“Dany runs around saying ‘I must end slavery like my ancestors.’” Um?
Dany has only ever used her own experience as a girl sold and then the horror she felt when she learned the reality of the slave trade as motivation to end slavery.
Tumblr media
and when Xaro tries to explain the practice of slavery with nice eloquent words but daenerys sees right through them and feels a rawness in her belly.

Every time I get a reminder of that wretched season I like imagining doing this to D&D the lazy sloppy hacks. And also to those dumb idiots who say Dany “is going mad in the books and it’s gonna make sense”. I see too many of those comments and honestly? Those people are as stupid as the ones Tuco Salamanca calls “biznatch”

Very funny to me how Stansas present her character as being so interesting and complex because of her vulnerabilities, while simultaneously ignoring those same vulnerabilities in other characters. Dany is sold as a bridal slave and lacks agency throughout AGOT and after. Her dragons are either too young/small to utilize effectively or locked away for the majority of the story. They aren't some all-powerful trump card that protects her from harm. Arya is captured as a prisoner of war, forced to watch countless people tortured and murdered, and then essentially enslaved in Harrenhal with no way to fight back. She has an entire arc of feeling powerless, of being a "mouse", during ACOK. She doesn't have "kung-fu" or the ability to magically fight her way out of every situation, she's a young child lacking physical strength with only the most basic sword training.
Sansa isn't the only female character, she isn't the only young character, she isn't the only character who suffered, and no one is obligated to prioritize her. I'm so tired of Dany and Arya being mischaracterized and having their stories erased to prop Sansa up. "Sansa has kept her dignity" In other words, let's praise her for having a level of security that Dany and Arya don't have access to. She hasn't ever been forced to make a hard decision which of course means that she's morally superior to them. They can't even admit to themselves that her lack of action is due to her own passivity. If it doesn't fit their delusion, they erase it from the story and expect the rest of us to play along. Ask one of them what they like about her character without bringing up her being the ultimate victim, and I genuinely don't believe they'd be able to give you an answer. They belittle other characters more than they talk about her and these takes just scream insecurity/jealousy at the content and development other characters have in their POVs.

ijbol— targ stans / aria stans have to villianize sansa to justify their unjustified extreme hate towards her. they will blame a child for her own fathers death and her own abuse before realizing their hate is beyond unreasonable compared to the actual terrible people in asoiaf.
sansa is a “villian” because she rightfully so didn’t trust dani and she was right to distrust her!! look at king’s landing— do you a genocidal tyrant to be your ruler? no i don’t think so

... and some bitter people keep screeching that the Starks are the protagonists. ASOIAF is a phenomenon because of those messy dragonlords, it is known.
The whole expanded verse is Daenerys Targaryen's legacy.

why is it that alicent and sansa are given the interiority no one ever has for rhaenyra and dany. why are they the long-suffering chessmasters while rhaenyra and dany are the warmongering power hungry whores. as though rhaenyra and dany have not suffered at all and are not intelligent or have any political savvy. like bffr

I'm so tired of Rhaenyra antis saying that Rhaenyra wouldn't like Daenerys as a reason why we shouldn't like Rhaenyra or the Blacks. It's such a pointless argument because there's no fucking reason why she wouldn't love Dany. Rhaenyra loved Visenya, even named her daughter after her, so why wouldn't she love Dany, who was also a warrior queen? Next, Rhaenyra would totally admire Dany's goal of reclaiming the Iron Throne, after all, Rhaenyra and her family were also usurped. Also Dany literally brought dragons back into the world, that alone would make Rhaenyra love and respect her!
Some people might try to argue Rhaenyra wouldn't like Dany trying to end the slave trade, and I say to that: where the fuck did they get that idea?? Rhaenyra was born and raised in Westeros, a place where slavery has been outlawed for a while, why would she care about the slave trade in Essos? Sure we don't get anti-slavery tirades from Rhaenyra, but we don't get those from literally anyone in the books except Dany! The closest we get is Ned exiling Jorah for selling slaves, does that mean everyone else in Westeros is against Dany's slave rebellion? No!
In conclusion: Rhaenyra would have loved Dany because, not only is she her descendant, she is the Mother of Dragons, a warrior, a ruling queen, a conqueror, and a fucking awesome woman. Fuck all TG's anti-Rhaenyra bs.

