psa locked tomb fans go read the tombs of atuan it’s like if harrow got better instead of worse. the main difference between them is ursula le guin focuses on growth and tamsyn muir focuses on pain. the other main difference is earthsea has sparrowhawk and the nine houses have. john gaius. you don’t even need to read the wizard of earthsea first (you should though it’s really good)

Part 2 || Part 4

Even with Thorin’s insistent quips about Elves and muttered comments about his dislike of them, you weren’t letting him ruin your mood. Not right now.
You’d travelled around the outskirts of such Elvish territory before - seen parts of it from a distance - but never this close. Never like this. Nothing could prepare you for how beautiful the sight that was Rivendell looked before you.
The valley before you held lakes and trees, waterfalls and buildings like none other you’d seen before. It looked other-worldly. So foreign and yet so very breathtaking.
The Company was urged forward - most done so with the promise of safety and a warm place to sleep, something quite lacking recently. Your shoulders slumped with the realisation that brought - the night before spent in the hold of Trolls, and the day after having been at the mercy of Orcs, a rest somewhere safe above all things was more than welcome.
Right then, not even Thorin could take that away from you - you were more ready to laugh at him in amusement than be annoyed.
Tumblr media
The trek further towards the city led you and your group down to an entrance to the main building. Gandlaf moved to the fore, and looked down at Thorin - pointedly - instructing them all to not speak, and leave it all to the wizard.
They reluctantly agreed.
You stood in the middle of the Dwarves, still more in awe of your surroundings than paying attention to who was in it, when a hunting party approached and started circling you all. Around you Dwarves readied themselves, still with their hackles up from the ordeal with the Orcs - and with Thorin’s biassed prompting. Aggression swirled in the air around you. Bilbo was pushing into your side as the blunt end of Bifur’s spear dug into your back.
You huffed, casing a look at Gandalf to see him not nearly half as worried as everyone else was, and pushed your way towards Thorin - minding your elbows so you didn't smash someone's ear accidentally on the way.
“Don’t you think this is a bit of overkill Thorin?” you hissed, leaning down so he could hear you better.
“You should think less,” he glared up at you - not an unfamiliar sight, but this time it sent an unfamiliar pang of hurt to your chest nonetheless, “How do we know they’re not going to hurt us? Or worse - stop us?”
“How do you know they won’t?” you quickly replied, “Your distrust is going to do you no good. Keep it up and it will be your downfall Thorin.”
“Does he offer us up insults?” A voice behind you piped, Golin. He pointed at the Elf who was talking with Gandalf - again you felt that itch, an urge inside you that told you you knew his face, and his name, but nothing more.
“No, master Golin, quite the opposite. He offers up food.” Gandalf said.
A murmur of discussion roused among you. You looked down at Thorin, smug that you were right where he was lacking, and saw as he stiffened when he looked to find you already watching him.
An agreement rose soon after.
“Well then, lead on.”
Tumblr media
And everyone's guards were officially lowered - with the lone exception of Thorin. You had no idea what to say to him, or if it was truly your place to say it. He was the embodiment of the stubborn nature his kind was known for, but it couldn’t always be for the better. A fixed personality like that breeds pride, and that is the fruit of fools.
But you knew Thorin was no fool.
“Milady,” Elrond said, falling in step beside you as you all were led up the flight of stairs, “I believe I haven’t yet come to know you. Forgive me for saying so, but you are an oddity among your other travelling companions.”
Thorin a few steps behind you - busy eyeing the Elf. You could feel the heat of it through the back of your skull.
“There’s nothing to forgive, Lord Elrond. It’s quite an obvious observation.”
You heard him go quiet beside you, you wondered if you did something wrong - you’d never met an Elf lord before. Should you have curtsied first? Washed your hands? Kissed his feet before speaking?
“Have we met before?” he asked. Your head turned to him, looking up at him with a face like a gaping fish, surely.
“No of course not - I’d remember. Why do you ask?”
“You knew my name, yet I cannot recall yours.” He said, and you felt your face heat with a rush of embarrassment. But he wasn’t done. “And your face, I’ve seen parts of it before. It holds a familiarity I’m sure was lost to this world long ago.”
“I might just have that kind of face.” You said, turning your head back to the stairs so as to not have to meet his eyes anymore. Maybe he wouldn’t pursue it anymore.
“Of course,” he nodded. But again, Elrold wasn’t finished. “I’d like you to sit at my table during dinner. If you find it pleasing.”
Thorin’s steps behind you became as loud as a hammer in an iron forge, even his gaze felt hotter - but you were always one to stir up coals.
“That would be really nice. Thank you.”
Tumblr media
The Company were all given a place to set up camp for the night, a neat little area with a view that had you wishing you could stay longer than Thorin would allow.
No sooner had you dropped your bag and weapons when you were ushered out and offered a place to have a bath.
Agreeing, you were after led to a small room with a golden glow, and a bathtub full of hot water and sweet smells - truly you’d be out of your mind to say no. After peeling off your travel clothes and sinking into the bath, you let out a deep, long sigh. The water felt like warm molasses soaking through into your bones, proof of how needed it was to let the tension leave your neck for even a moment or two.
The way you could feel the dirt coming away from your hair just by getting it wet was almost by a miracle. Soaps and lotions lined a small ledge beside you, and you took your sweet time to smell them all and decide which one you liked best. Sandalwood and vanilla were you pick that day.
It felt so nice to get clean.
You sunk under the water until only the top of your head from your nose poked out, thinking. You could feel Thorin’s irritation though the stone walls, and it was driving you half mad. Why it was bothering you made you even more irritated.
How he got on your nerves so. With his stupid gruff voice and the way his eyes turned icey so often when they looked your way. How he always took that stubborn unselfish route when it came to your past dealings with Trolls and Orcs. How he looked out for the younger Dwarves like Kili and Ori, or the less experienced Bilbo.
You could see how he was warming up to that little Hobbit, so slightly. You’d hardly know him well enough to say so for sure, but you liked to think that he wasn’t so harsh anymore.
Growth such as that could be plainly seen, even by you.
Tumblr media
Dinner went by with little fuss. Or as little of a fuss as dinner with Dwarves could be.
You were sitting half a room away from most of the Company, but you could hear their displeasure in being dished salad - it was food you didn’t have to prepare yourself, and you were grateful even if they weren’t. Then Bofur decided the music wasn’t meeting their standards - not uncharacteristic - and trod on the table to rectify the situation.
All in all, it drove home the reason why to not invite Dwarves over for dinner - but as rowdy and uncouth as it was, it also was very amusing. You’d almost choked on your dinner because of laughing. Twice. Which in turn made Thorin break a smile - twice.
It was clear from their stories and joyous laughter that they were in a place where danger wasn’t so dominant over their thoughts. For that you were most grateful of all.
Tumblr media
The meal finished, and slowly everyone dispersed. You were among the last, but before you could go and join the others - to sleep, finally - Elrond took you aside.
“A word, please?” he asked. You nodded for him to continue. “I have someone with whom you should speak. She will be able to help you.”
“Help? - With what?”
“With why you’re here. I assume you do not know.” he said with a small but knowing smile.
“Yes of course,” you said, “I mean no - I know nothing about what I’m doing here. I’ll be more than happy to speak with her.”
“Very well, follow me.” Elrond said, smiling more notably at your enthusiasm.
Before you could get very far, you felt a grip on your forearm. Thorin stood beside you, looking up at you with an unreadable expression - or simply a foreign one since his face was often so grumpy. You tried to shake him off, but he didn’t let go.
