CATCHING MY DEATH, AND I COULDN’T BE SURE

Money couldn’t buy happiness. This was something Fred knew all too well. Born into wealth, one would think little Fred had everything he could ask for, and he did --- aside from attention. His parents were almost always travelling, leaving him in the hands of their mansion staff as soon as he was old enough to walk. It wasn’t a bad childhood, but it was lonely with a butler the only one willing to play his silly games. He made friends, but he had trouble keeping them; he was generous with his allowance, and he started to realize the other kids seemed to like his money a lot more than they liked him. When he stopped buying them gifts all the time, they were suddenly nowhere to be found. After graduating high school, he stayed at home for awhile, just killing time with his video games and comic books. He wasn’t sure what to do with his life. Once the boredom finally became too much to bare, he applied to tech school on a whim and... somehow got in. He didn’t know what he was doing, but he was eager to learn. Fred wasn’t stupid. He wasn’t the brightest crayon in the box, but when it came to things he cared about, his knowledge was extensive. Throughout college he finally made real friends. For years, they were unaware of the money his family had, but they loved him anyway. Life was good... until it wasn’t. Losing Tadashi was something he’d never seen coming, and it was something he wasn’t prepared to deal with. Deep in denial, he tried to be the shoulder for everyone else, never really coming to accept that this wasn’t like the movies he watched and his friend wasn’t coming back. Shortly after the tragedy was when he woke up in Evermore, no longer with access to his father’s bank account. He signed up to rent a building on Main Street with what he had left in his pocket, and turned it into a comic book store. His new one bedroom apartment was nothing like he was used to, but he welcomed the change. For the first time, Fred could figure out what life was like without endless funds to fall back on, and maybe who he was, too.

He tends to get carried away when they’re talking and ignore every other customer that has questions or is waiting to check out. ❀ Vidia Şahin: She’s not very nice, but Fred is determined to get her to like him. It isn’t a matter of caring about what people think of him, he just feels like they could be good friends if she’d stop turning her nose up and give him a chance. ❀ Tanis Mehmi: Another regular, Tanis is much quieter than Barley, and harder to hold a conversation with. He likes her, though, and hopes she’ll feel comfortable enough to nerd out with him soon.

you didn’t really expect him to be disgusted or unsupportive of it tbh - i mean, it’s tadashi ffs! 💞 you know he’d never break up with you or judge you for something like that, but that didn’t stop you from being slightly nervous

but he was ten times more nervous when you texted him, asking for him to meet you by the local park’s fountain bc you had something important to tell him

mans thought you were dying ngl

he almost burst out crying on the walk to the park bc he imagined a whole scenario where he was sitting next to your fkn death-bed 

but you seemed healthy enough so his next assumption was that you were going to break-up with him

so when he approached you by the water fountain and you noticed that his eyes were glossy and his hair was damp with sweat, you were quite worried for him now

‘tadashi! are you okay?! your eyes are all puffy and red! do you have hay fever?’

yamaguchi rapidly shook his head, hastily escorting you to a nearby park bench so you could sit down beside him, ‘it’s nothing; what is it that you want to tell me?’

‘oh’ you choked, quickly averting your gaze from his kind, damp eyes. ‘it’s- um, i don’t-’ you cut yourself off, mentally cursing at yourself as you had practised what you were going to say to him hundreds of times before he arrived yet you still couldn’t stammer it out

yamaguchi was hanging on each word you uttered, but once he noticed that you were struggling, he placed his hands upon yours and shot you a reassuring smile

you let out a sigh in hopes to relieve your nerves while rehearsing what you were gonna say one more time in your head before blurting it out,

‘babe, erm, i’ve been questioning for a while and i’ve concluded that i’m bi - as in bisexual; and i just thought i’d tell you bec--’

you genuinely thought that you might have to explain to yamaguchi what bisexual means so IMAGINE your surprise when he simply replies, ‘you’re bisexual? is that all you wanted to tell me?’ and once you hum in agreement, he lets out a heave of euphoric relief

‘(y/n), please don’t make fun of me but on the way here, i was almost gonna cry because i thought you were going to tell me something horrible.’ he clutched his chest, breathing heavily - usually he’d never admit to something like that but right now, he felt that it was appropriate

you snickered at his rather exaggerated actions, ‘awh, baby. i’m sorry.’ a pout formed on your lips as you soothingly rubbed his back.

yamaguchi rapidly shook his head before turning the tables and rubbing your back instead, ‘nonono, it’s fine! i’m fine!- and i’m glad you’re fine too.’ he stumbled, hastily placing a kiss on your cheek before whispering in your ear, ‘i’m so proud of you. congratulations!’

although you couldn’t see his face, you could tell from his light voice that he was beaming 

after that, he buried his nose into the crook of you neck and snaked his arms around your waist to pull you into a hug, which you both stayed in for a good 5 minutes

Kei Tsukishima

let’s be honest, tsukki’s definitely part of the lgbtq+ community but in deep denial

like if you ask him, he’s not even questioning his gender or sexuality, he’s just ✨straight ✨

so when you just randomly joked one day ‘oi, four-eyes, turn this shit off. she’s too much for my lil’ bi heart to handle.’ while y’all were watching a movie and you instinctively made an off-hand comment about how gorgeous the female lead was 

upon realising what you just said, you turned to him with the most awkward grin plastered on your face, ‘tsukki, i’m bisexual, by the way.’

