lmao that's fair yes wf!wilbur and clinic!wilbur both have their pros and cons. personally while I have a big soft spot for wf!wilbur he's not my favorite wilbur i've written partly bc his characterization was partially based off ghostbur and truth be told I have. mixed feelings on ghostbur as a character in the dsmp. but besides that another issue I had with him ties into my issues with wf as a whole which is just my own dissatisfaction with how i developed and handled certain elements. I feel like I could've done him better yknow?
clinic!wilbur is a bit more interesting bc of the whole, uh, murder aspect but also I feel like he's not that interesting compared to my other wilburs bc he's like. basic I guess? because I was still relatively new to writing for dsmp when I wrote clinic so my characterization of everyone isn't super great to me compared to now.

I have so much of it saved in google folders and on my phone and stuff. ever since sirentwt happened my lockscreen has always been fanart of my fics (any of them not just clinic) which is just amazing that I have so much fanart I can do that with (bc i change my lockscreen roughly ever 2-3 months). it's so so cool to me and means the world fanart makes me so happy

Another interesting bit about Raven: despite having no direct connections with Adam whatsoever (belying some V5-vintage theories), they sport *unnervingly* similar aesthetics, weapons & disregard for expendable subordinates. I mean, Raven actually cared a little about Vernal but still put her in a red herring position expressly intended as Maiden-hunter bait, while Adam didn't even fucking twitch at news of mass WF casualties *or* Yang blasting one of his dudes right outside the cafeteria.
Yeah, there are a lot of parallels between them, so much so that a lot of people thought that they were supposed to be associated somehow and get mad that they weren't, but I actually think those similarities aren't meant to imply an in-universe connection and are actually supposed to tie them together in the minds of the viewers as shitty, abusive, yet nonetheless deeply important figures to Yang and Blake who serve as mentors and protectors in some (limited) capacity and ultimately reveal that they aren't the people that Yang and Blake hope, want, believe, and desperately need them to be. They both shatter the pedestals they stand upon, one by losing sight of what they're fighting for (in Blake's mind, we all know Adam stopped giving a shit about anything resembling true Faunus equality in favor of making everything about forcing the world to hurt the way he did long before Blake figured it out) and the other by failing her family repeatedly and failing her daughter in particular by doing the exact opposite of what a mother should at every opportunity.
This is a really interesting contrast to me because it highlights a big difference between Blake and Yang. Blake has always been presented as a big picture person - she wants to stop discrimination against all Faunus, everywhere. She wants to make the whole world better for everyone. Yang, on the other hand is all about the immediate - who can I help right here, who can I help right now? She's the only member of the main four who didn't have some grand reason for becoming a Huntress, the only one of the four who wanted to help evacuate Mantle instead of launch Amity. Yang wants to help the people in front of her. She wants to solve the problem in front of her and worry about the bigger picture later. Her connection to the big, sweeping plotline isn't some goal like restoring her family's legacy or making things better for marginalized people across the world, it's protecting her friends and family. It's because the people she loves are also involved, and she'll be damned if she'll let them fight alone. That's why it's so painful for her when she realizes Raven will leave her to fight alone, that Raven will let Yang paint a target on her own back because she's too scared and weak and pathetic to protect her own daughter.
Didn't talk about this enough in my initial Raven post, but she is really... not a good person. While my coomer brain will forgive her for anything because she's a hot samurai goth MILF in thigh-highs, the fact that she regularly raids and plunders villages and then leaves them for the Grimm really shouldn't be overlooked (Qrow does not overlook this at all and it's a source of major conflict between them, shoutouts to Qrow), nor should the fact that she does so using powers that Ozpin originally gave to the Maidens in order to protect the world and the innocent, as a direct response to the kindness and wisdom of the original Maidens. In terms of everything but power, Raven is the exact opposite of what Ozpin wanted the Maidens to be and represent.
Gotta say I love the way Adam and Raven are both so... selfish. They just view their respective organizations and the people in them as things, tools they can use to protect themselves or accomplish their own goals. The difference between them, really, is that Raven cares. She expresses regret and remorse. She just lacks the strength of character to place someone else above herself. Adam, on the other hand, couldn't care less. His men die serving Cinder's goals? Oh well, they're acceptable casualties because it lets him hurt the humans. Adam writes off every loss without a care in order to get closer to his big goal of lashing out at the world and wiping out humanity, Raven regrets the things she does and tries so hard to justify them to herself and others.
