re: Fantasy Recs
riseoftherose said: If you don’t mind a slightly younger aimed author, I still enjoy a series I first read as a kid, always thought it deserved more rep. The Land of
Sorry friend, it looks like your rec got cut off a bit there.
msprufrock said: Also aimed slightly younger, but I really enjoyed Akata Witch (and the sequel Akata Warrior) by Nnedi Okorafor. It’s a YA fantasy series set in Nigeria
Oh nice. Sounds like fun. Scarlet Odyssey is also set in a very Africa-like world, really loved that.
gerundsandcoffee said: I liked Uprooted by Naomi Novik. It’s a stand alone original but heavily rooted in Eastern European folklore.
I think I might have read that one. It sounds familiar. I’ll have to look again. Thanks!
solysgoldensun said: The Invisible Library series by Genevieve Cogman is pretty fun, involving dragons, fae, and librarians (oh my!) in a multiverse semi-portal fantasy deal with steam punk elements.
Oh nice. I’ve got a little bit of a weakness for steampunkish-ness. (oh, bonus, the first book was only $2.99. I picked it up. thanks!)
anomaly-nerd said: The Goblin Emperor by Katherine Addison is my current favorite. It’s a little plot heavy but the worldbuilding is fantastic and the protagonist is impossible not to love
I don’t mind plot-heavy if I feel like it’s going somewhere. Love good worldbuilding, though. So great.
Anonymous said: I highly recommend Temeraire. That series was amazing. It's 9 books, complete storyline that begins in Napoleonic Wars era Europe and then expands into almost every continent. It was just mwah *chef's kiss*. The lead characters (one human, one dragon) are both absolutely adorkable and I thoroughly enjoyed every chapter. There are serious matters and some dark chapters, but it's a very optimistic series overall, not grimdark in the least.
Oh, thank you for reminding me of that one! I have the first one, I think I read it when it came out, but I never followed up on the rest of the series.
emilise284 said: any/all of Diana Wynne Jones’s works: Howl’s Moving Castle, Dogsbody, and Fire and Hemlock are among my favorites.
Robin McKinley is also gr9, I especially love Pegasus and Chalice
if you’re looking for recent fantasy Gideon the Ninth (and sequel, Harrow the Ninth) by Tamsyn Muir are GREAT fun and very gay (but also maybe edging a lil further towards grimdark than you’re in the mood for rn)
Cool. Thank you!
backwardsandinhighheels said: For urban fantasy, I’ve really enjoyed the Guild Codex series by Annette Marie - funny with found family vibes and slooow burn romances, and the heroine of Spellbound is a normal human girl in a magic guild which gives me serious Darcy vibes
That sounds like a lot of fun. Thanks. (score, the first one is $3.99 and has Margarita in the title. Can’t go wrong there. I grabbed it.)
lady-of-luthien said: The first fantasy author I really got into was Tamora Pierce. She writes a lot of YA stuff. Song of the Lioness, The Immortals, and Protector of the Small series. All awesome.
Oh yes, I read some of those. Definitely fun.
furyleika said: Absolutely second Robin McKinley, particularly The Blue Sword and The Hero and the Crown. Also Tamora Pierce. If you don’t mind younger aimed, my absolute favorites of all time are Patricia C. Wrede’s Enchanted Forest Chronicles. Anne McCaffrey’s Pern novels straddle the fantasy/sci-fi line depending where in the timeline you’re reading. The Harper Hall series is a great starting point.
I also really like Garth Nix’s Old Kingdom series. They may be closer to grim than not, but things turn out okay! Way less depressing than GRRM. I liked Holmberg’s Paper Magician series if you haven’t read that from her.
Swordheart from T. Kingfisher is awesome and funny and romantic. It says it’s in the same series as something else of hers, but I didn’t read those and enjoyed it anyways. Okay, I’ll stop. (Oh wait! Have you read Neil Gaiman’s stuff? I like almost all of it.)
Oh, I’ve totally read Anne McCaffrey, very into Pern back in ye olden tymes.
I have the Paper Magician, but I haven’t read it yet. I just finished Spellbreaker/Spellmaker and I wanted to try somebody else first.
T. Kingfisher sounds familiar, but I don’t recognize any of the titles (maybe I read Clockwork Boys, that sounds really familiar. Or I started to read it and got distracted and forgot -- this happens). I will check out Swordheart.
Garth Nix sounds familiar, too (I am bad with names, so this happens a lot, too). I’ll check out the first one. Thanks!
And, yes, I’ve read all the Neil Gaiman things lol.
owl-librarian said: Echoing Diana Wynne Jones, Tamora Pierce, and Garth Nix rec’s. I also recently reread a bunch of Patricia C Wrede books, which are delightful. If J/YA isn’t your jam, try Mercedes Lackey; HIGHLY prolific fantasy writer. Some of her stuff is a little dated now, but gosh a lot of it is still awesome. I particularly like her Arrows of the Queen trilogy.
Oh, yes, definitely I’ve ready Mercedes Lackey. Back in ye olden days with Anne McCaffrey and Terry Brooks (I was very into the Shannara books in high school).
gothfirefaerie said: If you like amazing world building and word porn I can not recommend Patricia a McKillip enough! My favorites are alphabet of thorn, fantastic beasts of eld and ombria in shadow. Also great for world building is Michelle Sagara and her chronicles of elantra but while I wouldn’t call them grimdark they are heavy.
Those sound fun. Thank you. Love worldbuilding.
owl-librarian said: Have you done any Terry Pratchett? He’s the right kind of fantasy for me, definitely not too heavy “high fantasy” - and full of real characters and great humor! If you are intimidated by his Oeuvre start with “Guards! Guards!” or “The Wee Free Men”
Oh yes, absolutely. Great fun.
owl-librarian said: I also highly suggest the Bordertown books edited by Ellen Datlow and Terri Windling; it was a shared world created back in the 80s for authors to play in - there are several short story collections and a couple of novels set in this town that is the border between our world and faerie. It was revived in the 2010s with Ellen and Holly Black in another short story collection.
That sounds familiar, but I don’t think I ever read any of it. Thank you, I’ll check it out.
cathsith said: @sarahreesbrennan In Other Lands is *amazing* and lots of fun and the furthest thing from grim!dark that I can think of
Awesome. Thank you.
lover-of-the-starkindler said: *nods along for most of the recs and takes notes of the others* Summers at Castle Auburn by Sharon Shinn is good; Perilous Gard by Elizabeth Marie Pope is a Tam Lin retelling set in Elizabethan England and is amazing; Woodwalker by Emily B. Sweet, thank you.
Thanks everybody I will check out all of your lovely recs.

