Tag Game: 911 Lone Star Fandom Edition
Tagged by @rmd-writes and this is probably the first tag game I've done in... *checks calendar* I can't count that high 🤷🏻♂️
When did you first start watching Lone Star? Who or what introduced you to the show?
I've been watching since the pilot premiered on Sunday, January 19, 2020 🙃 I actually was still watching OG 911 at that time with @emisfritish and we were trying to decide if we wanted to watch the upcoming spinoff or not, so we checked out the trailer. Saw that first little clip of Carlos Reyes and that moment of Tarlos getting down to business in 1x02 and I was suddenly way more interested in LS than I had ever been in OG (sorry not sorry). And though she never really joined the LS fandom, I do still get to experience @emisfritish watching LS episodes for the first time (even if it's sometimes months after they air) and it's one of my favorite things.
Which season is your favorite?
Season 3, for sure. Best viewing experience of any season, really strong storylines, so much more Carlos than the previous 2 seasons (combined), the full tarlos arc from exes to fiancés and all the really good growth for them in-between those two moments... I don't know that the show will ever reach those heights again, but I'm so glad I got to experience every moment of it in real time.

LOL such a mystery, my favorite character is obviously Caleb. Love that dumbass.

If you could pick any character to be given a "begins" episode, who would it be and what would that episode look like?
First I will say that I'm really happy that we don't do "Begins" episodes with LS because I remember wanting to skip so many of those when watching OG (never grew attached to any of the characters, maybe I'd like them better in LS but let's not risk it) and I think there are more organic ways to incorporate backstory into the narrative than to say "here's 45 minutes of backstory!"
ANYWAY
For a very long time my answer was uncontestedly Carlos Reyes, and I would still love to get every single moment of his life from his birth until now, but also... I don't know, I think at this point in the show we've gotten so much of Carlos's history (through what is sometimes messy writing, sure, but we still got it) that it feels selfish to keep asking for more when a character like Paul still feels really undervalued on the show. So, maybe Paul? But, also Carlos because... I'm me 🤷🏻♂️
What is a scenario or storyline that you would like to see in season 5?
Honestly, I would like to see Carlos have to face the consequences of his actions in the s4 finale. I love him, I would die on every damn hill for him, and I fully tracked his rationale for why he did what he did, but it was still really messed up, and I would love to see him battling with those decisions and what they mean for him at the top of the season. I'm not against Carlos struggling and messing up sometimes (two of my favorite episodes are "Cry Wolf" and "In Sickness and In Health"), but it's a way more interesting narrative if we actually see him confronting his mistakes rather than them disappearing into the unknown like most of the consequences on LS... Also, Rafa would destroy scenes like that and I always want to see Rafa at the top of his game.
Would also love to see him get a different job but that seems unlikely and we'd lose that glorious utility belt strut
What do you think is going on in this still?
I do think it's most likely related to Gabriel's murder. It could be an update on where the Rangers are at in the case, it could be them calling Carlos in to assist with something (undercover Carlos mayhaps?), or maybe Carlos got suspended after what he did last season and this is him receiving a call from his boss with an update on his job status... honestly, no idea, but it's making me want to know things so fuck you tim minear
We all know about the elusive 5x05 spicy scene that has been teased, so what is your prediction for how it could possibly top 1x02?
See, I thought elements of the 2x12 sex scene were better than the 1x02 sex scene because there was all of this added intimacy and emotion between them, which just makes every touch and kiss and look and breath that much deeper and richer and sexier. Like, that look Carlos gives TK after taking his shirt off while straddling TK's thighs? That's sex right there. So, honestly, I don't know what they're going to go through between 5x01 and 5x04, but as long as the 5x05 scene contains all of that context that makes the moment about them and how they feel to be with each other, it's already topped 1x02 in my opinion. Rushed, casual, fun sex is great and hot and obviously I didn't hate it, but the combination of lust AND love? You can't ever beat that.
Where was the Tarlos honeymoon in your mind?
You know, I honestly don't know... I haven't really thought about it. Their honeymoon has kind of been a non-thing for me, so I hope wherever it was it was peaceful and exactly what they both needed.

