You take music reccs? I love trading music 🫎 what are you into (I know that's a bad question because even I answer with "I'll listen to anything" haha. I guess I mean what will you tolerate listening to? What do you find you tend to prefer? You can name artists and songs and albums and that way I don't recommend something completely outside of what you'd enjoy).

Albums I will always wax poetic about are folklore + evermore by Tay Swift, Is This It + The New Abnormal by The Strokes, and The Black Parade by My Chem. It's what I call "my alt to rock spectrum that's so mainstream everyone has a scathing opinion of it"

it is as you say, I like all kinds of music. Maybe not metal or grunge or that UNTZ UNTS UNTS club music, it's just not my cup of tea! But I don't think it's bad or anything if you like it hahaha, to each their own!

But I do like anything from emo to country to musicals.

atm I'm really into Noah Kahan lately.

I seldom listen to albums or artists, I just listen to songs as singular pieces and I seldom even know who the artist is sdfgh. But when I do find one, I tend to just listen to the album on repeat or incorporate the music into my mood-themed playlists.

Oh yeah! Hahaha, chemical romance I remember those!

Eh I don't care if it's mainstream or not. Music is meant to be enjoyed, I think. What's in a name, a rose is still a rose. No shade intended on my part here, I just don't understand people who shame others for listening to a song/artist/album. Like... So I like listening to ABBA sometimes, and Elvis, so? They got swing in it, I like feeling upbeat. If music can help me feel upbeat, who cares if it's welcome to my life by simple plan or Hozier's take me to church?

I, for one, am not on this planet to feel bad about liking things. Not anymore anyway. I don't care if it's cringe or stupid or immature, blah blah, y'know? <:D I try really hard to just live my life and enjoy things whole heartedly. If someone wants to be a music snob and say that listening to Bon Jovi is cringe. Then like weird flex but okay, go be cooler than me elsewhere then, lol, I'm having fun. :)

if we were villains

okay so, im gonna start rambling about a book, you're welcome to ignore it. but i love reading. and i read if we were villains in january '24. and i still can't get my fucking mind off it.

more under the cut, i can't promise it's gonna make sense but aaaa. also spoilers

so backstory, the girls and i decided to start a bookclub back in november. we decided that we could start with if we were villains because all four of us had the book and then another friend join and there were suddenly five of us. we thought that a month would be enough for all of us to read it. it is now march and we're still waiting for one of the girls to finish. that's absolutely fine, life can be so chaotic.

ANYWAYS, another friend finished it today and we just started talking about it. and hello, this book is so good, im sobbing. i actually spent like an hour crying after i finished the book because it was so good and my heart was fucking breaking.

THE STORY WAS SO GOOOOOOOOOD AND THE CHARACTERS WERE SO FLESHED OUT I LOVE THEM. they had such a depth to them and all their flaws made them so much more human and they were such an odd friend group but i loved them nonetheless.

don't even let me get started on the love oliver and james had for each other. and like i don't even know what to think of the ending? like truly. IS JAMES TRULY DEAD? IS HE ALIVE?? DID HE FAKE HIS DEATH??? what's going on????

some part of me wants him to be alive. him killing himself 6 years after oliver was incarcerated would be so anticlimaticcccccc. like he's waited for oliver for the past six years, please wait for 4 more so you two can fuck off to get married in a church in the middle of fucking nowhere and stay in a forest for the rest of their lives.

but on the other hand, this wouldn't be a tragedy without it. i don't know how to explain my thought process but there's something so freeing about a character death, sue me.

after i finished the book i was crying so hard, i couldn't see the fucking book. and after i calmed down, i documented what was happening to the girlies (without spoiling ofc) AND THEN I GET ASSAULTED BY "STICK SEASON" BY NOAH KAHAN PLAYING ON ONE OF MY INSTAGRAM STORIESSSS. particularly THIS PART

LIKE HOW FUCKING DARE YOU NOAH. THIS PART IS LITERALLY JAMES AND OLIVER AND YOU CAN PRY THIS IDEA FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS.

believe me, i started sobbing even louder after that. how fucking dare. i think i was so numb the next day when i woke up, the book fucking broke me.

this book is a masterpiece. even though im not really a dark academia girl and i haven't read a lot of the classics and shakespeare's works, i loved this book. it was so easy to find myself in all of the characters and connect with them on a level. and their friendship reminded me of my own group and i couldn't be more thankful for them. hopefully none of us turn out to be richard. i hope.

i can't really say that i have a favourite character but i longed to discover more of the relationship between james and oliver, and i kind of missed more of wren and fillipa. love those two girlies to death.

im not going to villain-ise meredith. she did what she had to do and she was struggling with an abusive boyfriend and honestly, good for her. i need more of her confidence for myself.

i love this book to bits and pieces and i beg everyone around me to read it because it's so good.