Rules: Thank the blogger that nominated you. Answer the 11 questions the blogger asked you. Nominate 11 bloggers. Ask your nominees 11 questions. Notify your 11 nominees.
This was fun! I only hope my questions are half as good as @storyhole's. Thanks for the tag btw.
What inspires you to work on writing? Music sometimes gets me in the mood, but not always. Listening to chatter, or watching my family just sit around can, in a weird way, inspire me to write. Pictures also inspire me on occasion.
Weirdest rabbit hole of research: Is there such a thing as a rabbit hole when you're researching? Lol. Probably that time where I was trying to figure out at what dropping height might make a landing in water fatal. At a certain speed, hitting water will feel like a cement wall, because you are going too fast for the water to get out of your way. . .anywho
Favorite trope: hmmmm. . . two characters acting like their 'together' but not? The fake relationship that naturally becomes a real relationship. Honestly, I have too many favorite tropes.
3 songs that embody the vibes of my WIP:
1. The Lighthouse Keeper by Sam Smith
2. The Impossible Dream by Josh Groban (Brave, too)
3. I Was Made For Loving You by Tori Kelly (feat. Ed Sheeran)
How do I perform combat with writer's block? I've never been much of a fighter, you know lol. Seriously though, I generally pick up a book instead and start reading. My imagination begins to run wild again, and I can 'feel' my story, so I write while it lasts, etcetera.
What place would I want to go to in my WIP? The ruins of Alondra's childhood home. Love the melancholy history feel of the place.
Would I date any of my characters? PLEEEASSSE, is this really a question? Duh! Of course I would
Who in my WIP is most comfortable at a party? The least comfortable? Dyan would be an awesome partier. Then I'd say Atlas would be least comfortable - though, Alondra is close to being like that
Who embodies "Be Gay, do crimes"? Idk actually
Who knows how to cook? Who doesn't? Alondra knows how to cook. Atlas does not.
The colors of my main characters? Alondra; dark blue, scarlet, gray, dusty-dark brown. Eoseph; pine green, yellow, blue, and chocolate.

Questions:
1. The best advice you'd have to offer for any writer? 2. Favorite songs, artists, genre, etc to listen to when writing? 3. How many WIPs do you have? 4. Are you emotionally attached to your characters? 5. Have you ever entered a piece of your writing in a contest? 6. Favorite book(s)? 7. What is your typical target reader (age, etc)? 8. Favorite trope of all time, no matter how cheesy? 9. Who in your WIP would tuck you in at night and kiss your forehead? 10. Who is the nerd, the muscle, the hero in your story? 11. Can you use your fingers to count all the things you like about your story? Or can you go far beyond the count of 10?

DA2: love’s literature
hold my hand
driving ticket
indie record (the books beside our bed)
jail
kurt vonnegut
tattoos
lesbian chemicals (ft. Jack Antonoff)
unicorn
The title of this album is based off the fact Dianna is a snobby literature gay. It is a lyric of “kurt vonnegut,” and the motif of literature being an important element of love is repeated in “indie record (the books beside our bed)” and “tattoos.” The title is thematically appropriate as well, as its songs chronicle grand love stories fit for romantic literature.
“hold my hand” is an Achele song. The title is based on the fact that they always held hands suring “Someone to Love” during the Glee Tour. The song starts out with the dramatic ascending “Can” that is the opening note of “Someone to Love,” but the sound comes crashing down into a cacophony (think sort of like the beginning of “closure,” but with more chaos and more Freddie Mercury vibes). It turns into a Avril Lavigne-style petty break up song about Lea.
“driving ticket” is an Achele song. It uses driving tickets as an extended metaphor for relationship issues. One of the lryics is “And you always made fun of me because gays can’t drive / Guess I was too happy for you.” (After the release of the album, Dianna tweets that the “gays” in this lyric refers to happy people, not fruitcakes.) There’s also the lyric saying that in another life, Dianna would have crashed her car just to stop her pronoun-less love interest’s wedding; this is a reference to how Quinn got in a car crash and it stopped Rachel’s wedding in Glee. I chose the title for this song based on that Glee car crash and based on the fact that Dianna gets so many driver’s tickets in real life, haha.
“indie record (the books beside our bed)” is a Taylor song. It’s a bubblegum pop song with a somewhat ironic tone (think WANGBT meets “Stay Stay Stay”), but the bridge is intensely dramatic (sort of like the bridge of “Driver’s License” by Olivia Rodrigo). At one point in the bridge, she sings “You sung me a party / You wrote me a warm sweater.” This line confirms that 1989 (party) and “cardigan” (warm sweater) are about Dianna. The song is reminiscing on their relationship in a way that could be read as petty but is actually more so mournful (as Dianna believes that the greatness of that relationship was only possible because of their youthful infatuation, so is such a great relationship ever possible again? so like she’s sort of mourning the loss of her youth—to both time and closeting—as well). The title is a reference to WANGBT (even though I think it’s about Liz), and the part of the title that is in parenthesis is a reference to “Paper Rings” (even though I think it’s about Joe).
“jail” is an anti-Karlie song. I have this headcanon that Taylor wrote most of YAIL about Dianna but ended up gifting the song to Karlie with that Instagram post (like how she gifted “Dress”—a Karlie song—to Joe with that bridge). Because of this, we can think of YAIL as a song that Karlie stole. Dianna sings about Karlie with that Other Woman trope, except throughout the song, who the other woman is (whether she’s Karlie or Dianna herself) becomes less and less clear. In the chorus, Dianna refers to the other woman as “the crook,” which calls back to “it’s time to go.” She follows up that moniker with the statement that the crook must go to jail—but Dianna pronounces the J in “jail” very weirdly, so it almost sounds like she’s singing the word “YAIL.” In the bridge of the song, Dianna belts “143 / Remember those days,” which is what she tweeted after the Kaylor road trip Vogue cover. The bridge feels a bit like “Getaway Car” in that it has a lot of driving references, like Karlie is stealing Taylor by whisking her away in a car.
“kurt vonnegut” is a jazzy/indie song, in the style of “Do You Want a Man” by The Vaccines. In the song, Dianna quotes a lot of classic literature in order to paint a picture of a grand, dramatic, failed love (Swiftgron). The chorus includes the phrase “love’s literature” in an almost “New Year’s Day”-like reference to how their love is as grand as literature’s great love stories, but also somehow better, so don’t read the last page (aka, don’t let the story come to an end). That one line cautioning about the story coming to an end gives the song a little bit of a foreboding mood if you listen carefully, and that’s how we know that it’s a break up song and not a love song for Filippo. Notably, Dianna sings the lyric “so it goes,” which is based on a Kurt Vonnegut novel. What’s interesting about this is that out of all the authors whose work Dianna referenced in the song, she chose Kurt Vonnegut’s name as the title for this song. Tumblr sapphics take this to mean that “so it goes” has a special significance—specifically, that Taylor’s song “So It Goes…” is about Dianna.