I absolutely have to start out with all the incredible work that @reyeslonestar gave this fandom: I have this one printed and framed, but I also love this one and this one and this one and THIS ONE. I also love these two NSFW pieces by @a-kinkajou (but the AO3 links seem to be broken so you'll have to look at the SFW versions here on tumblr and just trust me).

While I wish I could list every gifset that has sparked an emotional response for me, it would be impossible, so I'll share this one (@maxbegone) because it makes me smile, these two because the vows are ev-er-y-thing (@danieljradcliffe), and this one because the Carlos Reyes Strut is also everything (@evanzbuck).
I mean, the Teacher AU. It's the teacher au. You don't understand, it's THE TEACHER AU (@three-drink-amy). I'm already so in love with Call Me, but that's no surprise since it's from the writers of iconic works like these (@welcometololaland @rmd-writes) The Knave verse is beyond iconic at this point (@liminalmemories21). This Carlos begins fic is really beautiful (@freneticfloetry) and this early fic has one of my favorite Carlos characterizations ever (@singerofsimplesongs). I'm always down for a firefighter!Carlos AU (@reyesstrand) because the man should be wearing turnouts.

I still havent beaten Lost Judgement but like. What a game. If you like the yakuza games? Great time. Still has the mix of serious high angst crime thriller plot with very silly ridiculous slice of life side stories that still can also manage to hit your heart. I'm still thinking about the Ace Attorney spoof side story about missing dessert, and the fotune teller, and the haunted apartment. And the main story where I had to get a nice dessert for the coworker to help us, and god just. All of the guy whos ir friend in the sexy silk shirt as Usual these kinds of games giving gratuitious eye candy so theres always that. The anonymous mask wearing punk kid (who i actually really like).
The fact ur a detective but Not a yakuza this time i find fun, and NOT a cop so u can kind of live out the fun of playing out the equivalent of a crime drama u would watch without having ur lead be a cop. Instead hes a lawyer who won a defense case! But ex lawyer, cause his defendant killed again! But also it may have been a setup! Either way taku has lost his judgement (get it) over whats truly the truth or not! As is typical for rgg games Lost Judgements angst emotional heavy half of the plot IS fucking heavy! Which keeps my attention. While all the other stuff drags me off. I lose 20 hours being a small time case detective, i lose another 5 trying to do a romance side plot (and tbh i find these ones a mixed bag? The romances are good in that the girls have genuine character side stories i find fun and interesting and with meaning, much like the cabaret girl side stories in kiwami 2, but theyre awkward in that im making taku a cheater cause i dont wanna miss out on a story and ;-; im sorry taku im sorry girls! Whereas yakuza kiwami 2 kiryu was... very much just their friend... im mixing up yakuza games but theres one where u befriend tje cabaret girls and ones in a manga competition and thats the one). Like... i very much liked rgg7s friendship bonds, but hated the romances cause the romances felt like some kind of add on trophy thing where the party friendship bonds werw genuine side stories. And like why not make romance a good side story? Im only HERE doing a romance for rhe side story! ToT so like. Lost Judgements is a mixed bag. Better than rgg7s but i kinda prefer just friend bond side stories skip the dating altogether, tho i realize thats more kiryus style than other protagonists.
Possibly the most Intense element to me of Lost Judgement is. U sure do feel immersed. In being a confused fucking detective. I stopped playing the game for 6 months, came back to it right at the pharmaceutical company investigation. Fucking hell. I had to interrogate and answer like court related questions i didnt even remember the fucking case. I was afraid to game over. Or to dig taku in a very big hole of failure id be penalized trying to climb out of. I felt like OH NO i shluldve studied my case files for clues! In that terrible instant of remembering nothing i was whooshed back to memories of playing law and order on a windows 98 trying to solve the mysteries, and every mystery show i ever watched trying to pay attention to the clues, lamenting id forgotten and was about to ruin takus life. (For the record i guessed like a very amazingly lucky champ, and answered right enough to get thru it). But wow did i feel in the middle of a detective story.

