summary - you’re famous, he’s famous - your new relationship is out for criticism with the world to see. neither of you care. loose basis on ‘yes, and?’ by ariana grande.

the nightclub was hot, sweaty, and loud as you followed your boyfriend inside. his broad frame was your only view as he proceeded lightly pushing through the crowd in order to get to your reserved area holding your shared friends. his hand tightened in yours while bypassing through tight spaces and yours in his when odd people here and there got too close. his protective nature always had you tingly and warm, especially as his eyes would turn ever so often over his shoulder in order to check on you. the short eye contact that was shared also highlighted a smile from you both, an unspoken identifier of gentle comfort.
when reaching your shared group of friends in the vip section, your hands briefly separate for greetings and ‘hello’s’ as you pass through to the seating. his hand then finds yours again, just as it always does, and he pulls you towards him.
flashes are constantly seen when you both are out, separately and together, therefore having phones shoved around you both or in your direction is normal. both yours and lando’s manager had emphasized that pda would bring more criticism towards your relationship, but you both were so far off the deep end into your honeymoon phase you didn’t care.
lando’s fans didn’t like you because they believed they had a chance with him. or they preferred his exes. or they thought you were the reason he keeps not winning. your fans didn’t like lando because they liked your ex. or they believed you could do better. or they loved your single era.
either way, neither of your fans enjoyed the fresh relationship, but you and lando sure as hell did. you first met out at a club as he was in the dj booth and you were in your vip area. locked eyes and the rest was history. you left the club that night together, woke up in the same bed the next morning, and the internet caught it all. not that either of you minded, you were actually glad you didn’t have to go through the hoops of soft-launches and hiding from the public. within the next week you had joined lando for a race weekend and only stirred the pot further.
lando’s hand tugged you over to where max and pietra were sitting down on the couches. you said your hello’s and took a seat next to p, furthering your discussions.
lando lightly touches your shoulder in order to steal your attention, “sorry, love, i’m getting a drink, what’ll you have?” you give him your order and he taps his lips to your forehead as max and him begin to make their way to the bar.
“and how are you feeling, y/n?” p asks you. you raise your eyebrows at her question in order for her to expand as she adds on, “you know, the media and all,” she gestures with her hands to your surroundings, the plethora of people holding their phones onto either you or lando.
“oh that,” you shake off your confusion with laughter, “ya, i pay no mind to all that, having been in the public for a while or so now, i’m used to it by now,”
“right, i just hope it’s not affecting your relationship with lando, you know?” p offers to you with a genuine smile in concern.
“it won’t, we both don’t mind, it happened with his ex and mine, the main difference now is that we both don’t care and are used to it,” you shrug and make eye contact with your boyfriend and his friend approaching both you and p with your drinks. lando drops down into the seat next to you, as max takes the seat next to p and across from his best friend.
“thank you, love” you speak quietly to him, he hums in acceptance as he places his lips against your cheek.
“you’re welcome, baby, anytime,” you giggle at his response and he throws an arm over the back of your seat. you both thrived in your own little world, you were not planning on leaving each other or the honeymoon stage anytime soon, to hell with the public and media.
after a while at the club - lando heading over to hijack the dj booth, you and your girls having the time of your lives on the dance floor - your boyfriend saw your eyes drooping a bit lower than normal and he knew it was time for you both to head out. he made his way over to where you were swaying with your girls and gently tugged on your upper arm, pulling you into him. you stumbled a bit back into him but he held you upright, as he always does.
“c’mon, love,” he bends down to whisper into your ear, “let’s go home,” you smile up at him as he grabs your hand, beginning to make your goodbye’s and heading for the door.
lando had stopped drinking an hour or so ago, knowing he would drive you two back to his home. you, on the other hand, had a few. not enough where you were a mess, but enough where your brain and mouth were no longer connected and you easily said whatever came to mind. lando found your drunken honesty to be adorable, your manager and publicist hated it. it had gotten you into a few tabloids and made you topics of talk shows, but nothing major - all sort of hilarious in your opinion. your fans called it iconic, and you might believe it to be too.
“you ready?” lando turns around to ask you as you’ve reached the door. you peer quickly around his frame to see the paparazzi flooded at the entrance to the club.
one deep breath in and you nod at your boyfriend, him assuring you quickly with a brief kiss to your lips and a whispered ‘stay close’ as he holds your hand tighter to himself, pushing the door open subjecting you to the wide array of flashing lights.
“LANDO! OVER HERE!”
“Y/N Y/L/N HERE! GIVE US A SMILE!”
the paparazzi had been calling out to either of you as you both continued your walk to lando’s car and away from the club. you were a bit giggly at their questions and felt the need to say at least something to the group. as if lando could feel it, his head whipped back to check on you and it shook with a slight implication of ‘don’t do it’. you just gave him a wide smile in return.
“Y/N! Y/N! WHAT IS YOUR RESPONSE TO FANS CALLING YOUR RELATIONSHIP A PR STUNT?!”
you laugh at the question and turn around, “IT’S NOT!” you yell back with a giggle. the paparazzi surrounding you all laugh as well at your response. you continue to walk backwards facing the group, inviting them to keep following and asking.
“HOW DO YOU RESPOND TO PEOPLE SAYING YOU MOVED ON TOO FAST?!” another man with a camera yells towards you.
“I DIDN’T! I LOVE HIM!” you shout back with another echo of laughs, lando looks down at you with amusement as he pulls you closer to him and opens the passenger side door of his car for you. he leads you into the car and the paparazzi still swarms around.
“YOU LOVE A NO WINS RACE CAR DRIVER?” a pap asks quickly as lando is beginning to shut your door.
you roll the window down and look into the man’s eye, “yes, and?”
your business is yours and mine is mine, why do you care so much whose d*ck i ride?

Astrology observations part 7 🪽
- I have said Leo are selfish but I have to mention how awfully selfish is 1st house sun or Aries rising are.
- Cancer sun with Taurus Venus is something I don’t see often but they are beautiful and caring individuals that give the best presents ever. (Ex: Ariana grande)
I have also noticed that cancer with earth placements tend to like softer aesthetics and colours. Like white and pastels ✨
- cancer with Leo Venus/mars makes someone really need for word affirmations. " you are amazing" "you are so talented".
- between the fire signs Leo and Aries would come from each others throats. Sagittarius is planning a trip or joining in new cult.
- Aquarius moon might have issue with bossy mothers.
- Pisces mothers either will be amazing and sooo caring or they will be emotionally needy and put pressure on their kids.
- mutable signs or air dominant people have learning difficulties (my dad and mom are Gemini and both have dyslexia. I got it as well����🏻 ofc it’s genetics but It’s not coincidence I’m Pisces and I’m air dominant)
- Leo placements watch theirs own stories or whatever they upload like they are in love with themselves. Their own stalkers 💀

I don't have any feelings towards Ari Hauntington as a doll as she's more so a nothing burger to me in how she replaced Spectra rather than did anything drastic with being a new character in G2, as opposed to Silvi or Moanica.
But after working on Moanica and Silvi, I wanted to revisit Ari Hauntington and give her a new look, as there is potential in a popstar ghost character, and I wanted her to look as different to Spectra as possible.
Of course, after wiping Ari, I was surprised at what a nice sculpt was lurking underneath and how much it looked like 2015-era Ariana Grande. So I leaned heavily into that inspiration and gave her glam makeup and more defined features. I also wanted to bring back the spooky ghost eye element that G1 Spectra had so her sclera is a desaturated form of her hair colour.
I also leaned towards pinky-toned purples rather than cool tones to also make her as distinct from Spectra as possible.
Ari Hauntington might not be the most popular, but I'm glad to make her more G1 for my collection...

