Hello! A second CoD post today since I was able to write this fairly quickly! This is about how I think Laswell met her canon wife, but everyone can interpret this however they like! I hope this is enjoyable!
Laswell Meeting Her Wife and Domestic Life With Her
If we’re talking about someone inserting themselves into the CoD world, then I’d say it’d be however the person intended to meet her. However, if we’re talking about her canon wife, then I’d likely have to say through work. It’s not uncommon for someone to meet through work. Besides, I can imagine the CIA having a few women working there as well, a few more than just Laswell. So, there’s a chance another one of the women working there was also into girls. And that’s likely one of the main factors that drew Laswell to that specific woman.
Don’t get me wrong, Laswell doesn’t develop crushes easily, she doesn’t now, she didn’t back then, but it would likely be that feeling of unity, of not being alone, that would draw Laswell to her future wife. It’s not often someone would have come out back then, especially not to someone you’re not sure about, so she knows something like that is an honor. And it’s that which would make her subconsciously like that woman more than the other ones, wanting to spend more time with her, get to know her better. And in those years she’d have known her, she’d eventually fall in love with her. Laswell knows what she’s feeling, but she’d test the waters a bit at first. To anyone outside it would be obvious she likes that woman more than anyone else. Given that she gives her lots and lots of gifts to gauge her reaction, takes the time out of her day to spend with her and overall just compliments her, it’s hard to not think there’s something going on here. Laswell doesn’t realize this immediately, but she will eventually.
Afterwards I’d say it was probably her wife who asked her about that sort of behavior. And, a few days later, either of them would have probably confessed they like the other. And thus a few years of dating commence.
After a year or two, Laswell would have proposed to her. Although she sometimes did lie awake at night, thinking about what it would have been like for her future wife to propose to her instead, she was just that smitten by her. As she works for the CIA as well, Laswell knows her wife is just as capable as she is. Maybe she doesn’t know as many languages, but it doesn’t matter to her, once they go on vacation Laswell can play interpreter. And on vacations they went together. Not very often, mind you, since the both of them were stationed anywhere in the world, but they would try to see the nicer parts of the world together. Amsterdam, Kyoto, Vienna. All of that stuff. By that time, they had already long since moved in together.
So, it isn’t often the two of them get to see each other in general, but that’s why they cherish what little time they can spend together. Their love never falters, and when they’re alone behind doors it’s kind of sickeningly sweet how they treat each other. It used to be worse when they were younger, but they’ve since mellowed out a little bit. So, when Laswell is home, her domestic situation can be a bit lonely. But for the sake of this ask we’re going to say her wife is actually home this time.
She doesn’t like to cook very much, so there won’t be too many homemade meals. Her wife can only be convinced to stand behind the stove whenever Laswell eggs her on, promising her a small reward, such as going to the cinema together. Her wife never cooks alone, only with Laswell. All those other times she either eats out, grabs something that only needs to be heated up or orders food. It’s only with Laswell that she can get over her disdain of cooking.
However, other than that, the two of them will take turns doing chores. If either of them just came home from work, then the other will take care of cleaning, washing clothes, putting away stuff and so on and so forth. They usually do their tasks together. So one of them will clean the dishes while the other one cleans the kitchen. If all tasks are done for either of them, then they’ll help the other. Since they’re both aware teamwork is important, something they learned throughout their careers, they would never hesitate to do so.
Laswell’s wife is a more traditionally affectionate woman than Laswell herself. She loves to give her wife a kiss every morning and before work, make her coffee and maybe toast some bread while she’s at it as well. As she usually gets up earlier than Laswell, she usually gets those things out of the way immediately, but won’t wake her up. It’s usually the loud coffee machine that does.
Overall, the domestic situation between the two of them is very loving. They don’t see each other that often, but whenever they do, they make that short amount of time count. With a kiss and a hug from her wife here and there, Laswell never ends up touch starved either. However, the only thing that had been bothering her about her wife would be her nagging about her smoking. That’s why she’s trying to quit now, just to keep her happy. Happy wife, happy life, after all. Whenever Laswell gets to see her wife content, she’s happy as well. She’d go through all nine circles of hell just to protect her and make sure nothing would happen to her. And at some point in her career, she likely has done that already.

