Solar return chart observations (2019)

Scorpio rising at 29 degrees

🌪️That year was my most traumatic year.

🌪️There were countless transformations (mostly endings and also new life-changing beginnings) in that year.

🌪️I lost many friends. I got gossiped by the whole class. The whole class didn’t talk to me. I was slut-shamed and they even spread rumors about me being pregnant while I was just gaining some weight. I was notorious with bad reputation in my school. My first love left me. I tried to run away with my first love. My parents caught me and grounded me for several months. I was literally in solitude. I had no one by my side. Both emotionally and physically. I can even write a whole damn book about this year.😭

🌪️However, I learned how to stay alone happily in that year. (It was not an option. The universe was like BAM you need to encounter THIS to achieve THIS success or whatsoever😃).

🌪️My whole personality before and after that year was so different that no one couldn’t recognize me after that year when I went back to school.

Moon in 1st house conjuncts ascendant (in Sagittarius at 0 degrees)

🌪️Maybe due to these traumatic events, my emotions were running high all the time.

🌪️Even though I tried to hide my pain and act like a typical scary silent scorpio rising, people still attacked me because I looked so vulnerable.

🌪️I cried almost everyday in that year.

🌪️Also I gained weight like A LOT MY FACE WAS LIKE AN ENORMOUS MEAT DUMPLING👹👹👹

**I also notice that I gained weight so easily last year when I had scorpio rising even though my moon was in 7th house in Taurus. Might be because of Taurus moon but Idk, scorpio rising year scares me hell a lot now.😺**

Jupiter in 1st house (in Sagittarius at 18 degrees)

🌪️I gained tons of weight because of my only coping mechanism : binge eating and also due to covid and quarantine.

🌪️I felt like food was the only escape in my life and I gained like 60 lbs.🤦🏻‍♀️

🌪️However, I had lucky academic opportunities.

🌪️I had to change my tuition because everyone including the teachers slut-shamed me and only because of that transformation, I finished high school with high marks and now I’m in medical school.

🌪️Thanks to my new teachers from new tuition and also those stupid bitches who believed everything they heard without clearly thinking as grown-up adults.😍

Saturn conjunct Pluto in 2nd house (in Capricorn)

🌪️My self-esteem declined so low that I rarely even went out in that year.

🌪️I felt like no one wanted me and I questioned about my worth like thousand times.

🌪️Throughout the year, transformations related to self-worth and self-love questioned my existence.

🌪️I was always thinking like “do I even deserve to eat this or go to this or be friends with them?” every damn time my mom asked me what I needed and every time someone approached me.

Neptune and Lilith in 4th house (in Pisces)

🌪️My whole family was very confused about me.

🌪️They even thought I was possessed by some ghost because I acted very unusual eg I couldn’t control my anger and I kinda self-sabotaged and I just bursted out and cried so suddenly when I was at home (that was just my trauma response I mean I don’t really know how they expected me to act after all those punishment they gave me and personal attacks received from my ex-mates)😺.

🌪️My parents kept really close eyes on me because they were worried that I would commit su-ici-de and they also had their respective assumptions about me but at the same time, they also outcasted me and thought I was really a slut who slept with lots of men because I did many reckless things without thinking about consequences.

🌪️I also often had intense vivid dreams and nightmares.

🌪️I was addicted to vapes and used them secretly in my room in that year.

🌪️So effed up🔫

Chiron in 5th house (in Aries)

🌪️My first love broke my heart.

🌪️My first serious heartbreak.

🌪️I had to take about 9 months to fully move on from him.

🌪️My inner child got hurt and my creativity and self-expression left my soul in that year.

🌪️I lost my silly child-like spirit in that year.

Uranus in 6th house (in Taurus at 5 degrees)

🌪️At first I was planning to study really hard to prepare for my matriculation exam but due to covid, there were huge unexpected changes in my routines and habits.

🌪️My plans got ruined.

Venus in 7th house conjuncts Amor (in Gemini)

🌪️Amor asteroid represents soulmate.

🌪️I met my first love and fell in love with him like a fool.

🌪️Everyone warned me because they saw red flags🚩🚩🚩🚩but I was blindly in love and was like “I’m gonna marry him”😭😭.*dies of embarrassment*

🌪️That was my first time that I gave actual commitment to someone and I felt like he was my soulmate.

🌪️I couldn’t let go of him for so long.

🌪️I wrote songs about him.

🌪️I wrote short stories about him.

🌪️It was bitter-sweet but now it’s just a memory.🌌

🌪️My main focus was on relationships relationships RELATIONSHIPS and I strongly desired to build meaningful social connections rather than superficial ones in that year.

🌪️My hidden enemies also pulled their masks off lmao I had to deal with them the whole year because they kept saying things about me that I didn’t even know I did.😩

Mercury conjunct mars in 8th house (in Cancer)

🌪️I remember that I was fully in my hermit mode the year I had this placement.

🌪️I searched articles about how to attack those arseholes spiritually but didn’t really take an action because I believed in karma.🧘🏻‍♀️

🌪️I was always reading books about magic, detective, occult and death and I even thought about committing a su-ici-de because I was severely depressed.

🌪️I was alone but also so blunt (I think I was just trying to protect myself) every time someone tried to befriend me.

🌪️I cursed a lot and my anger issues were like high up in the sky that one time, the wall cracked because I punched while I was angry and I’m just A GIRL🎀💕🥰).

Vertex in 9th house (in Leo at 15 degrees)

🌪️Maybe because of all of this, I started to pray to Buddha every single day in that year.

🌪️I suddenly became so religious and I felt like I only had him by my side.

🌪️My beliefs about religion expanded and I started to learn about other religions too in that year.

🌪️Also fated events occurred at my school so yeah vertex can say a lot about your upcoming year.

🌪️Sex education and vapes and drugs might be normal for teenagers in western countries but in my country, they’re like really taboo topics and parents biggest nightmare was their drug addict children getting pregnant😭.

