There might be a few spoilers for the books if anyone hasn't read them!!

So I read the books a while ago and I was absolutely in love with them and then I heard the series was coming out and I was so fucking excited bro u have no clue. I was out of town when it came out and the second I got home I immediately watched it. I nearly cried like thirty times and half the time I was just kicking my feet in the air and giggling like a maniac.

When Nick came out to his mum I nearly cried because he was so nervous to tell her and I wanted to just wrap him up in a hug and I'm so glad she did. His entire journey of realising he was bisexual and coming to terms with it was weirdly personal to me and the scene where he was taking the "am i gay" quizzes made me cry. The look on his face when he was typing it up and the way he was so hesitant to even write the words, and then when he got his results the tears in his eyes I- just oh my goddjfjfjc. I love Kit (Nick's actor) sm because he managed to portray the panic and fear so well, when he was with his (douchebag) friends and his (amazing) mum. I literally cheered when he punched Harry in the face it was incredible. He should have thrown Ben in the trash, where he belongs, instead of just out the door. We stan bisexual himbos in this house and that is Exactly what Nick is I just skdjdjjdjfjf. He's so protective of Charlie but so respectful of him too and I love him so much oh my goddd 😭

Ok so I wrote like a giant paragraph on Charlie but apparently it didn't save to my drafts which is fuckin annoying. Anyway I just adore him and how soft he is and how even though he's soft he’s also a bitch and I love that for him. The entire time he was anywhere near Ben I wanted to yank him back by his collar and shove him behind me. Like he was just so happy because he thought someone liked him, but then he was just using him and grrjfkfkgkgkgk I want to rip him to shreds. Anyway idk if you've read the books yet but Charlie has a pretty shitty time with his mental health, so everytime I saw the way he reacted around food I screamed internally. Like even though I know it's going to happen, and if they make a second season I know it will probably be centred around that I'm just like, so not ready for it ahhh. The way he loves Nick I wanna cry he's head over heels. I saw something that said Charlie fell first but Nick fell harder and like so true. He's so ahhhdhdjgkkggkkhkhkkjkkjjkkjkgjgk. Yes 👍👍👍✨✨✨👍✨👍😭😭😭✨

TARA AND DARCY TARA AND DARCY TARA AND DARCY 😭😭😭 Darcy is Me istg. I am Darcy. I love her so much and she's so chaotic and ahhhhjfkfkf. Tara is so soft and I'm so sorry she has to put up with Darcy's shit but she still loves her so much and Darcy absolutely adores Tara and when they were in the music room and Tara was talking about how everyone was treating her differently after she came out even though she was the exact same person, i felt that in my soul. I love them so much and if they make season 2 I'm so excited for the Paris trip lmaoooo. Like Darcy getting super drunk is going to be so so funny. And Tara talking to Charlie when everyone else gets icecream I Will Cry.

Don’t get me started on Elle and Tao I love them so much (if anyone starts headcanoning Tao as anything other than straight I’m gonna throw hands). The mutual pining I just wanna slam their heads together /hj. Them not wanting to confess in case it ruins them is so valid but also c’mon. Just kiss or something 😭😭😭. Also the fact that Tao grew his hair out in solidarity assdlfssgkjgdjgd. That might be why the tips of his hair were curled weirdly? It’s too long for the dress code but no one can tell because he curled it?? Idk. They’re just so. ah. I’m tired and in love with them all and if they don’t get the happy ending they deserve I’m gonna cry.

Agathas casting + Sofia Wylie

hi I just chugged 2 redbulls, ranted to my friend for like an hour about this because the amount of absolute disrespect and just plain racism i've seen about the casting infuriates me. so here are some of the comments i've seen and my opinion/reaction to them (this is literally just a passionate brain explosion done quite late at night -10pm- and vv quickly so I apologise if some points are missing/worded weirdly!!)

“she isn’t how she looks in the books” || “i’m all for diversity but [🙄] why did they make the pale one a POC” || “it doesn’t make sense for agatha to be played by a black actress”

for those saying it doesn't make sense for agatha to be plated by a black women,,, what are you talking about!!! IT ACTUALLY DOES THO???? if anything it makes more sense and adds more weight to her storyline and character arc! her entire arc is realising she has been beautiful ALL ALONG. its just her low self esteem and the impossibly and very eurocentric high beauty standards that's she's up against at the school for good & in Gavaldon keeping her down. having agatha being played by a WOC is perfect because that is something we unfortunatly have to face on a daily basis. it makes for a wider range of people to see agatha and her experiences and be able to relate to someone whose place in society mirrors their own. and isn’t that great??? SHOULDN’T WE WANT THAT????yes. we should.

as a WOC myself, when i found out the news I literally called my friend at like 8am to be like “HOLY SHIT :DDDD” its exciting!! i know that a lot of people loved agatha because they could relate to her and that's great! but you still have that!! book agatha isn’t going anywhere. she's still there! like i've said before, Sofia as agatha allows MORE people to be able to relate to her character. This is an amazing decision and these kind of changes in the adaptation should be welcomed and encouraged. i

and also you can’t just pick and choose what characters can/cannot be black. that literally makes 0 sense and isn’t how it works. having agatha - one of the films lead- as a WOC is a big deal and suggesting that instead have the side characters have diverse actors infuriates me. why does it have to be a side character??? it makes as much sense for agatha to be black as it does any other side character and sofia is perfect!

