where is my lockwood & co. crossover with bridgerton in which lockwood & co. somehow time travel to the regency period and now have to deal with the time era’s bullshit whilst also figure out how The Problem is a thing in the early 1800’s when it hadn’t even existed… this is exactly what george wants to investigate. they get dragged to a time where The Problem was active and yet it has never been documented. meanwhile, locklyle were just getting their footing and being semi-more-flirty each other and now they can’t interact in private without a goddamn chaperone. do you think that stops either one of them— fuck no. but it creates so many fun situations. and in total, the trio goes out nightly more or less every time there’s ghost activity.

still stuck on mhok's trauma, unsurprisingly. i keep thinking about the opening scenes of this show, showing us day losing his sight, and mhok losing rung. i really thought that the show would spend equal time and care on both
my first post about this show was pointing out that the first shot of day is a close up of his eyes, and the first time we see mhok, he's holding something in his mouth. and i thought it was so interesting that we see mhok gagged, because society generally doesn't care what people who've been incarcerated have to say. or poor people. and by and large, it doesn't care about the voices of traumatized people, either
and i was so curious to see what the show was going to do with that. i can't believe the show itself was never really interested in what mhok has to say
and i'm stuck on mhok's time in hawaii. the show highlighted over and over again how poor he is, and we know that he didn't like studying. what are his english skills like? we saw singha there, and i think one other thai person. was that the extent of his social circle? he seemed pretty happy to leave hawaii behind, so did he make no new friends? did he spend his days off just sitting in his room by himself, the way day did when he went to songkla with mhok?
i assume he and porjai were still in touch, but he moved abroad at a time when his ptsd was getting worse, and in the wake of a terrible breakup, and he just walked all of that off? alone???
feeling overly protective and over-responsible is absolutely an understandable trauma response for mhok, but you know what else is? losing a relationship, and feeling like you HAVE to go back and fix it, and that if you can just get a do-over, you'll be able to do everything perfectly this time, and you'll get everything right, and everything will be okay! this makes more sense to me in the final episode than the idea of mhok and day having a happily ever after does

“The earth is littered with the ruins of empires that believed they were eternal” but let’s talk why that is an oxymoron.
To love is to be changed, goes the saying. And when Durin is faced with a drowning friend holding out his arm for salvation, Durin thinks little of his own empire. His father, King, is wary: knows that Middle-Earth and all its variations are landmarked with remnants of empires and old glories fallen to memory and time and knows that, like all else, the elves have a time, the end of which they must eventually meet, no matter how long. It is bitter, as all passings are, and inevitable like all truths. To save the elves would mean their own demise; to risk dwarven lives, to plunge deeper into the depths of the earth with its foreboding reality hanging overhead: to dig further would be turning over the soil of their own graves. And yet, Durin does exactly that.
To love is to be changed, and who’d have thought a dwarf would defy king and duty for the sake of elves (read: one half-elf who’d taken up a sword to save his life from a troll or two. Some think three and that the sword be a bow, but that is of no matter) and yet it is exactly what Durin does. Cripples his empire to save his friend (in hindsight, it does not fall in a day or two but years do feel like days to elves), and no-one talks much about how yet another ruin fell for love. When mentioning Durin’s great line, it is with the bitter taste of remembering yet another glory of another time brought to its knees. The dwarves pinnacled in their lifetime, it is remarked, but greed is a vicious master and they met ends in the depths of mountains where fire rears its head with a whip and a wizard would meet his match, where even Orcs and fell creatures of the dark cower in fear. But there is no-one to reiterate: Durin dug deep for his friend (read: the entire elven race). Durin’s empire had little gain from elven timber of a Whatnot Sacred Forest or wheat and grain though it turned the interest of dwarven lords, but Durin—loved and loving, against his wishes and better judgment—who rushed under crumbling mines to save his mining subjects from death defies king and country, and digs up precious ore for a most vicious greed: that he should keep his friend, for one more day, and one more lifetime.
Empires are built to fall: it is the inevitable truth. Someday, whatever day it be, regardless of the cause. Empires believe they are eternal, or so the saying goes, and offers the evidence: ruin littering the earth. Yet all recognize the ruin, and the song such empires once hummed haunt the corridors and abandoned archways. Durin’s line broken, Gil-Galad fallen. Elrond passing into memory.
To love is to be remembered, and Elrond carries the memory of Durin’s hearty laugh and the set of his brow over determined eyes and recognizes its bearing in his descendants. Thorin looks little like his late friend but for the same fire in his eyes, the same secrecy and pride. Elrond is tempted to uncover such secrets if only to see whether the same spluttering indignation exists; Elrond misses it. Durin and his kingdom fall, or rather, it shatters into scattered starlight, yet it still remains. In elven memory, and elven kingdoms, shedding its light onto changed, remembering hearts.

