Authors Notes: ok so I wrote this ages ago and never uploaded it because of... who knows actually. I reread it yesterday and was like wait a sec THIS IS GOOD. so yeah here it is! I had a loooot of feelings after Season 2 lol. "Betaread" only by myself (like 20 times) as per usual I will not take responsibility for tense- errors.

"How?" My voice is nothing more than a low snarl.

Omega flinches at the noise, her cheeks still tearstained.

Instinctively she curls into Wreckers side, who is sitting right next to her and he wraps his big arm protectively around his little sister.

I didn't want to scare Omega, never. I loved that girl like she was my own but in this moment I saw blood red.

No Tech.

"He fell…" was the only thing that left Hunter's lips when they returned to Cid's after Eridau.

All of them battered and bruised, eyes red from the tears shed and empty, only pain left in them.

Echo put his hand on my shoulder, lingering for a moment, squeezing it gently to convey our shared pain.

None of them dared look me in the eyes as they walked past me, headed to the back of Cid's parlor.

Hunter, wrecker, Echo… Omega following slowly, tears still streaming down her flushed cheeks.

"How?" I repeated my question directed at the others.

The knot in my stomach tightened, choking me, nausea creeping up my chest.

For a moment that seemed endless I just stood there. My fists clenched at the sides of my trembling body.

I had given them an hour after they arrived but I couldn't wait for answers anymore.

The anger and sadness sitting in my chest so thickly that I couldn't breathe.

"Everything went wrong when we ran into Saw Gerrera and his rebels.", Hunter finally sighed.

"They had planted bombs all over the compound… Tech…" he swallowed hard at the name of his lost brother.

"He… we tried to convince them that it was stupid to blow up the summit. It would accomplish nothing! But he didn't listen."

Hunter gritted his teeth, almost hissing his spite filled words.

"The explosion caused the rail line to short-circuit and…." Echo chimed in, his voice trailing off immediately, not wanting to say it out loud.

Omega's silent sobs grew louder as she gripped onto Wrecker tightly, his thumb drawing circles on her back to try and calm her despite the big Clone being on the verge of tears himself. Omega always came first.

"He will pay for this." I slammed my hand on the table so hard it should hurt but I couldn't feel anything besides the anger boiling over inside me.

I needed the anger. I had to lean into it otherwise I would be left with the pain… and I couldn't take that. I wasn't ready to feel that yet.

So I gave into the raging hate and stormed out of Cid's towards the Marauder.

With every molecule inside my body I focused on him.

Saw Gerrera.

"Show me where that bastard is hiding." I hissed through clenched teeth, digging deep into my connection with the force.

Usually I let it guide me like a gentle breeze, a lover's hand gingerly holding mine, leading the way.

But not now.

This Time I seized it, grabbing hold of the elusive feeling, molding it to my will.

I could feel the burning of the dark side creeping into my heart but I didn't care.

I didn't care about anything anymore.

My Tech was gone.

He was gone and I knew whose fault that was.

That extremist Bastard would pay for taking my Tech from me.

Images flashed before my closed eyes.

A planet.

A city.

A building.

Gererra.

"Gotcha!"

I powered up the ship and without looking back I took off into the dark void of space, sight blood red.

I never saw my squad exiting Cid's, looking for me, never heard Echo quietly steadying Hunter, who was immediately making plans on how they could track and find me.

"Maybe it's best we give them some space right now, Sarge."

Never saw the hurt in Omega's eyes, wondering if I'd left them for good.

Oblivious to the worries of my squad, I had only one incentive on my mind.

Finding and killing Saw gerrera.

Letting the force guide my way, I activated the hyperdrive and jumped to lightspeed.

My Robe billowed in the wind when I ripped the metal door out of its hinges.

My face an ugly grimace of fury and madness, my double blade saber lit in my hands.

"Where is Gerrera?" I growl, dragging one of the guards towards me at his neck.

Choking on his own breath he couldn't even answer me if he wanted to. But that didn't matter to me, I simply invaded his mind and took the answers I wanted.

Hurling him into the wall, I made my way into the building. The second guard followed his buddy into the wall with a snap of my wrist.

There weren't many people in this outpost and the three rebels I encountered on my way I flung across the hallway so hard they lost consciousness.

I didn't want to kill anyone…

Except gerrera. He would definitely die today.

Slowly and painfully.

There he was now. Sitting behind a big desk, looking up at the armed and cloaked intruder in confusion.

I was going to make him suffer, make him feel every ounce of pain he caused me.

I stuck out my free hand, locking onto Gerrera's throat with a force grip, raising him slowly out of his chair and slamming him into the wall behind his desk.

The confusion on his face shifted into fear in a split second.

My lightsaber pointed towards the man, I took slow steps around the desk in his direction.

He tried to speak, probably wanting to ask who I was, what I wanted.

But I was crushing his respiratory tract, so no words came across his lips.

The darkness was clinging onto my heart, seeping deeper into my mind, nipping at my sanity as I stood face to face with my victim.

"You took everything from me." I whispered.

It was not a quiet, shy whisper. My voice cut through the silence like a freshly sharpened knife.

I wasn't finished with him.

"And for what?" I spat the word in his face.

He was clutching his neck, desperately trying to catch his breath.

I could see his face slowly turning blue and relished in his anguish, but I wasn't going to let him die yet.

With a thump he fell to the floor as I released my grip on him. Frantically gasping for air, Saw looked up to me, trying to regain just a smidge of power over the situation.

Placing one of my boots on his chest I bend down to his eye level, crushing any hopes of him reclaiming control.

"Every last one of them survived. You didn't even accomplish anything with your fucked up little plan!

You're a fucking failure!"

I turned my back on him, allowing the panicked man to garner some composure but my focus never left him. I could feel every tiny shift of his presence in the force. He wouldn't be able to escape or overwhelm me, even with my back to him.

I pressed my Foot down onto his Chest, digging my heel into his stomach.

With a quick jerk of my leg I kicked him in the teeth, causing him to spit blood and a chipped tooth.

With a low buzz I turn off my lightsaber, sheathing the handle on my belt.

I wasn't going to need this just now.

I wanted to feel his bones crack in my own hands, the warmth of his blood on my skin.

"I am your end."

Behind me Saw finally manages to force out some pressed words:

"Who the fuck are you?"

If I could've seen myself right now I would not have recognised me. My eyes were bloodshot, a faint yellow circle forming around my usually dark purple iris, my face a caricature written in wrath and fury.

Saw spat out another mouthful of blood and scoffed.

"It wasn't my fault the plan went south! If those stupid clones…."

His words got stuck in his throat as I whipped around putting my half lit lightsaber to his chest, the brimming blade almost singeing the fabric of his shirt.

Panicked, he snapped his head back at the sudden threat.

"Don't you dare!" I snarled.

"Don't you dare put this on them!"

Moving just a little bit closer with my saber I leave a simmering mark on his chest.

His face warped with pain, Gerrera sharply breathed in through gritted teeth.

Pulling the blade back I take a swing with my free hand, my fist colliding with his jaw with a satisfying crack. I grab his jaw hard, digging my nails into his cheeks.

The fear growing in his eyes as I forced him to meet my own crazed stare painted a cold smile onto my lips.

Slowly I dragged his body up the wall by his chin until we were eye to eye again.

"How does it feel, knowing you will die?"

"How does it feel knowing you failed, Saw?" My voice was icy and calculated.

Before he could even attempt to answer, my knee shot up into his unprotected crotch, a pained groan leaving his gaping mouth.

With a low growl I hurled him across the room. As he crashed into the opposite wall I lept after him, grabbing the collar of his shirt to prop him up against the wall. I started throwing my fists at him frantically, landing blow after blow, blood sputtering out of his Mouth. A tingling in my stomach grew into a deranged laugh as I kept hitting every inch of his face and torso, watching him slowly lose consciousness.

"Cyare"

I grabbed a fist full of his dreadlocks, slamming his bloodstained head into the wall.

"Cyare what are you doing?"

"Tech"

The soft voice in my head forces me to pause, Saw's mangled body collapsing onto the floor as soon as I loosened my grip on his hair.

It feels as if a thick red fog was lifted from my mind and for a moment I could see clearly again.

"What are you doing?" He asked again, his voice saturated with worry.

Weak Visions of my beloved Clone passing before my eyes, I stumbled back falling against the desk in the middle of the small room.

No, you're gone.

Hazily I looked down at my shaking hands. My vision was slightly blurred but I could see the blood on them clearly enough.

How could I hear him?

He couldn't be a force ghost, Tech wasn't force sensitive.

Clutching my Hair with my hands I could slowly feel my sanity slipping.

I was losing my mind and I hallucinated his voice in the process.

"I told you I was your end."

The quiet rustling of Gerrera's body shifting in the corner of the room pulls me back and the red fog crept back into my mind, the dark side pulling my strings as I light my saber, slowly stepping over to him.

I position myself above him, looking down on his swollen and bruised face.

Enough play.

I scoffed imperiously at his desperate and useless attempt to shield himself by weakly lifting his arms up.

My blade had already pierced his chest, forcing a choked gasp from his busted lips.

Staring down into his face I watched the light slowly leave his eyes, his gaze trailing off from where we had stared at each other.

As Saw Gererra, famous Rebel Leader, took his last breath, the darkness seized my heart entirely. It dug its roots deep into my soul, polluting every last inch of my body.

"Are you there?"

I deactivated my lightsaber, resheathing it onto my belt again.

Taking a step back my gaze lingered on the dead body.

Staring at the mangled form of the Man that stole my love from me I tried to figure out what feeling was twisting my stomach.

It wasn't relief but neither was it regret.

It felt as if someone wrapped my intestines all around my other organs and twisted a knot around it.

But for some elusive reason it felt… almost empowering?

In a sick, perverted way.

I wasn't consumed by my rage anymore, instead I felt dangerously calm.

We.

I stood in front of the Marauder, staring up the ramp. Seeing the ship stirred something deep down, trying to break through the thick layer of darkness that had engulfed my heart.

It was the closest thing we had to a home.

"They took Omega. Hemlock has Omega. Please come back…. We need you."

I had almost forgotten about my squad.

How could I have forgotten them so quickly?

Furrowing my brows I tried to find the love I knew I had for all of them inside me.

