The whole European swords vs Japanese Katanas is so dumb. We all know an Egyptian Khopesh is the coolest blade and that swords in general suck because of ✨armoured combat✨

A well balanced mace or a long spear are far better in combat than a blade only used to show others how much pussy they slay (because they can afford a bunch of sex from brothels) or to show that you are, in fact, are better than everyone else (samurai)

So, I can't afford full plate harness.

BUT...

I can afford, steadily, to equip plastic harness simulators.

So I guess I'm investing in this for the time being, to get some experience in harness without a plate harness.

Knight is in fact going to do some true knightly combat, soon.

What sort of medieval weapons relied on pure agility?

Agility played a part when using most weapons; armour might stop a blow but it was even better to dodge the blow entirely.

However, the answer to your question is (at a guess) knives and daggers. They were worn as part of daily attire which very seldom featured any armour *, so Not Getting Hit was even more important.

* There were some forms of concealed armour such as brigandines, jacks-of-plate etc. (jack = jacket), but IMO those would only be daily attire for people already expecting trouble, either a straightforward fight or an assassin's blade.

Anyone else would need to rely on agility, skill and, given the nature of knife / dagger fighting, a large helping of luck.

rewatched the second ep of the pjo show and like,,,, clarisse isn’t angry enough. or more like she’s too passive. her guttural scream at percy breaking the spear her father, whose recognition she’s desperate to gain, gave her made me think she was gonna lose her shit. like yeah there was always a possibility that her spear could be damaged or broken, but actually seeing it happen would’ve understandably left her enraged and likely blinded by grief. i honestly thought she’d just run at percy and use her fists, and have to be physically stopped/held back. but she just grabs percy, hears that there’s people coming, and leaves. i doubt she’d care abt others seeing her beat up the new kid since ares kids have a reputation for being angry/fighting/etc + her whole angry thing isn’t just bravado, she’s actually confrontational and can fight + she’s clearly upset and likely emotional abt the spear. really wish there’d been an actual clear reason for her to hold herself back, not just drop it out of nowhere

still cackling/crying about having invented an incredibly Autistic-Coded Alien (classic archetype) species in my sci fi LARP but nobody clocks this immediately because two of its most visible traits are

1. friendly and sociable

2. good at, and desirous of, ‘fitting in’/‘belonging’ socioculturally/as part of groups

Lors du redéploiement de la 1ère DCR de Gembloux (bataille de Gembloux) vers Flavion pour arrêter la progression des forces blindées allemandes, le char B1 bis VAR tombe en panne près d'Ermeton-sur-Biert le 14 mai 1940 à hauteur du pont de chemin de fer, à la sortie du village et est abandonné par son équipage. Des soldats allemands ont essayé de le faire repartir, mais sans système de direction, au premier virage venu, le char s'est encastré dans une maison d'Ermeton.

Armoured Core 6 Fires of Liberation

Some worldbuilding character designs for one of the factions of Thormundar, the futurist Hidden Sea. Figured that they’d have subdivisions based on different disciplines and that any of the races of Thormundar could join if they have the right aptitude.

Was existing today watching videos and thought of armour. Specifically, Heather and Billy donning armour. As per the ideals of fantasy girls got really... revealing pieces. Yeah Heather wasn't about that life and she is covered. Ready for battle no weaknesses.

Billy on the other hand thought it'd be hilarious to see how much he could get away with not wearing. Wanted to show off his assets.
