my thoughts on Charlastor and Alastor calling Charlie "the daughter he never had"

this will be a very long rant/vent/whatever. also, a kind of... agressive one. if u wanna read, read it, if u don't, don't, idc and idm. I don't know if some antis take things for convenience (that way) or if they really are naive, because the fact that a manipulative guy like Alastor, whose intentions are unknown, tells Charlie that he sees her as "the daughter he never had" DOES NOT SOUND as CUTE to me as many DO seem to think it does.

I don't know if they don't realize the relationship Charlie has with her parents and how Alastor seems to take advantage of her.

From the pilot we realize that Charlie has no contact with her mother. In the series it is established that they have not seen each other for 7 years.

The first episode JUST talks about Charlie having so called "daddy issues" as her father, Lucifer, is an absentee father.

Charlie appears to NOT have had a close relationship with ANY of the two for some time (or quite some time).

The only person Charlie has is Vaggie, to protect and care for her (here's why Vaggie is so "boring", as some people call her, as she is acting as a guide/parental figure for Charlie, even though their relationship is romantic).

Where am I going with these points? That I think it's complete nonsense for people to take super-literally what Alastor has said: "you're like the daughter I always wanted to have".

Isn't it convenient for the most feared overlord (not the strongest) to approach Charlie and find that she's not as vulnerable as he thought (because Vaggie is there)? Isn't it convenient for Alastor to make a very absolute polarity between Vaggie and him in the pilot, where Vaggie comes off as the "bitter one" and he as the "fun guy"? Isn't it convenient for Alastor to PROVE to Charlie over and over again that HE knows what SHE NEEDS by pulling his tricks? And, oh, surprise… Isn't it even more convenient that when Lucifer arrives, who has a lousy relationship with his daughter, Charlie, Alastor rubs it in his face that he is doing everything that he (Lucifer) is responsible for, and furthermore, hits him right where it hurts, manipulating Charlie so that she seriously BELIEVES that Alastor REALLY sees her that way, and thus making her STILL not have a GUIDE other than HIMSELF?

I'll make it simple for you. You know how narcissists work? They will make you believe that YOU are special, and at the same time, they will ALIENATE you from your loved ones to keep gaining whatever they need from you. Charlie is, literally, his supply.

Alastor is a psychopath and narcissist. Do you really think that someone who can't genuinely empathize and love is literally going to feel affection for a grown woman who is very naive and doesn't even have power over her kingdom because she is so immature? Don't you think it is VERY OBVIOUS that he has literally said to her face: "I'm going to manipulate you in my favor because thanks to me you have all these upgrades in your stupid hotel"?

Alastor hasn't as such made a deal with Charlie, but he's winning her over in HIS way.

And I don't know who's crazier: charlastor shippers like me, who don't give a damn about canon and want to enjoy shipping WITHOUT bothering ANYONE (and don't come out with the stupidity that it's a "proship". Proshipper doesn't even mean "problematic ship", it means that you are FOR shipping whatever you want, living and letting live, without HARASSING others. Let's remember that Hazbin Hotel characters DON'T. FUCKING. EXIST. Alastor is not going to come out of the screen to say: "omg, user, thanks for defending me from those evil shippers uwu", or Charlie to say: "thanks for defending me, you're so good, user…. Go out and touch grass once in a while) or antis who put on a pedestal what Alastor said, believing it as a justification to ATTACK people in the fandom who shipped something different, according to them, "problematic".

There they do forget that Alastor is a manipulator, that he is a person with a LOT of arsenal to get his way. There they forget that he IS a guy Charlie should NOT trust. There it DOES count because IT CONVENIENTS THEM. That's when the canon MATTERS to them. There it COUNTS. It doesn't matter if Charlie gets hurt because of trusting Alastor, they only see what they want to see. If you guys are going to humanize this fucking characters, at least be a little bit logical. Got me? Remember what Viv said?: "ship whatever you want, JUST DON'T HARASS ANYONE". These people say: "fuck what Viv says", but on this occasion, since she DID say something convenient for them, it DOES matter what Viv says now, doesn't it? Hypocrites.

Charlie has no one beyond Alastor, and I don't remember where I read that theory, whether it was here or elsewhere, where they talked about Alastor looking for a way to alienate the hotel itself in one way or another. That's why he doesn't use very flashy technology (Vox can travel through the latest electronics, and the hotel has an old box TV), nor does he go out of his way to provide anything of good quality (like the video camera). The hotel has its own power supply (we see this when the blackout occurs during the song between Alastor and Vox).

Alastor DOES NOT WANT Charlie as his daughter, he's just taking advantage of her to get whatever he needs to get out of her.

Charlie doesn't even seem to know exactly how her powers work, and the only person who can teach her is Lucifer, her father. And if Lucifer is out of the equation, Alastor can do whatever he wants.

He's hit Lucifer right in the jugular, and Lucifer knows that all the power in the world can't make up for the wrong he did to Charlie.

Anyway, if a real anti thinks Charlastor is problematic because "AlASTor AlreADy SaiD hE sEES hEr As a DauGhtER," I remind them that they are not dealing with a character who cares about others beyond maintaining his own status, and ffs... they're not even real. Using the camera as a spyglass of sorts, he was able to easily identify the silhouette of a Concorde (and take this picture).

About being kind in the reylo fandom

I'm a reylo first but I'll not exclude you because you write/draw breylo, clydephelia, trio, Kylo/y ...