There was nothing, nothing but festering darkness.

In my mind I knew it though. I knew I loved them, but I couldn't feel it anymore.

Not like before.

It wasn't a warm, safe feeling anymore, instead it filled me with a devouring fear.

Fear of losing any more of my loved ones.

"General… please."

Hunter's raspy voice emitted from my half forgotten vambrace for a second time and I dragged my eyes down to my wrist, staring at it not really able to grasp what was happening.

First Crosshair, then…

Tech…

I choked, but no tears built up in my eyes.

There was no sadness, only blistering rage.

And now Omega, too?

The forlorn tone of my sargents voice finally pulled me back into reality.

"I'm here."

My voice was shaking, still a few octaves deeper than it usually was, laced with an almost sinister tone.

"Please repeat."

Cid did what?

"Oh, it's so good to hear your voice!" Hunter sighed relieved on the other end of the comm.

"Hemlock took Omega, Cid sold us out… we need you on Ord mantell, now!"

A familiar burning hot rage started bubbling in my throat once again.

What's one more murder.

Or two.

A grin that could only be described as evil flashed over my face as I imagined gutting that treacherous lizard Bitch.

And when I'm done with her I will find Hemlock.

I will find him, rip his lungs out and feed him his own eyes.

"I'm on my way."

I would get Crosshair and Omega back and I'd kill anyone who dared stand in my way.

I would never let anything happen to my family again.

ITSAY was beautifully shot but boring.

PP gives me the ick and I don’t know why.

Between Us and Cutie Pie 2 could have been an email. There was no reason for the spin off and the second season. The acting and storylines went downhill not that CP really had much of a storyline in the first place.

I don’t know if it’s the directors fault but Sammy almost always overacts.

When actors and actresses say they’ve never had a boyfriend/girlfriend or been in a relationship, ALMOST all of them are lying but not all. Fans will argue until they’re blue in the face that their fave is different and no one has claimed to be the ex of their fave so the actor is telling the truth about being forever single. That’s because the NDA was signed, sealed and delivered every night, babe. They are getting their back blown out and laying pipe like no one’s business but fans are making their lives difficult by wanting them to be cute little innocent virgins when they are grown. They all are probably fucking on each other too. The fans are 100% at fault for that fact that actors can’t have open relationships or live somewhat normal lives but none of us are willing to accept any blame. The unpopular part though: I want my favorite actors and actresses to be in relationships IF they want to be. I would like them to be happy since they make me happy. I think it’s selfish of fans to think otherwise. Let actors fuck 2k23 (I know this doesn’t apply for every actor or actress. Some are telling the truth, some are asexual, some are sex repulsed, some are religious, some have trauma, sexism and double standards when it comes the actresses definitely plays a part, etc. but fans need to realize actors and actresses are people too and they’re fucking beautiful and young and having fun)

itsay was beautifully shot but boring FOR YOU, who I'm assuming is more plot-focused than character-focused, and that's okay. but for girlies like me who LOVE shows that focus on every single detail of a character's development, it's the most interesting show in existence 😌 don't make generalizations of your own personal feelings 😘

completely agree for cutie pie, didn't even watch between us bc I wasn't about to watch a sequel of a show I didn't even like 3 years later lol, even though I liked teamwin it deffo came way too late imo

sammy overacts bc her roles want that. it wasn't the case in 7 project for example, though the fact that she's barely been given serious roles keeps her from developing her acting further & makes overacting her specialty

Another one for you! What are your five "go to" GG episodes you find the most rewatchable? They Shoot Gilmores and The Lorelais' First Day at Yale are definitely both on my list, but I'm still trying to pick just three more from the zillion other episodes I love :)

Thank you for this. I really appreciate it💕 Right off the bat I’m going to apologies for how long this is. I couldn’t keep it to just five episodes and I had a need to explain why these are my most rewatchable episodes.

1) Forgiveness and Stuff (1x10) I’m such a sucker for Luke being there for his girls. The way he gives Taylor, the guy he’s thrown a frying pan at because he’s annoying and he hates him, the keys to his establishment just shows how much he cares and knew Lorelai needed him. It makes me happy. Plus it’s where we get the classic blue hat. Lorelai saying Luke always looks good and Luke saying “I can’t imagine anyone seeing you as a disappointment.” Such cute moments in this episode.

2) Dead Uncles & Vegetables (2x17) Just as I love Luke being there for his girls, I equally love when Lorelai and Rory are there for him. Luke and Lorelai are a cute married couple in this episode (and pretty much all episodes really) and you can’t convince me otherwise. Also, don’t we all just love the way Rory makes Jess help out. It’s so funny seeing him just let her and we all know he’s loving it.

3) A Deep-Fried Korean Thanksgiving (3x09) If you don’t join in when everyone is chanting ‘Jackson,’ then you haven’t been watching this episode right. I love getting to watch the girls go through their Thanksgiving traditions, especially Lorelai and Luke’s. The Lane and Dave moments are cute! The girls eating with Luke and Jess is adorable and they all look like a cute happy family. I adore the fact that Lorelai takes food from Luke’s plate. I’m telling you these people have been married since day one. Plus it’s Jess and Rory’s first Thanksgiving together as a couple and ain’t that cute! I love drunk Sookie! She’s funny and I can’t help but say her lines with her.

4) A Tale of Poes and Fire (3x17) It’s super fun seeing Michel interacting with Miss Patty and Babette. Lorelai screaming ‘Stella’ for Luke to come to the window is always fun to watch. But the best part is Lorelai telling Luke about her dream and how they smile while discussing it. Lorelai not being about to tell Luke that they kissed in her dream because it hits too close to home brings out the feels. Oh and Rory’s going to Yale!

5) The Fundamental Things Apply (4x05) Luke and Lorelai’s first movie night. I love how Lorelai teases Luke about not having watched many movies and not knowing what the FBI warning is. It’s so fun to watch. I love how comfortable they both look while they sit and watch Casablanca. Luke helping Rory out with her awkward date is cute, and a little Dad moment which fuels my ‘Luke has always been a father figure to Rory’ feels. The best moment is when Luke is sleeping on their couch and Rory says, ‘He looks comfy there, doesn’t he?’ and Lorelai looks like she doesn’t want to think about how comfy Luke looks because she doesn’t want to admit how much she likes seeing him there. And I’m definitely reading way too into that look but it makes me happy so it counts.

6) The Incredible Sinking Lorelais (4x14) The proud and happy smile on Lorelai’s face when she’s looking at the gum wrapper with the Dragonfly’s first reservation makes it worth watching this episode. She’s adorable and I’m so proud of her. Lorelai wearing her Bon Jovi hat and Luke commenting on it is fun. The best part about this episode has to be, as Lorelai puts it ‘the meltdown in the park’ moment. Lauren Graham is so good at emotional scenes (and pretty much everything this woman does) that it always hits me when Lorelai is breaking down. Of course I love the fact Luke instantly knows something is wrong when he sees her and he’s there to comfort and support her.

7) Let Me Hear Your Balalaikas Ringing Out (6x8) Lorelai jonesing for her colours is super fun and cute. Colin and Finn are funny when they’re drunk. ‘I’ve forgotten how to get into a car,’ always cracks me up. Then he appears. The man of the hour. Yes, Jess Mariano. It’s nice to have Jess back for this episode. I alway forget how much I love his interactions with Rory until I watch them again. I’m super proud of all he’s done and seeing him come back, showing his book to Rory and telling her that he couldn’t have done it without her is such a beautiful moment. Probable one of my favorite between the two. And of course seeing Jess questioning Rory and being able to wake her up and make her realise that she’s not acting like herself is the best. All that said, the part which I just love is when Paul Anka gets sick and Lorelai is in Rory’s room watching him sleep. Once again Lauren is just incredible and makes my heart hurt at hearing Lorelai say she's a bad mother. Luke being there to comfort her is an added bonus, especially the way he touches her hair to comfort her.

8) Santa’s Secret Stuff (7x11) I know what you’re thinking, how is a season 7 episode where Lorelai and Chris are still together on my most rewatchable list? Well let me tell you why. I love getting to hear about Lorelai and Rory’s Christmas traditions, such as how they put green and red M&M’s in their cereals on Christmas day (which I did last year and let me tell you it be yummy) and getting to see the girls go through those traditions is nice. Gigi isn’t my favorite character (honestly have no opinion on the kid) but she’s adorable when she copies Lorelai as she says ‘The redcoats are coming.’ The fact Lorelai doesn’t think twice about helping Luke with the character reference warms my heart to no end and is just super cute. Talking about cute, Luke and April! These cuties! Always love any Papa Luke moment. Luke being a Dad is so cute to watch and I love April (just hate what the writers did with her storyline in season 6 but that’s a rant for another day). Love that she’s 60% atheist and 40% agnostic. This girl is so quirky and I’m so here for it. What makes this episode one of my most rewatchable episodes is that scene between the girls and Luke and April when they’re all out shopping. This scene is amazing because it shows how much Luke cares for Rory. He’s always cared about her and throughout the years has always given her gifts for her birthday and holidays and maybe they weren’t the best gifts, but the love is what counts especially since Luke finds going out to buy presents such a daunting task. It just makes me happy seeing how much Rory means to him. What makes me love this scene is the smile and just the look on Lorelai’s face. If that look doesn’t show how much she loves and admires Luke then I clearly need new glass. (side note: I actually do need new glasses but that’s besides the point lol)

9) I’d Rather Be In Philadelphia (7x13) This episode just really shows how great Luke is. The fact the moment he finds out about Richard being at the hospital he just had to go and see if everyone is okay, to see if Lorelai is okay is next level cute and just reminds me why Luke is always going to be the better man. Yes, he has issues and has dealt with somethings in ways that I just want to punch him so hard his hat starts spinning like Daffy Duck's beak, but he’s always there for his girls even when he’s not with Lorelai which just further shows how much he cares and is generally such a great guy. I love that Luke let’s Emily give him chores to do and that it kinda feels like he’s part of the family because he’s helping out, but then I remember he’s not and that hurts. I love that he comes back with food and a fish bag. He’s a cutie. Love that Lorelai is happy to see him. Logan is there for Rory which is nice to see. It’s interesting to see how everyone deals with Richard being in the hospital this time around compared to in Season 1, mostly Emily. All her moments especially when she has a little breakdown in front of Lorelai, and then her talk with Richard hurts to watch but in a really good way.