🌪️Almost everyone did not dare to discuss about those openly in those days.

🌪️Also I was just 14 at that time so it��s not my parents’ fault that they stopped me and restricted me too much but however, their punishment was directed in a wrong way and that’s why I had to find other ways to suppress my pain. I don’t know who to blame, myself or those so-called friends or my parents😭.

So in conclusion, it was a very hard year and very life-changing and unforgettable but it shaped me into who I am today so I’m really happy to receive all of those new experiences. English is not my first language so please bear with me if I made some mistakes.🫰🏼💕

Musical-loving Americana Cannibals AND the cesspit angel getting his comeuppance? Why thank you!

SPOILERS for Hazbin Hotel Ep. 7-8

What I suspected with Lucifer’s reaction was true; most demons just don’t know exorcist features well enough to recognize an angel without wings.

Also, I have wondered because Vaggie and Carmilla look similar - is Carmilla also an angel? Her eyes and facial features especially made me wonder, and may explain her gathering up of weapons and refusal to start a war.

It was cool to see these two have another duet, this time face-to-face. It matched the theme of protecting who they loved, and without being a reprise!

And now… the big stuff!

Alastor unhinged! Loved his lack of voice when his cane broke, and his reaction. But ooooh boy, I really fear for Charlie with his meltdown. Her favor’s going to be devastating with how Alastor is taking his almost death. Also due to a note below, maybe he isn’t owned by Lilith after all.

Imagine still arguing 10,000 years later over your ex-wife (and maybe ex-wife to both?). Love the little white auras around them.

Short Duck Daddy better make good on all the caviar mountains promised! All the revamps and coverage is about to make this place lit.

Why???

Oh.

Because.

Congrats, Sir Pentious! An excellent run as a lovable, ascended extra. I hope we get more of him though!

I mean, I’m hoping between seasons this is reported on like crazy. The hotel took on Heaven, sent them packing, got a giant update, AND Charlie’s redemption theory is true?! What sinner wouldn’t want that?

A few interesting implications so far:

A sinner can only go to Heaven upon a death in Hell, aka judgement only occurs at death. This makes it analogous to the situation people on Earth face.

Death via a noble cause is what grants you entrance to Heaven. This could be another way some questionable people end up there

Angels and demons may be the same race, only affected by the respective environment in terms of powers. Sir Pentious has very minor changes when we see him redeemed.

Death in the afterlife is not the end if you now qualify for the opposite team?! A crazy loophole if this is true.

Who is excited to see Adam, who died, rejudged to Hell since he died again? Bonus points if he is in the hotel or cavorting with the BIG baddies in Season 2.

And Emily is the cutest thing ahshsjaisd

This will be fun to see progress. I wonder if we’ll get to see God or a big good in this series. Also, maybe Emily is Eve? Idk there’s so many possibilities and we really could have had 20 more episodes.

Finally, Adam had a deal with…

Lilith?! And Lute’s going to be first in command of the exorcists now.

Also, we don’t actually know where this lovely beach is. It feels to me like a private beach, in-between Heaven and Hell, tucked away in an inconspicuous corner that was always there.

So, did Lilith leave Lucifer for Adam? Maybe she decided that our depressed duck demon was too much and at least gritting her teeth and being by Adam’s side was productive? I expected Lilith to show up, but not with Lute knowing about a deal she made.

Now to hunker down and await Season 2! Vivienne and Co., it’s been an honor to analyze and theorize with all the fun goodies. Thank you for making this dream come true and sharing it!

I will genuinely be so mad if Lilith and Lucifer’s dynamic is portrayed as (presently) healthy in season 2 and onward. I say presently because I do think that in the past they probably had a healthier relationship than whatever's going on now.

Because Hazbin fans are Hazbin fans, let me clear something up: I don't think Lucifer and Lilith's relationship was always toxic. That is made abundantly clear in both the first few minutes of Overture and in the pictures (paintings?) Lucifer has in his room. However, I think currently and possibly for the rest of time, their relationship can't be healthy.

Lucifer and Lilith are king and queen of Hell respectively. Lilith ditched to hang out in Heaven, essentially leaving Lucifer to rule Hell on his own because that's not Charlie's responsibility yet. Like she just up and left him to rule Hell and make sure Charlie was doing okay for 7 years (as Charlie specifically mentions that she hasn't talked to Lilith in 7 years. Frankly this also tells me she's not a great mom).

Lilith is implied to have literally pulled Charlie and Lucifer apart. You can literally see his heart break in pieces as Lilith walks away with Charlie in her arms during the flashback scene in More Than Anything.

Do you really think Lucifer would be happy to hear Lilith was chilling in Heaven for however long doing nothing? You know, the place that caused him so much trauma he panicked when Charlie brought up talking to them??

Might be a stretch, idk, but I wouldn't be surprised if Lilith shaped Charlie's view of Lucifer. Charlie mentions that Lucifer doesn't want to see her unless it's to get something from her, but we can see quite clearly in Dad Beat Dad that that's very much not the case and Lucifer does want to see her. Speaking from experience, as well as bringing up Lucifer's autism coding, depression and autistic burnout (both of which Lucifer seem to be experiencing when he's first properly introduced) can make it hard to do things you actually want to do; hell, it comes off like he only makes rubber ducks to pass the time at that point because he throws one and says "Who am I kidding, this sucks!"

I do not see a possible way Lucifer and Lilith can have a healthy relationship. Her behavior reminds me way too much of my own mom, who I haven't seen in probably around a decade at this point. Similarly Lucifer reminds me somewhat of my dad. The dynamic between these two hits too close to home because my parents are also separated because their relationship was toxic. Lucifer deserves so much better than Lilith yall.

Ok sorry about that now back to your regularly scheduled program: A!au toh au when??