“tattoos” is a Taylor song. It wants to be a petty break up song, but there’s too much emotion behind it to stay petty; as a result, it’s raw and full of hurt. Dianna wants this to just be about the tattoos, wants to just cuss Taylor out for putting her tattoo as a lyric in “Wonderland,” but she can’t help but pour so much more into this song—because her resentment for what happened to Swiftgron is so much stronger than just resenting that she had to contact a tattoo removal service. This fact becomes clear in a lyric in which Dianna refers to Taylor’s love as a tattoo, permanently seared onto her skin like a scar or a scarlet letter. (This The Scarlet Letter reference is another reason why I chose love’s literature as the title of this album.)
“lesbian chemicals (ft. Jack Antonoff)” is the most unhinged song on the album. The story behind this title is that Jack is a bit weird and has this almost obsession with lesbians. In one interview, he referred to himself as a straight man with lesbian chemicals because he loves like a lesbian loves. Anyways, the song starts off with the sounds of a piano being runed (because of that one time when we thought Dianna posted an Instagram story of Jack tuning her piano, lol). The song is a bit slower but still has that definite Jack Antonoff feel to it. Dianna sings about how she loves the pronoun-less subject like a lesbian would: she treasures them, admires how soft and perfect and lovable they are, etc. It’s almost like “Dress” in that it’s so undeniably gay in its lyrical content. Jack has backup vocals. After the album’s release, Dianna tweets that this song was Jack’s idea. It’s a clear no-homo-ing. She states that she feels similarly to how Jack felt when he gave that quote—that she’s a straight woman who just so happens to have lesbian chemicals and love like a lesbian would.
“unicorn” is an ode to the Blondterage. The title is a reference to Molly’s birthday post for Dianna (which is actually the cover of the album) in which she references riding Dianna, calls Dianna a unicorn (which has obvious sexual implications), etc. The song is a targeted attack on all Dolly shippers because it’s like “22” in that Dianna tries to pass it off as a I Love My Gal Pals song, but in reality, it’s secretly a song about longing. Sonically, “unicorn” is reminiscent of “Make Me Feel” by Janelle Monáe.

Beautiful in the moonlight
They all sit around the bonfire, singing the usual camp half blood songs, feeling at home. Nico sits at a log towards the back of the circle, rubbing his palms together to keep from feeling cold. Will, sitting in the front row, glances behind at him to see him gazing up at the starry night sky, hands burrowing into his jean’s pockets. He wasn’t even wearing a jacket, just a thin black t-shirt and skinny jeans. Will was wearing an orange camp hoodie pulled over a full-sleeved t-shirt and since he was right in front of the fire, he was actually starting to feel a little too warm.
Nico looked down from the sky, bringing his eyes back to the fire, and he notices Will’s eyes on him. He looks back at him and Will allows himself one moment to stare into his eyes before moving his eyes around, looking anywhere but at Nico. He’d become friends with the boy after the battle, gaining his trust over months working together in the infirmary. But recently, they’d both been acting different around each other. Nico’s eyes lingering too long on Will, Will’s cheeks turning pink every time their hands would brush against each other, and both of them getting flustered when they’d say something they thought was wrong in a conversation. Will had a massive crush on Nico ever since the day of the battle but he thought his feelings would never be reciprocated, even though he knew Nico was gay. Nico on the other hand, had fallen for the boy as he spent more time with him, and the last few weeks it had gotten really hard not to kiss him every time he flashed that bright, Apollo-worthy smile at him. He was almost definite that Will would never like him because Will had never mentioned liking guys to him before. The only reason he was still hanging on to hope is because he noticed Will’s cheeks would turn scarlet red almost every time Nico spoke to him.
Everyone around the campfire started singing a slower song and the mood was suddenly peaceful. Will took this as a chance to sneak towards the back and he plopped down next to Nico. His messy raven-black hair had grown so long it almost covered his eyebrows, his eyes glinting as he looked at the bonfire. “Why don’t you ever come sit in front with us?” Will whispers to Nico. He turns his head towards Will and answers “I’m fine here. You can go back if you want,”. “Not if you won’t come with me. Also, you look like you’re going to freeze to death back here, take this,” Will says, pulling his hoodie over his head and handing it to Nico. “Will, put it back on, you’re going to feel cold,” Nico demanded. “No, I’m fine Nico, seriously. I’ve been sitting right next to the fire all night,” Will counters, and Nico begrudgingly pulls Will’s hoodie on. He’s trying hard not to contain his excitement as he inhales deeply, smelling the faint Will scent that never goes away, like something warm and cozy to sink into. It’s a size or two big, because Will had gained more muscle since the war, practicing both archery and sword fighting. Nico had been the one training Will to swordfight and much to Nico’s surprise, Will would often take his shirt off, beads of sweat glinting on his skin. He snapped out of his thoughts bringing his eyes back up to Will’s face, telling himself to stop thinking about it. Will sat still next to Nico and though it was big for him, he thought he looked adorable in it, shoving his hands into the pocket, grasping for warmth. Nico huffed out a breath of cold air and Will realised he’d been staring at the boy so he looked away, flustered. People had started to go back to their cabins and soon Nico and Will were among the last few left. Nico stood up, Will standing with him, and said “Well, uh, I should probably go to bed now, it’s getting late,”. “Oh okay, sure. I’ll walk you back to your cabin,” Will says, and starts strolling towards it before Nico can protest. They both walk slowly, side by side, shoes crushing the damp grass underneath them. There’s no sounds coming from the cabins around them, leaving them to their thoughts. Nico internally swooning, tried his best not to look at Will in his bright yellow tshirt. Will tries to do the same but fails. He looks at Nico walking beside him, the moonlight catching on his features. His cheekbones, traced with white light, his jawline sharp against his soft eyes. Nico finally looks up towards Will, catching him staring but this time Will doesn’t look away. He was going to do something about this crush because he didn’t think he could stand another second without Nico in his arms. His cheeks go a little rosy but he keeps his eyes on Nico. “Why are you looking at me like that? You’re always looking at me like that,” Nico questions, speaking softly. Will’s lips quirk up into a small smile and before he can talk himself out of it, he says, “Because you’re beautiful.”