ALso Soman (who first published SGE in 2013) probably just used whatever beauty standards at the time and ran with it. but hey, it's literally 2020 and if this year has taught us anything it's that times are changing! casting a diverse lead for a book that has a predominantly white cast reflects that change! its great! tbh before the casting news, i was very apprehensive about the movie because of some of the problematic themes and events that occur but this casting is the step in the right direction! it shows that at least on some level the people making the movie are all aware of its wrongdoings and adapting the movie to better fit and reflect a wider audience in 2020.which is what we all (or at least should) want!!

“She doesnt have straight black hair so she can’t possibly play agatha”

first of all her hair is gorgeous!!! and does it really matter that she wont have straight hair??? will you die if one fictional character doesn't have straight hair?? no. you won't. and she shouldn’t have to straighten, use relaxers or wear a wig to play the role. hollywood has a long standing history of making diverse (predominantly Black!!) actresses having to fit Eurocentric beauty standards LIKE having straight hair. and using relaxes can also be a really traumatising and degrading experience for black women and its unfair for people demand that she can only play agatha if she “fixes” her hair. and yea again it has some very racist undertones. but dudes this is HAIR we’re talking about people. it's such a stupid finicky detail to hyperfocus on that won’t even affect the plot or the movie in any big way. I for one would love to see Sofia play Agatha with her beautiful, gorgeous, natural hair!

we all have our different interpretations and visions of agatha and that's ok! but with that and the movie you have to be realistic. there is no way they could’ve casted the ‘perfect’ agatha. even if they did stick to her book descriptions. you can't please everyone and people will always have opinions and something to say about it

“I can’t see her as agatha because of her previous disney roles”

bruh it's called acting. and you know another famous actress known for the classic disney roles and is now an emmy award winning actress?? ZenDAYA. yea. stfu. we haven’t even seen them in their full costumes or anything, hell this is really the first big information that we’ve had! give it some time,,, lets see the rest of the cast, the costumes, the sets and THEN decide if “she's not my agatha” c’mon guys!! she's insanely talented (a triple threat at 16!!!) and criticising her casting of agatha based on one photo - which literally says nothing about her performance- does have some severe racist undertones no matter how many times you try to defend yourself using the classic “i’m not racist but-” excuse.

The people who casted her are literal professionals. they do this for a LIVING and have been for ages. SO ofc they would’ve casted the perfect person for the role. these are the same people who casted Harry Potter. pls just have faith in the process. they don’t want the movie to be a flop any more than we do. they picked her for a reason and i'm sure that in time we will see the exact same reasons they do

“I wanted asian agatha so i’m very disappointed in this casting”

I get it, I do but honestly,, c’mon dude A WIN FOR ONE OF US IS A WIN FOR ALL!! all minorities are all severely underrepresented in hollywood rn and idk about y’all but i’m taking this as a massive win for all us POC regardless of whether she's black, brown or asian.

“Sofias too beautiful” || “Agatha's supposed to be ugly >:(”

Agatha has literally been “beautiful all along”. the problem isn’t that she's ugly, its just that she's had impossibly low self esteem and doesn't see herself that way because of the impossibly high (mostly eurocentric) beauty standards she's held against. and with the ugly casting??? you really want them to put out a casting call specifically calling for someone ugly?? what would that even entail?? dudes The Lord of the Rings TV show tried that shit here in NZ a lil bit ago and it did NOT go down well lmao. you can’t just cast an ‘ugly’ person. also ‘hollywood’ ugly is still hot (e.g She's all That ) so idk what you guys were expecting????

pls remember Sofia is literally 16 (!!!!), she's so young and must’ve been SO excited to have gotten this role!! and if we can see all these comments, she definitely can so just be kind. ok

Sofia is absolutely gorgeous and the perfect agatha and i’m very excited to see more of her ❤️

(1/2) Ahhh hello!! I’ve now finished both the short story and fugitive telemetry and both were once again amazing!! This series is too good I am Yelling!!!

