total drama horror au where after the "contestants" were chosen, chris kidnapped them and dumped them on an island to compete in death games against each other whilst broadcasting it to the masses livestream style. they're forced to comply with their "host" or else their food/living accommodations are stripped away and they're left to fend for themselves in the forest, but participating in the challenges is arguably more dangerous.
each elimination ceremony is taken to it's literal extreme, as the voted out player is just straight up executed on the spot.
the audience think it's some sort of ARG type deal at first, with the campers being actors, but eventually- probably by the first on-screen death- people catch on to it being Very Real.
(chris funds this little 'project' himself mr beast style using his vast amount of tv star wealth, so there's no network/producers that he has to answer to.)
#i imagine the stream isn't on 24/7 but they ARE being recorded even when the footage isn't live#at first the viewers are like “woah this is some impressive acting. how has no one broken character yet?"#especially when. say. cody gets mauled by a bear on stream. people are like “those are impressive SFX 😲”#because they're under the assumption that these are just Really Good Method Actors. chris is transparent about what's going on from--#the start but the audience thinks it's all fake because Who In Their Right Mind Would Actually Do That Sort Of Thing (chris would)#eventually people start to catch on that it Isn't Fake and that these kids really are in REAL DANGER 🤯😬#also the challenges are less summer campy and more actively fatal. she thinks they're on the same level of bad but sad. that she did as much as hunter in the name of helping belos, without knowing the whole truth of who belos was, who he is. she's traumatized by it.
she needs to not be alone in it.
the i'll keep your secret if you keep mine is a knife to the heart. we are in this together, she is saying. whether we like it or not, at least we have each other. at least i'm not alone.
but what do you say to that? how do you make a witch's oath without magic? you take it to heart. you hold it closer to anything. there aren't words for a devotion like that, the kind of devotion hunter has led with his entire life, and now, here, it's for luz. it's for everyone, for protecting them, to be able for them to get home again.
it's reminiscent of that good old golden guard loyalty, but remade in the light of this new world, new life. it's a cause to live by, a goal, a dream; and as the story goes, we can see - there isn't much he isn't willing to sacrifice for it, especially if the cost is only himself.
(he has nothing to return for, after all. he has a graveyard, filled to the brim with bones and masks and a future he only narrowly escaped.)
sacrifice - that is something he's been waiting for his whole life. so of course he's willing to risk everything for them. what better ending is there, where at the very least, his friends can go home to where they are loved? where no one has to be afraid, anymore?

RTD is so in love with David Tennant that it makes him look stupid, huh.
#listen friends i dont know what to feel#i love everyone involved#I'm so happy that Donna has her memories back and will spend the rest of her life with her best friend by her side#but that ending felt like it was straight out of a christmas Hallmark movie; my teeth ache from all that saccharine sweetness#I'll be able to justify it if RTD is setting the stage for bringing Tennant and Tate into his UNIT spin-off which seems to be in the works#if that's not the reason it's hard for me to swallow this plot twist with the biregeneration#firstly: RTD did something similar at the end of the fourth season—splitting the Doctor to “give” one version to Rose#it's a bit annoying to see him essentially do the same now by letting another version of the Doctor to stay with Donna#secondly: I missed the emotion in this#I spent a week bracing myself for heartbreak but we went a bit too far in the other direction#we got a cutesy ending where everything resolves through a deus ex machina#yet it’s those bitter and grief-soaked moments are what RTD has always excelled at#when it comes to the Doctor's regeneration and farewells to companions#it's hard to feel much about this plot development#some things should remain final and some goodbyes and endings are unavoidable#the conclusion of Rose’s arc (both from s2 and s4) or Donna's ending in s4#were among the most emotionally intense moments in the history of television#I missed a bit of that here#perhaps if there were more bitterness in the 14th Doctor's ending if he had to pay some PRICE for this biregeneration#(like not getting his TARDIS#being told that the Fifteenth takes over the regeneration ability#and the Tennant Doctor will die of old age)#emotionally it would have provided viewers with a cool punch#without that it seems like RTD wanted to have his cake and eat it too#have a new Doctor and give his old characters a last-minute happy ending that doesn't make much logical sense#I was hoping to feel more considering how much I love these characters#but my main reaction is an eyeroll#on the positive side I really hope to see Neil Patrick Harris in the show again he was a great villain#and Ncuti Gatwa’s Doctor is already so freaking great!!! <3#doctor who