“Thorin.” You said, voice low as you tugged your arm lightly again, warning him as to what might happen if he didn’t let go.
“Let me come with you.” he said quietly. You had to take a moment to process what he said. He wasn’t stopping you, not at all - this sounded quite like the opposite.
“What?” You asked, looking back at Elrond, of which was patiently waiting a little ways off. “Why?”
“You might need someone there. Just in case.” he explained - or tried to.
You almost couldn’t believe it. Not only two days ago Thorin wouldn’t have cared much less about what went on with you in private conversations, and here he was offering emotional support as if he weren’t the most emotionally constipated Dwarf you’d ever met.
It was kind of sweet.
You nodded at him, accepting his offer. Soon after he fell in step behind you and you both followed the Elf towards a more secluded area.
“I spoke to Lady Galadriel. She sensed you coming, wondered how long it’d take you to reach her or us for help, advice, or guidance.” Elrond said, motioning for you both to take a seat - which you took, but Thorin did not. He stood a ways back, still giving you space to do this on your own.
From across the room a woman walked in - an Elf whose beauty matched the place she lived - the ‘She’ mentioned previously, and the ‘Lady Galadriel’ in subject now, you realised.
You felt a sudden need to do something again - like when you first met Lord Elrond - to bow, or make some other gesture of obeisance, but she took the seat beside you before you were able to get your brain to work fast enough. She even started speaking before you could process the fact she was sitting so close.
“Look at you,” she said, “You’ve travelled so far already.”
Her words touched you, calmed you. You’d never felt so seen before in your life, let alone by someone you’d never met before, and she had only said one sentence.
“You do not come from this world.” The way she was looking at you made you feel like you were a small child being told something far too complex - you supposed in a way, you were exactly that, “If you wish to find a way home, I can tell you, but it will not be an easy path back.”
“Home?” you breathed. “You mean I do have a family? Another life? Is that why I can’t remember anything from before a few months ago?”
“I’m afraid so.” Her voice was so gentle. You sat, staring at your lap, processing. Moments past, long and slow and yet too fast all at once.
“How would I get back?” You asked, looking up at her. Galadriel’s eyes were sad, and you swallowed thickly at what was to come.
“You’d need to die.” she said, “Not kindly, but a ferocious death. Death by the sword is your only way to return - but it must not be one held by the hand of an Orc.”
“Not an Orc? Not an Orc! Do you know how many we see? Do you know how many Orcs I’ve seen us fight?” You felt your knuckles tighten from holding onto the cold bench beneath you. “I could so easily die! Or worse - I could die and not go back home!”
“It’s okay,” she said, taking both your hands in hers - calming you with the cool of her fingers, “There’s a reason for which you were sent. Our world wouldn’t have taken you if you were not able to do what it needed you to.”
You took in deep breaths, settling. Your eyes cast over to Thorin, worry still evident in his eyes, but he set it aside to nod at you - telling you it was okay.
“‘Need to do’? Are you saying there’s a reason I’m here?” Galadriel nodded, her eyes gaining a sudden far off, almost misty, sheen.
“There was someone like you before. She came to our world in an hour of its greatest need. She helped so many of our kind, and now it’s their turn.” She looked over at Thorin - still dutifully standing aside, even though his face was drawn all over with concern. “A change is needed, and when it’s so drastic someone else is needed. Someone with otherworldly knowledge. Those dreams you have - visions - they are nothing but memories. A past in your time, but a future in ours.”
“But those - those dreams are so often horrible,” you said, a panicked twinge in your voice, “Surely I’m not meant to change it all.”
“What a daunting task that would be if it were true.” She said, smiling reassuringly. “But no, many of the things you see are not meant to be changed. You’re meant to protect them. Keep them safe.”
“Them? Whose -” you trailed off, seeing Galadriel looking over your shoulder. You followed, and saw Thorin. ‘Them’. Him and his nephews. “The line of Durin.”
“Exactly.” she said. You looked back at her, feeling her hands go lax in yours.
“That doesn’t sound so bad.”
“If only you knew how much joy it could bring.” Looking up at her, you sighed, nodding. “I’ve said all there is to say, I’m afraid. But know you’re always welcome to rest here in Rivendell. All of you.” She said, directing her last comment over your shoulder at Thorin. You didn’t know what they did, but she nodded once, and then stood.
So you and Thorin were left alone.
Tumblr media
Thorin had accompanied you back to the others, but he was soon whisked away by Gandalf with a few others.
You felt he wanted to talk about what happened with you - since it clearly had so much to do with him - but it would have to wait. You’d heard whisperings about a key for Erebor, and a map - you knew from your just meeting with Lady Galadriel that the Elves here knew a lot. You’d hoped Lord Elrond could help them with whatever it was they needed. Hoped that Thorin would let himself be helped.
Those around you seemed as carefree as ever, laughing and eating without the worries of the past few days weighing on their minds. It was good, you thought, to have a quiet time together where no one had to stand watch.
You sat watching them, content with being a wallflower. Your new sword was in your hands, and you were caught between watching the Company’s antics and sharpening the fresh blade - as if it needed it. Though, soon, a large weight settled beside you.
There Thorin sat, looking ahead, with the edges of his clothes brushing yours. He made no acknowledgment of your presence aside from clearing his throat gently. It took a few waves of heavy, hearty laughter to wash through Bombour before he took the opportunity to speak to you in hushed tones.
“What have you seen us face in our travels?” he asked. You looked beside you, barely moving your head and almost looking from the corner of your eye.
“Why?” You asked, lips soon quirking up in a mischievous grin. “Does it bother you knowing I know more than you do about your future?” You felt surprise wash over you when he looked over at you with a small smile of his own.
“No.” he said, “I just want to make sure everyone will be okay.” You saw his eyes flicker over to where Fili and Kili resided. “Something bad happens, you’re meant to stop it. I want to know how I can help.”
He looked back at you, clear and sure. Steadfast, you realised, not stubborn.
“Dont worry, I’ll do whatever I can to stop it.” You said, “Everything I can, you have my word Thorin.”
“And you have mine,” he said, brushing his little finger against yours, “That I’ll do anything you say if it’s to keep them safe.”
“And you.” you said, a sweetness in your voice you hadn’t even heard yourself direct towards him before, “You’re quite important too you know.”
“Perhaps.” He said, but you could see he wasn’t fully convinced, “I’m going to trust you. I hope I don’t regret it.”
You took his gingerly waiting little finger, looping it in yours and bringing it up between you both.
“I pinky promise that you won’t.” His eyes squinted at yours, quite unsure about that whole act.
“I’m quite familiar with promises, but what does that mean?”
“It means you need to take special care to never break it.” You said softly, eyes never leaving his, “You have to take extra care to never break a pinky promise. If you do, it means you have to cut your finger off to atone for forgiveness.”
“That’s quite the promise.” he said, taking his hand back for himself - but there was something in his face that told you that in that moment he was both as serious and playful as you were. “I’ll have to keep it now.”
Tumblr media
“Too right you will,” you said, turning back to your sword, unable to meet Thorin’s eyes anymore, “I fully expect to see you on your knees with a bloody, severed finger if you don’t.”
He was caught in the middle of a scoff when a voice called your name and a small sausage found its way to the wall right beside your head.
“Oops?”
“Bofur! That’s such a waste!”
“You could’a taken her eye out you daft bastard!”
“I ought to throw your hat out the window for that,” You said, shifting forward on one hand, “You know I’d be fast enough to snatch it from you, right?”
The way your voice lowered sent a shiver down Thorin’s spine.