Important fun lil headcanon that I love!!
Before Luigi’s Mansion 1, KB didn’t know who Luigi was!
Now, I know what you’re thinking. KB sent the letter in the mail for Luigi telling him he won the mansion, so he must’ve known of Luigi already right? Sure, but maybe it’s not that simple. I think KB knew Mario had a brother, but his intention was always to capture Mario specifically. He didn’t know Luigi’s name until being told it by his Boos. Perhaps he sent the letter addressed to “Mario Bros” and there was some other detail that had the bros themselves think the mansion was specifically for Luigi? Or, maybe KB had one of his Boos send it and they specified Luigi for some reason?
This is the main reason why I have this headcanon:
It is common knowledge that the bros are twins, but it rarely ever happens that someone actually mistakes them for each other. Luigi has always been seen as “the lesser brother” and because of that, people are usually always able to distinguish them. However, the key part of this is actually the wording of this little line of dialogue.
It’s one thing for KB to simply mistake Luigi for Mario, but he specifically says “You must be Luigi!” Must is a very important word here. If he knew Luigi already, he would’ve said “Oh, you’re Luigi” or something else matter-of-factly like that. But the fact that he says must implies that he has never seen Luigi before.
I really like this idea because it seems funny to me that someone who KB barely even realized existed until somewhat recently becomes his arch nemesis and biggest wrench in his plans. KB wanted to capture Mario; he didn’t even consider Mario’s nameless brother to be a factor.

Cass: think early on in accepting that she’s a human being she’d psychoanalyze the fuck outta herself to see where she fits in and be super super super pressed about the entire thing to a detrimental point but as she progresses she’ll be fine. Lesbian, and she’s pretty sure she’s a girl most of the time sure 😄.
Duke: I think he knew he was not straight since he was young (moonlight opened his eyes and broke his heart) but he never really questioned his sexuality at all. The problem is that he doesn’t question it because the idea of gender roles (girls do this. Boys do that.) is so engrained in his mind that it’s not even something he thinks can be changed, if that makes sense? Anyways I don’t think he’s the type to get dysphoria he moreso experiences euphoria when exploring his gender identity. I think he would realize he has different views on his own gender when he sees other people expressing their own differently. Like genuinely he goes to school and sees another boy wearing lipstick and his brain blows up. As of this very moment he’s “exploring” but he’s actually a lil scared to genuinely confront himself about this and uses “there’s bigger problems in the world” to get out of it. End goal is non-binary but for now he’s at the veeeeeeery tail end of questioning.
Damian: I think at the moment Damian’s just not thinking about any of that but it’s in the opposite of duke; he knows he’s probably some kind of queer, both in sexuality and gender, but it’s just. Not top priority for him at the moment. I wanna bring up clothes rq bc, extra hc time, in MY mind Damian does express himself a lot through his clothing and getting to the manor made him a bit shy when it came to skirts and dresses. Seeing the way boys, and especially black and brown boys, who explore their femininity are treated, he just doesn’t mention it at all and the scenario never comes up. He gets more comfortable as time goes on though and later on gets bold enough to wear a dress to an event. He’s stonefaced but slightly regretting it till some younger kid sees him and is awe stricken, like stars in his eyes and asking if he can do that too. Damian feels better about it and resolves to wear whatever he wants more often. I don’t think he ever comes out in big big way (he’d tell the people closest to him but everyone else can just figure it out) but he genuinely doesn’t feel the need to label himself at all.

if you think byan hasn't broken bones numerous times in their parkour adventures... you would be wrong. they don't make mistakes often these days, but in the past, especially as they were first learning (as in, teaching themself), there were many mishaps to speak of. their largest scar, one which runs up along their right side, came as a result of a parkour accident (and included a couple of fractured ribs, as well). they've broken an arm, a wrist, a couple fingers, and had many, many sprains over the years. learning was nothing if not a messy process, but it paid off - the talent they boast now is pretty high, and they only get better as they keep putting everything they've learned into practice.

From a very young age, Kaeya held such a fondness for handholding. Whether it was his father clinging tightly to him to make sure he didn’t get lost, Adelinde’s gentle, grounding hand closed over his to comfort him whenever his nerves got the better of him, Crepus’s rough-palmed, firm yet comforting grip as he brought him back home, or, as it was most often of all, Diluc’s warm, yet at times uncomfortably tight hold as he dragged him anywhere, everywhere, determined to always keep Kaeya close and eagerly show him all there was to see, Kaeya treasured the gesture greatly.
Of course, being as shy as he was, initiating it himself was always the harder part. So much so, he would tend to hold pinkies, rather than outright take a person’s hand in his own. Eventually, it would become his most common way to go about the gesture of affection.

