stripping, how protective he was being, and his words) all indicate that they were already together at this time. Whether they were also sexually active, I really don’t know. But depending on the translation, I think it’s very possible they could already be so, considering he said her body is his haha. That’s something a boyfriend would say if he had already had her body, if you know what I mean. ^_~

The stuttering of “ers” and “ums” that preceded and followed the statement, as well as the “maybe” seemed to me like he was embarrassed to be saying it all aloud. I equate it to a guy saying something he realizes might have crossed a line with his girlfriend, and trying to make it ok, but adding a “if that’s ok with you, dear!” And we know for a fact he was embarrassed, because he was blushing so hard the entire time, and even had to look away from her. ^-^

But, again, Juvia knew exactly what he meant by his words, and again, Juvia reacted positively with hearts all over the place. And her classic “Juveeeen!” as a sound effect haha! 

Juvia got what he was saying, and she liked it. She was definitely very happy with his words. And like I said, I think at this point, they are already together. Otherwise, I think Juvia’s reaction would have been even more extreme than it was. It just seemed like Gray was admitting something aloud, that he had never admitted before, and she enjoyed that haha. 

Plus, it reminded me of when Juvia said in 499 that her life would forever, and always belong to Gray. There were just so many throwbacks to 499, to reemphasize that was the beginning of their relationship. That’s when everything was decided between the two of them. And this comment was just him boldly stating their relationship status haha. The only thing that would have made it better, was if Gray followed “you’re mine,” with “and I’m yours.”

Also, I loved Wendy’s reaction to what Gray said, because it gave it even more weight and context. Wendy reacted even more strongly to Gray’s very sexual words, than she did when Levy mentioned the baby to Gajeel,  by adding the gesture of covering her mouth. She knows what Gray just said was a HUGE deal, and something too scandalous for her young ears lol! And it’s great, because I am always in favor of sexy Gruvia traumatizing Wendy hahaha! ^-^

Even Lucy is narrating how she was observing all the different couples/relationships, and Gray and Juvia were ones that “got along,” as she puts it. ^_~

Basically, all signs to me, indicate that Gray and Juvia have been an item for a while, and this is us getting to see them as a couple. 

I know a lot of people wanted the timeskip, and the marriage, and the babies so badly. I understand. I wanted it, too. But it was never a priority to me. It was always going to be a bonus to their canon moment. I guess I felt that way, because I didn’t want to say goodbye to the characters I had grown to love so much. Introducing the next generation, meant putting a lot of these characters on the back-burner. Especially for my favorite character, Juvia. 

I have no doubt, if Juvia was married to Gray, and became a mom, that’s what she’d do from now on. She’d be mostly a stay-at-home mother, because that’s just the kind of character she is. She is very domestic, and not very interested in battling. She does it, because she has to, to protect the people she loves. Not that we’d go very in depth with a next gen, even if Mashima happened to introduce them. BUT, i like the idea that the story ends while they are still young, and having adventures together. And I think Mashima liked that idea, too, and that’s why he chose to do things this way. 

Also, it’s rare to see characters in shounen in actual romantic relationships, without skipping ahead into marriage and kids. Like i said, I think it’s incredibly likely Gray and Juvia are already together at the time of this chapter, and this is us getting to see their dynamic as a couple. And that’s pretty exciting to me. And as we saw, Gray and Juvia as a couple, gave us blushy, tsun, jealous, Gray declaring Juvia as his, and wanting her body. I wholly approve of this kind of dynamic ohoho! ^_~ I didn’t think we’d ever see blushy Gray again, and I’m so glad he’s back. *-* 

Plus, I love Gray being protective of Juvia, because her body isn’t just her concern, but his, too, because they are together,. That’s how I ultimately see his comment. It was a very intimate thing to say, and that’s pretty awesome. ^-^

Also, i have to talk about Gruvia on the cover of the magazine. How freaking cute were they? I now have a problem, because, first that autumn of romantic love postcard was the cutest Gruvia picture in existence. Then it was the kitty ears Gruvia picture. Then it was that recent blushy Gruvia sketch with their heads up against each other. And now this! SO MUCH CUTE!!!!

