Their just a little guy. Making a horrible snow frog.
Cosmic Guardian as the Collector! Sprig and Polly end up naming the Domino 3 (D3 for short). Lots of their colors are from the cat forms we saw them as in Amphibia. Uhh yeah I tried my best with what was given.
Lore time. So D3 made the gemstones, Wit, Strength and Heart out of boredom (as one does). And well they wanted to play and eat pizza bangles. Eventually the stones got tried and fled from D3. D3 got mad and went on a rampage so the stones stopped them by locking them up in a music box. Andiras and his dad (yeah he's here too) found D3 and kept them in hopes of learning where the stones where. But D3 didn't know and instead taught the two magic and what not. Yada yada Polly frees them against her brothers pleads and here we are. The Plantars have a connection with the stones that I'll get into when I talk about Leif. (I got LORE and a ADHD brain if u haven't guessed)

When it comes to Amphibia's finale, the Guardian tends to be rather divisive, with takes ranging from 'they're cool' to 'this is the true villain of the story.'
I chalk the division down to the fact that a lot of questions are raised when the Guardian is introduced, and most of them aren't answered. The most glaring is the question as to why the Guardian would call itself a 'Guardian,' yet not interfere when Andrias' ancestors used the stones for evil.
Now, the Guardian does say it's only a watcher and observer, but that...is blatantly not true, given the Guardian created the stones, revived Anne (sort of), and gave her shards home. That's three times the Guardian intervened, so it's arguably not a watcher, but a passive influencer who will only step in if it benefits their search for a successor.
And if they really could put a stop to the Core...it takes a special kind of egomania and lack of self-awareness to create items of ultimate power, refuse to stop them from being used for evil, then say 'Those mortals, huh? Not very responsible with their power.' Like, and you're much better? But again, that's only fair if the Guardian could intervene, and the show doesn't make it clear whether the Guardian has limits to their power (the fact that they created a copy of Anne rather than simply revive her from death implies the latter is something they can't do).
So why do you think the Guardian couldn't/wouldn't stop the stones from being misused during their centuries-spanning search for an heir? Because I'm not getting an answer from Matt Braly anytime soon.
*bops you on the head for that last sentence* You shouldn't be hoping for the creator to tell you how to feel. Form your own opinions.
Anyways, besides that, something these recent Amphibia asks make me hum is whether or not Amphibia is almost too good in our current media landscape. I know that sounds like an asshole response but you have to understand that very few works feel like they're made with this much intent, let alone this much intent while appearing to be a normal, approachable piece of genre fiction. As such, a lot of elements get used almost so well as to either throw people or make them want more. Sasha is so well written after all that people want quite literally any excuse for more of her. Marcy is made so relatable in her crime that no one wants to seem to admit that it was still the wrong thing to do.
And the Guardian is a perfectly bored god when we're so used to bad ones.
That really is it. I praise The Book of Life for having good God depictions as well because of the length of their machinations. How little mortals will matter to them. How quaint we are. Those ones still see us as entertaining though and making their job fulfilling, even if we at times become chess pieces on the grand board we play.
The Guardian is what you get when a god no longer sees us as entertaining. It was bored. So in its boredom, something that should be INCREDIBLY difficult with how many universes it theoretically protects, you know, INFINITE, it got an idea. A shake up only it could introduce while also finally giving it an out by being a test as well.
It says as much. "I was curious what mortals would do with infinite power and only you got it right." He sounds frustrated. Annoyed. Tired. He has the voice of a child not because of his age but because age has worn him down into nothing more than a child looking for an excuse to do something other than his chores.
And with understanding that mindset... Why would it have intervened? To interrupt the game means admitting it doesn't work and so having to come up with something new. It also means going back to being bored. Going back to having no successor and having no way to find one. And on the theoretically infinite cosmic scale... What does a few worlds being damaged mean to him? Because he looks over entire UNIVERSES. There is Space in Amphibia. They have a moon. That also means they theoretically have an entire galaxy, star system, etc. and that is ONE. UNIVERSE.
It is a scale we cannot comprehend... And that bored the Guardian. That made it NEED to retire. Because don't get me wrong: The Guardian fucked up. It made a half baked experiment and even his reward for it failed to manifest. Someone who would use the stones correctly would inherently not desire ultimate power. It's questionable if Anne will want it even when she dies.