— amara doesn’t think she had ever heard truer words.
somehow the minute taraji imani had entered the parisian apartment, she sensed the change on her daughter. it started with the apartment where between the smell of cinnamon and vanilla, she also picked up faints of a manly perfume. the hoodie that was thrown over the white couch was her next clue because she instantly remarked that it did not belong to her daughter. she wasn’t saying this in a way of proving she was very controlling but instead the size of the hoodie made it clear that it was not amara’s.
the biggest clue though was her daughter herself. the moment the door had been opened and she had faced amara, she could see that something was different. the last time amara had seen her parents, it had been with tears rolling down her face, dull, swollen eyes from all the crying and forced smiles — a clear contrast to what taraji had been met with now. amara had a soft smile on her face when she had let her mother enter the apartment, no sign of any tear or make-up to, perhaps even cover eye rings or any swelling.
taraji’s eyes travelled over the apartment since it was her first time she had visited her daughter in paris. the apartment itself was beautiful, she had to admit. the beige decor along with the simplistic and modern decor gave the apartment a feel of comfort that spread the minute one stepped in.
“you cannot tell me that you did this yourself,” she exclaimed, a sharp look of scepticism sent into amara’s direction.
“mama, i did this all by myself with some help of liyah and grace when they weren’t busy.” she explained, smiling cheekily.
“well, it looks good. i’m proud of you.” her mother replied, sitting down on the couch. amara took place on the small armchair opposed to her, grabbing her phone, pen and song-notebook. “so tell me now, what have you been planning? the last time we spoke, you told me you had a project going.”
taraji noticed the change even more when a sudden excited expression appeared on her daughter’s face just at the mention of the planned project.
“i am working on some songs. i’m ready to go back into the spotlight again, i had my time and rest but like you said. i need healing from all this. ma ị mara m, usoro ọgwụgwọ m gụnyere ide abụ na hapụ mmetụta m.” — and you know me, my healing process consists of writing songs and release my feelings
“is that why you’re glowing so positively and shining?” her mother exclaimed, eyes sparkling with delight. it warmed her heart to see her daughter so alive and spirited again, remembering the way she had looked like the last time. a walking corpse. now she was spreading life and vividness.
amara tried to hide her smile, managing to chuckle at least. “what exactly are you taking about?” she questioned her mother confusingly.

the laugh that escaped amara’s laugh was enough to prove her mother’s statement. taraji had no idea of the feeling of joy that surged in her heart.
amara waved dismissively. “let’s just say, paris has been good to me and allowed me to make the significant changes that were necessary. and it also gave me inspiration.”
her mother’s eyes sparkled with curiosity. she watched as amara scribbled down in her notebook, face scrunching up in concentration as she wrote down some words. she was also able to see the sparkle that had been lit again — the very thing that had helped her become herself.
“i am just glad that this Phase with evan is over. i never really liked that guy.” she muttered under her breath, her distaste and disgust clear in her voice.
“should’ve listened to you,” she replied nonchalantly, shrugging. “i finally saw his true colours, just sad that it took me nearly two years.”
“weren’t you friends with the new girl he’s dating?”
“kaia gerber?” she inquired, arching an eyebrow. “nope. we met once, at a fashion show and talked but we weren’t friends. i’m happy she’s dating him, maybe two nepo babies will cancel each other out.”
she put her notebook down and stood up, walking towards the kitchen. “i made chocolate cake knowing you love it so much. do want a piece now or later?”
“is it with chocolate pieces?” her mother asked to which amara nodded, “then yes please, a piece would be nice, ada.”
she entered the kitchen, coming out a few minutes later with two pieces of homemade chocolate cake. as she sat down, the vibration of her phone made her look up, especially because it was the one she had programmed to ring when kylian texted her.
just at the thought of him, a smile plastered on her face which did not go unnoticed by taraji. her smile widened even more as she read the french’s strikers message, grinning widely.
“so this is why you’re so happy lately i assume?” her mother inquired, smirking slyly at her daughter.
as if she was caught at a crime scene, amara rapidly put down her phone, staring at her mother. “amaghị m ihe ị na-ekwu” — i do not know what you’re talking about
“ị chere na a mụrụ m ụnyaahụ?” she retorted incredulously at amara’s attempt to lie. “m na-amụkwa ọnụ ọchị otú ahụ n'ihi nna gị” — do you think I was born yesterday?
— i used to smile like that because of your father
amara rolled her eyes, still grinning. “i will admit that there is someone but i can guarantee you there is nothing going on between us. we’re taking it slow.”
“taking it slow?” taraji asked, arching an eyebrow.
“yes. mainly because i am not ready to move forward yet with all this drama going around.”
her mother's eyes softened, filled with both empathy and relief. “it is already a step forward that you know your feelings about yourself. but sweetheart, if you like him, go for him. love doesn’t mean marriage directly. you have time, ada to work things out. if he is able to instantly make you smile like that, he must be someone important.”
“i do feel a lot for him but i don’t want to rush into anything. but i like him. a lot. probably the best thing in paris.” she confessed, smiling shyly.
seeing amara like that made taraji’s heart warm. her daughter was truly in love, even a blind man could see that. the shy smiles were all that the nigerian mother needed to realize that her daughter was in deep.
the two had always been close. even though amara had a special bond with her father, created through watching football and formula 1 together, her mother had always stayed her best friend. especially because taraji had been so young when she had had amara. no one knew her better than her mother, was able to read her like her mother. she would always stay her favourite person.
“i am so proud of you. you deserve someone who cherishes you and respects you. who doesn’t put you first but lets you stay there... and i have a feeling this one might be the one for you.” taraji added when she saw amara grin at her phone again.
“i hope he’s the one too.” she muttered, losing herself in her notebook and thoughts as she listened to her mother.
she wasn’t as productive with the impending album as she had hoped with her mother visiting but she was still determined to finish the songs and at least have some work done that she could be proud of at the end of the day.
on the other side, kylian wasn’t any better. while usually his mind was focused clearly on correcting his mistakes from their latest match and getting better, this time all his thoughts circled around amara. stretching his arms, the french striker walked out the changing rooms, rejoining his team mates on the field. he was still smiling when he joined the group of his teammates that were wearing orange tees, his mind still thinking about the conversation he just had with amara. and it didn’t go unnoticed by his teammates.
“oh kylian,” presnel called him, ripping him out of his thoughts. “what’s got you smiling like that?” he questioned his friend, the others all looking at him expectantly.
startled, kylian turned to his teammate, grinning from ear to ear. “nothing. arrête de t’imaginer des choses.” he replied playfully, shrugging off their curiosity. — stop imagining things
“ca fait quand même longtemps qu’on t’a plus vu comme ça.” presnel pressed on the top. he playfully put an arm on kylian’s shoulder, “come on, you can tell tonton presko everything.” — but it’s been some time that we haven’t seen you like this
kylian laughed, shrugging his teammate’s arm off and grabbed a ball, starting with the exercises they were ordered to do.
however he couldn’t escape everyone. he had been able to dodge presnel, marco and hakimi but neymar wouldn’t make it that easy for him. the brazilian star found his opportunity to lead his own interrogation during a pair exercise, where he immediately partnered with kylian. a mischievous sparkle in his eye, he asked his friend, “so… now wanna tell me what made you smile like that?”
“i already told presnel that there —“
he instantly cut him off, raising his eyebrow in scepticism. “cut the bullshit kyky. maybe you can lie to them but you can’t lie to me. so tell me the reason for your constant good mood.”
catching neymar’s gaze, he knew he was right so kylian decided that confiding into one person wouldn’t hurt much. “well, there is someone but we’re only friends.” he confessed, adding the last part quickly when he saw neymar’s smirk.
“just friends?” he inquired.
“yes, for the moment we’re just friends. but even if i wanted something more, i already told her i would wait till she was ready for more.” he revealed in hushed tones. “but don’t you dare tell a soul or i’ll sell you,” kylian threatened him jokingly, referring to the rumour that had been going on where he had apparently had the intention of selling his best friend.
rolling his eyes, he brazilian nr. 10 replied dismissively. “don’t worry about that bro. i got your back. now tell me more and why did you promise her, you’d wait.”
kylian sighed, passing him the ball lightly to at least act as if they were doing some work. “we’ve known each other now for a few months but whenever we go one step forward, she somehow takes three steps back the next time. and i have nothing against waiting but i just want to know where we truly stand. the mixed signals are confusing me.” he revealed, in addition to his confession that her presence was the best thing in those past months.
“is she some kind of virgin and this is her first relationship or what do you mean by steps forward?” neymar asked him after having listened intently.
he shook his hand, a sharp glare sent into his friend’s direction. “she just came from a relationship that, let’s say, did not end so good. in fact, it was terrible and she is still fixing some things but also the fact that she’s very insecure now. it kind of makes all this complicated.”
“in that case, what you need to do is talk to her. how often do you speak or see her?”
“three to four times a week but we text each other nearly everyday except when she’s busy.”
“there you have it. text her and talk to her about it. not that you want to move forward but that you want to know where you stand. but still, you’ll have to give her time and not rush her if you’re saying that she’s still so fragile.” he advised, patting him on the back. “has she already opened up?” kylian nodded, making a grin appear on his friend’s face. “there you have it. she’s ready for a step forward and maybe a relationship with you. just let time do it’s thing.”
keeping neymar’s advice in mind, kylian focused again on training, finishing the exercises they told to do. he was grateful for the advice he had been giving, realizing that pressuring her wouldn’t help either. he would’ve asked her earlier how exactly things stood between them but she had practically refused to see him yesterday, knowing they had come back late from their away match. but he had to see her today.
after finishing his shower and getting dressed, the french striker grabbed his phone, impatient to call her. he changed his mind though, deciding to text her instead of calling as he still wanted to keep amara to himself. he wasn’t ready to share her with his world yet.