director's commentary: mikhail is also not handling losing vitali well. he believes it's his own fault- thinks he didn't make enough effort to keep in touch with vitali and now he's ignoring him because of it. mikhail is trying a bit harder to move on, mainly because he has to focus on school a lot; but he can't help but keep thinking about vitali and wondering if he will ever see him again

director's commentary: when mikhail and vitali reunite at arasaka, they move on very quickly from everything that happened mainly because they no longer want to think about it. but both of them realize that things are different now; and they worry about each other, not used to each other's new habits and quirks and especially mikhail worries a lot about vitali. but he also stays patient with him. they have all the time in the world now

director's commentary: another song that's just a bit more fun, mikhail and vincent's dynamics are just very fun and they love each other so much by now. it's interesting how they both started out very shy and nervous around each other but at the same time didn't want the other to walk away; some of that still lingers now, but they're enjoying the time they have together anyway

No pressure asking about that meta for Jay's exit and the song "She Calls Me Back" because I love your metas and I'm going to be trying to start the show on peacock this month!

First of all, I am thrilled for you to start CPD. Please message me with all of your thoughts. And, of course, when you get to the love of my life, Mouse. Seriously, I am here for all yelling and thoughts and babbles at all times. Unfortunately, I'm attached to this show and all of its characters - yes, even the ones I don't like. It's less that Voight has grown on me and more like... I can't wait to see how his story ends? Whether that means the end of the show or if he gets written out sooner than that. He fascinates me, but that's a different meta.

Jay's exit, though...

I have a lot of thoughts about Jay's exit in general, though I think my overall opinion of it seems to be unpopular? I loved 10x03 and the exit that Jay got, and all of the little details of it, and, because I'm me, how well it ties into how Mouse was written out six years ago. I don't agree with the general consensus that the episode was "bad" or that Jay was "out of character" or any of that. It was an hour of television that I genuinely really enjoyed, so I'll talk it up and praise it with every breath I take because oh my god.

Look, I will admit that hearing about Jesse leaving the show worried me at first. They've been playing up the idea of Jay taking over Intelligence one day since season 6, I even had a theory about how Jay was going to become a sergeant and take over the team from Voight over the course of season 10 that I really did believe in. And then we got that headline, and it hurt. It was taking away this storyline I really, really wanted to see, and it was upsetting. But I came to terms with it, and that hurt didn't ruin my enjoyment of the episode by the time it aired, if that makes sense? And then the way they did it... wasn't a disservice to that idea they've been playing up for so long.

And the way they did it, which I still love so much, for every reason - wonderfully in character for Jay, the callbacks to Mouse (probably not intentional but I loved them anyway), the open ending so he can come back - really does consume my every waking thought. Kit and Cíara have heard a lot about my thoughts, however incoherent they might be at times, and however much my thoughts are just... Noah Kahan lyrics.

Because so much of my thoughts on this are just the bridge of She Calls Me Back on a loop. That kind of... stepping back from the what's expected, which was staying in Intelligence and eventually leading the team in a post-Voight era, and stepping into something familiar, which was going back to the army and kind of... marrying these two lives he's led. Jay is off in Bolivia, now, taking down cartels and stopping drugs from even hitting the streets in the first place. he's still Jay, trying to make the world a better place and doing things by the book, instead of changing himself to become Voight because he thinks he needs to take over one day.

Really, that's what was happening. A lot of season 9 was him (and Hailey) getting dragged into Voight's nonsense - covering up deaths, committing more felonies and covering those up, the things that Voight's been doing for the last decade plus that Jay has been trying to stop him from doing since the first season. I really appreciate that Jay's exit involved him looking at that path he was on, saying "I don't want to be this," and turning himself onto a different path that he actually wants to be on, you know? I love the autonomy that gives him, as a character? He saw this life he didn't like and found a way to stop living it, and I'm incredibly proud of him for that.

And the final scene he had with Hailey doesn't make me doubt their marriage or their love or their future at all. There's absolutely no doubt in my mind that Jay will take this time to himself, get through his eight months in Bolivia, and when he's back in Chicago he'll keep that autonomy that the narrative gave him, and he'll continue on a path that he wants to be in, instead of falling back into the path that he was kind of... put on? Because Voight told him he would take over one day, it wasn't like anyone asked Jay if he wanted that. It was just expected to happen. And I don't remember if it was a deleted scene or not (because I binged 4 seasons that week end everything blurred together) but immediately after that happened, Jay was stunned and confused and reached out to Hailey while trying to process the idea. i don't think he ever actually wanted to lead Intelligence, but I think the idea of it fed into his exit, in a way. He is leading his own team, in Bolivia, and calling the shots the way he wants to do it, on his own terms. And it's crazy to think that there are very few things in Jay's life that he's gotten to choose for himself, you know?

He enlisted in the army and then stayed there until he nearly died and didn't even have the option to stay in. He joined the police force and did what was expected of him until he climbed ranks to make detective. He chose Intelligence when he had the choice of where to go after a major bust (CFire s2), but I could write another essay about how he potentially only chose it because it was what everyone was aiming for. It was this elite team and he had the strings to pull to get on it - did he want to be there or did he feel like he was supposed to want to be there so that's what he thought he wanted? And then he was told that he would one day take over. Never asked. Then there was the case in 10x03, where he jumped in and took matters into his own hands, took the lead the way he would one day have to if he stayed on this track, and he realized where that would one day lead - to becoming Voight.