I cannot wait to see Raven's return to the series. I want to see what made her leave Team STRQ and why. I want to see how and why Taiyang fell in love with her, and what made her love him enough to marry and have a child with him. I want to see the person Taiyang talks up to his daughter even after all these years. I want to see how she becomes that person again, and I have faith that she will. One of RWBY's big themes is the idea that even if you've failed in the past, even if you've made mistakes, you can still start making the right choices now. Not every character takes that opportunity (see: Adam's refusal to let go of Blake, Ironwood's insistence on bombing Mantle and raising Atlas no matter how little sense it makes, etc.), but enough do that I feel comfortable considering it a theme, and I think Raven is primed to add to it at some point.
Honestly, I'm just hoping she shows up at some point and then someone just clotheslines her for being a shithead.

Okay BUT!!! Iron bull Au where things go different from V4 and foward.
So instead of having the bullshit Faunus arc we had in V4 and V5 we have it split between Menagerie and the Ironbull arc.
Adam is basically trapped between a sword and a hard place, things with the WF are tense and he has an eldrich witch threatening his people. He crosses paths with James who isn't very happy happy to see him. Maybe they fight but have to fight together? Basically they go back and forth between fighting and tentative allies and later smashing?
It would be really funny if when the guys arrive to Atlas they end up meeting Adam, like, WTF IS DOING HIM HERE???
He doesn't like to be here but Mami Salami is the biggest threat now.
Sienna cant be mad, the general is fucking hot.
Mommy Salami said gay rights because her threat over Remnant pushed Adam to drop his anti human tendencies for a hot husband, God Bless.

WF THOUGHTS (2/26/23).
Let's make a deal. I won't make fun of your religion if you don't make fun of mine. OK?
Of course, I'm still free to poke fun at my own religion. It's more acceptable when somebody makes fun of themself.
In the Catholic Church, we just started the season of Lent. It's a 40-day period of reflection as preparation for the arrival of Easter.
Even if you're not Catholic, everybody knows one thing about Lent. You're not supposed to eat meat on Friday! Lent is supposed to be a somber period that includes sacrifice. Fridays in Lent are supposed to be particularly somber because the crucifixion occurred on a Friday. In the days of the early Church, meat was a food that was consumed at celebrations. Abstaining from meet on Fridays during Lent became a traditional sacrifice in remembrance of Good Friday.
When I was a Catholic school kid, the school smelled like a fish market on Fridays during Lent. Our school was not equipped for "hot lunches." We all brought brown bags from home. On Fridays during Lent, I bet that 75% of the kids brought a tuna fish sandwich. (The alternative was PB&J.) All of those tuna sandwiches sat, unrefrigerated, in the classroom until lunchtime. The odor intensified when everybody unwrapped their sandwich.
At home, our dinner on Lenten Fridays was spaghetti and fish sticks. I always liked fish sticks. I still do.
I grew up on Long Island. Our Church was under the jurisdiction of the Archdiocese of New York. Saint Patrick's Cathedral, in Manhattan, is the top cathedral in the Archdiocese. The Cathedral is called St. Patrick's because New York City has always had a close connection with the Irish people.
During Lent, the Archbishop in New York was frequently faced with a "corned beef" problem. What happens if St. Paddy's Day falls on a Friday in Lent? Can we really expect the faithful to abstain from corned beef? Of course not! The Archbishop always issued a special exception that allowed for the consumption of corned beef on Lenten Fridays. As a kid, I was always confused by this suspension of the rules. It seemed like cheating to me.
Over time, I learned that the cheating wasn't limited to corned beef. I started to wonder if the Catholics really had any rules at all.
In the Quebec region of Canada, the Bishops ruled that a beaver was actually a fish. Why? Because, like a fish, it propelled itself through the water with its tail. Hence, the faithful were free to enjoy beaver meat on Fridays during Lent.
Not to be outdone, and relying on the logic from Quebec, the Bishops in Michigan ruled that a muskrat is so comparable to a fish that it too can be consumed on Fridays in Lent. Amongst Catholics from Michigan, there is a joke that a muskrat--which admittedly is a semi-aquatic animal--is a "four-legged fish." Who says the Catholics don't have a sense of humor?
The largest rodent in the world is a beast called a capybara. It's a mammal. Some time in the 1700s, some Catholic priests in Venezuela noticed that the animal tended to live in the water, had webbed feet, and tasted like fish. They asked the Vatican to rule that it was a fish. The Vatican granted that request. To this day in Venezuela, capybara is eaten as "fish" on Fridays in Lent.
