The Mellarks - part two

once again there’s a lot of good points being made. I agree, Mrs Mellark is definitely a bitch and more than likely an abusive mother. But…

Peeta getting ice to put on his face when Haymitch hits him does not mean he’s being hit by his mother on a regular basis. He’s a WREsTLER! Of course he knows he’s supposed to put ice in it.

Peeta being good at camouflage does not mean he used to cover his marks. He had no access to regular food, you think he had access to make up? He was good because he’s a natural artist.

Peeta taking care of Haymitch does not mean Mr Mellark was drunk. It means they (K and P) had a hard job to do and Peeta chose to do it by himself. We don’t know if he knew what he was doing, other than putting him in the shower. Which, again, could just be because one of his brothers came home drunk and he saw his mother/father doing it for them. Ocasional drunk twenty year olds is far more common than drunk father, especially when we have no indication whatsoever that Mr Mellark was a drunk.

It’s not the most plausible concept but I really want a fic where Bruce tries to adopt the Red Hood…without knowing that he’s Jason.

Like, Jason comes back to Gotham and is doing his Red Hood thing, but maybe a little less explosively this time, maybe he doesn’t try to have his whole showdown with Batman, maybe less of the whole decapitated heads in duffel bags business, etc etc idk. The Bats are aware of him and cautious but he’s not their top priority.

And then some time passes and for whatever reason, they end up getting on not entirely malicious terms with Hood. Like, the Bats definitely don’t fully trust him but maybe it becomes clear he’s also trying to help in his way, maybe Hood even agrees to not kill anyone in exchange for the Bats not interfering with his business. Possibly they exchange intel a few times or collaborate on a case or something like that, though Hood always makes it clear he Does Not Like them. I don’t know the details but you get the idea.

And maybe then Hood makes a few comments that makes Bruce start to wonder…hey. How old is Hood anyway? And it starts to dawn on him that it’s entirely possible Hood is still Young. Probably 19-ish. Not even legally old enough to drink. Barely voting age. Like that is a Whole Ass Child, from B’s perspective.

Cue B not-so-subtly trying to asses whether the Red Hood has any kind of, idk, parental supervision.

Cue Jason losing his goddamn fucking mind.