You are so uncreative and unfunny bruh
How long will y'all come up with broken record bs? every single Rhaegar and Dany anti repeats the same nonsense, its a pattern trained bot
Try new fresh takes like "they killed my grandmother" or "they beat little kittens" at least the discussions are gonna be interesting again

So disguting to see Martells white stan acting like anti racist & POC allies because they stan fictional brown people (lbr Martells are clearly Catholic Italians) but so many of them are silent on the Palestinian genocide (but thankfully that means they wont use anymore the screenshot of GRRM saying he based Dorne on Palestine).
Tumblr media
the martells are not "clearly" catholic italians, they are actually based on the moors, which was a shorthand for "muslims" regardless of race, so it refers to an entire religious-ethnic group of the maghreb, al andalus, and malta, which is a wide swath of area but if you'll notice - it does not include Italy because we are in the Iberian Peninsula and not the Mediterranean. If we're talking "people we consider white that Dorne is based on" the answer is Wales not the Italians. There are Welsh Marches and Spanish Marches, Welsh rulers called themselves "Princes", they were culturally different from the rest of the Isles, etc. Also, being a hypocrite about Palestine isn't going to stop people from saying that Dorne is based on Palestine because that's not a fandom thing people made up, that's just the truth. It's literally right there in plain english on so spake martin:
Tumblr media
And beyond that - idk why you would say Dorne is Catholic Italy as if Oldtown and the Hightowers aren't right there being Medici as FUCK like come on now.
As for your other weird ass point...a lot of people in the imperial core - no, not just the USA, I will not let Canadians and Brits get away with pretending like they don't have western privilege, thanks - are uncomfortable with the idea that they benefit from the suffering of PoC in the third world, or that they may yet have some unlearning about their own complicity and ignorance to the sufferings of others. Yes, I find it annoying, frustrating, infuriating that someone can spend all their "fun" time critiquing the Targaryens for the Dornish Conquest or Dany for the mess in Meereen and Astapor yet are incapable of turning that criticism inwards because it might mean they have to think about parts of themselves and their privilege they don't want to, but you can say this about every fandom because what you consume does not necessarily mean you understand what you're consuming. Look at how Bojack Horseman essentially had to turn to the audience and say "Bojack is not a man you want to be like you fucking freaks" because the subtext was not sinking in. Look at how a bunch of Broadway stars got together to sing "Bring Him Home" as if Les Miserables isn't based off a true story where a group of oppressed people rebelled through violent action including kidnapping nobility and those of the royal family for ransom. The dissonance is everywhere; when I notice someone who seems too far gone into some bs racist colonizer mindset, I simply unfollow and/or block. It's just not worth my time to debate whether a genocide is a genocide.
Also, this is a really weirdly worded ask and I would deeply appreciate if people didn't do this in my ask box. If you want to genuinely discuss politics, fine, go hit up my main, if you want to genuinely discuss fandom racism or asoiaf in general, also fine, but whatever this ask is? It's tacky and I need you to really think about the way you're bringing a real life genocide going on right now that your tax dollars are paying for into this fandom nonsense.