The exceptions to the "no meat" rule abound. It's no wonder that so many Catholics have created their own exceptions to other rules. I have no problem with many of the deviations. After all, many of the "rules" cannot be found anywhere in the Bible. I suspect that God isn't very fixated on many of the silly rules. When Pope Francis is asked about strict compliance with insignificant rules, he frequently replies: "Who am I to judge?" Isn't he 100% correct?
I'm not likely to try beaver, or muskrat, or capybara. I do, however, enjoy the fish sandwich at McDonald's. It was created in 1962 when a local franchisee noticed that he wasn't selling as many hamburgers on Fridays during Lent. Even though today is Sunday, I think I'll head to McDonald's right now for a Filet-O-Fish. Is there a rule against that?

Setting - Team RWBY stumble into Adam's secret base, the same place Blake trained in the White Fang. The Team becomes separated, and Blake is forced to say good-bye to her friends. After an intense battle between the White Fang and Team RWY, Ruby now takes on Adam himself! ...By playing the worst game of tag ever. A Moonslice forces Ruby to take cover in small library, with oddly familiar titles...
Ruby: Huh? What's this place?
Adam: There you are! I hope you're ready to die, human!
Ruby: (Looking around) So many books... Hey, Adam! What is this place?!
Adam: (Snarls) Don't speak so casually to me, human. But if you must know, this is Blake's library. She used to spend all day and all night reading in here.
Ruby: (Pulls out a book, Opens it)
Adam: She's gifted, and her talents are wasted on your Huntress team. But she'll see the light. (Places Blush on Ruby's shoulder, Pointing at her head)
Ruby: This book... it's wrinkled, and the ink ran. Like it was wet, and then dried. Like someone cried into it.
Adam: She knows no one can use her skills better than the White Fang. After all, we're comrades.
Ruby: (Grabs Blush)
Adam: (Thinking) Huh? I can't... I can't move it!
Ruby: (Crushes Blush's barrel with her bare hand)
USE?!
Yang: (Outside the hideout, Ties up White Fang members) I think that's the last of them. (Looks towards the hideout) Do you think she's okay in there?
Weiss: This is Ruby we're talking about. She wouldn't let someone like Adam win.
Ilia: (Gasps) The hideout is on fire!
WF Thug: Where?!
Ilia: In the northeast quarters!
Yang: That's where Ruby is!
Blake: (Gasps, Thinking) Ruby... You didn't-!
Adam: WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!
Ruby: (Bursts past Adam, Unloads a Fire Dust round on another corner) This is the room where Blake suffered! It's the reason she hates the White Fang! So I'm gonna destroy it all! (Glares at Adam) I'm burning her bad memories from existence!
Adam: STOP IT THIS INSTANT!
Yang: Looks like the fire isn't spreading.
Weiss: Whatever your sister is planning, it's in that specific location.
Yang: Yeah, but why, though? There's nothing there but a library, right, Blake? (No response) Blake?
Blake: (Covers her mouth as she sobs, Thinking) Ruby... Thank you!
Ruby: (Impaled on Wilt, Coughing up blood)
Adam: You stupid human... Did you really think you could survive against the might of a full-blooded faunus? Against the might of the White Fang?!
Ruby: (Grabs Adam's horns with unsteady hands, Grunting) White Fang this... Human scum that... Faunus rights, bloody vengeance, and sending a message! I don't get any of it, but... (Grips tightly, Snaps off his horns)
Adam: ARGH! (Staggers backwards) YOU FUCKING-! ARGH!
Ruby: She can't move on because this room exists! (Pulls out Wilt, Picks up Crescent Rose) And if she hates it here, then I'm going to destroy it all! (Bursts around the room, Cyclone of petals ignite, Spreading the fire)
Adam: FILTHY, DISGUSTING HUMAN SCUM! (Grabs Wilt, Sheathes it, Aura glows deep red) DON'T GET COCKY, BECAUSE THE WHITE FANG WILL NEVER BE DESTROYED BY A MERE HUMAN!
Adam unsheathes Wilt, activating Moonslice. Ruby, whirls around the attack, splitting in two, before reforming and cutting through Adam. Adam collapses to the ground, passing out from both the heat and the pain. Ruby pants as she comes down from adrenaline, realizing she's trapped. As she looks around, though, she notices claw marks in the floor.
Outside, the entire base is ablaze, with a flaming tornado launching burning books in every direction from the library. Within minutes, the fire is out of control and not even Yang is able to reenter the base.
Yang: Ruby!
Weiss: Blake, get back! It's too hot!
Blake: No! What about Ruby?!
Yang: Blake!