He watched the way your eyes darkened with the shades of the candlelit night, noticed how you had two small braids that came over your shoulders from each side of your neck, and how they brushed your collarbone.
You shifted quickly from sitting to standing and had the Company in an uproar of jeers and laughter. He watched as Bofur and you played a game of cat and mouse around the room. He had to admit, you did move fast weaving in, out, and around the obstacles before you. You thought quickly on your feet.
He had doubted you, greatly, and he was never going to do it again.

Minifigure Showcase: LEGO Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship Remade
LEGO set 10316 graciously bestowed upon us new minifigures of the Fellowship of the Ring. Consisting of Frodo Baggins, Samwise Gamgee, Peregrin Took, Meriadok Brandybuck, Gandalf the Grey, Aragorn son of Arathorn, Legolas son of Thranduil, Gimli son of Gloin, and Boromir son of Denethor. While the fellowship was certainly complete, there was also room for improvement. So here I have chosen to catalogue the minute changes I made to my Fellowship minifigures to make them more closely resemble their film counterparts.
1. Gandalf, Frodo, and Sam
Frodo, first and foremost, remained primarily unchanged from his out-of-box self. Sam, on the other hand, has received a couple of new accessories. Firstly, he is now equipped with a short sword, to fight in tandem with his trusty frying pan. However perhaps most notably, I have also added a backpack over his cloak, a mainstay of Sam’s on-screen character that to date has not yet been completely captured. I was going to give him the larger pack from minifigure series 19 explorer, but because he is a hobbit I decided to stick with the more size-compatible part. Gandalf has received perhaps the second-most extensive upgrade. Firstly, I replaced his strange one-hole cape from the set with a smoother gray two-hole cape. Secondly, I exchanged his face, which was originally a recycle from a harry potter set, with the far more endearing face from the 2013 Hobbit sets, also used in the LEGO dimensions lineup (where I also got his cape).  Finally, and perhaps most importantly, I gave him a much, MUCH needed new staff. SERIOUSLY... does it bother nobody else that Gandlaf, since his introduction in 2012, has been using the same 6L bar piece, even though his staff in the film is far more elaborate? Anyway, I created a custom build, consisting of an antenna piece, a 1x1 hollow stud, and an extra-small branch piece, all in reddish brown. This more faithfully replicates the tree-branch like staff from the film, which in case you didn’t know, he actually used to store his pipe. Also worth mentioning is that I equipped him with the newer sword mold to replicate Glamdring, otherwise known as the Foe-Hammer.
2. Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli (a.k.a the Orc Hunters)
Following the breaking of the Fellowship, Aragorn, Gimli, and Legolas give pursuit to a band of Uruk-Hai, notably cloaked in the enchanted cloaks of Lothlorian. These accessories in particular are distinctly absent from any and all previous iterations of the characters, but using some olive-green specialized capes, I have equipped each of the hunters in their cloaks. Aragorn uses a cape previosuly used on Elrond, of all people, in the Witch King Battle set. Legolas uses a narrower cape that fits neatly under his longer hair. He also has his rather abysmal recycled head print from the Rivendell set replaced with his far more fitting and accurate face print used in the Hobbit and Dimensions sets, just like Gandalf. And Gimli, taking a page of Aragorn’s book, uses a cape from another Hobbit set (particularly an Unexpected Gathering, courtesy of Dwalin). Aragorn has the most extensive upgrade of the fellowship as I have created an entire new set of legs and torso to replicate his ranger attire seen in the majority of the films. But I made a separate post on that project so I won’t elaborate here.
3. Boromir, Merry, and Pippin
Last of the Fellowship, Boromir, Pippin, and Merry see the least amount of alteration, with their minifigures remaining practically unchanged. Boromir in particular proves to be one of my favorite characters in the Rivendell set. I never much cared for his character in the books and films and felt pretty much the same way with his appearance in the original LEGO Lord of the Rings lineup. The way he was so accurately captured in the Rivendell set, like how his outfit perfectly matches his on-screen attire, and how his sword is a brand new mold made specifically to replicate the Sword of Gondor. Overall, his minifigure was practically perfect in my eyes and there wasn’t anything I could think of adding to strengthen the connection to his film counterpart (apart from a few arrows, maybe). The same can be said for Merry and Pippin, who, despite having their minifigures pretty much the same as in the set, are given brand new accessories. Each receive a short sword, and Pippin in particular receives an apple, to enjoy for his second breakfast of course.

Have any new snippets? For Encanto of the Ring or Mario AU?
I got one for Encanto of the Rings 👹👹👹
This is where Luisa and Antonio basically break the barrier to Mirabel's door and join her in the Fellowship of the Ring
Les get it
-----
Luisa as Mirabel began to open her door, the prairie hills from almost years before shining though. The family tried to stop her but nothing they said would chnage her mind. Mirabel had said that she needed to do this, that she was needed in "Middle Earth". That she had another journey to go onto.
But Luisa couldn't let her leave again. Not after last time. When she came back with scars from battle. Some permanent and no longer healer even after her mama's food. Luisa spent the time she was gone worried and crying, wondering when she'd come back, if she'd come back.
Luisa was snapped out of her trance when she heard Antonio yelling and crying for Mirabel, dressed in what was probably her old armour, something she had obtained from Middle Earth from the "dwarves."
She watched sister walk through the door. The other family backed away, knowing now thay the barrier would block them.
No, no not again. Luisa walked foward without thinking, 18 year old reaching for her sister.
"Mirabel," She whispered, walking up to the door. She place her hands on the barrier and pushed. Nothing happened. She watch her sister get further and futher. No. Now was the time use her gift. Use it how she wanted to, need to. "Mirabel," she said louder pushing against the barrier.
Luisa keep pushing on it, doing anything to break it. She could hear the door creaking shut, but she didn't care. If she couldn't stop her sisyer, then maybe she would go with her.
As Luisa was going to make another push, she saw that Antonio had managed to wriggle out of Pepa's grasp, the four year old making a mad dash for the door. Luisa reel back and used her shoulder to push the barrier with all her strength at the same moment Antonio's hands connected with it.
By some miracle, Luisa amd Antonio fell forward, through the door. The muscular girl grabbed Antonio, using her body to shield him as they went tumbling through the soft grass of the new world. Looking up, Luisa could see the horrified faces of the other family as the door closed and sealed, disappeaing.
"Lulu?" Antonio asked, looking up at his older prima.
"Si?" Luisa asked, standing herself and the boy up.
"Where...are we?" Antonio looled around, metal armour clanking, indicating its aloght too big size.
Luisa looked around as well. Where they were, she didn't even know. But it seemed peaceful enough. Like there was no kimd of danger. From what she could see, there with little house in hills, with little people walking around (barefoot, which was strange to her, but its not like she hadn't seen it before,).
"Welcome to Middle Earth young ones," An older voice sounded from behind the two, Luisa was quick to pick Antonio up, whipping around to face the voice.
She looked down and first saw her sister Mirabel, who looked slightly angered, but also worried. To her right was a man; an old man. He wore a grey-ish blue robe and long pointed hat. He had a long gray beard, snd was smoking a pipe, what was in it, neither Antonio nor Luisa knew.
"I presume you are here with your sister to assit on the journey?" The old man asked, taking a puff from his pipe.
"U-uh," Luisa set Antonio down, letting the boy run to Mirabel; now getting a good look at her she realized her appearance change. Her haird had blonde undertones, and her skin seemed to glow, like a candle. Her ears were pointed as well.