The Uno Reverse Adoption Saga Comments Q&A
I’m so sorry I took so long :(
questions and answers below the line
Firstly: Things I clarified and feel could have caused some confusion:
Clarification 1: I do take suggestions! So long as no one is rude I love hearing other people’s thoughts/ideas/feedback/speculations/etc. ^_^
Clarification 2: The trio are all halfas. How? Why? What am I basing their abilities off of? Go read Third Time by DarkNympha, I genuinely cannot write anything better than that to capture the astoundingly awesome ideas and emotions than they did. I tried to write my halfa trio as close to how they were depicted there as possible because it is such a work of art. 20/10 would recommend!
Secondly, Questions:
1 Q: How did the trio die?
A: See 10 Q or refer to Clarification 2 :)
2 Q: What was the Scramble Incident?
A: A plot device. The scrambled tech is a challenge for the trio and it does indirectly cause a lot of opportunities/problems I can capitalize on in the story. Currently, fleshing out the incident over time and defeating the scrambler is planned be sort of like a “look how everyone’s changed” deal.
3 Q: Sam and Tucker have mechanical parts integrated to their ghost forms- do they get special functions?
A: Yep! Sam’s camera can take a picture of a person and the picture it shows is of their death! If it is a place it will show who or whatever died their last. She can control it to some degree by filtering out certain kind of death, like if she only wanted to see victims of drowning at a place, or if she only wanted info on cats that have died recently instead of whatever has died recently in general. They mostly used the camera in the scant old, unsolved cases to help some ghosts find peace (No one really gets murdered in Amity now a day so its old cases).
Tucker’s PDA is a living extension of himself and so it can’t really be hacked since he can just adjust things on the fly. Anything he has on his PDA is something he can remember. Say he used his PDA and texted someone a month ago- he’d remember the conversation clearly. Additionally he doesn’t have to focus as much as other ghosts to overshadow tech since the PDA acts as a catalyst (in a sense). I haven’t planned out the details of Tucker’s PDA as much as I have Sam’s camera as the camera becomes important sooner rather than later. Don’t be surprised if I tweak what the PDA can do ;)
4 Q: Has Jason mentioned Sam to anyone from the family yet? The Anti Ecto Acts seem like something Batman should know about.
A: He hasn’t! He looked through the acts, read the Fenton’s ‘research’ and realized that he fits the description of a violent non-feeling (he only really expresses anger or irritation these days) ghost pretty well. He doesn’t trust the others, especially Bruce, to see that ‘research’ and still think of him as a person. He’s not going to risk subjecting the trio to Batman either. It gets worse once he has access to the Amity side of the web and reads whatever bs the GIW has been spewing. It’ll get better though
5 Q: Danny has an ice core, so what cores do Sam and Tucker have?
A: I’ve combined strong electricity and fire into a plasma core, and that is what Tucker has. Sam has an earthy leaning nature core. Bonus info- Vlad has either a frail plasma core or a strong combustion nature core, Dani has an aqueous leaning nature core, and Clockwork has a temporal core.
6 Q: How old is everyone?
A: The trio are 16 and that makes Jazz 19 as she is 2 ish years older than them. Jason is legally 26, and I know that he was dead for 4 years so he’s arguably 22. He and everyone else considers him 26 in story though. I haven’t decided on anyone else’s ages as of yet but Damian is probably going to be 14 because Jason needs more crises for me to address later on.
7 Q: Are the Mansons/Jason worried that Sam is gone?
A: Addressed in the last 2 chapters! Directly: Jason was worried and now he’s… still worried. Indirectly: The Mansons, and the other party guests, are unconscious/unaware and are being carted off to hospitals. This’ll come up later.
8 Q: Is this on AO3?
A: Yes! You can go here and if that doesn’t work here is the link:
9 Q: Sam is Jewish. Why are her parents so concerned with Christmas?
A: This is less about religion and more about influence! They worry about the Christmas Gala because it’s a prestige thing to be invited and they care about their image too much not to go. It can be seen as a snuff if you don’t go and then Upperclass Politics Occurs. Additionally it’s a great time to socialize and do fancy rich people connections stuff. So yeah, their approach is based more the social aspect of the party than a religious one.
10 Q:
Tumblr media
Referring to this I assume: “People who died with conviction strong enough to become an obsession or who died traumatically enough to became ghosts did so with fully matured cores.”
A: When I wrote that I was focusing on how someone died and the events leading up to their death in my mind. For example, if someone was convinced they were being stalked for days beforehand and then is murdered they might have more emotional buildup than someone who gets murdered suddenly out of the blue. I feel like there would be a limited window after a person dies that outside events could still impact if they become a ghost- like if the murderer from the previous scenario hid the body after doing the deed the person might gather more ectoplasm and linger because they want their body to be found (more emotions basically).
The death of the trio is the portal accident but Sam and Tucker got hit. I used Third Time as the basis for the trio (I highly recommend that read, I enjoyed it a ton). There are differences in abilities but for the most part I yoinked the fic as the background for the trio. I just… I did try to write a one shot in the same vein and then later when I was working out the details for the Halfa Trio I found myself just regurgitating Third Time in various ways. DarkNymfa knocked the ball out of the park. I just can’t do better than the original.
As far as Jason and his resurrection goes, I have not yet worked everything out and don’t want to say much on what I have decided on as that mystery is something that can act as a great tool to move the plot forward. Mysteries aren’t fun if they are figured out too quickly.
11 Q: Is Scarecrow a ghost?
A: Nope! He is liminal and the reason the trio mistook him for a ghost (besides his ghostly appearance) was that Jason, who was in the attic below them, triggered their ghost senses. They realized their mistake when Scarecrow/Crane didn’t fight Batman like a ghost would’ve. No intangibility, telekinesis, etc.
And that’s all. I’m sorry that some of these have been sitting in the comments for for months ^_^’
I’m going to try to get back into replying to comments so we’ll see how that goes.