‘no shit, sherlock.’ he hissed at your use of that little nickname 

you turned your head to look at him as you blinked rapidly, finally  mentally processing his response 

while he did the exact same thing simultaneously, dramatically turning his head to meet your gaze before muttering, ‘was that you coming out?’

your eyes widened as you realised, then nodded slowly

tsukishima smirked, shifting his attention back onto the movie, ‘congrats.’ he spoke in a mellow voice, a slight sense of amiability laced into his tone 

‘thanks-’

‘have you told your parents yet?’ he quirked a brow, his eyes remaining glued to the screen

you hesitated before shaking your head, ‘no.’ 

‘what about your friends?’

‘yeah, i came out to my friend group a few months ago - along with yamaguchi.’

tsukishima couldn’t help but frown at the fact you came out to yamaguchi before him but honestly, he couldn’t blame you - he was aware that his bitchy exterior probably discouraged you from telling him sooner, so he was just glad that you had the confidence to tell him eventually  

‘so how long have you known that you’re, like, y’know, bi?’  he inquired further

‘a while.’ you hummed, biting your bottom lip, internally so relieved that he wasn’t being too awkward or weird about it

‘good for you.’ he pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose, not a hint of sarcasm or irony detected in his voice for a change, ‘oh, and good luck with coming out to your parents’

‘thank you.’ you murmur, happily shifting your attention back onto the movie

 tsukishima honestly doesn’t mind/care tbh

like he’s supportive and will beat a bitch up if they don’t accept you - but in general, he thinks that it’s none of his business who you love

as long as it is him (ಥ _ ಥ)

ok so fun story 

you were both chilling in his room on a saturday, he was playing on his nintendo switch as always and you were on your phone

you had been meaning to come out to him for a while now but every time you tried, it seemed as though something happened to prevent you from doing so 

for example, you tried to come out to him while y’all were chilling at the park but then a bunch of geese started terrorizing y’all and it completely ruined the mood

so you thought that now you were in his room - where there was less of an abundance of geese - it’d be a better time than any to just lift the burden that had been weighing on your chest

you were as nervous as any one would be but you kept on trying to reassure yourself that kenma would be supportive 

however, he had never discussed any lgbtq+ related issues with you so you had no idea where he stood with that sort of stuff but tbh, he doesn’t give off homophobic vibes 

after a while of staring at the wall and working up the courage, you finally spoke up, ‘hey, kenma. i think i might be bi.’

you mentally cursed at yourself as you didn’t ‘think’ that you are bi but rather you knew that you are bi, yet you felt the need to add that filler just in case things went sour

he perked up upon hearing this and turned to look at you, a small smile gracing his lips, ‘okay, that’s cool. congratulations.’ 

you couldn’t help but beam back at him, ‘thanks, babe.’ you almost whispered, gladly going back to whatever you were doing on your phone

honestly, you were happy to leave the interaction at that - i mean, his brief and calm response was satisfying beyond expected, as it was probably the least awkward way that could’ve possibly gone down

however, what happened next filled you with endless amounts of euphoria 

‘oh, and (y/n).’ kenma said to grab your attention, ‘i’m bisexual.’

you did a double-take 

your instincts told you to throw yourself into his arms and rave on about how proud you are that he had the courage to come out but after a moment of reflection, you had a better idea

‘okay, that’s cool. congratulations.’

kenma automatically pouted at how you used his own words against him when he was clearly expecting a hug, ‘(y/n)..’ he whined lowly, shifting his gaze back onto his game

but you were weak so ofc you pulled him into a hug as you both muttered sweet, reassuring things into each other’s ears

‘i love you so much, (y/n) no matter what.’

‘i know.’ you snickered.

‘bitch-’

‘i love you too. and i’m so proud of you for coming out - you’re so brave.’

‘aw, thanks. so are you, babe.’

denial. it didn’t happen. it never happened. what are you talking about guys?

it's probably going to be too depressing, but i want to talk about Fred and George and why Fred's death seems to hit harder than any fictional character’s death ever has before. there’s gotta be a reason for it, so here we go meta-ing (if this counts as a meta?)

first of all, some observations and a little personal backstory.

I’m not a twin, but I have a brother who might as well be. we’re less than 20 months apart in age, and we grew up doing everything together. we shared a room for a little while (until my sister was born), and I’ve always said that we were meant to be twins. Well, three years ago, he moved away to college and even though he was less than 2 hours from our house, it felt like a piece of myself was missing. I knew I would see him again, some weekends and every holiday and every summer . . . but I had never been away from him for longer than maybe a week. So the first few weeks, I would forget he was gone. I would hear a joke and immediately turn around to tell him. I would scoot over at the dinner table to make room for him, then have to pause and think when he didn’t show up. Being apart from him was the strangest sensation, and I almost felt like I was grieving. Even though I wasn’t . . .

also-- before that, when I was fifteen, my mom had a surprise pregnancy . . . which ended up in a miscarriage. it absolutely destroyed me (and my family). I’m not going to go into detail for privacy/emotional reasons, but it was the worst year of my life and still affects me in huge ways, to this day.