a wide smile formed on his lips as he read her message. he grabbed his back and bid his friends goodbye, not missing the wink neymar had sent him as he made his way over to amara. the woman that would be the death of him. but if he died, he'd at least die a happy man.
a feeling of deep comfort spread through the room when amara lit some cinnamon candles and placed them on the coffee table in front of her. the talk with her mother felt good, the feeling of having someone who always supported her. words couldn’t describe her luck. she sat down on the couch, enjoying her moment of comfort and peace.
from the kitchen out, she was able to smell the chocolate cake and apple tart she had just baked. the latter had been for kylian who had just come back from an away match and had been a bit displeased and moody at the fact that amara couldn’t come see him. of course he had understood, knowing in which situation the singer found herself in but still he could not get himself to not be a bit disappointed about her lack of presence. text messages and calls could only replace that much. so amara had thought of surprising him with his favorite cake, not knowing that she would be the one to be surprised.
sitting comfortably on the couch, she grabbed her phone, checking for any unread messages or missed calls. she had already finished talking with grace about her upcoming album. truthfully, in the beginning the idea had been to just release some songs but the more time she had spent with kylian the more inspiration she had gotten. in the end, she found herself with enough songs to make a whole album and after a lot of insisting from grace, who had also called liyah as back-up, amara had surrendered and agreed to make an album. now it was just a question of who would be on it and who wouldn’t.
she pulled her legs close while closing the messenger app and opening a book she had recently started. her self-ordered quarantine had given her lots of time and she was bent on using it for things she hadn’t had much time for. next to painting and songwriting, reading was definitely on the list and she planned on making it her hobby again. indulging in the quiet and solitude she was experiencing currently, she made herself comfortable on the couch and rapidly started to read her book from the spot she had stopped the last time.
she had lost track of time when the locks on the door turned and kylian entered the apartment, his sports bag hanging loosely on his shoulder. dressed in a white t-shirt, that practically made his ab lines visible for everyone and a pair of blue loose jeans, amara had difficulties to draw her eyes from his stomach. what stood out most though was the thing he was holding in his right hand, which he had pulled behind his back to hide whatever he had in hand. he put her house keys on the hooks, aligned at the wall before he finally entered the living room, where she was waiting patiently for him.
immediately at the sight of her, his lips formed a curve, the two small dips making their appearance again and filling amara’s stomach with butterflies. “hey ky,” amara greeted him. standing up to hug the french striker, she pressed a soft kiss on his cheek, inhaling the scent she had grown so used to having around her.
“salut ma belle,” he mumbled into her hair, pulling her closer. at the sound of her nickname, feelings of excitement rushed through her, still getting flustered whenever kylian used that name for her. originally, his nickname had firstly been ‘mara’ since her short name didn’t leave much creativity for nicknames but he had once called her ma belle and amara had had a shock reaction, spilling her drink on him. of course this had been so funny to him he had given her the name again and it had stuck much to her dismay. -- hello, my beautiful
“congratulations for the win,” she exclaimed happily. even though she hadn’t been at the match, she had watched it from her couch, cheering loudly when paris scored. “your goal was beautiful. i probably woke the neighbours with my screams.”
he laughed at her confession, knowing exactly what she must have looked like. after all, he had watched a liverpool game once with her and she had probably broken his eardrums whenever the reds had scored. “thanks. it’s a shame that my biggest supporter couldn’t come to see the goals live.”
amara rolled her eyes, knowing exactly what he was hinting at. “kylian, i already explained to you why i wasn’t able to come,” she objected, her voice still bright, “but i have a surprise for you.”
she turned, ready to go into the kitchen to get his cake but he grabbed her hand to stop her. looking at him with a confused expression, she watched as kylian held up his hand and then pulled out his right hand from his back, a huge bouquet of flowers appearing in his hand. the rose and white flowers were clearly a contrast to him but amara had never seen anything more beautiful than this.
the confused expression was immediately exchanged, replaced by a soft one and made a smile appear on her face; a genuine one that only happened to come out when kylian was there.
“omg, you didn’t have to,” amara gushed, happiness clear in her face. she happily accepted the bouquet of pink peonies and white lilies, a huge smile spreading on her face when she leaned down and smelled the scent of the flowers. “these are so beautiful.”
“je savais que tu devrais les adorer.” he replied, matching amara’s enthusiasm. just seeing the way she smiled and was genuinely happy was able to put a smile on his face. but he also wondered what her relationship with evan must have truly been like if she was this happy for something that should be self-evident in a relationship. — i knew you’d love them
he probably would never know that this was the first time she had ever received flowers because someone had genuinely meant to get her some. amara always had to force evan to buy her some flowers and even then it had only been on valentines day as he deemed flowers as unnecessary. it was a shock for her that someone thought of her as important to bring her flowers.
she delicately affirmed her grip around the bouquet, her eyes already looking for a spot where she could put the flowers and see them immediately. “where did you even get them?”
he waved dismissively. “i passed a flower shop on the way to you and saw them in the shop window. they reminded me of you so i had to get them.” he admitted, and again amara was glad, her skin colour made it impossible for her to blush.
“why are you so perfect?” she asked rhetorically. grinning at him. “now my surprise is nothing compared to yours.”
“anything you do is perfect in my eyes.” kylian assured her, lovestruck expression clear. “come on, tell me, what did you prepare?”
with a playful glint in her eyes, she grabbed his hand and led him to the kitchen. “close your eyes,” she ordered him, excitement clear in her voice. he did as ordered, his face scrunching up when he heard the sound of the refrigerator open and close and metal, whose sound resembles a lot to the one of a knife. “you can open them now.”
kylian’s eyes opened and he was instantly faced by a grinning amara, where kylian feared her face would break soon from all the smiling and a cake in her hand, more specifically a pie and not just any pie. the apple pie he had seen once on tv at her apartment and had told amara, he would die to eat one. immediately, his confused expression changed, joining amara on her happy one.
“you actually made me apple pie?”
she nodded happily, holding out a fork. “i tried my best to make it like the one on tv but i can’t guarantee anything.”
“now it’s my turn to say, you didn’t have to.” he replied, grinning. he took a bite of the cake, his senses exploding when the taste reached his tongue. originally, he hadn’t even liked the cake that much, he had just wanted to eat apple cake at that moment but now whatever he had seen on tv, it would never match hers. screw that, he would never ever eat another apple cake again if it wasn’t hers.
amara shrugged dismissively. “you brought me my favorite wine and flowers and so many other things. consider this as something from me.”
again, kylian felt this unclear signal from her. what did she feel for him? was she ready to take this step forward or would they forever stay in this situation, this fine line between friendship and love. a line so thin, even kylian wasn’t able to differentiate between their friendship and feelings. he recalled his conversation with neymar, knowing that he couldn’t avoid talking to her about his feelings.
“amara, you need to tell me where we stand.” he began. “you know i would wait for the world but i need to know where we stand. this is clearly not a friendship anymore but what exactly are we? where exactly are we moving?”
her heart fell as she listened to kylian. it had never been her intention to make him feel like that, she had thought it was clear that she wasn’t ready but still loved him. and yet, here he stood, asking after a clear statement from her because he was getting confused.
would she tell him to continue to wait? continue to hide behind her fears and insecurities — if anything she should have learned by now that she didn’t have to be afraid of anything with kylian. maybe her mind still had some difficulties at accepting that kylian would not be like Evan but her heart certainly had not.