So, as far as the gruvia goes, was it what i wanted? No.Would I have liked more? Always haha. I didn’t get my gruvia kiss, that I so very badly needed. Honestly, if I could improve this at all, it would be to see some undeniably romantic physical contact between them. So, that makes me sad to know we’ll never get it now (unless mashima surprises us one day with extra content, which I’m all for lol). 

BUT, I am happy that Gruvia is finally canon. And sad, that they’ve basically been canon for a while, and I couldn’t appreciate it for what it was at the time lmao. 

Now, after that book I just wrote lmao, I’ll touch on the rest of the chapter. 

Like i said, Nalu is canon. The slight tease at the beginning, with Gajeel accusing Natsu of having a crush on Anna because she smells like Lucy, and him calmly agreeing was too funny! Gajeel was even shocked and blushy, and Lucy was certainly blushy, too, which says it all lol! 

But I really loved that whole scene with Lucy waking up back at her house, and realizing she made Natsu do all kinds of things (carry her home, change her clothes, and sleep with her). It was both cute and hilarious! “I can never be a bride!!!” ;_; LMAO

And it was sweet seeing all her memories, and realizing how far she came because of Natsu being there beside her. And that HUG!!! And Natsu being Natsu, and not doing what Lucy was clearly hoping he would do (give her a kiss!!!) was pretty in character, so i can’t fault it, even though I wish it had happened. Besides, the words Natsu spoke afterwards said it all, IMO. They will be together forever. That’s totally lovers/proposal talk if you ask me. And Lucy knew that, too. 

Jerza got screwed. I mean, there’s no other way to say it, honestly. They deserved so much more. I remember when I thought they’d be the first to go explicitly canon. i remember when I thought they be the ones to either get a wedding, or implied sex at the end of the series. Because they’ve been mutually in love the longest.

That being said, I do get what Mashima was doing with their scenes.

Jellal and the rest of Crime Sorciery were pardoned and free, and that’s good. That’s what needed to happen. But to deny them scenes so often throughout the series, and for so long? And then not have them interact, and decidedly together at the end? No. That’s not cool. Yes, Mashima was basically implying/teasing that they might already be together/seeing each other (that “Erza brushing her hair every day” comment), but they should have had more than that. It wasn’t nice to their fans, or the characters IMO. 

However, that being said, I’ve thought Jerza were canon since the Oracion Seis arc, or if we’re being picky, then certainly since that (almost?) kiss. I don’t like when people say “oh, couples need to obviously be in relationships (marriage and kids!) in order to be canon. Mutual feelings =  canon to me. And always has. 

Gajevy basically got what we already knew they were supposed to get, which was those twins from the light novel being absolutely confirmed on the way, and also showing that they were definitely in a relationship. Again, like with Gruvia, Wendy’s reaction said it all lol.

I thought the bit of Elfever was cute. I don’t really care much about Kinana and Cobra, but it’s nice, I guess? 

Now, the things I didn’t like. 

I’m happy that Lucy is a successful author, BUT I felt like the party should have been at the guild, rather than an award ceremony for Lucy. I would have loved to see everyone getting drunk and rowdy in celebration in the guild one last time, just like the old days.

I also wish there hadn’t been a one year timeskip. FT never does timeskips well. I hate them all haha. If it had to be a timeskip, I wish we had a massive one with the marriage and kids thing (even if I didn’t need it), OR the timeskip was really short (like a month). 

Because Natsu taking so long to tell Lucy what he wanted to do after the war (even if he was waiting on permission), and the dynamics of some of the couples a whole year later, was questionable after so much time had already passed. 

Also, I shipped Miraxus, so while I appreciated that tease, I didn’t like that they made Laxus some kind of playboy, like Mashima couldn’t decide, and just chose to throw a bone to most of the Laxus pairings he knew about lmao.

I did not like that Makarov didn’t give Laxus the guildmaster position. I thought it should have happened. i wanted it to happen. It feels like Laxus’ story was left partly unresolved in a way. And, well, Makarov should be dead. So, it sucks that he’s still there. Die, Makarov. Die. 