I loved reading abt mb and the whole setting from mensah’s perspective and the insight the story gave into her character!! YES what you say abt the media is so true - even mensah, who’s very informed and critical abt the corporation, admits that the propaganda worked on her, and the impact the documentary could have in dismantling that. I also loved how her relationship w mb is portrayed!! They way they care for each other is so good - not just pitying each other but with obvious concern for their trauma and wellbeing. To see that mensah respects and finds mb as dependable as it much as it thinks so of her… ahhh ;-;

FT was also amazing n it was great to read this in chronological order, thanks for the recommendation!! It was interesting how this book showed mb’s difficulties in gaining others on preservation’s trust, how even tho it’s a more accepting place than the corporation rim, there were still challenges, again bc of the pervasiveness of propaganda and the wrongful use of secunits in the corporation. It was nice to see how mb dealt with this of its own volition, and how Indah started to come around by working n interacting w mb, and the presaux team’s advocation too

(2/2) And YES I just love the presaux team sm n it was great to see how their relationship n understanding w mb has developed in FT!! I also love how they’ve been fleshed out more as characters, n mb’s dynamics w pin lee, ratthi, and gutharin r too good :’) I also rly enjoyed this book bc it had lots of mb being Super Extremely Exasperated with humans which is always fun to read :’DDD Now for network effect!!! I’m excited but also sad it’s almost over ahhhh, also i have to say it’s been super fun discussing this with you!! :DDDD

YEAH mensah's perspective adds SO MUCH for such a brief bit of story. they respect each other and rely on each other so much ;-;

FT slaps like i love love love a good murder-of-the-week style story SO MUCH so it was really just delicious to have that in a mb book. it shows so well that just because preservation is better, it still has its own unique issues and theres still unfair distrust and lack of understanding

YEAAAAH THOSE ARE MY FAVOURITE PRESAUX DYNAMICS TOO... they all show a different side to mb which i love? ratthi's unconditional support, pin lee's no-nonsense acceptance, and gurathin's tendency to poke and prod all reveal something different in their interactions and in how mb reacts and responds which is so fun. i love when characters interact with each other. absolutely stellar

ANYWAY YES i hope youre enjoying NE and please let me know your Final Review :DDD

Last night on P5 Scramble:

Mood whiplash, yelling about winter clothes, and Yusuke being Yusuke.

So a while ago Bun described Akira Konoe as “Japanese Tony Stark”, and I laughed, but now, uh.......

Yeah, that’s just Japanese Tony Stark. XDDDD If this guy isn’t the Pride Jail Monarch, I’ll be very surprised. He doesn’t seem like a bad guy, but... Well. That doesn’t mean anything.

I’m going to kick his ass. There’s only room for one Akira in this game. :P

I do not trust this woman. Not in the slightest. She’s either nefarious or a complete airhead. “Lemme just follow the Phantom Thieves and ask them eight billion questions that are none of my business. That’s definitely trustworthy behavior.”

I’m the leader; my friends should not be able to override my decision to run for it. :(

The stupid part is, they really do tell her everything. The cognitive world, changes of heart, Sophia... Futaba even agrees to send her Sophia’s code after they make a deal! I mean, she’s Emma’s creator! Why are we trusting her after five minutes, kids?! Especially when she says shit like this!

She reminds me very much of how I wrote Wakaba for Intermezzo. 100% focused on the knowledge and the possibilities, oblivious to the consequences. She’s so excited that her fancy app can access another world, that the fact that it’s hurting people is an afterthought.

She also reacted weirdly to Sophia’s name. So until further notice, I don’t trust her.

(It’s kind of funny. I trust Zenkichi more than her, and the game went out of its way to show us that Zenkichi is “using” us. X’D)

A small detour before we get on the road to Sapporo: P5S is out here feeding the Shukita shippers some good food.

Yusuke pretty much says, “If you say so...” XD

Yusuke also continues his trend of being the Thief most likely to discuss stripping.

(He’s talking about sleeping in the stuffy tent on top of the camper.)

Anyway, we’re off to Sapporo, in Hokkaido! It’s much cooler up north, and the city seems very pretty. Not as cool as the Tanabata decorations in Sendai, but nice nonetheless. They have a tower (that I am not allowed to go up, damn it), and food trucks near the camper parking.

I was having a grand time laughing at the difference between “Corn” and “Corn!”, and then immediately afterwards got a cutscene about a small child and her mother leaving flowers for another small child who had died in an accident. Pretty sure I stopped mid-laugh because what even.

And then it was immediately back to levity because the Thieves are off to the fancy bathhouse.

Fortunately, no one did anything weird, although we did have an uncomfortable moment of listening to Futaba being awkward. But that was quickly smoothed over by Yusuke being Yusuke. Once again.

Never change, Yusuke.

Anyway, Haru knows the mayor of Sapporo, who apparently used to visit her father and spend time with her as a child, which is a cute mental image. Unfortunately, Mayor Hyodo is the Monarch of Sapporo, so once again we have to target an important adult in Haru’s life. It will surely go better, this time. Placing bets on whether the accident in the park is related to the Jail forming.

And once again, the Jail is fantastic.