since that night where they had talked for hours in the bathroom, it was clear that her heart beat for him. that he had somehow broken the shell of grief around it and had replaced it with a coat of fire. his fire, that protected her heart.
truthfully, what was she waiting for, amara asked herself. grace, liyah, even her mother had advised her that men like him only came once in a lifetime. that she shouldn’t string him along. she recalled her mother’s word, “if you like him, go for him. love doesn’t mean marriage directly. you have time, ada.” — she was done hiding behind an invisible wall that had already too many cracks,
she walked slowly towards him, kylian still looking at her with an expectant expression and grabbed his hands slowly, intertwining them which seemed to have taken him by surprise.
“kylian,” amara whispered softly, her voice sounding faintly through the room. her eyes looked through his, losing themselves immediately in his dark brown irises, that could read amara better than herself sometimes. “i’m ready. i wanna take a path forward.” she told him under her breath, the distance between their faces lessening with every word she spoke. “but only if you want me.”
time held still as the two lovers stared into each other’s eyes, losing themselves quickly in them and drawing out their surroundings. all that mattered, was the other. he had waited for this moment, patiently counted the time that she would need to heal. and he had been ready to wait even more after his talk with neymar. but nonetheless, he didn’t need to be asked twice to answer her question.
his hand grabbed her face delicately, one hand on each cheek and he leaned down towards her face, close enough to her amara’s heartbeat quickening. his eyes wandered down from her brown, honey like eyes to her lips, his ears catching amara’s shaky yet composed breath. was he about to make a mistake? maybe. was it all worth it because he finally had the girl he loved? definitely. he knew that the moment, amara had moved her hands to his neck, to crane it and pull it down a bit because of their height difference, he just had to kiss her.
and so he did. his lips briefly hovered over hers before he finally pressed his lips on hers. it was a soft kiss but full of tenderness, love and care that had built up during the growth of their relationship. her mind went blank at the sensations, hundred different thoughts and feelings rushing through her body. whatever she had felt the first time he had kissed her, even though it had only been on the cheek was intensified by ten.
kylian indulged in amara’s scent; the scent of vanilla filled his nose and the taste of cherry chapstick and chocolate drove his mind crazy. it was a hundred times better than all his imaginations he had had of this moment. her lips were soft, pillow-like — perfectly made for his.
“this is better than last time,” amara whispered between their lips, breathing heavily.
“je t’avais promis une expérience inoubliable,” kylian replied, his hot breath sending tingles through her body. — i did promise you an unforgettable experience
amara wrapped her hand around his neck tighter, placing her lips on his again. the amount of happy hormones that rushed through her body, made her close her eyes in satisfaction and adrenaline rushed through her entire body. the gentle kiss soon turned into a kiss full of passion and desire, their feelings of love and care exploding. all the thoughts they had held back, feelings they hadn’t shared were coming out and were added to their kiss.
another set of minutes passed before the two lovers finally detached from each other. both took heavy breaths, still startled from their heavy kissing seance. amara still felt her body vibrating, tingles still rushing through her. and it was the same for kylian, who also hadn’t been left unbothered from the kiss. they looked at each other, sharing a glance before bursting out in giggles.
“this was…” amara began first, trailing off to find a matching word that was worthy enough to describe what had just happened. “amazing. more than that.”
“this was just a foretaste,” kylian retorted, a smirk dancing on his lips, “there’s much more.”
intrigued, she crossed her arms. “really? then tell me, monsieur mbappé, what else is included in your dating package?”
“where do i even begin? let me just say that being with me is like winning the lottery. firstly, we have tons of kisses, whenever you want,” he began, pressing another soft kiss on her lips slyly, “then we have cuddles and guaranteed spooning.” he added, amusement becoming clear on amara’s face. “not to forget the shared clothes. with me, you also get a life supply of hoodies and sweatshirts along with psg tickets to every game—
“i’ll remind you that i’m a proud red,” she cut in, laughing.
“nevermind that, you’ll also get natural attention and unpredictable dating nights. there won’t be a week where you won’t see this beauty of a face. and let’s not forget the free massages and meals that comes with me.” he went on.
she looked at him sceptically. “i do not know if i ever want you in my kitchen again.”
his expression changed to shock as he put a hand on his hand, faking his offence. “i can’t believe you’re still holding me to that after i cooked that delicious meal for you the last time. and that just because i burned pasta and popcorn once.”
she waved dismissively. “you’re saying that as if you didn’t nearly put my kitchen on fire. but what else can i expect?”
“also you’ll be able to profit from this beautiful greek god of a body— and don’t look at me like that, i heard you say this about me on the ph9ne,” he added quickly when he saw amara open her mouth. she closed it quickly, thanking any higher power again that she was blessed with the inability to blush. “but let’s be honest, these abs are a true gift. now you won’t have to be embarrassed again when you’re caught staring at them.”
he watched as she put a hand on her forehead, facepalming, making him immediately laugh.
“but,” he trailed off, holding a finger up. “i haven’t even got to the best part. no boredom. you’ll never get bored with me. tu ne vas même plus connaître le mot l’ennui. we’ll have impromptu dance parties in the kitchen and we can continue our tradition of watching shitty 2000s rom-coms. believe me, it’ll be a blast.” — you won’t even know the word boredom anymore
“you said two,” amara commented, her cheeks starting to hurt from all the smiling. “what’s the other best advantage?”
he walked closer to her, mischievous glint in her eyes. “the last advantage,” kylian began, positioning himself behind amara and putting his arms under hers. “endless tickling.” he stated, launching a sneaky attack of tickles on her sides. he began at her sides, tickling her everywhere on her hips and stomach. she let out a scream, surprised by his sudden attack replacing it quickly with a happy expression.
the air filled with joyous sounds and laughs as amara tried to escape his hands, squirming and shaking. in the end she managed to squirm enough against kylian’s muscular body, making the two lose their balance and fall onto the sofa where amara used the small moment of shock from kylian to escape from his hands.
breathlessly, she turned to look at the french striker. “c'était nécessaire?” she demanded, hand over her chest to calm herself down and slow down her heartbeat. — was this necessary
kylian flashed her a smile, teeth shining brightly. “it’s part of dating me.” he replied cheekily.
“how the heck were you single when we met?” amara asked dumbfounded. “i wish evan would have done half of that for me.”
“let’s never talk of that asshole again, shall we? you’ll get the true experiment of love now. my mother did not raise an idiot when it comes to women.”
she nodded, snuggling closer to him to be able to lean her head on his shoulder. “so… what are we then if we’re talking about the experience of dating you?” amara asked him, as she traced the visible lines of his abs through his shirt.
he shrugged, not truly knowing how to answer her. he didn’t know what exactly she wanted them to be. what did she want to hear? “i don’t know. you know what i want.” he told her, turning to face her. “je veux t’aimer,” he mumbled, pressing a kiss on her temple, “i want to call you mine,” another kiss, this time just a bit above her earlobe. “je veux être la personne à qui appartient ton cœur.” a soft giggle escaped her lips as kylian held up their intertwined hands and pressed a delicate kiss on the back of her hand. — i want to love you
amara chuckled, snuggling even closer into his chest. the warmth of his body spread immediately to hers, creating a deeper sense of comfort. “i want the same.” she replied softly, playing with the hem of his shirt with her free hand. “but i’m gonna be truthful and admit that i’m a bit scared,” she confessed, “and i love you and love is about compromise and making efforts to meet the other. we’re in this together. i kept you waiting long enough.”
“you’ll never have to be scared with me. we’re taking one step at the time.” he stated, his gentle voice extending the comfort, “for now, we’re just dating. seeing where the wind takes us going with time. we don’t have to rush, we have all the time of the world.”