The thing I’m most angry with, though, was the Zeref and Mavis scene. It was so unneeded. They had such a great ending. They got so much material in such a short amount of time in the series (more than most of the major couples in the series). Them dying together, and being together in the afterlife, after having lived so long, was fitting. So, I thought bringing them back, and devoting so many pages (FIVE!) on them with this weird reincarnation scene, was really off-putting. 

Not to mention, poor August! They never knew he was their child. Mavis didn’t even know he existed. I thought we were going to get a scene with them meeting him in the after life, and finally being a happy family together. And instead, we get this. WHY? I’m sorry to anyone who liked this, but I felt it took away from how their story ended, and took away time from characters who needed it more in this final chapter. 

As for the 100 year quest, that’s not something I dislike. As other have said, it’s just a quest that’s so difficult, it hasn’t been completed in a 100 years. That’s what Natsu wanted to do after the war. I’m sure, with the incredibly over-powered team they have, they will get the job done in no time. For example, I’m not worried about characters like Juvia, who were left behind. If anything, Juvia could always go to Gray if he needs her (or she needs him lol). They have “communication Lacryma” now, so he could always call her. And, they can always come back whenever they want. It’s not like they are going to disappear. 

And it was fitting to end the series on the original “strongest team.”

It’s not the ending I thought we’d get. I’m not 100% happy with it by any means. There are tons of things I would have done differently. BUT, it was very Fairy Tail, Everyone did get their happy endings for the most part. And, now we get to imagine what happened during that one year after the war, and how do they continue on from here? That’s a lot of room to play with in fandom content, which is great.

And going back to Gruvia, THEY ARE CANON. And that’s just really nice to say. ^_~

It’s not just their interaction that matters, it’s seeing their actions whilst fully aware of their pasts to identify growth/change and how others can see their love even when they are not physically together: it’s in how Josie says ‘my father is a fool, one look at you and he should’ve known how this would end’, it’s in how Bellamy seems to ‘care about her more’ than everyone else he cares about (according to J, who is apparently great at reading people est. ep7). It’s how Russell says to Josie ‘have you become so callous to the feelings of others that you don’t remember what it’s like to lose someone you love?’ when canonically she has only expressed loss with Gabriel. She talks about how G has been trying to kill her for 70 years and says ‘relationships, yknow?’ As if B was gonna be like ‘lol tru’, then she takes a walk down memory lane, saying ‘besties’ before claiming how BC is ‘weird’. You’re right Josie, louder!

It’s weird because in s1, the script says Bellamy was thrown by the intimacy then said that for a moment Clarke wanted to run away with him as she held his face in her hands? platonically?What even?? I know, so glad we got this 131 year old slow burn instead. It’s weird because they flirted and C invited B to get a drink with her but B turned her down, choosing to be the responsible boy that will have his fun when the grounders come... It’s weird because there was a Lexa-Clarke-Bellamy love triangle according to Alycia (Do I even need to go on?)

It’s weird because Clarke jumped on Niylah after putting her hand on top of hers that were on her shoulders, it’s her mating ritual for when she wants to get laid. Observe: she pulled the same shit on Bellamy in the list scene only for him to tell her ‘get some sleep’ (LOL awks - who told her to platonically smush her face on top of their hands that rested on her shoulder for 10+ seconds - maybe B was thrown by the intimacy again bc he was like ‘gtg’ lol) and she ended up in Niylah’s bed the next morning.

It’s weird because Clarke was willing to sacrifice her mother in s3 (Abby was literally hanging when B came in right on time) but gave into Roan’s blackmail with B and Kane in s4 - WELL of course because Kane is her stepdad!!! but...she was willing to let her mum die and that’s exactly what she reminds Roan and the viewers before it becomes canon that Bellamy is THAT pal ™ that is more important than your mother + 50 skykru lives that were dropped from the list just like that even though the whole season Clarke had been all for her people first. Remember when he was about to open the bunker and Clarke fully thought she was saving the human race by locking skykru in but let B open it anyway, crying as she couldn’t even shoot him in the leg or something? Talk about WEAK! Bellamy somehow convinced her to let everyone in?👀 Clexa coalition parallels anyone? No? Ok.

