It's the most wonderful time of the year - baby praying mantis season!
I haven't posted any new photos in a month or so for reasons, not least that it's been fun to look through old pictures and give them another chance at love, or views, or whatever. But yesterday I spotted the first praying mantis babies of the season, and that calls for a change of pace. Shoot, I think it should be a holiday.
The earliest I have ever seen mantis babies here is April 14. So, April 21 is right on time. I found at least five individuals, and they are so tiny and well-camouflaged that it certainly means there are lots more I haven't seen.

I just impulsively filled out an adoption application for the most BEAUTIFUL tortoiseshell siamese, aptly named Zelda because the main marking on her forehead resembles a sword, and I’m really hoping I get to take her home 😭😭😭
#I explained that I’ll be moving to Texas within the next month and would love to bring her home once I get down there#she’s in Arizona so I offered to pay her adoption fee up front to hold her until I can come get her too#I just really hope they approve me for her adoption process so I can give her a loving home 🥺#I want that sweet baby SO fucking BAD 😭 every picture I see them post of her makes me fall in love with her even more ugh I need her lol

Arizona ☝️‼️ I dunno the design appeared in my head so I can’t really explain much of it other than me realizing I never really gave any designs dyed hair (other than Nj I think) so I figured Ari would cuz he wears that brightly colored hat and I’m sure the ring design is obvious that its based on the flag, also it’s copper cuz of the state nickname, iuuhhh I wasn’t sure what eye color to give him so it may change. Also the glove was cuz I figured why not since he pulled up with an oven mitt to not burn his hands off
Do you think they’d make a sizzle noise if these two touched?? I think so.
Btw I like to imagine Ari has pet ants. Because there are over 300 native species of ants found in Arizona and I think that’s really cool. Thoughts on this y’all???