she nodded, happy and satisfied with his response. he understood her reluctance and didn’t pressure her, he was happy to go slow despite being clear about his intentions and knowing she was just insecure with the whole dating scene, especially dating another public person.
she detached herself from his embrace, and leaned forward to grab the plate with the chocolate cake she had made. the apple tart had been finished quickly and the two had then taken on the chocolate cake, eating the remains of what was left from her afternoon with her mother. with her free hand, she lifted kylian’s arms again, pulling it over her chest again to feel his warmth. his hand travelled down to her waist, resting there to pull her closer if he needed to.
“i should have made more,” amara muttered under her breath, watching kylian eat the chocolate cake like it would be the last cake of his life. she reached forward, wanting to grab a piece but her hand was swiftly removed by kylian, nudging it lightly to signify her to back up. “hey, i made this cake.”
“but you already had some while i was away. soit gentil,” he stated before taking another bite of the cake.
she pointed her finger at him. faking an expression of anger, “i’ll have you know that you ate a whole apple tart against your nutrition trainer’s introductions. at least cut him some slack and h9ld back for the chocolate. i could use some.”
“if you want it so badly…,” he trailed off at the end of his sentence, taking a small piece and bringing it slowly to her mouth. but seconds before she could finally taste the heaven of chocolate she had baked, he intentionally failed her mouth, leading to her having a small spot of chocolate next to her lip.
“je te jure,” she swore under her breath, grabbing the piece of cake by herself and eating it, not without showering kylian in cold stares and glares. the french striker though had an amused expression on his face, that grew even wider when he saw her sour one. — I swear
“let me remove it,” he said to her, fighting an impending laugh flash. he placed his finger on her cheek to brush away the chocolate he had smeared on her face and then all of sudden leaned forward, stealing a soft kiss which made amara shriek out of shock.
“kylian!” amara exclaimed amusingly, not even needing to look at the star footballer to know that he was grinning. probably like an idiot, amara thought
his grin spread wider, smiling from ear to ear as he shrugged. “couldn’t help it.”
she rolled her eyes, smirking at him. “si tu voulais m’embrasser, t’auras just à me demander.” — if you wanted to kiss me, all you had to do was ask
“amara, may i kiss you?” he retorted exasperatedly, holding onto her hand. she nodded, a cheeky expression appearing on her face and smiled when kylian placed his lips on hers again.
she found it funny the way he was just as addicted as her. once they had gotten a taste of what it felt like to kiss each other, they didn’t want to stop. they wanted to indulge into that feeling of wonder and desire, never let go of it again.
“i could kiss you for hours,” kylian whispered against her lips, making a giggle escape amara’s lips.
“i feel the same but let’s not be the kind of person who only know each other's lips. we’re not gonna be those couples who are constantly making out with each other.”
kylian shrugged, “i mean we could,” he began but shrunk down once he saw amara’s eyebrow raise, “but yeah, on n’est pas comme ça.”
— we’re not like that
pleased with his answer, amara placed the dirty dish out of her lap to be able to move into a more comfortable position. she laid her face on his chest, continuing to trace his ab lines as he played with a few of her loose curls that weren’t tied into her ponytail.
it was calm, the only sound being their heart that pumped in a perfect rhythm. amara cherished moments like this, when it was just the two of them with nothing else going on.
“so how’s the music going?” he asked quietly, disrupting the silence around them. amara shrugged dismissively, too focused on the lines that were visible though his white shirt. they should forbid some people to wear those, she thought in her head.
“it’s going well. recorded a few song with grace & hudson but not finished yet. and we’re still looking for some collaboration but, you know, with my reputation could become a bit hard.”
“can’t you just call someone, like i don’t know, travis scott and tell him you want him on your song?” he asked innocently, in an ironic tone.
amara sighed, looking incredulously at him. “can’t you just call a club and tell them you want their player or why do transfers take so long?” she shot back in the same tone. “collaboration may sound easy but they’re not. you pay artists to collaborate with you. i paid a quarter million to have drake on ‘mine’ and even that was only because grace had some negotiations with him. sadly it’s not that easy.” she explained to him patiently.
nonetheless her annoyance about her situation, she shrugged dismissively. “anyway, i called a good friend of mine and we talked and i send her the song to see if maybe as a favor she would be on it. and now i just wait.”
“well, i still haven’t gotten my song yet. remember, the you promised me so much.” he teased her making her snort.
“and you’ll have to wait till i finish my project.” she replied in a firm tone, signalling him that she was done with the topic. she found the way he was excited for his song extremely funny — if only he knew that she was currently dedicating a whole album to him instead of just one song. an album that portrayed every single step and moment He between them.
he groaned, a his lips scrunching together to a pout. “that’s too long. for all i know, you could be finished in a year.”
“don’t worry, i won’t. that i can promise you. but i just need more time.”
she took his loud breath as acceptance and focused back to her work, not finished with memorising every inch of his body. everything fit now. like this had been the last piece of the puzzle, needed to find what she so desperately longed for. the feeling of true love.
for kylian, everything still felt a bit surreal. if someone had told him a year ago, that he would be here, kissing and talking with amara imani, who used to be his celebrity crush and still was, he would have deemed that person for crazy. and yet it was reality now. circumstances and luck had brought them together and maybe he wished they had met at a different time, when she wasn’t completely broken and needed to be repaired. sure, things could have gone quicker than but if he was honest, he wouldn’t change their process for anything. he had at first hand experienced the process of building a relationship that was founded on trust and love. why would he ever feel the need to change that?
bringing himself out of his thought, he lightly nudged amara who had closed her eyes, enjoying the warmth kylian gave her. “want me to play some music?” kylian murmured into her ear, amara nodding, a soft “hmm” leaving her lips while her eyes rested shut, not really paying attention to his question.
“sure, as long as it’s not—“ she began tiredly. “i know, i know. no french rap.” he cut her off, aware of her distaste for his music. he hit play on the playlist, amara had created for him, the first notes of finesse by drake sounding out of his phone.
it had become a habit for them to play music when they were together. a ritual, where one played music and the other enjoyed and the other way around. it helped them focus on each other, ignore the surroundings around except themselves.
“what’s the first step of your project by the way?” kylian asked her curiously in a low tone, careful to not wake her from her slumber-state.
“stepping back into the public.” she replied nonchalantly, adjusting her head on his chest. “i’m making my comeback.”
“and i’ll support you on every step through it.” he mumbled, pressing a soft kiss on her hair as she fell asleep. but how could she not? the man she had confessed her feelings for was holding her, without any intention of letting go, he extended a certain sense of comfort and safety amara had never truly felt with evan and he loved her. how could her body not deem him as safe
it was the same for him. even though he hadn’t planned on staying the night, he wouldn’t dare to move even an muscle. the sight of her, sleeping innocently on his chest, was enough to keep him glued to his position for his entire life. if he died right now, he would die a happy man. that was guaranteed. the way her chest lifted calmly in a small rhythm to make clear that she was deep asleep, her soft breaths colliding against his neck — if he could, he would fall all over again for her. she was too perfect for him not too. like said, both added up to each other in the best way possible and it was clear to everyone who saw them, that they wouldn’t find another one like that again. amara finally experienced what she only saw in movies. and it was a million times better.
nobody had ever loved her like him. but if this was, what it felt like then she would pray to any higher power to keep this feeling — this love.