Nico’s face turns a bright shade of crimson and he chuckles lightly before “accidentally” brushing the back of his hand against Will’s, a zap of heat on the cold night. Nico feels Will’s warm hand wrap around his, intertwining their fingers. They both look at their feet, trying to hide their smiles. Nico feels like he’s going to die that instant if Will doesn’t kiss him already so he decides to take matters into his own hands. They slow to a stop in front of the Hades cabin and Will reluctantly starts to pull his hand away from Nico’s. Before he knows it, Will’s face is being pulled towards Nico’s and their lips connect, Will’s warm ones against Nico’s cold. His hands reach down to wrap around Nico’s waist and he feels Nico’s arms coming up to run his hand through Will’s hair. It’s everything, too much but not enough all at once. They press their lips together gently, scared it’ll end too soon. A few seconds later, Will tests opening his mouth and is rewarded with Nico’s mouth opening against his. Nico tried to form some sort of thought in his head but all he can think is that Will mouth tastes like the s’mores they’d had at the campfire before his brain short circuits. He feels as if he’s going to faint any second as Will’s tongue brushes against his own. They both get so lost in the kiss, they forget to breathe, panting lightly as they pull apart. Nico’s soft brown eyes look up at Will’s startlingly blue ones and his rosy red lips curl up into a smile. Will leans his head down and rests his forehead against Nico’s, bringing his arms back down to hold Nico’s hands. After what feels like seconds but was probably several minutes pass by, they both reluctantly pull away from each other, eyes not leaving the other’s gaze. Neither of them can wipe the wide grins off their faces. Nico pulls the sleeves of his hoodie a little further down, wrapping his hands in them. “Can I keep it with me for now? It smells like you,” Nico says shyly. Will tries not to burst into flames right at that moment because Nico is just so adorable, and he responds gently “Of course. Good night, Nico.”. “‘Night Will,” Nico responds, walking backwards towards his cabin till they both break eye contact, forced to go their own ways.

blush, brick, cherry, ruby. i would ask scarlet but soph already took it >:(
yeah lmao Gotta ask scarlet.....thankyou Also lol i appreciate the asks
blush: reading or writing?
reading.....haven’t done much of that from a Book lately. have been considering rereading a science-book-for-nonscientists or Walden And Crap* (*other writings is what it actually says) is sitting over there but it’s like, i’m not in the mood thoreau. simple life, i got it,
brick: writing or drawing?
i mean drawing lmao......i don’t Dislike writing and with as slow as i am w/ anything Sequential i appreciate how much more feasible it is to convey some ideas via writing them like Thank You, Writing, but then also i have Less Experience writing so like, i have less of an established “process” (not to say my “””process””” with drawing isn’t just [hot mess]) and less of an ability to kinda keep at it / muscle through, i.e. i Like to finish drawing stuff in one sitting ideally but Can pick it back up, whereas it feels like if Writing isn’t something i like, completed 80%+ of in one go i just won’t finish it........but then again the main problem w/ writing that i have is that thx to all that [i haven’t spent nearly as much time writing for kicks and getting that practice in] i’m just Unlikely to finish anything lmao. see: me not finishing anything ever. rip. also i tend to like not flesh out an Idea enough to know how to write it exactly. brain might be “””creative””” in that yeah i draw and Sometime write (or try to) and even other things considered Artistic but i’m not ~original~ ok
cherry: what genre do you like to watch when sick?
extremely knock on wood but i don’t really tend 2 get sick, i’ll like, kinda get colds and crap but that’s all i’ve had to deal with for eons........used to Never get headaches but now maybe every other month or so one Might come along for like a day and a half, i was having the fascinating experience of Nearby Hammering feeling like it had the potential to give me a headache too lmao, which is Also new, like i knew the concept of [some specific external issue can Give You Headache] but didn’t experience it......which is exciting for me i guess. all that happens is i feel sort of vaguely too shitty to do anything and try to sleep it off. i don’t have a go-to Genre like, for anything really, and not for when i’m sick. i just am out here still going “hm i wanna rewatch fury road” for no reason or any reason......can’t even more broadly say i have any Comfort movies or whatever. another Peak Interesting answer from me lmfao. n/a
ruby: what song did you last listen to? what’s your favourite lyric from it?
i’ve been podcasting for a Minute now lol so i think it was soph’s wasp song.....which, again, failure on my part for Only just now listening to it, yes i’m godawful at listening to music i intend to listen to Or at not forgetting about things but still, it’s a Smh at me on that one. now that i finally have though it was a multifaceted time where like, for example, i enjoyed hearing “we were in love we were in love palisades palisades” b/c i though of soph tagging stuff w that ft. Exclamation Points like hehe.......and then natch i was nodding solemnly re: it being expressly a song applied to Kleinsen, of course i enjoyed the whole bit “oh how i meant to tease him / oh how i meant no harm / touching his back with my hand i kiss him / i see the wasp on the length of my arm” like oh teasing him? meaning no harm? kissing your bff? ms. You’re Gay wasp? re: kleinsen that’s a [crying Yeah jpeg] from me......uhhh and then from the third, theoretically-not-associated-with-anything lyrical appreciation angle....well lmao i was going to say i like the “all of my powers day after day / i can tell you we swaggered and swayed” line but can i swear i’m not associating that w/ the Practiced Swagger Only The Deeply Insecure Can Truly Pull Off (there’s a would-be similar song title for you) line in the Libretto? i can’t......i like “i can tell you the telling gets old” but also i can’t pretend i know what that’s supposed to mean necessarily. “trusting things beyond mistake” nice, that’s gay shit.......also just liked the bit about the “i see a wasp with her wings outstretched”.........in true fashion i have no real answer / no real Favorite lmao here’s just some meandering commentary to be like again smh at me taking so long to finally open a freaking link in new tab lol..........will get on Essential Anthems quicker in the future u_u i failed you kleinsen wasp gang.....

To New Hytes (Group-fic) 5/? - Mac
AN: Meggie once again is an angel on this earth. Thank you my love for beta-ing this! You are the sweetest! <3
Summary: Nina is still reeling from her fuck up with Monet, Yvie’s joints are bad but Scarlet loves her anyway, Trixie’s sleep sechdule is ruined, and Brooke and Kameron reflect on their past.
Nina West was not good at this type of thing.
She was emotional as hell, sure. But explaining those emotions, dealing with them, not so much. She had always been a bit repressed. Her family had been uber-religious growing up, so being gay was kind of a no-go in her household. She went to church, sang the songs, did what she was supposed to do. Church had been a safe space for so long.
She didn’t have the usual falling out with religion that most people in her situation had. In fact, she had maybe leaned into it too much following the months of her coming out.
Luckily she had gotten through that stage pretty quickly.
She still had faith, still kept a Bible in her bedside table. Still sang the hymns to calm her nerves. Her faith hadn’t waned, it had just changed. She figured if all the other Christians could pick and choose passages to live by, Nina could too.
She had chosen to live by loving others as best she could.
But clearly she had messed this up somehow, because Monet wasn’t talking to her.
Monet was sitting in the back of the tour bus with Kameron and Blair talking quietly. Brooke was a row in front of them, turning around every now and then to say something.
