white lotus s2 finale rundown
(spoilers ahead)
in case you're wondering, here are the characters that survived the second season: Daphne and Cameron (the supposed scammers, played by Meghann Fahy and Theo James) Harper and Ethan Spiller (the couple on the rocks, played by Aubrey Plaza and Will Sharpe) Albie, Dominic and Bert Di Grasso (all of the men who were on some sort of heritage trip, played by Adam DiMarco, Michael Imperioli and F. Murray Abraham) Portia (Tanya's assistant, who gets whisked away to Sicily, played by Haley Lu Richardson) Jack (the supposed nephew of the head gay, played by Leo Woodall) Valentina, and the rest of the hotel staff (she's the director of this location, who is played by Sabrina Impacciatore) Lucia and Mia, my problematic faves (both of whom use their bodies to get what they want, and the only non guests involved, played by Simona Tabasco and Beatrice Grannó) presumably Greg, Tanya's husband who we met last season in Hawai'i (played by Jon Gries) although we don't have any confirmation of this fact
that means the dead characters are: Tanya McQuoid, Quentin, Didier and Niccoló (played by Jennifer Coolidge, Tom Hollander, Bruno Gouery [from Emily in Paris] and Stefano Gianino), putting the death toll at 4. it is not told whether or not Hugo or the captain of the boat survived, but I would personally doubt it, because they did seem significantly far out from the shore. in the end, I'm sure only mike white knows for sure.
now, let's talk about that season finale.
first off, I'm wondering if greg actually was planning something, or if tanya blew it out of proportion in some way. I guess we'll never know, although there were definitely some red flags, especially with the way that jack was acting.
let's talk about jack for a second. I'm so happy that he redeemed himself in my eyes, and let portia go and even gave her advice that probably saved her life. who knows what might've happened if portia went back to the hotel? I'm a jack fan at the end of this season, because the guy was just doing what he could with the cards he was dealt, but didn't want to actively hurt someone (because if tanya had gotten hurt, he would've been peripherally involved, but wouldn't have played a direct part in her demise)
the digrassos. I feel like they could've used some comeuppance, apart from albie. it sucks that dominic will probably just go back to what he's been doing, and that albie vouched for his dad. I feel like the fact that none of these men have been affected by their experiences is shown in the airport scene, where a young woman walks by and they all turn their heads to ogle her. I think it shows that this gross misogyny kind of runs in their family (because they kind of perpetuate it) and that it would be hard for them to change without serious introspection.
super happy for valentina. did mia use her? sure. but it was definitely mutually beneficial, and mia does say that she wants to help valentina find a lesbian, and even take her out to bars, so I foresee a prosperous future for valentina. also gotta say, small win for the gays because valentina wasn't killed at the end of this season.
isabella and rocco seem fine. I'm happy that Isabella was always so polite to valentina, and I think she genuinely wanted to be friends with her, so a good future for these two and hopefully they have a good life.
ethan nearly chokes cameron, and I am so unhappy that cameron lives at the end of the season. I think it would be cool to have a cameo from daphne next season, where she is ending her stay at a white lotus with her trainer and her sons, and we just assume that she killed cameron or something. I am happy for ethan and harper, but it seems like a bandaid on their situation, so I'm not sure what the future looks like for these couples. I do think their stories could have been wrapped up better, and I wonder if mike white found himself burdened by the inclusion of so many characters this season, because the ending did not seem as closed as season one.
lucia and mia are doing well, lucia has loads of money that she got after scamming albie, and mia has a job at the white lotus as a singer, so good for them. I could care less about albie, and as he says, that amount is a drop in the bucket for his father anyway. I also think it is legitimate karmic payment, that dominic will inadvertently help the lives of these two women after destroying the lives of the women in his family. I'm also happy that lucia and mia live, because I think there is a trend in media where promiscuous women are killed because of their promiscuity, so seeing them live was super endearing. especially since lucia says earlier in the season that she's worried that she will die because she's a prostitute, and prostitutes always die.
I'm kind of happy for portia, but I can't help but compare her to belinda. it feels kind of significant that one of these characters was a guest and the other an employee, and that one was white and the other was black, in terms of where they ended up. I do think the show could've paralleled their arcs better in this finale, and driven home the point that portia was coming from a point of privilege, and that's why she survived and got off relatively easy.
what was the point of including the story of the woman from the moors? who was that supposed to represent after the finale? my guess was tanya, but I don't think we'll get a follow up on her storyline, so the symbolism here doesn't really work. also, if it was tanya, the story is backwards, because she dies and the cheating spouse doesn't. is the point of the statues that this was the path one of the main couples was heading down, and then the statue breaking is a subversion, and their story won't end in tragedy? honestly, I have no idea.
I'm happy that tanya died. I was getting tired of her character, and I was scared that if she survived this season mike white would bring her back for season three, and I think the series will work better without through lines or continuing stories, and instead focuses on the only point of contact being the white lotus resorts.
I'm happy that the piano guy is gone. he wasn't that interesting, and I'm happy for mia.
greg, will we ever see him again? will we get a conclusion to his story?
it's really ironic that tanya ends up killing herself, because if greg was after her money, he's got it now. I would like to see greg get comeuppance, because I think he sucks.
just like greg, I feel like cameron didn't get his comeuppance, but I guess we might have to wait for another season to see if anything bad comes to him.
I feel kind of bad for the group of gays, but I also don't. I have mixed feelings about their group, and my thoughts about their ending are still developing. I do think that it's possible tanya overreacted and killed a bunch of people who didn't have completely nefarious intentions. this is another storyline that could've used a defter hand, because it feels incomplete.
I do think that it's weird that there is a kind of bury your gays going on with the show, considering that armond is the only death in season one (and we're shown that he's gay) and then we have two of the gays dying in this season. I doubt these are white's intentions, but it is kind of weird to look at this together, and I think the next season will cement the trends of the show.
final thoughts:
I would rate this season maybe a 6 or 6.5 out of 10. it was not as good as the first, however it was possibly more entertaining than the first. I think involving so many characters made it harder to have satisfying story beats for all of them, and loads of people online have pointed out that there is not a lot of interaction between the guests, or even that a lot of important plot points aren't taking place at the hotel. the first season seemed a lot more focused in its scope. I do believe that the show was intended to be a limited series, and I think it should have stayed that way, because I think it will only get worse as it goes on, when it could've ended on a high note last season. I'm down to watch the third season and see if mike white can redeem himself, and because there are a lot of technical aspects of the show that I enjoy, but I'm not eagerly anticipating it like I am other good shows like succession.
I do hope that mike white finds a way to tie up all of the loose ends of this season somehow, but I think all of the loose ends and dropped story beats really cheapened this season. it also makes me think that season one was lightning in a bottle that he will never be able to replicate.
anyway, a pretty disappointing follow up.

June 20th — Osaka
Osaka is really close to Kyoto and is a huge city, but I’ve only been there once so far, to go to Universal. It was pretty exciting to be in a huge urban environment again, but I think my draining battery finally hit me today.
We took about a 30 minute train ride to Osaka, and broke for lunch, where Sebastian got some curry (no way) and I went with another group to a Katsu restaurant, where I finally got some chicken katsu. It’s the first chicken Katsu I had, and it was really good. Next, we basically went on a short walking tour of Osaka, through a place called “American Street”, which had a ton of designer brands and an american aesthetic, including a Chevy Silverado with a dog in the back— the first pickup truck I’ve seen since I’ve landed in Japan. That was a throwback (hell yea brother). We then went to central Osaka, and were released for the last time 🥲. I definitely liked the vibe of Osaka a lot, and I wish that I went there on more free days to explore. There was definitely some amazing shopping in there, though my suitcase is probably full by now.
Speaking of shopping, I hung back with Emily and Ana, who were planning on going to snoopy town. That was a short train ride away, in the Osaka station. This snoopy town was huge, attached to a big store called “Kiddy Land” (which felt super weird to walk through…) I got a really nice snoopy button-up to go with my Shinji outfit. Afterwards, we spent about 30 minutes trying to figure out where the Daimaru building was. The station shopping plazas and surrounding buildings are not that easy to find on google maps, but once we finally found the building and rode the elevator 13 floors up, we hit the Pokémon center and the nintendo store.
After that, my battery was super drained. We managed to catch an express train home, and I passed out.
Academic Reflection
Today’s reading focused on Vishnu’s favorite topic, Urban planning. Specifically, it used Osaka as an example of how Japanese cities are carefully planned, despite looking more mish-mash compared to US cities.
This was the last reading, and my brain was kinda fried, so I don’t think I got many details out of it. (Also I’m writing this in the airport, don’t tell anyone) Still, it was interesting to think about Osaka and the Japanese city-scapes. As the readings pointed out, many people observe that, unlike in US cities, where the dividing lines between new and old, rich and poor, commercial and residential are much more clear, in Japan, all of them blend together. I observed that especially in Tokyo, but Osaka fit the description too. Another part of the reading that matched my experience was the idea that houses and small shops are often demolished and rebuilt. I did see that a lot in both Tokyo and Osaka— that is, demolishing and construction.