The Culture of Pop Music
Just like any other culture it has a history. It has people who belong to and appreciate it and it has people that don't.
Jungkook has clearly stated his wish to be part of it.
There’s been a massive resurgence of early 2000s trends including fashion and music trends. We can see music of 2023 sampling, covering, being influenced by and paying homage to that era in their sounds and visuals.

There *IS* a conversation that has been going on for as long as I can remember AND before, as to pop music and it’s relationship with black culture. That’s not a topic that will be covered here. However it’s worth noting that Pop music, being so heavily influenced by black culture, leads to sensitivities when highlighting the things liked or disliked about pop music, it’s lyrics, visuals, sounds etc.

A lot of dance moves in pop music videos, seen as provocative by some audiences are praised and not seen as anything more than an extension of the music. The artists are praised for their sensual movements to the beat, reminiscent of how the listener may dance to the same song with their friends or partners at the club, in their car, at a house party, places you’d expect to enjoy pop music. The dancing mostly isn’t taken for more than what it, an addition to the visuals. Pop music videos are rarely seen as a reflection of the artists real life interactions, most viewers don’t expect the artists to dance off a car, on a metal fence or on a crane in real life.

Pop music of different decades has always had those that didn't subscribe to it and had lovers of it, it was seen with The Beatles, it was seen with Elvis, it was seen with Madonna. They all had the terms ‘scandalous’, ‘not suitable for kids’, ‘too provocative’, ‘basic’ etc attached to them at some point in their career.
Opposers of pop music have been heard time and time again over the years to praise their favoured genre for having more depth, more quality, more artistry etc whilst seeing pop music as lesser, as commercial and lacking artistic integrity.
Michael Jackson had major push back when shedding his child star image from his group with his brothers to become a soloist, yet today he is one on the biggest icons of music history, pop music, as are all the aformentioned artists.
In every period there were people for and people against.
This post is not about the harmful tropes within pop music, the objectifying visuals, the problematic lyrics etc. There are many issues with pop music, just like there are issues with rock music with parent and religious groups, divisive issues with country music, appropriation issue with the aforementioned and with Jazz music. Each genre has its issues. Each genre have people who love it or hate it.
This is just about the fact that pop culture exists, it has always existed, it's a culture that is important to a lot of people, it is understood and appreciated by a lot of people. It has always had people also against it, it has always had people trying to hold it accountable and people who do not enjoy it.
This is the culture, its always been here and most likely always will.
You don't have to like it, you don't have to love it, but there are those that do and that doesn't make one wrong and one right, it doesn't make one superior nor on inferior.
It’s the genre at present that JK wants to be apart of, that he wants to fit in with and he’s doing so well when looked at along side those successful and praised in that genre.
Comparing Jungkook to his old solo or group music and old style or comparing Jungkook to his members recent solo works does a huge disservice to him and to the other members. They've specifically stated that they wanted to show their individual colours separate to the group's.
By Jungkook's own admission he wants to be a global pop star, instead of looking to compare, either him to himself or him to others, when you look at the examples of popstars of today and of the early 2000s, Jungkook has achieved that and is continuing in that path. His solo rollout fits in with his pop peers.
It's a culture, its always been here and most likely always will.

anyways love this, definitely different from their current scent vibe. moonlight path was originally from the mid to late 2000s and it definitely smells of its time! it’s a soft baby powder clean and cozy white musk. it gives nostalgic avon vibes in the good way. it doesn’t have the bright fresh citruses that other white musks have, it’s denser and more sweet and vanillic, like a soft blanket. oh ya i HATE the current packaging btw. for some reason that label irks me and almost made me not try it… but i saw it get compared to avon night magic evening musk so i had to try… this is exactly the kind of scent i’m looking for in my body spray era. it’s not trying to be complex it’s not trying to be like a perfume. it’s staying in its damn place and being a great body spray that can be worn alone after a bubble bath or layered with a real perfume. smells like grandma’s talcum powder. applied with a big powder puff !.. i guess that’s why i hate the label. it looks like it’s trying to be ariana grande but it’s really ariana grandma.. that label doesn’t evoke vintage comfort at awl.. whys it silver.. and blue.. it’s clearly a baby pink and cream and white and soft lavender smell