Nina sat near the front with Vanessa and Dela, who were reassuring her that everything was going to be just fine. Well, assuring her as best they knew how to.
“I think I really fucked up guys.”
“No offense, chica, but you kinda did.”
“Vanjie!”
“Sorry! I just…” Vanessa sighed. “You know Monet, you had to know this coulda happened.”
“I did, I just… I just wanted it to be like the movies, you know? Where the main character makes the love interest jealous and that’s what prompts them to realize they’re in love.”
Vanessa nodded understandingly.
Dela did not. “Wait, you don’t understand why she’s mad, do you?”
“I was manipulative and selfish. I was trying to force her to make a move when she wasn’t ready.”
“Yes, and what else?”
Nina drew a blank.
Dela sighed. “She cares for you, I don’t know if she loves you, but she cares for you. You doing that, lying to her, well, it must have felt like you were dangling her feelings in front of her. Like you knew she had feelings for you and you were saying she couldn’t have you.”
“But she knows how I feel.”
“Does she? Cause if she did, wouldn’t you think she’d be sitting up here with you.”
Dela was right.
“Fuck.”
“Yeah.”
Yvie had always been strange. She didn’t mind that no one understood her. Couldn’t be bothered to care about their petty insults that reflected their own issues rather than hers. She didn’t mind that she was alone most of her life. People found her confrontational and erratic. She found herself brave and correct - most of the time.
Yvie was just herself.
She didn’t mind the others.
But sometimes, she did.
When they undermined her work or attacked her art. She knew she was strange and different and that scared people. And most of the time it didn’t bother her.
But Vanjie- Vanessa rather, had hit her where it hurt. Had attacked her art not because it was weird but because she couldn’t do it if it weren’t. Vanessa had said Yvie didn’t try to dance in any particular style because she couldn’t adhere to one. She was too sporadic, too ‘out there.’ She could never make it big dancing the way she did.
They both knew it wasn’t true, but it still stung.
Yvie had called her unlovable.
A low blow perhaps, but she was angry and sad.
Luckily they had Scarlet. The most forgiving woman in the world. She had brought them together.
The handshake had been a formality at first. The truce a false one until they decided to blow up at each other again.
Or at least, it had been.
Both Yvie and Vanessa were shocked when their mutual fake kindness turned into genuine friendship. Scarlet had smiled knowingly but held off making comments.
Yvie and Vanessa had gotten so close in fact that they sometimes did their pre-show together. They would sit in someone’s dressing room, usually Yvie’s, and laugh and talk and be late for their call times.
It was unexpected, but not unwelcome.
Yvie felt lucky to have a friend. Not that she hadn’t gotten along with the other girls, but Vanessa was different. She was so much like Yvie. They goteach other.
“You did a great job the other night. I swear I’ve never seen a crowd that hyped for a new girl.”
“Thanks. You didn’t look so bad yourself.” Vanessa winked.
Yvie laughed. “Thanks, sis.”
Yvie slid off her chair onto the floor to stretch. She began her usual routine of popping some of her joints, which sent Vanessa into a fit. “I know you can’t help it, but it’s so gross.”
Yvie was pulling her leg up and behind her head when she felt a sudden shooting pain.
It wasn’t the usual pain either, it was a pain that meant something was wrong.
When she tried to lower her leg back down, she couldn’t help but cry out.
Vanessa looked up from her phone, worry etched into her frown lines. “Yvie, what happened.”
“Fuck, fuck, shit. My hip it just- FUCK.”
Vanessa rushed over to Yvie’s side. “What do you need me to do? Call an ambulance? Get an ice pack? You need Scarlet?”
“No!” Yvie answered too quickly. Vanessa’s eyebrows shot up. “Don’t tell Scar, it’s fine, just let me- will you help me up?”
“Yeah, of course.”
Vanessa held out her hands and planted her feet firmly as Yvie clambered up. As soon as she stood upright, she nearly fell over into Vanessa’s arms. “Let’s get you to the couch.”
Yvie nodded and winced as she was practically dragged over to the plush seat in the dressing room.
“Can you- can you get me water?” Yvie’s voice had taken on a different tone. It was soft and pained, rather than her usual sarcastic droll.
Vanessa obliged.
She watched Yvie down the bottle in seconds.
Vanessa didn’t know what to do; if she should leave, if she should stay and talk, if she should whisper soothingly into Yvie’s ear.
Vanessa guessed the younger girl probably wouldn’t have appreciated the last one, but she didn’t know.
Yvie saw the emotions play out on Vanessa’s face.
“Sorry, just, sometimes-”
Vanessa cut her off. “You don’t gotta explain nothin’. I get it.”
Yvie kept talking; it must have been the pain. She felt she needed to explain herself. “I just don’t like telling Scar. She worries about me.”
Vanessa nodded. “Everybody sees how much she cares. You got a really great girl.”
“I know.” But Yvie could hear the doubt in her own voice.
Scarlet had always been adored by men and women alike. She was naturally charming. And naturally distant.
Scarlet was untouchable. Above it all. The princess in the tower, surrounded by thorns and knives and a dragon. She had suitors left and right throwing themselves at her. She never paid them any mind. One drunken night she had confessed to Yvie.
“You wanna know why everyone is in love with me?”
“Not really, but that’s never stopped you before.”
Scarlet ignored her and plowed ahead, counting off her fingers. “I’m quick-witted. I’m intelligent. I’m mysterious.” She paused.  “And no one will ever have me.”
“I don’t know if I agree with the first two, but go off, sis.”
Scarlet tried to punch Yvie in the arm, but Yvie caught her fist before she could. The younger girl twisted her wrist, and managed to get Scarlet on her back with her hand behind it. Yvie fell on top of her, breathing heavily.
The mood in the room shifted.
The air was like electricity, snapping and sparking everywhere Scarlet’s eyes touched.
“I’m starting to not agree with the last one either,” Yvie whispered.
“Yves-” Scarlet went to protest, or to encourage, or to… she didn’t know. Still didn’t know what she was trying to communicate.
Yvie kissed her.
Scarlet kissed back.
And suddenly the princess in the tower was back on the ground.
Ever since that night at the bar (meeting Katya), Trixie hadn’t put her phone down. She had even purchased an unlimited data plan she was using it so much.
Katya texted her sporadically. She blamed it on the time difference and her general scatter-brained nature.
Trixie would wake up from her four hours of sleep to twenty or so messages about Katya’s opinion on the oil crisis, or food insecurity, or even how good Trixie’s ass looked.
Having conversations with her was like being in fifty car crashes in a row. Her whiplash was severe.
But she was getting better at it. The banter.