They are really going all-out with the potential for cool environments. I didn’t manage to get a screenshot of the main ice castle, because it was during a cutscene, but oh my gosh I love this. I’m also fascinated by the idea that this is the first time an environment inside a cognitive space could be an actual problem. Like... Futaba’s desert was fine once they got into the actual Pyramid. In this case, they have to wander around in the freezing temperatures. It doesn’t affect the gameplay, but it would be so interesting if it did.

From the giant knives and forks everywhere, I’m assuming Mariko Hyodo is Gluttony’s Monarch. Which... the giant knives and forks are a little bit literal for my taste. It also reinforces my theory that we’re going in the same order of Sins from P5, but disproves that each PT corresponds to the same one, since this is Haru’s and not Makoto’s.

There’s a point during exploration where a massive snowstorm hits and makes it hard to see, and traps you in the Jail, which is also cool. It’s making me want to do an Hours version of Scramble just so I can mess with all these fiddly details (and also throw more weird stuff at Zenkichi).

The things that made me yell the loudest, though, were the snowmen.

I mean, there’s one Jack Frost snowman (and now I know where the avalanche of Jack Frosts probably lives).

But the rest of the snowmen are dressed like this???

A whole army of them???

Atlus??? Why?????

I know this probably means absolutely nothing but... You could have used any other scarf color or stripe, but you used the Scarf?

Are we going to freeze to death in this Jail? X’‘‘‘DDDD

We’ve escaped the Jail for now; hopefully next time I can get a good picture of the castle. And omg I hope Mariko turns into some kind of really cool ice fae monster thing. :D

Second ‘When Christ and His Saints Slept’ reaction post (part one here), covering chapters 11 to 20 aka the bit where I start shipping actual historical figures for the first time ever (other than Wars of the Roses-era people, but that’s different because they were actually married and it wasn’t a ship ship in the same way these are. Anyway.)

Chapters XI and XII:

Annora and Ranulf still love each other :) and they found a loophole so they can get married when Maude's queen! I really should've remembered about that plight-troth. Now a bit worried about all the ways this could go wrong, not least because I'm aware Maude doesn't become queen, but that was really sweet and I'm glad they're happy and things have been resolved (ish)

UGH, GEOFFREY. He's being awful about Maude and Henry's overhearing :(

Between the odd mentions of her here and what little I know about her historically, I'm so excited for when Eleanor of Aquitaine shows up!

Whoops, Chester. Genuine anger and a lack of mercy from Stephen may be a rare thing, but I have a feeling this has crossed the line.

I like it when Maude has interactions with people she likes and trusts - her brothers, Adeliza, and now Brien. It's good.

...okay I might be starting to ship this.

Oh dear I'm definitely shipping this. It's impossible and a mess and they both (Maude especially) seem like they'd rather be swallowed by the earth than actually admit to feelings, but it's so sweet and they trust each other so much and must have such a long shared history? Help?

And also lbr this is just That One Dynamic that absolutely kills me in every piece of media. The mutual trust, the quiet but unbreakable loyalty, the circumstances making things so difficult for them? This is absolutely my thing.

This might be the first time I've actually shipped people who existed. Like, there were some good moments in TSiS but all with people who were actually couples in real life. But with this, I don't know many of the specifics, I have no idea what happens to Brien and only know slightly more about Maude. This is strange.

AAAAAHH. Maude you can't do this to my heart. You just can't.

Chapter XIII:

I like Robert.

Hmmm. Looking at both sides' chances in this battle, and knowing Stephen gets captured at some point during the Anarchy, I have a feeling I know how this will end.

Why does it feel like the awful déjà vu of this part was intentional. This is making me have Bosworth-related emotions all over again.

Okay, wow, that was all quite a lot to take in. Chester's plan was good, and I'm grateful that he saved Robert; wasn't expecting William of Ypres of all people to flee*; Stephen's determination is also making me remember Bosworth in TSiS; I liked the bit with him and Robert and Ranulf at the end.

Chapters XIV and XV:

Maude :')

Matilda just found out about Stephen :(

Maude's going to have trouble winning over the people. London's apparently still loyal to Stephen, and their favour was often an advantage in struggles like this war (looking at you, Edward IV)

I'm feeling more sorry for Constance with every scene she's in or mentioned. Things just keep getting worse for her.

William de Ypres just showed up; Matilda is (understandably) furious about the Battle of Lincoln and letting him know it.

Alliance time! This is one of the things I was vaguely aware of before starting the book, and the anticipation of it has been a lot of fun. Also, I like how honest he’s being here - he made a choice, realised/decided it was the wrong one, and is making no excuses, instead being clear that he wants to try and make things right. The contrast with, say, Bishop Henry’s total lack of self-awareness (or maybe it’s wilful ignorance?) about his moral bankruptcy is wonderful.

Chapters XVI and XVII:

My ship! They're interacting!

HAND. KISSES. My weakness. I know they're the norm and not necessarily romantic at this time but still.