Yeah hi I was bored n thinking about this idea and also wanted to do a style study for toh, (ignore that I had to use bases for the bodies I couldn’t draw them😭 my lines where too shaky I’m not the best at tracing stuff so I cheated a tiny bit) I had originally thought of this idea ages ago in a doodle where they all went to hexide and it was more a high school au if anything but now that the show is further along I thought of a more fleshed out idea for this hypothetical au!

Technically this could count as just a regular Ahit toh au BUT I based it off of ideas and hcs in aau so yeah I’m sticking with that

Also the characters aren’t one to one with toh characters it’s more just a “how would these characters and their story translate over to toh universe” thing but most characters can be tied to a toh character as being based on/in the role of if that makes sense like I said it’s a bit of a mixing pot with the characters

Uh yeah info about the basic idea for the characters/story:

The whole story with prince and Vanessa instead of prince getting locked in a cellar to die van curses him instead, but somehow idk how yet he ends up turning the tables and splitting the curse with her. I like the idea that prince is from his respective time period as Ahit and falls through a time pool so we get the same concept of this guy is old and from a long time ago just with skipping over the death ghost part so yeah he gets sent to present Snatcher is basically the eda character he has the curse and takes elixir (which I hc is blue bc haha Ahit reference)

If it’s not obvious from her design Vanessa is the belos of this au lol Probably instead of the emperors coven it’s something like the Queen’s court? I think it’s got a neat ring? Anyway yeah uh not much to say about her she’s basically the same lol, also I like the idea she uses illusions to hide her appearance and also to manipulate mj and the citizens 👀

mj is basically a combo of s2 Lilith and Hunter! He’s a grimwalker made by Vanessa to replace prince basically he’s made to be her perfect fairy tale Prince Charming that loves her and would never ever betray her <oblivious But yeah same idea as Hunter of being made as a clone of someone else BUT they’ve got a more similar role to Lilith in which they end up befriending the main cast and living with them Also included their “golden gaurd” design not sure what to call it? Moon prince? Moon something idk lol you guys might could help with that but yeah that’s the fit they got when with van also we got blood Amy too in which Vanessa gives her curse to mj after finding his palismen (she eats them belos style ofc lol) speaking of I still need to draw the palismen but I have some cool ideas!

Dels idk what to say besides uh she lives with snatcher n we still got the qpr going ofc lol sorry I don’t got much on her 💔 though I DID consider making her a star child to go with the twilight god thing but I also considered making eclipse a star child because the design is similar plus gives an excuse for him to be here without the fusion plus I think Vanessa using eclipse sounds cool it makes sense he’s prince in canon so like ofc she’s drawn to him but yeah still thinking about that

Time twins are our luz stand in, hc timmys jacket is snatchers like luzs jacket is eras bc I think it’s cute lol dont question why he has it idk I didn’t have the time pool idea at the time and bow is kinda like the willow/gus of the group and mu is the amity? Mu being a bully at first until joining the friend group n stuff and bow being the sweet straight man to the rests antics

Drawing time twins with round ears was cursed Anyway mu is a hybrid still, She’s half witch half eberwolf species! Cooking cat and Sam get to be her bio parents here instead of adopted so that’s cool

Shapes is the Vee stand in and omg they where really fun to design

I like the idea of the changelings/council being titan trappers? Considering they’re a cult? I think it sounds cool so maybe like shapes sneaks in with a disguise or like the trappers take them in or the trappers are basilisk in this universe? Idk considering no one in the cast is a titan it wouldnt really make sense so like maybe they are basilisk or basilisk hunters? Still chewing on the council lol sorry

Sorry I’ve been putting it off BUT curses!: basically same logic as canon they go by eda and belos logic respectively so van is a creepy skeleton cryptid ass monster and snatcher is a animal beast! BUT he’s not a bird like eda or Lilith ,and also not a snake though that would fit in being a more obvious choice, he’s ACTUALLY a ferret! Mostly bc I thought it was funny but it stuck lol they are furry and noodly so it works, plus I’m a sucker for the monster has innocent name but is actually terrifying trope lol, also idk about blood moon? They get cursed yeah but I don’t think they get transformed into anything mostly bc I have no ideas for them lol plus it’s more focused on the illusion hypnosis whatever abd not the curse itself

Anyway on to covens/magic specialties! Intro

Hi! Making a little introduction for my blog <3

You can call me Ruby. I’m 19 years old, I use she/her pronouns and I’m a lesbian. I’m also neurodivergent (though for privacy reasons I won’t be indicating exactly what I have). I speak both Spanish and English (with Spanish being my native tongue). I love Hazbin Hotel and this blog is entirely dedicated to this show that has taken over my life. I watched the pilot in the summer of 2020 so I’ve been here for a long while, but I didn’t get properly obsessed until the show released :)

As one could have imagined seeing my icon, header, username, blog description and general posts, I love chaggie so much, they're my favourite part of the show (as characters and as a ship). I do love the rest of the show too, they’re just my faves.

My favorite characters are, in order: Vaggie, Charlie (very unexpected top 2 I know /s, I love them <33), Lute, Emily (my other two faves!!!), Velvette, Carmilla, Rosie, Niffty and sir Pentious. That being said, I like almost every character. Though I mainly talk about Charlie and Vaggie because #brainrot, you may expect any other character too, specially the aforementioned.

Chaggie is my absolute OTP and around 80% of my posts will be about them. Some other pairings I also love are emilute, fallenwings, huskerdust, guitarspear, royalhalo, velmilla, zestmilla, qpr poly!!Vees, qpr radiorose and cherrisnake. I adore the idea of Charlie's angels as an OT4 because I love throwing all my favorite characters into a ship and imagining the chaos that would follow 👍🏻

I tend to tag absolutely every character and ship I post/reblog about, so if anything here makes you uncomfortable don't hesitate to blacklist it :)

I'm interested in many other things, namely Project Sekai!, BanG Dream!, D4DJ, Love Live!, Vocaloid (specially the Evillious Chronicles series and the Night∞Series), Helluva Boss, RWBY, Red vs. Blue, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, The Dragon Prince, The Owl House, Steven Universe, Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Legend of Korra, Five Nights at Freddy's, Monster High, Ever After High, Rainbow High, Madoka Magica, Kakegurui, Danganronpa, Your Turn To Die, Sanrio, Cookie Run, Heathers, Les Miserables, etc. I'm not completely up to date with all these things though, uni sucks. I might make another blog to talk about this stuff eventually but I'd want to keep this blog focused on Hazbin!