Seville Later!
an:Hey y'all! I'm back and I have a new Luke fic for you. I definitely got a bit carried away with this one, i think its my longest of the series actually. Anyways, this is the sixth installment of the Happily Ever After series with Luke. As always, hope y'all enjoy!

masterpost|taglist|have an idea
You and your sister-in-law had planned a girls’ trip to Spain a few months before you found out you were pregnant, but since you got pregnant, she had gifted the vacation to you and Luke.
The two of you decided to use it as a baby moon-your the last trip together before the babies come. You had fallen in love with Spain when you visited a few years ago and were excited to share that with Luke.
Your flight was set to leave at 3:30, so your sister-in-law picked you and Luke up at 12:30 to take you to the airport. The flight was just over an hour before a layover in Washington. From there, you only flew another hour before laying over in Newark. That layover was 3 hours; you vlogged for part of it but fell asleep against Luke for most of it. Finally, you flew overnight into Zurich, arriving there at 11:40 am. With an hour and thirty-minute layover, you and Luke had a quick breakfast, and then you continued vlogging while Luke read a book. The last leg of flying began at 1:15, which got you into Barcelona at 3pm.
The first stop was the hotel, where you checked in and went up to the room. As soon as you dropped your bag, you made a beeline for the bathroom, hopping in the shower. After flying for basically an entire day, it felt amazing. Though you had been napping, your serious lack of energy caught up to you—the strain of carrying two babies. As soon as your head hit the pillow, you were out. You only woke when Luke shook you for dinner. He had ordered from room service. The two of you ate and then cuddled up in bed to watch a movie before falling asleep.
Days two and three were much more eventful as you spent your time in Barcelona. The first stop was the Sagrada Familia; you and Luke both took pictures as close as you could get. You wanted to document this trip. You took out your vlogging camera to film the next part of your adventure. You had lunch at a cute café before you made your way to Park Güell. You walked hand in hand through the park. Most of the walk was spent marvelling at the beautiful mosaics and the architecture and materials to make the park sustainable. As you guys walked past the playground, a smile grew on your face when the sounds of shrieking and laughter met your ears. Luke leaned down and whispered;
“Soon…” with an equally big smile on his face. Your last stop for the day was Casa Batló, a home built during the period known as ‘The Bone of Contention.’
The third day in Barcelona had more of an early start. Room service brought up breakfast while you got ready. A flowy dress, sandals, sunglasses, and you were prepared for the day. Today was a vlogging day. First on the list was a trip down Las Ramblas. It was packed full of people. You took your time admiring the street artists and even took some pictures with human statues. Then, you continued down, looking for the Miró part of Las Ramblas. You found the circular mosaic and made sure to take a picture.
Next was a visit to La Baquería for lunch. It was around 10 when you first walked in, just looking around. You and Luke only spent about an hour there, which was good because it started to get super packed as you were walking out around 11. You made your way, bellies full, to the Gothic Quarter to visit the Cathedral of Barcelona. Ducking into little artisan shops along the way. The cathedral was stunning, such a different kind of architecture than you were used to.
You and Luke headed back to your hotel to freshen up. You changed into a form-fitting navy dress with short sleeves and cream flowers that hugged your bump adorably, pairing it with pearl earrings and comfortable white wedges. Luke had a navy button-down and jeans on. He looked amazing as always. He complimented you and you him before heading out for dinner. You went to Barceloneta beach for drinks—yours non-alcoholic—and then Restaurante Salamanca for dinner. Afterwards, you went and checked out before hopping on the AVE train, getting into Sevilla around 5 in the morning.
After checking in to the new hotel, you freshened up and then went for a power nap. When you got up, you changed, and then the exploring began. Day one in Sevilla you visited the Réal Alcázar, the Seville Cathedral, Plaza España and el Barrio de Santa Cruz, but not leaving without ducking into la Iglesia de Santa Cruz.
Day two in Sevilla was spent touring Casa Palacio de Dueñas, touring the Casa de Pilatos, a permanent residence for the Dukes of Medinaceli. After dinner, you ended the night with an impromptu flamenco show during an evening paseo.
Day three was actually a day trip to Córdoba from Sevilla; this was also a filming day for you. You had breakfast with Luke at a quaint café before heading to the Mezquita. A mosque that was built on top of an old church. After that was a trip to Calleja de Flores, and following that was the Roman Bridge. You had a quick lunch and rest at el Mercado Victoria before moving on to the next sight. Viana palace was next. The gardens were astounding, with beautiful flowers and water features; together, you wandered around everywhere that was allowed. Finally, you visited La Regadera for dinner. It was delicious and absolutely worth every penny. After spending the night in Sevilla, you and Luke picked up a car and began the drive down to Ronda.
Just as you were entering the Village, you told Luke to stop. He parked the car, extremely careful not to damage it in any way. You enjoyed lunch together at Arcos de Frontera and rested a bit before heading back on your way. First, you took a tour of the out-of-use bullring, and following that, you visited the Plaza de María Auxiladora and Casa de Rey Morro and stayed the night at a local inn.
The following day you had to get up and prepare for a countryside drive. You and Luke collected your belongings and got into the car for a visit to Los Pueblos Blancos. It was mostly a countryside drive, through the forest and past many wild goats. It was very romantic, though. You stayed another night in Ronda before dropping the car off at the train station and boarding. You only had one day in Granada, but it was packed full. First, you visited the Alhambra, then the Generalife Gardens before the Nasrid Palaces and a stroll through Albayzín in the evening. Ending the night with a dinner of tapas.
Next was Nerja. Your first tourist spot was el Balcon de Europa. You took turns taking pictures of each other and then asked a local to take some photos of the two of you together. After that, you took a walking tour through the Nerja caves. The rest of the day was spent relaxing at the beach, Playa el Salon. You and Luke then headed to Majorca, with two days to spend there. The first day was spent at Camp de Mar, a beautiful resort. You spent the entire day on the beach and alternated from the sun to shade. The second day was spent at a different resort. Adults only. It was much more swanky—more bells and whistles—but equally as beautiful.
After that was a visit to a smaller town, Tarragona. You visited the Tarragona Cathedral. Following that was a visit to La Rambla Nova, where you partook in the tradition to “tocar ferro para buena suerte.” You and Luke both touched the wrought-iron bars to comply with the tradition. You walked along the upscale district that was around La Rambla Nova before deciding on a dinner restaurant. After dinner, you walked along La Platja de miracle before heading back to the hotel.
Your last day before heading home after the baby-moon was one last day in Barcelona. That day was spent enjoying the sun, sand, salt and sea.

in the process of rearranging a few things to prepare for the next update, i never had any super fancy plans for my island but i did assume at the beginning that i was going to need to ration space and build everything close together so i had room for it all. it just resulted in crowded buildings and lots of unused space that i now need to figure out what to do with. the image above is my very basic “plan” that ive been following since i started. im looking for inspiration i can use to help break my reluctance to change things. the theme i want is a sort of gothic town surrounded by haunted forest, think neovia from neopets.
Tumblr media
im going for this kind of vibe, you see?
thats what i want the city area to feel like. mostly marketplace with a dark and spooky atmosphere that makes you think of a city thats been around for about a century or so. id also like sort of a “gateway” to the plaza from the airport, which i have currently but it feels like i could do better.
the residential areas i want to feel more open, with plenty of space for gardens and yard decor. maybe some terraforming here and there. small-town-with-a-secret vibes maybe. (the secret is that the townsfolk are witches)
and the wilderness is just that. dense forest with some natural furnishings scattered about, some evidence of occult activity in some areas. definitely haunted by something.
if you want to take a look at the current state of my island feel free to visit the dream address.(DA-0936-5919-5621) either send me pics/addresses of islands that could fit my theme or if youre more of a designer give me some tips. i dont want to just flatten my island and build it from the ground up but rather work with its natural shape to form it into what i described.

The map I chose for my freshly restarted island! I would normally not like the plaza to be so close, but it’s perfectly lined up to the airport dock so I couldn’t resist.
I was also really looking for the big round peninsula, at least one large beach rock, and a secret beach that is off to one corner so I can leave it easily open and accessible without having to cut a path through the cliffs.
Overall I am super satisfied with this map!