Blake: WHAT ABOUT RUBY?!
The fire burns all day, but the library has been reduced to ash. With nothing left to burn, the fire begins to die there. After dropping off the White Fang with responding Huntsmen, the Team approaches, noticing the building was not only burnt, but also cut in half. Some of the walls collapsed on themselves, caving in the building outside the library. The team searched where they could, lifting away charred debris in search of their leader.
Yang: Anything?
Weiss: Nothing yet.
Blake: She has to be here! She couldn't have...!
Yang: She didn't.
Weiss: She wouldn't.
Yang: (Notices debris moving) Over there!
Blake: Is it Ruby?!
Adam: (Rises from the debris) Humans...
Yang: (Combat stance) Nope!
Adam: Humans... (Falls to the side, Revealing Ruby)
Ruby: (Coughing) Ugh... I'm gonna have black boogers for a while.
WBY: RUBY!
Ruby: Ah! (Squeezed by her team) Easy! I'm still really sore!
Weiss: (Steps away) How are you still alive?!
Ruby: Well, I found a hidden compartment under the library, so I hid down there.
Yang: (Steps away) Heh, leave it to my baby sister to think on her feet!
Ruby: Hey, I'm not a baby, Yang! I'm- (Tries to move, Stuck) Huh? Blake? What are you-?
Blake: Ruby... (Looks up, Sobbing) Thank you...
Ruby: (Smiles) No problem, Blake. After all, we're friends, right?

Honestly, I would like to hear you rant about Brienne's s5 storyline and her killing Stannis. It felt weird to me that in the book there's this whole thing with Lady Stoneheart wanting revenge and using Brienne as a tool to to try and get it tho she probably won't get it, and then in the show it's Brienne still seeking revenge for Renly and actually getting it. Like there's a "revenge isn't actually a good thing" theme that got lost along the way.

I don’t have.... like, anything specific against renly nor I think he’s a Bad Person which is why in modern aus I just let him be his best version, but.. canon renly Is An Asshole when it concerns his brother, his niece and brienne and that’s A Thing because like sorry but skipping succession ‘because no one likes you but they like me’ is not a good reason to do anything, ‘my niece is so ugly ew grayscale’ is just bottom level of being... let’s just say vapid, and it’s canon that the reason he keeps brienne around is not that he cares about her, it’s because he knows she’s good at what she does and doesn’t want nothing in return and actually would die for him, which........
considering that brienne would have died for renly because he was nice to her once and danced with her which is like bare minimum for decent human being, sorry if I side-eye this narrative that renly believed in her etc because sorry guys renly in asoiaf canon didn’t give a single fuck about that;
specifically, when it comes to brienne renly is that one crush you get at some point that you’re in love with the idea of, not with the person they actually are, and as someone wise said on some post once, brienne thought she would die for him and didn’t and didn’t know she could die for jaime but she immediately knew when she had the choice, so I think that just seals it, but ahead with that...
affc is also about brienne getting over renly because she was in love with the idea of renly, not with renly himself, never mind that renly wasn’t in love with her anyway and could have never been. like, all of her affc povs are about that. she thinks about him less and less, she superimposes jaime on him like ffs when she’s naked in the bath she has to MAKE HERSELF THINK ABOUT RENLY, at some point she dreams of renly’s death except it’s jaime in his place, then jaime puts renly’s cloak on her shoulders and at the end of it when she has that dream which is sort of very similar to jaime’s in asos where he sees people he thinks he disappointed and she sees renly and cat.... well. it’s because she thinks she disappointed them, or that she failed them, but she’s plain not in love with him (or his idea of) anymore;
now, she also swore to cat she’d kill stannis in revenge for him... and she’s never so much as thought about it. ffs there is ONE single instance of brienne thinking about stannis in affc. THIS ONE:He shrugged. "Sometimes. At tourneys, from afar. Once at Baelor's Sept. The gold cloaks shoved us aside so he could pass. Another time I was playing near the Mud Gate when he come back from a hunt. He was so drunk he almost rode me down. A big fat sot, he was, but a better king than these sons of his."They are not his sons. Stannis told it true, that day he met with Renly. Joffrey and Tommen were never Robert's sons. This boy, though . . . "Listen to me," Brienne began. Then she heard Dog barking, loud and frantic. the entire point was that she is over her crush on a guy who might have been decent to her though it was the bare minimum anyone should have shown her but who didn’t give two shits about her personally and that she thought she could and would die for, and sorry if being willing to die for someone because he danced with you isn’t healthy as much as people don’t want to accept the fact that brienne has Issues with the capital I;