Trixie had never really felt compelled to share her funny comments, content to sit back and be the quiet one - well, the other quiet one - Blair had first dibs on being the most silent of the cast and crew. But lately Trixie had been talking more, she was more bubbly, more open and energetic.
Her phone buzzed.
It was 5 a.m. and she had stayed awake nearly all night to hear from Katya. She felt stupid. It was stupid to be so involved with this girl she had known for less than an hour.
But she was.
So here she was, at 5 a.m. waiting for a text she knew she would get from a girl she met in a bar.
If she thought about it too much, it was sad. So she didn’t think about it.
She let herself be happy and giggly. She let herself live in the fantasy for just a little longer. Who knew how long it would take Katya to get bored of her. How long until she realized how normal and average and un-special Trixie was.
Her phone buzzed again.
K: What are your opinions on baby seals?
K: don’t answer that.
K: you should be asleep.
K: i’ll just say
K: they are a nuisance to the great waters of the world
K: a source you ask for? my source is my eyes.
Twenty minutes later…
K: A seal stole my sandwich.
K: i’m guessing he was a baby by the size
K: Also, I’m guessing he was a he because he stole my sandwich.
K: and men are dogs
K: or in this case
K: seals
Trixie chuckled to herself lightly, the screen on her phone illuminated her face. She felt that stupid silly rush again.
She let it wash over her.
Content to let herself be happy for now.
“Why the FUCK did I have to hear from Blair of all people that you aren’t performing tonight? Yves, what the fuck?”
“Baby, I-”
“No, no. Don’t ‘baby’ me.” Scarlet seemed to suddenly realize her girlfriend’s position. Yvie was lying on an ice pack sitting at what looked to be an uncomfortable angle. “You’re hurt, aren’t you?” Scarlet’s tone was suddenly softer.
Yvie waved her hand dismissively. “It’s nothing, really, the doctor said-”
“Doctor! You had to see a doctor?”
“It really isn’t-”
“Yves, why the fuck didn’t you tell me?”
“Because I knew you would act like this okay? There. Are you happy?” Yvie spat out.
“Act like what? Act like I care about you? God forbid I care about you! Is that it? Oh look at me I’m Yvie and no one can ever love me.”
“Scarlet.” Yvie tried to sound firm, but her voice cracked.
“No, you don’t get to talk right now.” Scarlet breathed in and out. “You are just gonna have to suck it up. I love you, you stupid asshole. I love you so fucking much my chest hurts.” Scarlet looked down at her hands. “I never thought… I never thought I’d love anybody. And here you are. Making everyday better just cause you exist.”
“Baby-”
A sharp look from Scarlet cut Yvie off again.
“I care about you. No matter how fucked up your joints are. You can’t get rid of me. I’m in it for the long run, Yves.”
Yvie nodded.
“So you can’t just not tell me these things. Yes, I worry about you, but it’s because I can’t stand the thought of losing you.”
Yvie nodded again. “Can I talk now?”
Scarlet let a small smile slip.
“I love you, too.”
“And?” Scarlet prompted, teasing smile on her face.
“And I’m sorry for worrying you.”
“And?”
Yvie rolled her eyes.
“And you are an angel on earth and I can’t imagine my life without you.”
“That’s more like it.”
….
Brooke and Kameron sat in the audience of the theatre.
They were in Toronto, Brooke’s home away from home.
Right after college she had moved out here to pursue her passion. She joined an up and coming ballet troupe. She had put in the hours, done the work, but something was still missing.
She was living her dream… but it didn’t feel right anymore. It didn’t even feel like her dream.
She stayed for a year.
She would walk Hospital Row at two in the morning, on legs that were begging her to sit down. She would walk and walk and walk until she physically couldn’t anymore. She would sit on the street corner with a water bottle and a longing in her chest for more. Her brain kept coming back to the night in Nina’s living room. A dance company of her own. Something the world had never seen before. The idea made her chest fill and her lungs empty.
Everyday she wore down just a bit more.
But then she got a call one night.
It was her new dream calling.
Well, it was technically Kameron that was calling, too out of breath from excitement to fully explain what she was doing, but Brooke understood. It was happening. This stupid silly drunken plan was taking shape. She said she couldn’t do it without Brooke, and Brooke, heaven help her, was just crazy and young enough to catch the next flight home.
She and Kameron spent the next months throwing their sleep schedule out the window. They stayed up and danced and joked and ate ramen noodles on a mattress on the floor. And they laughed and worked and dodged bill collectors.
And they did it together.
And they made it.
By some miracle they made it.
Brooke didn’t believe it.
Still sometimes didn’t believe it.
Kameron pinched her arm lightly, pulling her out of her head for a moment. “Earth to B, come in B.”
“Ow, Kam.”
Kameron smiled. “Whatcha thinkin bout?”
“This,” Brooke said vaguely.  She motioned to the stage, the seats, themselves. She turned to Kameron, trying to convey how thankful she was, how blessed she felt. “We did it. We really did this.”
Kameron smiled wider. “We really did.”
Brooke pulled her into a hug. It was awkward with how the seats were arranged but neither girl minded.
Kameron pulled back and looked away from Brooke, her eyes falling, as they always did, to the middle of the stage.
Brooke knew what she was thinking. After all these years she knew.
“I always thought we’d do it together though. You know? You and me. Tearing up the world with our troupe of dancers.”
Kameron’s smile vanished and she couldn’t look at Brooke. “B, you know I can’t.”
Brooke sighed. She had hoped, maybe stupidly, that Kameron would finally open up a bit. “Kam, you can’t keep letting what happened keep you from this.” Brooke motioned to the stage again. “I know you miss it.”
“Of course I miss it. But…”
“But what?”
“What if I’m not good at it anymore?”
Brooke gave her a doubtful look. “That’s not true. You know it isn’t true. What are you so scared of?”
Kameron stopped fidgeting with her hands and sighed. “I’m scared I’ll fucking love it. I’m scared if I do it again I won’t be able to stop. I’m scared it will happen again.”
Brooke softened her voice. “Kam, there was a tech issue. That stage light…”
“It shattered my foot, B.”
“I know, Kam, I know. But you-”
“I had a brain bleed from the fall.”
“Kam, I-”
“No, B. I’m sorry. I know you’re trying to help. But you’ll never understand what I went through.”
“I was beside you the whole time. I know what you went through.”
Kameron shook her head. “You don’t get it. You can’t. I couldn’t dance for a year! Can you even comprehend that?”
Brooke was quiet. “No.” Because she couldn’t comprehend it. Couldn’t imagine giving it up, not now, not ever. It was the only thing that was worth getting out of bed in the morning. It was her reason for being on this earth. She knew that for a fact.
She couldn’t imagine life without it.
She knows Kameron felt the same.
“No, you can’t.” Kameron spoke softly.