hey lovely!! im planning a trip to seoul next year + I know that you've been, so i just wanted to ask for your recommendations?? wheres the best place to stay area wise, places to visit, good food restaurants/cafes, how best to get around (im guessing subway)?? 💞
hello! how exciting omg. in terms of area, i don’t have any specific recommendations since i tend to stay in airbnbs when abroad and i’ve been in various different areas while in seoul. i think as long as u can find somewhere that’s ~fairly~ central and at a good price, then you’re golden! tbh it doesn’t really matter too much if you’re a little further out too bc the subway system is a dream and makes travelling around v easy (which answers your final question). you’ll just need a t-money card (which is like an oyster card/metro card for the subway that you load up with money and use to tap in/tap out at stations) and you can travel anywhere with ease!! the only thing to note is that trains stop running at night fairly early - i think it’s around/before midnight, so if you’re planning on staying out late then you’ll need to get a taxi.
here’s a few of my fave restaurants 🍚
카타코토카페 (the cuuutest japanese curry restaurant. it’s run by a couple and they’re lovely and super friendly!!)
신선설농탕 in myeongdong - i am v biased as a oxtail soup supremacist but this is honestly one of my fave places ever and i make it a tradition to come here every time i’m in seoul lmao IT’S JUST SO TASTY. tip: they’re always suuuper busy at breakfast and lunchtime so try to come before/after. also, there’s a rice porridge restaurant above this place on the 3rd floor (i think?) that is DELICIOUSSSS
광장시장 - the beeeest traditional food market. there are so many quality food stalls here and u can get a really, really top tier meal for super reasonable prices. note: they don’t accept card, so make sure u have cash on u before u go
maple tree house in itaewon - on the pricey side but god damn is their kbbq worth it (yes. the answer is yes)
명동교자 - also another fave that i visit whenever i go!! their knife cut noodles are,,,,, incredible,,, and their dumplings are just so mind blowingly good just go and allow me to live vicariously through you please
나물먹는곰 - super cute restaurant that’s hidden away in hongdae. they have great traditional food
and some of my fave cafes ☕️
c.through cafe - check out their instagram for all you need to know about this place lmao
sulbing - this is a bingsu chain that you can find in multiple places!! their bingsu is so so good. i recommend the 인절미 bingsu and also there’s this one honeydew melon one they have with ice cream inside and it’s!! just!! amazing!! idk what it’s called but it’s super tasty YOU NEED TO TRY IT
cafe onion - the prettiest cafe!! they have two branches and both are lovely
not in seoul but honourable mention because it’s my fave cafe ever: waveon cafe in busan is,,,, life changing
as for places to visit, that rly depends on ur interests! i recommend visiting the palaces for sure and also the hanok village (but do be wary it’s a residential area so they understandably don’t like tourists lingering on their doorsteps for photos. there’s also quite a few cool tea houses in the area, i recommend you to check them out!!) n.seoul tower is also a must see - try going in the evening around sunset bc by the time you get up to the tower, it’ll be dark and that’s when the view is most impressive. the hike up there is also pretty nice if you’re prepared (i was NOT when i went and i nearly died lmfao but i digress). other places of interest:
한남동 has a lot of cool cafes!! it’s like a new, trendy up and coming area with a lot of nice eateries
홍대 is a lot of fun, especially in the evening bc lots of buskers perform there!! also there’s lots of boutiques with cute clothes!! it’s my fave area to explore because it’s just so lively
if skincare is your thing, you’ll like 명동. there’s also a lot of street food in the area in the evening
not area specific, but you need to try out coin karaoke at least once before you leave. it’s so so fun
동대문역사문화공원 is suuuper cool. there’s lots of really great artist stores inside the plaza
other general suggestions/advice
if you’re looking for good places to eat at and you’re in a jam, use mangoplate. it’s a super useful app for finding 맛집
kakaomaps may work better than google maps in seoul
please be careful of using public toilets bc there’s a huge problem in korea re: tiny cameras filming unsuspecting women. i don’t want to scare you, but i just want to give you a heads up as something to be wary of so you can protect yourself!!
you may want to get a sim card at the airport so you can use data. there’s wifi everywhere so you don’t have to get one, but i got one for my 2 week trip and it came in super handy countless times
things you should try before you leave: goobne chicken (get the red pepper one. i kid you not it changed my life), picnic by han river (you can order food to be delivered to you there!!), the convenience store kimbap (it’s SO good wtf), 떡볶이 (there’s a really good restaurant for it in hongdae that i can’t remember the name of but it’s really close to the gs25 store near one of the subway exits)/street food in general
not sure if you’re aware already, but you don’t need to tip in korea! also, you pay by the door before you leave so no need to wait at the table
i think that’s everything i can think of from the top of my head!! hopefully that helps. ik it’s a while off still but i hope you have the best time on your trip 🌷✨
EDIT: I AM A CLOWN i forgot to mention 교보문구??!??!? it’s a massive bookstore that has allllll the books you could ever want, including visual novels!! they also have stationery and cds and things, 10/10 recommend

ACNH Guide by an AC Newbie
Planning / Decorating Your Island
you might see a lot not to worry about placement of houses or buildings because you can change it later. while this is true, moving things is expensive and takes a LOT of time. so at least try to space them in a way that isn’t too cluttered (a good rule of thumb is don’t stick everything behind/right next to resident services unless you want it to be there a WHILE
getting a 5 star island doesn’t require placing random objects everywhere. i got mine by accident just by creating little hang out areas and cute spots for fun. so take your time and build your island the way you want!
it is easy to get overwhelmed looking at all the aesthetic island posts online which makes it harder to focus on what YOU want. a good starting place is to pick a general feel for your island. are you wanting more of a natural, spread out feel? a modern, urban getaway? a super tropical paradise? a fandom-based escape? keeping a general idea in mind can help when decorating.
Harvesting Materials / Getting Items
when harvesting materials, dig three holes behind you when hitting rocks to get 6-8 materials in stead of three. you can shake trees indefinitely for branches.
every day you can harvest 3 bundles of wood from each tree, up to 9 materials from each rock, find one DIY bottle on the beach, 4 fossils, and shake 1-2 items from trees.
when shaking trees for items or branches, always stand directly in front of the tree with a net equipped. if a wasp nest falls out, your villager will automatically face it with a look of terror. click a and you should catch them with no stings ^u^
additionally, you can always get extra materials going on nook miles tours. you also have the chance to shake out an extra item on the island from trees without fruit.
be careful shooting down balloons over flowers/highly decorate areas. if there is no open square (with no flowers, furniture, etc) for the present to land on, it will glitch and disappear.
you can always buy new items/clothing from nook’s cranny and able sisters. nook’s cranny closes at 10 p.m. and able sisters closes at 9 p.m.
if you want duplicates of items you’ve already had, order up to 5 of them using the terminal in customer services.
***specific note, you have to register songs for radios, cassette players, etc. i honestly thought this meant finding a way to transfer real songs but NOPE. there are adorable K.K. tracks you can buy each day from the terminal under nook shopping. it’s always at the bottom for special items.
Villagers
there are 8 personalities for villagers.
females: normal, sisterly, snooty, and peppy
males: lazy, cranky, smug, and jock
everyone starts with a combination of sisterly and jock.
when you eventually get to search for villagers, feel free to be a little picky. find ones you vibe with. i didn’t realize that there are over 400 potential friends out there when i first started looking.
it fun to see how different personalities interact, so i do recommend giving all of them a try. but find your own balance that fits you. love the jocks? get 7! want all normals? do it! can’t stand peps? it’s ok!
don’t ask nook to sell plots of land UNLESS you have the nook miles to get plenty of tickets to fill them. otherwise, the house will automatically be sold to a random villager the next day. (or, if you like to have fate pick for you, go wild and sell as many as you want!)
coaxing a villager to move out doesn’t have to be cruel. i honestly can’t smack my little animal friends with nets and the posts calling them ugly or trapping them in cages or fences makes me sad. just don’t talk to them often and they’ll decide to go when they’re ready.
alternatively, you can get villagers to leave via amiibo or camper. my understanding is with amiibos you can pick who you want to leave. with campers, they pick a random villager to go talk to. if you wanted a different animal to move out, press the home button on your switch, then close the game by clicking x. you might lose a bit of saved time, but should be able to speak with the camper again to try for a different villager.
Being a Good Friend
want your villager to know how much you love them? talk to them every day.
after a few days, you will unlock the option to give them a gift. i love giving mine clothing. note, for the most part villagers cannot wear pants, socks, or shoes. so i wouldn’t recommend them as gifts, though your villagers will still appreciate the thought
send letters. in the airport there is a letter kiosk. you can send a note to your villagers with a gift each day.
DIYS
at first, you can get large amounts of DIYs by attending nook’s workshops and buying DIY packs at nook’s cranny. soon, there will be no more packs to buy, in which case you can get new DIYs the following ways
bottled messages wash up on the beach once each day
shooting down balloons
Several villagers each day will be using their DIY bench at home. speak to them to receive the recipe for what they are making
when visiting mystery islands, bottled messages can wash up on shore. it doesn’t happen every time
Making Money
catching bugs and fish can bring in lots of bells! however, some are worth way more than others. looking up a guide for prices isn’t a bad idea, but it’s your call!
ALSO! there are npcs called flick and cj who buy bugs and fish respectively at higher rates. if you have the storage or don’t mind a mountain of tanks and cages, you can save your critters for these visitors. just keep in mind it might be a while between visits.
hunting and fishing not your thing? try being a DIY guru. gather materials and go crazy. build a ton of stuff and sell it to the nooklings for profit
blathers already has the fossils you dug up today? sell the duplicate fossils for a nice payday.
play the stalk market to try and make bank! every sunday daisy mae visits til 12 p.m. to sell turnips. buy as many as you can and sell them when the prices go up. note, you do risk losing money as prices won’t always be in your favor. additionally, if you keep the turnips til the next sunday they will rot.
Having Fun
do it your way. really. that’s the advice. you might prefer to spend all day harvesting and fishing. that’s so cool. you might prefer to build endless projects and redecorate every day. completely valid. maybe you just wanna chill with your animal friends and aren’t in any hurry to decorate. that’s an amazing plan!
that said, here are some things to do if you aren’t sure where to start.
place a radio next to the plaza. enjoy listening to your villagers sing.
follow a villager throughout the day to catch them napping, chasing bugs, snacking, and otherwise being adorable
look at the nook miles+ tasks for the day and complete them all
look at your DIY catalog and build an area based on what you have. parks, restaurants, cafes, and item stalls tend to be easiest at the beginning and you can always change it later if it no longer fits
visit your museum exhibits and really take your time. it is a very soothing place
try your hand at designing your own outfit using a custom design
if you have nintendo online, visit a friend’s island and play hide and seek, buried treasure, or have a fashion show!
If any other players have advice to add, please reblog or reply so I can edit and add to the list! Thanks for reading!

