Becoming less verbal while stressed but also becoming less verbal when you feel safe and comfortable
We deal with both. We can be stressed and become less verbal but for a lot of us we don't like speaking and when we can just be us, not have to talk, be able stim and use nonverbal communication.. It's amazing
We are like this way around close friends and our mental health team

One thing I will miss while working from home is the joy I get from having a monkey in my office.
Tumblr media
This guy makes me randomly happy, I'll just rise my eyes away from my screen to take a breath and see him in front of me. I'll get a happy stim just from this stupidly sweet good boy of a printed monkey.

When we moved the workplace we choose to decorate it as we work in a childhood sector and sell wall decor. As the designer I got to make the illustration but also have the most heavily decorated office (the desk is also cover with a design I made). I was also the only one working in this room, nobody complained about me putting my obsessions on my wall (monkey and cheetah print)
(I'm also sometimes payed to draw trains and I love it)

Initial OT assessment.
Bug is 6 years and 3 months.
Goals they suggested include becoming independent with ADLs, learning not to pocket food in cheek, developing a sensory diet.
I’m really looking forward to the sessions.
I learned that Bug might not understand that he can stop eating when he is full, instead of pocketing food in his cheek.
I learned that as far as sensory diet goes, his needs differ day by day. It can include weighted wrist bands, vests, ankle bands.
I am also glad that I looked plenty of things up beforehand. The OT did not use layman’s terms at all.
They mentioned ABA again.

Due to finding out about masking, and learning to unmask, it's like ALOT harder to not mask and keep all the "OMG SPARKLY I LOVE IT!!!! *Bounce bounce happy stim*"
And damn I- so much happy bounce spin stim energy today
Like and I used to act like this ALL the time!!!
Like I have memories of acting like that, and then I just stopped, people kept making fun of me or acting like I was a weirdo or treating me badly
So I stopped, sometimes it came out, and people would treat me badly.
But I did it today, and I couldn't stop it, and some vendors treated me like I was a weirdo but alot saw me grinning like an idiot and when I looked up they smiled at me and one called me cute and the friend I was with was nice about it and like
Idk maybe they were just being nice vendors but it felt nice to unmask and not get treated like I was a fuckwit

Just cried over how much I love inside out nobody understands how fucking happy this stupid ass movie makes me this is literally the happiest I've been in a long time... all over inside out 😭😭😭 people who hate on autistic or neurodivergent people for their "childish" special interests are pieces of shiit because the amount of autistic Joy (lmao) I get from the things that I love so passionately is worth all the backlash and taunting.

No autistic is the same, this needs to be repeated. We have ever changing needs.
It's hard not to compare yourself to others.
It's hard with imposter syndrome.
We are all different, and that's okay. We are all weird lil polygons/blobs living in this weird plain.

squealing about this boop function. I literally made a sound akin to a squeaky toy. it brings me much joy. the cat paws. the animation. oh. oh. joy. i've never felt such joy in my life. in the same vein,
cat fun facts! (cat pics at the end)
Cat whiskers are immensely sensitive, about as sensitive as human fingertips! Cats use their whiskers to feel things around them and their face. Cats can actually get a type of information overload, called whisker fatigue, from their whiskers touching too many things/being touched too often, which is why it is recommended to use wide, flatter feeding + water dishes for your cats, and to avoid touching their whiskers unnecessarily.
Cat Paws have 3 types of Beans (paw pads)! Digital, Metacarpal and Carpal pads. The metacarpal pad is located in the center of the paw, the digital pads are located upon their main four toes, and the carpal pad is located on the staff of the cat's paws/legs (often referred to as their thumbs!) They also have what is called a "dew claw", located on the inner side of the front paws (which is more like a thumb if you ask me.) Cats also usually have 18 toes, but many cats have more than just 18. (usually when dew claws are present on the back paws)
Cat Paw Pads are also absorbent of shock and sound, and can feel texture, pressure and temperature! It's important to make sure your fluffy friend's paw pads aren't overgrown with fur, as this can affect their grip and effectiveness. (Most cats can do this themselves via grooming, but some cats can't!)
Cat's Ears have 36 muscles in the outer ear! (while we humans only have 6). They can rotate up to a full 180 degrees, helping cats pinpoint the location of sounds. Cats can amplify sound waves between 2,000 and 6,000 hertz, and can hear sounds up to 62 kHz, which is 1.6 octaves above humans, and 1 octave above that of a dog. Cats are wonderful creatures! We're very lucky to have them as our companions. If you have a fluffy friend, give 'em a lil pat for me, for being such an amazing creature. And, as a treat, here are some of my fluffy friends. (1 and 2) The late Ms. Mojo Catface, (grey cat in 3,4,5,6) Mr. Spyro Needlepaw and (black cat in 3,5,7) Kitka Meowski, The Russian Queen of Day Drinking Vodka.

here’s your daily reminder that cringe culture is dead.
read/write fanfic, identify as xenogender, use neopronouns, have a complex gender identity, get completely obsessed with things, stim noticeably, kin characters, watch kid’s shows, draw fan art, wear funky earrings, and enjoy what you do.
(is this post mostly just for reassuring myself? yes, yes it is)