However, calling The Guardian the real villain of the story is like calling the weapon that killed someone the real murderer, even if the person who did the crime was willing to kill with their bare hands. The Guardian wanted to see what people did with ultimate power. Some will say "Absolute power corrupts absolutely" but I like to believe more that "Absolutely power REVEALS absolutely." After all, the Guardian made a mistake but for a test of morality and responsibility for a scale as large as his job... He actually devised a really good test.
If you cannot handle a shred of his power correctly... What do you do with ALL OF IT? How quickly will YOU get bored? How much bigger will your fuck up for personal satisfaction be than a couple dozen worlds? But all he did, all he ever did, was present the option.
Like ALWAYS with Amphibia... It is the character's choice. The Core decided to hurt others. Andrias decided to follow the Core's dream to chase a time lost to him the second Lief took the box. Aldritch only got that utopian world that Andrias misses by abuse of others, using the box as the tool for that abuse and then easily stratifying his subjects because he hadn't seen people as people for a long while now.
And of course, Anne CHOSE to give her life to be the guardian of Amphibia before ever even considering the sorts of acts that any of the villains do. Hence why she earns being given a chance to be the guardian. But also, everything else in this blog is why someone who could finally shake things up like Anne and do what the Guardian was starting to consider impossible is given another blink in its lifetime to hone themselves just a little more.
Because none of these events actually mattered on the scale that a GOD like this views things. They don't function like regular characters but we're a lot better trained to treat characters as, well, based on people. Based on motivations and scale that we can understand. On morality that sees even a single life as wrong, not requiring BILLIONS for you to even register.
It's actually what makes the Guardian feel more like a critique of a Christian God than the Titan literally ever could. He is an absentee figure who set everything in motion. Who claims moral superiority while letting the world burn. People question their faith in the face of tragedy for a reason because if God is good, how can he allow such abhorrently wrong things to happen? And hence why the response of "God works in mysterious ways," is used to justify it. To make it feel like rather than a fuck up on his part, a miscalculation he doesn't bother to fix, that it is all part of his machinations.
The Guardian instead goes "WHOOPS! Not doing that again! Woo boy, if I had a boss, I'd definitely be getting a stern talking to during this MILLENIA'S performance review." He is almost disturbingly honest in his talk with Anne like that. To admit that despite being all powerful, that doesn't mean he's going to always make the right choice. Which, you know, if kind of on brand for Amphibia. Anne didn't always make the right choice. Andrias almost never made the right choice. Marcy made all the right choices except for her first one. Sasha thought she was making the right choices. Hop Pop when he ends up accidentally mind controlling people thinks he's making a harmless choice that won't have consequences.
Because like everyone in Amphibia, the Guardian is also terrifyingly human. But do you know what proves why HE'S the Guardian and almost no one else in the story?
He never took those choices away from everyone. They were allowed to make their mistakes. He did not admonish, he did not punish. He did judge but in that judgement, allowed to be themselves and reveal who they were. He only took the power away when someone finally proved the base hypothesis possible. That someone might EVER choose the morally right thing with the stones and put everyone else, good, bad, neutral, etc. before them and use them to stop annihilation, not for greed and self interest.
To call him the true villain of Amphibia feels like missing the point because of that. Because the Guardian is someone who screwed up but is still morally better than almost any of the villains. If the villains didn't like their job after all, they'd FORCE someone else to do it. They wouldn't have listened to Anne when she said no. They wouldn't decide to try in another couple decades for a second interview and hope that goes well. They would have simply made the choice for her because they no longer wanted this and wouldn't care about her free will. Anne isn't under contract to take it when she dies after all. She'll just wake up with the Guardian then... That's probably it. The Guardian is left bored and having to figure out a new way to find a successor, but with a few more lessons on how to do it right this time.
There is a reason I call the ending of Amphibia the PERFECT ending for this story. Not that it is perfect, the last episode's pacing is a bit wonky, but that an altered version of it would still include every element and plot beat that this finale did. And that includes the Guardian. I will leave the choice up to you for if you agree or not.

Two thoughts:
First; even with their plans for retirement foiled, do you think The Cosmic Guardian would take advantage of Anne and her friends' status as players to delegate some of his duties by making them admins of Earth or Amphibia or some surrounding worlds?
Second; within the Hermitphibia AU, do you think it would it be too lore breaking/plot breaking for Valeriana to be a player, one of Amphibia's very few and and in some way the a moderator/admin of Amphibia, even if one that doesn't have much of a presence what with her boss playing a long con to pawn of their job on a theoretical future thirteen year old? I had an idea I may expand on in the reblogs to this ask regarding her life depending on your thoughts on this.