I am deceased. This ship has killed me and they've only had two direct conversations.

Bishop Henry is possibly about to switch sides. Again. I ought to keep track of who’s betrayed both sides the most times (probably him right now).

It's been four months since Matilda joined forces with William de Ypres to try and save Stephen, I wonder what they've been up to? (They haven’t been mentioned in the novel since then)

I love this conversation for so many reasons. Most of which involve Maude and Brien because apparently now I’ve dedicated my life to being emotional about them.

Okay, so based on Northumberland's thoughts:

hmmm, new ship?

they're using nicknames they're being familiar this feels like a Big Deal for people in their position at that time. It’s certainly a level of informality that very few others have in the book so far.

Wait they just mentioned a Thomas Becket. Is he that Thomas Becket? I know his feud was with Henry II, whose reign begins in about fourteen years, so it's possible.

I love every mention of the chronicles. It's really cool having the regular narration of the novel interspersed with little pieces of old accounts.

I also love the little moments like Ypres here and his quiet admiration of/confidence in Matilda.

Chapter XVIII:

Not content to just leave me to deal with my feelings from the last few pages, the chapter opens with this:

Immediately following that last part, we now switch to Matilda’s thoughts about de Ypres? He’s trying to hide his exhaustion and she’s not having it? Literally standing over him to make sure he eats? Fond??? Yup, I'm definitely invested in it now. These relationships will be the death of me.

And he's just found out about their alliance!

The guard saying "No one knows how your lady won him over" before being cut off is just really funny. I'm just picturing all of England in total confusion about how Matilda managed to get this cynical, battle-scarred mercenary's unwavering loyalty after Stephen couldn't manage the same. Just. The entire country, collectively looking at this alliance and going '???'

...I have become hopelessly obsessed. This book has two ships that are my favourite dynamic. Two. This is turning into Code Geass all over again.

(The dynamic is "mutual trust, admiration and respect; if there are romantic feelings, they might be ambiguous and possibly not acted on for any one of a number of reasons, most of which can be summed up as ‘external circumstances getting in the way’; absolute loyalty through thick and thin; help each other grow and get through difficulty; one or both is probably also a little scarred by the world". Bonus points if they have a long history, or any period of time spent together that’s not fully described in canon and can therefore be speculated about.)

(also “the one man she trusted not to lie to her” is sweet but it’s also kind of upsetting that Matilda’s surrounded by allies and yet knows she can’t fully trust most of them)

Some of my favourite ships are the ones where I don’t even know if I see it as platonic or romantic, just that these people have such deep affection and trust for each other and it’s wonderful. This is absolutely one of those ships.

I’ve not written anything about the destruction(s) of Winchester, mainly because this book is once again difficult to put down, but suffice to say that it’s pretty harrowing. Seeing things from the perspectives of Maude and Matilda, who haven’t witnessed this side of the war up close before and are feeling responsible for everything awful that’s happening, as well as Ranulf, who’s similarly horrified and hasn’t seen this kind of destruction before, possibly makes it even worse. Also I love the occasional scenes from the point of view of ordinary citizens – it really makes the wider effects of this civil war between cousins sink in. This may have begun as a personal tragedy for Maude, Stephen and their loved ones, but it’s become a catastrophe affecting so many more people across England, Normandy, Anjou…the fact that the narrative brings in the thoughts of people from all across society in recognition of this is one of the things that makes this book so good imo.

Okay, so I’m getting very attached to quite a lot of these people and it’s occurred a few times that I don’t actually know the dates of death for anyone except Stephen. But because this is history and also the first book in a trilogy spanning many decades and the characters are (as far as I know) not immortal, they’re all going to die at some point. I just don’t know when. There is no way to be prepared for the sadness that this book and its sequels will bring.

At this point he should really just stop trying to break into nunneries. As Gilbert mentioned, it never seems to go well.

Wait, if they’re specifying not to kill Ranulf does that mean everyone else who was with him was killed? FEAR

That fire was awful. Although I’m going to keep in mind that Gilbert and Marshal are only dead according to the people outside the church – the narration moved away from them when Marshal lost his eye, so there’s still hope (albeit not much). Also, this really showed both sides of de Ypres – he’s managed to be merciful and ruthless in the same paragraph.

And Ranulf is free, but with a hefty dose of survivor’s guilt.

Awww, Maude’s really openly relieved he’s safe. Robert too.

Gilbert’s alive too! I’d suspected but wasn’t sure. Glad for him and Ranulf that they’ve got each other back.

*I’d known that he’d abandoned a battle at some point before allying with Matilda, but had thought that referred to his feud with Robert during the Normandy campaign, which was briefly mentioned earlier, so this came as a surprise.

Hatari in London...