Adjusted; yeah; but the sudden Change was deffo NOT good for his nerves#//Clung to Addie a lot to make up for it; until he heard the maids tittering abt how childish he was being#//He quit that FAST; finding other ways to stave off his nerves and show his affection#//Sometimes when he’s drunk at Angel’s Share; he gets tempted to hold Luc’s hand—an old habit dredged back up bc he wants comfort#//But any sudden moves Luc makes; whether bc he noticed Kae reaching out or not; utterly scare the urge away every time#//He’s made his peace with Luc resenting him; but it still stings that the ONE person he felt closest to is now practically a Chasm away#//Not like he helps any with that; running away or lashing out every time Luc tries to bridge gaps or shows concern#//Sends him into fight or flight mode every time—who’s to say Kae won’t fuck it up and make a Luc regret trying?#//Might as well sabotage it all himself—at least THEN he knows with utmost certainty it will end failure. I have this headcanon about writer/artist duo byler. If they were to write a ‘fictional’ story/graphic novel relating to their fights with the Upside Down—like I think a lot of us believe they will, and the govt were to allow that, the caveat would be that it has to be under pseudonyms so that story can’t be connected back to Hawkins. (At least not until the NDA expires rnfjdjxi)
So they write the book under pen names and it becomes decently popular enough to get sequels etc. and they decide hey we should use pen names for other stuff—like mayhaps a gay romance novel (since this is the 90s). So they use different pen names for that. And then maybe they write a few children’s books (bc maybe they have foster kids and tell them stories and) and those have to be under different pen names too.
Nonfiction stuff, like DnD info books and, like, writing books or how to draw books idk, those are the books that are under their real names.
And like, they don’t always pair up under their different pseudonyms—sometimes they write/illustrate w other authors, depending on the genre.
The Party (Extended) all knows ofc. I hc that one or two of them become teachers so they earn Lots of Cool Points with their kids by having autographed copies of the DnD novels.
Then in like the early 2010s, all of byler’s pen names are connected with them. This sparks rumors about their relationship (bc gay novel??? w no sad ending??), so they make a post about it (I hc that they’re on tumblr like Mr gaimem, Will likes looking at art), confirming that yes they’re in a relationship. Been in a domestic partnership since that was legal, and been married since that was legal where they live. They probably lose some fans bc ✨homophobia✨ but they also gain fans bc gay.

Both times, Mike and Will are involved so that nothing unfortunate happens to their stories (looking at u l/ast a/irbender & fake pjo movies)

hey I recently followed you after I watched npmd as my foray into its fandom and One NPMD Blog To Follow (your fic 10/10 btw, greatly enjoyed it) and was delighted by the aro/ace posts you also reblog ^_^ doesn’t need to be npmd, but do you have any favorite aro or ace headcanons?
omg thank you anon! one thing about me is i will be sooooo aro on main
i was big into jatp for the last few years, so one of my fave aro hcs is reggie peters! that boy is aro bi and you Cannot tell me otherwise. headcanon acquired from this iconic post by amanda @secretly-of-course and like i mean it's just correct. i even made a gifset and a fic about it (the fic does also end up aro-fying the rest of the polycule lmao). other aro jatp hcs include aro carrie, aro luke, and obviously the band as a qpr bc that's basically canon. i do also believe in aro bobby because i loveeee to project onto that boy lmao. you may be noticing some patterns in my headcanons and it is that i am extremely biased towards zapping characters with my arofication beam. well guess what i also transgenderize them
(if i had a nickel for every time i made an ao3 series about a polycule consisting of musically-inclined main characters, then wrote subsquent fics transing their genders and aromanticizing their orientations/queerplatonic-ing their relationships, i'd have two nickels. which isn't a lot but it's weird that it's happened twice. if you're into be more chill you can check out my meremine series i wrote in high school lol)
other than jatp i haven't really been super active in fandom recently? i did find a very good aro bi steve harrington series on ao3, which i definitely recommend checking out if ur into that sort of thing
honestly my hcs change depending on the day and mood. i haven't spent too much time thinking about npmd hcs but i mean. any character i like ends up getting arospec'd it's only a matter of time

thinking abt how close tōya, fuyumi and natsuo must’ve been bc they still refer to each other with honorifics ( “fuyumi-chan” “nee-chan” “natsuo-kun” “tōya-nii” ) even years later but theyre fairly formal with shōto by only referring to him as name.
#at most? i think they called him “little / baby brother”#which i do think is still adoooorable#but my hc is that? fuyumi used to call shōto “sho-chan”#but seeing as endeavour separated and isolated shōto - im not at all surprised at the slight formality here#***again tho. i might be wrong bc its been AGES since i reread earlier chapters of the todofam#but yes. very interesting#even after years… fuyumi was a -chan to tōya#blood is still blood huh#out of character.