tell me about drawtectives. what is this little show.
oooooh my god oh my god. they are my guys. so.
drawtectives itself is a youtube series created by julia lepetit on Drawfee. it's an rpg mystery show– s1 is a murder mystery, s2 is just a mystery– that doubles as an art challenges show. she draws all of the backgrounds and npcs and most of the assets (the 'cutscenes', you could call them) and then the team gets together, knowing absolutely nothing besides what julia's asked them to prepare, and does some funky improv to create a very funky storyline.
there are 3 players and one dm; the pcs are rosé, york, and grendan/grenda/grandma/gma, and the Big NPCs are Jancy True (s1/s2) and Eugene Finch (s2) and they're, in their own words, a found family, so. beloved. their backup plan if all their jobs fail is to move out east and open a bookstore. jancy and eugene have fully accepted their titles as mom/ancestral ghost and son despite meeting each other likely once before the drawtectives dragged them together. overall though if i had to summarize, it's a bunch of friends getting together, making a bunch of puns, appreciating julia's art, and laughing together. the vibes are 10/10 so loving. in writing the transcripts i've written (Karina laughs) (Nathan laughs) (All laugh) So Many Times it's just fun.
so there's three pcs. first one we meet is gyorik 'york' rogdul, who's a half-orc come to the city to learn about his mother's culture. he is the character we have by far the most lore for– if I compiled all the lore I had about the Northern Tribes and Wild Trains, I think the document would be multiple pages. he's also illiterate, which was an interesting decision for the english major of the group to make (in other words, York Will Not Be Illiterate For Season Three bc Y'all Cannot Read) and morally gray if you think about it too hard (he killed his own brother) but yknow he's hot so it's okay. they're all hot any crimes committed are okay. he's also aroace (confirmed by the player, which is!! vibes!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TELLING ME @axolotllee!)
rosé is the Human Rogue and the youngest of the party; her main trait in s1 was Millennial and she Dealt with that. she, in contrast with York, has so little lore we are scraping the barrel. she was a thief, then left everything about that life behind and changed her name to rosé when she went to work for jancy. she lied on her resumé. she knows how to sew; she's sewn Pockets of Holding on most of her clothing. she bonded with a stray cat that lived outside her last apartment. she's three credits short of graduating college. she's, in addition to being a drawtective, jancy's intern, and cried when jancy got her a cupcake. she won't tell her best friends when her birthday is or where she goes to school or what her last name is. that's all we know about her and i love her and she could probably kill someone as she has multiple knives on her person and does not use them. she's bright and funny and can be pretty dark but really does find the humor in it which is. wonderful.
so grendan highforge starts out as The Snobby Rich Boy which. already love the trope something Always Happens To Them if they're a pc. then through s1 they make an offhand comment about a character (faucon, whose name is pronounced 'falco') and how if her name was pronounced that way it'd be grenda. faucon asks how they feel about it. they are caught very off-guard by that and then ask to be called it for the next hour or so. then the next witness calls him gma, and then grandma, and then. yeah she realizes she's genderfluid. and he uses any pronouns and has a full beard and also wears a romper and loves dogs and the player is the Most Experienced TTRPG-er so through maybe using resources a bittt grandma is the most observant character of all of them. he's also a dog walker and a lightweight and does canonically have druidic magic though that was Not Touched On Much and showed up to their first day on the job slightly stoned (they did stop doing that though.) she carries around a box to make the height difference (york is 7'. grendan is 4'. rosé is 6'. you can see the formatting issue) slightly less difficult. she doesn't know how rhinos reproduce but has had a fascination with them since a police chief said one might've committed a crime. i think they could kill someone by talking too much but they don't actually have the strength or dex to do Jack Shit.
and jancy true is the head pi (a great many of the characters are puns and i love it so much) and is there to make sure things get done and clues don't get missed. she has a cochlear implant and uses a cane and solved s1 just by Reading The Paper and hearsay. she solved about half of s2 before Someone Stopped Her. she says hello children to the drawtectives and it is such a fond thing. eugene is. a guy who i love. julia started the show thinking he would be some mysterious character to join them and then made the wonderful improv decision– avoiding having to do npc-npc conversation– of saying 'yeah eugene is spinning a camera on its stand' and rosé just says so gleefully. 'guys. i think he's stupid.' and he became their son. his character is a lot of The Plot of s2 so i don't want to get into it too much but. jancy and eugene my beloved.
they're just. such a family. to quote nathan (grenda's Player) from the s2 talkback: "That's one of my favorite things about this show, is we came in with these vague ideas for characters, and just playing them with each other, they became friends and became better people as a result of knowing each other and solving mysteries. ... Like, we all kind of independently made our characters people that either were distant from their families or, you know, just had tenuous connections to other stuff, and so these are, like, the realest connections they have in their lives."
and then karina (rosé) about 10 seconds later: "Yeah, we love a found family where they bond over just being the worst."
god. them. they're chaotic and loud and feel very real to me. they have excitement and are pretty bad at social cues but they love each other and want to die together because they would hate too much to be separated. i could articulate this better but it's one in the morning and they mean a great deal to me.