(This is something I started writing after I got home today and am finishing now)

Holy shit. I’m somehow still alive. My voice is fucked, I smell horrific, my eyes and head hurt XD it was a short gig compared to what I’m used to unfortunately and it’s left me dying for more, but it was probably the most intense hour of my life :’D

It was 30+ degrees outside, high humidity, I was already feeling awful from baking to death on the train to London and the underground, so imagine that in a sold out gig with next to no air conditioning :’D we were fucking dripping before Hatari even came on. It took all of one minute of Einar playing the intro before there was sweat rolling down his face. Crazy fucker was in his full leather suit the whole time though! Kinda gotta respect that o__O Whereas Matti and Klemmy were both nakey boys. And because there was no barrier and Matti stands on the edge of the stage so he can loom over the crowd, he was pretty much above me the whole time (worth the neck ache) just spraying sweat onto us :’D and he screams with such ferocity too I already jokingly warned Teagan about the spray zone of spit :’D so tbh I'm just covered in Matthías until I get into the shower :’D I guess I can say he spat on me and called me scum, even if it was indirectly lol :’DDDD

I don’t think I saw Einar blink once, he looked so awesome lurking in the back with those freaky eyes! And I almost passed out from a combination of heat and excitement when I saw Klemens and Matthías come onto the stage. Seeing Klemens was like seeing a unicorn in real life :’D He’s fucking magical and precious and I would die for him. Also serious kudos are in order for that butt XD He does not give a single fuck who knows how perfect he is, and I adore him for that. And as for Matti... I just remember Teagan and I sharing this moment like “wow I was not ready for this” :’D Here’s something photos can’t fully prepare you for: He is GORGEOUS. LIKE AN ACTUAL SCULPTURE. My little ace heart was just fine not having any major crushes in years, now he’s ruined everything. Seriously what a handsome bastard :’D

Anyway, enough gushing. I couldn’t possibly pick a favourite song or performance, every single song I was like “OOH THIS ONE’S MY FAV”. Other random highlights was a guy randomly playing a violin and singing “Jerusalem” - I still have no fucking idea what the significance was but he was clearly a very skilled musician and I have major respect for him coming out and playing for a bunch of sweaty goths XD, the fucking raved up version of the BBC news theme tune and everyone booing when the “news reporter” mentioned Boris Johnson, Matti’s thick accent in English (despite speaking better English than most of England) combined with his poetic way with words holy shit it’s even more beautiful in person, Matti looking down and stifling a smile at us so he ended up looking like >8) instead of >8|, and Klemens pulling Matti’s hair, like he was just straight pulling his whole head back o__O Oh and is it just me or is Einar a motherfucking UNIT?! He’s so tall!! And just generally huge! Damn. I bet he gives great hugs *__* OH and I also just have to note how fucking funny it is hearing the whole crowd getting so into the “HÖH!”s in Klefi/Samed :’D Beautiful.

Only downside other than the short length of the gig (which I can’t blame them for anyway since they don’t have that many songs), was the lack of Andrean, Ástrós, and Sólbjört :C They were missed, but the stage was tiny so. I get it.

There was a nice lil after party too. Not gonna lie I’d hoped the guys would be there, I’m used to that with my other fav bands that they turn up and say hi, but that wasn’t the case. I didn’t know what to expect though so thankfully I didn’t get my hopes up XD There was a lot of other nice people in there though :3 So it was fun. And I got a few compliments on my Hatari collar ;)

Aaaaand I need to stop typing before I explode.

Obi-Wan took a breath, there in the dark of his room, feeling fingers slide over his skin. He’d forgone a sleeping shirt, it seemed pointless - they needed touch from him - and, anyway, with so many people curled so close, he was already overheating.

“Can I?” Mav asked, quiet, breath brushing across the back of Obi-Wan’s neck. “I heard you, earlier, but...” He trailed off, thumb brushing back and forth across skin as, around him, Obi-Wan got the feeling everyone else held their breath. Waiting.

Obi-Wan swallowed, heartbeat kicking up, exhaustion fading into the background as the careful connections between them shifted and lit up. He said, “Only if everyone else is interested.” Making any of them feel forced or uncomfortable would have been... a nightmare. Horrific.

He got a rush of heat in return, answering his question before anyone said a word, and shivered, gasping, as Mav took the opportunity to lean forward and--and perhaps first kisses told you a lot about a person, about how daring they were, about what they wanted, about their personality.

Mav kissed his neck, before he kissed anywhere else, lips soft and warm, sending a jolt of warmth right down Obi-Wan’s spine as his hand continued it’s slid forward and down.