"I shall take that as a yes," Gandlaf chuckled, blowing a puff of smoke into Luisa's face; a small fish made of the smoke swam around her head before disappearing, much to Luisa's awe. "Come along. We must go to Bilbo. For it is his birthday celebration."
"Is it already his brithday? How old will he be this year?" Mirabel asked the man, following him back to his cart while carrying Antonio, Luisa following behind.
"Ah...it is his eleventy-first brithday. He also has a nephew, who you have yet to meet; Frodo." Gandalf took another puff, helping Mirabel get Antonio comfortable in her lap and then also helping Luisa onto the back. "It would be his...thirty-third birthday today as well."
"Well I'll be! I must have been gone quite a while," Mirabel trailed off.
"Are you Señor Gandalf?" Antonio asked unceremoniously.
"Antonio, that's rude!" Mirabel said and the boy shrunk down a bit, letting out a quiet apology.
Gandalf laughed shaking his head as he guided his cart down the path to the Baggins' home. "Worry not Mirabel, he is only curious. Indeed I am Gandalf. Gandalf the Grey,"
"Mirabel talks about you a lot! She says you can do magic!" Antonio said, beaming at the old man.
Luisa watched from the back of the cart as the three talked, intently listening in on the conversation. She had yet to say anything, but to be honest, she was just so surprised she couldn't think of anything to say. All the stories Miravel told of her time here, all the people...they were real. They were really real.
"And you must be...Luisa," Luisa looked over and at Gandalf who had turned slightly to eye the girl. "Mirabel talks highly of you. You must be a wonderful sister.
Luisa blushed, stratching her nape. "Well I'm not...I'm not wonderful, I'm just...you know, Luisa," she said, struggling to find the words to thank him. It was often she got thank or complimented by those other than her parents, Mirabel or Antonio.
"Oh, I think you are much more than that. All of three of you. You are much more then you think you may be. You just need to see it," Gandalf said, turning back.
Luisa blinked before sitting back and thinking. What did he mean by that? Why was he so cryptic about it? Before Luisa could ask a question, she saw a man (was he man? He look after small, just barely Antonio's height...) running down the hill, yelling Gandalf's name.
Luisa watched as he hopped on, introducing him self to her, her sister and primo. He was a strange on, but he seemed to only mean well.
Luisa didn't know what she got herself into, but she didn't really care either. As long as she was able to be the strong one and protect her sister and primo, she couldn't care less about what was going on. So she has to go on a journey; she didn't care. In fact, she was excited. That just meant she could see what this world has to offer, maybe find something she liked!

It ended to awkwardly but cut me some slack dawg 😩😩
ANYWAY I HOPE YOU LIKE IT <3333 If you really want some Mario AU content, just ask 😼

Today on "Lord of the Lunchbreak"
We are revisting Fellowship of the Onion Ring 🙃
As expected the soundtrack slaps
Special effects hold up surprisingly well given how old the movie is
I really like the amount of poems and some they integrated from Tolkien's writing
Aragorn has a really nice voice, can't belive I forgot that about OG childhood crush
The moth who was born and died on the same day of filming its iconic role is adorable 10/10 very fuzzy bab
Definitely wouldn't recommend Uruk Hai birthing ASMR, the sounds of mud are gross af
The stone trolls have such cursed faces
Ok I know they technically replaced Glorfindel but Arwen's entrance is so ethereal and beautifully shot that I can't complain
Asfaloth is such an epic name for a horse
In this essay I will discuss the classical inspirations that Tolkien drew from in using the symbolism of horses and water when flooding the ring wraiths
The palpable relied I felt hearing Gandalf's voice again in Rivendell
Every time I see the eagles I frantically fight the urge to book a ticket to New Zealand
The color grading in the Rivendell scenes make it feel so cozy and safe
Bilbo still calling it Mirkwood 👀 I sense someone is holding a grudge
In Bilbo's handwritten copy of his book he has maps and drawings of Thorin's harp and swords and that devastates me
Always elves and taking no accountability for their actions. Sir if you were there the day the will of Men failed then why didn't you shove Isildur into the volcano and save us all this trouble??
I love the instant bro status Aragorn and Boromir adopt in their first meeting. Underrated friendship.
Maybe I'm just dumb but I feel like the shards of Narsil should be left for just any rando to pick up and toy with.
The pained look on Aragorn's face as he carefully puts the hilt back on the dias 😫
Should we discuss how desperately PJ tried to shoehorn Thorin into an Aragorn mold with the parallel scenes in Rivendell where they bemoan the weakness of their ancestors and fear for their own future...or nah (Bilbo being the parallel to Arwen in the Hobbit bonus scene if you know what I'm hinting at)
Why did Elrond choose to seat the Woodland elves right next to the Ereborean delegation, that is such bad hosting etiquette
That Bilbo jump scare was equally as terrifying and unnecessary watching it 20 years later
The musical transition from Concerning Hobbits to the Fellowship theme was so flawless
Boromir bonding with the Hobbits and teaching them how to use their swords 🥲
'My cousin Balin would give up a warm welcome.' YOU KNOW WHAT IM SURE HE WPULD HAVE
Seeing Gandlaf plow a path through the snow with his staff really makes me wonder how me got it back from Saruman
I wonder who had the job of covering all the actors in snow
Never let it be said that LotR isn't funny. Gandalf struggling to open the Gates of Moria is comedy gold.
Cthulu? What are you doing here?
In love with how art deco Dwarven architecture is. Regardless of how shifty the Amazon series is, I hope we get to see Khazad Dum in its prime.
If Gollum has reflective eyes, and was a relation or ancestor to modern Hobbits, does that mean Hobbits have night vision?
Am I to assume the dwarf holding a book with a knitted jumper was Ori??? Because I did and now I'm sad.
The scene at the bridge of Khazad Dum manages to establish tension better in 3min than most Marvel movies can in am hour
My Haldir simp goggles are stuck so hard on my face i don't notice any other elves
The tear tracks cutting through thr grime on his face, his vulnerability and honesty, his empathy for those around him...that is what makes Boromir a good character. He is no lesser for being scared, especially after years of fighting to keep Mordor at bay.
Well fuckity, the Sean Bean curse strikes again
No you didn't fail, you snapped out of it in the end. 'You kept your honor' BYE IM GONNQ GO CRY IN A CIRNER NOW
Sam I know you made a promise but you are a hobbit and you cannot swimz
Frodo going I hope they find a safer road while the rest of the fellowship trot off to rescue Merry and Pippin.
They end the movie with hope and resilience. Bc Frodo may be the ring bearer, but lowkey Sam is the true hero that the everyman can relate to.
We will be back with more musings when I start Two Truffles

Archetypal Theory- Blog 2
Tumblr media
Bilbo Baggins is a classic example of the archetypal hero who goes on an archetypal journey. He possesses numerous heroic qualities; bravery, courage, strength, endurance, a clever mind, and determination. Bilbo puts these qualities into action be it by saving his friends, which happens very often; be it from the spiders, first by freeing Fili, then the others, or by busting them out of the prison of the woodland realm and escaping via barrels.
Bilbo’s journey thus far is that of the classic archetypal hero. He sets out on a journey to put right historical wrongs because of a sense of right and justice, willing to undergo this despite the dangers and costs, and unwilling to take anything but a proportionate reward for doing so. But we will have to wait and see if he makes it back home alive, and he is undoubtedly changed.