Day 12: Flying Through Brussels On Our Last Day
The first task on our last day in Europe was to buy some raisin croissants and chocolates at Lidl to bring back to the U.S. We walked to a neighborhood Lidl close to where we were staying and bought exactly what we were looking for prior walking back into town. After that quick trip, we started our very packed day in Brussels.
Today, we saw a ton of sights across town. We started at the Royal Palace of Brussels since it was closest to where we were and slowly marched across town, hitting all the marked sights I had on my map. St. Michael and St. Gudula Cathedral, a cathedral that looked eerily similar to the Cathedral de Notre Dame in Paris that had a massive fire the previous evening. The Royal Gallery of Saint Hubert that was like a gallery with shops and stuff in it. The little peeing girl statue, Jeanneke Pis. The Mont des Arts, where there was a nice view of the city below. The highly, highly popular Manneken Pis, also known as the statue of the little peeing boy.
After seeing a ton of places in quick succession, we made a brief daytime dessert stop at Maison Dandoy, a tea room well known for its delicious waffles. Because it was our last day, I knew we had to find a way to fit waffles in. It took a while to get seated for some weird reason but eventually, we got a table and quickly ordered two waffles: a Belgian Waffle and a Liege Waffle, with a total of four toppings: fruit sauce, cooked strawberries, vanilla ice cream, and whipped cream. So freakin’ delicious! Such a well-balanced taste with yummy toppings, all warm and crispy. The one regret was that I didn’t get even more toppings, especially the chocolate and caramel sauces. Yummmm….
We sat in Maison Dandoy for a bit, enjoying the atmosphere there and enjoying our quick break but eventually had to leave to see more of the city as the clouds started to creep in. Our next stop was the Grand Place located right next door to the tearoom. It was a pretty, very gold plaza with beautiful buildings, like City Hall and the Museum of the City of Brussels, surrounding it. We explored the plaza and then ventured in and out of a ton of chocolate shops (like Pierre Marcolini and Neuhaus) surrounding the plaza, with the idea of scouting them out before purchasing chocolates on the walk back home.
The Zinneke Pis, the peeing dog statue on a street corner, was our next stop. Poor guy, he wasn’t nearly as popular as the little pissing dude. From there, we walked to what I thought would be the Comic Strip Wall but ended up only finding a couple of comic murals there. I wonder if it’s gone or if I just missed it… By this stop, we had hit most of the places I had planned on seeing (except the Atomium, which was way too far, sadly) and were at the furthest point from our AirBnB. So, we slowly strolled along a very roundabout path back toward Ixelles (the suburb where our AirBnB was located) and stopped by a couple of places on the way back that we happened to stumble upon and revisit. We also stopped by the chocolate shop Pierre Marcolini for some super fancy chocolates to bring home for the family and Cynthia.
When we finally made it back, we took a quick break, dropped off some stuff, and decided to get dinner at a Vietnamese restaurant called Chao located relatively nearby and recommended to us by this random Vietnamese lady we met earlier in the check-out line at Lidl. The walk was excruciatingly painful given the uphill nature of the mile-long hike, the longer-than-expected hike, our tired feet, and our hungry bellies. But we made it. By the time we arrived, the restaurant was pretty empty. But eventually, it picked up and there were a ton of people by the end of our visit. And the food there wasn’t bad at all! Homey Vietnamese food to round out our trip to Europe. My parents ordered lemongrass chicken, a canh chua (sour soup) dish, and a tofu and vegetable dish. And I got some soybean milk to wash it down with. So good! By the time all was said and done, we (specifically me) had cleaned up all the dishes and rice and I was food dead. I probably ate enough for 4-5 people hahaha.
The rest of the evening was just packing, hanging out in the AirBnB, and getting some rest before waking up in the AM for the long flight back to the U.S (Oh and by the way, it took AGES to get through security at the Brussels Airport and to my gate. OMG). What a family trip it has been! I’m always so impressed at how my parents keep up with our travel pace. Kudos to them for being awesome travel parents and making the most of the family adventure!
And with that, another chapter closed on our annual family travel journey. Until next time!
5 Things I Learned Today:
1. There was a ton of ongoing construction in Brussels this visit. Roads were being re-stoned and repaved. Buildings were being renovated. Sidewalks too. And some of the construction made it difficult to walk from Point A to Point B. Beware.
2. Belgium, specifically Brussels, has SO MANY chocolate shops, of varying fanciness! The most famous of them all, though, is Pierre Marcolini. Fancy, chique, and expensive. And these chocolate shops are located everywhere! But if you’re looking for somewhere to check a lot of them out at once, there is a large cluster of chocolate shops near and in the Grand Place.
3. The popular peeing statues of Brussels are actually quite underwhelming. Those things are so small (actually life-sized kid statues), making them really hard to see behind a huge crowd of tourists.
4. What is the difference between Belgian and Liege waffles? Well, here it is! Belgian waffles are way more light and airy compared to Liege waffles, which are way more dense, thicker, and heavier. I also think that Liege waffles are sweeter as well. But both are delicious and worth a try!
5. Supposedly, there are a decent number of Vietnamese immigrants here in Brussels. A lady we met at Lidl quoted that there are probably around 10,000 Vietnamese people living here and many of these families live near and around the Ixelles suburb/neighborhood area.

Argentina - land of wine, of meat and of tango.
ARGENTINA - Land of wine, of meat, of tango
Day 1. (15/11). It took us half a day to cross the border between Chile and Argentina. Crossed the border and it was pretty fast. I then got into the bus terminal at Calafate, which I will warn you is a bit of a walk away from the city centre (about a 30 min walk). What you have to do to cross the terminal to the taxi side, cross the car park and stay on the road on your left all the way. You will cross a crossroads twice and eventually go downhill and arrive at a T junction. There you turn right and follow the road, cross a canal bridge and you will pretty much be on the Main Street. I would say the walk is safe during the day and fairy easy as its all downhill towars town. The hostal I stayed at was three parallel roads from the Main Street. Try and stay around there. At the hostal book a bus to Perito Moreno (800arg bus ride only; the entrance ticket price is not included) with Caltur.  Try to book the day before as in that case the company picks you up at the hostal unlike if you book on the day where you will have to show up at the bus terminal. I then headed out to the market which is on the main road but further out and headed to a butchery before the market on the same road called El Turco. The meat there is of great quality and cheaper than in the market. I advise you get the Bife de Chorizo cut.
Tumblr media
Perito Moreno route options, you can do the whole thing in couple of hours
Day 2. (16.11). We were picked up around 8am ish and it took us 1.5hrs to get to Perito Moreno. You are dropped off at the car park but before you stop to pay the entrance to the park which you can pay by card or cash. Cash is faster. Once you get there you walk around in these platforms. There area few routes: black, blue, yellow and green. We did the blue, yellow then red. The green is through the forest so you can't see the glacier so we skipped it. The bus picks you up at 15:45. We took food into the walk so you can eat and enjoy the scenery on the benches dotted around. We were back for 5pm. Then I bought tickets for a day in Chalten (1,600 and 3hr drive). If I had more time I would have stayed around 3 days to a week in Chalten.
Tumblr media
Perito Moreno
Day 3. (17/11). The bus to Chalten got there at 11am and got to the start of the Fitz Roy trek for 11:30am. Be warned that with only one day there (arriving at 11am and leaving at 6pm you can either do the loop that I did and see a bit of each trek or commit to a full trek). From 11:30am-1:10pm I managed to do the first third of the trek where I stopped to look at Fitz Roy for 10 minutes. At the cross section at the top for the second third of the tweak where I went left down towards Laguna Madre y Hija, I arrived at the bottom at 2:20pm. The way was mainly downhill. By 3:30pm I was on the end of the walk/sendero and got to Chalten town in another 10 minutes and before 4pm I was back at the bus station. This meant that I had to wait around 1.5hrs for the bus. This trek was estimated at 6hrs but I did it in 4hrs at a fast pace. As it was mainly downhill allowed for a quicker pace. I estimated 1.5 hours for each third of the trek. I would advise you did the same to give yourself enough time. Below is a picture of the route map...
Tumblr media
The actual walk is super beautiful...

Fitz Roy, Chalten
Day 4. (18.11). On this day I woke up and took a transfer to the airport which I booked at the hostal. I paid the driver after the ride. Bag drop off in 19 mins so no need to arrive too early. The flight took 2.5hrs. As I landed I connected to the airport Wi-fi and ordered an Uber. Be warned that the Ubers cannot come into the pick up area of the airport so keep an eye out on the street for your Uber. As I arrived at the end of the afternoon at Benita Hostal I bought some food at the nearby shops, a nice bottle of wine and had a chilled evening. When booking your hostal look to stay in Palermo area. It’s safe and close to a lot of stuff.
Tumblr media
Floralis at the United Nations Plaza
Day 5. (19.11) I headed out early to see the street art in Calle Serrano. Then in the pm I headed to Buenos Aires' Recoleta area. First I saw the the Floralis at the United Nations Plaza that works with solar energy and it opens and closes depending on the time of the day. It’s a very slow movement so you won't really see it happening. Followed by the Facultad de Derecho and the Centro Cultural and an exhibition on film and Freud. We saw also some music open air on the green near the bellas artes museum and cultural centre and walked around the market stalls. Then back and to Rapa Nui for ice cream. Yum.
Tumblr media
Centro Cultural, Recoletta, Buenos Aires
Day 6. (20.11). Visiting Buenos Aires city center highlights. La Liberia El Atendo Grand Splendid  formerly a theatre; Palacio de Aguas Corrientes; the National Congress of Argentina; Casa Rosada former presidential house built in 1873; Puente de La Mujer designed to look like tango dancers; Plaza Dorrego in Monserrat and the San Telmo market up to the Kavanagh building being the tallest in Argentina in its time and lastly the Colon theatre and the Obelisk. From where I was based made sense. A bit of a zigzag but it worked. About 7 hours walk.
Tumblr media
The Kavanagh building
Day 7. (21.11). Woke up went to get a subte card which costs 65 arg plus 35 arg charge. You can either get one by an underground station or, as in my case, right in front of the hostal there was a shop that sold it; just ask at reception. I then headed back to the corner of my hostel and got the 29 bus towards Boca (make sure it says Boca at the front as there are two 29s). Around 45 mins later I was getting off at Caminitos. Just keep an eye on mapsme or your offline Google to know when to get off or ask the driver. Caminitos is a small street and the Boca stadium in only a 2 min walk north. Maybe consider a tour which will last you around 3 hours I reckon. Just walk around and enjoy some free tango, lots of souvenir shops and awesome picture spots. From there we walked north to San Telmo for a photo with Matilda on her bench at Chile with Defensa street. From there to the CCK (a cultural centre by the Casa Rosada) then back home on the green tube line for an easy night.
Tumblr media
BOCA stadium
Day 8. (22.11). Woke up and the weather wasn't too great but headed north past Bulnes to do a park route. Past the Las Heras Park then to the Botanical Park. Then north past eco Park and then across to the Paseo El Rosedal - this stunning rose park! Then back towards the planetarium, past the Japanese garden and then the floralis cultural centre and back. Short pit stop at the Buffala Heladeria - yum! Spent most afternoon chilling and packing as wel as buying last minute things.
Day 9. (23.11). Wake up at 6:30am and left the hostal at 8am and made it to the airport for 8:30am. I checked in and dropped bags off. The duty free section of the AEP airport is tiny and no Havana inside so buy outside or better yet in the city as it's cheaper. Flight on time, 2.5 hours I was in Brasil.