i wish i could like. replay my dreams or something, bc ill have a dream that is just super off the rails, the plot is changing every second, but when i wake up i have no way of describing it? what do i do with this memory now.
#from what i remember i was like swimming underwater. and then there was this cruise i got on that you wouldnt be able to leave once it start#-ed. and i didnt like how much it was rocking so i got off. and for some reason the cruise employees thought my mom had cancer???#then i was in some grocery store where everything was really expensive. like a single leaf of lettuce was 8 dollars#so i just stole and ate it. it tasted like celery for some reason. then it turned into a murder mystery trying to figure out who ate it#so i changed into a different character to escape my crimes#and then i was in a concert somehow??? but they also had audience interaction on stage like it was a magic show or something#everyone voted to make the volume as loud as possible but it wasnt actually that loud (i guess my dream was nice enough to spare me from -#- sensory overload. i guess)#then jojo siwa was there performing her weird karma dance but she forgot it#and she also got her teeth like. incased in a block of crystal inside her mouth#except she had multiple layers of teeth like a shark does#then i woke up. weirdass dream

jam i have a question. who is eliot spencer... where is he from. what makes him ur number one blorbo and what do u understand abt him that no one else does <3
partridge thank you so much for this ask i need you to know you made my entire morning. eliot spencer is. my specialest guy my blorbo of all time i love him so so so so much. he's from the tv show leverage, which aired from 2008-2012* and isn't immune to the downfalls of that era of tv in general but that. honestly does a comparatively outstanding job to ME. it holds up and also the premise is "what if these extremely competent hot thieves ruined shitty rich people's lives and helped the people who'd been victimized by the rich people and created a found family together after all having various levels of sad backstory? and there was an ot3 made as canon as the showrunners could possibly make it in 2012?" i'm getting ahead of myself though.
*there's a sequel currently airing but i have yet to watch it & there's certain aspects about it that i refuse to accept as canon (this is a part of me being the most right about eliot)
i am putting this under the cut because. well. this got long
to start with context. having my brain rewired by supernatural and captain america: the winter soldier when i was a teenager is a huge factor in like. *waves hands vaguely* everything. when it comes to how i came to love leverage and eliot specifically. i got driven away from spn because (to simplify things) the showrunners hated the fans so bad and the characters were fighting the narrative but unable to escape it, and i loved the version of the characters that was actively being opposed by the show. and that was just plain not enjoyable for me. and marvel is marvel and continuity of emotional and interpersonal arcs doesn't matter at all to them.
and the thing is i took a sociology class in 2017 and it was making me so upset learning about white collar crime. and @canis-la-trans was like. we are watching leverage now. to remedy this. and i'd tried watching it with him before but this time around it just clicked. and the biggest part of what clicked is eliot. because listen. eliot is in somewhat of the same category as my earlier favorite characters but the thing about eliot spencer is that all of his best qualities are canon, not fanon. he redefines the category. he's incomprable. to me.
the thing about eliot spencer is he's the punchboy. he's the hitter. it's his job to get in the fights and protect the team. and he does his best to come across as grumpy, as not caring about people, does his best to fly under the radar as just another unintelligent lackey with a short temper who's particularly talented at violence.
but that's a performance. canonically that's a performance. and he has the best work/life separation of the whole team. he's not his job - he's very good at his job, and it's what he does and that is a part of him, but where some of the other characters view their job as an extension of their selfhood, eliot doesn't.
he cooks. he cooks so well that he could do that professionally. he grows all his own produce (allegedly). he's one of if not the best person on the team with kids. he loves so wholly so fast. he's the first person to call the team a we. within team dynamics he & sophie, the grifter, protect the other 2 from the worst of the team leader's dysfunction.
eliot's done bad things in the past. and he views himself completely past saving. like. from commentary on the show: he knows he's going to hell. like. his self worth is completely abysmal. i know he would die for the team. in s2e2 there's an episode where the team isn't succeeding at the con, and he takes the fall on purpose. and in a conversation about that he says "i'm not diving on a grenade. i'll be all right" but he says that so readily that i Know he's thought about it. and he would. for the team he would. for parker and hardison he would. he's in love with them. and they're in love with him too and i have to cut myself off or i'll go an entire separate rant about them!!!!