First thought: I imagine Anne - no matter the context - does speak to the Guardian like in canon. And despite her burgeoning "player" status, the Guardian still tries to make the offer of succeeding them. Similar to canon, Anne turns it down, though here this causes the Guardian to reluctantly admit their intentions had already gone off the rails in that regard.
So yes, they do float the idea of adminhood. Strictly speaking its not something they can explictly bestow, but the trio's Calamity powers are self sustaining now thanks to their "player" nature, & the Guardian could nudge that in the right direction to eventually grant true admin powers (really, anybody could be an admin, but there's some that are a cut above the rest).
However, Xisuma (who's also there), objects. Its not fair to put that sort of responsibility on a kid, even if that kid is Anne, Sasha or Marcy. And after a second to mull it over admin-to-deity, the Guardian agrees.
Potential adminhood/guardianship of Earth/Amphibia fills the same position the offer of godhood does to Anne in canon. It has a pin put in it til she, Sasha & Marcy are good & ready.
And with the endless life & opportunities being a "player" offers, even the Guardian has to reluctantly admit it wouldn't be fair to drop that on them, & that the deity might have to find another candidate.
Second thought: Valeriana's not a player nor the admin of Amphibia (Amphibia doesn't have a proper admin, the Guardian effecively filling the role), but in counter to that she's obviously not a normal Amphibian either, being a spirit & all.
So maybe she's something in-between. Not a true player due to never having crossed whatever threshold's required, but empowered enough as an agent of the Guardian - not that she necessarily approves of their desire to pass their role to a kid - to have a lot of sway that makes her seem similar, even if the Hermits still outclass her massively on a point-to-point basis.
So in short, its a "yes and no" situation, & i'd be interested to hear what ideas you have on the subject. :)

Things Get Better?: LGBTQ Representation in Animation in 2022 [Part 4]
Continued from part 3
youtube
While some shows with LGBTQ characters, have ended (Kid Cosmic and Amphibia), were cancelled (Q-Force), or won't be renewed (Dead End, gen:LOCK, and High Guardian Spice), indie animation has continued to shine. Some argued that people shouldn't look to Disney for queer representation in animation, that there may be a decline of superhero shows where many queer characters are, and noted a limited number of out TV stars out there. Although by midway through the year LGBTQ representation looked grim, due to what I've mentioned earlier, indie animations made clear that queerness is normal, just as it should be in real life.
Reprinted from Pop Culture Maniacs and Wayback Machine. This was the nineteenth article I wrote for Pop Culture Maniacs. This post was originally published on January 16, 2023.
None of these indie animations would even be recognized by GLAAD, which recently promoted the animated series Chicago Party Aunt, and animated films, [5] and with their nominees for the GLAAD Media Award, blogposts, and annual reports, nor by queer feminist magazines like Autostraddle, a queer feminist magazine. Instead, they have been recognized by fans and supporters. This includes those such as Helluva Boss, Ollie & Scoops, Eddsworld, a new season of Hazbin Hotel in development, along with others in development like The Descendants, Wild Card, Far Fetched, and Indigo, to name a few.
In the year ahead, there are bound to be more LGBTQ series, with the premiere of the yuri series The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady in January, the second season of D4DJ in January, the new series Yuri Is My Job! in April, and the new season of Birdie Wing, also in April. Another yuri series, I'm in Love with the Villainess is also set to air this year, while the sci-fi yuri manga, Hoshikuzu Telepath, is in development. This is coupled with continued release of yuri manga, visual novels, and the planned release of Love Live! anime spinoffs Nijiyon Animation and Genjitsu no Yohane: Sunshine in the Mirror. Both will likely have yuri subtext in line with other Love Live! anime series, which only have women as characters. There are indications that anime adaptations of Hikikomari Kyuuketsuki no Monmon aka The Vexations of a Shut-In Vampire Princess, Whisper Me A Love Song, Young Ladies Don't Play Fighting Games, and Vampeerz may be premiering this year.
Despite these positives, I worry that LGBTQ representation in animation, this year, may wane, in line with declining representation in film. For Western animation, what shows can fill the void left by The Owl House, Amphibia, Kid Cosmic, Dead End, gen:LOCK, High Guardian Spice, or even Q-Force? Its hard to know if existing series can fill that gap. In anime, there is more possibilities, due to the aforementioned yuri series, and any possible yaoi (boy's love) series.