There’s a sort of loneliness that comes with Halloween now and it’s the reason why I don’t love the holiday as much as I used to before 😔
#I remember last year when I was still living in the dorms I just went to a local Walgreens to pick up candy for myself#so I could eat it alone in my room and watch Halloween movies while I assumed everyone else my age went to Halloween parties :/#and it made me realize the disconnect of what I used to have where I would go to those parties#they were more childish/kid parties than a college Halloween party but I still remember attending them#with childhood friends and going out trick or treating#and it just…stopped for me :/ like there was nothing left for me to attend to because I was too old now#and I didn’t want to go to a college Halloween party or something so I just kinda stayed in that loneliness#while trying to study for midterms but I didn’t even want to do that 😔#it feels lonelier here at home especially when your parents are boring and won’t even bother buying some candy for the kids like damn :/#but yeah idk I wish I didn’t feel so isolated around this time of year#especially when I see all my other childhood friends doing things and yet I’m still stuck in the same place#with nowhere to go#my posts

it's an irish teen movie, one of the lead actors is also in RWRB. it's definitely got its issues and there are some very clunky script moments but i really like andrew scott's performance in it! really good twist on the inspirational teacher trope and i like how it touches on the weirdness of being expected to have answers as a gay adult

the prophetic dreams are getting much more concerning
#not a joke#so like im pretty damn convinced i have prophetic dreams#except one problem is they're not very straightforward#and i never really realize they are prophetic until its too late#i had a dream my lil brother attended the former school i used to study at and something bad would happen to him#i brushed it off at the time because i thought there would be no way in hell my parents would send me off to this school#years later they enrolled him in.#and well its an average school experience for him. some classmates are absolute jerks tho. but the main event in that dream didnt happen ye#because the main event happens at a school camping event. now im worried my brother would die at said camping event. but hey no camping yet#another instance was when i dreamt we went up the escalator up the mall we used to always go to#it was late into the pandemic at the time so i thought ''no way would we end up going'' but then i woke up to my mom announcing that#you guessed it#we were going to that mall#anyways those are a few instances.#right nowi had a dream i went out to lunch after college and snapped at a man for calling me ''ma'am'' because i mentally could not take it#and im scared now#with how i've been mentally. something like that WOULD happen. poor guy#but also i had a beard. why would he do that?#and the dream was also veryyy vivid.#granted not all of my dreams come true.#and i hope it STAYS that way#anyways aside from that i've also had recurring dreams of the ocean levels rising so bad that my home town ended up flooding and dissapeari#well i havent been having the flood dreams lately#that dream had two outcomes. in both outcomes people have adpated and started building a city that could take in the new environment#in one outcome they managed to build an underwater city to regain what was left of the cities that got submerged. people actually helped ea#h other and people were thriving.#in another outcome#society just ended up the same. all of the problems we had now carried on & we were eaten by the sun. except the sun was an eldritch being?#ok for sure that sun thing wont come true. or would it???#nah. i mean according to what we know of the sun. nah.

Spins the Deimos dying in that Doing Something short fic and the relationships between him the others. Especially Hank who downright REFUSES to let Deimos die, unacceptable to them and practically in denial about it. Dei pilots Hank and I wonder if that caused some kind of semblance to attachment, from Hank for Deimos. People die, Hank kills them. What’s so different about Deimos dying compared to the rest? Too many resources? Because Doc or Sanford is attached? I feel like that’d be the coverup because there’s no reason to handle Dei’s rig so gently, it’s metal and wires it can handle some roughhousing. There’s no reason to take the rig at all if he’s replacement, another body. There is no reason to plug a cable into it after everything and once again declare that Deimos won’t die, cannot die. They are fascinating to me. So so fascinating and I want to know what goes through Hank’s mind. I adore the harsh, coldness of Hank to Deimos while also tolerating him, their often intimidating interactions with him. It’s all so very interesting and I’m less than normal about them

I thhhhink it’s not too spoilery, at least most of my thoughts here are just my own personal headcanons and vague reasoning along with things Krinkels has said.
Like, people have asked Krinkels why Hank actively protects Sanford in 11, to which he answered “Well, Sanford’s useful.”
Which is kind of my general basis for figuring out how much of an asshole to make him.
The more overtly useful something is, the further he goes out of his way to get it.
Or more fun. IE: Reaching for a chainsaw over a gun.
Like, in MPN, Hank humors Deimos. He can’t differentiate between Sanford and Deimos on the spot but he’s marked Deimos as The Funny One. He’s got a sense of humor and he’ll take on Deimos’ race to the top of the tower.
I don’t think I got to go too deep into it in Doing Something since it only takes place over a few days, but that hypothetical death scenario would probably be set further out, theoretically giving Hank time to categorize Deimos as Fun and Useful. He can take the brunt of the technical work off and it leaves Hank with the ability to just enjoy his side of the job, literally just dropping out the moment they have to do something he’s not interested in. The less Hank has to think about things he doesn’t want to think about, the better. And Deimos sure does a lot of thinking for a guy thats head is full of nonsense.
But Deimos is Fun and Useful.
Ergo, by Hank’s very normal and healthy logic, and because Doc has kind of made them each others problem by way of pairing them up in such a fucked up and entangled manner, Deimos is, objectively, his thing he wants to keep. That’s his Touy. No one’s allowed to 💥💥💥 his touy.
And when he does break it’s like a kid bringing their torn doll to their parents and being like “You have to fix it,” to Doc. There’s no room for not fixing it.
I have a set of targets all set up to mash them together further but that’s definitely spoilers and I’m loading Chekov’s shotgun and racking it for later.
#Sanford is also Hank’s but Sanford doesn’t know that yet.#Teehee.#The problem with people is that they’re people so Hank can kill them it’s fine.#Once you’ve gained the rank of Useful you surpass being people. You become Beloved Stick I Hit People With.#The group allows Hank to hit even MORE people with BETTER sticks.#Once you reach the same tier as a cat though that’s when it’s all over.#Things that make job more fun < Things that are relaxing to be around/Hank can lower his gaurd around.#Doc gets stuck in Cat Tier.#My brain logic is like ‘Well everytime I see stray cats around it’s when there’s literally no one else around or it’s been quiet’#’Maybe that could be some kind of learned indicator that the area has low traffic and is safe to stay in’#Doc blaming Hank for the abundance of cats but it turns out Doc’s just got cat brain and finds the same places as they do to hole up in.#Places where there’s shelter but no one around to get rid of rodents in a densely populated city.#Maybe I think too much.#But yeah.#I think Hank cares but he doesn’t know Why he cares and is driven by plain instinct to preserve what little he’s got.