I really think that is why he left. And he chose every part of it. He got to make the choice to not become Voight, and to stay Jay, even if that meant stepping back from a life he built to figure out what changes he wanted to make.

Which (finally) brings me back to the bridge of SCMB:

all the pain I should have saved oh, I was too afraid of living life in your footsteps in your heart or in your head oh, I was too afraid of living life in your footsteps

Jay saw the footsteps he was following, and he could see far enough ahead to see where they ended, and he didn't want that. He didn't want the journey or the destination, so he changed it.

Billboard USA Exclusion Zone Episode 19 (08/05/2023)

After three weeks hiatus, I am finally back from the break and a lot has happened recently. We got Jungkook and Latto's first #1 hit, this week we have NewJeans album bomb along with Barbie rising up more, and Speak Now Taylor's Version is out as well. That's all that really happened really, I don't know what anything that happened beside that hahaha....anyways here's the best chart on earth's debut review.

4. "ETA" by NewJeans

I think 2023 has been a great year for Kpop, but if you tell this to like a Kpophead they'll tell you it's kinda tumultuous. Using NewJeans as an example, they have been kinda screwed by their label manager in the lead up to Get Up. This song is the prime example which some people on Twitter are calling this song a support for a far-left Basque separatist group...okay then twitter. Bottom line is that despite the success and this being a great song (even if it sounded like That That by Psy), It has been a chaotic year for Kpop

6. "K-pop" by Travis Scott ft. Bad Bunny & The Weeknd

I will get into the album review next week, but it's kinda interesting how because of Goosebumps and Sicko Mode, he's now is big enough globally that this song can chart on Global Excluding US chart. And also I couldn't forget that while he's indeed a piece of shit and has blood on his hand, at the end of the day the music has to prove itself to be good (unless if you are a Nazi or a rapist and make a song about it). With that in mind, this song is not good. Who thought that mixing funk carioca drum with eerie synth was a good idea is beyond me.

19. "Cool With You" by NewJeans

My favorite part of Kpop this year is how they're embracing the 2000's dance sound along with the club sound. That's why this song is my favorite one from the album. I just love the UK Garage sound and this one is no exceptions.

26. "ASAP" by NewJeans

I've never seen any Kpop bands ever experimented as much as this one. This is legit felt like early Bjork sound modernized and I don't take that lightly.

44. "Get Up" by NewJeans

Cool intro sis!

82. "Barbie Girl" by Aqua

You know my ass was very egg back then when I didn't have negative reaction listening to this song for the first time during elementary. And also me opening up repressive memories of me wanting to play Barbie but couldn't...anyways Barbie movie is great.

The fact that this song sounds like her hyperpop days with the ringtone like synth and the distorted bass charted high in here and also the US showed that we are so back baby!

My favorite part of the movie is the music choices. The fact that they changed the music on the radio from Indigo Girls to Matchbox Twenty to signified the takeover of Kens is inspired, as well as making Ryan Gosling singing what I would describe as an homage to the late Jim Steinmen, this movie is just great.

I kinda missed the indie folk sound of 2011-2014 as vapid and meaningless as they sound. And I'm glad he bring this back with some great guitar solo.

The mutant snuggled closer to Parker on the bed, now that she was waking up a new feeling was crawling up her chest. Parker couldn't stay, his time here was ending, and so were their chances to be together. She couldn't abandon this universe, especially now that the Young Avengers needed a leader.

She'd finally gotten something she wanted to explore as Cat, though, and she wanted to hold onto it too. The mutant never tried to hold onto anything, but this seemed like the right time to try that out.

Parker stirred awake as she pressed tighter against him, and his arms wrapped around her soothingly. He kissed the top of her head and breathed in like he'd had the most pleasant sleep of a decade. "Had a bad dream?"

"A bad life..." she mumbled against his chest. "And now that I can change that... I'm scared I won't be able to."

Parker looked down at her with worry. "Listen, I'm a stubborn guy so I can handle whatever comes next, but I need you to tell me face to face, now that you've calmed down, that you want to be with me for sure."

"I already told you," Cat huffed.

"But you were going through many things yesterday, you said Kurt's leaving, and you've run out of fights, makes me feel like you're looking for a new challenge. I'm not the next big milestone, okay? Wanna make sure we agree on that."

Cat pushed herself up, she thought hard about her answer. "Well... how do you feel about us?"

Parker sat up too, they were shoulder to shoulder now. "I really, truly want you. But there is no bigger reason than that. I have a personal pathway that's really clear to me, all I'm asking is if you'd like to keep each other company on the go. What about you?"

Cat fidgeted with the sheets. "Saying I'm in love with you feels cheap, Peter. You're good and I suck. I love you is not enough."