Remember how she looked as she volunteers to go with B to get Raven even tho 5 secs ago, she was ok leaving her and every other friend and human out to die? (Sidenote: ‘I never meant to hurt you’ like CLARKE PLS, you were about let around 600 people die and ur talking about Bellamy? Check urself, he’s pissed too - until he isn’t because Clarke says ‘nothing is okay, no matter what I choose, somebody always dies’ which makes B make light of it (bc he always understands) with ‘not shooting me was the right choice’ leading to it being canon that BC staring at each other causes them to run over someone and crash their very necessary life-saving vehicle... Who tf wrote this???) Throwback to TondC (‘I did it to save Bellamy’ followed ‘what if I sent him in there to die’ which followed ‘you should go, I was being weak’ - the LENgths she was willing to go to progressed with her worry for him that it was truly tragic for the grounder villagers (but tbf Lexa did convince her so Heda is right, they totally couldn’t have created a fire diversion as Clarke suggested) and that worry turned into literal platonic love as, for a moment, it was tragic for everyone outside the bunker too that second times C had to make a similar choice. The narrative really made Clarke say and do those things in that order huh? Wow) Remember how she was ready to let O die and keep B in the bunker, have him hate her to parallel kabby that season? HOW is B still alive? He was all like ‘I’m not gonna be in the bunker’ and Clarke’s like ‘you WILL’ before he even finishes his sentence lol. He did say ‘people die when you’re in charge’ and yet... it’s almost like idk, Clarke never wants to lose him ever.

Platonically of course because their attraction to each other has disappeared since s1... because you see that person and you’re like ‘lol nvm, ur not as hot as I remember 6 years ago when we were giving each other the looks™’ right? So you just watch them make out with their SO twice in canon to drive that point home. Especially when it’s your bff that you talked to everyday for 2199 days according to Flame!Madi who strutted right up to Bellamy, demanded he forgive C (lexa, is that you fighting in Clarke’s corner? 😭) before telling him something she ‘SHOULDN’t’ tell him?? Sorry Clarke, was this a private thing that Madi was privy to that she felt she shouldn’t expose or did you tell her not to mention it?? Madi said ‘she called YOU’ lol, like when is Madi gonna expose Clarke’s radio calls to Raven pls, I need the platonic princess mechanic relationship instantly restored like that! The radio call elixir: makes you soft for you bff and invite her to decide the fate of the human race as you always do (we genuinely love a platonic team!) despite the fact she left you to die 2 days ago for endangering her kid in the name of stopping the war, which she herself decided to later do after Lexa, her romantic soulmate, tells her not to make the same mistake she did because it would be her biggest regret. Lexa tells C don’t abandon your platonic pal™, love is not weakness and life should be about more than just surviving. Did Lexa say Bellarke rights, Clarke be happy and let yourself love him? No, Lexa wants BC to live like her and Clarke did in her bed? No, no, Lexa said ‘live like Clexa, but don’t have sex’? Yup that’s what happened. And C has the audacity to say ‘save him’ after giving her child permission to walk into a war zone and endanger her life like.. I prayed Lexa protects Madi yes pls.

Either way, let your bff know you love him! Say ‘bro, you kept me sane and I love you for that’- it’s easy gsjsjah why you making it so hard, girl?? Hug and move on, let’s go! There was a perfect opportunity around that fire where you instead wasted time saying ‘all of me for all of us’ to just B? (All of u is for all two of you huh? Jk jk lol this is the most platonic thing in s5, I digress) before giving him ur bread lmao y so dramatic, we love extra af jokester pals (I do really like the platonic bad jokes fr tho 😂👌🏾)

EVERY DAY for 2199 days huh?: It’s canon that Clarke Griffin after getting radiation roasted, decided to pick up her radio from the floor with her blistered hand that first day to try to call Bellamy, wanting to find out asap if he were alive... He didn’t respond and C had two choices they were alive or they were dead? Either way she said fuck it, Imma hope he’s alive and imma call Bellamy every day like the pal™ that I am, not even thinking like this: ‘imma talk to lexa bc she’s the love of my life and it’s literally just been 2-3 months since she got put in the flame and the flame is on Earth with me so I’m at peace.’ Like why wasn’t that canon instead?? Instead we got ‘I still have hope’ @ B 2199 days later.