i have thought somewhat about what impulse would be like in wotr (aside from deeply hilarious, on account of them being a 20-22 year old dipshit put in charge of the fifth crusade. literally it'd just be like if you made woljif the KC). i was leaning towards aeon at first on account of the whole ego death, transformation into something cold & inhuman, the space motifs, emphasis on Logic and Reason, all that. but the focus on Justice - the self-sacrifice in pursuit of it (or at least the aeon's vision of it) - means it just doesn't work, because fundamentally impulse is a very selfish person as much as they (at least at the start) would like not to be, and i'm not sure they even believe in justice as a concept (virtue & idealism is a luxury they've never been afforded). so the real answer i think is trickster->swarm
#it doesnt hit the same specific chaotic->lawful shift as impulse's ceremorphosis does but#to be fair illithid-impulse doesn't stay at lawful evil for very long. they squid-cannibalize their impulse control (hehe) and shift#straight over to chaotic evil. they are both a perfect and really shit illithid#but you know it could be so much worse. at least they're not doing human experimentation as a bit#actually that's a lie illithid-impulse is definitely doing that. swarmpulse still takes it Several steps beyond though. what with the swarm#and all#but then ALSO so much of impulse's downfall comes from being actively manipulated into being their worst possible self#by an external seemingly-benevolent figure#so. actually. azata->devil?#but swarm has so much more emphasis on monstrosity and hunger. and Hunger is such a big thing for them#hmmmmmmmm#irrelevant au thoughts over#i'll start actually wotr ocposting at some point they occupy too many of my thoughts not to#but well i'm shy.#i might revisit some of my impulse wips too since im thinking about them more again....#but *** ******* is too intimidating a character for me to write that's why i never got anything done for them#why did i censor that. anyway#and i Still haven't really written much for wotr yet as much as i've been wanting to#sighs!

AWFUL FOUL WRETCHED HORRIBLE. PREDATOR 2018 DOESN'T EXIST. IT'S NOT REAL. IT CAN'T HURT YOU--
that movie is just. awful. besides the ablesim it also just shits on ALL the reestablished lore for the Yautja. there was an entire game about how altering their DNA like that was frowned upon in their culture. They don't even take Predaliens as trophies because they consider them abominations.
the first two Predator movies were the best ones and I stand by that. Predators was okay, Predator 2 was my favorite and added more to the Yautja and the first Predator is a classic. The Predator is easily the weakest of the movies. I can't say anything about Prey because I haven't seen it yet but I hear it's good. though after 2018 the bar was probably pretty low.
#I would have liked it if the Fugitive Predator stayed alive longer. have them help out against the “upgraded” Predator#and also. big alien sibling... ough#personally in my own rewrite Fugi is a Yautja-human hybrid cuz that at least KIND OF makes sense then the weird dna thing they did#and the upgraded Predator is from a criminal Bad Blood clan#the armor is currently in limbo. not sure if I should ditch it entirely or make it so it was a gift for Fugi's human parent#army dad doesn't get it that's for fucking sure#r slur scene is changed to the guy who says it is cut off by the dad who is MUCH MORE AGGRESSIVE about not saying slurs before he can finis#autism thing is kinda the same but when the lady says that everyone else just looks like her like she's an idiot (she is)#also like. why does the Upgraded Pred need that anyways? your senses are already so much higher then a humans!#you already have super advanced tech! what are you going for here?! what's the point?!#it just. it doesn't make sense. it's such a stupid plot.#I have. so many thoughts about this series.