BnHA Chapter 209: Proud Dads, Determined Rivals, and a Prison Interlude

Previously on BnHA: Team BakuJirouSatouSero scored a flawless 4-0 victory against Team TokaBondoAwaKama. Here’s how it went down: (1) Bakugou protected Jirou and everyone watching was like “holy shit did Bakugou just protect Jirou??” and his classmates were like “YES THAT JUST HAPPENED”; (2) Awase welded Bakugou to some columns with his quirk; (3) Satou used his own quirk to smash Bakugou free; (4) Jirou stunned Awase with her quirk and Sero tied him up; (5) Bakugou blasted Bondo and Satou restrained him afterward; (6) everyone watching was like “SO BAKUGOU DOES TEAMWORK NOW?!” and again his classmates were like “YES”; (7) Bakugou flung Kamakiri into a wall, which looked like it hurt, sorry Kamakiri; (8) we learned that Bakugou had given some extra grenades to his teammates and they’d used them to blow up a bunch of Tokage’s amputated body parts, forcing her to regenerate and use up her stamina; and finally, (9) the depleted Tokage flew right into Bakugou and he took her out with a (Point-Blank) Stun Grenade attack. Basically it was just Bakugou is Awesome: The Chapter. If I didn’t know any better I’d think I had fantasized this whole fucking thing you guys. THAT’S MY BOYYYY.

Today on BnHA: Aizawa gives his team a thumbs up and Kaminari is all “WOW KACCHAN YOU REALLY CAN BE NOT-A-JERK IF YOU TRY HUH” and All Might is all “chills, Young Bakugou. LITERAL CHILLS” and that last bit makes Bakugou get all shy and embarrassed and it’s super fucking cute. Then he bumps into Deku and Deku is all “wow that was awesome” and Bakugou is all “you can’t beat me” and Deku is all “nah I can” and it goes on like this for a page and then Bakugou leaves and then All Might is all “I ship it.” Over on class B’s side, Monoma and his team begin to strategize for their upcoming battle. Everyone agrees that their first priority should be to take out Deku because You Just Don’t Fuck With Deku. The 5th set begins, and it’s honestly too many names to squish together, I’m gonna be real with y’all, but anyway so Deku’s side also has Mina, Ochako, and Mineta though. And their plan is to have Deku be a decoy and draw out Team B’s most troublesome members (i.e. Shinsou). As things get started, All Might gets a call from Gran Torino. We then cut to Tartarus of all places, where Prisoner #1541, better known as All for One, is squirming around and making the guards nervous. Turns out AFO is excited because apparently he can “hear his little brother’s voice.” Um. Okay.

(As always, all comments not marked with an ETA are my mostly-unspoiled reactions from my first readthrough of this chapter. I’m caught up with the manga now at chapter 224, so any ETAs will reflect that.)

oh man. that was such a rush. how could anyone possibly not enjoy that. I think even Aizawa was probably pumping his fist a couple of times and then trying to play it off like he didn’t care lol

I wonder how this will change people’s strategies going up against Bakugou in the future. the kid whose own classmates once worried that he wouldn’t accept being rescued even when his life was literally on the line just pulled off some of the smoothest fucking teamwork I’ve ever seen. I mean that shit was seamless. and “cooperation” was this kid’s one and only weak stat before; moving forward it’s getting harder and harder to imagine how anyone could possibly beat him

and lest I not give the others the credit they deserve, they were outstanding as well. Satou with the clutch save and then later helping to apprehend Bondo! Sero who made expert use of his quirk to get the others in position and to capture Awase! and then being the one to figure out Tokage’s weakness and exploit it! and last but most definitely not least my girl Jirou, who kept the others advised of class B’s movements throughout and was the one to actually KO Awase before Sero tied him up!

basically they all did so gooood. even Aizawa can’t possibly find anything to chew them out for can he? lol I’m so proud of my babies

HE GAVE THEM A THUMBS UP! HE’S ALMOST SMILING! OH MY GOD THAT MEANS THEY DID AMAZING. AND HE EVEN FOUND A WAY TO WORK IN SOME EXTRA COMPLIMENTS FOR PROBLEM CHILD #2 OVER THERE. AWW

but I mean, that’s exactly why I’m so psyched! it’s that slow burn character development! this was done so, so painstakingly, and little by little all the groundwork was put in until we finally reached the payoff. and that’s why it’s so satisfying. it’s because this is the side of Bakugou that I’ve been waiting for from the very start. this is him finally achieving the potential he has always had. it took so much patience and it was so, so worth it. so yeah. fuck it. I’m gonna keep being giddy about it

poor Tokage is apologizing to her teammates and she looks really worn out and I feel bad :( poor girl

and then Deku’s confident response, slipping right into a rapport with him. no stammering or hesitation. just his own cocky little grin. he’s fucking living for this. being rivals with Kacchan! don’t mind him it’s just everything he ever wanted that’s all

lol so now Katsuki’s telling him to shut up and that he’ll never be able to surpass him!