The platonicness of Madi looking at Bellamy only and going ‘Clarke knew you would come’ and grabbing him by the hand like she’s his BFF? (that’s Clarke’s BFF Madi, get your own!) sorry but Madi has never met him in her life but she’s like ‘Clarke’s in trouble’ and suddenly B has been kidnapped by a kid. The rest of spacekru left alone in the forest to figure out their own shit bc B said ‘gtg save my bestie brb’ - NOT EVEN, he straight up left them stranded LMAO. (S6 in a nutshell tbh) Then Clarke in s6 has the audacity to look caught ™ when B casually brings radio calls up as friends would, he says it’s a lil pathetic and Clarke becomes the literal sun and B becomes the moon, shining all the laughs right back at her. Meanwhile, Clarke’s large ass pupils are drinking in all this HAPPINESS - not to reach but was that an example of life being more than just surviving? We actually have time for jokes and banter now? Fck Yeah ✨✨

What’s funny is the fact that Jordan knew about the head and the heart convo from s4 because B must’ve told Monty/Harper somewhere between being on the ring and before going into cryo. Since s5 was canon of what happened between returning to earth and going into cryo, logic leads me to believe Bellamy talked to marper about the head and the heart on the ring. It’s funny how Bellamy still got emotional when she’s brought up 6 years after ‘her death’ (Clexa parallels anyone?) and funny how determined he is to honour Clarke’s last words (be the head so their friends survive) only to say ‘I don’t need you anymore’ under psychosis, is that a trauma I see? 👀 soz, did I miss the season Bellamy said he needed Clarke? Only Clarke says the word need (‘I need you’, ‘we need each other, Bellamy’) unless that’s what he meant when he said ‘you got it backwards’ (@ Jaha saying you keep her centered)or when he whispered ‘I’ve got you for that’ or when he shouted ‘I CAN’T lose Clarke... we can’t lose her’. Either way, I love platonic soulmates that need each other.

(Randomly just remembered when B had that nice pal talk with Wells about how Clarke never sees him when Finn’s around, lolll what?? Weirdo. BC parallels with Wells and Clarke? Yes pls)

Clarke who said ‘u look fine today, sad boy so I’mma look you over from the tips of ur toes to the top of ur head platonically then tell you you’re special and that your sis will come around’ and B who canonically says ‘Clarke, if I don’t see you again-‘ only for Clarke to be like ‘you WILL’ before B even finished his sentence - it’s rude to interrupt your friends when they’re talking Clarke! He was only gonna say ‘may we meet again’ anyway bc for some reason y’all bffs don’t canonically say ‘I love you [bro]’ and maybe B knows it’s because you hate I love yous and don’t say it unless you think it’s goodbye forever.

It’s in how Clarke puts Bellamy at the same level as Madi and cannot face Bellamy in her mind space, despite him being alive, because she thinks that he thinks she’s a monster - she cannot see her platonic pal’s love, I love that trope. It’s in how Clarke says ‘I’m not leaving you’ because her biggest regret was leaving B in the pits (but also the time she left him after MW) and it’s in how Bellamy says ‘I won’t let you die’ after letting her die twice now, I call that growth. So J mocks their weird relationship and B is like ‘lols I know’. He has a girlfriend who lied to him about her past during the 6 uninterrupted years they spent on the ring and he starts an argument with her seemingly out of nowhere (after watching Clarke dance with the doctor) and lying that at the last party he was at, he couldn’t protect his sister when we damn well know that the last party he was at was Jasper’s, does echo not know about Jasper? Did no one (Bellamy) tell her? He didn’t have to say ‘the last party I was at’ he could’ve easily said ‘at the party on Ark’. The way he even said this sounded like he was telling Echo for the first time what happened to his sister... they didn’t talk about the reason he ended up on the ground whilst on the ring huh? When Echo says something reasonable, he snaps that this is about feelings and that he never knows how she feels about anything... sounds like he’s projecting but I’m not going to tell you how to interpret it. Then when Echo opens up about her past, B says ‘you told me you didn’t remember your parents’. I love watching becho development because it’s clear how becho are not as compatible as we would’ve thought. (My headcanon up until s6 for them was that they connected over their similar childhoods and responsibility to their people and share the burden of the sins they’ve committed to live and grow together whilst finding peace in each other)