"I don't think you suck," he shrugged. "I think sometimes not even you understand yourself, but you're loyal, and you're capable of loving in an amazing way. In my opinion, that's enough to keep things running."

"You think so?"

"I do, yes," he smiled, eyes full of adoration. "I love you because you make me happy. That's all I need to know."

"Hah," she covered her face with both hands. "Y'know, it had been a while since someone made me feel like this..."

"I'm pretty sure that's on you," Parker raised a brow. "I know some tried and you never let 'em."

"Shouldn't you be glad I didn't?" She nudged his shoulder. "Kept the path cleared out for you."

"Not if it made you miserable," he reached for her hand. "You deserved to be looked after, you should have been loved every day of your life."

"I had love..." Cat thought of all the things that happened just so Parker could be there, all the ways it could've ended up differently. She didn't know if she would've done it all over again, but it didn't feel like the worst outcome either. "And I'm ready to accept more of it."

"You won't regret it," he kissed the back of her hand. "We'll be a great team."

Cat squeezed his hand. "We'll need so much help before we can get to that, though..."

"After all you've done for your friends?" He replied, lips still lingering on her knuckles. "The least they can do is hear you out."

"Again, most problems they faced were my fault."

"I don't trust your unreliable narration," he teased her. "It's about time I met your friends, anyway."

Cat walked up the stone staircase of the mansion's entrance with Parker beside her (dressed in civilian clothes). She was about to knock on the huge wooden doors when a PUFF! was heard and startled them. Peter held onto the stone. "Jesus!"

Nightcrawler sat cross-legged on the broad banister, grinning from ear to ear. "I'm actually his distant cousin. You must be the other Spider-man!"

Parker looked at Cat in confusion, and she introduced them. "This is Kurt. Kurt, this is..." she didn't know what to call him, Parker stepped in right on time.

"Ben Reilly," he offered to shake the mutant's hand. Cat smiled, having many names wasn't such a weird trait when it came to superheroes.

Kurt squinted. "Doesn't sound like a real name."

"I promise it is," Parker replied. "Both names are on my birth certificate."

And as far as Cat knew, at least one of them belonged to him. "How did you know we were here?" She asked her friend.

"Edith saw you coming," he pointed at the upper left corner of the door, there was a tiny camera there. "Webhead says this guy is your boyfriend."

Cat looked at Parker. "I never called you my boyfriend out loud."

"Out loud," Kurt echoed with amusement.

"Shut up," she scowled. "Are you here to open the door or do we have to kick it down?"

"Oh, someone's coming," Kurt got to his feet and stared at Parker, he was a bit shorter than Peter, but the young man stepped back warily anyway. Kurt switched to German. "I'm here to determine if this idiot looks sturdy enough to survive dating you."

Parker's eyes widened. "What did he say?"

Cat knocked on the door loudly. "Open u—!" The doors opened and revealed a large group of people waiting for them. "I was gone for a few hours! How did y'all get here so fast?"

"Kurt picked us up," Wanda stepped forward. "Is that your new boyfriend?"

Kate drew Cat into the room, behind the archer she spotted Yelena and Peter (in his spider suit) talking in quiet whispers, definitely making fun of her. Harley was there still, and he had the E.D.I.T.H. glasses on.

"That toy isn't yours," Cat pointed out.

"Actually, it is," Spider-man responded. "He should be the one to have them."

Harley winked at her, his bruises seemed to be healing nicely, and his eye was no longer swollen, just bloodshot. He glanced over her shoulder. "That your boyfriend?"

"Oh, for fucks sake," she rolled her eyes, calling Parker over. Kurt was standing in his way on purpose. "Knock it off, Smurf!"

Parker approached and waved to the group of super people. "Hi. I'm Ben."

"Ben what?" Harley crossed his arms.

"Ben Reilly," Kurt answered.

Yelena snorted. "That's not a real name."

"That's exactly what I—!"

"Quiet!" Cat exclaimed. "Someone please explain why is everyone here?"

"This is the new clubhouse, is it not?" Yelena asked.

"I thought you didn't want to be an Avenger," Cat raised a brow.

"Kate begged me to come," she looked around. "It is a nice house... you may try to convince me."

"You want free housing," Cat stated.

"Yes."

"We'll talk about that in a moment," Cat looked at Wanda and her gaze softened. "Hi."

The Scarlet Witch hugged her, and she whispered in her ear. "Ben's handsome."

Cat chuckled, she moved to look at her. "Are you sure about this?"

Wanda shrugged. "I won't stay here, but I can help you turn it into a proper compound... I also have the feeling you'll need my help with something else," the girl gave her a significant look.

They moved their conversation to the sitting area on the first floor, Cat was standing in front of her friends, and Parker was standing next to the doorway, leaning against it with his arms crossed and throwing nervous glances at the group.

"Thank you for coming, I guess... There are a few people we should call if they want to join, and we should see how the rooming's gonna work if you're planning to stay here permanently or only during meetings and before missions..." She glimpsed at Parker, and he nodded encouragingly. "I have some news."

