I could probs start selfshipping w L.oki again and it would be totally new and exciting for me cause of how much older, self assured and wiser(ish) I am entering my late 20s vs. me at my peak (probably 15-21, it was a...formative era. i was here in 2011/2012 I remember it all too well. eyewitness reports.)

I don't plan to ever blog about it on the same level as C.able or anything cause in many ways it's a very hypothetical exercise for funsies returning to older interests/f/os teenage nostalgia thing for me HAHA like oh wouldnt it be funny if we reunited unexpectedly after a long time? What would we do? How would we react to each other? How would we navigate a post romantic sexual bond? in many ways i do not get this drama with my other f/os so maybe I just have a craving for it now and then. emotional upheaval and confusion and it's complicated

Are there rules to self shipping? For example, do they have to be completely fictional? If I self shipped with a fictionalized version of a real person, would that be okay?

For starters, thank you so much! I love my little ship, and my little Zach, and my little Violet so much, and I am so happy others enjoy their silly, sweet, and sappy little antics too!

Sooooo to address this question, I want to preface all of this by saying your questions are completely valid, and I relate so much! I am by no means an expert in the field of selfshipping. To be 100% honest, I didn't really understand what selfship, fictional other, self insert, or any of the associated terms meant until late last year. So, I am still fairly new to the selfshipping community myself!

As for "rules" within the selfship community, I think this will depend on the individual. There are many different stances within the community about what is right and what is wrong. The key is to understand what your boundaries are and to understand the boundaries of others.

Most selfshippers have BYF (before you follow) or DNI (do not interact) listed in their pinned posts or banners, a good rule of thumb would be to read such materials and determine for yourself whether or not you fall into the category a selfshipper may not be comfortable with.

For example, some individuals are not comfortable with villain selfshippers following or interacting with them. Okay, welp, here I sits with my bad boy, Zachy, what shall I do? Well, while that places me into a category where I cannot interact with that person, that is okay! That is their boundary so I respect it (BTW: if I have accidentally interacted with someone who does not approve of villain selfships, I apologize, I'm still learning!).

As for a fictionalized version of a real person, I am also here too, in a way...I kind of have something of a poly selfship in the works with two characters from the movie Apollo 13, but I see this as fictionalized versions of the real people. The real people are either deceased or very old, and while I respect them and their historical accomplishments, I am not interested in them in any romantic or platonic way. Rather, I am enamored by their fictive versions portrayed by actors within the bounds of a cinematic universe.

So, I also think this is more of an individual preference. Some people may not be comfortable with this type of ship, but some others may love and support it just as much as you do! When presenting such a selfship, you will have to make your stance clear and understand/respect the stance of others who may oppose such a ship.

uh. hi! i got an ask on my main, saying my last post on this blog made it look like i died in 2022 from covid... so uhhhhhh just here to say that didn't?? happen??

1. i DID get 100% certified long covid on top of my chronic issues, which have ALSO been getting worse, so i have to be wise about how i choose to use my energy.

2. i never found a Totally Definitely Legal copy of PS i felt i could trust + my old laptop all but exploded (unrelated issue; it was just old and shitty). i don't want to risk fucking up my new one in any way so i need to be EXTRA sure it's trustworthy.

3. i haven't been watching enough anime to justify the PS search LMAO ;;; that isn't to say i haven't watched ANYTHING since my sudden hiatus, but it hasn't been much. plus, tbch, internet speeds where i live are doodoo shit, so downloading high quality anime rips has been a pain in the ass since i moved home several years ago ;;;

4. i've just been focusing on other things! again, limited energy. i've been putting a lot of effort into drawing more and into breaking out of my social isolation bubble in stream chats and on my selfship sideblog. it's been doing wonders for my mental health, so that's what i want to spend my time doing!

tl;dr gif-making just isn't something i'm interested in right now! i've considered it, and i miss it to some extent...? but between the energy issues, the effort to find a safe copy of PS, and enjoying talking to other people more than churning out endless gifs, i just don't see the point lol. if i come back, i come back, and if i don't, thanks for sticking around. 👋🏻

i stand with palestine & am infuriated about the genocide israel is committing. i won’t be posting much if at all about current events in gaza or the west bank here going onward just bc i have already been doing a lot of that on my main @c0rpseductor and on twitter, but i feel like the statement is important to make here too, especially bc i know a lot of other selfshippers do use their selfship blogs to speak on current events as well. i don’t want to use this blog for that purpose but do want to still direct my followers here to pay attention to the ongoing events.

given a lot of US news outlets are very biased it’s good to be skeptical of what you see from US sources and also try to pay attention to reports from gazans themselves, esp bc from what i understand the communications blackout is finally beginning to lift. al jazeera also has a lot of up to date coverage on twitter

hahahaha, no offense taken!! but i must ask - are you new around here? 🙈🙈 i do an f/o/crushes/obsessions roundup at the start of every year - we're averaging around 30 per annum 😂 the real answer is ...why not? time to get a little personal under the cut - sorry it's so long!! but i wanted to give a proper answer 💖

i was your typical autistic kid with a lot of weird-ass obsessions and crushes, but i was slowly shamed out of those interests despite how happy they made me. my teens were a really difficult time, and i began believing my fandom-related interests were 'weird' or 'childish', so i shoved them waaaay down, and tried to be 'normal'. turns out, that stuff is not good for you! 💔 it wasn't until the 2020 lockdowns that i saw things differently. it'll seem crazy to my pals and followers now, but i never used to post the way i do today!! i'd stopped making fanvids and writing fanfic, and i was too ashamed to explore my love for drawing and hadn't ever picked up a tablet pen. i'd spent so long trying to survive i didn't really know how to just exist and do things i like - much less with stuff i thought was shameful. 2020 made me realise i didn't want to spend my limited time here denying myself joy... ...so i embraced cringe culture being dead, and threw myself into the Baldi's Basics in Education and Learning fandom 🙈 reawakening my love for horror, silly video games and the bountiful creativity of fandom (plus my crush on ridiculous characters) and making it a safe, comfortable, normal thing to do was imperative to my healing. it might seem silly, but openly thirsting about a green polygonal noodle who spanks you to death allowed me to laugh at myself, be open about my interests, and stop attaching such terrible, negative thoughts to my existence!! 😂 people who should've taken care of me hurt me a lot when i was younger. obsessing over fictional characters who tickle my brain just right - whether in a selfshipping capacity, making art, collecting info about them, etc. helps heal that hurt inner child. after so many years of denying myself fun or joy, i realised there aren't really any rules!! if i see a cool character, show, game, etc. and it piques my interest, why shouldn't i follow that spark of passion and see if it blooms? 🥰 i love seeing people gush about fictional characters because i know they're having a great time, and many are healing themselves 💖 so yeah, that's the answer!! fandom rules are fake, crushing on fictional characters is fun, and it's like a neverending chain of serotonin to gush, and for your pals to gush, and to suggest silly characters to one another and make their day a little better 🙏💖 i hope to continue making my blog a fun and joyful space for that kind of energy, and i don't intend on stopping posting about my love for weird characters anytime soon 🙈💖