10) It’s Just Like Riding a Bike (7x19) Lorelai’s dress at the start of this episode is the only reason I rewatch this episode endlessly. Ah well that and some other things too, I guess but mostly the dress. When Lorelai calls Sookie, that whole scene I personally feel like it presents a parent having to deal with sick children so well. Sookie’s place being a mess, her sniffing what I’m hoping is milk from the kid’s bottle and using it for her coffee, and also picking a lollipop from the tablecloth is really how life looks like for a parent just in general, let alone when their kids are sick. So it’s refreshing seeing this being presented in a realistic way. Luke and Lorelai car shopping is awkward but I love every moment of it, especially when Luke starts ranting and then they starts bickering. The smile on Lorelai’s face. Lord take the wheel because my heart can’t deal with the cuteness. The smile screams ‘I have him back’ to me and I love how happy she is about that. Luke doing everything in his power to make Lorelai be able to have her old car is just sweet, and have I forgotten to mention that this guy is just the best? I love it.

Okay, I’m finally done and the fact you’ve gotten to the end of this is amazing. It was hard to narrow it down to just these because there are a lot of episodes I love and rewatch often, like a bunch from season 4 and 5 but these just happen to be the ones I go to when wanting to rewatch an episode. It really only occured to me once I was done that I have no season 5 episodes on this list and more season 7 ones which I’m not even sure why that’s the case but it is. They Shoot Gilmores and The Lorelais' First Day at Yale is definitely episodes I watch often, especially because they both have cute moments: ‘Another kid might be nice’ and 'Rory says thanks for everything, too,’ are some. Thanks again for the ask, It was a fun distraction. 💕

if anything good came out of 2020, it’s my discovery of manhwas.

well, it’s not like i’ve never read a single manhwa in the past 15+ years but tbh, the ratio of manhwa:manga i consume on a weekly basis has jumped exponentially this year. previously it was like 1:99 and now it’s like 90:10 LMAO.

so, just to remind myself that the world is still full of good things, i had to make this list. which i will probably edit in the future, if i can be bothered to. :)

anyhow, this list was not made in any particular order, just whichever came into mind. it’s loooong so be prepared! (I’ve read way more titles than mentioned but just included the ones worth checking out)

Bahahah omg he looks evil there! But our dearest archduke is hardly that aww. Soz, I just ripped off the covers of the manhwa cos I can’t find a panel I liked more than another. This is something you pick up on a weekend, when you have time, because you need those hours to digest, appreciate, clutch your chest, tear a little because you find yourself falling in love with these characters. It doesn’t have any of that cliche isekai, romance, revenge themes going on. It has a solid plot, backed by incredible characters, beautifully woven by the authors and artist with incredible pacing that keeps you on your toes and keeps you looking forward to the next chapter. Maybe I would have been happier if I found it after it was completed lol. HAVE I CONVINCED YOU ENOUGH TO MAKE YOU WANNA READ IT?! like, idk, just go. JUST GO READ IT GDI.

p.s. it says there romance but naaaaaaah, dont go in with that expectation. :) this story is so much more than that.

This...this!!! THIS MANHWA NEEDS MORE LOVE. If you need a lot of fluff, a little, ok maybe quite a bit of sadness and tragedy, sweet sweet romance, cutie pies, please, look no further!!! Again, pacing, character development are so important to me and this manhwa aces it. I love the 2 MCs very much. And the side characters too. :)

When I first read this, i fucking cried. like please don’t ask me why. it’s not like its an absolute tragedy but I was just rooting for the MC so much and I really want for everything to go her way. That’s how much I adore this MC!!! I LOVE HER. I LOVE HER MORE THAN YOU DO NORA! HAHAHHA. okay soz. I need to keep this spoiler-free.

Anyhoo, there is nothing typical about this time travel plot. Sure, she goes back to try to undo the stuff that went wrong but phew, she certainly changed things so much everything that comes her way have made it so her previous experiences can hardly help aaaaaaand that’s what makes it fun! I sometimes wish the pacing could be a little more consistent, and there could be more characters I could love a little more wholeheartedly (so i wont have to be in so much despair when i read this sometimes lol) but omg the art, isn’t it pretty?! I’ve re-read this soooooo many times but the art blows me away all the time. And have I already mentioned how much I love her?! I LOVE YOU SHULI! AND I WANT YOU TO BE HAPPY!

i love the whole isekai/reincarnate/transmigration theme and this is honestly one of the better, not-so-cliche or cheesy ones HA.

it’s highly entertaining and breaks all isekai-reincarnation-villainess plot stereotypes. definitely one of the titles i look forward to every week.

BECAUSE OF CLAUDE OF COURSE. ahahaha. okay aside from the amaaaaaaazing art and the beautiful people, the plot is not too bad. a little extreme at times but it’s interesting enough to keep me going. it’s currently on hiatus though and i was highly annoyed by how the first season ended. (YOU WANNA KNOW WHAT HAPPENED? NOTHING.)

i hope the plot can move faster in the next season! and that our dearest MC athanasia can you know, finally be a little more useful... like omg just tell lucas already!!! and tbh girl, no matter which guy you choose, i approve. :D

8. The Flower That Was Bloomed by a Cloud

no matter what, i still think dowun is best for her okay. it’s dowun or nothing. he’s devoted to her, we all know that! he just needs to ditch that annoying female guard!!! ok yknw what, maybe nothing is better. :/ *cries*

and i say this with all the love in the world for both dean and mulder, but cas could have just followed his orders and returned to heaven like every other version of himself did. scully could have easily found a normal man to settle down and have 2.5 kids with. dean was always going to be stuck in chuck's plans, and mulder absolutely could not just go find a wife to settle down with.

cas/scully put up with SO MUCH SHIT from dean/mulder, while being ALWAYS FAITHFUL to them, it was never the easy option to love these men and stay by their sides, it was hard and they worked for it!!!

In a recent post on I Dream of Twilight Sparkle I said that I noticed asks that were not in my inbox the last time I decided to read through my entire ask box. So I did the same for my mod blog. And while there were some also that I didn't see before. Most are questions I feel either I feel like I may have already sufficiently answered enough with my thoughts on an episode and/or it'd be weird at this point to answer something that's obviously years after the fact.

But there is two I found that I feel like I may want to respond to. The person who sent it was someone who used to discuss the show with me almost all the time, though obviously they must no longer be on Tumblr as all their blogs are deactivated. But I still want to answer since it is sort of relevant to recent stuff. Particularly in their 2nd ask.

By the way, I'm always open to questions on the show or even non-pony topics here on my modblog. I still do love talking about G4 ponies and I wouldn't mind some questions if any of you would like to know my opinion on anything. Now that the show has been over for nearly 2 years , I can have a perspective on many topics about Friendship is Magic that I wouldn't mind sharing. Maybe some things have changed here and there, though I think I still generally have a positive attitude towards most things for certain. I stuck with the show until the very end, and was satisfied with how it ended. And I still have interest in doing more in G4's world even as G5 approaches. (Though I'm sure perhaps once that movie has aired that may be the focus of any questions sent here)

For the most part, I think I still generally agree with what I said in my initial thoughts about the Season 6 finale. It's a solid episode with some great interactions between Starlight, Trixie, Discord, and Thorax. Though the way the ending is executed is a bit of a headscratcher. Maybe somewhat less so since thinking about it now, like even if Chrysalis did keep some things loyal. What would stop them from eventually seeing what Thorax's changelings did shortly after.

But I suppose I wanted to answer this mostly about Starlight. Since while the Season 6 finale made HomerJ get over some remaining feelings about Starlight. I'll admit it took literally until writing Secrets of the Dragon's Tear (A year after the show was over) to realize the sort of potential that Starlight had. The baggage from the Season 5 finale always felt like a cloud above her for the entire rest of the show's run. And I consider Season 6's largest mistake is not trying harder to endear us to Starlight. That's what that season's entire job was, to try to make us feel a little better of how rather rushed Starlight's redemption was by giving us a more expanded look into Starlight's character. And unfortunately, I feel like it failed at that in my opinion. Thus I basically disagree (Though respect the opinion of) with those who would say the Season 6 finale was when Starlight finally won them over.

Don't get me wrong, I like how Starlight is portrayed in the episode. But it would of been stronger if say the season had explained more about Starlight's past. How did Starlight get her cutie mark, and given her opinion on Cutie Marks how did she feel at the time?

Instead, we mostly just got Starlight reuniting with Sunburst that didn't exactly give any more details to her rather vague reasons for turning to darkness from him moving away other then finding out Sunburst's personality and how his side of the story went. And from there we had Starlight befriend Trixie... in an episode I still don't really like to this day.

Ironically, the character in the Hearth's Warming episode that casts Starlight as the story's version of Scrooge (Snowfall Frost) is given more reason to sympathize with then Starlight herself.

Starlight then just about disappears up until the episode that introduces Thorax. Where she doesn't do much other then be among the crowd that Spike has to convince that Thorax is not evil.

The next time we see her is Every Little Thing She Does. Which is something of a controversial ep from what I hear, though ironically despite my skepticism of Starlight at the time. I actually sort of liked that episode since it was basically Starlight's own Lesson Zero. Though I get why Starlight deciding to hypnotize all the Mane 6 besides Twilight against their will would not be approved of. Though it does feel like at the very least Twilight and the rest give her enough of a piece of their mind at the end.

And that's how things stood before the Season 6 finale happened. Even though I do think Starlight has good moments in said finale, nothing earlier in the season really dispelled many of my feelings about the Season 5 finale's ending. So despite a good showing, I could hardly care for it. I wasn't convinced yet we were given a satisfactory answer about the many questions that Starlight's sudden redemption prompted.

Another part of my thoughts I feel still applies is when I mentioned that Starlight's a "Diet Sunset Shimmer" (Which considering what I did to link the two for SOTDT, is a bit funny in hindsight). It took just one movie (Rainbow Rocks) for the fanbase to turn a 180 on Sunset. While an entire season with Starlight as one of the good guys goes by and she remained just as divisive as before if not more so by the end of Season 6.

