Happy Spring Equinox to all. It was a lovely Burgeoning Day on our end, which we spent amongst the buds and blossoms, being serenaded by the drumming of Grouse wings.
As we prepared an Ancestral Feast—which we hold on the Spirit Nights preceeding each of the Cardinal Sabbaths we observe—a small Moth flew to us and landed on our Votive Urn, where it stayed for most of the ritual. This felt quite propitious, since the moth represents an especially potent animal emissary of the Dead in our tradition.

Preparing for my upcoming Halloween herb magic class and wanted to recommend this book ahead of time because it is so good! Full of vibrant botanical drawings and it even covers the baneful herbs which are an important part of Samhain lore. Forward by Andrew Theitic editor of The Witches’ Almanac. It has a similar almanac feel because it’s loaded with random bits of interesting and obscure information. It would be a great book to work with throughout the entire season because it has so many different recipes and rituals. 🎃 - - - #samhain #halloweenherbs #halloweenherbmagic #samhainrituals #ancestorwork #spiritcommunication #halloweenherbmagic https://www.instagram.com/p/Cidmsc8LYPo/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Putting the final details on three new fairy doors! They will first be available in my Etsy Shop, and then at @paganpridela in October if no one snags them online first! The mini hammer was my grandfather's! I love how much of him is in the entire process! He and my grandmother are always on my mind, but especially as we approach Autumn! #fairydoorsofinstagram #wipwednesday #wipart #MJNWVIP #fairiesofinstagram #peacelovefairydust #triplemoon #bluemoon #triske #triskelion #sacredsymbol #symbolmagic #paganpride #etsyofinstagram #woodcarving #woodworkingofinstagram #ancestorwork #witchesofinstagram #triplespiral #handcarved #fairygardendecor #fairygardensofinstagram #hippiestyle #gardensofinstagram #tiedye #bluemoonfairy #etsyofinstagram #handmadehour #craftbizparty #handmadeofinstagram #shophandmade https://www.instagram.com/p/ChuvCLHpOqW/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

I loveeee coffee in the morning, but my ancestors have popped up during Obi readings to guide me towards healthier alternatives as a part of better caring for my body. That’s how I discovered this delicious caffeine free, all natural, and nutrient-rich coffee replacement: dandelion and chicory root tea. It’s easy to make, better for your body, and full of fiber and antioxidants that are good for your digestive system. It has a distinctive taste that’s rich and flavorful like coffee, but also smoother and less bitter than your average cup of joe. For 16 oz. of this herbal drink: - 4 cups water - 2 tablespoons dandelion root - 2 tablespoons chicory root https://www.instagram.com/p/B7Cwe3yhHNN/?igshid=ym9v1gjwcl4n

Dead Man’s Pendulum (the only one) made with the finger bone of a 20th century anatomical display, tethered to a glass pendulum containing graveyard dirt. The pendulum comes in a wooden box stained with nightshade, dragon’s blood and myrrh and is fumigated in dragons blood resin. The box is inscribed with the plant spirit glyph of henbane herb of necromancers. Did some #spool #magic with @acorn_tops business card and my own! The #beeswax #candle was for sweet abundance. Spools are a great representation of the ties that bind and the #ancestors who are so prevelant to us during this time and in our work. Keep an eye out for more on #spoolmagic! ***If you use spools to hold candles, be sure to keep a very vigilant eye on it. It's out! After three years of research and writing, I've finally released my 364 page book on the lost constellations of Northern Europe. The book is packed with wonderful illustrations by my amazing wife Alex Wynn-Rubsam! Long before the people of Northern Europe had ever heard names like Orion or Scorpio, the ancient tribes of the Celtic, Germanic and Slavic peoples had their own unique systems of constellations and magic tied to the great shapes and phenomena of the skies. Sky Wolves is an exploration of the ancient Northern European sky lore that has almost been completely eradicated over the course of the past several thousand years. Each chapter presents a constellation in summary for the curious, then follows it with enough research and scholarly information for skeptics and passionate re-constructionists alike. The text is the result of years of scholarly research, designed and laid out in a way that makes it accessible to practitioners, researchers, shamans, and even people who just want a basic idea of what their Northern European ancestors saw in the sky before the constellations and myths of the classical zodiac all but erased the rich heritage of sky lore that we are, only now, starting to piece together again. ISBN#: 9781678141080 If you'd like to pick up a copy, follow this link: http://www.thunderune.com/2020/02/sky-wolves.html I've also included a brief snippet of the book on my Patreon for supporters at the $1 level. The short section on Patreon concerns the Norse god Thor, and the constellation that was associated with him. Motherhood Tarot Reading
In honor of mother's day I created this tarot spread to reflect upon my own journey as a mama.
A: card to represent child (draw a card for each child)
B: card to represent you as a parent
1. What is my strength as a parent?
2. What am I doing that is having the greatest impact on my child?
3. In what way does my child impact my own life?
4. What does my child need from me?
5. How can I be more present with my children?
6. What do I need to do to nurture myself?
Tumblr media
A: card to represent child: The Tower
My child came into the world with a CRASH. Born unexpectedly premature, via emergency c-section, and has come with more challenges than I could have ever anticipated.
B: card to represent you as a parent: The Empress - the MOM card!
1. What is my strength as a parent? The Wheel of Fortune - #Blessed! In the face of challenging circumstances I am able to remain optimistic. I know in the grand scheme of things I am incredibly blessed. I do my best to create a positive change in the world around me in exchange for the blessings that I have been given.
2. What am I doing that is having the greatest impact on my child? Nine of Pentacles - I've created a happy, comfortable life for my child. I've worked hard for a long time and planned for my family. I have created a loving home with everything he could need.
3. In what way does my child impact my own life? The Well - This is a special card in this tarot deck which represents knowledge and spiritual nourishment. Becoming a mother reawakened my spirituality.
4. What does my child need from me? Eight of Swords - This card is telling me to be aware of negative self-talk and the restrictions I place upon myself as a parent. There is a tendency to be too hard on myself and doubt my mothering abilities. My son needs me to let myself be happy.
5. How can I be more present with my children? Death - My personal associations with this card call upon my ancestors, who are quick to make this card fly out as a reminder that they are always giving me advice! In this case, it may be telling me to look back upon how mothers have connected to their children since the dawn of humanity, by stripping away what is unnecessary and focusing on connecting through daily tasks and time spent in nature. Or it could be telling me to turn off my &#$%ing phone!
6. What do I need to do to nurture myself? Five of Cups - This card is a reminder of the lingering PTSD from my child's traumatic birth. I have mountains of regret and pain and guilt regarding that time, and it's hard to think about my child without thinking about it. The best thing I could do for myself would be to leave the past in the past (if it were only that easy!)