Tumblr media
“Let’s have no more argument. I have chosen Mr. Baggins and that ought to be enough for all of you. If I say he is a Burglar, a Burglar he is, or will be when the time comes. There is a lot more in him than you guess, and a deal more than he has any idea of himself. ”(Tolkien, 19), this quote expresses the how gandalf views how bilbo will be a hero even when everyone else can’t see it. Gandlaf can also be compared to the likes of Dumbledore from J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter- another wizard who plays the mentor role to thee main character, Harry Potter.
Gollum is the archetypal outcast, one who lives isolated from society and as a result having no interaction with others, along with his use of the ring and the corruption it gave him, affects his personality and appearance.
Smaug is the archetypal villain, an individual motivated by evil ends who must be defeated by the hero of the story in order to complete the archetypal quest, or task, which they have been asked to accomplish.
Symbols:
Smoke rings
Although they are beautiful, this could signify the ring of power; the gold ring that Bilbo found in the caves in the misty mountains; which symbolizes the corruption of wealth and power. The creature known as Gollum lives miserably under the mountains; though he once lived above ground in the sun, “Gollum remembered thieving from nests long ago, and sitting under the river bank teaching his grandmother...”(Tolkien, 72)
The rings of smoke could also be foreshadowing the dragon, Smaug.
The sword- Sting
The name represents Bilbo’s courage, as he names the sword after his first brave act. He felt different, much feircer and bolder after killing a giant spider.
“I shall give you a name, and I shall call you Sting.”(Tolkien, 144). With his new named sword he set off alone and eventually saved the dwarves.
Since this is a work of fiction, and Bilbo is the main character we could expect him to make it back home alive and changed. We can also expect more acts of courage and success due to his determination.

Lord Of the Rings: A summary by someone who has never read or watched the story, but has absorbed most of the plot through memes
So, back in the beginning of the world, there was this powerful sorcerer. His name was Sauramon. He made the whole world, but then became evil somehow (on accident?) and changed his name to Sauron. He lost all his humanity until he was just this disembodied floating eye that can see the whole world, but not all at once. He made this magic ring that can turn people invisible, but the ring also corrupts people’s minds to make them crave power. The ring got lost at the end of a really big battle between elves and orcs. Orcs are not like the orcs in DnD. They’re basically all bloodthirsty murderbeasts. The elves are kind of stuck up, but generally decent people.
Fast forward to the present. There are beings called hobbits who are presented as though they’re lazy and stupid, but actually seem to be the smartest people in the world. Their whole lives are just eating, partying, hanging with friends, growing plants, and lying in the sun. Really the best possible life. This wizard named Gandalf (possibly Sauramon’s secret twin brother?) kidnaps one of them and tells him he is a thief now, and also going to go kill a dragon with a group of dwarves. His name is Bilbo Baggins. He does not like this plan, and does not like Gandalf, but when he tries to escape he ends up finding aforementioned magic ring, and then realizes maybe he is pretty good at being a thief after all. So he decides to help the dwarves, and somehow they all defeat the dragon. Bilbo gets a ton of gold and retires back home to live as a super rich hobbit and party all the time. Gandalf realizes Bilbo has the ring and tells him to NEVER EVER wear it because he recognizes it as the Evil Ring that Sauramon made. Bilbo is like “K, sounds like a plan, I don’t give a crap about some ring when all I wanna do is eat potatoes and tell this wizard to fuck off forever” and then he proceeds to do just that. Eventually, he grows old and dies.
At his funeral, his nephew Frodo is given the ring in his will. Gandalf decides now is a good time to carry on with his hobby of kidnapping hobbits and forcing them into adventures they do not want to have, so he sends Frodo and his boyfriend Sam off with a human named Aragon (he was raised by elves so he’s a bit Weird), a dwarf named Gimli, and an elf named Orlando Bloom. The three of them genuinely hate each other, and also genuinely hate Frodo and Sam. Nobody wants to be on this field trip, but Gandlaf rolled a nat 20 in diplomacy, so he convinces them to all do it anyways. They are on a quest to throw the ring in a volcano, which is dangerous because Sauron wants to find the ring and use it for ???? making his army more powerful? IDK really, he’s a disembodied eye at this point, and his armies are all giant monsters. I don’t really see how invisibility could help him in his goals. Gandalf warns Frodo not to ever wear the ring, but also says how amazing and powerful it is, which to me says he either wanted Frodo to put it on or he fundamentally does not understand curiosity.
Frodo carries on the family tradition of picking up Cursed Objects and finds a magic sword that glows blue when Orcs are around. The sword glows blue. Frodo gets scared and puts the ring on, and goes invisible. Thanks to his invisibility, he is able to save his friends from the orcs. But because he wore the ring, Sauron now knows someone has it and it is sort of like a homing beacon. Every time Frodo puts it on, it tells Sauron the area the ring is in, but he can’t actually find it because Frodo is invisible. So instead, he just keeps sending a bunch of monsters to their general location hoping to get lucky. Frodo keeps putting on the ring anyways, because it sort of low-key possesses him. Everyone else seems to think this is a perfectly reasonable life choice.
At one point the hobbits get taken to Isengard, and they get very close to being killed by Not Werewolves. Galdalf sacrifices himself to save them. But then he returns as Gandalf the White, who is the same Gandalf but with no memories. The group keeps fighting monsters and getting closer to the volcano, and meanwhile Frodo gets more and more possessed until he starts to go bonkers and refuses to ever give up the ring. At this point, his boyfriend Sam has to basically drag his ass up the side of the volcano kicking and screaming. Frodo, in a moment of clarity, asks Sam to throw him into the volcano because he refuses to give up the ring, Sam instead convinces Frodo that love is more important than jewelry, and Frodo gives him the ring. Sam throws it in the volcano, and Sauron is killed. Ohhhh that’s why he wanted the ring! It was a horcrux.
Gandalf shows up with giant eagles to bring everyone home. Frodo is like “Gee, these giant eagles capable of flying across continents sure would have come in handy at any point during this months-long walk through murderous hordes of monsters.” Gandalf tells him wizards are never early or late. They arrive precisely when they mean to. Sam is having none of that. Frodo and Sam peace off back to the hobbit village to ignore adventures forevermore.