"Let me guess," Harley looked up from his tablet and pointed at Parker over his shoulder. "You're leaving with him."

"No—" Parker began, and she spoke at the same time.

"—we're trying to come up with a way—"

"—this is her life, I can't expect her to—"

"Guys," Spider-man raised both hands to stop them. "No one's angry at you."

Cat looked around, it was true, no one seemed mad. In fact, everyone was acting as if they'd been expecting this for a long, long time. "Am I missing something?"

"A brain," Harley taunted her. Kate hit his arm.

"Well," Spidey continued bluntly. "We've been trying to tell you— we think it's a good idea if you leave this place."

Cat's confusion increased. "What?"

"You know when I asked if you liked Ben's universe?" Kurt explained. "Part of it was me trying to find a way to tell you I'd go, but I noticed there was something there that could be a solution to your problem."

"Cat, you're one of the best heroes in this world," Kate admitted. "That's why is almost impossible for you to get a good life. There's always going to be a bad guy or a threat that you have to take care of..."

"That's not the life you deserve," Spidey concluded. "We had a talk last night. We think living in a universe where no one will know what you are and what you can do, where is far less dangerous and quieter, it's perfect for you. You won't have to work all the time, even if you could."

"And that's why I'm here," Wanda smiled.

Cat frowned. "And how did they find you?"

"Kate told me about her," Kurt shrugged. "Wasn't hard. When I got there she knew who I was right away."

"He was in many of your memories," Wanda beamed. "I was excited to finally meet him," Cat had the feeling her friends had gotten along in more ways than one. "He asked me to come so I came."

"But why?" Cat insisted. "You almost died the last time you messed with the multiverse, why are you trying that again?"

"Because you don't exist in Ben's world. You could exist as you are now, and that might change the narrative, but if you lived there a whole month and nothing happened..."

"It might work," Harley tapped something onto his tablet. "I stayed up the whole night with Webs to come up with this, Wanda helped us. We think that the solution is to pull a Persephone."

"To pull..." Cat frowned. "You mean to divide my time between universes?"

"Well, it's fitting," Spider-man shrugged. "You train the recruits during the spring and summer, then live a normal life with Ben during autumn and winter."

"It's better than doing it all year, every day," Kurt nodded.

"And cooler," Spidey mused.

Cat looked at Parker. "You're uncharacteristically quiet."

The young man was fascinated by the conversation transpiring in front of him. "This is the craziest moment of my life, and that says a lot— but you're all sounding like this happens all the time..." he locked eyes with her. "If it sounds like it could work and you wanna try, I'm all in."

Cat looked at her friends. "What's your idea, exactly?"

"We put magic into that," Harley pointed at the beeper on Parker's wrist. "Wanda thinks she can make it so Ben's world doesn't get any worse. Instead of crawling through a rupture, she could build a door that opens and closes whenever you want."

"That sounds risky."

"If you're dumb and careless," Harley raised a brow. "But you're the most paranoid woman I know, I'm sure you'll take the necessary precautions."

A feeling of vindication washed over her, reassuring her. She'd picked the right people to work with. "Okay. Let's try that. Thank you."

"It's what friends are for," Spidey got up and pointed at Parker. "You come with us. Edith has to scan your beeper so she makes a new one for Cat."

"What about Cat?" Parker asked, walking towards his variant.

"Don't worry, pretty boy, she's just coming with me for a moment. Dad will be here any moment to pick me up," Kurt looked at Wanda and bowed briefly, his expression softening a bit. "Pleasure to meet you all..."

"When did you have time to do all the shit you did?" Cat frowned. "Brought Yelena and Wanda, called Rocket, packed your things..."

"I can be fast when I want to," he smirked.

"So fast you already got something going on with Wanda, huh?"

He laughed. "She's cute, but I'm going to space so..."

Cat patted his shoulder. "You can come sometimes, ask her on dates— she can astral project, you know?"

"Mimi?"

"What?"

"Mind your damn business," Kurt chortled.

Kate and Harley joined them, both as bummed out as Cat. Now the group would be incomplete most of the time, and they would have to get used to it.

"You have to call often," Kate demanded.

"You know, as weird as the circumstances are, I always knew you two would go to chase some bigger purpose in the end," Harley put an arm around Cat's shoulders and squeezed. "At least things are ending on a happy note."

"Not ending," Cat said. "Remember when I went to live in space? We'll come back, Kurt and I. But I won't kill people behind your back this time."

"I won't sleep with you as a farewell gift either," he grinned.

"Yuck," Kurt made a face. "It's gross how you two had stuff with Mimi— I don't see what the big deal is."

"Because you met me before I could master my charm. If we'd met as teens, you would've fallen straight into my trap."

"So there is a God."

"And he hates nerds and lesbians," Harley added humorously.

Her friends laughed, but the sound of a spacecraft silenced them. When the ship landed, the very distinct figures of a raccoon and a gigantic Groot came out from it.

"Took you long enough!" Kurt shouted. "Was there traffic in space or what?"