Come Season 7, and Starlight appears quite a bit more often though under the assumption that the Season 6 finale was enough to warm you up to her. There were many complaints during the first half of Season 7 that she was appearing more then she should (Even in an Equestria Girls special where she got to meet the character she was so often compared to). Though another thing about Starlight in Season 7 in hindsight is besides from her meeting a few more friends like Maud. Starlight isn't actually given much to actually work towards. They dropped the whole student aspect so it's not like she was doing friendship lessons under Twilight anymore (Though I suppose on the bright side for the detractors, it lessened worries about her becoming an Alicorn). Season 8 and 9 does somewhat fix that by having Starlight employed at the school, first as a counselor and ultimately ending with her as the school's Principal as Twilight herself got promoted to sole ruler. Which I'm still unsure about if fans of her character feel that was a proper ending for her. Though probably the best that could of been done in context of not much having been done with her over time.

Still, at least for me personally it felt there was alot missing about Starlight and as time went on it became obvious I wasn't going to get the satisfactory answers about her that I wanted. So as a result, I only had lukewarm reactions when a new Starlight episode was coming up. It also didn't help that there were two episodes that raised my hopes of at least one interesting aspect that would of been cool to see. The first being the episode "All Bottled Up" which I had hoped would mean it would be an episode that's somewhat genie related. And then there was Road to Friendship where Starlight and Trixie try to travel to Saddle Arabia (which is an important location in I Dream of Twilight Sparkle)... and yet never actually get there. So even on the few times that I was hoping to be excited about a Starlight episode, it dropped the ball. Partly my fault for getting so hyped about something that wasn't promised, but I would of loved to at least SEEN canon Saddle Arabia.

I'd never say that I hated Starlight back during the show's run. But she was a frustrating character for certain back then. I couldn't hate Starlight as much as some others did, but at the same time I couldn't like her as much as others. She was in likability limbo. For every fun and or good moment that included her, it's brought right back by either lingering problems that arised from the Season 5 finale or otherwise dropping the ball in some way.

In some ways, she's still a frustrating character. Though that's just how it'll always be with the canon Starlight. It's up entirely now to fanon to give their approach on Starlight that was never done in Canon. With SOTDT, I obviously did a bit of a "Fine, I'll do it myself" when it comes to making Starlight a more satisfactory character for me. Though I'm sure there are many interpretations that are vastly different from how I approached it that can satisfy others and probably be more popular and better written then mine. (My interpretation might be understandably controversial just for Starlight being put back on a path where she'll likely become an Alicorn eventually. Something Starlight detractors feared the most. Though I think I at least try to explain as best I could that makes sense with the story, her cutie mark moment being similar to Twilight's, and the identity of her mother. And I myself sort of feared Starlight becoming an Alicorn might happen, so for me to actually write it so that it might be inevitable. That's just how much of a 180 I've taken on Starlight because of writing SOTDT)

I think I mentioned this before, but I can pretty much say that in a way that I can actually say I like Starlight now. But sort of in a "FiM's biggest missed opportunity" sort of way that it becomes sort of sad to look at how canon Starlight was done. Rather then me simply shrugging her off back when I didn't care so much about her. I also understand it's a bit cheating to say I like Starlight now after doing my own sort of fanfic that had her in a major role since that might be me tooting my own horn a bit.

Though I will say as much as necessary that I am very aware alot of what happens in SOTDT would have been impossible to do in canon and I don't plan on pushing what I did to expand on Starlight's backstory as gospel. It only applies to what I'm doing on the blog, I will not be making a case that my interpretation is the only correct one. I'd actually welcome seeing some different interpretations on things such as who Starlight's mother is, what they feel her past was like outside of the Sunburst leaving incident, and/or especially how Starlight originally got her cutie mark. (I've even said my personal guess is different then how I did it in SOTDT, as my guess is she got it the first time she discovered the cutie mark removal spell). Cause if nothing else, I've realized Starlight is a very interesting character that I think would be fun to explore all the possibilities with. It certainly could be something for those still on the G4 train to talk with one another about.

My thoughts on the end of Attack on Titan

This beautiful story has ended and I feel sadness in my heart. I've been a fan for 8 years now and seeing it end really has made me emotional in the past months. Not only that I could identify with many of the characters in terms of their personalities, what also drew me to it was the way the -also OUR- world was shown. That everything is connected and has its consequences. That humanity can always strive for good. That it is important to do so and to not give up. Because life and the world is beautiful. I very much believe there will never be a story like this in my life ever again. A story that astonishes and touches me so deep inside. My love for this wonderful story has grown even more during the last two years and it will never stop making me cry and think about life and its different sides.

SPOILERS ahead!!

I could not be happier with how it ended. It was a worthy end to this brilliant story. Of course it also has its flaws, but overall, I am more than happy. (And I cried tears of joy and sadness alike!)

To me, it was an end full of hope. That shows us so many truths about this world: that it is what it is, that us humans will always have problems. That we make up these problems on our own. This truth is depressing, as we know that mankind will never change. There will always be wars and fights, simply because mankind cannot do otherwise.

And that's why, even if Erens and Ymirs plan had worked on "full scale", the Eldians left alive would have found other ways to quarrel and fight one another in time.

I do not defend Eren's actions. What he did was wrong and horrible. It can never be a solution. But it was his destiny to do so, from the first moment on this was set up to happen. Though I can understand him well - I understand why he had to do it. I felt his pain. He just wanted to help his people. Since the beginning, his main goal was to free the world from the titans - and he did keep his promise. He paid with his life, but he found peace.

I am so relieved and happy that these beautiful characters get the chance to live their lives the way they want to. Especially Armin and Reiner! Oh god, how I still cannot believe this!

I am happy for Levi. He has fulfilled his duty and can live quietly now (and maybe open a tea shop with Gabi and Falco?)

I wish for Annie and Armin to be together, these cuties made my heart melt several times when reading because I never really saw it coming.

And I wish for Mikasa to find a new love. She will never forget Eren, he will always have a special place in her heart, but I hope she can go on and live a happy life.

Even if Eldia is still at war, the people of Paradis are free now. The titans are gone. I don't understand why some people wish for another, darker end. The story is a tragic one for sure. But the end still WAS tragic despite them surviving. Most of the world is gone. And the main character that defined this tale has lost his life and mission. If this gem had ended with everyone dying, it would have meant nothing but pain for me. And as the overall message, this would have left me devastated. This way, it was a bittersweet, worthy and deep ending.

This whole story is a loveletter to life - and as such it should be treated. I find it very fitting. There are a few missing points, and it felt kinda rushed, but that's okay with me. As it again depicts that not everything in this world needs to and cannot be answered. There will always be something that is unspoken. Maybe we will get longer scenes in Part 2 of Season 4, but I wouldn't mind if we didn't.

15.11: The Gamblers - Episode Review/Recap

This ep follows directly on from last week. The episode was very mixed, there were 2 distinct storylines that merged at the end. I had a few issues with the Castiel/Jack side of the story, which I’ll cover later, but the Sam and Dean scenes, for the most part, I was able to enjoy. I even caught myself smiling… fucking smiling at several moments, because this? This was a glimpse of what my show once was. This also explains to the “Just stop watching” brigade why I’m still watching. The brother scenes were a nugget of gold amongst the dross and worth watching for.

Thank you, Davey Perez, Meredith Glynn and Director Charles Beeson for reminding me, albeit briefly, why I fell in love with this show, and at the same time, why I dislike much of Dabb’s run, which in my humble opinion hasn’t just veered the ship slightly off course; it crashed into an iceberg in 11.21 and has been slowly sinking since then. I think last week’s episode brought us to the point where half the ship is now vertical, ready to plunge into the depths of the icy ocean...

...Anyway, enough about sinking ships, the key thing I struggled with going into this episode is the obvious fuck up from the previous week; the entire premise of the Winchester’s losing their “luck” and being reduced to “normal” people, and I want to talk rant about that for a few more minutes before we get onto this episode. If you want to skip that, I’ll put start and end of rant, so you can skip forward.

Start of rant

In order to enjoy this episode, you pretty much have to ignore much of the previous episode and… that doesn’t sit well with me. Last week wasn’t just a single scene you can forget ever existed (e.g. the trench-coat scene or Dean’s apology to Cass). What Dabb did fucked with the entire concept of the show; that the Winchesters are ordinary people who do extraordinary things. So, it’s really difficult to shake that epic fuck up off and just move on.

I just can’t ever buy in to the concept that the Winchesters were “favoured” or have more luck than “normal” people. I mean look at Sam’s life for starters; he didn’t know his mom, he was fed demon blood as a baby, was dragged up in a life he hated, constantly moving, being brought up in crappy motels and forced to train to become a hunter. The love of his life is murdered, and he becomes an orphan at 22. He died at 23 (for the first time) and then he loses the last remaining member of his family at 24. The Winchesters are far from “lucky” and if I could be bothered, I’d go looking for mentions of “with the Winchester luck” that have been peppered throughout the series. Chuck has not “favoured” the Winchesters at all and they haven’t had Charmed lives because of Chuck’s interference.

I also can’t buy into the concept that the Winchesters are anything other than “normal” in the first place. Sadly, they showed last weeks “fight” scenes during the recap and it did nothing, other than enrage me again. Sam and Dean are excellent fighters and hunters because they trained from a young age to be as good as they are. They weren’t “given” anything and certainty not a free ride and fuck Dabb once again for writing that bullshit. It was nothing less than petty because we rejected his instant Hunter!Barbie fiasco that wasted too much of season 13.

So, how do I move forward from that and manage to enjoy this episode? The answer in my opinion, is you can’t, because even with a few good brother moments, the entire premise of this week’s episode fails to make sense, because the previous episode fails to make sense. I’ll cover why that is when we get to the pool game.

End Rant

The episode opens on a recap, and I ask myself why they are using all the bad bits from the previous few episodes, before I remember there weren’t many good bits to select from. That clip of Jensen with the teeth is still funny. 😂

I love the intro again this week. The setting was good, the guest actors, the camerawork, the music choice – North to Alaska - which complimented the scene, rather than felt like nails being dragged down a chalkboard. All classic spn so far, so it has my attention.