Seattle & PodCon 2 (Special Post)
Tumblr media
For this post, I wanted to share a more recent adventure of mine. This past weekend, I flew up to Seattle to attend a podcast convention. I went with my friend Heidi (@electricabyss), who actually suggested it to me while I was in Europe with Jessica last year.
Tumblr media
We landed at SeaTac early Friday afternoon. The flight was quick and easy, and we didn't have any trouble getting through security despite the ongoing government shutdown affecting the TSA. Getting from the airport into town proved simple--if not exactly speedy--by taking the super-affordable Link train from the airport to the main downtown train station, which dropped us off just a few blocks from the convention center and our Airbnb.
Heidi had never used Airbnb before, so I got to share a bit of my knowledge and experience from using it extensively in Europe. I'd managed to find us a very nice place right around the corner from the convention center and considerably cheaper than a double room at the convention center hotel.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After a slightly awkward check-in process, we set out to do some sightseeing. We wouldn't have much free time during the weekend, so we went straight for the place we most wanted to see: Chihuly Garden and Glass.
Tumblr media
I was vaguely aware of Chihuly as an artist who created beautiful and extravagant glass installations, and Heidi, being an artist, was very aware of who he is. The museum is clustered together with many other interesting museums right next to the iconic Space Needle.
Tumblr media
The museum, which was a pricey but tolerable $25, starts with a quick introduction to Dale Chihuly's career, starting with glass interpretations of Native American basket and blanket designs and moving on to his increasingly stylized and larger-than-life works.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After passing under the gorgeous Persian Ceiling, we saw the truly amazing Mille Fiori (Italian for "thousand flowers").
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After some more stunning pieces, we came to Chihuli's Ikebana and Niijima floats, featuring boats loaded with floral and sphere motifs, respectively. We found the Niijima float especially tranquil and calming to look at.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
On the wall opposite from the floats hangs a series of "Burned Drawings"--mixed media artworks created by Chihuly after he lost the use of one eye in a glass-blowing accident and had to relinquish much of the grunt work to his apprentices. He turned to drawing as a way to channel his visions into reality, using paints, metallic pigments, charcoal, and even an acetylene torch to create some truly unique mixed-media effects.
Tumblr media
Yet another amazing display was the Macchia Forest--a series of scalloped bowls made using all 300 colors in Chihuly's workshop.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Moving outside, we wandered through the magnificent gardens, filled with colorful glass tendrils rising from the ground like a beautiful alien invasion.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
At the center of the museum is the Glasshouse, which houses one of the largest and most complex suspended installations Chihuly has ever made. It looks like one continuous string of exploding flowers, but from the side we could see that it was actually composed of many smaller pieces cleverly hung together to give the impression of continuity.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And faintly visible through the ceiling, the iconic Space Needle towered directly over us.
Tumblr media
Before we left, we got to see a live glassblowing demonstration by a team of three museum employees. They were using a mobile workshop converted from a vintage Airstream trailer.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was fascinating to watch them work, and the darkening evening made the glow of the molten glass all the more spectacular. Even though they were only creating a simple cylindrical vase, we were enthralled to see them start with a small, egg-sized ball of molten glass and expand and shape it, adding bits of clear and colored glass along the way.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was especially impressive to see the way the team worked together with practiced ease, each anticipating and preparing for the others' needs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After the show, we took one last look into the gardens, then headed over to the Space Needle gift shop, where all of the artwork made by the glassblowing demonstrations is put up for sale.
Tumblr media
We made our way to the Armory, a food court in the center of the museum plaza. Most of the restaurants were already closed despite it being early evening on a Friday, but we stuck around since we were meeting up with some of Heidi's old college friends. Afterward, we went home on the monorail, which exists solely to connect the museum plaza with the main train station downtown.
That night, as I tried to sleep on the pullout couch, I was reminded just how nice it is to sleep in a real bed.
The rest of the weekend was dominated by PodCon.
It was the second annual PodCon convention, featuring the Green and McElroy family podcasting empires, as well as a host of other great podcasters including--but far from limited limited to--Roman Mars of 99% Invisible, Helen Zaltzman of The Allusionist, Ross and Carrie of Oh No Ross & Carrie, the Hannahs Hart and Gelb of Hannahlyze This, and Cecil Baldwin, Jeffrey Cranor, Joseph Fink, Symphony Sanders, Dylan Marron, and Meg Bashwiner of Welcome to Nightvale.
Heidi and I were mainly fans of the various McElroy and McElroy-adjacent podcasts, but we were excited to discover new great podcasts and podcasters as well.
Saturday started with a fun opening ceremony. Highlights included listening to Hank Green and Travis McElroy talking about being dads of toddlers, Cecil Baldwin encouraging us all to take a break and appreciate floors, and Griffin McElroy passing on the crown of “cronching.”
Next, we saw a live performance of Oh No Ross & Carrie, which Heidi hadn't seen before. Ross talked about his experiment to see if their ban from Scientology had reached this far north, then they covered a Seattle ghost tour they'd taken the night before. There had been a bit of a mix-up with regard to the question of whether there would be a projector in the meeting room, but Carrie kindly kept us apprised of just how much we would have enjoyed the pictures they'd taken.
It was everything I'd hoped for.
Tumblr media
We managed to get into a meet and greet with the Smirl sisters of Still Buffering, including Sydnee McElroy, who also hosts the medical history podcast Sawbones with her husband Justin McElroy, of My Brother, My Brother, and Me and The Adventure Zone. (Confused yet?)
I was able to get my copy of The Sawbones Book signed by Sydnee and Teylor, who did the book's fantastic artwork, and Heidi was able to have a very brief chat with Teylor about art school and continuing to do art even when you don't end up being able to make a full-time living off of it.
Tumblr media
All three of them were incredibly sweet and wholesome.
After that, we saw a live performance of Buffering the Vampire Slayer, which neither of us had seen before. Hosted by the formerly married Kristin Russo and Jenny Owen Youngs, each episode recaps an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, reveling in its silly awesomeness while also appreciating its relevance to ongoing social, political, and LGBTQ issues. Even having never seen the episode they were recapping, it was very entertaining and accessible.
Tumblr media
Last two shows of the night were Still Buffering and My Brother, My Brother, and Me, the two shows we had been most excited to see. They were both very fun, and the episodes have already been posted this week.
After day's events were over, we took an Uber over to Pair, a fine Franco-Mediterranean tapas restaurant in the university district where another of Heidi's old friends works. The food was absolutely delicious, and for dessert Heidi's friend prepared a special "raindrop cake."
Tumblr media
It was… interesting.
The second day of the convention, we saw three panels: one on podcasting with family (featuring Teylor and Riliegh Smirl), one on dealing with anxiety and depression as a comedic entertainer (featuring Justin McElroy), and one on telling complex stories in a simple and accessible way (featuring Sydnee McElroy). The last panel also introduced us to the delightful Helen Zaltzman of The Allusionist, a non-prescriptivist podcast about the charms and foibles of the ever-evolving English language.
Tumblr media
We also got to meet Clint McElroy, father of the McElroy brothers, co-host of The Adventure Zone, and author of the Adventure Zone graphic novels. He was a surprise guest on the family panel and was more than happy to lead his "disciples" out into the hallway afterward for book signings, photo ops, and fatherly hugs. Like everyone else we met, he was incredibly kind and respectful.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Taking a break, we walked down to the Pike Place Market for lunch. We got chicken katsu and a chocolate and strawberry crepe, both of which were among the tastiest either of us had ever had. We also checked out Golden Age Collectibles, which is apparently the world's oldest comic shop.
Tumblr media
Last big show of the convention was Sawbones, where Justin and Sydnee talked about auriculotherapy--a pseudoscientific practice similar to reflexology that claims you can cure just about any ailment just by applying the right pressure, vibration, or radiation to specific pressure points in the ear.
Tumblr media
The con ended with a wonderful closing performance. Highlights included an experiment to record an entire ten-episode podcast season in ten minutes (One Question, With Allegra Frank), Roman Mars and Justin McElroy conversing through prerecorded sound bites, and a hilarious and terrifying game where four podcasters had to compete to say catchphrases while wearing a dental mouthpiece. Carrie Poppy handily won, then proceeded to deliver an amazingly drawn-out and over-the-top victory speech--while still wearing the mouthpiece.
I’ve never been much of a convention person. I don’t like crowds, and I don't have a deep-seated desire to share my obscure obsessions with total strangers. Liking the same thing is good fuel for a friendship, but I don't see it as a basis for one. Still, getting to see the live performances and panels was a thrill, and it was truly touching to see people enjoy themselves and revel in their weirdness in a way that they probably don't feel free to in their regular lives.
All in all, it was a fantastic weekend and a much-needed break from the busy holiday work season. I have to say that, while our Airbnb experience was quite positive, in retrospect I probably would have stayed at the hotel instead. It was cheaper than a hotel, but not that much cheaper. Close to the convention center, but still a bit of a walk. And we didn't really have time to take advantage of the kitchen or any of the other amenities. Having a larger space and separate rooms was the main benefit, but the beds really weren't that great.
Tumblr media
Anyway, we had a great time, and the trip home was as easy and uneventful as our flight over. In fact, the TSA agents were unnervingly friendly and cheerful--an experience I'd never encountered before in a US airport.