"Look who you're talking to like that!" Rocket pointed a sharp finger at him. "Need I remind ya you work for me?"

"I work with you."

Rocket stopped a couple of feet away and glanced at Cat. "And you?"

"And me what?" She grinned.

Rocket huffed and muttered to Groot. "You don't talk to your kids for a few months and suddenly you're not even worth a greeting— can you believe your siblings, Groot?"

"You're not my father, Rat."

"Come say that to my face!"

Cat got closer, but only to pull him up into a hug, she closed her eyes tightly and squeezed him. "You good?"

Rocket patted her back, he chuckled quietly. "All good, toddler. I might even be happy."

"You deserve it, Captain."

"I want a hug too!" Kurt sneaked his way in and embraced them both. "Ahh... this is nice!"

"If you ever need me, you know where to find me," Cat tilted her head up and kissed Kurt's temple.

"I love you so much," he squeezed her shoulders. "You guys are family."

"Your family's about to get bigger," Rocket informed him. "Come meet the New Guardians..."

"Say hi to Nebula," Cat leaned her head on Kurt's shoulder, giving him one last squeeze. "And have fun."

"You too," Kurt smiled. "Remember you have friends in space, and you're welcome to join if your thing with Ben doesn't work out."

"Who's Ben?"

"Her boyfriend."

"I thought she was dating a Matt!"

"That was years ago, you clueless Raccoon."

Rocket scoffed. "Mutants move on too quickly."

Cat chortled. "If only..."

Bimonthly Media Roundup

- Blue Eye Samurai (TV) - Heard a lot of buzz around this and decided to check it out with my family, which in hindsight I do not recommend doing (Lots of sex). While I'm not sure I agree with everyone who put it on the top of their best of 2023 lists as it's currently incomplete story and slight tonal issues don't lend it to masterpiece status, I do see the hype - I quite liked it. The art direction was incredible and Mizu's character design and presentation were peak, It was engaging throughout with a lot of good dialogue and reveals, and the fight choreography was fire. I might do a rewatch sometime soon as I think it lends itself well to one.

- Pokemon Legends Arceus (Video Games) - Played while on vacation, mostly during the plane rides, in order to finish up some quests I had unknowingly forgot post game. It was fun to revisit, though I don't quite want to replay it anytime soon. Anyway I still really like a lot of the hisuain designs and animations even if the games visuals weren't exactly top notch.

- The Gray Man (Movie) - Vacation watch with my dad, mediocre action movie with a decent premise but lackluster end. Chris Evans was clearly having fun so good for him and I did like how often they switched locations but overall the movie was pretty predictable with not a lot of interesting characters or themes or anything. Still it was fine, nothing offense just nothing deep.

- The S classes that I Raised (Webcomic) - Yup yup.

- Cyberpunk Edgerunners (Anime) - Not much to say yet but I like the animation style and instrumentals so far.

- Delicious in Dungeon (Anime) - Lovely so far, makes me very hungry while watching and as a fellow monster lover Laois being an autistic boy with a monster hyper-fixation is great. I've been told the world-building here is really great and the story gets surprisingly complex so looking forward to that, though I like the simplicity and gradual details of these first episodes as well.

- Mage and Demon Queen (Webcomic) - Still reading, still cute.

- One Piece (Anime) - Going through a little bit slower thanks to a one week vacation to Arizona, but we've made it through the Time Skip and Fishman Island arc. I am excited to see the New World and everyone's new abilities, but I'm pretty disappointed in how almost all of the time skip designs are downgrades from the originals - why are they all so white?? Oh well at least they change outfits frequently. Fishman Island was fine, I think it dragged quite a bit and the villain was lame but I like Jinbe and getting more world lore and downtime with the straw hats.

- Genshin Impact (Video Game) - Was happy to see some Yanfei crumbs in the last event, looking forward to Lantern Rite.

hello!! i am back and on desktop this time. the blog is just as pretty. alex + yellow = v v attractive jfc. this is a long one so buckle in.

to begin: i hope you have the most fun on your day road trip and sing your heart out to atl and taylor swift. i love driving long distances and idk just driving in general is fun. have the absolute best time MWAH

my birthday is in november!! november 23 to be specific. i share it with miley cyrus which is something i always found to be very cool when i was growing up and watching hannah montana. it also means i am a sagittarius and funny little fact i realized is that my best friend is a gemini. alex and jack are also a sagittarius and a gemini. from being 13 i know that tyler and josh from twenty one pilots are also a sagittarius and a gemini. something about sagittarius and gemini besties idk.