I don't tend to do DNIs because I understand bigots don't tend to respect them, but well, if you're someone that discriminates others on the basis of anything and I find out, I'll block you. When it comes to Hazbin Hotel, I don't want to interact with you if you ship Valentino X Angel, Lucifer or Lilith X Charlie, Vaggie X men or Angel X women, those things really make me uncomfortable.

As a note, I’m extremely anxious and shy, so it’s difficult for me to DM people first, but I assure you I’m nice and if you wanna chat I’m extremely down for it! Please let’s talk about our favorite characters and ships and plot points and moments pspsps or even things outside Hazbin Hotel, whatever you want :)

SORRY THIS BECAME LONG.] follow-up thoughts on the divorced beatrice lilith spiderman point emotions over ava: ive been turning it around my head and i think. the two of them kinda just ended up shrug emoji-ing on ava turning out to be in both their lives? which feels kinda a copout answer bc im also SO shrug emoji about it, but, also, Really Tho.

like they definitely had a "ava is an adult who can decide what she wants" convo but the point of it became If ava wants to Pick someone and stop fucking/flirting with the other for monogamy feeling reasons they'll just respect that, But Until Then.

(i say shrug emoji convo as if it was so chill between them and not like the only reason nobody throttled anyone is their sheer grip on parental responsibility)

because. its not like they could argue "Who Got Here First" or "the relationship im having with ava is more valid than yours"? its kinda weird, it doesnt seem their style

(and Theyre Still Friends, for all that they feel like biting (non-sexy) their ex-wife, seeing the other being happy/having fun and feeling content with that is in their marrows now, i mean. gestures at their amicable divorce bc they know they fuck each other up. there IS Love there, it just didnt fit quite right.)

theres also smth about.... sharing is not the right word but like. theyre both kinda abysmal at letting people Into their lives in more than just a surface skim?

a therapist could tell them its probably not healthy to have the same pool of friends but when you grew up side by side like they had, yeah well. and. honestly? odds were high that the only people that can Deal with lilith's everything are also the same people that can deal with beatrice's so why not.

like a venn diagram with beatrice and lilith except it turns out to be a circle. so. "Oh, ava silva is in both our lives" probably never really seemed too strange or off-putting to their brains beyond the initial kneejerk What Do You Mean We Want To Fuck The Same Person!!!!!!!

please never dial it back I am eating this up. you're so right on the venn diagram of people lilith and bea can tolerate being a circle, they're absolutely so deeply intertwined that their lives can't be picked apart with the divorce (and not that they'd WANT that, because they're each other's best friend, too, whether or not they're married)

I know you said on Twitter your least favorite joke in TOH is the joke from Edge of the World about the head Titan hunter being named Bill. My least favorite TOH joke is from Escaping Expulsion, when Gus suggests they cast illusions of "lady guards" to distract the guards and Willow is like "this isn't a cartoon from the 40s!" Firstly because, why would Gus make that suggestion? Who says the guards are heterosexual men? The Boiling Isles feels pretty gender and sexuality neutral so that's a strange assumption on his part. Second of all why is Willow referencing something from Earth that she would have no way of knowing about aside from maybe Luz, except why would Luz tell her about cartoons from the 40s? Third of all, the whole joke is just brimming with this smug aura of 'look everyone, we're so progressive, we're NOT going to do this trope that we COULD do because we're not a cartoon from the 40s!' Like, if you have to pat yourself on the back for not writing something worse then maybe your writing isn't actually that good. You know? IDK, it's such a small moment so it's weird that it bothers me as much as it does but I feel like it's a microcosm of a lot of my issues with TOH's writing. Anyway, any thoughts on that joke or TOH's joke writing in general? 🦎

There is... a lot to be said about the humor of TOH. I actually covered, theoretically, one problem in a blog about the male characters in TOH. That blog is relevant to this because 80% of TOH's comedy is predicated on the misery of some sort of the designated comic relief characters. In S1, this is pretty much entirely male. In S2, Lilith joins these ranks but not as the straight man she was in S1 (the comedy term, not the sexuality) but as just... The same sort of gag character everyone else is.

This designation of comic relief also commonly comes with only being allowed one or two main jokes that will be used over and over again in someway to make the character look like a fool. Now slapstick is fine and I like stuff like Randy Cunningham so I can enjoy it. The problem with TOH's comedy writing is that it's not creative, interesting and kind of eventually gets very obvious. As such, it becomes incredibly boring.

This is almost entirely why I found King to be a boring character for the entirety of S1. He just... isn't a character. He's two jokes that aren't very different from each other. A child trying to be taken seriously or an animal that is trying to have the respect of a human. Both degrade him, both have him acting the fool, both have him looking stupid, etc. like that and because he is the comedic backbone of the main trio in theory, these jokes are repeated somewhere close to a BILLION TIMES.

But... All of those lead to comedy that is for the most part boring. Without the actual interplay of characters, the comedy feels superfluous. It's like anything that relies on its comic relief to be able to claim to be a comedy rather than actually having that comedy weave in and out of the piece naturally. An untold amount of meh animated movies have this exact problem so it's nothing new even if people somehow don't understand that it is a problem.

But let's talk about the other 20% with the two jokes discussed in your ask! Both of them are in line with the fact that when the show isn't using slapstick, it's subversion. Namely, subversion of cartoon and fantasy tropes. The only problem is that it seems to think it's revolutionary for subverting tropes DECADES old... When they've either entirely fallen out of fashion or the sorts of subversion they're doing have been done for... decades as well almost.