it’s honestly disgusting how so many people will defend mirri maz duur forcing an abortion on a 13 year old dany as if forced abortion isn’t a very real reproductive rights issue that affects tons of women in the real world, like seeing people defend or make light of that is genuinely so gross
What gets me is that they'll defend her actions but they're too cowardly to talk about what exactly Mirri did to Dany. They tip-toe around the fact that she forced a painful abortion onto Dany, for a child she wanted, by tricking her into believing that she could heal Drogo. Truthfully I would've had no issue if she had only murdered Drogo but she didn't stop there. And then her being a slave is supposed to excuse everything but then they ignore that Dany was a bridal slave and her being sold to Drogo is mentioned several times throughout the story. From George's own words, Dany didn't have the authority to stop the Dothraki from taking slaves. The only thing she could do to intervene was take them as her personal slaves and offer them some protection. They use Dany's lack of agency to justify Mirri harming her and it's so nasty.

I saw that dumb idiot who reblogged your post saying Dany had parallels to Aerys and that she is a slaver. Where do those dumb idiots get this bs from? It’s so stupid and so blatantly ignorant and false. These people are just absolutely ridiculous.
Wait, it gets better in their answer when they tell me they never said they see parallels between Dany and Aerys, but that I see others blaming her for his actions because they comment on the parallels they see between Dany and Aerys. So basically "I don't see those parallels myself, but if others antis Dany see it, you should understand it." No, sorry, people who blame Dany for Aerys' actions because they see parallels between them are just making up said parallels. They're not canon, they don't exist except in their Mad Queen Dany fantasy. It's exactly the point of my original post where I say people blame her because of her father, they're so far gone that they'll do anything to blame her.
And seriously, what does someone expect when they reblog a post from a Dany fan with antis Dany tags? If you don't want to debate with me, if you just want to bitch and rant, then go write your own post. Everyone is aware that we see the tags added by people who reblog the posts we wrote, right? I click on my notifications, I see antis Dany tags on a post I wrote, but I'm not supposed to answer? What kind of logic is that? Imagine me reblogging a Sansa stan post with antis Sansa tags and then complain because "oh no, I didn't want to engage with you"
They're not answering me anymore, nor are they answering @brideoffires' questions because they can't, just like they couldn't answer her almost three years ago here. It's easy to say bullshit about Dany and pretend we're the ones ignoring what's in the books, but when you ask for the chapters, pages and quotes to back up what they're saying, of course there isn't any answer since Dany isn't a slaver. Now, they don't even understand that Dany used to be a slave herself, so I'm really not sure they paid attention to her chapters.

how much do you want to bet that they will turn Aerion brightflame into a sad poor boy who get bullied by Egg and mistreated by his family?
targ men have their easiest time in this fandom 'cause you see a terrible one (which is interesting!) and yet someone will come up that he had a trauma or something and suddenly he's "deep" and "complex"
Meanwhile a female Targaryen dares to no be humble, with head down and only passive and she's automatically be problematic and villainize sk
I'll admit I haven't read the Dunk & Egg books (mostly due to lack of time and now I'm really not feeling up to if it's gonna be adapted) but I know the basics about the characters.
On the one hand they might use aerion for their "all targs are mad" agenda - which is equally bad in my opinion. And doesn't Aegon v have a bunch of parallels with Dany?
Dunno, he might get lucky because due to the gender and come off as the "male better version of daenerys" OR they might attempt some s8 foreshadowing and make him arrogant?
it really depends with which side they'll lean. Underlining misogyny; magically have the male characters being amazingly written? Anti-targness; all Targaryens suck in a different way but here my fav has trauma so he sucks a bit less. GoT obsessed; find some annoy way to drop the prince that was promised because we'll never be free and try to foreshadow the bs that won't happen until hundred of years