Following my Pre-Planning post…We’re 30-ish days from DragonCon, and this may be your first year going! Never to fret, Dragon is the most nerd-friendly place! Get ready to hang out with 77,000+ of your closest (new) friends!
Labor Day weekend in Atlanta is busy – and HOT. There are several things going on in town that weekend, and with these tricks you’ll do just fine.
1 – Pre-Plan: That’s right, pre-plan. I know I said it before. You should already be doing this. You should also start taking Vitamin C supplements (you’ll read why further down). By now you should have your room situation taken care of and your badge purchased. If not, you still can or you can get them online for $140 (until 8/17, then they’re $160 online). Tickets are $140 on site so do not buy it at the higher price!!! Also if you’re doing celeb photos, you should pre-pay them online from Epic Photo Ops. I believe they do on-site sales as well.
If you’re driving, you should already go ahead and scope out what parking lots are around the con on-line. They can range from $3/day (uncovered) to garages that are $18/day (covered), and even hotel parking which I do NOT recommend, as it’s $30-35/day and that’s just crazy. All of the hotels have a service where you can unload your gear and have it set aside in the lobby while you go find parking.
If you’re flying, check out what route on the MARTA you need to take and if you’re having someone meet you at the airport, schedule your meetups.
Atlanta also currently uses Uber and Lyft, but watch out for Uber surge pricing.
Success!
2 – Pack: Packing is essential. Veterans have become masters of suitcase and car-tetris. With as many costumes as some of us bring, it’s vital. In the past I’ve written a short packing list that you can check out. I recommend packing short sleeves and shorts, jeans, and COMFORTABLE SHOES as your mundane clothes. You don’t have to go outside normally, but there is programming in both the Westin and Sheraton that you have to walk to (as in not via skybridge). It’s only a couple of blocks for either. Same goes for the Vendor Hall and Gaming, which are now located in the AmericasMart across the street from the Hyatt.
3 – Arrival: You made it! Now you need to meet up with your room holder (unless that’s you), and get your stuff up to your room. Take a few minutes, relax, BREATHE. Shenanigans are already happening (and do 24/7 pretty much). Unpack, get a nap in (you’ll need it), get some food.
Now that you’re at DragonCon, you’ll need to be aware of some things….
Realize that you’re going to stand in some lines at some point. That’s okay! Big celebrity panels tend to form huge lines (as do the masquerade and puppet slam). Line up for those as early as DragonCon staff will let you. All panel rooms are cleared after each one, so you can’t just park in a room all day. It’s not fair to others who wait in line.
Bonus: Most big name panels and the masquerade are broadcast on DragonCon TV in the host hotels, so you can avoid it altogether if you just want to watch it in your room.
Bonus 2: You can meet new people in line. People you obviously have at least one common interest with.
Learn your way around. DragonCon is HUGE and it’s easy to get lost. The con is spread out over five hotels, which are:
Hyatt Regency Atlanta – 265 Peachtree Street NE
Marriott Marquis Atlanta – 265 Peachtree Center Avenue
Hilton Atlanta – 255 Courtland Street NE
Sheraton Atlanta Hotel – 165 Courtland Street
Westin Peachtree Plaza – 210 Peachtree Street
The Hilton, Marriott, and Hyatt all connect to each other via skybridges. You can also reach the Peachtree Center food court through the Hyatt and Marriott.
Pick up your badge. Badge pickup is located in the Sheraton. DragonCon staff have had their stuff together and for the last few years it’s been pretty speedy. If you have your barcoded postcard, bring it! If you need to purchase a badge, be ready with your ID and money. If you’ve lost your postcard, that’s okay too. Just be ready with a Photo ID. DragonCon has posted an article with the process and the hours of operation here.
Plan a schedule. You can pick up a program at the end of registration. It lists all of the events and panels that are going on. They should also be in the app (you can download in the Play Store or App Store). Just keep in mind you’ll probably change this up a bit.
Find the ConSuite! It’s open 24 hours, and they provide snacks (and SPAM) and beverages to all convention goers!
They are located in the Hyatt in rooms 223 and 226.
Check out the food court. Seriously, you have to eat. Make time for that. The food court provides a LOT of options, including:
Cafe Momo
Chick-fil-A
Metro Cafe Diner (24 hours!!!)
Moe’s Southwest Grill
And so many more! Check out this link to find out what all is available: Peachtree Center Food Court
Personally, I recommend Café Momo for breakfast and dinner as they cost by weight and you can get SO MUCH FOOD for a decent price. They also have gluten free options.
There’s also a 24 hour CVS, and you will make at least two trips there. Just saying.
What events are must-see? DragonCon is enormous and it is impossible to see everything you want to, whether it is your first con or you are an eternal member. However there are many events which should be seen at least once (and preferably your first year, because you may want to participate the next!)
The Parade (10am Saturday). With over 3,000 participants, this one is a must-see for everyone.
DragonCon Night at the Georgia Aquarium (7-11pm Saturday). You have to do this at least once! They close the aquarium early to the public, and then reopen for a night of costumed fun. You get to visit this amazing attraction with FAR LESS crowds than a normal day. It is simply breathtaking, and the photos that come from this are to die for.
The Masquerade (8pm Sunday, Hyatt). Most people will watch in overflow locations, or on DC*TV from their rooms as this event fills up very quickly.
4 – Have fun, but be responsible: It’s hotter than hell in Atlanta (Hello, Satan’s buttcrack!), so hydration is super important! There are water fountains in the hotels so I recommend bringing a refillable water bottle.
Remember the rule of 4, 2, 1…
4+ hours of sleep per night
2+ meals a day
1+ shower per day – with warm water and soap. Axe bodyspray does not count as a shower. Seriously, no one likes con funk. Don’t be nasty.
Pretty much how Con Crud feels…
Don’t accept drinks from strangers. Most people are there to have fun and it’s harmless, but there’s always the risk of someone putting something in a drink. Also, you don’t want to share drinks with people because you’ll end up with Con Crud. That’s right. There’s always someone sick there and it’ll spread like wildfire. No one wants a week long cold right after being on a week-long trip. Just be smart. Also, this is why you should start taking Vitamin C supplements a month ahead if you don’t already.
Know your limits. As adults, we’re all going to have fun and probably partake in adult beverages, but don’t get so wasted that you’re puking everywhere and what not. Be smart.
Be courteous to people in general – costumed or not. Don’t pull on someone’s Proton Pack, prop, or piece of a costume…and don’t be a creeper on someone in costume. Sexual harassment is never okay.
Follow the Law of Wheaton – Don’t be a dick!
Allow disabled people onto the elevators first. They have no other option to get upstairs, you do.
Follow the rules of the con. They’re printed on the back of your badge.
Make memories! That’s why we’re all here – to have a great time!