Given these two experiences of mine, I wonder if that affects the way I consume media.

Let’s take a few other fandoms as examples.

when I watched Lord of the Rings for the first time, I watched with my sister. She sobbed and sobbed when Gandalf died, but I sat stone-faced. I was sad . . . but not emotional at all. I felt for the Fellowship, having to face their journey without their friend, but I wasn’t worked up about it.

when I went to see Big Hero Six for the first (and last) time, I sat in the dark theater, tears streaming down my face, physically unable to control my sobs. that had never, ever happened to me before. I got over it pretty quickly, not lingering too much, but through the whole movie I flinched at Tadashi’s name. And that was before my brother left for college. 

now, when I binge-watched the Harry Potter series with my siblings, knowing what was coming when we started DH pt. 2, bracing myself for the ending . . . I just couldn’t stop the tears. I couldn’t accept that Fred was gone. I felt every emotion in the Great Hall as his body lay on that stretcher. I felt the numbness, the hysterics, the denial . . . It may be a piece of fiction, but it was real to me. And for the last week and a half, I haven’t been able to watch/read anything with Fred in it without feeling a stinging sensation behind my eyes.

but why is it like that?

personally, I have emotional connections to the idea of losing a sibling, both literally and in theory (like my brother leaving for college). that hit home to me. It was personal and jarring, and having just watched the twins’ antics through the series -- their carefree nature, their sense of invincibility -- I was devastated.

But I know I’m not the only one who feels this way, though. Even people who have never lost a loved one have intense emotional reactions to Fred Weasley’s death.

And I think . . . I think it makes perfect sense.

Through the series, Fred and George are essentially just comedy relief. Especially in the movies, but while they have a few intense moments in the books, it’s definitely similar. They’re wisecracking, joke-making, prank-loving idiots who have a devil-may-care attitude 110% of the time. They have ambitions and crazy ideas. They start up a joke shop (what could be more tame?). They fly away from school half a semester before graduation, just to make a dramatic exit. Both Fred and George are the last people you would ever expect to be casualties of a very dark, gritty war.

But life isn’t fair, is it?

Fate doesn’t choose only bad guys to die. Everyone has equal chances at life and death, no matter when, where, and who.

That point is heartily driven home when Fred is crushed by a wall. Of all things.

Fred’s death isn’t fair. It doesn’t feel right. and that’s what gets people, I think.

Of the twins, Fred is the outgoing one. He’s the one who comes up with the crazy ideas, while George eggs him on. Fred is the flirtatious practical pranking genius. George is able to calm him down and talk some sense into him, and they are a perfect team. He’s the charmer, the big brother, the friend to Harry. He and George comfort the little first-years when Umbridge is torturing them. They take care of Ginny and look after Ron and invent products to protect less talented witches and wizards while Voldemort is running around killing people. 

And on top of all that . . . (correct me if I’m wrong) Fred and George are never apart, through almost the whole series, except when they were escorting Harry to the Burrow in DH. They definitely were never apart in the movies, again, except for that scene. 

See, if I hadn’t had Fred’s death spoiled for me years before I read the series, I would have pegged him (and George) as “safe” characters. How could they ever die? They’re the comedy relief. Obviously they’ll be okay. Right? right??

But no.

Both in the books and in the movies, the news of Fred’s death is like a freight train to the stomach. Both book and movie leave you will that awful, cold, sinking feeling that this isn’t right. It can’t be.

Fred shouldn’t have died.

And that sticks around the whole end of the book, even years after you finish the series.

The main point is this: Fred was one of the innocent casualties.

His death was unfair. Plain and simple. Same as Lupin and Tonks and Sirius and Moody and Dobby, and all the Hogwarts students (students!) who died in either cold blood or the thick of battle. 

Each death that day was a tragedy. Death always is.

But what I think is weirdly specific about Fred’s death, is that he seemed like a close friend to all of us. He felt like a brother. And knowing that his George, his best friend -- his brother, his other half, his partner in crime and in business -- would have to live the rest of his life without him . . . That hurts. 

That hurts a lot.

So back to my original point.

My own experiences in my life make Fred’s death almost unbearable. While I know my own brother will be around and we’ll always love each other, he’s not close by anymore. I miss him, and I can only imagine what it would be like to lose him permanently (I don’t want to ever think about that.)

The situations around Fred’s death make it unfair. It was completely random. He didn’t get to say goodbye to George, or any of his siblings. He didn’t even see his own death coming. One moment he was fine, laughing that Percy was back on the right side of history and had finally cracked a joke . . . and the next, he was buried under rubble in the same hallways he grew up in. One step to the side, and he might have been fine.

I think the worst part about Fred’s death is that it’s realistic. The comedy duo doesn’t have a fairytale ending. And that’s real life. That’s how the world works. 

Again, fate doesn’t pick and choose. 

In the immortal words of Leslie Odom Jr./Lin Manuel Miranda, “Death doesn’t discriminate between the sinners and the saints. It takes and it takes and it takes, and we keep living anyway.”

Fred was just so young.

Fred Weasley was twenty years old when he died. Twenty.