Two men (Joey and Leonard) are playing a game of pool and you can tell this is a high stakes game from the get go. What the stakes are, we don’t yet know, but when the game ends, we see 2 coins being held in a contraption above the pool table; one glows green then dulls with the coin head disappearing, the other glows green and gets brighter with the coin head gaining in definition. I don’t think this looks good for the loser. He agrees and tries to attack the winner with his pool cue. He’s stopped from doing so by a bouncer who turfs him outside. 👋 cutie tall bouncer. There’s an absolutely great shot of the loser tossing his coin in the air and the music gets loud again (Hey, I’m here as much for the settings, lighting, music and camerawork as I’m here for the Winchesters – sue me) and then…. Splat. He’s hit by a truck. Poor Leonard, red shirt of the episode. RIP my friend.

As an aside, I like how you guys announce which pocket the 8 ball is going into, we don’t do that.

This was a great into, interesting premise that immediately sucked me in, wanting to find out more. This is my show. Great job so far.

The next scene though shows once again how useless, at least for me, the writing is around Castiel. They wrote an entire scene with him walking into the bunker, seeing a note that has been left, going down to read it “Cass, we’ve gone to Alaska, Sam”. I’m not going to rant about the twats that insist on saying Sam has spelt it wrong, I’ve already done a post about the arrogance of fans trying to tell the show that created the character that they are wrong with the spelling of that character, so I’ll save you by moving on.

This entire scene, while I liked the shots of the otherwise empty bunker, was just wasting time for me. I’ve seen people say Sam left a note because Castiel was in heaven and wouldn’t get a text message and how clever of Sam to resort to paper. I don’t know about anyone else, but I dip in and out of WiFi zones all the time and the moment I dip back in, my phone pings with multiple notifications, so I personally thought this scene was dumb. It would have been better to see Castiel appear back at the sandpit and get a text notification from Sam with the same message.

Even better, you could take this scene away and it changes nothing that happens so why include it? *Whispers* J2 wanted time off and the writers are incompetent of filling that space with something more interesting so use “filler”.

Interestingly, my computer froze on Castiel’s face for 5 minutes so fuck you Norton or Windows 10 Update for your bad timing in running something in the “background”

BROMENT ALERT

We’re finally with what I’m watching the show for. Dean and Sam are in baby and driving towards Alaska. Sam’s phone is lighting up with messages and we find out through Dean that it’s Eileen. 🙄. Oh, Eileen’s being shoved into the narrative now? Sorry Eileen, the third wheel position on the show has already been filled since Season 7. And fuck you again Dabb because I loved Eileen as a friend of Sam and it’s just yet another thing your reverse Midas fingers have screwed over this season.

Dean: Silent mode is always an option

Me: I love you, have my babies… wait, that came out wrong

Eileen thinks the plan is a little too good to be true. Sam thinks she might be right. He’s not convinced the place even exists or that it can fix their problem. Dean thinks it couldn’t hurt and he’s done with normal, including the constant heartburn.

Sam: You know if you changed your diet…. Dean’s frown 😂

Sam insists that no one other than Garth has heard of it and it isn’t in the lore. Dean believes it’s got to be there. He believes Chuck isn’t messing with them,

Dean: He [Chuck] wants us off our game, he wants us weak, ‘cos he’s coming for us Sammy, and when he does, and we haven’t figured this out, we’re DOA.

Mostly a great brother scene, apart from the forced insertion of Eileen – are we incapable of getting a broment in the final chuck damn season, without the completely unnecessary forced inclusion of a third party???! The scene ends with a great shot of baby.

Back at the bunker and Castiel hears a phone ringing, and… I’m trying not to nitpick, but the way this case comes about just annoys me. There are better ways of bringing this about, than how they did it. But moving on, Castiel answers a random phone that was ringing in Sam’s room, and it’s a sheriff (Jeb Evans) looking for FBI agent, Watts. Castiel tells the sheriff that Agent Watts is working a case in Alaska, and that he is Agent… Lizzo. I can only assume Dean gave him that alias as I don’t think Castiel would know any musicians on his own. I like Jeb, who tells Agent Lizzo, they have a homicide and the suspect is someone Agent Watts flagged into the system… and guys… Sam is back to hacking into police systems and I just… I need a moment here as they’ve remembered Sam can hack into systems!

The agent tells Castiel that the suspect is Jack Kline.

Ummm… Castiel, are you... okay? Do you… do you maybe need to use the bathroom? Oh, you’re emoting? Okay dokay then. I can’t with this. I got more out of Leo in the less than 2 minutes he was on screen than I got out of Castiel since his return in season 7.

Back with the impala, which rolls into a diner stop. Sam is asleep, and Dean whacks him to wake him up. Sam wonders why they’ve stopped at “Round up café”. Dean says it’s the last stop for food for a few hundred miles.

Sam (frowns): Grab something out of the cooler

Dean: Yeah, no, I polished off the last of the sandwiches while you were out

Sam (annoyed): We’re on a budget!

Me (sighing): platonic soulmate Husbands! 😍

Last weeks puppy dog eyes fiasco aside, Dean’s still wrapped round Sam’s fingers, they enter the diner, slap some coins on the counter and ask what they can get for $4.60. Apparently, it’s a slice of pie and a coffee, and I’m moving to Alaska when they secede from the US because that would barely get you just the coffee here.

Dean asks for two forks for the pie

Me (sighing): platonic soulmate Husbands! 😍

Long story short on this scene, they get out of the waitress there’s a local urban legend about a magic poolhall in the middle of nowhere, that if you win, you come back lucky. She says though that no one ever comes back. Turns out she knew Leonard from the intro, and he went up there because the bank was going to take his house and he met with an accident.

Sam says at least they know now what the downside is. Dean doesn’t agree, he thinks it could be great, pool is the game of champions, kings, his game, our game, and they have great memories of hustling pool

Sam: yes, because we had to… to eat!

Still not seeing the “luck” Dabb wrote about. Imagine thinking they were remotely lucky; running scams or hustling pool to put a roof over their head or food in their stomach. And this is where I disconnect with this week’s episode, because of last week’s writing. How are they going to even be good at pool, a game that takes practice and skill? The things taken away seem to be random and plot devices; lock picking, fighting, hot metal burns, while it appears Dean can still drive okay, fix baby and I’m guessing their pool is going to be okay too, otherwise what’s the point of this episode? There’s no believable rules to this “bad luck/normal” and I’m left completely drifting and because of it. It's just badly thought out and executed.

Dean: if pool is the way we get our mojo back then maybe we ain’t as screwed as we thought

Waitress: Hey, you guys drive an impala?... I think you guys have a flat.

😂

Back with Cass and sheriff Jeb, Cass has managed to set up the laptop and access a video the sheriff has sent him. The video is of Jack killing a doctor and eating his heart. 😷 Jack, no! I’ll come back to the heart eating later.

Back with the boys, another shot of baby as they pull into “Lurlenes”. Baby isn’t sounding too good and I think I missed that earlier, but it did somewhat register that she was sounding louder than normal. Good touch.

Dean walks over one of the coins as they head for the entrance which I guess might be Leonard’s from earlier. I like little details like this. Once inside, Sam points out they don’t have beer money, much less what it costs to buy into a game. Dean says they’ll figure something out and goes to the bar and orders two waters. I’m guessing that’s going to hit Dean more than health conscious Sam. Dean asks the bar person, Evie, how they get into a game. She calls Pax over and it’s the tall, cutie bouncer from earlier. Sam asks Evie if she saw Leonard and she says no, but you can tell she’s lying.

Pax takes them to his office and explains the rules of the game, that they don’t bet with money, they bet with luck. He gets Dean to touch a coin he puts down and it turns green. Pax looks at the coin and says “not great”

Dean: And that means?

Pax explains that everyone walks in with a certain amount of luck, that the green glow was Dean’s and it was “about average.” Dean thinks that sounds about right. I’m going to head-canon that Dean’s luck is about average of the people that find the pool hall, but below average in general, due to Chuck screwing around with them.

Pax says if Dean wins a game, he might see his fortunes improve.

Sam: And if he loses?

Pax says he can keep playing, but if the coin goes blank, that means you’re out of luck, and you’ve got to leave. He asks if they’ve got any questions.

Sam (a bit pissy): What is this place? Who owns it?

Pax says he doesn’t know, but if they don’t like it, they are free to leave.

Dean: When I win, can I split it (indicates Sam)… the luck?

Pax (sighing): platonic soulmate Husbands! 😍 Oh, wait, sorry, that was me

Pax: it’s yours, you can do what you want

Sam asks for a second to talk to his husband brother.

Sam: no, no, no, no, no way (complete with shaking finger)

Dean: man, I’ve been slinging pool cues since before you were born

Snarky!Sam: when you were four, really? In between snack time and nap? 😂

Dean (internally): damn, I forgot you were my brother for a second and I can’t bullshit you

Dean tells Sam that they need to do this, and that Sam is pretty much better than him, at everything, he’s not mad about it, he’s proud… but he can wipe the floor with Sam at pool. Dean takes Sam’s epic eyeroll as silent permission he can play.

Back with Castiel, he investigates the doctor’s office and finds a weird case which has a sword inside. We flashback to a previous episode with Sam tied to a chair (🙄 it must have been a Thursday). Anyway, the flashback tells us the doctor was one of the Grigori, a brotherhood of perfect beings. I’d forgotten about them and might have to look them up before I touch the heart eating thing. Note: I did look them up and it was a Claire episode, so never mind, that’s why I forgot about them.

We transition from Cas to Jack and he seems to be following someone with the same case as the doctor, so another Grigori. He follows the Grigori into an abandoned building.

Back at the pool hall and no one is biting to play with the noob. Okay, I’m ashamed to say I laughed at this next bit, Dean deliberately breaks badly and loudly proclaims that he’s rusty at this. Oh Dean. No one’s going to fall for… Surprisingly he actually gets a taker and asks Dean to rack up. Sam goes back to the bar to speak to Evie. She asks if he plays and he says not really. Sam asks Evie what the woman’s deal is that’s playing Dean (Moira). Evie says she’s been here a while and her sister is in a coma.