Jonathan Bailey's interview with Gay Times (2023)
From his work in regency-era dramedy Bridgerton to groundbreaking period piece Fellow Travelers, as well as an upcoming role in the movie adaptation of classic musical Wicked, Jonathan Bailey is blazing a trail as one of the world’s most prominent out gay actors – and activists. This year’s GAY TIMES Honours sees the star succeed 2022’s recipient of the Changemaker Award, Tom Daley, as a result of his new partnership with the official LGBTQIA+ young people’s charity Just Like Us, a collaboration he describes as “critical and crucial”: “LGBTQIA+ issues don’t speak for themselves, and you need people to step forward. It’s important for me to be able to do that.”
Three days after his infectious, frenetic energy made its mark on the GAY TIMES set, a freshly bronzed Bailey is preparing for yet another shoot in Marrakech, Morocco. Speaking from Zoom, he laughs (slash glows): “I’ve been sent out early just to get a tan.” After reminiscing on his “spiritual” on-set discourse about zodiac signs with our fashion and creative director, the aforementioned frenetic energy is back on display as he immediately dives into his Just Like Us partnership. “I’ve worked with Albert Kennedy Trust before, and there’s so many different charities that I look forward to working with,” he says. “Just Like Us really hit something that I felt was important. One thing is, how can people describe what they’re feeling and experiencing if they don’t have the vocabulary and tools to do so?”
Since Just Like Us was founded in 2016, the charity has collaborated with primary schools, secondary schools and colleges across the UK to improve the lives of queer youth. Their annual, UK-wide celebration of LGBTQIA+ awareness, School Diversity Week, sees thousands of schools take part with student talks and assemblies led by their Ambassador Programme, which trains LGBTQIA+ people aged 18-25 to speak about allyship and their own personal experiences with sexuality and/or gender identity. Bailey tells us that the partnership comes after an “extraordinary shift of years of opportunities and possibilities” via his various projects, from Netflix’s smasher Bridgerton to Showtime’s new LGBTQIA+ series Fellow Travelers and his upcoming role as Fiyero in Wicked, which will also star Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. “I now have a platform by which I can help guide people towards different narratives and causes.”
Laura Mackay, CEO of Just Like Us, praises the star’s activism in the following statement to GAY TIMES: “It speaks volumes about the calibre of our programmes that Jonathan Bailey has decided to join us as a patron. When we met with him to discuss the vital work we do, Jonathan spoke with vigour and sincerity of his unwavering commitment to improving the lives of LGBTQIA+ young people. I am so impressed with our Just Like Us team for creating this partnership and engaging such a wonderful role model. Jonathan oozes panache and gravitas, Just Like Us.”
First visiting the charity at their headquarters in July, Bailey was “blown away” by the team and their ambassadors. Praising their “assuredness, confidence and eloquence” in what they aim to achieve in schools, Bailey admits that he would “never have been able to speak” on LGBTQIA+ issues like that at their age. “There’s so much for me to learn,” he shares. “There’s just something that happens when people speak authentically about their identity in a way that is generous, because they want to connect and tell their story. I was there with my jaw slightly on the floor. I thought, ‘If I had met either of these two people when I was younger, I would’ve been so starstruck’ because they had such ownership of who they are. They had such charisma without shying away from the unsurprising vulnerabilities and obstacles they’ve had to overcome.”
Describing Just Like Us as a “supernova ball of energy” due to their united front in transforming the way in which schools across the UK discuss LGBTQIA+ matters, Bailey lauds the diverse and “enriching” stories that have been told via their ambassadors. Over the past four years, GAY TIMES has partnered with the charity on numerous occasions, with their ambassadors sharing their unique upbringings and experiences with oppression, resistance and hope. A selection of stories featured this year include: ‘As a Brown, Asian, Muslim LGBTQIA+ person, Middlesex Pride felt like home’; ‘Films taught me that LGBTQIA+ and faith identities couldn’t co-exist – but that wasn’t true’; and ‘How Loveless by Alice Oseman helped me discover my aromanticism’.
“I was particularly struck by the fact that there seems to be a knock-on effect of how many people linked to the ambassadors and their friends then jump on board because they see how beneficial it can be,” explains Bailey. “Not just for the people in the schools who are receiving those speeches and interactive sessions, but also for the ambassadors themselves.” Just Like Us is notable for their Pride Groups programme, where they help secondary schools set up and run lunchtime clubs for LGBTQIA+ pupils and their allies to learn, make friends and have a place in school that is free from homophobia and transphobia. Additionally, Just Like Us launched their landmark Positive Futures report earlier this year. Surveying 3,695 people aged 18 to 25 from across the UK, including 1,736 LGBTQIA+ young adults, the report identifies a link between lack of LGBTQIA+ support in childhood and poorer outcomes for mental health, wellbeing and career prospects in adulthood.
“It’s interesting hearing about Positive Futures and the difference between queer youth either being surrounded or in a nourished environment where people freely talk about identity and labels, versus kids that don’t,” he says. “The opportunities it gives them in young adulthood, as well as the increase and decrease in anxiety and panic attacks and depression; purely on the basis of their identities being acknowledged at a younger age. It’s huge. The correlation between conversation and the vocabulary that comes with that leading to a happier life is just… It’s undeniable.”
Clear communication about LGBTQIA+ issues was scarce – rather, non-existent – when Bailey was at school. The partnership forced him to reflect on his “own upbringing, what has changed and, more crucially, what hasn’t changed. One of those things for me was about education, schools, and growing up and my own youth.” For a recent Fellow Travelers campaign, Bailey returned to his home village in Brightwell-cum-Sotwell, a place where anyone who was “other” was “deemed not acceptable”. “That’s how I felt growing up, purely on the basis that I wasn’t aware of any gay people around me,” he says, criticising mainstream media’s archaic portrayal of LGBTQIA+ people at the time. “The media spun stories that were so negative towards the plight of the gay experience, so I didn’t really have access to anything that made me feel welcome or like I was going to be okay, and I was someone who was very aware of who I was. I talked about it from the age of eleven. I wonder what my life would’ve been like, had there been the vocabulary and ambassadors coming into my school. It would’ve definitely helped me feel more secure and to blossom quicker. For me, that sort of confidence in myself has come later on in life because of not having that.”
Immediately after Bailey completed his A-Levels in 2006 – the day of, actually – he moved to London to replace Andrew Garfield in a stage adaptation of the cult queer rom-com Beautiful Thing. As an 18-year-old from a rural village, the multicultural hub of London allowed him to “accrue information and experiences” that weren’t previously accessible to him. “It was meeting amazing people. I wasn’t anywhere near the point where I was going to come out to people I didn’t know, but I already had conversations with my friends,” he remembers. “So, moving to London was sort of a patient and nerdy acquisition of facts and experiences, which emboldened me to the point where I could finally talk to my family [about my sexuality], particularly my parents.” Assimilating to the inclusiveness of London made Bailey project his own growth onto his school, assuming that it would have been transformed into a “multicultural hub with clear access to education or information to anyone who wasn’t a white straight kid”. However, as he discovered: “It wasn’t, actually. What was true is that the same tree of Christianity and faith, with the same laminate piece of paper from when I was there, is still on the wall. Of course, I’ve got no judgement on any of that, other than it’s a reminder of the work that needs to be done for those who are trying to survive. How do you inspire people to understand things outside of their own experience, if they don’t need to or it doesn’t suit them or challenge them?”
Fellow Travelers ties in with his Just Like Us partnership, he says, as it has allowed Bailey to look at the “underside of the queer experience”. Airing on Paramount Plus in the UK, the series is based on Thomas Mallon’s acclaimed novel of the same name and follows the toxic romance between Bailey’s character Tim Laughlin and Matt Bomer’s Hawkins Fuller in the shadow of McCarthy-era Washington. Created by Oscar nominee Ron Nyswaner, Fellow Travelers chronicles their romance over the course of four decades whilst exploring the Vietnam War protests of the 1960s, the “drug-fueled disco hedonism” of the 1970s and the AIDS crisis of the 1980s. His first major LGBTQIA+ project, Bailey says “you can’t get more queer than Fellow Travelers” and adds that “it’s the gayest show I could find.”
Quite correct; the first episode introduces the sub-dom dynamic between Tim and Hawk with a now-infamous foot-fetish sequence which, unsurprisingly, spawned a plethora of horny headlines (yes, we’re guilty of this) and went viral on social media. The remainder of the season continues to depict gay sex with authenticity which is, sadly, still a surprise in 2023. When we spoke with Nyswaner, he told GAY TIMES that it was important for him to “embrace” sex in the show as a result of his own personal experiences. “When I came out in the 1970s, those were the celebratory days of the gay experience. It was pre-AIDS and we were released. Sex is the way that we expressed our community,” he explained. “That connection that I got to have with other gay men, whether it was one night or a little bit longer, was very powerful to me and gave me joy.”
Bailey says Fellow Travelers came “at the right time”. “Someone asked me after Bridgerton, ‘What do you want to do next?’ and that is an amazing position to be in, having worked for so long to suddenly have real choice in what you do. I knew that I wanted to do a sweeping gay love story because I hadn’t seen it, especially one that’s detailed over eight hours.” While Bailey admits he doesn’t respond to fans on Instagram – with over three million followers, we’ll let him off – he’s read “extraordinary” messages from people who have connected to Fellow Travelers’ story. “People have messaged saying, ‘I’m closeted but watching this is helping me in a way that you might not understand.’ Someone else said it made them come out, and these are people in their 40s and 50s. There’s these lost generations that Fellow Travelers is highlighting, people who are more scared than ever to feel invalidated if they were to finally come out and speak their truth. I’m mindful of the fact that there are people of every age who are striving to live authentically.”
With this in mind, Bailey continues: “It’s funny, people look at the 1950s setting for Fellow Travelers and say, ‘God, how awful must it have been back then?’ We’re incredibly privileged in the west. Fifties America is pretty much everywhere else in the world, and still can be. There’s so many places where people are experiencing that level of oppression and so I’m really proud of Ron’s work because it presents 40 years of an incredible celebration of progression.” In October, Bailey attended the Human Rights Campaign’s 2023 dinner, where he presented Bomer with the Impact Award, which recognises members of the LGBTQIA+ community who are dedicated to championing and advocating queer issues. Bailey’s Bridgerton co-star Golda Rosheuvel also introduced Shonda Rhimes, the recipient of the National Equality Award. His first political gala, Bailey describes the event – a room of over three thousands queer icons, allies and activists – as “enthralling, energised and inspiring” and was another pivotal moment of self-reflection for him. “I was like, ‘Blimey, if you think about the 12-year-old boy who knew something about himself, knew 100 per cent that he was not like other people, to then be in a room where he feels completely galvanised and inspired…’ That sort of joy, ferocity and forward-thinking is so intoxicating and important for people to feel because there’s also so much residue. The vitriol and hate is always bubbling under, so you need organisations like Just Like Us who are going to be going into schools to culture students at a young age and make them think outside of their own narratives they get given at home by their parents or films and stories that aren’t helpful. It’s a better landscape for us all, really.”
With the “cobwebs of old archaic belief systems about what a gay man can and can’t do as an actor,” Bailey is proud to be accepting the Changemaker Award, describing it as a “fully realised vocation to make change”. He’s humble, of course, as he takes the time to acknowledge the internal, grassroots operation at Just Like Us and their objective to revolutionise the experiences of LGBTQIA+ youth. “Once you’ve done the work as an actor in this way, all you have to do it turn up and be there,” he says. “The real work comes from the people who are working at Just Like Us, the charities and support groups who have to constantly chug away to get the funds and be noticed. There’s a glimmer in me that knows the work is done elsewhere. But my God, I’m thrilled that I can use my platform to raise the volume on so many other people’s brilliant policies.” Bailey credits his role as straight lead Anthony in Bridgerton with his power to incite change within the LGBTQIA+ community. "As one of the world’s most streamed and acclaimed dramas, Bridgerton’s impact is undeniable. You get a fanbase and it’s almost like a conga line, where you can then lead those people to other stories which feel really important to you. To be able to go from that to Fellow Travelers and Just Like Us is something I’ll be proud of for the rest of my life.”