also yeah!! ao3 year in review!! it's a bit complicated to figure out at first and if you read a lot the finding pages thing can be pretty tedious, but it's def worth it once you figure it out. it gives you a lot of different stats about everything you read and it's pretty cool. now i am going to go look at your fics to remember my favs. you deserve the praise so i am willing to offer it. jeez you write a lot i respect the motivation sm. you write quite a bit of angst and i won't lie i try to stay away from angst so i haven't read your fics that seem super angst-y based on the tags. BUT there are still so many i recall reading and loving nonetheless. on a quick scroll-through: i usually don't read high school AUs but "paint me in trust (i'll be your best friend)" was super adorable and lovely. "thank god i'm yours" is one of my favs iirc. also i love love love "it's not always easy (but i'm here forever)" like yes please romanticize alex gaskarth i love it sm. "i won't be silent (and i won't let go)" and "i fell asleep in a city that doesn't" are both super fluffy and romantic and are favs of mine. in case you haven't picked up on it i adore very fluffy and romantic fics lmao. alright i am continuing to scroll and there are so many more i could list that i love but this section is getting quite long. just know if it's about a kitchen or hotel rooms being for lovers i probably read it and adored it and that pov is so valid.

waterparks!! will not lie i only really started listening to them about 6 months ago having been distantly aware of their existence for several years by being a fan of bands in the same genre. listen as long as you let yourself be vaguely annoyed by awsten is prevents you from being in love with him. follow him on any social media platform for like a day and you'll be sick of him typing in nothing but all caps within hours. simply do not romanticize him and you can keep yourself from falling!! so this is coming from a slightly fake parx fan, but some of my favs by them have been peach (lobotomy), crave, numb, fuzzy, violet!, you'd be paranoid too, and lowkey as hell. that is a very songs-from-their-most-recent-album-heavy rec, but whatever. i did give the disclaimer about being a fake parx fan.

yeah hayley does have 2 solo albums now!! petals for armor and flowers for vases / descansos. pfa is the one i didn't really like upon first listen but has grown on me. i haven't even listened to the second one in its entirety oops but we won't mention it. dead horse is good but simmer (pretty sure that was the other single??) just ain't it for me. the album has some lovely songs but it's just a hit or miss album all the way through. some favs of mine on it include pure love, taken, crystal clear, watch me while i bloom, and why we ever. it's sorta a storyline album about healing if that adds anything to it?? but anyways. i started listening to paramore around the time after laughter dropped and it grew to be one of my fav albums in existence. idle worship is probably one of my fav songs like ever. i def understand being slightly put off by bands with songs that make religious references (me with twenty one pilots' earlier music that makes a lot more religious references considering i'm not religious whatsoever) but i think i am blinded by being in love with hayley williams and just ignore it. idk that she's like super religious?? she's addressed believing in god and stuff a few times but she's def not the "rub it in your face" type and if she's making refs in music more recently then they're subtle enough i'm not noticing them. ik albums like brand new eyes had a lot more because it was shortly after that the band split and the songwriting process was essentially her and ex-bandmate co-songwriter arguing about their religious beliefs (turns out he ended up being super homophobic and transphobic all based on his religion so do with that what u will and thank the clown for leaving). i feel u on the "i meant to start listening to them" because that's essentially how i started listening to them. i told myself i was going to and then finally forced myself to do it. fuck falling for awsten knight what's more risky is falling in love with hayley </3

also yeah!! you've articulated my feelings towards tde. every song is so vastly different that it's hard to like it all. #1 fan is pretty decent though, and that's not just my bias about finding both ross and his gf hot and a cute couple and getting to see them together and ross half naked in a mirror in the video nope not at all. he's my fav himbo!! he has no personality!! no thoughts head empty!! i still love him and his strawberry-growing saga on twitter tho <3 the hazard of being in love with ross lynch since i was 12. girlfriend better be a fucking banger and there's quite a few already released singles in the tracklist so i have hope. i believe my show is in chicago on november 19 which is a thursday. kinda sucks since i intentionally bought the chicago tix nearly two years ago (the show was originally supposed to be april 25 2020. lol.) because the show was on a saturday and i have to drive 3 hours to get there. obviously i can't speak for them as tde but r5 shows always fucking slapped and i can vouch for them (realized i haven't seem them live since 2016?? 5 YEARS?? wtf) so if u genuinely like them. would recommend going to see them.

anyways. i have not listened to luke's solo album yet. i plan on it. this has gotten so long but i tried to respond in all areas and even organized it in different paragraphs this time (thanks being on desktop!!). hope you are well. hope you have a lovely day. hmm what's a little "going on in my life" fact. i got new glasses a few days ago and my eyes essentially said fuck off because adjusting to the new prescription has left me with eyes that hurt and occasionally slightly nauseous. here is to hoping my eyes get their shit together. mwah LOVE YOU TOO - the other bella/cubs anon/idk

aha! well i tried the ao3 year in review thing and i would say it had about 55% accuracy but still i agree it's fun to look back at that kind of stuff. and i feel you on the angst thing i go through phases of writing angst-heavy stuff and then writing very fluffy stuff and it is entirely based on my mental state buuuut i have lots of fluff and i'm glad you found it all and that you liked it yay <333 KITCHENS ARE FOR LOVERS i will die on that fuckin hill. hotel rooms as well but primarily kitchens.