A silence fell between them.
“I’m sorry Kam.”
“Me too, B.”

ALL THE COLOURS
HERE WE GO BOYS
zinc white; how are you really feeling today? no one-word answers please!
I’m feeling tired because I’m supposed to be in bed. But happy because I did the work and I can get away with sleeping in and things are just chill right now. I have devised a way of sneaking waste food at work. If you put it in these little metal containers and hide them under the fridge, nobody notices them and throws them away. This eve I dined on garlic bread and prawns.
cadmium yellow; when you think of the word “happy” what’s the first thing that comes to mind?
Walking with coffee and tunes. I’m trying to appreciate things in my life I will feel nostalgic about later in the moment, so I don’t regret anything. This is one of those things. Although I might not have the tunes part for long because I fucking broke my headphones and they may or may not start playing my music out loud for all the world to hear. I hope people like disco!
lemon; what’s your comfort food?
Food from my old workplace. I have trouble finishing food usually but not this stuff. I will probably scream while eating it. You know this and you love me
hansa yellow; what’s your guilty pleasure song?
“I Will Survive”. People were singing it in the Office and I guess it’s so famous and ironic and cringey now or something. But then I remember that one fucker
yellow ochre; name an artist/band whom you just discovered & can’t get enough of!
Herbie Hancock. I don’t know if I’ll listen to every single thing from him but I was just listening to some funk as you do and his like solos? I was vibing. We were having brain to brain communication. It was an experience. It was so so good. It was good fucking music. Listen to this shit. Herbie Hancock - I Thought It Was You This stuff makes me want to wiggle on public transit.
naples yellow; where do you feel most at home?
Bonsais and my quiet neat fucking room. Or not giving a fuck in other people’s mess.
raw sienna; with whom do you feel most at home?
YOU HO
golden ochre; describe the relationship you have with your closest friend.
We reblog asks and send each other all the asks. ADHD disaster energy finding balance. The worst posts I’ve ever seen followed by revenge. Two gay best friends who are best friends. No seriously I am so grateful for your unconditional love and your warmth
golden deep; what’s your favorite season?
Autumn. When the leaves were falling and the sun was shining all bittersweetly I was running around taking so many pictures because there’s like this golden time and then it’s gone.
cadmium orange; what do you like to do on your days off?
I like to buy too many plants and pretty rocks that are just vibing. I just like to wander around with coffee without a schedule. Listening to funk and disco. Seriously I’m the coolest person ever
orange lake; do you have anyone you can turn to when you’re sad?
U HO. And some online mutuals of course :) I feel like I don’t turn to people when it’s real sad hours though. I just give my ocs more PTSD.
titans; do you prefer slow mornings or relaxing evenings?
Relaxed evenings. Fuck mornings. All my mornings are slow buddy.
shakhnazaryan red; are you currently binge-watching anything?
No, because I had to go and cancel my Netflix as all my favourite things got more episodes.
red ochre; are you more right-brained (creative) or left-brained (analytical)?
Oh right brained bitch.
burnt sienna; is there a painting that brings you peace when you look at it?
No, paintings are stressful. It’s always like “Holy shit, that must have been so much work! I don’t enjoy painting myself! This person is better at painting than me!” I have much love in the heart for Van Gogh.
english red; what animal do you relate to most?
I know what you’re trying to do and it’s not going to work. I could say a cat, because I want to lie down in a patch of sun, knock things over, and complain loudly. I would say a dog because I think people are way better than they really are, am tenaciously loyal to them, and get excited about going for a walk.
vermilion; what’s your favorite accent?
Whatever this one hot guy at work has.
cadmium red; do you have a “type” when it comes to a significant other?
FOR FUCKS SAKE okay I’m going to google what my type is
You got: Mr./ Mrs Perfect
You like someone that truly has is all. You need someone who is well rounded in all aspects of life. When it comes to looks and personality, only perfection receives your affection.
Wow, what does that mean at all
scarlet; describe your current crush/es.
Ok, one of them gave me cheesecake, one of them offered me pizza, another one is the guy whose Facebook you stalked for me and we still couldn’t find his birthday but I laugh about one adorable photo still (the car one), and one of them I spent half an hour trying to find where I put the birth chart of and we’re actually really compatible. I’m sorry, if you want more information I’ll have to ramble about it in your messages.
ruby; what does your ideal first date look like?
OH I JUST WANT TO WALK DOWN A STREET HOLDING HANDS AND GO TO A RESTAURANT WEVE NEVER BEEN TO BEFORE AND TRY SOME FOOD AND LAUGH A LOT, AND THEN MAYBE GO ENJOY THE VIEW OF THE OCEAN AT NIGHT. IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK? IS IT?
carmine; what does your ideal second date look like?
I don’t know, fuck it let’s go to the aquarium!
madder lake red; would you ever kiss someone (or accept a kiss) on a first date?
I dunno man. I feel like I wouldn’t if it wasn’t socially acceptable but I’m also wild and crazy.
rose; what’s something really positive going on in your life right now?
I REALLY ACTUALLY LIKE MY WORKPLACE. And my living situation is pretty okay. It’s not great I guess but I’ve been coming a long way.
quinacridone rose; what’s something you’re really looking forward to?
Literally what are these colours. Okay, I’m looking forward to putting wires around crystals to make them into jewellery. Then, I want to give the jewellery to my friends.
violet rose; what does your dream house look like?
An old as fuck, old fashioned as fuck haunted-looking mansion I can give some love.
violet; is there any place in particular you’d like to settle down?
I need the outdoors bro. I need those trees. I gotta live in the countryside again someday.
blue lake; what would you like to do/accomplish before you settle down?
Write some books! Run rampant in the city…
cobalt blue spectral; what is the most beautiful place you have ever been to?
I think it would have to be the hills where I grew up. It was bursting with biodiversity, there was a rustic sheep farm, everyone shut the fuck up, there would be frogs, the smell of the fresh air in any season, some days would just be heart-stoppingly beautiful and I ache for it sometimes. Birdsong? I heard some birdsong today and I wanted to cry. I remember our hedges would be deafening with the birds in it.
ultramarine; when was the last time you were in a good mood? do you know/remember what sparked it?
Today, it finding something I maybe could sit around and read and then finding it in me to actually get out of bed lol.
blue; what’s the most recent dream you remember?
The one I just had. A lot of it is blurry, which is frustrating because I got some strong almost-memories of it throughout the day, but it sticks out to me because I was bawling my eyes out a lot in the dream, and I also hurt myself the way I used to and I had to check that I hadn’t done it in my sleep. But I think it was a very expressive dream and those are my natural emotions.
bright blue; what does your dream family look like? any kids or pets?