So I just got back from another trip. This time, everything went very well until the journey back. I think I’ll relate the highlights of it here, as maybe it’s mildly entertaining and funny to look back at, but also it provides an example of what feels like evidence of the semi-inevitability of my screwing up which makes me associate travel with stress, topped off with an example of my issues with self-doubt over judging reasonable levels of generosity.
So I was traveling between countries entirely by bus -- in fact, my tickets each way were single (very long) trips with no connections. For the journey home, I woke myself up before 6am to depart at 7:30. I arrived sensibly early, but the bus never arrived at the platform. Adding to my worry, nobody else at the platform seemed to be taking my bus, although everyone I showed my ticket to nodded and said something along the lines of “yeah, you’re in the right place”. I did eventually notice a text indicating that my bus would be half an hour late, which is apparently pretty normal for Flixbus, but eventually it was almost two hours of waiting at the platform (afraid to leave it in case the bus did come when I was gone) and still nothing. I’ll skip over the details of the next half-hour, which consisted of a lot of running up and down stairs of the building with my suitcase, going between the information desk and the Flixbus desk (which seemed open but vacated) and calling the local Flixbus number (which began with a recorded message in the local language, followed by “For English, press 1″, then after pressing 1 another recording in the local language!).
The point is that I eventually learned I had missed the bus because I misunderstood the ticket in a way in which I should have known better, although I’m still thinking of complaining to Flixbus about their formatting. Namely, the ticket showed the actual platform number (an x0x 3-digit number) in very small writing that came out very light from my black-and-white work building printer, so that it’s almost illegible and certainly not very noticeable. Meanwhile, it also showed the connection number (also an x0x 3-digit number!) in normal-sized dark writing, and it so happened that this number happened to be the number of one of the main platforms in the bus station! It had registered me that “connection” probably referred to the route itself, but I had sort of in the back of my mind figured that maybe at this station each route always departed from the same gate (this is true of small airports that I’ve known, for instance).
So I screwed up, in a way that seemed obvious as soon as I saw my mistake but which didn’t occur to me at the time (it doesn’t help that sleep deprivation is always an issue for me when I travel, but this trip was especially bad with mostly 5-hour sleeps all week). And at least nobody else was affected by my mistake, and I’d have to pay some 40 Euros for a new ticket but I’m not broke, and I’d be badly delayed getting home but I didn’t have that many rigid obligations the next day. So, not a disaster in the grand scheme of things, but still, I screwed up for a dumb reason and now my trip was going to be more expensive and a lot less pleasant because of it. And I still feel like I do this kind of thing way too much.
So I’ll skim over a lot more running around and now getting very impatient (to the point of uncharacteristically raising my voice) with the ticket desk (which refused to actually sell tickets) and the Flixbus desk (where now for some reason the woman who had been doing currency exchange before was now working, it seemed?). The Flixbus desk flat-out wouldn’t accept cards, and I had most but not all of the cost of the new ticket in local currency, but luckily a woman in line behind me did a good deed and gave me the rest of the money. (I offered to buy her some refreshment at whatever cafe in the station accepted cards, which she firmly refused, but later I ran into her at one of the cafes where she’d gotten herself a coffee and she invited me to sit and pleasantly chat for most of an hour. Definitely the bright part of my day. Helps me keep in mind the importance of extending kindness to someone who seems to be having a rough day for sure!)
My new journey had a connection in the middle (this is the part that gets more comical rather than beating-myself-up angsty). Near the end of the first bus ride I badly wanted to wash my face. Here’s where I should mention that my face gets extremely oily very quickly -- it becomes noticeable to me only about 20 minutes after I wash it, but this had been hours. The little bathroom on the bus was nicely kept up, with soap and paper towels and a plastic faucet but no apparent way to make water flow through it. So once I got off the bus, my first priority was to find a cafe in the main square across from the bus station where I could buy something and then use the bathroom. At the cafe I found, they said they only took card if it was 5 Euros or more (remember I’d physically emptied my wallet on the new ticket), so I wound up gathering five small items including two bottles of water (I was super dehydrated as well). After paying, I went into their bathroom, only to find running water but no soap. So much for that.
So I wandered out into the center of the square, which was really a roundabout on the other side of which was the big train station where there would surely be a bathroom. I was squinting in the bright sun when something happened that’s happened a lot of times before when my face gets excessively greasy, but never this badly. Some of the oil started seeping into my eyes, which makes them very stingy. Closing my eyes tightly made a lot more of it get in, which got my tear ducts started, and the next thing I knew, copious tears were absolutely pouring down my face for about five minutes. Soon I was sniffling pretty badly as well, and I must have looked like I was crying uncontrollably. And I was in a hurry to get back into the train station, but doing that required crossing the street at a busy roundabout while mostly blind, so it took a while.
Skim over the next two hours of finding an ATM, finding a bathroom, having to backtrack to find where I’d left my water bottles that I still hadn’t had a chance to open, nearly an hour of somehow forgetting where the bus station was even though I’d just come out of there an hour ago and never left that plaza, and the next bus coming half an hour late. By the time I arrived back in the city where I live, it was 2am and all I could think of was how badly I wanted to be finally home in my comfortable bed. But two problems: (1) because of the lateness of the second bus I just missed the time when the metro closed, and as I lived on the other side of the city that meant I was going to spend the next hour going by one of the night buses (taxis are incredibly expensive here); and (2) the nice but eccentric Algerian man I’d been chatting with while waiting in the connection city apparently had a habit of traveling spontaneously without arranging for lodging and politely but desperately asked if he could stay at my place for the night.
Here’s where my whole instinct to be agreeable and generous kicked in, along with self-doubts about (1) is my instinct a product of actual empathy or just a sort of cowardice where I hate to say no to anyone even though the guy was being super polite and un-pressuring, or are both those feelings just two sides of the same coin with me; (2) am I being irresponsible and gullible and putting myself in danger just by considering this because I don’t have the imagination to consider a hundred ways it could go wrong*; or (3) am I being kind of a jerk and/or paranoid over nothing or maybe a little subconsciously racist/xenophobic since I happily offered to do something similar a couple of years ago for an American guy who seemed a little better put together; and all of this was underlied by a deep mental and physical exhaustion and internal freaking out over how unfit I felt to competently judge the situation anyway after almost 24 hours of being mostly awake.
(I suppose that wins the record for (Technically) Longest Run-On Sentence Ever Posted on Liskantope’s Tumblr.)
I was actually pretty transparent towards the guy about my misgivings but he seemed genuine enough and I did want to help him, so in the end my compromise was that I’d let him into my apartment building and briefly into my apartment to use the bathroom (I wound up encouraging him to take a quick shower as well), but then he would sleep outside on the balcony where far underneath the roof we keep a sofa, and I’d hope the neighbors wouldn’t notice and get pissed. It was the perfect, most pleasantly warm night for sleeping outside, and I lent him my extra set of sheets and pillows. He accepted all this really graciously and seemed to sleep well, then left in the morning while I was taking my shower. So I think that went okay and I’m glad I helped him and I only hope my visible reservations didn’t hurt his feelings too much. But it goes to show how my internal compass for making those kind of judgment calls is totally aimless -- I still feel absolutely no gut sense of whether that approach was reasonable or not. And such a gut sense would be good to have.
Anyway, that was my day. And this post was less a form of venting and more a product of the idle pleasure I get sometimes out of narrating mini-episodes of my life which are mostly already funny to revisit (and the crying in the middle of the roundabout bit felt kind of comical to me even while it was happening), but which do highlight a couple of ongoing personal issues I’m trying to work on.
* To be clear, I’m a man, and I fully realize that the equation would be quite different for a woman, and also quite different if the asking party were a woman; still, most adult men including this one could physically overpower me without much difficulty.