He had his entire life ahead of him. And it was stolen from him . . . and that stings. His friends and his brothers and sister get to move on and marry and have children and have careers in the world he loved so much . . . And he could have been right beside them. But death doesn’t discriminate, does it?

Fred’s death is unique, in a way. Not many writers would be brave (or shall I say stupid) enough to kill off one of their most beloved characters. And we all know how popular our Freddie is in the HP fandom. JK Rowling, for all her downfalls and idiocy, has balls. At least when it came to the audacity. 

She knew Fred’s death would throw a punch, and that’s what she wanted. She knew the pain it would cause, but for some godforsaken reason, she went through with it. And I, personally, can never forgive her for that.

I should wrap this up before I start sobbing again.

Long story short, Fred Weasley’s death hits home for a lot of us, because it was untimely, unfair, seemingly random, and too sudden. And I don’t know about you all, but the thought of George going through life without his Freddie is almost completely unbearable. 

And also, now, even just the quote, “mischief managed,” makes me cry. So there’s that. Thanks JKR, you’re the worst.

RIP Freddie.

Listen,, at some point during their MSBY years Atsumu took him to a furrycon. (Pls find better flirting techniques tsumtsum, being a furry ain’t it) Whatever happened there has both of them shocked to the core but they refuse to tell, ever since Hinata and Kageyama have gotten into a dynamic weirder than before. Some days they’ll just stare at one another in completely unsettling silence.

Tsukishima Kei: no one knows this but he definitely enjoys the 10+ min songs. Ballad of Costa Concordia??? Volume up! I Want You To Know...??? Volume all the way up!! He appreciates the genius lyrics wrapped in lofi tunes. If you see him showing the slightest bit of emotion while he listens to music, it’s because Will Toledo is, yet again, yelling about a human emotion(s). Twin Fantasy FTF and Teens of Denial are his favorite albums. (gay yearning, that’s all i am saying)

Nishinoya Yuu & Tanaka Ryosunuke: They aren’t into the band much but they def enjoy the memes and jokes. Esp the furry jokes (ie: “WILL TOLEDO MADE ME A FURRY”) this scares Asahi a lot.

Asahi Azumane: like Osamu, he associates CSH w furries. He doesn’t know what they are, he doesn’t want to know. The things he heard from Noya and Tanaka are enough to scare him off

Kageyama Tobio: Not a Fan but he ran into Hinata (and atsumu) at a furrycon. No he doesn’t want to talk about it. Yes his fursona is a cow.

Yamaguchi Tadashi: he accidentally heard a part of a song from Tsukki’s earphones once and asked him about it, Tsukki left so fast and avoided him for a day. (The song was Beach Life in Death......) ever since that day he doesn’t like the band.

Ennoshita Chikara and Daichi Sawamura: not a fan of the band nor the fans. They hope the fanbase will get some help soon. Praying for you 🙏🏽

Shimizu Kiyoko: she’s not a virgin. She’s in control of her emotions and she got her shit together. She has long passed the phase to listen to CSH. Not a fan but appreciates the lyrics.

Semi Eita: def likes the band, avoids the fanbase. He has monthly crying sessions to his favorite songs.

Ushijima Wakatoshi: he holds furry potential. “What is... ‘shabba de bop bop be shibby day’?” Semi had a heart attack that day, Tendou tried explaining the lyrics and the metaphors, Ushi found them dumb and unnecessary. He thinks Will Toledo(and the fan base) is weak and he doesn’t like it.

Oikawa Tooru: if you ask him, he will refuse but he connects with the band so badly and deeply I can’t make this shit up. How To Leave Town? That album was made for Him! Twin Fantasy? Half of it was made for Him and him only. He avoids the fanbase like the Black Plague, he can’t damage his reputation as a potential furry

Matsukawa Issei & Hanamaki Takahiro: not a fan but they tease Oikawa. They esp make memes of “the gay dogs” (the album cover of Twin Fantasy)

Iwaizumi Hajime: he walked in on Oikawa crying to The Ending of Dramamine once and he isn’t sure if Oikawa saw him but they both pretend it never happened. Anything that can make shittykawa cry is powerful and evil. Def not a fan

Terushima Yuuji: furry? Yes. CSH fan? No. I won’t elaborate.

Karmiro Week Day 1: Confession

Two months...

Two whole months...

Two whole months without her there.

And he was suffering from her absence.

Everyone, even Fred could tell whom the young man was missing.

Yet no words of comfort could fill the gap in his life...

... and he knew it.

"Hiro? Hiro! HIRO!!!" a voice shouted, snapping the boy back to reality.

Also causing him to fall from his chair.

"Ow." Hiro said, "Did you have to yell directly into my ear?!"

"Sorry, but you did force my hand when I caught you daydreaming in the middle of our conversation." a girl of Latino descent stated.

Hiro slunk back into his seat with a sour expression, "Yeah, well it's not like we're not going to be able to hang out and talk ever again. Besides, I've got a lot of stuff on my mind right now, Megan."

Somehow, he had unknowingly revealed to the girl his true state of mind with the hostile undertones of his words.

"Alright, I give up," Megan replied, "Who is it?"

"Who is what?"

"The person you're 'not able to hang out with and talk to ever again?'"

Hiro was officially stumped.