he has long hair. which he straightens. and he looks great with blood on his face. he doesn't use guns. he never throws the con for personal reasons - only ever does to protect kids. he grew up in rural oklahoma and he enlisted to get the hell out of dodge and he got in such a bad argument with his dad the night before he shipped out that he got disowned. and he can't even talk about it until nearly the end of the final season of the show. he never once mentions his mom. and i just know he got disowned for coming out, intentionally or not. he's never had an environment he could be his full self in without fear until the team.
parker, the thief of the team, is intentionally written as autistic; the hacker, hardison, is so likely written to have adhd. and eliot is autistic too, to me. it makes the level of performing masculinity to closet himself so much more insane to me. bc it's also masking. and adding that context to eliot and parker's relationship makes me unWELL.
the thing is is that eliot is a character who's hiding, who's actively doing his best to be unnoticed. and so many people who watch the show fall for the act, even if they don't fall for the whole act they fall for parts of it, and like. They Are Wrong About Him. i have an entire complex backstory thought up for eliot, because i think the only thing sadder than him missing out on the kind of connection he finds with the team is him knowing what he's missing because he had a queer best friend as a kid, & the two of them were closeted together, but he lost contact with her over the years.
the thing is that eliot spencer has SO MUCH GENDER and i know if he and parker and hardison adopted a kid eliot would be ma. never dad. and i don't think he'd even be able to start exploring that for himself until the end of the series.
the thing is eliot spencer would listen to the mountain goats. and there's a couple other people out there who are right about that and it makes me so insane 100% of the time.
and i love him and this is just a list of facts about him and the most important thing about eliot spencer to me is that. he exists in motion. trying to capture a still image or static description in words never works. but he's my wife and i love him so much. and i always will. and i'm writing a fic where i'm going to blow him up. just a little bit. for his own good. this is my "eliot made himself a mountain goats mix tape about knowing he's willing to jump on a bomb for parker and hardison & never telling them that in advance" playlist from that universe.

played the fangame danganronpa another with a friend and i didn't really like the ending but i very much enjoyed mekaru bc she's just woman byakuya togami. i'm going to talk a lot in the tags now
#the translation was kinda weird and bad but you get used to it after a while#i do plan on playing the sequel just cause me and my friends enjoy playing murder mysteries#oh uh spoilers beyond this point i'm gonna give some hot takes for. the 3 followers that care about dangit grandpa#anyway uh. ending. yeah i'm definitely biased bc i don't really like sad endings for the most part#but i didn't really. like it.#i'm not really opposed to the idea necessarily of the protagonist NOT being a survivor it's definitely interesting#but given that this game's take on hope vs despair is that 'hope is created not found'#i thought it kinda sucked that they just left maeda/utsuro to die despite obviously being the one suffering the most#also i didnt. like. kisaragi much. him/his alter ego being the epic savior in the end sucked bad not gonna lie#i thought he was really interesting in his initial appearance bc he was someone who Knew what was happening#but was rendered unable to communicate any of it bc of his brain damage#but then he dies (which was expected wasn't really upset about it) and from there you only have flashbacks to go off of#and then he's just kinda boring#it'd be one thing if he was a heroic reliable person we knew from the start but he's just this. guy that shows up in chapter 5#and we get told he's like the best we should trust him and believe in him but. like. idk this guy! it didn't feel earned#anyway kinjou was. a character. for sure.#i liked his arc and all but when they revealed in the ending that Oh actually his beliefs on crime haven't changed at all lol<3#he still only thinks in extremes even after all that mess about recognizing the murders were done in gray area circumstances#so like what was that all FOR#also. like. Goddddd. GODDDD. AKANE TAIRA. You ever get recommended to watch something and it’s just not really as good as you hoped
#i just watched murder drones earlier today#it was good#but a friend really loved at and told me it was amazing#and it just wasn’t my thing :(#unfortunately#a lot of things in it i just don’t pick up on it#ik you’re not supposed to spoon feed stuff to your audience but i literally don’t understand what’s been happening#this is just a me problem though becausr apparently everyone else picked up on it#in the pilot when j got stabbed in the leg i thought she got excited and accidentally did it to herself but it was actually uzi#i didn’t know that#like i just didn’t realise#and also the fact that uzi has a crush on thad?? didn’t pick up on that at al#i kinda felt the whole time like i had no idea what was going on#i like elements of mystery in shows but this is too much i’m just confused#murder drones#sorry :(