However, there is some hope for representation in Western animation. The next season of The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder is coming in February, along with Ark: The Animated Series which features a lesbian protagonist, the animated series Princess Power and Velma in January, and the Nimona animated film in the summer. New seasons of Witch from Mercury, Arcane, Star Trek: Lower Decks, The Great North, Invincible, The Ghost and Molly McGee, and Disenchantment may premiere. The pilot episode of S.A.L.E.M.: The Secret Archive of Legends, Enchantments, and Monsters or the film which precedes the Lumberjanes series might air.
There might be new information about an animated series set after The Legend of Korra, which had two bisexual protagonists (Asami and Korra), which will focus on an unnamed earthbender, a film centered around Korra said to be released in 2026. There might be LGBTQ characters in Kiff, Hailey's On It!, and Iwájú, which are scheduled to begin airing this year, or those in future series such as Primos, Moana, Tiana, and Iyanu: Child of Wonder.
Animation may continue to be in a bit of a rough patch and more may flock to indie animation in hopes of finding an alternative to the studio system. That is what can be easily predicted for this year.

[5]  Strange World featured a gay couple: Ethan Clade and Diazo. In 2022, there were been bisexual and lesbian characters in Catwoman (specifically Catwoman and Batwoman), queer characters in Turning Red (Priya Mangal), a lesbian woman in Lightyear (Alisha Hawthorne), along with lesbian women in DC League of Super-Pets (Nancy), and Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo! (Velma Dinkley and Coco Diablo).

Amphibia Au where Anne accepts the Guardian’s offer, but instead of becoming some cosmic deity detached from reality and burdened to view the world from afar, the Guardian just lets her go back to Earth.
The reason for this is that the Guardian and Anne reach a compromise. For the next 70ish years (approximately the length of Anne’s lifespan if she stayed mortal), Anne will be tutored by the Guardian. They’ll teach her how to properly be a cosmic deity.
Meanwhile, since Anne is still young, she can also continue to interact with mortals/earth to gain humility and respect for life etc etc, all good traits for a god to have. Despite being able to tap into eldritch secrets of the universe she probably limits her power use on Earth since she wants to enjoy her mortal life as long as she can. Plus, it feels like cheating haha.
The side effect of this is that Anne is still super powerful, sort of being a weaker version of the Guardian, and as such is able to open portals between Earth and Amphibia whenever she wants.

i’d do anything (to see you again)
Tumblr media
the guardian pays anne a visit
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
this is part of a series called what makes it's way back. it basically just explores all the different ways anne and the plantars could have stayed together/ seen each other again.
this is one of the more realistic ones, that fits better with canon. actually, this could totally happen in canon.
enjoy! reblogs are appreciated :)
"Good night, guys!" Anne smiles at her two friends, filled with joy that they're together again.
"Night, Anne!"
She watches them settle down into the spare room in her apartment.
Then, walks into her own bedroom. The day had been almost perfect. She, Sasha, and Marcy had gone around LA, visiting spots that had been childhood favorites.
And it was almost her birthday.
But it wasn't totally perfect.
Anne hadn't had a perfect day in exactly 10 years.
She hopes he was thinking of her too. The silly little frog boy that she hasn't seen in a decade.
And she won't see him for decades to come. Maybe, when she dies, there’ll be an afterlife where they can meet again. If a cosmic deity can exist, anything was possible.
But that’s only a maybe...
Tears sting at Anne's eyes, and she tries to clear them away by reminiscing her and Sprig's adventures.
Her memory's fuzzy, but there were some things she will never forget.
And so then, Anne falls asleep, dreaming about being chased by a giant mantis...
...into a giant galaxy.
A familiar face peered at her.
"Cat Guardian? Are you real or is this a dream?" Anne wonders aloud. The "Guardian", who's in their Domino form, instead-of-the-giant-feline-with-the-wings-and-gem-eyes thing, smiles.
"Oh, this is definitely real. Listen, Anne. A days weeks ago, there a mishap in the Boiling Isles. Took me ages to clean it up, so I took a long nap. And when I woke up, I remembered you."
"Uh, okay? I don't get it..." Anne says.
"I need you to tell me whether you're going to accept my offer to be the next Guardian or not, after you live your life, of course. Please kid, I can't do this anymore. Because if you say no, I'm going to have to start searching for someone else."
Anne sighs. "Listen, I've thought about this. And your job just doesn't seem very appealing to me. Sitting alone for an eternity, thinking of all the things I couldn't do and all the regrets I have...it's just not for me."