Because distracting the guards by dressing in drag isn't something modern cartoons play straight anymore. They'll either see through the disguise, call them ugly, not be of the same species, etc. like that. And all of those are more of a joke than just calling out the fact that it's a trope and then that's it. That's the joke. Which isn't funny or clever. It's just an observation that begs the question of "Okay, and? We weren't treating you as a show from the 40s. Are we supposed to?"

As a tangent though: That whole conversation is a mess. You pointed out all the world building issues with it but let's just talk about who does what. Gus is weirdly the only character IN CHARACTER as they discuss this plan. Top Student Amity wants to go in and FIGHT EVERYONE while Willow, who has never shown any real cleverness with her magic, just overwhelming brute force, is the one to suggest actually being sneaky with a magical solution while also being the one to scold Gus the hardest. Admittedly, I don't agree with people who think Willow suppresses her emotions so her speaking up is in character but how overly mean she is about it feels like it was written for Amity but it was boarded wrong or something.

The other major issue in both jokes though, much more in the one I hate most, is the feeling of smugness. That the show obviously thinks it's incredibly clever for the joke. I mean, just how weird are fantasy names? Balthazar? Magnus? Tarik?

Oh, wait, TOH actually used that last one. And the others are rooted in cultures not in America so treating as entirely fantastical nowadays is just kind of being an asshole. I mean, how many Japanese or Arabic names are going to sound weird to an American, where 'Christopher' is about as complex or interesting as our first names get? So maybe you shouldn't judge so quickly.

But that's not the point anyways. It's that so many OTHER fantasy shows take themselves so seriously with these names or ideas or leaders and look how 'funny' it is when they're named something like Bill! Or they're actually a stoner! Aren't we a riot?

And there's never thought beyond that. Of how it clashes with the narrative which is the REAL reason I DESPISE the Bob joke. Unlike something like the Bile Sacs, something that is used as a subversive joke that fucks up the magic system in some way because they'll never get brought back up again... Bob fucks up his episode.

Theoretically, the tension of the episode is whether or not these people are good and if King should be with them to find out about his culture. The first time "Bill" is uttered out of Tarik's mouth, the show just hard pauses for a second, as if to allow for the snickers to die down, before Luz even straight up asks if it's short for something. They straight up spend 15 seconds of the episode destroying any possible gravitas this character has.

Which is an immediate sign. If these characters were actually meant to be a dilemma from a character standpoint, they'd be taken seriously. They could be silly but their culture would matter. Their leaders would matter. In fifteen seconds, for the sake of a joke they're obviously so proud of, at the ten minute mark so we have half the episode left...

The audience knows the truth. They're grifters or bad men in some way and King and Luz shouldn't trust them. All for fifteen seconds for a bad joke that's not original in the slightest.

And for anyone who thinks we're thinking too hard about these jokes: That's not our problem. Okay, it absolutely is my problem, I overthink most things, but in general, if we're questioning jokes this much... The show has failed. In some way, the joke has broken the suspension of disbelief and now I'm not watching something I'm invested in, I'm instead aware of it being a construct and kid's show. And because of the egotism, it demands higher scrutiny the moment that happens. I've talked about this problem with TOH before. And comedy suffers the most from it because TOH doesn't do rapid fire comedy. It wants its jokes to be gut busters. It's REALLY confident in a lot of them, especially the more ego put into the joke. And... I'm sorry. While TOH does constitute deserving the comedy genre title, it's just not a great comedy. It's fine at best usually but it doesn't have variety and it's usually not clever. Does it sometimes manage a great one? I would hope so since it's literally listed as a comedy. But if you want something unique and that deserves to think of itself as a gut buster, you're going to have look for something that tries harder than this. (and of course as a caveat to ALL of this: I prefer British style of humor and interplay which takes a lot more sarcasm, back and forth, etc. like that so I'm a bit predisposed to not being hit as hard by it as others. Comedy is so subjective though that that's why I tried to stick to kind of the general, structural and presentation issues with the comedy rather than whether the jokes themselves are good or not.) ======

I doubt that show will touch on this topic, but i d like to see Hunter struggling with his old habits and mentality (kinda like Lilith does/did).

Maybe it could show as him not talking any breaks from the research on how to return to demon realm or human realm to keep everyone extra safe. (Or later post-canon) But in an unhealthy way afraid to dissapoint his friends.

And Amity would pick up on that and either have a talk with him or the rest of kids sharing their adventure in EE "cuz there is nothing worse than dissapointing someone who thinks you are special". (That could also lead to amity talking about her experiences etc)

Obviously that would be just a part of his reason non-existent most of the time only appearing in worst times. Idk im just a big fan of gradual improvment that also shows how big of an impact had past on the character.

I absolutely could see something similar like that happening, given that the show has already touched on characters struggling to break free of their unhealthy mindset even after they've escaped from the environment that enforced it. (Lilith and Amity.)

I could see that kind of mentality being linked to the grimwalker thing. The deep insecurity over his powerless status is imbedded deep in Hunter's core but now its mutated into a different kind of identity crisis. How can he be somebody worth caring about if he doesn't even know what he is? It makes it a lot harder to understand himself and calculate his own worth so he's putting in twice the effort just so prove to himself that he's good for something.

I really believe that this season is gonna heavily focus on the Luz and Hunter dynamic. And like we know Luz is kinda in mental ruins right now so I could honestly see both of them slipping into similar unhealthy behavior, maybe even enabling each other. (Unintentionally obviously. But hmm...)

But ultimately this could be the thing that snaps Hunter out of it is really seeing himself in Luz. He sees her working herself to exhaustion, desperate to make things right so she feels like she has the right to exist and its like. It's fine when he's ruining himself but seeing it from an outside perspective is really what makes him realize how Bad this is. So he's suckered into improving himself because if he's gonna support Luz, he needs to lead by example.

(Episodes like ASIAS and Labyrinth Runners really emphasise that seeing his own insecurity in someone else really helps Hunter to process his feelings and truly see that it's not healthy.)