(This is just a snippet of how I see BC and I have no reason to be biased towards it. In fact, during s2-3 I actively made myself ship Clexa more than I shipped BC because I wanted that win for lgbt rep - yes, my mind is that extra that even without social media influence on my binge viewing experience, I felt that Clexa deserved E V E R Y T H I N G so believe me when I say I didn’t want this blarke life 🙃)

Everyone is agreed that they have an awesome non-sexual soulmate love? Yes? I admit, they COULD be platonic, depending on your definition of sexuality. Platonic is defined as ‘love or friendship that is affectionate/intimate but not sexual’.

If Clarke died next ep, bellarke will be remembered as platonic by those that believe sexual acts are what make a relationship romantic and remembered as romantic by those that infer sexual chemistry/feelings/thoughts in certain bellarke scenes.

Imo, it’s not logical to believe sexuality is only physical: it goes against basic common sense in that people would only be considered straight/gay/bi etc. at the point of their first sexual encounter and dating relationships would be platonic until the first sexual act within it.

Personally, I think romantic relationships arise with intention: the shared understanding of what you are offering each other (sexual acts included) and how you prioritise your person over all other humans.

It’s not crude to appreciate the intricacy of physical attraction or understand the implications of it driving the need to be as intimate as possible with someone. And the problem with bellarke is that there IS sexual chemistry and attraction. It’s established in season 1 and it’s made headlines - not that you should care- but both types of people (that would now consider bellarke platonic and those that wouldn’t) probably picked up on it because this aspect of their relationship was planned and written into the story. Longing and pining to just BE with someone is the pinnacle of romance and not only is it canon that bellarke look at each other with humongous pupils, it is also canon (through writing, direction and music) that bellarke prioritise each other, are extremely vulnerable to each other, always want to be ‘together’ do things ‘together’ no matter what. So I’m failing to understand why people don’t want to look at all the evidence and draw the clear conclusion: Bellarke tick every box for a romantic relationship except sexual acts and I think it’s a disservice to not recognise the reality of them as the epic love story that they are. Let’s not even mention the possibility that the reason they haven’t ticked that box is because they have given themselves over to their people in selfless duty or continued trauma from lost lovers.

I’m gonna conclude by saying I ship Clexa and Bellarke but with what’s going on in the story rn, bellarke are it for me. I’d say endgame but it could all change if there’s narrative to suggest otherwise. What I see happening by the end of the series is lexa being back (in what capacity idk) and either Clexa or Bellarke being party to the ‘I will love you forever but I will learn to love someone else so that we can chersish the relationship we have for what it is, not what it has been or what it could be, and be happy together forever’ while the other is canon endgame. Or maybe be by the series finale we’ll get endgame polygamy? - Now that’s edgy af! But those are best case scenarios lol.

Realistically, atleast one of BC are gonna die, Lexa will be brought back as Alycia but not into the real world (unless we get plot that finally exposes the mental space realm??? That sounds fucking dope tbh - they’ve been teasing alternate realities this whole damn show and what is more sci-fi than that? It would also incorporate the flame and Jason loves the flame and Clexa love the flame so??? Anyone wanna hire me as a writer?) and there’s endless possibilities really so I’m conflicted between hoping that Book 2 is less about tragedy/survival and more about happiness/life and knowing that hope for the 100 is offbrand and too much of a reach, with the evidence that we have but the writers could easily get us all there, man. I’m excited!