The Only One Who Ever Could-Aragorn x Reader
‘So idk why this idea came upon me hahah I'm sorry it sounds so chaotic. But what if Sauron had a daughter he didn't know of? What if she's a strider herself, immortal one, and she falls for Aragorn as she helps to destroy her father and the ring. ‘ Request by one of my absolute faves @little-diable , It’s quite long, so I apologise..I got a bit carried away but I hope you enjoy this my love!❤️
Y/ns POV
I felt like I was standing in the eye of a hurricane.Silence. that’s all that surrounded us, apart from the sound of the rain as it dreaily fell from the sky, it seemed somewhat apt considering what was about to unfold. My eyes looked out into the distance, locking on to the flickering flames of our enemies as they approached ever closer. I scanned over the faces of the men of Rohan only  to see fear and apprehension (which was entirely understandable), before my eyes landed on a young boy, no older than twelve. I couldn’t help but notice the little sparkle of hope that twinkled in his eyes. I wondered what he must’ve been thinking of, was it his parents? His siblings? His favourite memory from before the world began to darken? I had a few thoughts rushing through my brain as our enemies got even closer, the main one being Eowyns words from earlier, no matter how hard I tried I couldn’t seem to shift them from my mind. ‘You do not command the others to stay. They fight beside you because they would not be parted from you. Because they love you’, I doubt she knew how accurate her words were, nor how it sent a rush of jealousy straight to my heart. I do not know when it happened, I couldn’t pinpoint a day when I began to fall for Aragorn, it just gradually happened over the years we spent as Rangers together,  not that he knew. He was completely oblivious to how I truly felt, mainly because I’d never let him see it. Gimli and Legolas loved him like a brother, but me, I loved him in a different way all together, but I daren’t show him that. I wouldn’t risk the years of friendship we’d built. He deserved to be happy, with someone worthy of his love, maybe that was Eowyn. The other thought was a somewhat overwhelming feeling of dread, as I heard the clanking of metal and heavy footsteps draw near. We could all die here tonight. We Could die here tonight and he’d Aragorn would never know the truth, but maybe that was for the best. There was something oddly poetic about that, something that I thought could only ever be in stories, not in real life. And if we lost this battle, this world would fall back into the darkness it was in before. There would be no joy left in the world, my father would see to that but I was going to do everything in my power to make sure he didn’t crush the goodness that was still in this world.  I was dragged from my thoughts when I heard the shout of the Urukhai. This was it. Men, elves, a dunadaine, a dwarf and a maia, against at least ten thousand Urukhais. It was torture, stanidng there, listening to the Uruks growl as they taunted us with the sound of their weapons coliding with the ground or the hitting of their own armoud, again and again and again. At the sound of this, everyone on our side got their weapons ready. A sea of archers and swordsmen all awaiting the fight. Without warning an arrow was shot, hitting an Urukhai directly in the neck. As soon as its body hit the floor, there was a chorus of growls, signaling the beginning of the battle as they ran towards us. I took a deep breath, readying my daggers, before glancing over at Aragorn, my heart hammering in my chest as our eyes met and he gave me a quick and reassuring nod.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I felt my heart swell as I noticed the boy from earlier run straight into his mothers arms, a smile beaming on both of their faces. The odds had been stacked against us and if it wasn’t for Gandlaf and the Rohirim maybe our fate would’ve been different but by some miracle, we’d won. We’d won the battle. This one at least. There was an even bigger battle coming, we all knew it, but for now, I only felt relieved. My eyes landed on Aragorn as soon as he entered the room, I was going to go over and talk to him but I thought better of it when I saw Eowyn embrace him. So I limped off to a quieter part of the old fortress, where I didn’t have to pretend that seeing him with her didn’t break my heart. I was happy for him. Happy that he’d found someone in this world that could make him happy. I was foolish to think we could ever be anything more than good friends, after all being Saurons daughter wasn’t exactly helpful, not that I was anything like him, nor was I ever like him..but that type of a title is hard to shake off; That’s why I became a Ranger,  it was quite a lonely life, but I think sometimes we both preferred it that way, or we used to. The only reason we travelled together was because we both knew it was always better to have someone watching your back and neither of us wanted to become like the other members of our family. I knew the truth about him and he knew the truth about me, he accepted me, despite my  family; but I knew now that that was only as a friend, not as a lover.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I was sitting in the quieter part of the fortress, dabbing the cut on the side of my leg lightly. At first, I thought it was just a small cut, while I was fighting I’d barely even noticed it, but that must’ve been the adrenaline clouding my mind because it was quite a deep cut.
“You’re hurt,” Aragorn stated, catching me off guard entirely.
“It’s nothing, I’m fine,” I reassured, involuntarily wincing as I dabbed the cloth on the gash.
He sighed softly, shaking his head  as his hands gently grabbed the cloth from mine. “Let me.” If I had the energy maybe I would’ve argued, but I was too exhausted to even try, even if that meant allowing him to see the more vulnerable side of me I’d tried so desperately to hide over the years.  It was peculiar that his rough hands were so gentle as he cleaned and bandaged the cut, once it was done I expected him to go but he didn’t, he just stared at me like he was trying to work something out.
“What?”I asked him, my voice full of confusion as he moved slightly, so he was now sitting next to me.
“We could have died today,” he pointed out, staring off into the distance.
“But we didn’t,” I reassured him, playfully nudging him. I saw a small smile creep onto his face, but it was gone as quickly as it arrived.
“Aragorn? What’s wrong?” I asked him, wondering if this had something to do with the daunting realisation of the next battle.
“I thought you’d died,” he muttered, his voice barely above a whisper as his eyes continued to look out into the distance. “You were right behind me one second and then, I couldn’t see you anymore and I thought you’d died.” I knew exactly how he felt. When the Urukhai blew up part of the weaker part of the fortress, I thought he’d died. I tried so desperately to reach him but there were too many Urukhais surrounding me for me to get the chance.
I turned to him slightly, so I was now facing him, “But I didn’t and besides this cut, I’m perfectly-” before I got the chance to finish that sentence he crashed his lips onto mine.I didn’t know what to think, I was so confused, I thought he was with Eowyn. Before my mind got a chance to process what was happening, he pulled away, sadness filling his eyes as confusion filled my own.
“Why do you look so confused?” he asked, avoiding my gaze.
“You’re with Eowyn and you just kissed me,” his gaze met mie as soon as I said those words.
“I’m not with Eowyn,” He answered, furrowing his brows slightly. His answer made my heart begin to hammer in my chest.
“You’re not?”
“No, I think she has feelings for me, but my heart belongs to somebody else already.” I knew it was wrong to feel as much joy as I did when he said those words, but I couldn’t help the small smile that came upon my face, giving away just how I really felt.
“And who might that be? Who’s stolen the Rangers heart?” I asked coyly, my smile turning into a smirk. A chuckle escaped his lips as he pulled me closer towards him gently, minding the cut.
“The only one who ever could,” he whispered, our lips now inches apart from eachother.I swallow his words with my lips and I can feel him let out a sigh of relief against my mouth as our lips molded together in perfect synchronicity. His lips were coarse, as I’m sure mine probably were but neither of us cared in that moment. In that moment all I could think about was him and how he’d made all my dreams from the past few years turn into a reality.

Thoughts I had while watching The Fellowship of the Ring
1) I am becoming a geek. First, catching up on star wars and now this? I love it.
2) I mean making the rings itself is a dumb idea.
3) Poor Gollum.
4) Bilbo seems to be holding up well.
5) Frodo looks so innocent. I bet that's gonna get wrecked by the end of the movie.
6) I won't lie. Some sections had horror feels (the ringwreathers and gollum) and I had to watch the movie with light on.
7) I can't believe this movie was made in 2001. 19 years ago. It was legit ahead of its time- in terms of visual effects.
8) Okay the story of Nazgul made me sad- neither dead nor alive- sad sad fate- that they choose themselves but still.
9) Frodo and Sam bromance is strong.
10) Why was Gandalf stupid enough to trust Saruman. He doesn't look the stoopid type. Dammint - I miss him. If he hadn't trusted Saruman and just gone about stealthily he maybe alive (yes (- I am still emotional and refuse to think rationally)
12) Oooh yess An heir who takes a lower position in his life because he is afraid of his family's past and his to overcome his insecurities to prove to himself and the world that he is different? YAS.
13) Arwen. Liz Taylor. What a beauty.
14) Leoglas is beautiful. I mean yeah, Orlando Bloom is good looking. But as Leoglas? Beautiful. Leoglas>>>Orlando Bloom.
15) NED STARK. That was almost like a reflex. Huh- his character here belongs in the greys. Nooice.
16) Gimli is the personification of "short but angry" and that "fight me" energy- priceless.
17) I was worried Meri and Peri would be for comic relief but no they are here to create chaos and melt our hearts.
18) Cate Blanchett was in LoTR. If i had known this, i would have watched it a lot sooner. Dammint - her voice.
19) NOO BOROMIR SNAP OUT IF IT. Dammint - his death affected more than Gandlaf- but that maybe because I know Gandalf will come back alive.