Jungkook: Anyways, we celebrated a lot of Latin celebrations. Like different independence days, race days, and flags days.
🦊: When we went to Mexico we did the “Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe” and w-
Jungkook: We wanted to see the Lady of Guadalupe so badly, but she never appeared.
🦊: Nope~
Jungkook: We also went to Bolivia in August for the “Feast of the Virgen de Urkupiña”, “Feast of Our Lady Altagracia” in the Dominican Republic in January.
🦊: The one that took the longest was the “Fiestas Patronales” in Puerto Rico.
Jungkook: Oh yeah! They start in August but end around January or February.
🦊: We did this one when there were no schedules for him or any of the BTS members.
Jungkook: It was fun to experience traveling from town to town. All 78 of them.
🦊: And I would like to clarify that it’s not just one day per town. It’s a weekend-
Jungkook: Or maybe a whole week...
🦊: Of just carnival rides, street food, and music.
Jungkook: It was really fun. We skipped the ones that had the same performers.
🦊: Was that shocking to you?
Jungkook: Oh! For sure!~ It was very beautiful the idea of 78 towns coming together to schedule festivals. The festival ended in one town and then it continued in another.
🦊: I think these moments are important to realize that “culture shock” can be bad and horrible but also beautiful and fun.
Jungkook: Exactly. I think it’s fun that we like each other’s culture and can make each other see what we grew up with and understand each other more because of that.

In that pleasing tiktok which, he's wearing rings again which he hasn't been since the shows I think. Do you know if there's any significance to those specific rings?
It's also interesting they deleted the one using style fast which makes me wonder if some intern accidently did it otherwise makes no sense.

An account like Pleasing would probably have quite robust approvals for a TikTok, I'd say especially with Harry's hand, so I think that chaos was intended. Pleasing's Tik Tok has a clear soundscape that doesn't fit with. So I don't think intern, I do think HS knew and I think it was deleted because he's particular and cares about it being cohesive. Once it went viral they didn't need it the deletion adds to the mystery.
The rings he wore in the TikTok today are ones he wears quite often:
H&S are custom Gucci, he's worn them since 2019 and represent himself. An etched version is available for sale
Stevie Nicks gifted him the large pink stone ring in his first ever show at the Forum for Fine Line's launch in December 2019. He wore that in the Falling Music Video also.
The Ruby Ring is one he has had since May 2017 when his Debut Album came out, I think it is about his solo career, but it's a ruby...
The mosaic ring appeared in 2021 I don’t know the meaning but it’s so pretty! This posts thinks it could be about Robin. Alessandro has a similar ring

He doesn't talk about them so we can only guess any meaning, also impossible to know if the first time we see a ring is when he got it, unless it changes hands like the Haylor one. The ones wonder if may be to do with Taylor are:
the Rose, he wore this 6 March 2017, just before his first solo album. He wore it all through the promo and was lost at an Ariana Grande Concert in August 2019 and he seemed worried. The reason I wonder if it could be connected to Taylor is the rose. He references roses in LOML Lyric video, she only uses roses in Lyrics, videos in connection to him and he got the rose tattoo while they dated. He wore it on the cover of Rolling Stone when he left the table when the interviewer brought her up.
Haylor Ring - it was hers, she gave it to him in 2014 when Style came out, he wore it up to 2017. It's in his last B&W Instagram in 2016 and on Carpool Karaoke in 2017.
Gucci Lion - he has at least 3 Gucci lion rings, silver with a purple stone, which is a custom combination, gold with a black stone and gold with a purple stone. He got all 3 in 2018, first seen in silver in Japan in August 2018. Taylor wore the earrings from same collection in the lAWYMMD video 10 months before he wore the ring. Gold first seen here October 2018 when a fan found it at Coachella it has an inscription of 'second time's a charm'. But this and the Rose may just be about his solo career.
Grateful Dead ring it appeared while they dated in 2014, she referenced it in Delicate.

Same anon! I saw your post about the hypothetical Jimin x Ariana collab and I’m with you, I hope it won’t happen I have 0 interest for her and her music I don’t get the fuss. I’m a fan of Taemin solo work and he’s the only artist I wish Jimin would do a collab with. Ngl I would also love a Tae x Lady Gaga jazz song for Christmas but that’s it. I’m done with the collabs with western artists and the 30 remixes. If I wanna listen to mediocre mainstream US pop I can do it on my own, I started getting into BTS because they were different. I miss Run BTS episodes so much it was such a fun moment each week. I miss BV, and just the random moments of the members all together. Somehow I feel way more enjoyment for all 7 of them together than the members individually. I miss their dynamics and the way each of their personalities blend together.
Hi same anon. Looks like we can agree on a lot!!! I’m also a huge fan of Taemin’s solo work. I like his solo work more than his group’s discography, which is no shade to them really. I know that they are legendary in terms of kpop so that’s not to be disrespectful to them just a preference. Funny enough, Taemin’s solo work is more hetero than I would hope for Jimin, but I wouldn’t mind if Jimin incorporated some of those same sensual elements into his artistry (I say that but then I might get kinda annoyed by it too 🤣) oh that’s right I too would love a Lady Gaga and Tae jazz collab!!! I’m basically okay with western collabs if it’s someone that I know would work really well with the tannies and if I like that artist as a person, and sorry but I can’t stand Ariana Grande as a person. She sucks. I’m not above mainstream mediocre western pop either, but I agree there is a time and a place for it and I got into BTS because their music was deeper than that.
I too get much more enjoyment out of all 7 of them together. I’ve tried to like other groups. I’ve tried to get into their dynamic, but it feels more manufactured than BTS does. Not to say that there can’t be genuine friendships in those groups, but they feel more performative for the cameras. Idk it’s hard to explain. BTS have an authenticity that I haven’t found in any other artist in kpop or in general. They are all so different personality wise but they also mesh together so well at the same time. I watched and old Eat Jin live last night from 2018 where it was Jin and Jimin. 🥹 it got me in my feels and that’s the stuff that I miss. Jimin was being so funny and sassy and bratty and Jin was giving it right back to him but also melting and letting Jimin get his way. It’s easy to see bits of ourselves represented in the different members because they are being authentic and genuine. I miss seeing those dynamics so much.

Lil Nas X Back At It Again:
Lil Nas X just dropped his new single 'J Christ' and he is relying on controversy once again. At this point that has become his go to choice in order to promote his releases. He had been posting on his socials that he was going to expose his fellow celebrities and that he was collaborating with another singer. It didn't exactly do what he hoped it to do. And there was no featured artist on the track.
He uses religious imagery and compares himself to Jesus. In the music video he has lookalikes of Taylor Swift, Kanye West, Oprah Winfrey, Mariah Carey and Ice Spice to name a few. You do have to give it to his label for having quite the budget for the visuals. However the music itself doesn't sound different or new to what we've heard from him before.
Controversy being used as a tactic to generate interest for his releases will only be surprising for a short moment, after which it becomes expected. It also ends up taking the attention away from the music. His era's last for a short moment and then they are forgotten, and oft times the talk is not about the music itself.
Did it in the end generate much buzz? Not really and Ariana Grande's much anticipated new single ended up overshadowing his.

during the speak now era Taylor really worked on improving her vocals, you can really see the difference from those two. For the eras tour you can really see she's improved her stamina and is never out of breath while singing for all 3 hours of the show. that's a lot of work and dedication but she will never have Ariana Grande vocals and i don't think she's needs to have them either.
i enjoy some of Arianas songs and she is a fenomenal vocalist but her music overall isn't for me.
is Taylor a terrible singer? no. is she one of the greatests vocalists of all time? no. she has her strengths and weaknesses with singing but it does the job. i like Taylor's voice but comparing her to Ariana is setting her up to fail. in the same way if compare arianas writing skills with taylors she's being set up to fail as well.
exactly exactly. and both taylor and ariana offer different things with their vocals. ariana is technically amazing but i've noticed she's so focused on being perfect and hitting every note there's not much room for emoting. taylors really good at emoting and letting you feel what shes singing.