That being said I'd love some more Hunter and Amity interaction. I don't know if the topic of their similarities in the form of inferiority complexes will ever be revisited after they really emphasised it in Eclipse Lake but it'd be nice if they did.

I think it'd be cool if their common ground in season 3 is their similar relationship with their dad/tentative father figure(?) Like both Amity and Hunter have had a very strained relationship with Alador and Darius respectively until very recently. So their feelings must be conflicted. It's a lot for a kid to really comprehend so maybe they'd have an easier time if they talked it over with each other.

#while i can imagine a bit of unhealthy behavior and angst on hunters part because thats just his brand #i honestly believe that hes gonna be the group's rock this season #in every hunter episode the other kids have taught him something that changed him for thr better #so it would be sweet if he spends this season teaching them in return

I wanted to say that I also agree with both intakes and those who overall theorize that the person/entity that owns Alastor's soul is either Eve or Roo.

Honestly, Idk if Eve and Roo are different or the same. Maybe they started as two separate entities, but after Eve ate the forbidden apple, they slowly became one. Kind of like how it seemed that Roo was an entity and not just a concept, what allowed Roo to get released in the physical world was the ingestion and possession of Eve… or maybe I'm just sippling.

Anyway, I think the main reason why I feel am not Alastor's contractor is because I just have this feeling that she is not a threat. The show makes it seem as if she was sort of conspiring against hell, but it does not make sense to me for a person who was basically that face of the resistance to sort of be a threat to Charlie and hell in general. She seems sketchy, not going to lie, and that whole thing of both Lilith and Alastor disappearing at the same time is highly suspicious, but idk… maybe I'm crazing but I do not feel such animosity from Alastor to Lilith.

One could look at Al's reaction to Lucifer as maybe a remainder to whom he may a deal (if it was Lilith), besides the obvious of him maybe threatening his position at the hotel. But if that was the case, I would think he would not act the way he does with Charlie. Yes, it can be argued that acts that way because he is trying to manipulate Charlie into something regarding the deal (probably… he is but we are uncertain of what he might really go for with the deal he made), but it just does not add. He might have a soft spot for women, but it does not add that he acted mildly with Charlie (the daughter of the person who owns his soul, in this scenario) when just the mention of him being on a leash had him losing his cool like he did with Husk in ep5. It does not add that he had a mental breakdown because he might have almost gotten attached and risked his life for this group of people (also because he might have overestimated his powers, and we do not exactly know how much the deal restricts him in terms of power). I totally see him working alongside her because he must gain what he has, but I just do not see it being so "friendly" with her. Or maybe I am just underestimating his acting skills.

My point is that (at least in my head, and the way I interpreted the situation) I see more possibility that Eve/Roo/something else is the one holding Al's soul and not Lilith. Now, again, it is really weird that both of them went away at the same time. My theory is that, somewhere along the lines (sometime after Al's made the deal maybe) both he and Lilith partner to maybe stop Eve/Roo or Eve/Roo made Al and Lilith confront in a way that made Lilith having to seek shelter in Heaven, and Alastor to go away. But I feel it was Lilith who might have asked Alastor to watch/help Charlie, and he might have agreed because it is convenient as well… and maybe because it was also Eve/Roo's order…

IDK maybe he is a double spy, and despite all this, he is trying to seek the perfect opportunity which is going to give him the chance to "move all the strings". I also headcanon that both might have a level of respect for one another but that is just a crazy thought of mine because they haven't even interacted so… idk

ALRIGHT IM HERE! I know this has been sitting in my inbox for the past week, but I'm here now and ready to get into it!

I've never considered the possibility that Eve and Roo are the same, but hmmm, thinking about it, I'm not so sure. In the opening of the show, it's said that evil already exists.

Angels shielded all from Evil. So, Roo (the literal Root of all Evil) will have existed long before Eve was even created. If she were using Eve as a host, however... ◉_◉ As being the first one to let evil into the world being the gateway (for a lack of better word) and Roo taking advantage of that...

It was Adam and Eve eating the apple that allowed evil to find it's way to Earth.

Like, the phrasing here says it all. "For with this single act of disobedience, evil FINALLY found its way into Earth."

So not only has evil existed for a long time, it's implied that it's been trying to find a way to get to Earth. (Also, the Roo theory brain is taking over, this whole scene, with these black tendrils growing, turning into a hand, and curling around Earth, do those not resemble roots to anyone? I'd gif it if I knew how, but it literally looks like roots growing up and wrapping themselves around humanity. ROOT OF ALL EVIL, come on, the symbolism is there.)

And with Alastor, I truly think he cares more than he wants. I think he cares more than he expected to. I know there's a lot of people who just do NOT think he does, and that he's going to be the big bad (or at least an antagonist), and while I don't disagree about the antagonist part (I can see him being an obstacle to get in their way), I just think there's going to be more to his character arc. I don't think he's just going to manipulate the hotel, betray everyone, and get all the power he's ever wanted and that's IT.

For one, as any writer knows, stories need conflict. Characters need conflict. One could argue that Alastor's deal is his conflict, but I think his true conflict is going to be getting attached to Charlie and co. and not wanting to. i think he's going to fight it tooth and nail, but I think, in the end, he's going to be their ally (or as much of an ally as he can be considering someone--most likely the actual antagonist of the show--has his soul).

And I agree with you about his relationship with Charlie. We can already see that he's a good at manipulating. The "Dad Beat Dad" episode gave us numerous examples of him using his relationship with Charlie (saying things like "We're all very proud of her," and that he's "happy to fulfill her bizarre requests") to get under Lucifer's skin, while Charlie is shown to whole-heartedly believe him. He IS a manipulator and he knows how to pin-point that insecurity to get what he wants.)

However, there's also examples in the show where he was kind and considerate to Charlie when he literally didn't need to be. There was no reason or benefit to him for doing so.