Sam goes into awkward question mode, and I have flashbacks to the earlier seasons. He asks about rotten eggs. Evie responds: Just Charlie… We pan over to Charlie and he’s playing pool badly. Sam then asks if she’s seen “little bundles” laying around. She says no, but she gets that he’s trying to figure the place out. Sam says places like this don’t exist for no reason, she answers that most people think it’s a godsend. She gives him information on a couple of people playing, they won at first, could have walked away winners, but kept playing until their luck ran sour. She repeats they should have walked away which is a clear warning for Sam who looks over at his brother who wins the game.

Back with Jack, he’s got an angel blade and is still after the Grigori. Unfortunately, the Grigori twigged he was being followed and now has Jack at blade point.

Back at the pool hall and Sam is trying to convince Dean they need to leave, and I’m trying not to be distracted by the picture in the scene behind them.

Dean (brandishing his coin at Sam): Come on man, I’m on a roll

Snarky!Sam: Dean, you won one game!

Sam thinks the place sucks you in and that if Dean keeps playing, he’ll lose and end up like Leonard. Dean convinces Sam who reluctantly allows him to have one more game.

Me (sighing): platonic soulmate Husbands! 😍

Dean finds his mark, which is Joey from the intro. We see Dean playing well and Joey asks what his name was again.

Dean: my name is Dean Winchester and I am going to kick your ass.

Sam: 😍 that’s my platonic soulmate husband brother

Joey smiles.

They talk as Dean clears the table. Turns out Joey used to work the bull riding circuit.

Dean (cocky smile): tell me, how was that?… corner pocket. He misses the shot

Joey (grinning): good times (he pots and all he can do is hide the cue ball behind another ball, giving Dean a very tricky shot on the 8 ball)… and some not so good.

Dean goes to take the shot and Joey challenges double or nothing if Dean misses. Sam doesn’t like it. Dean asks if Joey is trying to hustle him.

Joey: I thought you were going to kick my ass

Dean smiles and agrees to the deal, does a trick shot with the cue ball jumping over the other ball and potting the 8 ball.

Joey closes his eyes. Sam looks happy, then Joey says: a hell of a shot.

Dean watches as the coins glow green and Joey’s coin is now dull, and this is sad because even if Sam and Dean haven’t realised the implication yet, Joey is not long for this world. Joey leaves, and Sam and Dean follow. Joey congratulates Dean on the game yet again and says, “I guess you can’t hustle a hustler.” Sam’s concerned when Joey starts coughing. Turns out Joey is dying, he has cancer, he came to the pool hall to beat it, and Sam and Dean have finally caught up with me that this game sucks. This is the first time in a long time, I’ve felt anything for a character on this show that we only meet for a limited time in a single episode, so I’m going to kudos the writing and the guest star for this one. This is what happens when you actually put some characterisation into your writing.

Sam and Dean go back inside. Dean said the plan worked so they should hit the road.

Sam: What about everybody else?

Sam wants to stay and figure out how they can help them. Dean reminds him they are in a fight with God and they just got their mojo back. Sam challenges whether there’s even enough luck in the coin for them. Dean says they’ll give it a try by him going for a drive and if baby’s okay, they are leaving. End of.

Back with Castiel and he meets sheriff Jeb at the abandoned building Jack was captured in. A transient spotted Jack going into the building so called the police. Castiel asks Jeb if there are any other abandoned places around. Jeb tells him about a church.

Back with Sam and he’s talking to Charlie, who is apparently playing so his team can win the Super Bowl and part of me is 😂 and part of me is, I feel you my friend, because Canucks and the Stanley Cup, and desperate measures at this stage.

Sam: that’s great, it is, but is it really worth your life?

Me (picturing the Stanley cup being paraded through the streets of Vancouver): …Yes?!

The puppy dog eyes fail again, Charlie says “just one more game.” And goes back to playing

Evie says at least Sam tried but no one will listen. She says none of “us” are going anywhere. Sam asks if they are trapped here, if Evie was trapped here. She leaves rapidly.

Dean arrives back, baby’s dead again, he didn’t even make it out of the parking lot. Sam takes a look at the coin Dean slams down. He believes Dean should have won more luck than he did, given how many people Joey likely beat before Dean played him and all that accumulated luck should have gone to Dean when he won, but it doesn’t seem to. Sam thinks someone is stealing the luck, skimming off the top.

Dean: You mean like the house?

Sam (lifts coin showing head): her… I think

Dean takes the coin and reads: Atrox Fortvnta

Sam says she’s the Roman goddess of luck. So, Sam’s allowed to be smart as a plot contrivance this week? *cough* hot metal burns *cough*.

They go speak to Evie about who runs the place. She says she can’t help them. Sam asks why she warned him in the first place. Evie says so he would take his brother and go. Dean asks why Evie is there, does the god have something over her. Evie says she played and lost and is only alive because she lets her stay as long as she keeps working. Sam asks if the god is here, but Evie doesn’t know, she only talks to Pax and drops the revelation that Pax is the god’s son.

Back with Jack and the Grigori has injured him and holding him captive. He knows what Jack is and that he’s powerful. The Grigori wants to know why Jack killed his kind. The Grigori have their own frequency of angel radio. Me, 🙄 of course you do because easy plot device. Before his brother died, he called to the Grigori. He asks Jack if he did that to draw him out, to kill him too.

Back with Sam and Dean, Sam approaches Pax wanting to ask a question. While Pax is focused on Sam, Dean grabs him and holds him at knifepoint.

Sam (niceness gone): Where’s your mom?

Loved that bit

Pax doesn’t answer so Sam shouts “Fortuna.” Dean follows with, “We have your son”

Moira walks through the pool hall and we know she is now Fortuna.

Sam says they know she’s skimming luck and they want it back. Dean threatens to kill Pax if she doesn’t

Fortuna: well, you probably could, his daddy was human, but no

Pax (shocked pikachu face): Mom!

Fortuna: I’m sorry baby, I can always make more sons

Sam and Dean (shocked pikachu faces).

Uh oh, leverage gone. Dean releases Pax, but not before the blade cuts his throat a little.

Dean demands Fortuna to play him for it. She says she’s already played him and got a read on him. He’s just a “beach read”. Sexy, but skimmable.

Dean (how dare you face): beach read? lady, I’m Tolstoy

Fortuna laughs and says, “That’s very funny” and approaches Sam: this one here, now he could be interesting

Dean (Protective big brother mode activated): Wait, no, no, that’s…. Uh uh

Sam (I’m 36 years old Dean, not a kid anymore mode activated): Fine… Yeah, okay, but not for our luck. I’ll play for the lives of everybody in here.

Fortuna doesn’t agree, she says the deal is only for their luck and if they lose, she wants their lives. She wants to make an example of them.

The Grigori is torturing Jack, cutting his skin. Jack says he can’t kill him. There’s then expose on the Grigori feeding off souls, and this one feeds off children. I think I’m supposed to not feel sorry for the Grigori when Jack eats his heart, but I do have a few issues which I’ll come onto later. Jack looks to the side and it’s clear he catches something. The Grigori reaches for his sword and points it at Jack’s throat. He asks who told Jack that. He answers Death.

The Grigori senses someone behind him. Now given the Grigori are supposed to be elite and much more powerful than ordinary angels, I’m embarrassed for this one and have no idea how on Earth this Grigori managed to survive to being last of his kind as even Castiel despatched him fairly easily, without too much of a fight, but “new canon” I guess. 🤷‍♀️

With no tests whatsoever, Castiel releases Jack from his bonds. I’m presuming one of Castiel random powers of the week is being able to automatically tell it’s Jack. We get a Cass and Jack hug and I … don’t really care to be honest. I can’t watch Cass without viewing that awful scene in Purgatory so I’m over him.

Back at the pool hall, Sam breaks, potting 2 balls immediately. I love, love, love this next bit: as Sam lines up his next shot, we see Dean nodding in agreement, because yep, that’s the shot he would have went for too. Sam proceeds to knock down a couple more, Fortuna has said a couple of things, but Sam is focusing on the game. She asks why they need the luck so bad, girlfriend problems? Liver failure? (She looks at Dean here). Sam answers: “a curse by god” and misses the next shot.

Fortuna: Life’s a bitch and then you die

Me: Hey! That’s my philosophy!

Dean: THE god literally cursed us

Fortuna (sarcastic disbelief): You’ve met

Dean: Yeah, Little guy, squirrelly as hell

Fortuna: Yeah, that’s him… well, welcome to the club

Dean: the club?

Fortuna answers with exposition while winning the game. God created the world, but humans created the gods, kind of, which led to God creating the other gods. Dean asks why, which makes her angry and she misses the next shot. She says they were created to take the blame for anything that went wrong. That only worked for a while before his ego got the better of him, now he hides behind whatever religion pays the biggest syndication deals. She keeps talking about how pissed she is and that she’s holding a grudge. Sam meanwhile is quietly potting balls and winning the game. She realises this and shakes off her mood, “oh well, what can you do?”

Dean: we’re going to fight him

Fortuna: are you now? And when you lose?

Sam’s voice from off screen: we lose swinging

He then appears in shot and says “8 ball, corner pocket” and she realises the game is nearly over.

Sam lines up for the shot, looks at Dean briefly, then… he wins. I wasn’t expecting that, and Dean is happy too.

Fortuna (to Sam): you little minx, you got me talking!

Sam smirks

Fortuna: you’re good

Sam: I learned from my brother

Dean approaches: all right, you know the deal, even up

Fortuna offers to make it interesting, if they are going to fight God, that’s the stuff of heroes and they are going to need the luck of heroes. Hercules, some other people, she helped them all. Sam asks what the catch is. She says another game, double or nothing.

Dean: Double? That’s how the cowboy died.

Sam agrees to play, “but not for more luck,” he indicates the room, “for them. If I win, you have to let them go.”

Fortuna: I’m not stopping them

Sam: Okay, when I win, you have to give back the luck you stole, close up shop

Fortuna: What is with you and these losers? They’re nothing, they don’t matter

Sam: they matter to me

Dean: they matter to us

Everyone in the poolhall (sighing): platonic soulmate Husbands! 😍

Fortuna agrees. She breaks, and it all goes downhill from there. Sam doesn’t even get to play a shot.

They lost. There’s silence

Fortuna: you challenged the goddess of luck in her own joint, what did you think was going to happen?

Me: pretty much this tbh, I’m actually surprised Sam won the first game

Dean: well, we had to try

Fortuna: well, that was stupid

My poor boys. They leave the poolhall.