I like the idea of a husband and some dogs, cats and chickens. Kids maybe.
how many of each?
A lot of chickens, but not too many please.
blue cobalt; do you like your name? would you give yourself a different name if you could?
I do like my name, and I did give myself a different name. Even if I knew how annoying everyone would be about pop culture Gordons, and I did. I still would choose this name.
prussian azure; what’s your favorite scent?
I’m running out of things to say as my favourite scent. OK, Nomad from Old Spice. I don’t know why, I think it must suit me or something. Maybe it’s the citrus… stuff going on there.
azure blue; what’s your favorite type of tea, if any?
Red Rose, my mom made it for me as a kid and she drank it all the time while teaching me piano or reading books.
turquoise blue; if you could start a garden, what would you plant?
Flowers, to show off to everyone, and then I don’t know, maybe some fucking pumpkins and easy things like corn and peas.
cerulean blue; if you were guaranteed to have a viewership, would you start a youtube vlog?
I think I’d be happier to have one if I knew no one was watching my antics LMAO
glauconite; describe your body without using any negative adjectives.
Best of both worlds
yellow green; picture yourself walking in a field. what do you see & hear in this scenario?
I’m still thinking of where I grew up. I see the sun through the branches of very old maple trees, and hear the wind in the long grass.
green light; are you in a comfortable place in life? if not, what do you think might make it better?
Yes, but I could make it better by moving in with cleaner roommates and getting a cat. And maybe work at something I’m actually interested in, or go to school or something.

I don’t have plans, but I’d like to visit Mexico, France, or Japan.

Megamind/Thor Ragnarok
burnt umber; what’s something you plan to do before the day is over to take care of yourself?
Wow I feel really called out right now. I was going to eat some chicken because I’m hungry. Because that’s what I should be doing at 3AM.
umber; have you drank enough water today?
Yes, but probably not. I’ve been trying really hard today though.
voronezhskaya black; what or who is your go-to outlet for when you need to vent?
Probably you again, welcome to the salt mines!
sepia; name five things that always make you happy.
Buying a plant, rolling around on my fuzzy blanket, videos of cats being idiots, little unexpected thoughtful gifts, people sharing food.
indigo; what’s the best/sweetest compliment you have ever received?
A Treasured Mutual once spontaneously said I was a really good person because I was chill and they felt free to be themselves, to be vague.
payne’s gray; describe your aesthetic?
Looking around my room, it would seem to be whatever those studying people organizing notes with the window open on a sunny day have. I don’t know if this is me, but my room looks… vaguely feminine and organized in that way.
black; post a selfie because you are so beautiful!
I’m in my PYJAMA CLOTHES. I only want to take a selfie with GOOD NATURAL LIGHTING and the DAYTIME DARK CIRCLES around my eyes not the NIGHTTIME DARK CIRCLES. Maybe I have one hanging around

@mirycactusito Thanks for the tag :D
⭐ Name: David
⭐️ Sign: Libra
⭐️ Height: 5′7″
Put your music list on Shuffle. What are the first four songs that come up?
All the Way by New Order
Fantasy by Mariah Carey
Valerie by Ra Ra Riot
Clarity by Zedd ft. Foxes
Have you ever had a poem or song written about you? God I fucking wish.
When was the last time you played 🎸? One of my friends in 8th grade brought one in near the end of the school year, and I played it for about a minute. I was not good.
Who is your celebrity crush? I have TWO. First is Antoni from Queer Eye, cause I’m pretty sure he was created in a lab to be the perfect husband for me. The second is Frank Ocean. He has it all; the voice, the beautiful songwriting, stands up for what is right, and he’s not afraid to show his emotions. Also he’s hot.
What’s a sound you hate and a sound you 💛? HATE sniffling. Love the sound of birds chirping (yeah yeah I know it’s generic but still)
Do you believe in ghosts? My mom loves those ghost hunting shows. Not me, though.
How about aliens? I mean, the thought that we’re the only living things in the universe is hard to believe, but it’s highly unlikely we’ll actually meet them. Wirte me down as a no.
Do you drive? I’m gay and I live in NYC of course I don’t
What was the last 📖 you read? Heart of Darkness. If that doesn’t count cause it was only part of a book, then Our Band Could Be Your Life: Scenes from the American Indie Underground, 1981–1991
What’s the worst injury you’ve had? Playing kickball in 8th grade, one of my teammates ran into me, and when I tried to stop him by putting my hands in front of me he broke my pinky finger. It’s still not fully straight today.
Do you have any obsessions right now? Been looking for one. Maybe that archery anime would be good...
Do you try to hold grudges against people who have done you wrong? I try to, but I can’t really hold them for a long period of time. Unless they did something really bad, in which case they’re dead to me.
In a relationship? God I fucking wish.
⭐ Rules: bold what you prefer.
• COFFEE or tea - DELICIOUS CAFFEINE
• 🍫 or vanilla - I’m addicted to chocolate.
• spring or FALL - My bday season, the end of humid af summer, and fall has the best aesthetics of all the seasons don’t @ me
• pop or alternative: depends on how i’m feeling really. I guess I’d go with alternative if I’m in an album mood, but if I’m in a “put the playlist on shuffle” mood, then pop.
• FRECKLES or dimples: either one is fine though.
• SNAKES or sharks: danger noodles > giant teeth
• MOUNTAINS or fields: in awe of the sheer size of those lads
• thunder or LIGHTNING: thunder can be scary, and lightning looks cool in photos.
• Egyptian or GREEK mythology: no strong opinion either way, I just like one slightly more.
• ivory or SCARLET: I like the opacity and kinda old-vibe ivory has
• flute or LYRE: Simply because lyres look cooler
• eyes or 👄: eyes are prettier on first sight, but the mouth is so versatile
• WITCH or fairy: fairies feel too ethereal to me
• OPAL or 💎: I like colors and opacity
• BUTTERFLIES or honeybees: I have an irrational fear of bees
• macarons or eclairs: Gun to my head probably macaroons, but I’ve had neither
• typewritten or HANDWRITTEN letters: if they have good handwriting
• secret garden or SECRET LIBRARY: I FUCKING LOVE BOOKS
• SPICY or mild: I have white person spice tolerance, but I’m working on it.
• opera or ballet: Never got interested in either tbh
• London or PARIS: If I ever get around to learning French...
• Van Gogh or MONET: In art class freshman year of high school Monet was my favorite artist
• DENIM or leather: I almost bought this denim jacket at H&M 2 weeks ago but I couldn’t button it D:
• potions or SPELLS: I’d kill for magic powers tbh
• OCEAN or desert: More biodiversity, less punishing climate, easy choice
• MERMAID or siren: A mermaid would never try to harm me.
Jeez this took forever uhh... whoever wants to I guess?