"How did you..."

"Figure it out? You're forgetting that I moved here just three months ago. I know what it's like to miss old friends. So, who is it?"

Hiro sighed, unwilling to talk about her, but understanding that he needed to, for his own sake.

"It's a former SFIT student. She was just a couple years older than me, but..."

Megan sensed his hesitation, and like the good friend she wanted to be, said, "Say no more. I know how you feel."

"Really?"

"Of course! There was this guy back at my old school. He was the star of the drama club and the heartthrob of the whole school. It didn't work out for us as a couple because long distance relationships rarely ever work out."

"Wait, what?!"

"But, who knows? Maybe someday that red string of fate will pull the two of you back together again."

"Whoa, whoa! Hold up! This wasn't a romantic relationship I was talking about!" Hiro interrupted.

"It's not?"

"No! We started out as rivals! She got on my nerves, I got on her nerves, stuff like that. But then...she was having trouble with a project...she needed a robotics expert and...I offered to help." The young man explained.

Megan watched as her friend told her about what had happened with sympathy in her eyes.

"And you know the worst part about all this? I never even got to say goodbye."

After thinking over what to tell him, Megan said, "Maybe that's a good thing. Not in the way you think I'm saying. I mean, if you didn't say goodbye, then you said 'See you later'."

The boy just gave a look of sheer confusion in response.

The girl clarified, "Look, do you have her number?"

"Yeah, but-"

"No 'buts', Mister! When it comes to romance, long distance relationships don't work out, but long distance friendships can! Use that big brain of yours! You can video chat, call, text, write a letter for crying out loud! But for the love of all that is wonderful, STOP MOPING AROUND!!!"

Megan took a deep breath and apologized, "Hiro, I'm sorry for my outburst, yet I only did so because it seems to me that you've been keeping how you feel about your friend bottled up for way too long. Please just let it out."

"I'm not keeping anything bottled up!"

"Well, you've moved up to the stage of denial. That's a good sign."

"I'm not in denial!"

"Look Hiro, having a friend move away suddenly, that will bring about feelings of loss, and with those feelings come the five stages of grief. I've had to go through that and I'm the one who moved away. If it helps, it's highly probable that she's going through the same thing. The sooner you get through this the better off you'll be."

...

Later that day, Hiro considered what Megan had told him.

Then he decided to discuss things with Baymax.

"Hey, Baymax? What do you know about the five stages of grief?"

"The five stages of grief are denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. You had gone through these stages after Tadashi's death, but you seem to be going through them again. Is this about Karmi?"

"Yeah...it is..."

"Karmi is still alive. You have her contact information. Why do you not want to contact her?"

"Because... because I'm scared. What if she's forgotten about me?"

"The only reasonable way to answer that is to contact Karmi herself."

...

The next day, Hiro took a side trip on the way to SFIT through the botanical garden.

He had looked at the roses and couldn't help but think about Karmi and her brilliant flower project.

It was thanks to her that his nano-microbots were able to work at all.

He thought back to that awful night...the night she was betrayed...the night she had reached out to him for help...

She had been mutated into a frightening creature just to force him to help the real Liv Amara.

He should have known that the clone wouldn't keep her word, but somehow he knew Karmi was stronger than the mutation.

His pleas broke through.

She fought back against Di's commands and protected Hiro from Chris's attack.

He couldn't help being relieved when Liv turned Karmi back to normal.

Having her safe in his arms felt... perfect.

"Wait. What am I thinking?!" Hiro asked himself, "That's not how people are supposed to feel about a friend!"

But who was he fooling?

He felt something much more than friendship towards her.

Tragically, by the time he confessed to himself, it was too late to confess to her.

Suddenly, his phone rang, interrupting his thoughts.

Hiro was surprised to see who was calling him!

Maybe it wasn't too late after all...

Criticism From a Guy Who's Only Seen Big Hero 6 Once

Oh jeez, where to begin?

Alright. Anyone who's watched a Scooby Doo episode saw the reveal coming from a mile, I'm with you there. Krei's more of a red-herring than Red Herring himself.  

There should have been more foreshadowing concerning Callaghan's dark side, true. Surprise Villains seeming a tad too nice prior to the reveal can give away their actual role in the movie too early. It also limits how much information we're told and shown about their character, only offering extremes.

But! Callaghan's not a one-dimensional character. Actual one-dimension characters are evil just because. Think Captain Planet villains: Irredeemable, mustache-twirling douchebags that pollute the planet 'cause they can. On top of that, they lack redeeming qualities.

Unlike them, Callaghan...

• Is a loving father. 

• Became Yokai to kill Krei due to his grief and anger.  

• Suffers from mental health issues, which influenced his actions.

• Used to be a good man before his rage consumed him. As a professor, he helped his students realize their full potential and genuinely wanted Hiro not to squander his. 

• Isn't a psychopath. Instead, he’s a reflection of what Hiro could have become if the boy had chosen revenge over compassion. [Proof] [Their Similarities]  

• Showed remorse in the end.

"What I didn't see coming were his motivations, which were kind of interesting, but they kind of fell apart because his plan was so dumb."

What? Bad point, my dude. 