DOCTOBER '23 ⸺ 「 13 / 31 * PHOTO ALBUM 」
June 12, 2005, 1131 Park Lane, Hilldale
❝Now I know you said you didn't want any gifts, Marty, but showing up to your birthday without even a single gift was simply unthinkable. It doesn't matter how old you are; you're never too old to receive something from the people you care about.❞
Marty hurls a very pointed, accusatory stare Emmett's way and the way the soft blue of his eyes turns to ice digs it in a little deeper. ❝This coming from the man who didn't even tell me when his birthday was! I had to find out from Clara when you got back from the past!❞
Emmett waves a hand, hastily trying to change the topic. He remembers all too well their first year in the future as a family, when Clara had looked up Marty McFly to invite him to be part of what he would later learn were secret birthday celebrations, and the way the boy had actually managed to keep it from him until the day of, where he had vowed to never let him forget it.
In hindsight, this was a much lesser evil to occasionally be reminded of.
❝Yes, well, my point still stands. Here, Marty.❞ He presses a rather haphazardly wrapped gift into Marty's hands that immediately softens the stare that was just trained on him. Marty arches a brow and lifts the gift to inspect it, turning it over in his palms. Emmett can practically see his thoughts written on his forehead, but to his surprise, Marty doesn't shake the gift to try and find out what's inside.
❝It's from Clara and I, but as you may have guessed, I was the one who wrapped it.❞
Marty smiles. ❝Couldn't even tell, Doc. You're getting better. I remember the very first gift you ever tried to wrap for me; now that was a mess. You put so much tape on it I couldn't even open it!❞
How could I forget? They were only a year into their friendship at that point, but Emmett had wanted to get something special for the boy after everything he'd done for him to show him that he was appreciated.
❝I can promise this one has significantly less tape on it.❞
Marty tears open the red wrapping paper with the same enthusiasm he'd displayed on all his birthdays to-date. Inside is a photo album that looks like an antique book, adorned with the words, bonds through time, that reminded Marty of the photo he'd been presented with when the Brown family made their first leap back to 1985.
❝Clara actually inscribed that herself; she's got beautiful penmanship. Anyway, it's a photo album!❞ Emmett smiles as Marty continues to stare at the book in his hands. ❝Since we had the boys, we've been documenting all the milestones and adventures in their lives. And since you and your family have been such a huge part of that, we thought we'd compile some of our favourite photos for you to keep. We have copies, of course, so don't worry about that.❞
❝Doc—❞ Marty chokes on the word and instead of fumbling for something else to say, he flips open the book and starts looking at the pages.
An eight-year-old Verne has his arms spread wide, grinning as Marty gives him his first lesson about balancing on the skateboard.
Marty, Jennifer, and Jules are carrying boxes into the McFlys' new home while Verne and Curie watch from the lawn.
Clara and Jennifer smile from inside Clara's new car.
Emmett, dressed to the nines in a black suit, stands with his arm around Marty's shoulders on the morning of the McFly wedding.
Marty and Jennifer kiss at the altar, looking positively radiant.
The Brown and McFly kids run rampant in Emmett's backyard, being chased by a holographic dinosaur.
Marty and Einstein lay cuddled up on the couch together.
The clock strikes midnight on the year two thousand and the McFly twins are staring at the cake behind the camera while everyone else, decked out in ridiculous holiday gear, beams at the camera.
The photos are placed in seemingly random order and Marty flips through several other pages of photographs before finally coming to the first blank page. He blinks several times before looking up, and there must be a question written on his face, because Emmett says, ❝We didn't want to fill the whole album. There's plenty of space for you to add your own photos. We figured we'd start it, but it's up to you and Jennifer to finish it.❞
Marty sniffs and throws his arms around Emmett. ❝I love it, Doc. Really. Thanks.❞
❝Of course. Happy birthday, Marty.❞
#doctober 2023#i considered using the 3793 oakhurst lane from pt 2 however i felt like a fun change/discrepancy between the shifted timelines#to show marty's growth would be to use a different address so i decided on instead#using the scrapped address from one of the earlier pt. 2/3 drafts of the film#plus i feel like marty wouldn't want to move back to that same house knowing what he knew of his life in that mess of a timeline#even if hilldale *did* go back to being a very upscale place to live; the house would still bring back memories he could do without#and since it's left open where they end up in the future i said what the hell#i also considered the scene from the game where doc gives him the mcfly family album he went through all the trouble to create but#i wanted this to be something different#&; a great idea can change the world 「 hc 」#&; i told queue it would work!