The Guardian looks panicked. "What if I offer you something? Anything you want. I'm really desperate."
Anne doesn't need to think twice. "I'll do it, if you give me the calamity stones."
"The stones? No, no, no. Sorry, but that I can't do. I don't want them falling into the wrong hands again? Do you know what happened when you left Amphibia? I had to create another moon, so that the tides would work properly. Wouldn't you rather have Sasha and Marcy ask you out or something?"
Anne blushes furiously, but then her face turns serious. "Absolutely not. I wouldn't be able to live with myself for a thousand more years knowing that I didn't push hard enough to see them again."
"But, Anne...I can't do it. It's too big of a mess to clean up if-"
"Then I guess you better start searching."
The Guardian sighs. They know they'll never find someone as good as Anne. "Fine. But if anything happens-"
"WAIT, REALLY? THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!" Tears flow openly out of Anne's eyes, and she grabs the Guardian tight.
They don't resist.
"No, thank you. Now go, live your life to it's fullest, with all of your family."
Anne smiles a smile so big, it could be glowing. "See you in 68 years, buddy."
"See ya, Anne. Or should I say, Guardi-Anne?"
The girl groans, and is suddenly warped back to the real world, waking up with her heart hammering.
And then her heart sinks, as she realizes, the Guardian never actually gave her the stones.
Of course it was just a dream.
But then, the miracle of miracles.
Anne feels a slight weight in her pockets. Could it be?
She pulls a note out, reading: "Use them wisely! :)" And attached to the note are three Calamity rings.
One for each of the girls.
And before she knows it, Anne is crying again. She clasps the rings in her hands and then hold them close to her heart.
She doesn't know how to use them, but soon figures that you have to twist the stone twice. A glowing blue portal appears in front of Anne.
She'll go through in the morning.
This was real this was real this was real-
"You were right, Hop Pop. Family always finds each other.

Just watched the Amphibia Finale, and my theocidal mind-gears began a-spinnin’. Here’s my first ever piece of fanfic, which I may illustrate when I get a minute.
It’s your tenth birthday today.
You never phrase it like that outside your own head, not even as a joke. It’d raise questions. Questions you can’t answer, and worse, a few that you can.
(You do tell people you’ve seen the face of god, though, because it’s funny, and because if they press further you get to tell them god is a cat, and it gets to stay one of those offbeat jokes the Frog Lady makes sometimes at lunch.)
You’ve never told anyone the whole story. The sum total of your fear. Your friends know the most, because they lived it, like you, with you, and both of them understand, in their own way, what it looks like when someone is playing games with human lives. They don’t pry, but you think they understand.
But you left before you had the chance to talk it out in detail to the Plantars. And there was no percentage in letting your parents know. You left in one piece, and you came back in one piece, and as far as they’re concerned it’s a contiguous piece. As far as they’re concerned you had a close call or two. You nearly died. Nearly. And most nights you can pretend the same.
You sometimes wonder if God made a mistake, picking someone who knows how it feels to be manipulated. Someone who spent six long months prying gentle masks off of monsters. You wonder if she made a mistake, using a winnowing process that made you really look power in the eye, a process that taught you the pain and loss beyond measure that comes with not questioning the intent behind that power in time.
Is it still a mistake, when God makes it? When one of the ants is on to you?
Can all errors be drowned out in a swell of power?
You know what happens to you when you die. Not to people in general. Yourself specifically. You’ll be some kind of hero. Some kind of guardian. Defending the multiverse against… what, exactly? Andrias? The Core?
( Now how did they come about, again?)
You think about one of the two times you know God involved itself directly.
You think about all the damage done, in the name of seeing whether damage would be done. You think about the rise and fall of empires, the ruination of worlds, the extinction of species and cultures, twined round and round what amounts to a cosmic HR decision.
And you think about a deal God made with you, with a brain God gave you seconds beforehand.
You ask yourself, If I was god, would I sink in all that time and power and loss of life, only to produce a candidate who could still say no?
You wonder how many times you woke up in that house, before God heard an answer that it liked.
And every year, on your birthday, you think about God. You think about everything that could be happening, everything you were whisked away from through a one-way door before you had a chance to ask questions, and you pray to anything else that’s listening that you were presented with the truth of things.