So he nods. “Best friends for life.” He agrees.
This Means Nothing to Me by cuteandtwisted ★ Summary: roommates!au; “Do you still think love is bullshit?” Isak asked one night with his head lying on Even’s lap, both of them sprawled on their couch. Even bit down on his bottom lip, feeling embarrassed. He’d spent the last hour going on about how perfect the boy was; how the boy had quickly drank the milkshake and then licked the rim of the cup afterwards and… He really has a problem. Or, Even has an epic crush on a boy who he keeps seeing at the diner. A boy who only orders strawberry milkshakes.
Halla-ween by vorfm95 Summary: Isak and Even met at a Haunted House in the amusement park on Halloween. * Isak felt his soul leave his body right then and there. He went as pale as a ghost and this time he screamed his lungs out. That sweater looks like it came out of my grandma’s closet!” Eskild laughed and shook his head at Isak, “Baby gay, this is fashion. It’ll look great on you, come on. Put it on.” He instructed, thrusting the hanger at Isak, who took it dejectedly. Or, the au where Even is a photographer and Isak is his infuriatingly gorgeous model.
Could Barely Tear My Eyes Away by EvensDramaticShenanigans Summary: And Even just about melted right then and there in his seat. He was almost positive his eyes had been replaced by hearts, and his smile was so big it was starting to hurt. S-P-A-C-E by Pingviini Summary: “What on earth is this, Isak!” Eskild shouts through the music as he steals Isak’s phone from his hands making the young man in question jump. “I leave you for two seconds and you are already giving in. No. Shame on you. You hold your head, baby gay. We are sad and angry so he is blacklisted for the night.” Isak tries to reach for his phone intending to give a piece of his mind to Even but is unsuccessful as Eskild fights Isak like his life depends on it and ends up shoving the Iphone somewhere he knows Isak won’t dare to take it. “Serr?!” Isak gasps as Eskild slips the phone to his boxers and then shrugs his shoulders innocently to inform Isak that he had basically begged for it, so ultimately it was Isak’s own fault his phone was now in Eskild’s boxers.
I’m FALLing for you by Schedazzle Summary: coffee shop!au; Everything looked tinged in gold in this season. He never really knew when it started; was it a certain date? Just a random day? Did it happen gradually? Who knew, it always crept up on Even, one moment everything was green and the next the whole world seemed yellow and cozy and just so nice. This feeling only grew when the little bell above the door went off and his favorite customer came in. Even couldn’t hide the smile spreading on his face as he spotted the by now familiar golden curls.
beauty and the moonlight by withoutwords Summary: Isak’s hair sits in piles at his feet, small golden tendrils caught at his shoulders and in his lap and on his shoes. Even tries really, really hard not to cry.
Let’s Let Things Come Out Of The Woodwork by ultimatelawrence Summary: uni!au; Okay so maybe Even’s crush is becoming obsessive. Maybe he’s asked around a bit too much about Isak Valtersen. Maybe he shouldn’t be going to parties he has no real interest in every weekend just so he can look at Isak from afar. Maybe Isak shouldn’t be so damn cute then.
Pour Some Sugar On Me by staylucky Summary: Isak’s put on some Halloween weight and feels self-conscious about it until Even shows him just how much he loves Isak’s body, whatever size.
I Wish I Could Paint Our Love by GayaIsANerd ★ Summary: uni!au & one night stand!au; “I thought this wasn’t a romance movie,” Even says, when they come up for air. Isak rolls his eyes, “Just take me to your bed, asshole.” *  In which Isak meets Even in a bar and Sana knocks some sense into him.
nattergal by dobriks Summary: “Hi, my name’s Isak and I was there in like the middle but then I ended up back here and apparently I’m not tall enough and I can’t see because everyone’s heads are blocking the view and I just want to enjoy Nattergal in peace watching Gabrielle perform and I was wondering if you could, like, lift me up on your shoulders?“ * Or, Isak and Even meet at a Gabrielle concert.
this feels like falling in love by everythingislove (narrylife) Summary: It goes like this: Even sees a boy from across the Nissen courtyard and falls in love.
i’ll paint the picture, let me set the scene by mmxii Summary: This might very well be the stupidest idea Isak has ever had. And he’s had his fair share of stupid ideas, so he knows what he’s talking about, okay.
not the kind of fool who’s gonna sit and sing to you by hippopotamus Summary: Isak doesn’t sing, and Even doesn’t get surprised by Isak anymore. Actually, neither of those statements is true.
I Ducking Love You by wyoheartsmusic ★ Summary: "MISSED CONNECTION - You were the boy sitting on this park bench, I was the guy fighting a duck for my pants and losing.” Or, Even has a disagreement with a duck and Isak and Even fall in love along the way.
I missed you by nneazzz Summary: Isak, Even, Mahdi, Magnus and Jonas cabin trip.
since we’re alone by allyasavedtheday ★ Summary: “You don’t go to Bakka, do you?” Even asks when he’s exhaled. “Um, no. Nissen.” Even looks at him, a smirk tilting his mouth as he lets Isak take the joint back from him. “In enemy territory. Brave of you.” Isak scoffs, feeling a little more of the tension drain out of his shoulders – even if Even leaning closer does have his heart ratcheting up a beat or two. “Nissen and Bakka aren’t enemies.” Even tuts. “You’re no fun, Isak. This could’ve been a great start to a modern twist on Romeo and Juliet, you know? Two star-crossed lovers meet at a party but their school rivalry is destined to tear them apart.” * If Isak and Even had met at the Bakka party mentioned in 2x01.
Pumpkin King by i_once_wrote_a_dream Summary: co-workers!au; Isak grins, and taps the crown. “You’re the dumbest king I’ve ever met.”
Skeleton Key by riyku Summary: This is physiology. A conked-out teenaged boy on autopilot. There’s no intent behind it. It could be the dregs of a dream, or nothing more than the pure creature need to make an ache go away.
I’m Someone You Maybe Might Love by ultimatelawrence Summary: Even could feel it with every inch of his body, whenever he so much as looked at Isak. It was just three words. Eight letters. God, his full name had more letters. So why was saying i love you for the first time so complicated? (Part 2 of the Melodrama series)
The Worst Soulmate by kaleidxscope ★ Summary: soulmate /ˈsəʊlmeɪt/ noun: 1. a person ideally suited to another as a close friend or romantic partner. * Well, Isak hates his.
Neon Party, Take Two by awickedwind ★ Summary: It’s really, really important to Even that he and Isak attend this lame high school party. And it isn’t until Isak realizes what kind of party it is that he understands why.
sweeter than wine, softer than a summer’s night by dewdrops Summary: co-workers!au; “It’s a pretty slow day… no ride mishaps, only a few cases of food poisoning. Not much else to talk about.” Isak shrugs, looking up at Even. Even feels like a melting rat under the gaze of what must be some ethereal being, because who looks like that after standing in the same spot under a blazing sun for hours on end? Even’s too distracted to notice that Isak’s eyes have wandered elsewhere, now fixated on something behind his head. He doesn’t move to see what it could possibly be until Isak says, “It looks like one of the giant stuffed frogs from your booth is trying to get away.” “What?” Even furrows his eyebrows, turning his head. The group of teenage boys from earlier has found their way into his booth and are now working together to tear down one of the biggest prizes that hang overhead. “Oh, God. They’re back.” * Or, Isak and Even work at an amusement park.

They were standing atop the roof of a building, the vibrant lights of the marketplace below them twinkling in the background like colorful stars.Isak swallowed. He wasn’t sure what possessed him to do it. But he turned back around and reached for the scrapbook on the floor. *  It’s been four weeks since Isak and Even made the decision to call it off. Trump's White House rally fails to evoke adulation from stony-faced reporters - The Guardian
Tumblr media
After turning the south lawn into a convention stage last month, Donald Trump held a surprise press conference-cum-campaign event on Monday at the White House’s front door – where Jackie Kennedy wore black on the day of JFK’s funeral, and where the Obamas greeted their successors on inauguration day.
On a glorious late summer’s day, Trump’s vantage point behind a presidential lectern at the north portico afforded him a view of former president Andrew Jackson’s statue in Lafayette Square and, beyond that, the newly minted Black Lives Matter Plaza. Give him a second term in November, and perhaps he’ll install a golden escalator like the one he descended in at Trump Tower to launch his first campaign.
Despite the lofty surroundings, the president dropped all pretense of rising above the political hurly-burly. Over 46 minutes, he branded his Democratic presidential election rival, Joe Biden, “stupid”, falsely accused Biden and his running mate Kamala Harris of peddling anti-vaccination conspiracy theories, and unleashed a torrent of half-truths and non-truths.
But unlike the loyalists on the south lawn for the convention speech, or the devotees who gather at Trump’s increasingly frequent airport-hangar rallies, there was a stony silence from mask-wearing reporters sitting under columns, ornate carvings and a giant lamp on the White House driveway.
The perennial salesman, Trump wanted to use Labor Day to boast about economic recovery. The numbers are “terrific”, he said. “We are in the midst of the fastest economic recovery in US history,” he claimed. Some 10.6m jobs had been added since May, he said, though he did not acknowledge nearly half the jobs lost in the pandemic had still not returned.
Of the recovery, he said: “We have V-shape. It’s probably a super-V.” No mention of the more than 100,000 small businesses that shut down or the unemployment benefits that had expired for millions of Americans. As for his claim about the pandemic – “We are an absolute leader, in every way” – well, no one can dispute that America has the highest caseload (more than 6.2m) or the highest death toll (more than 189,000) in the world.
Biden and Harris “should immediately apologise for the reckless anti-vaccine rhetoric that they are talking right now, talking about ‘endangering lives’”, Trump charged, after Harris said she would rely on the decisions of public health officials and medical experts for news on a Covid-19 vaccine rather than the president.
“It undermines science, and what happens is all of a sudden you’ll have this incredible vaccine and because of that fake rhetoric, it’s a political rhetoric, that’s all that is, just for politics,” Trump said.
He added later: “The numbers are looking unbelievably strong, unbelievably good. So now they’re saying, ‘Wow, Trump’s pulled this off, OK, let’s disparage the vaccine.’ That’s so bad for this country. That’s so bad for the world to even say that, and that’s what they’re saying.”
Yes, the man who said the coronavirus would “just disappear”, suggested injecting bleach as a cure and dismissed the climate crisis as a hoax accused his opponents of undermining science. Perhaps Neil deGrasse Tyson should moderate the first presidential debate later this month.
Despite the White House trappings, this was a campaign event in disguise. Biden and the “radical socialist Democrats would immediately collapse the economy”, Trump warned darkly. “You’ll have a crash the likes of which you’ve never seen before.”
Biden wants to demolish the energy industry, he went on ever more fancifully, and will cause more electricity blackouts in California. “He wants to have things lit up with wind.”
There was also a long diatribe about trade. China, he said, “took advantage of stupid people. Stupid people. And Biden’s a stupid person. You know that, you’re not gonna write it, but you know that … If Biden wins, China will own this country.”
After more than 20 minutes of darkness, doom and fearmongering, the president said, rather unconvincingly, “Happy Labor Day, everybody!” and then took questions, trying and failing to get the first reporter to remove his mask (“If you don’t take it off, you’re very muffled”).
Naturally, Trump was asked about the Atlantic magazine’s report that he had disparaged dead soldiers as “losers” and suckers”. Though several former Trump administration officials have said the report chimes with their knowledge, the president described it as a “totally made-up story” and demanded: “Who would say a thing like that? Only an animal would say a thing like that.”
Voter suppression: how Trump is undermining the US election – video explainer
Trump also claimed that he was “taking the high road” by not meeting House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer to discuss a coronavirus stimulus package. “I don’t need to meet with them to be turned down,” he said.
“They don’t want to make a deal because they think if the country does as badly as possible … that’s good for the Democrats. I am taking the high road. I’m taking the high road by not seeing them.”
Then someone lit the blue touchpaper by asking about the Russia investigation. “They spied on my campaign, and that includes Biden and Obama!” Trump fumed, suddenly animated by the conspiracy theory. “If we did what they did, you would have many people in jail right now.”
And when asked if he would support an investigation into allegations against Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, the president added: “Yeah, if something can be proven that he did something wrong, always. They’ve been looking at me for four years, they found nothing.
“Four years, think of it. For four years. From the day I came down the escalator, I’ve been under investigation by sleaze. And they found nothing. They found nothing. A friend of mine said you have to be the most innocent, honorable man to ever hold the office of president.”
Trump also spared some venom for Harris, insisting that “she will never be president, although I have to be careful because Obama used to say that about me, so I have to be a little bit careful. But you have to look at her a little bit more closely because obviously Joe’s not doing too well.”
Polling, however, shows Biden continuing to enjoy a steady lead on Trump. Standing at the front door of the White House two months before election day, the president sounded like a desperate man, as if firing a machine-gun in all directions like Al Pacino’s Tony Montana under siege at his luxury mansion in Scarface. The election might go the same way.