20) Aww - Aaragorn resisted the ring. I hope he begins to acknowledge that he is not his father.
21) Well- boromir dead, emotional goodbyes to Bromomir and frodo, Meri and Peri kidnapped. Yaay- can't wait to watch the second one.

Smells and Sounds - Campaign Sorcery
Tumblr media
Ah, the Bog of Eternal Stench. The first time you saw Labyrinth, and you heard all the squelchy noises and heard Ludo's anguished cries of "Smells bad!" I bet you could just smell it, even if Sir Didymus couldn't. That's because of the employment of some choice sound effects combined with the fact that the olfactory sense is tied so strongly to memory. You were essentially tricked by the filmmakers into conjuring your own memories of some of the worst things you'd ever smelled, even if you weren't actually smelling them. So this month in Campaign Sorcery, we're going to talk about engaging two powerful senses in order to immerse your players in your game.
I've already talked about music, and I think music is an excellent way to conjure a mood. When Gandlaf and Eomer are about to lead the charge down to the aid of Theoden at Helm's Deep, the music swells in a heroic fanfare, and we feel excitement and pride and wish we were there swinging a sword with them. Music is a powerful tool to evoke emotions, but we've already covered that in an earlier article.
Sound effects, however, can give players some clues, while simultaneously giving them a stronger sense of immersion. You can use soundscapes to evoke a mood in place of (or in addition to) music, and/or you can use stand-alone sound effects to call attention to a detail.
If you're lucky enough to be Matt Mercer, you might be really good at making sound effects with your own voice. Otherwise, you'll need a source for them. If you're on Roll20, you'll find some very good soundscapes built in, lurking under the music section. There are other companies that offer them as well, such as Battle Bards and Syrinscapes, both of which I can say offer excellent options. But they do cost money.
If you're already investing in a streaming music service, such as Amazon Unlimited or Apple Music, you're likely to find plenty of sound effects at your disposal. If you want to play rain or thunder sounds, the sound of beach surf, a crackling campfire, or the like, you can definitely find it there. I can also strongly recommend a website called Freesound. You may have to hunt to find precisely what you want, but people upload all kinds of sound effects there. And there's plenty of good, free, fairly easy-to-use sound editing software out there, like Audacity, if you want to put them together.
I memorably once ran a Call of Cthulhu module where I hid a bluetooth speaker in a bookcase behind the players. At one moment in the module, a star vampire (an invisible creature that titters and giggles) came crashing through the window in another room to kill someone. I edited together the breaking glass, the eerie giggling with plenty of reverb, and the screams of the victim with Audcatity. When the attack happened, I triggered the sound effect to that speaker with my iPad. The players jumped and immediately had their characters go running to see what was happening.
I have also heard a time when a DM was playing a jungle soundtrack, including the distant roar of a monster. Over time, he had the mix include the roaring getting louder, and then included T-Rex stomping noises getting louder. The players were investigating a beach, and they slowly began to realize the sound effects weren't just background noise...they were a clue something was coming!
Smells are a little more challenging to do, but not impossible. You can describe smells vividly to do just what the folks who made Labyrinth did. But, if you find hygienic ways to get real smells into your game room, that works, too. I have heard of a DM whose roommate who didn't play was baking fresh bread, and he had the roommate come in with bread just as the PCs made it to a tavern. Getting to eat the bread was a bonus.
You can certainly experiment and find things with interesting smells. There are some crazy teas out there with distinct and interesting smells, and you can use them to conjure glades in the feywild or mysterious odors.
Not every smell you'll want to conjure is a food smell, of course. How can you get a dungeon smell into your home without mildew? Well, there are some crazy candle and aroma companies out there making smells for everything from Disney hotel lobbies to dungeons. No joke! You could use them to make a distinct smell in your home and conjure up a setting very effectively. Check out dungeonscents.com for one crazy candle company!
By using sounds and scents, you stimulate your players' imaginations, making the whole adventure more real and vivid for them. It will definitely make for an adventure they're unlikely to forget.

thanks!
it’s not a fully formed plot, but i have a bagginshield pride and prejudice manifesto i would love to infodump about. bilbo and thorin are LITERALLY elizabeth and darcy there’s no difference they are the same picture they are thematically identical and i will definitely die about it 😭 even their first meeting in bag end is exactly the way darcy and elizabeth met at the ball when darcy called her ugly and undateable LMAOOO. thorin is 100% the angsty unsociable socialite with noble breeding and an emotional wound and bilbo is 100% the bookish but witty guy who challenges thorin and captures his interest and his heart.
bilbo being judgmental about thorin’s crowd because he hasn’t gotten to know him/them well enough; bilbos parents trying to get him to marry someone already but bilbo being a staunch romantic bc of all the books he reads and insisting on marrying for love... the MISUNDERSTANDINGS. THE PINING
gandalf is mr. bennet through and through lmao. me and my wife were talking about this and that definitely makes saruman mrs bennet and you know what? that’s exactly their characters lmfao. read the first chapter of pride & prejudice where mr and mrs bennet squabble about entailment that’s saruman and gandalf. and the part where mrs bennet is like MARRY MR COLLINS AND MR BENNET IS LIKE IF YOU MARRY MR COLLINS IM DISOWNING U BUT WITH GANDLAF AND SARUMANANDNJFJCJ
thranduil is lady catherine. in this au thranduil would be like the kind of enemy that actually cares deep down sjsjjdjd. so he’s like yeah i hate my stupid little nephew thorin. also ur not good enough for him. thranduil is lady de bourgh with a secret soft heart and bard is his long-suffering and very loving husband who adores his girlboss husband to death. i want thranduil ans bilbo to not be enemies in this so i’m gonna channel all the catherine-elizabeth hate into thranduil and thorin’s love hate family relationship.

More thranduil love?
Bath
I am very sorry if my writing is shit, this morning my 69 yr old great nan passed away , It was horrible I have her dog zana, now. Summary: Thranduil takes a liking to you when you sass him , when he makes fun of Thorin's height.
Word count:1255
You and the company had been captured in mirkwood forest,by Prince Legolas.Gandalf had requested you join the company as you were a healer ,and it was all better to have two healers instead of one. Also due to the fact you were his adopted, elf daughter, your were parents slaughted ,when you were just a child. You did not remember them, best not that you didnt,as you have a father that loved as much as they did. Gandalf had brought you with as he did not wish to leave you at home alone when someone could kidnap you because gandalf was your father.  Especially when he too protect you from harm when you beside him.
Which led you too now ,in front of you and Thorin stood the elven,Thranduil. Thorin did like you ,even though you were an elf ,as you had not grown up with the elven traditions, gracefulness, you were clumsy ,and you didnt have a stick up your butt. You were taught your fighting skills from Elrond ,when Gandalf left you with him,so he could complete dangerous tasks.  You had befriended Elrond's daughter,Arwen, you would write to her often ,she was your only friend until you met the company.
Sometimes Gandlaf would take you to lady Galadriel and Celeborn,of Golden wood. The had gifted a leaf brooch, which later you had modified into a necklace that lay between your breasts, that only showed if your tunic was removed or it fell forward.
Thranduils soldiers had stripped you down to your vest ,and baggy trousers, you werent happy with that but you couldnt do anything about it. Whereas the dwarves where only stripped down to there tunics, damn why couldnt they be topless. You would have more than liked that. At this very moment Thranduil was insulting Thorin offering him a deal, for his and the companys freedom.