You hope that it’s just tired. You hope that it’s just clueless, just out of touch, just hokey, just thoughtless. You hope that it’s lonely, that it’s all a problem of perspective. Because you could fix that, sixty-eight years from today, if you had to. You understand all of that, how to work through it, how to bridge it, every angle of attack, every point of interpersonal collapse, you lived it, or you remember living it, and you carry it forward with you, to wield against whatever comes next.
After all, it’s what you were made to do.

The Heroes of Amphibia
(In honor of the series finale I wrote a poem :3 )
Three stones that shine like stars
Brought three girls from beyond
To save the world of Amphibia
From a horrible threat.
A kind soul with a pure heart
Who learned kindness, family and friendship
A wild rebel with immense strength and sass
Learned what it truly meant to be a true friend
An otaku gal with a sharp mind
Learned what friendship truly meant.
Through the trials and obstacles
Each one faced in the realms they found themselves in
Brought back together, but alas torn apart
By an ancient secret brought to light by the Newt King
The heart thrown back to her world
While the two were left behind as chaos rose.
The mind controlled by the Core
The strength who rallied a rebellion
The heart that found a way back
With her frog family to come to her friends’ aid.
Anne and Sasha rallied the troops
To stop Andrias invasion once and for all
Only to fall prey to Darcy’s trap
And learn their friend was under their control.
Earth was invaded
All hope seemed lost
But a tiny spark within the heart
Brought forth the Lotus in full bloom
K-Pop aiding in their fight
To bring forth their full potential.
The king has fallen
The Core disconnected
The girls reunited
Returned to Amphibia
To declare the King’s defeat.
But all is not well
The moon is falling
Thus the girls summon forth
The power within the stones
To take up the fight.
Through their efforts
They almost succeed
But the moon was still falling
A choice must be made.
The heart offered to gather the stones
To unleash the ultimate power
That’ll disperse the threat
But at a cost.
The power of the heart
Dispersed the moon
Only to shatter like leaves
Taken from her loved ones.
But as they moan their loss
The Cosmic Guardian had a revelation
He brought life back to the heart
Returned her to where she truly belonged.
Life restored
Peace brought forth
With shards in hand
It was time to say farewell.
Though they will miss their amphibian friends
In their hearts they will never be apart
Not in this world or another
Nor time and space
Love, friendship and family
Transcends the impossible.
Their heroics will never be forgotten
Their lessons will be written
Their kindness shared by all
Their courage stirs the souls
Their minds forever learning.
It has been quite a journey
But quite a heartwarming and heroic story
That’ll go down in history for centuries
Of the three girls that changed their world
What once was broken, now made whole
Amphibia reunited at long last.

I was thinking through The Jhost in context of how we could make it work in the hermitphibia au and finally did but it comes with a major unintended side effect of having the hermits cut off from Divine powers
What I have right not is Joe is like... the opposite of a god. She loses 'reality' with an increase of unresolved 'belief' (in this case refering to the force of consciousness behind Player Actualization) until they become Beetlejhost as the result of a cosmic counterweight being undone when that unreality reaches critical mass.
Because of this, he usually burns through 'belief' continuously to prevent that from becoming a problem, by pushing her ghost form past what their Actualization can otherwise sustain with his current amount of unresolved 'belief.'
With the lockout, she can't do that. That belief is either not reaching her or suppressed and he cannot draw it out, save for in small amounts.
The problem becomes glaring the first time Joe is near a partial stone activation and has a sudden dramatic drop in tangability. They arrange to remain within the vicinity of Stress's tests of the recharged gems to have a chance to burn off belief more efficiently.
Reasons for Joe not wanting to become Beetlejhost could range from preferences to actual consequences should it happen, but at least partially may be assumed (headcanoned) to be at least part of the reason Super Hostile happened. Not because of anything Joe did, moreso because he was potentially perceived as a threat or a violation of what those gods considered orderly.
Joe functioning in a manner that turns the rules of actualisation on their head yet somehow still exists in relation to them - albeit begrudgingly, if the gods' Super Hostile reaction's anything to go by, as that's the pre-AU consequence I'm running with - feels fitting with how they present themselves.
Beetlejhost specifically is less a risk to others and more a desperate measure while they're in Amphibia as Joe can't affect that form in the manner he normally would. Their burn cycle being interrupted by the Guardian's lockout makes both keeping "belief" down & achieving that form when she actually wants to kind of difficult.
It's also an interesting & fun interpretation of the IRL idea that they become a ghost when they get paid enough, which is hilarious but I wouldn't know how to fit into this AU in a more literal sense.
Then again its Joe, so would it really need to fit? :P
