Disjunctive Polarity
We’ve had about twenty storms this season, and they’ve all been different. Today, I’m staring out a window as grey clouds pass by at an unnatural speed. Gusts of wind blow limbs and leaves sideways, and wind chimes ring an alarm, a constant roar and rush like a head full of thoughts. Trees yaw and bend but hold fast. Our local ravens fly into the breeze, dive, and chase with what looks like pure joy. And another is making a chattering sound like a heavy rattle, a distinctive sign of spring.
This storm, as most have been, is coming from the south and bringing warm, damp air, a tropical feeling we don’t often get here on the central coast. There’s something about the ocean during a storm that pulls on me like a magnet. Dark clouds and a choppy surface give it a deep-grey moody feel, cold and voracious, and magnificent in its display. Yesterday, a clear sky with a wind-rippled surface seemed to reflect a fathomless-blue feeling in the ocean, mysterious and enigmatic. Now the rain is falling again. There’s something gratifying about the wildness of these storms, the wailing, ripping, and shaking, like an eternal thirst finally being quenched.

This 1952 Craftsman-inspired home in Pacific Palisades, California is absolute perfection. 5bds, 4ba, $9.6M.
Look at that railing on the stairs, it has to have been custom made. I wonder if the statue conveys (probably not).
To the right of the entrance hall is this lovely sitting room. They seem to have a study in here, but it's a flexible space.
Such a pretty dining room- the light fixture is perfect and I love the wall border.
The wood in this kitchen is more authentic than some renovated authentic Craftsman homes we've seen. The cabinets are just beautiful.
The eat-in kitchen has a lovely dining area- look at the ceiling detail. So much storage, too.
Isn't this pretty?
The layout is very modern - there's a family room/kitchen combo.
Whomever buys this home will get a home office with built-ins. Love the wallpaper in here, it almost looks like leather.
Tiled shower room has a vintage pedestal sink.
The large primary bedroom has a wonderful private terrace with a view.
Lovely en-suite.
Even this secondary bedroom is beautiful. Aren't those window coverings unusual?
This bedroom also has a beautiful en-suite.
Light and bright children's room.
What a wonderful weeping willow tree in the pretty yard.

Another renovation of a residential lot from Sunset Valley, once known as Asilomar and owned by the Single Moms Family. This home is heavily influenced by them, particularly the McIrish family, where I've integrated a few Irish elements into the interior design, such as earthy tones of greens, browns, and blues.

Additionally, I've utilized wood and stone textures both on the exterior and interior, creating a sense of warmth and depth.
This lot is base game compatible, so no expansion packs were used. It's a fully furnished house featuring three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen dining room, a living room with a fireplace, carport with two bike racks and a backyard with a small garden and ample space for children to play.
Inside Molly's room or the guest bedroom, I've included a crib and once her/the baby ages up to a child, a bunk bed can be placed in River's room or the second bedroom. There's also space in the house for baby items or toys if desired.
With the Single Moms Family having 70,319 in family funds, they'll be able to comfortably afford this house if you decide to place them here.
📣 Terrain paints will shift if a lot is rotated during placement and unfortunately even if I advise to avoid rotating it, The Sims 3 sometimes will not cooperate. I already set the front of the lots so hopefully that will help but if not then try to repaint it instead if you like.

Ecofinisher's crediting list for "Ecofinisher's Sims 4 BASE GAME file"
This is my game file with the ideas and dramas I have put up together to make it more…..interesting.
I’ve seen various Simmer do them, some created every little thing on their own, others did use gallery stuff or edit existing buildings and I did somewhat both. I’m not very talented with buildings and tend to download other places or just use the existing ones and change it up.
I am also quite used to play with the existing Sims or ones from the gallery and from hearing about this with the sharing of game files I thought about making one too. I don’t expect it to be perfect, but I could put my ideas on it. Normal and crazy ones (I’m pretty sure in-laws crushing on each other is crazy, right?)
This save was actually started back, when I had three other packs active and would use anything. Youtuber "savythatsimmer" mentioned something about, the lack of base game files, so I changed my mind and tried to use only base game stuff, but it was challenging to me to not accidentally pick them. Sometimes I read how to “deactivate them” and did so to facilitate my job to use base game content only. It might contain something from the Christmas pack, which I ACTUALLY did remove, but it keeps showing me, that I’m using an object from there when I’m not. It was either a glitch here or I couldn’t really find it, which is weird, cause most of the time it was about a bracelet. If anyone gets a notification about that pack missing, it won’t be a big chance like a shirt or something.

The difference between version 1 and 2 is only, that in the first I forgot to complete the summaries of the existing buildings.
If anything doesn’t work, feel free to tell.
The following listed buildings I used were created by other users and I will list them down here in case you’re interested to look for their original creator.
I do have also Sims I used from the gallery, mostly the ones based on Sims 2/3 characters. Mainly, because they looked better, than my own creations. (Althought the River McIrish one I made once was hot for a Sims 4 character xD But I wanted her to look closer to her, you know…..)

DISAPPOINTMENT
is inescapable but necessary; a misunderstood mercy and when approached properly, an agency for transformation and the hidden, underground, engine of trust and generosity in a human life. The attempt to create a life devoid of disappointment is the attempt to avoid the vulnerabilities that make the conversations of life real, moving, and life-like; it is the attempt to avoid our own necessary and merciful heartbreak. To be disappointed is to reassess our self and our inner world, and to be called to the larger foundational reality that lies beyond any false self we had only projected upon the outer world.
What we call disappointment may be just the first stage of our emancipation into the next greater pattern of existence. To be disappointed is to reappraise not only reality itself but our foundational relationship to the pattern of events, places and people that surround us, and which, until we were properly disappointed, we had misinterpreted and misunderstood; disappointment is the first, fruitful foundation of genuine heartbreak from which we risk ourselves in a marriage, in a work, in a friendship, or with life itself.
The measure of our courage is the measure of our willingness to embrace disappointment, to turn towards it rather than away, the understanding that every real conversation of life involves being heart broken somewhere along the way and that there is no sincere path we can follow where we will not be fully and immeasurably let down and brought to earth, and where what initially looks like a betrayal, is an invitation to a deeper friendship with the realities that underlie our life, disappointment asks us to put real ground under our feet.
The great question in disappointment is whether we allow it to bring us to ground, to a firmer sense of our self, a surer sense of our world, and what is good and possible for us in that world, or whether we experience it only as a wound that makes us retreat from further participation.
Disappointment is a friend to transformation, a call to both accuracy and generosity in the assessment of our self and others, a test of sincerity and a catalyst of resilience. Disappointment is just the initial meeting with the frontier of an evolving life, an invitation to reality, which we expected to be one particular way and turns out to be another, often something more difficult, more overwhelming and strangely, in the end, more rewarding.

god I miss walking along Lovers Point and Asilomar, hanging out in the plaza outside the Custom House, walking through downtown Monterey, going to that one little ice cream shop in Pacific Grove, exploring what the Barnyard had available, wrestling with faith and history and identity in the undeniably beautiful grounds of the Carmel Mission (formally the Mission San Carlos Borromeo de Carmelo - you can take the girl out of Catholicism etc.), going on picnics in the grounds and park tucked in the trees with my family, even the drive through Gilroy and other parts of the Santa Clara and Salinas valleys and farmland...