I don't read several of these tropes but I'd never attack you for writing/liking it as long as you're respectful like I'm to you.

I can't understand hating, subtweeting with insult and threats, being passive agressive to someone because they dare ship reylo and some other ship.

What happened to the motto "don't like don't read/don't engage" that's what you're all saying so why make an exception ? Is it only blabla to you so you're an hypocrit ?? It's "funny" (no it's not) but it sounds like for some of you certains tropes are a free pass to behave like antis behaved towards us not so long ago.

Sorry you can't control what people like and your insults and threats aren't going to change anything about what people like. All you'll achieve is put a very bad reputation to reylo because people will saw your tweets and make the general assumption that every reylo are like you and THANKFULLY they're not, most of them are the most kind and supportive people out there. And also people will leave, I'm sure some of you, awful people that you are, will clap in your hands, dancing because you think they're not shipping reylo and you don't care if they leave but newflash to you they're reylo. Most of writers who explore ships outside of reylo are reylo writers too. And when they're not they're reylo supportive, retweeting stuff. And we'll loose them because of behavior like yours. My biggest ick is the hyper feminization of an obviously masculine character in a m/m ship. It's weird watch this happen so consistently, but then i realize that a lot of people in Fandom are young woman/girls so they project their understandings of relationship dynamics onto said ships. Or that the male artists who work in the Fandom themselves like a more masc/fem approach in their works. Fem interpretations are okay and frankly needed but for some people it seems they can't enjoy it without unesecarily projecting those qualities onto characters and take away their actual personality in doing so. A concerning amount of these people are young woman (attracted to men) who bulldoze past, and ignore the obviously queer relationship and themes they're engaging with, essentially making it cis-het light.

This isn't some "mlM FeTiShIZaTiOn" post because there are enough of those brain dead, thinly veiled misogynistic takes in fandom spaces, but that I'd really like to see more male/masculine/gay influence in fandom spaces. Because many of those girls are young, over-enthusiastic, and queer themselves.

As much as woman and girls do enrich fandom spaces I feel as if there is a lack of people who know how to handle, write, and draw masculine themes. A lot of us are in fandom spaces, but the people actually ruling narratives and influencing fandom spaces aren't us.

From tumblr, to tictok and twitter most Fandom and community accounts are rarely ever men/masculine aligned peeps and the ones that are, are usually not as popular and sometimes treated like they're anomalies. Many male accounts I follow for these ships and communities talk about how suprised people tend to be when they hear their gender because it's not common for men to be in these fandoms spaces. Even when those spaces are about us. The weirdest part is that reddit is the only solid place with gay/queer male oriented communities of large size and that is simply unacceptable. Not only because its fucking reddit. But the fact that there should be many more spaces oriented around us. God's know I need to just feel surrounded by understanding and similar people. Let alone someone in a worse position then my own.

It'd be everything to just be surrounded by people I share an essential part of me in commen with when I'm talking about silly needy stuff. And communities seem hell bent on ignoring us or being downright hostile.

This isn't even mentioning the not very disguised bigotry we face.

Some experience micro-agressive, and even bigoted behavior from peole who interact with them or their work. I hardly interact with anyone to avoid this kind of shit but I see it all too often around me.

Fandom is lacking a masculine presence. Even when we're the ones making the art and writing the fics, the people who run the massive blogs and accounts are usually never us. And when we make blog spaces and run them our precanse is treated as unusual or even met with varying degrees of indifference and anger.

Fandom has a problem with anti-masculinity and heteronormativity in how it enteracts with male/queer male stories. We owe ourselves some basic self respect to push back against unhealthy narratives and to let stories that value our masculinity thrive. And for younger guys in fandom to feel safe in being themselves when they interact with our spaces.

I've heared to many stories of guys pretending to be more fem or swallowing down complaints about content made for m/m relationships because they feel like their "taking up space" and "being too loud" by voicing their concerns.

I'm a pretty fem gay boy but I still desire to have a more masculine presence in queer spaces that are oriented around fiction. The sheer amount of nerdy accounts that are ran by really masc guys who think no one in non dudebro, cis-het spaces would be interested in them is heartbreaking.

Masc or fem you're appreciated and talente and you deserve to express yourself however you want. Trust me every time time I see a content creator post and image of themselves in a skirt or another showing off his jacket or fitness gains it acts as a little more inspiration to me.

Ideas of masculinity being threatening or incompatible with our communities is crypto-terf bullshit. If you want to be an openly masculine/male blog, account, or personality then be just that. One of the greatest barriers for masculine queer people is feeling out of place no matter where you go, so they deserve a space to be at home. To feel like their masculinity isn't dampened by their queerness or that they cause problems by being masculine and queer. Masculine queer people are my fucking world. Healthy masculinity that's unafraid to be itself is something I wish I had in my male "role models" growing up.

It's fun watching my favorite streamer talking about how hot boys are in the most manly-man, guy-dude way ever. Young guys deserve that recognition and relatability. We deserve role models and inspiration.

No more about, us without us. Even for simple shit like fandom.

(Also i find it really fucking interesting that with a rise of terfy, right wing puritinism in fandom there is also a rise of conditional ecceptance, homophobia and trabsphobia towards anyone male aligned. This is more widespread problem then I think is fully realized. There's an abnormal amount of push back to just our precanse.)