dfgjhgdlfkhgdfmj honestly i dont use twitter enough that i would see his tweets enough that that would bother me also the fact that he tweets in all caps means that i just picture him yelling everything he tweets which i find absolutely hysterical so i don't think that would help. i have added these parx songs to my listen asap playlist and will get to them when i get a chance thank you i am excited also i already know lowkey as hell and it slaps super hard so im very much lookin forward to the rest of these. merci merci

YEAH simmer was the one i didnt vibe with. and honestly i feel zero compulsion to get into hayley williams as a solo artist. i just don't vibe enough to want to do that so i doubt i'll be listening to her anytime soon but maybe if i hear the songs in passing or get super bored one night, idk who can really say. but yeah christianity typically puts me off of music (speaking as a very jewish bitch) although there are notable exceptions in the cases of thomas rhett and the driver era. i'm just not attached to hayley enough to be like ehhh this doesnt matter. does that make sense

FAVORITE HIMBO PLEASE HGSDFGDFGKLFGJ i dont follow him on twitter but i have seen some interviews of ross and rocky and tbh they're great i love the way ross speaks like i like his speech mannerisms and i like his FACE and HAIR and. yeah. i think hes pretty. and i think he and 5sos SHOULD collab i think that would be sexy as hell. can you imagine that. oh my god can you imagine a ross lynch/luke hemmings collab. i'm not even really talking to you anymore bella because i know you haven't listened to luke yet and don't have a stake in it but if anyone else is reading this long ass answer. ross & luke collab. okay im going to move on and not think about that now. but i probably won't see tde unless i get a job this semester because i'm trying to stop spending so much money on big indulgent things like concerts likeee i was in a really good habit of not spending that much and then suddenly i got paid for one summer and i was just goin Crazy and i need to dial it back. plus i wanna see ajr and noah kahan equally bad so like. i have to make some calls about priorities here. it's Much to think about

Billboard USA Exclusion Zone Episode 24 (02/10/2024)

Yes I skipped a week and it's very much because last week was the worst one that I might reviewed on this show and for my mental health sake I don't want to put through David Kushner doing yet another bad Hozier impression or Benson Boone making Weezer late 2010s album cut with bad case of Lukas Grahamism. But I am more excited for this week because of a lot of shall we say Tea about this week's chart. And we actually don't start with the one that you know about, but with the one that's actually showed how fucked late stage capitalism is like. Kinda funny because it came from the band that have the lyrics "my boob and booty's hot".

50. "Wife" by (G)I-DLE

So apparently this song was banned in SBS...because of how indecent it is. Bro you know how very much divided your country is when it comes to gender issues that a nothing burger of a song that has slight tinged of feminism in it is banned because of how indecent it is. South Korea I think you need to relax here.

95. "Praise Jah In The Moonlight" by YG Marley

So there's gonna be a Bob Marley biopic soon and seems like there's a lot of hype for the movie because his grandson's song got a viral hit with this song, making it the biggest reggae song charted since...Rude? Anyways unlike that song, this one is pure and uncut reggae which means you'll probably get the full experience if you smoke weed. I'll probably try listen to the song again with cigs but for now it's good. Also this was co-written by his mom...his mom is Lauryn Hill.

96. "Selfish" by Justin Timberlake

The fact that Justin Timberlake could now be considered as a legacy act...kinda stoked me. Well until I listened to his new singles here which...yeah this song is definitely what would a Justin Timberlake song would sound like in 2024 aka gutless and swampy.

102. "Super Lady" by (G)I-DLE

...I think Queencard might be a fluke.

104. "HISS" by Megan Thee Stallion

Alright now for the main course of the supper. I have been an avid fan of Megan ever since 2019 but I think this might be her best song to date. Also I love the fact that this song charted here and not the Nicki's response to it. Proving that people worldwide care and support Megan more than Nicki in this case (also thank god the world over still don't know who or what a Tom MacDonnald is). But yeah all the bars here connect, the beat is just the right amount of minimalist and menace. My favorite part of this song is actually that underlying bass melody. It added to the menace and venom that she spew and it worked. I know this won't last here but I'm glad that Megan exist at all.

113. "La Intencion" by Christian Nodal ft. Peso Pluma

I feel like with time a lot of corridos tumbados would refined their production and I believe this is the best produced song that I heard for the genre. It felt more tuneful and the vocal production here is clearer than ever. If say the lyrics isn't as bad this would be an all timer in corridos tumbados scene.

172. "M.A.I" by Milo j

I love it when a typical reggaeton or latin rap act would make something that sounds like something that Noah Kahan would make and it actually charted. Still waiting for the day Bad Bunny make his nu-metal song.

181. "DASH" by NMIXX

Why does this sounds like a remix between Wish I Knew You and Dang! But I'm not complaining because I think more K-Pop band should do these type of jazzy sound. I love the slap bass here and the outro is...wait was that drum n bass???

192. "Si Sabe Ferxxo" by Blessd ft. Feid

I still don't know why Feid is still here to be honest.

I highly recommend everyone to listen to these songs.