One example would be him going with her to assist in getting the cannibals help. He didn't need to do this. He got what he wanted. He officially has a deal with Charlie. He gave her the information she needs in exchange for a favor, there's no reason to linger. But he does, and not only does he freely suggest Cannibal Town, but he's going WITH her to recruit their help.

When Charlie is talking to Rosie to get said help, she's frantic and stumbling over herself, and Alastor pipes in to help her. Later, when Charlie is singing her song to convince the cannibals, he pipes in again (when it's obvious they're not entirely on board) to include that they'll get to eat angels, which is the tipping point that gets the town interested. And another time during that same song when he said "he knew she could do it all along." Charlie wasn't there, so who was he supposed to be manipulating in that scenario?

Rosie? As if Rosie doesn't already know Alastor's whole schtick, she was literally telling him about souls he could go make deals with earlier in the episode. Demons who are in a territory that they can't properly defend, which would make them desperate. Easy pickings to manipulate a few into giving up their souls.

He had faith in Charlie getting the cannibals to join and even helped her along every step of the way.

And that's not even mentioning the fact that he has literally let her use his cane twice. His cane, which Vivzepop has said is like an extension of himself. We haven't seen him let anyone else in the series touch his cane. Hell, he didn't even need to offer his cane in the first place, the microphone she was using earlier was still right there.

One could argue he was trying to get the cannibals to help so they could defend the hotel and have a better chance at, you know, NOT dying. But there's multiple times when he does things he didn't have to do, because there was literally no benefit of it to him. But he did.

Because I think he's more attached than he wants to believe.

Where was I...I went on an Alastor tangent.

But yes! The way I see it right now, I can see Roo going after Lillith because Lillith empowered demonkind.

Lucifer may the the ultimate ruler of Hell, but it's obvious that he didn't really...interact much with the rest of Hell. At least from what we've seen. He was ashamed of what he did and lost his will to dream.

He fell into depression. I think when he and Lillith had Charlie, it really did make him happy. I think it brought him out of his depression for a bit, but depression doesn't just...go away. At least not for everyone. And we do see that something had to happen between him and Lillith to result in them splitting up, AND something had to happen to him and Charlie to result in them not seeing each other for long periods of time, to the point of Charlie not even wanting to call him for help when she could really use it.

Guys been in depression for a while, and I can't see him getting involved with Hell, which he's ashamed of creating at all. I can see him being more than happy to step aside for Lillith to handle it herself. I don't think Roo would see him as much of a threat so long as he's not getting involved.

Because as the show says:

She literally EMPOWERED demonkind. Hell grew and evolved, and it became so much more. It became powerful enough for Heaven to not only take notice, but to get worried.

Lillith has MUCH more of an impact in Hell. She has more reach and authority, and I can see Roo being intimidated and/or threatened by that. There's a lot Roo (the Root of All Evil) can do in Hell, where the sinners and wicked go--those who commit evil acts. This should be her PLAYGROUD. But it's Lillith who has authority here.

So maybe Roo needed to get her out of the way? And how much farther can she get Lillith from Hell then having her go to Heaven?

I definitely think there's a connection between Alastor and Lillith. Maybe Lillith did enlist Alastor for his help. Maybe Roo already got Alastor's soul and he helped her, in some way, get Lillith to go to Heaven. I don't know what the connection is, but I'm so eager to find out.

(Also, can we all talk about how Lillith empowered demonkind with her voice, her songs, and Charlie is out here singing every time she wants to help Hell--when she first got the meeting with Adam, when she's trying to convince Adam of her plan, her song with Pentious, etc... And when Rosie asks how she typically tries to get people interested in her hotel, she does so by singing. All of her songs are about love, redemption, being better, working together, almost as if she's trying to empower demonkind with her voice too.)

I think we should talk more about not only what Charlie gets from Lucifer, but what she gets from Lillith as well.

But YES, I'm just so eager to see the whole deal with Alastor and Lillith, and I REALLY think Roo is going to come into play here somewhere. I really do. If not now, then later.

Personally, I still think Roo has Alastor's soul, but who knows? Maybe Lillith DOES have Alastor's soul, but Roo blackmailed/threatened Lillith into going to Heaven, so Lillith ordered Alastor to keep an eye on Charlie for her? Who knows? No one.

Who wants to know? ME!

All right, that video was a delight; love me some fucked-up claymation. I think it’s coincidental; stag masks are a pretty classic piece of imagery especially when it comes to sorta ‘old English paganism’-flavoured stuff. I think the whole video’s a bit of a Wicker Man reference, and I haven’t actually seen that film (I know, I’m a disgrace of a horror fan, but there’s only so many hours in the day) and a quick search showed me some folks in antlered masks from that too. Thanks for the link, though, I loved that! I gotta try some more Radiohead. Lately I’ve been listening to a lot of Ghost and Pinkshift.

Also, just bc we’re talking about music here for a minute-- I got an ask recently on my personal telling me a song the asker associated with my fic We Sing It Anyway which absolutely blew my mind; when I associate songs with stuff other than my own writing it’s a sign that it’s very alive in my head, so as a writer that was. Y’know. Super high praise I’m still really flustered. But in answering that I told them some songs I associate with my own versions of those characters, so now I wanna ramble a little about song associations with Owl House in general?

Generally once something lives in my head enough I start associating songs with it, I just dump them all into a playlist on my itunes; once I gather enough on a particular ‘subset’ (a character, a ship, etc) I’ll drag them all near each other in the playlist and then into vaguely chronological order. Right now my TOH playlist is 21 tracks, three of which are Lilith, 12 of which are raeda, five of which are lumity, and one of which is specifically Hollow Mind Hunter. (I didn’t put the songs I associate with Darius and Creed on the list bc that’s specifically my-fic relevant and feels inappropriate idk). ANYWAY I’ve been thinking I’d like to do lil illustrations for each song on the raeda and lumity sections and then post them as playlists, like I did for my rymin list, so I feel like I should be a little ~mysterious~ about those, but let me ramble for a sec about my Lilith and Hunter songs!