therefore, the moment the show dragged her north FOR RENLY and OMG I HAVE TO KILL STANNIS FOR RENLY before getting her stuck watching a tower for a season for that crap joke of a winterfell storyline and don’t get me started on how they made brienne’s sl secondary to sansa for three seasons when surely her point in her narrative is not that ita) ignored that brienne had a character arc that included getting over renlyb) elevated renly to sainthood (forget saint tyrion) because it implied that yes he was that nice dancing with her so yes he deserves her avenging his death when sorry but what the fucking fuck he just paid her the bare minimum it didn’t mean she should have joined his army for it or that she should avenge him for having being a decent person oncec) made it look like renly actually gave a shit about her for real when lmao nod) trashed lady stoneheart when as you said they lost the REVENGE IS A BAD IDEA theme and all that she brought with bc stoneheart is fundamental for both jaime and brienne as characters but hey let’s just stick brienne serving other people without a personal storyline and let’s not let jaime have his arc because what the fuck amritee) missed all of the themes in her affc arc because where was meribald? where was the anti-war message? where was the fact that brienne is a vulnerable person with doubts? we saw none of that shit except oMG SHE KILLED STANNIS BADASSSSS. yeah, no. character assassination my old friend here we are;
now, specifically re stannis: what angers me on a molecular level in that choice, not counting the fact that never in my life I ever want to see character #1 I relate to in a series (and period) kill character #2 I relate to in that same series without any goddamned reason to do that but that’s personal is that....... since brienne doesn’t give a fuck about avenging renly anymore in the book it’s very likely that if she and stannis meet again they might actually like talk about things and now I’mma give you the other hot take of the year....
... which is that I would like it if people saw that actually if brienne were to get along with one baratheon brother, she and stannis would have a lot more chances to hit off than she and renly ever could have because sorry but:a) they’re both introverts with huge issues communicating with others who also have been treated like shit for their entire lives based on people judging them before they opened their mouthb) as much as brienne isn’t THAT hard on it she has a sense of justice that he’d definitely appreciatec) if we assume that a guy with a daughter with grayscale whom renly also referred to as ‘that ugly daughter of his’ who is considered disfigured by everyone who still treats her like his only heir and doesn’t gaf about her looks would give two shits about brienne’s looks and not about her skills instead then we assume wrong nvm that stannis has a hand who used to be an illiterate commoner and melisandre used to be a slave like.... come on he’d definitely treat her with respect and not just because he needs herd) reverse, if she saw how he is with his daughter thaaat might remind her of her father not having forced her to marry eventually and agreeing to let her join renly/learn swordfighting instead I mean... come one) never mind that as stated before both of them are way more similar when it comes to take your vows seriously than notlike........... okay but with these premises if they meet when they need all the men they can spare to fight the white walkers I’d presume they will actually talk about renly’s death and get an understanding, not that she’ll take out a sword and impale him there especially if it’s post lady stoneheart which is the point in her sl where she 100% understands you can’t follow all of your vows and you will have to choose at some point (btw she chose jaime already over stoneheart and we all know it bye)...
which means that having her kill him in the show after a thing they made happen from 0 to 180 just to make him look irredeemable, for renly when brienne doesn’t gaf in the books anymore and reinforcing this - excuse me - bullshit narrative of saint renly who was the ideal king and never did anything wrong except trying to pass over stannis who was ahead of him in the line and further creating drama in that damned war because his brother didn’t happen to be immediately likable (nvm that I have issues with the fact that renly doesn’t even seem to remember having been at storm’s end during the siege which means that stannis made sure he actually had to eat while everyone else was starting to consider cannibalism but hey who cares that my brother almost died and never let me starve with the entirety of the castle I’ll now go and stab him in the back because NAAAH WHY SHOULD I SUPPORT HIM? sorry but what the fucking fuck) while stannis was an asshole who eventually got what he deserved because he wasn’t fun amrite will never not irk me to a molecular level because that wasn’t brienne’s storyline anymore and it hasn’t been since asos, the renly vs stannis situation is way more complicated than renly was nice and stannis was an asshole, stannis is nowhere near the piece of cardboard dnd think he is and the fact that both characters didn’t move on from their renly-related trauma but that it went down in the cheapest most ooc way ever should have woken people up about how dnd couldn’t be trusted for shit with these books if the WF adaptation of the adwd storyline hadn’t showed that already.
tldr: it was ooc and an insult to both characters and also can we stop with the saint renly narrative, thanks.
