Alrighty guys, as a sapphic i give up. I want absolutely no gay ships to be canon in this show except rovickie. No steddie, no byler, nothing mlm. Take rovickie as your lgbtq rep or perish. The only exception is bi4bi lumax. The amount of recent takes about how ST will suddenly be a homophobic show if byler doesn't get together or how there are so many amazing steddie parallels from people who pay no attention to the canon queer rep we do have because it's not two men who they think are hot has made me bitter. I hope absolutely none of the fanon mlm ships are canon because I want to see you all whine about the show's cowardice and homophobia while I, a joyful sapphic, enjoy Maya Hawke and Amybeth McNulty having the time of their lives playing a super cute sapphic couple. Also Vickie's bi rep. Stop writing about how she's so homophobic. Stop using Robin as a crutch for your steddie/byler everything. Check your misogyny challenge.

I was scrolling through the anti byler tag just to see what was there for fun. I did next expect to be so distributed and pissed off. This was only 5 minutes of scrolling.

Within the 5 minutes I scrolled through that tag, i was able to find so much homophobia. I mean whether you ship byler or mileven, you should all feel so upset by this shit. This is homophobia. Queer people are still being killed for who they are, and shit like this is why.

If you are homophobic, racist, ableist, sexist, or any other hateful group, you don’t belong in the stranger things fandom. Literally you are the people who are the bad guys on the show.

Okay let’s get some things clear….

Some people *COUGH* B*lers *COUGH* are completely missing the whole point of El crying in that season 5 leak. No it’s not because Mileven is “breaking up” ffs.

I can think of several reasons why El could be crying in that scene:

Max is literally in the hospital still in a coma I believe. El is still carrying that guilt and I’m not sure how long the timeskip is, maybe two or three years? But during that time she would most likely be visiting max everyday with Lucas and just break down about Max when she’s alone with Mike. Idk just a theory but atleast it’s more believable than a breakup.

El has hopper back and is feeling so much emotions. She’s happy because he’s alive but also she’s terrified of losing him for good when Vecna comes back again. Idk just a theory

Literally anything else.

I know this isn’t a super analytical post but I just needed to get this out. The fact people seem to have forgot that El has a major reason to cry is baffling to me.

The scene with Mike and Eddie totally proves that Mike likes boys. I’m making this to prove that I’m not just creating some false idea that Mike is gay so that he could be with Will. Even when he isn’t with Will he is very queercoded. Of course I believe he and Will are endgame, but there is other proof in season 4 that Mike is attracted to men.

In the cafeteria when he is talking to Eddie, Mike is leaning into Eddie and keeping eye contact, whereas Dustin is clearly uncomfortable and trying to get out of the situation. Now I do not ship Mike and Eddie or anything weird like that, but this interaction is a clear contrast between Dustin and Mike + how they interract with other men. Not to dismiss any headcanons people may have of Dustin, but the way Dustin reacted to Eddie putting his arm around him was much more hetero than whatever Mike was doing.

Some people think Mike just admires Eddie and wants to be like him, which is certainly a valid perception of their relationship, but we also know that Dustin admires Eddie too. The difference is that when Dustin had the chance to be close to Eddie in this scene he didn’t because why would he, right? Now I don’t know about you but if someone I thought was attractive (not necessarily a crush) put their arm around me I would want to lean in closer. If my feelings were platonic I would feel awkward.

I don’t think Mike has a crush on Eddie but he definitely sees him as being attractive. Photos are for reference if you don’t remember the scene. Notice how Mike is clearly leaning in and Dustin isn’t, I think the Duffers and Finn Wolfhard did this on purpose.

ok nobody asked but these r my stranger things unpopular opinions, inspired by a tweet where people just shared super common and well accepted opinions instead of actual controversy lol

also half of these r gonna be ronance centered because they’re literally all i think about

- first and foremost, nancy is a lesbian. i think so many of her actions and struggles can absolutely be traced back to comphet and repression and i feel like people want to cling onto her romance with steve and jonathan as a way to justify her fondness for them, when i think she can just care about them because they’re her friends and they’re trauma bonded(tm)

- while i like steve and robin being besties as much as everyone else i feel like people overestimate how close they really are in canon. of course they’re best friends but they really aren’t overly dependent on each other like people interpret them to be. they’re best friends but they also function really well on their own.

- though there’s no denying that will has feelings for mike i sincerely doubt that those romantic feelings are reciprocated and i think people are way too confident that byler is gonna be canon

- elmax is miles better than almost every canon AND fanon relationship in the show (i’d argue jopper and lumax (and biased opinion ronance) are the only genuine contenders)

- while i make a habit of being overly critical of men i think people forget that the “grumpy dad” trope with hopper that they like so much comes with him being a total dick sometimes lol

- both jonathan AND steve were weird as fuck in season 1. y’all r having a mid-off when u argue jancy vs. stancy

- and by mid-off i mean stancy wasn’t as bad as y’all act like it was and jancy is not as good as y’all act like it is

- y’all infantilize the FUCK out of robin buckley and im SICK OF IT!! she’s incredibly smart and strong and u people act like she’s stupid/a pushover/a nervous little baby

- in general i think the ronance fandom likes to apply tropes to nancy and robin in a way that isn’t accurate to their characters. its a very common and predictable pattern and i think thats why a lot of fan works feel out of character (an example to this is people applying grumpy x sunshine to nancy and robin respectively and it just doesn’t fit)

- karen is not a good mother. i think everyone can agree karen is weird as fuck for the billy thing, but i see a lot of people argue for karen that she’s really grown as a mother but i’m not seeing it. i don’t doubt that she loves her kids but there’s a reason mike and nancy are Like That

- y’all made up a ton of steve’s personality traits. i’m all good with interpreting his character a certain way but if the reason you hate nancy wheeler is because she unknowingly poked at insecurity of steve’s that u made up i have 0 respect for ur opinions lol

- and on that note steve is pretty badly written. i don’t think his path to “redemption” was bad but he’s so far from anything special that the love he gets from the fandom astounds me

- luckily this opinion isnt as unpopular anymore but steddie was figment of fandom imagination and the fact that it rotted y’all’s brains so bad to the point where you convinced yourself eddie munson was actually really important is just so...

- if you make fruity four content without nancy because you don’t think she’s interesting enough you’re a loser

- byclair is literally SOOOO much better than byler the fact that y’all aren’t going to war for them is upsetting

- this better not be an unpopular opinion but ive been seeing more of it recently: if you think joyce byers is a bad mother block me rn

- any hate that eleven, max, and nancy get is almost ALWAYS rooted in misogyny

It’s actually really weird the recent influx of just pure anti mileven posts.

I can’t even go into the Mileven tag to see Mileven posts without blocking bylers who cannot help themselves and just spread negativity on the tag.

It’s not funny to take over the tag. Seriously we don’t do anything to the byler tag unless we’re addressing shit you guys do.

When Season 5 comes out, I don’t want to see any of you on the Mileven tag being angry that Byler wasn’t endgame. If it’s anyone’s fault, it’s yours for being completely overtaken by this one-sided ship.

I’m going to tag this as Byler and Byler tumblr because honestly this is getting ridiculous.

Why can’t we just ship differently without this vitriol aimed at a ship that’s loved just like you love your own ship.