And, FYI,  it's an "eye for an eye" motivation. He wanted to hurt Krei like the CEO "hurt" him and Abigail. [More Details]

"Also, just like Hans, and unlike these people [Pixar Villains], this guy goes from normal dude to horrible murderer-man who doesn't care about the consequences of his evil actions."

You know who else could have gone from normal person to a horrible murderer? Hiro.

Revenge clouded their minds, making them both highly unreasonable. Hiro disregarded his friends' well-being and wishes on Akuma Island. He also tried to kill a man.

Unlike Callaghan, Hiro had friends that prevented him from making a mistake. The professor seemed to have no one. But if he did, he hid his pain from them and isolated himself because he couldn't properly deal with his grief/loss. Perhaps those relationships couldn't fill the hole in his heart?

Whatever the case may be, Callaghan was lashing out, and his emotional instability played a role here. An emotionally unstable person is more volatile, which means they face an increased risk of reacting with violent or harmful behaviors when provoked. Emotionally stable people, on the other hand, have the ability to remain calm when faced with pressure or stress.

Man, I wonder what this guy would say about Anakin’s transformation. 

"As if he has a reason to harm other people besides the guy who harmed him."

Well, Hiro - the microbots’ creator, who found Callaghan’s secret lair and brought four more witnesses with him - and his friends kept pushing their noses into his business. The guy's murder attempts on them, while morally reprehensible, happened for a reason.

"What the fuck, dude? He was, like, your prized student. Why do you have no concern over his death that you caused?"

Callaghan's POV: It's not my fault Tadashi ran into the building to save me.

Perhaps he was in denial? His acute stress disorder could have been numbing his emotions.

"What's your excuse to be an evil, murder-man? Oh boo hoo, my daughter is dead. I don't care if it's mean! Everybody's got dead people. That's no excuse to be a fucking dick!"

True, it's not an excuse, but he was obviously bad at coping with grief. 

"Wow. That was the most emotion I've ever felt over Big Hero 6. I don't even like this movie. I've only seen it, like, once, and I had that much to say about the villain."

Hypocrites and Friends | Duck | Trial 2.3 | RE: Everything | ATTN: Everyone

Much to Duck’s surprise, people actually considered to go near him… Let alone comfort him. Even after everything he had caused, they were still willing to go up to him and comfort him… After a bit of time passed, Duck finally had enough control over himself to reciprocate the hugs he received from Tadashi and Jin, sobbing into their shoulders. As expected, Duck had received the scowls and berating from the majority of people in the trial room. Duck didn’t retaliate against any of it, he knew for a fact he deserved this. He forced himself to listen to every single word they had to say.. …However. Others began to berate the people he cared for… They were trying to harm them, too… And hearing what Ran had to say about his mother cut him deep. As if she was trying to make him out to kill Ambrose just to harm his own mother.… Then… There was mother fucking Akiyuki. Duck wouldn’t have even uttered a word if he had just kept the people trying to comfort him out of this… Slowly, Duck pulled himself away from both Tadashi’s and Jin’s embrace, giving them a nod of gratitude before he looked towards Ran of all people with his blood shot eyes. “…D-Do you really…FUCKING think I did all of this to harm my mom? Do you… r-really fucking think… Th-that I wanted to kill my own fucking brother? HUH?! Do you!? DO YOU REALLY FUCKING THINK TH-THAT I WANTED ANY OF THIS!? HUH?!” Duck snarled a bit towards the mermaid, before turning his attention to everyone else, wiping a bit of snot away with his sleeve. “I-I… I just wanted my mom to b-be safe, and that’s it. I know… I-I know what I did is unforgivable… And i’m never going to forgive myself for what I did to my own fucking b-brother. A-And you know what, Akiyuki? Y-You were right…. I was p-planning on escaping so I-I could see my mom and dad again. I-I’ll be truthful there. But don’t you e-ever fucking doubt I would k-kill my own brother on purpose, you fucking hypocrites.” Did… Did Duck just call you all a bunch of hypocrites? Holy shit, yes he did! The audacity of this fucking guy! “Y-Yeah… I said it. Hypocrites. I-I know I have no room to talk in the slightest. H-Hell, I was j-just going to take it… But you know what? F-Fuck it, I’m dying anyways a-and i’m going to say what I have to say. But anyways…. “F-First of all… C-Can I take the t-time to point out that you let your own mother die during the motive. I-I know you have "mommy-issues” and all that, but you didn’t e-even put in a fucking effort to save her. And what do you do when sh-she dies? You fucking laughed.“ Duck looked away from Akiyuki to stare into everyone else’s gazing eyes of disapproval. "And what d-did any of you do about it? Did you chastise or yell at him for doing so? P-Punishing him for doing it? You all did nothing… Huh, f-funny how they berate and criticize the person who a-accidentally k-killed his… O-Own brother and ended up saving their loved ones f-from danger, and yet…. you all d-do nothing when it come to Akiyuki willingly letting his own mother to die.Oh, was sh-she a bad person? I’m sorry, so w-was Haruto, and yet you all still criticize me for that.” Duck took a moment to breath, rubbing his wet blood-shot eyes before he stared back at the epitome of ice itself. Akiyuki.