I haven't seen the new episodes yet. But from what I can gather this show is wish fulfillment and I'm quite excited that from what I've heard so far the plot is going like. The Most ideal way i would have hoped for it to be written
#lb#mysterious lotus casebook#like? oh yeah i can tell its Love and Redemption screenwriter or i wouldnt be SO satisfied#like 1. murder mystery cases check 2. natural scenery check. 3. cheng yi getting to do comedy check. 4. clingy young man with a shizun crush#whos a clingy bitch <3 check 5. clingy ex rival enemy whos obsessed with li lianhua living check#6. enough *bromance you could just use it as the dangai/danmei of the summer tbh (check check check)#7. themes about growing up about illness about trauma about whats right versus easy right versus normal check#8. wedding dress check. 9. my boy ye baiyi who usually plays a villain... pitentially playing one again CHECK#10 a sexy evil lady <3 check 11 the plot valuing sharing emotions as Strength over physical strength (huge check. lead protagonist#is ordinary. his biggest hurdle is facing his regrets and wanting to die and choosing to keep going)#12 moving lotus tower = howls moving castle CHECK#13 cute dog!!! (and not cgi dog like so many cdramas lol)#14 instead of fighting yr rival you move in with him and take care of him mutually <3 check#just like. excellent exceplent all around#oh and for me bonus: case of the week plots with character arcs as the other half of the episode writing#which i find is a much easier structure to watch on and off (like Guardian Torchwood Buffy etc)#also the show recaps the last scene at the start of the new episode. which again is great for making#things easier to remember

the oa. watched this in april 2020 and SOBBED for 2 straight hours after finishing the second season because it was cancelled. its SO good and SO sexy (the house in s2 that eats people. my god....) and SO beautiful. forever mad it got cancelled because the cliffhanger makes me so crazy (i simply love when actors play themselves in things). jason isaacs
murdoch mysteries. well this show is not good (and is somehow still running) but i was Obsessed with it in middle/high school which has to count for something
dispatches from elsewhere. this show made me so crazy i genuinely believed the characters were going to walk out of my television screen and into real life. v funny and v heartfelt and also richard e grant is there to monologue at the camera
taskmaster. its fun! i love watching comedians fail to do tasks. shoutout to the guy on youtube who's uploading the new seasons :) also the new zealand and australian versions are v good