I stan two (2) idiot rivalboys who are just starting to heal their relationship after so long and let me tell you guys it is an absolute and utter pleasure to see it go down and I am here for it and will be here for it as it continues to progress and as Katsuki continues to learn how to be Less Of A Jerk and make amends for his Past Bullshit and the two of them continue to establish this rivalry and then start to take their next steps toward the final stage, the endgame if you will, which is being partners who actually trust one another. oh my god. and I can’t fucking believe we’re finally within sight of that now though and oh my fucking god you guys

ffffffff I’m telling you, every time he looks at the two of them together he sees their future selves, working together and trusting one another and relying on one another and together being the greatest heroes the world has ever known. All Might is the original BakuDeku shipper. he loves them so much and he’s so proud of them

and look at the word he uses there. friend. once again seeing through all of their fronting and other nonsense to the core of what they really are. and “friend” is not a word you could use to describe what Katsuki is to Izuku until very recently, but he’s absolutely right. we saw that earlier today when Katsuki saw them talking and came over and asked if anything had happened with OFA and then listened and reassured Izuku. that wasn’t rivalry, there -- that was care and concern (very brusquely offered but still). we are officially entering a whole new stage of this thing you guys, and fucking bring it on

also Deku’s face though. like, he was trying to keep that Rival Smirk in place, but look at the Actual Grin fighting to work its way out and him being so excited because it’s Kacchan and it’s what he’s wanted for so long ffff

ANYWAY. so we’re finally going to move on from the BakuDeku part of this chapter now though so say farewell

All Might is adding “other than that potty mouth of his” which is Classic All Might, and meanwhile Shinsou is watching the two of them (All Might and Deku) with an indecipherable expression, oh my

anyway so now we turn to our other resident cocky blond

“not half bad” from Monoma in reference to Katsuki is like a fucking Michelin star holy shit

now Tokage is coming up to him dejected and apologizing and saying that it’s mathematically impossible for class B to win now

well that is true but they can still tie though. honestly I have no idea how this last fight will go now

that accelerated from insightful to pompous so quickly I don’t think anyone even had time to strap themselves in

“everyone is a supporting character in someone else’s life, and the main character in their own” fucking what lmao

I mean, he’s not wrong though. unless you’re Deku. then you’re just The Main Character. surprise! a good way to tell if you’re actually the main character in everyone’s lives and not just your own is if you get attacked by villains in every single arc btw

so Kakashi Girl is asking what is Monoma’s plan anyway

did they not come up with one yet?? they had all that time! the most time out of anyone!

Shouda says they should adapt a strategy similar to Tokage’s team

sure, if you also want to get beat 4-0 in a record five minutes

so he says they should stick together and keep themselves concealed and that there are no merits in challenging the other team to hand-to-hand combat

whatever you say. I only know two of you guys’ quirks here. I personally would be looking to take advantage of the Monoma-borrows-Shinsou’s-quirk strategy to take them by surprise, which is only going to work once but damned if it won’t be really fun to watch though

absolutely. he’s the Bakugou of their team, for sure. but if you thought Kacchan’s team had good teamwork, you ain’t seen nothing yet though

and also don’t forget that my girl Uraraka “gon’ fuck your shit UP” Ochako is also on this team! anyone wants to underestimate her, it’s at their own risk

apparently class B has been doing their research and keeping up with the times, because they’re aware that Deku’s style has come a long long way from the days of the sports festival. they even know about his new long-distance attacks! wow

also they describe him as “Bakugou’s equal or maybe even greater” in terms of both mobility and power, which is excellent. this series keeps giving me what I want

so Shinsou agrees that they need to take out Deku first “no matter the cost.” but he’s bringing up the fact that Deku is able to escape from his brainwashing

ehhhh but I kinda feel like that’s a waste of the potential that Monoma-with-Shinsou’s-quirk has, and I don’t get how doubling down would do anything other than just make things more complicated. and also, won’t Deku’s team be on the lookout for Shinsou’s quirk now? idk just seems like a lot of things that could go wrong here. this fight is going to be so interesting

Monoma looks thoughtful and says that it’s possible “things won’t go as planned for me either”

but he says that either way they need to stop Deku from roaming free or they have no chance. “I’m counting on you, Shinsou”

so now the teachers are gathered and saying that this is the last round, which we already know. “I wonder how Shinsou will fare?”

I know Aizawa is actually way more invested in this than he’s letting on, so I’m officially rooting for class B here despite my best boy and best girl Izuku and Ochako being on the class A team. sorry guys. but I just want your new brother to do well so he can be accepted into your class and get to be your brother full time!

I highly doubt that they will! so now we’ll see whether or not he can adapt!

anyway so on their side they are of course worried the most about Shinsou. though Ochako’s reminding them that they should be worried about everyone!

anyway so they’re saying that AFO has tons of other followers still in hiding and that it’s not just the league. and that they have to be careful not to provoke them

eh, I’d say it’s worth the risk. these other villains ain’t shit compared to AFO and we all know it. but if you leave him alive, and he gets out and regains his strength and retakes his place at the head of them all, then we’re talking about an all-out war potentially