He made your blood boil to the point of over flowing,he was a selfish ,slug eyebrow king you had enough of it. Your fists clenched closed ,knuckles white. "you call yourself a king?you are a selfish man ,if you and your people were in need .The dwarves wouldve gave you a home ,yet you let children die and starve because you didnt want to mess your hair. You disgust me." you had spat your words at him as he turnt you glaring ,Thorin couldnt help but smirk. Thranduil had scoffed before speaking "and what would a poor excuse of an elf that mucks around miniture sized pigs know of the matter?" Thorin growled at the smirking king. "this is no mere elf as she is Gandalfs daughter, she could most definitely turn you into slug like them eyebrows." you giggled at Thorin, his eyebrows definitely looked like slugs,Thorin sent you cheeky smile,
"yeah ,also I am fed up with the short jokes. Im sorry but I rather have a nice thick dwarven cock, compared to yourtiny  thin worm one." Thorin's face was more than red now you had simply smirked,Thranduils face twisted in anger. "take him to the cells, and leave the girl and I alone, now." he had shouted commands,Thorin shorted compliants "you do not touch her!" and others in khuzduls, you had sent him a small smile. "Wait may i say one last thing to him before?" Thranduil annoyed told you yes but you would only have 15 seconds. So you had whispered to the dwarven king. "when dildo gets you all ,dont wait for me,leave,I will catch up.""no y/n n-" he was cut off by Thranduils command and him being dragged off harshly.
He had circled you mulitple times before stopping close in front of you,his eyes dropping to your cleavage, where your necklace laid. You tried to stay still,as his followed down the chain of your necklace to the leaf. Which caused him to touch your breasts still by doing so,sending harsh chills down your spine. His thumb rubbed over the pendent ,taking in the details it held. "where did you get this?" he had questioned sternly, his face still glued to the necklace.
"Lady Galadriel." you had answered avoiding his face,"and how were you able to get so close to her as low elf." you had pulled the necklace from his hand scoffing."Thorin told you ,Gandalf is my father." Thranduil hadnt believed this as you were a elf and he was a wizard. "how is he?you are an elf he isnt" he hated liars he didnt believe a word you said, especially the dick thing. "god he is my adopted father, you bloody bugger ,my parents were killed when I was a babe." you had spat annoyed,he sent you neutral facial expression. "sorry." he had simply spoken he did truly feel bad for bringing it up.
"so you pledge yourself to Thorin." He had questioned pulling up the strap of your vest, before offering you his arm which you have to take,as he lead you away from his throne,to an unknown destination. "no ,I am not.I just have seen them all naked." you had mulitple times as you had to bath together. "how?" he was weirded out ,but he would be surpised if the dwarves walked around with their dongs out. "well on our trip we all had bath together in the wake, plus in rivendell they bathed in the fountain. Its pretty hard to miss." he gasped ,tighting his grip on your arm. "have they seen you...naked?" he was quite disturbed he couldnt bare for a women to bath with over a dozen of men.
"actually no,not until your guards stripped me from my over clothes ,my vest got caught with my tunic boom they all saw,Thorin had quickly helped me cover, When we all bathed together they would turn away from me ,they treat women like the most precious gem in creation." you had spoke as you both walked up the stairs ,Thranduil had gasped at your story."oh,I am so sorry that happened." he was actually quite sincere with his words. "wow Thorin would be impressed you do have a heart, but anyways it is okay it told me that my breasts are some what attractive." you had joked ,as Thranduil looked confused "hard dicks" you stated causing him to hum in response. opened a door ,leading you in ,t here was a  bed."oohhhhhhhhhhh,i see." you had smirked,as his face lit up red slightly. "oh uh no i just thought you would like a bath,by yourself?" you smiled excitedly, nodding running to the bathroom,to see a hot bath all ready, ready.
"was this bath meant for someone else before i came?you had turned to the door shouting slightly,as Thranduil entered slowly. "yes, but it is for you now." you had frowned at the elf. "who?" you had questioned quietly, tripping slightly on yout own feet."me" he had whsipered. "Well.why dont we share then?" you tugged at Thranduils dress thingy, you didnt know what the fuck that was called.

Hold my hand and with it my heart
Chapter 3                                      Unexpected guest
Gandalf was in the house of healing watching over the sick and teaching the healers some of the treatments he’d seen throughout his travels. Loreth the wise old woman of Gondor was reciprocating by showing some of the more Rudimentary things that a wizard usually doesn’t have time to learn. At the moment she was showing him how to properly clean a wound to prevent infection. The wound was a deep cut on the leg of a young man that was brought in earlier that morning. Just then they heard a knock on the door.
“ I wonder who that could be? Maybe another person that got into a fight over their “one true love”. Why don't you tend to them? I have to get some more kingsfoil.” Loreth said, walking away before Gandalf could agree.
He got up and walked over to the wooden door with a small smile on his face. The wizard had a soft spot for the lady. He opened the door expecting to see his 24th case of the day. (surprising for a time of peace)
“Ah, Gimli! What can a humble healer like myself do for you? You haven't been in a fight now have you?”
“No nothing like that,” Gimli walked in and pulled up a chair next to Gandalf. He waited until Loreth was away in the herb closest to speak. He didn't want to worry the old woman ”Gandalf, do you know anything about an illness or curse spreading around? I spoke with Legolas and he had a fit saying the strangest things! Even the people at the pub were acting peculiar.”
“Are you certain? What did Legolas say?”Gandalf looked at Gimli with an arched brow.
“That he loved me!” At this Gandalf had a small smirk “When I asked if he was alright he had a complete breakdown, shaking and crying it was absurd! Now, don't you see why I’m so worried?” Gimli was looking very distressed and was pulling at his beard. At this Gandlaf’s smirk slowly turned into a concerned frown.
“Hmm yes well that doesn't sound like Legolas…. Are you certain he wasn't inebriated? I know elves have some resistance to alcohol but they're not immune.”
“What? Of course, he wasn't drunk! Why would he confess to me if that were the case?” Gimli's face went as red as his beard.
“Well, you too are very close,” Gandalf smiled at Gimli with a knowing look ” I must have been mistaking my apologies.”
“Were just good friends, don't be abused! I don't know what could possibly lead you to that conclusion! He is an elf and I am a dwarf that would be a crime against our very people. You're lucky he isn't here or else you would have another patient! Has everyone in this city gone mad?!” Gimli's face was reaching peak redness.
“I haven't seen anything too out of the ordinary…” Just as Gandalf was speaking the young man he was just treating jumped out of bed onto his wounded leg.
“ Venrisa! Please listen to me! We are in love! I don't care what your husband says!” The young man made a fast dash for the door but before he could Loreth comes running out of the herb closet tackling the wounded man.
“Don't just stand there! Help me tie him down!”
Gandalf and Gimli helped the old women maneuver the man to the bed tying his limbs down to the wooden frame.
“ I don't know what's gotten into him! In fact, most of the people I’ve treated recently have been estranged screaming of love... Do you know anything about this Gandalf? You seem to know about these strange occurrences.”
“Well ma'am that's just what i'm here to find out. A good friend of mine went crazy Just like this poor bloke.”
“How peculiar… hmm I might suggest you go find lady Galadriel for she was speaking of something to do with love...perhaps I should have listened but when it comes to love most of us immortals grow out of its entrancements.” Gandalf had a lost look on his face trying to remember what the lady was speaking of.
“Alas! I should have gone with my dwarven gut!” Gimli was already out the door before Gandalf had finished his thought. Of course, the lady would know of the strange love illness spreading! For nobody else in all of middle earth is as lovely.