Dean: I thought she was going to kill us

Sam: well she doesn’t have to, our luck will do that on its own … Dean, we can’t just…

Dean:… leave ‘em? Yeah, I know.

Me (sighing): platonic soulmate Husbands! 😍

Dean: all right, well let’s go get WiFi and see what kills Lady Luck, we’ll circle back

Sam’s agreeing when Evie comes out, followed by the other players. They ask her what happened. She says Fortuna shut it down. They ask why

Evie: Because of you, she said she thought your kind had gone extinct

Sam: Our kind?

Evie: Heroes, like the old days

Fortuna also gave her a message to pass on, “Don’t play Chucks game, make him play yours.

She hands Sam a coin which he somewhat reluctantly takes. He holds it in his closed fist as she walks away. He opens his hand and we see the coin glow green on his skin. Dean “grabby hands” Winchester snatches the coin, getting a glare from Sam and the coin glows green in his hand too.

They get into the car and Dean fires up the engine. “We’re back baby!”

Aww, Dean called Sam baby.

Me (sighing): platonic soulmate Husbands! 😍

Also me: You can take your “Castiel is a lamp” sub zero text and whack yourself over the head with it.

They drive away. And I’m left behind wondering if they’ve got their “normal” luck back or the supercharged hero luck that Sam said he didn’t want and that’s why he was reluctant to take the coin.

They arrive back at the bunker. Dean’s scratching lottery cards and doesn’t win. So much for the superhero luck.

Sam consoles his husband brother that they might not have won the lottery, but they have no car trouble, the credit cards work again, and Dean was able to eat back to back bacon double cheeseburgers, that didn’t kill him. So…

Dean: that was beautiful by the way… I’m just saying, would it have killed her to give us a little extra?

Sam: well, she thinks we’re really heroes, maybe they don’t get all the answers

Well hopefully that conversation answered my concern from earlier.

Cass appears, looking shifty (when doesn’t he tbh). They know something is wrong and Sam asks him. He steps aside and Jack appears. Jack dorky waves hello and we all melt and immediately forget he killed their mom and did some other really naughty stuff that at the very least should get him a time out. Apparently, Dean and Sam forget too. This scene is shot with Jack and Cass at one side of the reading room and Sam and Dean on the other.

Sam: Jack?

Castiel (to Sam): it’s really him

Sam walks over to Jack first and gets quicker as he reaches him and we get a Sam and Jack hug, and since I didn’t get one in season 14, I’ll ignore the mom killing, heart eating etc. for a few minutes and enjoy the hell out of this one. Yes, I’m fickle! But I loved this nougat eating baby before Dabb ruined him.

Dean walks across more slowly, reaches and grasps Jack behind his neck, staring into his face as if checking it’s really him. I think he’s struggling to see past the burnt-out eyes which was their last view of him. He looks briefly at Cass once. To me it’s a silent thank you (headcanon for bringing Jack back for Sam in particular), and an equally silent, you’re welcome. Jack looks a little apprehensive as obviously the last time he was alive, Dean was going to shoot him, stopped only by Sam.

They all have a beer at the map table, Sam asks Jack about eating hearts, so it’s good that hasn’t been hidden. Jack said he had to.

Dean (to Castiel): and you let him?

Castiel nods (likely waiting for the anger for doing the wrong thing)

Dean (shrugs): hmmm

And… that is not my Dean. They’ve turned him into a neutered house cat and idiots are calling it “growth”. And all I can hope is that his natural instincts fight their way through, I believe it’s wrong to trust Jack is okay eating hearts, even of ones that eat children’s souls and I hope we see that develop as we progress.

Sam: you could have called us

Jack: every day I wanted to come home, but I couldn’t

Dean: why not?

Jack: because if I don’t stay hidden, if I use my powers, my grandfather, he’ll know I’m back, and try and kill me… again… he’s afraid of me, and that’s why we had to wait.

Castiel: Billy kept him hidden in the empty, until Chuck went off world

Jack: she let me out when it was safe

Dean: safe to what? Eat a bunch of angel hearts?

Jack: safe to do what I have to.

Turns out the hearts were just the beginning, they made Jack strong, but not strong enough. If Jack follows her plan, he’ll get stronger and he’ll be able to kill god.

Sam and Dean (in winsync): bitch please, this is our show!

Not really, that was just me and we end on that note. I could wish we had ended on “The Gambler” by Kenny Rogers, but season 15 music budget. Sigh.

So, I have a few other issues with this episode, particularly with the Jack side of the storyline, off the top of my head;

1) I’m hoping we aren’t sweeping what he did in season 14 under a rug, a la Castiel.

2) I’m hoping we aren’t just going to support him eating hearts (even of bad angels) without fully investigating what this supposed plan is.

3) I’m struggling with the heart thing anyway. I don’t believe an angel has a heart to eat, only the human vessel does so I’m going to need an explanation on why eating human hearts is supposedly goring to make jack stronger, and why we don’t care about the human vessel

4) I’m struggling with how a lesser god can give back what God took away, even if that lesser god is the goddess of luck, God still trumps her.

Other than that, I think Death is bad now, or at least Billy’s version of death is. I think they changed course on wanting to kill the Winchesters a couple of seasons ago when they realised they could play a part in them reaping God. Possible reason, just being tired after all this time, and wanting it all to end. And it can’t end before Chuck dies. Possible power play.

I still think Chuck will die. I still think the Winchesters will become firewalls, not sure what Jack is, other than a toddler whose power needs to be bound until he can wield it responsibly, and Castiel is going to sacrifice himself at some point. And the less we say about Eileen, the better.

okay okay okay this has been in my inbox for a lil while and i feel like ive been building up to it but im going to watch some clips and gather some thoughts.....i asked @theyellowcurtains to give me a number limit for each and he said 3 so im gonna do 3 of each otherwise id just write a frame by frame analysis of all of season 3 (im so sorry for how long this post is i have so many thoughts all the time)

im gonna start with matteo moments and im gonna list the season/episode/clip just for clarity okay?? okay (im doing matteo moments that dont include david because i have to go off about that later on)

1. s3ep10cl2- okay okay so the morning after clip is perfect in every single way and i could go off about it for years but beyond all of the davenzi stuff there is the moment when matteo leaves davids room and hes wearing the gray sweater, when laura is dancing??? which is also iconic all on its own but im talking specifically about matteo here, so you know he sits down on that stool thing and hes smiling SO big and hes blushin really hard and then laura sees him and they LAUGH??? and then he claps for her???? if i had to pick id absolutely say that that whole sequence is my fave matteo moment and also kind of interesting and makes me think about the fact that matteo is definitely very shy and quiet but he also has that like,, brat confidence?? i could make an entire post about that but ANYWAY yeah that is the fucking best matteo moment hes so cute and nervous but also totally fine being obvious about the fact that him and david fucked which i think is hilarious but i digress and i MUST move on

2. s3ep8cl2- i do have to say that while im not a HUGE fan of the explanation the video he watched gave of like,, what being trans is, im really glad they included this clip?? like its so obvious that matteo wants to talk to david but doesnt really know what to say, and i love that his first instinct was to start looking stuff up?? like if i was into a cis guy and he told me that he didnt really know about trans stuff but he did RESEARCH?? like thats just really sweet and shows that he really fucking loves david already and just wants to be more informed about what hes,, not to say signing up for but i cant think of a better phrase but yall know what i mean ya know??? its just very very sweet of him!!!!!

3. s3ep8cl4- i think people know about my deep love for hans so of course this clip is going to be one of my favorites?? im going to narrow it down a bit though because the part of this clip that hit me the fucking hardest was when hans asks “what do you like about him?” because the way matteo reacts is just?? so sweet?? at first he looks a little unsure but then when hans repeats himself matteo licks his lips and goes “well, i love his smile” like????? is that not the cutest fucking shit?? he literally swoons and collapses back into the chair cause hes probably imagining it and then he goes off about it being “beautiful” with david and im sure hans is trying not to cry?? and hans ending it with “thats the only thing that really matters, everything else is secondary” and matteo going “thats true” and then laughing a little bit?? i feel like that whole thing was a bit of a turning point for matteo and wow i am,,, so emotional about it

oh my god im so sorry im going off but im about to go off more cause,,, im gonna talk about davenzi moments now

1. s3ep10cl1- okay im just gonna start strong even though i feel like everyone talks about this clip i REALLY wanna talk about it because??? the fact that they showed a fucking sex scene between a trans boy and a gay cis boy is still so fucking iconic and legendary?? while this whole season really changed my life, this scene in particular is so.......it just feels so good to see. like its so nice watching that and seeing someone who looks like me ya know?? not that i look like david god i wish i was that lucky but like,, someone wearing a binder?? someone whos body looks more like mine than any other trans rep ive seen?? and seeing that body being portrayed as DESIRABLE??? i think thats one of the things that gets me the most is just how like,, just how much matteo is into david lol it just feels good feels organic but im gonna stop myself here before i talk for 1000 years about a less than 4min long clip lmao

2. s3ep10cl4- okay so this clip really just highlights the cute beginning flirting stages of their relationship?? like matteo doesnt want to host the party but then he sees david and smiles and then hes smiling like a fool when he hands david the beanie back and theyre both just so awkward but obviously crushing?? and he wants to keep talking so of course hes gonna bring up the time they hung out, and he looks a lil shocked after david says “it was cool with you” and then he like,, stutters through inviting him to the party cause hes probably so nervous!!! theyre both just such big losers with such BIG crushes on each other its really just the cutest fucking clip and also kinda shows that david isnt necessarily just this,, cool dude?? hes also a stuttery blushy dork with a crush?? wow wow its just such a good underrated clip WOW