I know I should not care what a bunch of misogynistic assholes and idiots think but if and when GRRM finishes his books and he gives Dany a good well written ending where she is the hero that we know that she actually is and completely shuts down those stupid “Mad Queen” statements these idiots make (like that she was always going to go that way)… I am going to feel so much satisfaction knowing that we were right. Dany is a hero. Pure and simple. They are just misogynistic idiots who hate Dany because they wish they or their self insert favorites like Sansa and Alicent could be a fraction as great as she is. It’s ridiculous that everytime I see a comment on Instagram on Dany posts saying how she’s a sociopath or that she was always gonna go mad and we weren’t paying attention. But these idiots draw from the show. Like that bs about Dany shouting in S2 that she will burn cities to the ground… that didn’t happen at all in the books. D&D are so sexist that they were messing up two of the best and most feminist characters since the beginning. But that’s all they have: the show and D&D’s sexist narrative. Sadly that’s the only ending we have now until we know what GRRM’s ending is which is guaranteed to be better. And when that happens, and hopefully Dany lives, we’ll be the ones with the last laugh forever instead of them.
Yup, the books are going to prove us right. Antis can cling to that garbage of a show, for all I care.
Now for peace of mind's sake, I would advise making good use of your block button. No mercy on antis or people that upset you. Even if here or there some of them slip by, it ought to create a more positive fandom environment that you can enjoy.
Worthy to ponder over how asoiaf fandom behaves on different social medias as well. I feel it can be way more draining on Twitter, for example, because of the volume of people there and the nature of the interactions (threads or short tweets). It is easier to come across an anti or upsetting content. I decided to stick with Tumblr when I noticed it would not do to stay on Tumblr.
Not sure how it works on Instagram though, and which social media you are most comfortable with.
Another balm for my soul was to become way more pickier with my mutuals.