Red Tape tied in a bow (P1 | P2 | P3) (Patreon)
Also decided to give a go to the caption thing again since this one’s rather dialogue-heavy!
[Panel 2]
Peepers: Uhm...sir?
Hater: What.
Peepers: Could you- do you have the full paperwork on our health plan?
[Panel 3]
Hater: Health plan? Peepers what in grop’s name are you talking about??
[Panel 4]
Peepers: It’s really no big thing, I just wanted to see what was (and wasn’t) covered-
[Panel 5]
Hater: Commander Peepers. Are you planning to commit insurance fraud on my dime? And you’re asking me how?
[Panel 7]
Peepers: P- hahahaha! I would never dream of it, Lord Hater!
[Panel 8]
Hater: Then-?
Peepers: I just want to see what’s covered, sir. Like I said already...
[Panel 9]
Hater: Hrmph. It’s all personally approved by me, so feel free to ask, Commander.

goddddd I am such a sucker for narratives built around Who Did The Thing that ultimately refuse to tell you, especially ones that come down hard on, actually, it doesn't matter what 'really' happened so much as what everyone believes happened
anyway, this is to say that I'd forgotten how much I like the Mutiny/Retribution two-parter
every permutation, both of which character, if any, actually pushed Sawyer down the hatchway, and of who each character believes did it, is just *chef kiss* delicious to me

i do think there is a lack of autonomy for laudna in this piece of the story, but i also think that’s the point. she is dead, and in a typical case that’s the stripping of all autonomy. but in her case it isn’t just the limitation of her ability to make choices as a living agent in the world, it’s her subjugation to whatever hell delilah’s presence demands. right now it’s a fight for her to get autonomy, any choice she would’ve made within the confines of the delilah-void wouldn’t really be autonomous ones. realistically, most of laudna’s story this far has been about the fact that she doesn’t have autonomy, and hope to find some way to achieve it. we haven’t had many but she’s mentioned a hope to develop her magic somehow to sever her bond with delilah. and while laudna can obviously make her own decisions, she doesn’t exist as a fully autonomous person - delilah can intervene, can remind her not to talk too much about their shared history, can steal a rock from imogen’s hand, can call forth doubts that any of her friends would ever care about her in a way that matters. this demi plane isn’t about laudna’s choice, it’s about giving her the possibility to make one.
honestly, i think one of my favourite parts of the episode is the confrontation that bells hells have with all these versions of laudna that call into question what they can know about her. obviously that reinforces the fact that they can’t make choices for her, but it also emphasizes all of these visions as contorted pieces of laudna, defined by their placement both in the past and in the hands of delilah’s manipulation. it undermines imogen’s knowledge of laudna, “matilda?” “who is this?” and it also undermines ashton’s knowledge of laudna, causing him to momentarily flip from We Can’t Focus On The Past to “tell her it’ll hurt.” and arguing to keep following the shadows. this part isn’t laudna’s story, but that doesn’t make her a plot piece or a non-agent, I don’t think marisha would’ve been called back to the table for such a small scene - that, though impactful, wasn’t necessarily Essential - if that was true.
anyway, tldr, i think we’ll get to see laudna’s story and her autonomy in the aftermath of whatever happens going forward. now that she maybe has autonomy - or perhaps even if she still doesn’t have it, how that informs her life is something i think has to be explored in her Life, not her death.

How do you feel about the JaviAmelia shippers who hate on OllieAmelia (and Ollie in general)? For me, I think it's kind of silly and we should respect each other's ships/faves even if they aren't for us
I do think we should respect each other’s ships but I would be lying if I said the actions of some Javiamelia shippers haven’t left a sour taste in my mouth. I had someone attack me on a post I made about having a feeling about Amelia and Ollie being cannon as well as quite few people thinking it was appropriate to slide into my DMs about it. Ollie is almost a modern Connor in my eyes, (everyone knows a jerk like this in real life and generally he is also receiving the same character arch as Connor did). I like Ollie a lot he reminds me of my dad for all the good and bad that comes from a guy who told me that ‘it’s only multi variable calculus, it should be easy’ (it wasn’t but I still love him even if he wasn’t too happy with my B-). He’s also really really funny in the context of a show that fully acknowledges mystic force happened in a way similar to Preston believing in magic. I think we should make some fun of him but no more than any other ranger because also it’s a bit like how everyone hated on Dax in Operation Overdrive but when I rewatch, sure I cringe a little but he’s still fun in his own right. There’s a difference between making some light hearted ribbing at a character’s expense and then just whatever’s been going on with some of the Javi x Amelia shippers.
Generally though I didn’t care about Javi x Amelia either way I just figured it was different but nothing else about it until people attacked me just just reading into the subtext of a children’s show which since it for children normally follows a predictable plot. after that even just seeing that ship made me feel rotten inside and I’ve done my best to block it since it’s not the ship it’s self that’s ever made me feel any type of way but the my way or the high way kind of shippers and the way they’ve made me connotate being yelled at online with their ship . As a veteran of the supernatural fandom I can easily say this is not the worst thing I have ever seen on tumblr but it feels different when people choose to call you a bad person just for making one post about a couple in a kids show that was very obvious from a story telling stand point since most of the time when they have two rangers pretend to be a couple early in the show they almost always end up cannon by the end so the psychic scene kinda gave it away for me. It’s a pattern we’ve seen multiple times in the show like with Shelby and Tyler and I thought it was kinda cute so I made a post which opened Pandora’s box of just unwarranted attacks.
There’s nothing inherently wrong with the ship and Ollie is a good character and I wouldn’t have him be replaced with anyone else on the show but the way the shippers feel the need to act sometimes does make me actively avoid it block it on all my socials. I don’t have a problem with anyone who ships anything or likes any character as long as they don’t come after me for liking something else or taking something I’ve made for my ship and turning it into something it isn’t to fit their views.
Frankly I only post as much Ollieamelia on my blog as I do now as a way to ward off more people like that. If you don’t like sand, stay out of the sandbox.