I-I don’t know… If y-you’re philosophy of there being no grey areas when it comes to these things is correct o-or not… But… If we do say yes t-to that, then…. That makes you j-just as bad as me in your mind, you disgusting piece of shit.” Oh boy, you’d think Duck would be finally done with his rant, right? Well… For Akiyuki, yes. Now he was turning his attention to mermaid Ran. “I-I sincerely hope you d-don’t think you’re perfect, either. Remember, You also voted for someone to die. And h-hell, you were advocating for your sister, kn-knowing damn well you were going to send Sandwich’s sister to her death. But hey, w-wasn’t by your hands, so i-it’s not your fault… R-Right?” Next stop, it’s to none other than Sandwich! Our favorite Massage Therapist! Though, Duck’s face wasn’t as harsh as it was towards Akiyuki’s or Ran’s. “I… I-I want to… Th-thank you for.. N-Not yelling at my friends. H-However. J-Just… Please remember that it was g-going to be either you being convicted a-as a murder or w-watching your sister die thanks to R-Ran’s influence over everyone if it weren’t f-for me being… An i-idiot…"  Duck turned his attention towards Kouki, his face souring once his eyes landed on the beef cake. "Y-You… I.. I don’t really h-have to many problems with you. P-Please… Just feel free to b-berate me and me alone after i’m done if you wish, I-I do deserve th-that much… However. You w-want to know what is also d-disgusting? Complaining that someone’s f-fucking execution wasn’t ‘intriguing’ enough.’ N-Now what type of f-fucked up person do you have to b-be to say that?! Th-that’s just… Wrong.” Yet again, Duck knew he was the least qualified person to say this, but since no one else was and how he was about to die… He might as well die saying his thoughts. Duck gave a look towards Shizuka, sighing a bit. There was no beating around the bush, Shizuka was an absolute bitch. But.. He already got his point across when he nearly killed her. “I-I’m… I know it sounds l-like i’m lying now…. But… I’m sorry I-I did that to y-you. But… I wish A-Ambrose didn’t stop me… A-At least he’d still… B-Be alive…"  Well, almost there! He just… Had one more negative thing to say towards a certain group of people…. "L-Liya… Nanami… Just… Go f-fuck yourself. Y-You’re both n-not necessarily hypocrites, which th-thank you for n-not being one, but you both are just a-assholes. Also L-Liya, how d-dumb do you have to be to preach for e-everyone to keep it p-peaceful last trial then proceed to call them i-idiots? That d-doesn’t in th-the slightest…” Well, that was exhausting to say the least. But… Duck didn’t care, he was going to let others know what his thoughts before he’d perish. He knew he didn’t deserve the right to speak his mind, but once he started, he just couldn’t stop himself. What was meant for only a few people turned out to be an inclusive experience for the majority. He didn’t care if he was yet again criticized for lashing out at them, or met with expected denial from a few of them. Shouldn’t he be crying over his killing his own brother and at the thought of leaving his mom and dad miserable? Yeah, he should’ve… But… This fire in him had sparked after they went after his friends. Speaking of friends…. “L-Lance…” Duck gazed at his grieving friend… His expression from earlier disappearing entirely. “I-I’m… I know m-my words are meaningless t-to you, but… I’m sorry. I… I-I never wanted to hurt you l-like this… B-But my mom came first in this… I’m S-sorry. J-Just… Just please m-make it out of th-this ok… Please? I… I-I don’t want you to e-end up like m-me or… A-A victim…” Duck scratched the back of his neck before turning his attention towards Madoka. “M-Madoka… I-I’m… I’m so sorry I…. D-Did this to you… And same goes for everyone I care about here…” He gazed towards a certain few. “I… I w-wish things… C-Could’ve been… Different… B-But… I guess th-this is how it is. J-Just… Thank y-you….But pl-please stop trying to defend f-for me. I… I did s-something terrible… And I-I shouldn’t be excused b-because of it…. So K-Kenji… Lance… Or whoever… If you have a-anything else to say t-towards me and m-me alone…D-Do it… I do deserve th-this…” Duck glanced down at the floor again wondering how the hell he didn’t even break down when he went off. But…He was done… He said what he had needed to say. He was dying with so much pain and regret… But… At least he could live with this for the little bit of time he has left…  

Describe your character; How do you see your character in your own eyes and not based off the bio. How have you developed this character into your own?

Fred is a lovable goofball. When I found Walt in the beginning, I saw that he was on the list of upcoming characters and I messaged the main to find out when he was going to be released. I ended up applying for Fawn and then picking him up as my second character. I didn’t get to play him a heck of a long time before I ended up having to leave the group but when I came back again I had full intentions of reapplying. His muse had vanished. So I fell in love with Shaggy... and Vitani... and Eeyore... but eventually Fred found his way back to me and I’m happy with that.

He’s the type of character I always fall for. I mean, he’s got the dimwittedness, he’s got the long hair, he’s got the comedic side, the hero complex. He’s such a good, loyal friend. He’s got it all. One thing I really like about Fred is how himself he is. There is nothing in this world that could make him change. People don’t get under his skin. He grew up with cash just lying around but it never made him act better than anyone else. If anything it only kept him from being lonely when his parents weren’t around because he had Heathcliff and his ginormous collection of comic books and plush Japanese monsters. He’ll walk out of his house in jeans, a worn down tee and a beanie. It would be impossible to look at him and think “yeah, that guy’s a millionaire” because he just doesn’t dress like one, talk like one or act like one.