Some things to note for this blog
I should have put this up sooner but honestly, I didn't think I needed to, until now. Everything below the cut.
GoT
When I post anything GoT-related, I am talking about the showverse only. This is why I do not include "asoiaf" in the tags of each post. While using the same characters and universe that GRRM created in ASOIAF, Game of Thrones is an adaptation. Which is why we don't see characters like Lady Stoneheart, Val, Gryff, or Dacey Mormont. (I know most of us know this already but I feel the point needs to be reiterated for some...certain stan groups in particular) Same goes for House of the Dragon.
I do post about Daenerys (and will continue to) and I can be critical of her but I still love her. She is actually one of my favorite characters in the show. But while I consider myself a fan of hers, I don't stan her blindly and I can see the mistakes she's made. I will call out her bad behavior while still maintaining my love for the character. I appreciate her dark turn because of the fact that she, as a woman, got to have that arc and make her own choices. It's incredible storytelling that was layered in since season 1 (though the execution of it in the end was botched here and there). Same thing goes for the Targaryens. For example, while I might not be a fan of Daemon, I do appreciate his character and Matt Smith's portrayal.
If I see any ridiculous Dany stan or anti Sansa bs in my travels on here, I'm calling it out. Not specifically to the individual(s), I don't do that, but I do respond to ridiculous claims made about characters, their story arcs, the writing, fandom bs, and the show in general.
SPN
I do love SPN but I am very critical of the series finale. But while being critical of it, I can understand why some decisions were made behind the scenes and it is what it is. It doesn't mean I don't hope that a reboot or continuation down the line won't attempt to fix the mistakes that were made (imho Dean's appearance in the finale of The Winchesters already started that ball rolling in a way).
I have been critical of the Wincest pairing in the past but that has been more about some of the behavior of the shippers rather than about the ship itself. I've also listed why I don't feel comfortable with the ship itself but I also have the attitude of ship-and-let-ship. So I'm not attacking the ship but just stating why I don't care for it while also challenging some of the shippers' assertions of how the show was intentionally going that way for the brothers all along as well as their misunderstandings of Dean and Sam's actual familial relationship.
I am anti John Winchester and will forever be. Any posts I make on this subject is not criticism of Jeffrey Dean Morgan or his portrayal of the character. This is not challenging Jeffrey Dean Morgan's or Jensen Ackles' opinions of the character, but sometimes can be a respectful disagreement (meaning I have a different school of thought on the matter for those who aren't able to grasp this everyday life concept). This doesn't mean I don't acknowledge Dean's, Sam's, and Mary's love for John. While I agree with JDM and Jensen that John did the best he could in that time, he absolutely could have done better and had many opportunities to. Not to mention what was implied that was right underneath the surface of the story the whole time and how it was confirmed starting in season 12.
Imho, the idea of Destiel went canon in the show, not the pairing itself. We only saw Cas' confirmation of his feelings and how it all connected back to Cas' own story line over the years. By Dean not having time to respond one way or the other, I believe the show intended to keep that open-ended and ambiguous. So people can still speculate on his feelings should they so choose (personally, I think Cas was extremely important to Dean, more important than antis feel comfortable acknowledging which is why they consistently do their best to undermine the 15x18 moment and attack anyone who asserts that Destiel is canon).
I am very much pro-Dean (not a stan but a huge fan), pro-Winchesters 2.0 (Dean, Sam, Cas & Jack) or TFW 2.0, pro-Jack, pro-Jack and Cas as family to both Sam and Dean. My posts will usually operate from this stance.
If I see any ridiculous anti Dean, anti Destiel bs, pro-toxic codependency bs in my travels on here, I'm calling it out. Not specifically to the individual(s), I don't do that, but I do respond to ridiculous claims made about characters, their story arcs, the writing, fandom bs, and the show in general.
The Winchesters
I am very critical of The Winchesters but it is not personal criticism of Jensen or Danneel Ackles. I am not critical of it for the sake of being critical or fandom drama; I am looking at it through the same critical storytelling eye I look at everything else. I focus on the story and not anything beyond that. Whatever feuds the fandom drama queens believe are going on between Jensen and Jared, Danneel and Genevieve, Jared and Misha, etc, I am not engaging in any of that nor am I going to allow it to taint my perspective as a viewer.
911
While I have been critical of certain relationships for Buck and Eddie (like BuckTaylor, BuckAli, EddieAna, or EddieShannon for example), I am not completely critical of the female characters themselves nor am I anti them (their characters all served a purpose in the story). Except Abby and that was due to her severe mishandling of Buck. But even then, as long as she stays far away from Buck, I'm good with her and hope she finds her own happiness.
I still believe in the possibility of Buddie but I will admit that the season 6 finale left me dumbfounded, even knowing what was happening bts. So I have not posted as much for this pairing or fandom because I'm waiting to see how season 7 will go.
Speaking of which, I am very critical of the writing of the last two episodes of season 6 especially, not just for Buddie but all of the other characters and relationships as well.
Big Sky
I am very critical of the writing of the last season as well as the push the show made for a certain pairing to happen (Beau x Jenny). It is not criticism of Jensen Ackles or of Katheryn Winnick (I am a fan of both), nor is it criticism of the characters Beau Arlen or Jenny Hoyt (I also love both). I honestly believe Jenny's (and Cassie's) character got shafted in the last season as a bid to stay on the air by the showrunner. And I am very critical of that showrunner and some of the decisions he made that I think sunk the show the final inch over the edge into oblivion.
Celebrities/Actors
While I am a fan of Jensen Ackles's career and try to be supportive, this is not a stan blog. I will not be posting about Jensen's personal exploits (outside of FBBC and a social media post here and there possibly), any gossip/rumors surrounding Jensen, anything about his marriage to Danneel, etc.
I will not be posting anything about Danneel Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Misha Collins, etc.
I only post about people I admire and it's usually in relation to their acting and/or portrayals, or directing (like Miguel Sapochnik for example). I appreciate talent where I see it.