3. s3ep9cl7- okay okay okay okay okay im sure there are like lenghty analyses about this clip already but i dont care because holy FUCK??? something i didnt really notice about it before was once matteo finally goes up to david hes like “are you fucking serious” but then he sees that david is fuckin spiraling so his voice gets softer and he asks him like “hey whats wrong” and its just a really good set up to the conversation?? and its nice to see that despite matteo probably being kinda angry hes mostly just worried about david?? and then matteo just lets david go OFF at him and only talks when hes trying to tell him that it isnt going to be the same as it was last time but then once he sees that david is getting angrier and louder hes like okay how am i going to get him to listen so of course matteo, the quietest boy in the world, yells back!!!! and yeah thats the thing that finally stops david from working himself up!! and matteo realizes that hes gonna need to be a lil loud and pushy to make david listen to him and then he goes back to being soft once david is paying attention to him!!! and then he talks and he says so much, like much more than he usually does at one time, and god GOD the way they did that was jsut so GOOD!!!!! and the fact that matteo, who appears to be either depressed or apathetic like 90% of the season, is the one that says i love you first??? and during such an emotional and important moment like?? like after going off about how david isnt alone and that hes really great and jsut needs to stop hiding himself away LIKE???? guys its jsut so so good its just so good i could talk for years but im gonna cut myself off here

honorable mentions cause i cant shut the fuck UP:

1. when theyre looking at davids sketchbook and david is like “these are private actually all of them are private” and matteo is like “well you already showed them to me it doesnt matter” and then he giggles like damn no question why david had such a huge crush on him immediately hes such a cutie

2. “its not a girl”

3. ill just say the whole cuddle clip?? the tender/feral dichotomy?? absolutely *chefs kiss* just fucking perfect

4. THE FIRST KISS??? also gotta say i noticed something for the first time the other night but matteo SMILES and i hadnt seen it before its right after david says “i bet i can hold my breath longer than you” and then the angle changes and he smiles before holding his breath and it killed me when i saw it whoops

5. final shout out along the same lines as ^^ that one but just?? anytime matteo smiles?? fills me with serotonin. the smile in the final clip right before david runs over to kiss him?? the smiles when hes fuckin around with the boys?? every single lil nervous crushy smile with david??? i could go on but im going to stop this now before i say any more this is already too long

Otherwise, I’ll explain the whole concept of the show if that’s what you’re asking (if not just ask again and ask specific questions if you would like to~).

To start, there are a total of 101 trainees from different companies (excluding the big 3, the only exception is YG K+). They are competing to debut in an 11-member group. In the end, it may turn out to be tragic, especially for the fanbase who may like more than one trainee, as well as for the trainees themselves because some of their fellow trainees from their company may be eliminated or just other trainees they have become close with.

To compete, the trainees were put into groups to perform different versions of songs. For example, there were two ‘Boy In Luv’ performances, performed by two different teams. One team performs the original song with original lyrics while the other team changes up some of the lyrics. The teams may change the choreography so the performances aren’t too similar. I may be wrong on this, but these were the changes I saw in the performances.

After this, they were split into different groups, performing songs such as ‘Shape of You’, Spring Day’, ‘Rhythm Ta’, etc. Shape of You was the most popular one(and my personal favorite).

When there were 35 contestants, there were five performances with 7 members in each group. The performances were I Know You Know, Oh My Little Girl, Never, Knock (Open Up), and Showtime.

After the performances, each trainee is ranked. From what I’ve seen from clips and other posts, there was a total of three eliminations and there are now only 20 of them. The first elimination was in episode 5, where 41 contestants were eliminated. Some trainees left the show. In episode 8 there were 58 remaining and only 35 were left after the second round of eliminations. Episode 10 is where 15 were eliminated to leave only 20 trainees left. Now the 20 trainees are split into to groups and are going to perform their songs in the next episode.

Many of the contestants (whether they are still on the show or not) definitely deserve to be an idol, but it all comes down to the nation of South Korea. If you don’t already know, there is always hate on some contestants (like Jang Moonbok and Lai Guanlin and Ha Sungwoon), but there are always favored contestants too.

Produce 101 Season 2 is a great show overall. I hoped this helped you a bit (because it’s all facts and I went to Wikipedia so…), but if you watch self-cams and other clips, you’ll see more of the boys being cuties and taking care of each other~

A ROYAL PROBLEM THOUGHTS

A Royal Problem sure is an episode that almost every longtime fan of Friendship is Magic has been waiting for: An episode heavily involved around the alicorn sisters of Celestia and Luna who has always captivated the fanbase for more reasons then one.

Luna alone is arguably just as popular as the most popular of the Mane 6 (I don't know who stands out as THE most popular of the Mane 6 though if I had to guess 3 candidates it'd be Twilight, Rainbow, or Fluttershy).

Though that doesn't mean Celestia has been unpopular as there's plenty of fandom content centering around the Princess of the Sun including many alternate character interpretations that have their own followings that either are on the humorous side such as Trollestia, the naughty and oft-controversial Molestia, and the grim Tyrantlestia that depicts Celestia as if she is behind the scenes the true villain behind the scenes. None of those particular 3 are canon, but there are moments in the show where fans of those interpretations could take it that way. Trollestia whenever she does a little prank or especially after the Gala in Best Night Ever where we found out she invited the Mane 6 just to make it interesting, the line "There is no wrong way to fantasize" had to have given anybody who remembers Molestia some gigglefits, and any decision of Celestia's that some people felt was too hasty a decision or too harsh got some accusing her of being at fault for the event happening in the first place.

Though in some ways those interpretations were probably partly made because unfortunately Celestia doesn't get that much screentime so not a lot of character could be gathered, she still technically doesn't have an episode to call her own where she's that central to the plot (Even Luna has had that, especially in more recent seasons). But at least the first episode this season and this episode was a huge step forward compared to everything that came before.

Though one last thing before I get to the episode I should also address the other main character of the episode. And it's kinda surprising because she's still kind of a controversial topic within the fanbase right now. I am of course talking about Starlight. Not only is she the one who is chosen to be the character that finally brings us a Celestia and Luna episode, for some reason the map has her Cutie Mark compatible when in all previous map usage it's been just the Mane 6 and assumably the tree and map being born from the Tree of Harmony it's particularly Mane 6 specific because they are the elements. There is the possible situation that because Starlight helped restore the Map's power that it now recognizes her. But that still might not be enough to address the core issue of the map being able to call Starlight in that this was for the Elements, does this mean Starlight is now somehow an Element of Harmony? But if so where's her throne at the round table? Though to be fair it's probably a good thing they don't have that yet. Still it could make people confused on what exactly is Starlight anyway. She doesn't appear enough in Mane 6-centric episodes to be considered part of a now Main 7 but she seems a little too important to be just secondary now.

Either way though it's just another chapter that has split the fandom on Starlight even further. My take on it however? I may be one that's not too keen on Starlight myself, but I'm going to say I was ok with this. Because 1. As I kinda expected the 3 out of 4 major appearances at the start of the Season was an outlier and we didn't see very much of Starlight aside from a short appearance in Fluttershy Leans In so that's 6 episodes without Starlight in a major role. 2. There is no one else who would make the hasty decision of switching Celestia and Luna's cutie marks like that. Twilight's switched cutie marks in Magical Mystery Cure but we get the feeling if she had known the spell was going to switch her friends Cutie Marks and ruin their lives/memories she wouldn't of done it. That doesn't mean you have to like what Starlight did but it was good use of how hasty Starlight can be sometimes and also throws back to how Starlight is able to move Cutie Marks. This time just switching instead of outright removing and 3. I didn't feel like she stole the show that much from Celestia and Luna to matter. We got a great amount of Celestia and Luna that certainly feels refreshing.

The news of this episode because of the Treehouse leaks just piled on top of those who really, REALLY don't like Starlight at a time she had just gotten a big role in 3 of the first four episodes of Season 7 plus an announcement that she'll be in the most anticipated of the 3 EQG specials coming later (They've been released in English and I've seen them all, but I'll treat them like episodes and review each one week-by-week). So for those who can't stand Starlight that was a lot to take in and no doubt expressed displeasure at Starlight seeming to steal the spotlight twice as hard as she did in all of Season 6. I for one however am going to take a more fair approach. It sure seemed like Starlight was getting a lot of attention but we still have much of the Season to go. And heck I've seen many synopses for the upcoming episodes and not a lot of them are very obvious Starlight-centered episodes. Unless we get a lot of surprise Starlight-involved episodes like that Maud episode we had, Starlight doesn't look like she'll be that much more involved then she was in Season 6. So I'd advise people to take a bit of a more calm approach to it. As for the EQG special that includes Starlight I'll get to that subject when we get to it. But for now Season 7 is still the subject. So let's focus on that until we reach the official mid-season break (Which is after Episode 12 airs in the US, so pretty soon)

On to the episode itself though, it's certainly an interesting setup. And we do get some legit character moments from Celestia and Luna that feels like it's been ages since that's happened. Though admittedly it's also easy to some people who might be a bit unhappy with the portrayal of the sisters because some of their arguments feels more like petty sisters then the royal leaders who've led Equestria for more then 1000 years. And I won't fault anyone for thinking that way, Celestia talks down to Luna pretty much like any episode in a cartoon where siblings switch jobs or whatever duties they have for a day. When you also have to keep in mind Celestia once had to do at least the moon raising part of Luna's job as well for the 1000 years she's been gone so you would think she kinda understands after that long of double-duty. Though it's fair to say she hasn't been much to the dream realm at least. Perhaps it does give a little leeway into what developed into Nightmare Moon. I mean if Celestia and Luna still have sisterly fights even now after the whole 1000 year banishment. You have to wonder if it was much, much, much, MUCH worse when they were 1000 years younger.

Anyway, as they switch we see that Luna lacks the social skills to do Celestia's job. While Celestia has a hard time handling the loneliness of night duties without someone to talk to.

But perhaps I'm sure what will be the most memorable part of the episode is we see while Celestia is in the dream realm a Nightmare Moon version of Celestia called Day Breaker. Which is awesome, this was something I thought was going to be one of the timelines in the Season 5 Finale due to the card game having something like it at around the time the finale was approaching. But hey better late then never. Remember when I mentioned the alternate character interpretations that the fandom made for Celestia? Day Breaker is practically Tyrantlestia incarnate. And Celestia fights that side of her valiantly to prove the kind of pony she is.

The ending of the episode is plenty heartwarming and perhaps for the first time since the pilot we had some happy dialogue between the two. So we can definitely appreciate this episode for showing some things we've always wanted. I won't blame people for being not as sure for either of Starlight being in the spotlight again or perhaps making the sisters argument scenes rather more petty then they should be. But I think otherwise it's a welcome episode to have.

Next time is the final episode before the midseason break featuring the return of the Yaks. Seeya then.