Fred is a dumb nerd and I find that so endearing. He’s not a genius but he sure does adore the geniuses. How he worked his way into his friend group is beyond me but he’s so lucky to have them. I’m emotional over every bit of Big Hero 6, including my sweet Fredrick.

What’s your favorite thing about your character? What’s your least favorite?

My favorite thing about Fred is his positivity. He’s a breath of fresh air to write for. When Tadashi crosses his mind it’s painful, but he’s usually so happy that I don’t have to feel too much to do his replies.

My least favorite thing is his persistence. He doesn’t realize when people don’t like him and he’s not invited. He butts into conversations and he keeps on and on. Even if someone blatantly asks him to shut up, he’s going to start rambling about something else. Like, he talks so much that it annoys me sometimes. And it’s hardly ever about anything important.

What are some of your favorite relationships your character has formed?

Fred hasn’t formed many relationships but that’s on me for being iffy with activity. He’d consider Lightning a friend. He enjoys talking to Meg. He thinks Dustin is cool. Seriously, hit me up if you want connections with Fred because he’s a social guy and he’s lacking.

Has your character changed you in any way? Or do you yourself in yourself in your character?

Fred hasn’t changed me. I do have “Fred moments” from time to time, where all common sense and intelligence just goes out the window. But don’t we all?

Do you think your character has had a big impact on Walt? Is it a good impact or bad?

Nope.

Favorite thing your character has done and worst.

My favorite thing Fred’s ever done is reunite with Honey because they’re cute and I love them. The worst thing he’s ever done is probably break something of value that he hid so his parents wouldn’t find out. Who knows. It’s Fred.

What is some progress you hope to have with your character in the future?

I’d like to dig deeper into his feelings about losing Tadashi. I do mention it in his interactions once in awhile but I’ve never let him sit on it. Fred is in pretty deep denial for one thing. I think it’ll take awhile for him to accept the fact that Tadashi isn’t going to pop up out of thin air and be like, “joke’s on you, I’m still alive” and they’ll all have a happy grand reunion. There is a large part of him that genuinely believes that’s a possibility. He’s never lost anyone close to him before and he doesn’t know how to cope with it. In the comic books he reads and the superhero movies he watches, death isn’t so permanent. Fred also sees it as his job to be the strong one for his friends. He has to make sure Hiro is okay, he has to make sure Honey is smiling enough, he has to make sure Baymax is staying positive, he has to make sure GoGo isn’t bottling everything up, he has to make sure Wasabi is dealing with it in ways that he knows he isn’t. When they’re down and out, he is the one that is supposed to swoop in and cheer them up. He’s supposed to crack a joke and make them laugh. It’s his duty as their friend.

He’s so focused on making sure that they heal, he doesn’t have room to heal himself.

When we get a GoGo and Wasabi -- yes, when, not if -- I think that will really push Fred to look at things for the way they are. Having the friend group back together, it’ll be painfully noticeable that Tadashi isn’t a part of it anymore. The one thing I want from him during the amount of time I play him is for him to accept that someone he loves is gone, they aren’t coming back, and he needs to keep moving forward. He’s never going to stop missing him. But I need him to accept it. And I need him to shake off this survivor guilt that he feels deep down. In Fred’s mind (and this is something I will bring up at some point as it progresses, maybe, if I ever get around to doing anything productive) it should have been him. Tadashi was smart, he was friendly, he was funny, he was inventive, everyone loved him. He had a family that cared about him. He was the center of BH6. He had a bright future. He could have saved the world one day. He had so much to offer. Fred would take his place in a heartbeat... but I’d like for him to stop thinking that he should.

What is one thing you would tell your character?

You are allowed to hurt too.

What has been YOUR favorite thing about walt?

The never ending pain.

Favorite character that’s not your own and why.

— Megara freaking O’hara is the love of my LIFE. 

— Obviously I’ve gotta talk about Honey. I fricken love Honey Lemon. She’s Fred’s favorite person. She puts up with him and while the rest of his friends do too, I feel like she’s much more smiley about it. Every time she thinks about Tadashi I feel another piece of me shatter because I hurt for that poor girl. She’s so smart and so wonderful and so beautiful and it’s like, wow, how can one character be so much?? Isn’t that illegal??

— Also, hiya Dustin. He’s a cutie and he’s such a brave lil dude and that’s all I have to say about that. 

— This is such a random place to put this but Taige. I remember reading her bio a long time ago and just adoring her. Then like a blessing Emzy swooped in and brought her to life and she has not disappointed. I love seeing Kiersey’s beautiful face on the dash and it’s even better backed up with Taige’s personality and Emzy’s writing. It’s the best combination. Ever. Period.

— I’m not actually sure why I didn’t include some ramblings about Tink’s amazing-ness in Fawn’s post, but Tink is amazing. I love the way that Bri potrays her, it’s like the perfect mix of original Peter Pan Tinkerbell and Pixie Hollow Tinkerbell and her friendship with those girls is everything to me. I just want sweet Tiffani to be happy one of these days. Is that too much to ask for?