okay but please consider:
the show is almost exactly the same but pugsley helped wednesday unleash the piranhas, gets expelled too and goes to nevermore with wednesday. he loves it there and does super well like immediately. he joins the like Evil Wrestling or Axe Throwing Team or whatever. he joins the mad science club. he and eugene are besties.
the whole series he’s acting as the watson to wednesday’s sherlock but like, in a mean way. in like a “you’re my sister so i’m going to bug you bc it’s funny” way. watsons tend to be the everyman asking obvious questions for the sake of the audience but pugsley is doing it not bc he’s slower than her but to either Annoy wednesday or because HE thought of the answer/evidence/other pov but SHE didn’t and he’s rubbing it in. still get the same effect for the sake of the audience following the mystery but with more gleeful sniggering while eating chips and his sister tries to kill him with her mind than these characters usually get.
wednesday’s absolutely abysmal social life w/ the love triangle she didn’t ask for while pugsley is the muppet critics in the balcony watching and laughing and roasting her.
wednesday having to bribe him to Not Tell Mom And Dad and to help her with sleuthing or to let her borrow his grappling gun.
pugsley rocking sick moves at the rave’n -- a dance he actually DID want to go to and got asked to in like 0.005 seconds. again. i cannot stress enough that a pugsley with an actual pugslien personality at a ghoul school would be a fucking alpha chad popular dude.
pugsley and enid solidarity. they are literally on the same level and wavelength. wednesday is horrified and betrayed.
pugsley and his INVENTIONS!!!! all of them are horrifying.
pugsley knows about memes and he references them and general internet/youth/whatever culture shit when talking to wednesday to confuse and annoy her. it absolutely sounds like a grandkid talking to their grandparent about the internet.
his prank channel had him investigated by the fbi
pugsley revealing her cringefail i-actually-do-have-emotions-ugh-so-embarrasing secrets to people to torment her and wednesday resorting to any means necessary to make him stop.

#I LOVE THIS SHOW#it was so heartwarming and enjoyable and i really like how they've approached some issues#it made me miss math a little that's how good it was alskdjsjhxdjdj#romcoms about people in their 30s and about how education system is fucked up i love you#highly recommend#*people in their 30s AND in love#agna watches crash course in romance#agnes talking#omg AND i was right about mr ji!!!#i really liked his story and character and what they did with it#also hear me out#mystery/murder subplot>>>>>>>>>>> 'they break up for no reason and get back together 3 years later' trope#edit bc i have MORE THOUGHTS#i really like how this series shows how little support teenagers get from adults and how crucial that is#sua and seon jae struggle SO MUCH and their parents are too obsessed to even notice and then when they do they don't fucking care#they both deserved better and they both deserved and needed support and love from adults around them#it was... interesting to watch this show with my mom too#we both hated the moms in the show and my mom was FUMING with rage sometimes#but at the same time i did have to like. explain. that high school really is such a nightmare education and well being wise#it's definitely not to THAT extend here but it's pretty harsh too especially when you have to face everyone's expectations for you#what i'm trying to say is: it's a pretty good critique of how fucked high school is and how it pushes teenagers to their limits

My final verdict on the Wednesday show is that they weren't confidant enough to go in one direction. Is it more of a comedy? Is it supposed to be serious? (yet there seems to be some holes in the interactions)
They established several things to never really do something with them... Is what I feel
#mostly the show trying to be feminist ™ but then the male romantic interests had no development#and those relationships brought very little to Wednesdays development#the friendships did more to her#the whole solving the murder mystery#like i get Wednesday trying to find the answer but her working with the cops?#trying to get the killer into jail#idk why she got to that want... like isn't she supposed to like murder etc#and the way her parents were chill with being murders but whenever smt related with Wednesday like she tries to kill someone as well#and suddenly it is a problem#and i dont think they highlighted enough that it was due to society and not really what the family actually view#but idk#to be honest i speedran the show and probably there are things that weren't that bad#but to me personally it didn't make much sense#like tyler... why are we trying to make him the good guy but then the bad and then kinda good again#idk i feel like his character was a bit of a mess#like definine him as something pls!#i actually would have loved to just have him as a killer#like i watched Hannibal and killing eve#give me stuff like that but more teen appropriate i guess#alao the director having the love triangle with Wednesday parents.... but that didn't really lead anywhere did it 😭😭

😊 The Useful Uncle (The Adventures of Nick & Carter #5) (Frank W Butterfield, author) - I just genuinely love that this series has taken Nick from basically a sort of gay Sam Spade to someone who gets a personal call from the queen of England asking him to deal with a rogue former CIA agent on a murder binge.

🥰 👂 The Hollow (Hercule Poirot #26) (Agatha Christie, author; Hugh Fraser, narrator) - some really excellent character work in this one; one of those times where AC really gets the complexity of humans. plus Lucy Angkatell, my ADHD queen.