My Sister by the Juliana Hatfield Three isn’t very literally Lily, in the lyrics, but it has the vibe. I mean, the three verses start “I hate my sister, she’s such a bitch”, “I love my sister, she’s the best”, and “I miss my sister, where’d she go?” respectively, so you see what I mean. Those good mixed feelings.

Daughter by Doll Skin is the first song I associated with Lilith, or with anybody from the Owl House; I first heard it and was like “I feel like this is the direction Lily’s character reveal is going” and I was right. The kind of achy resentment of Eda, not just for natural skill/social adeptness but also for how well she seems like she’s handling the curse; she’s surviving something Lilith is privately sure she wouldn’t. That, along with the desperation to prove herself to their mum... “no matter what, she keeps on breathing-- why can’t I? why can’t I? It’s time to make your momma proud...”

Erase This by Evanescence has ‘Lilith sinking into her role as Coven Head’ vibes to me, “the sinking feeling every day I’m waking up in someone else’s life” because she knows she cheated her way there, “to believe that what we dreamed could ever come to life again” as she tries to coax Eda into the coven with her, “I cannot erase this lie” she can’t take back what she’s done... I also really like the line “I’m gonna save this wasted life, and nothing can stand in my way” because it gets a double meaning with Lilith-- she’s going to save her sister’s ‘wasted’ life as a con artist and junk seller and Wild Witch, but then she also wants to save her own life from the hole she’s dug herself into. Gives me emotions.

Then, for Hunter (and Luz) just-post-Hollow-Mind, it’s 100% Mine’s Not a High Horse, by The Shins, for me. This one I have strong enough associations with every damn line that I’m tempted to try and do a song comic for it like I did for Now You Know with raeda. Try this bit, for Hunter’s life as a Golden Guard and all the Guards that came before:

We’d like to go the distance, But not a one of us is gonna. You see, nobody’s wise enough to turn this ancient boat around. These are the muddy waters I’m swimming in to make a living-- That I might drown in them should come as no surprise....

So, for the character bingo, what about Lilith Clawthorne?

LILITH MY BELOVED LILITH CLAWTHORNE EASILY THE MOST WOMAN EVER I WOULD DIE FOR HER. Every day i rotate her in my mind easily one of my ultimate owlhouse faves and perhaps even one of my ultimate faves in general. HOWEVER. I THINK HOW SHE WAS HANDLED. FUCKING SUCKS.

Like okay the first most pedantic-est nitpick. You couldnt have canonised the aroace angle in the actual media? Like i would have taken a fucking pride pin. Give her or someone ONE LINE about like "oh lilith doesn't Date People". I am going to go feral and froth at the mouth. I love and respect dana terrace for the queer rep she DID put in owlhouse: when the house are owl. But the one Singular aroace character has her orientation canonisee exclusively outside of the damn source material and it wracked me with anger. Also <3 she deserved to have a bigger role in s3 like ik it was cut but she was RIGHT THERE

But yes i love her i support women's rights and women's wrongs, her complicated relationship with (and betrayal of) eda was so well-written and i will be forever salty that we didnt get more of post-s1 lilith (especially elsewhere and elsewhen era lilith because holy shit i love her) bc she was made in a lab to cater to me specifically and call me foolish but i think a character arc where a woman has to realise that she hurt her sister in the past and she needs to move beyond that & instead of living in service to a desperate desire to right a 30-year-old wrong in a way that ultimately causes more harm than good, she needs to figure out how to build a mutually healthy relationship with eda and accept the consequences of her actions instead of trying to subvert eda's own free will in the hopes that she can Literally magic the problem away... well idk an exploration of that just seems more interesting than a character arc where she starts to do that and then literally waltzes out of the story and appears in like 3½ more episodes as a side character and then the show ends. Grits my teeth she could have been THE MOST CHARACTER EVER ONSCREEN IN CANON. she explores themes of redemption* and rebuilding bridges she burnt AND she's aroace???? Ms Terrace please give me the secret Lilith Cut of ur funky lil owl show NOW

Just putting this out there, just because you're not Jewish or Sumerian doesn't mean you can't work with Lilith...ESPECIALLY if she comes to you first!

That's like telling someone "I'm sorry I can't hang out with you or work with you because we're not the same race and that random person told me not to..."

IMO Deities are beings with there own minds and points of view and can decide to work with whoever they want...You do not own them.

Also your opinions are just that personal opinions not facts...and no I'm not talking about "historical facts."

You can't culturally appropriate who is essentially a goddess... and has 100+ different personas, and yes men can 100% work with her as long as they treat her with respect and not just some sex idol (same goes for other demons like King Asmodeus) My husband has a relationship with Lilith and she came to him not the other way around!

Before anyone gets too cranky you can culturally appropriate a religion as that was made by a specific human person or people(who speak for themselves!), but if you are respecting that religion and not in it to be trendy or whatever than who cares what you do in your free time? Idk I’m not religious.

Lowkey wish Flora also joined you from the start because she has so much potential and I feel like she and Azura would get along well because Azura technically was a political hostage—it was just that Mikoto loved her and thus, the other royals also loved her.

I think it would be very interesting if somehow, when the Nohrian royals come to bail Corrin out after Hans decides to make a mess of things, Jakob/Felicia and Flora are also brought along.

When Corrin is brought back by Lilith, Flora is the only one who witnesses this and is caught by Corrin, who's surprised that everyone else is gone. At which point they both get bonked and brought to the Flame Tribe, after which Kaze brings them to Shirasagi Castle.

And those couple of chapters before Mikoto dies would be extremely interesting because now Azura is not the only link Corrin has to Nohr. There's also Flora, who also doesn't have fond memories of Nohr, but is also someone who kind of swings between resenting Corrin and loving her because she's never done her any wrong.

I think for Conquest, Felicia would be more interesting as the one who stays behind because you go to the Ice Tribe with Garon's "backing" so it would be easy for Felicia to not realize what was going on and then realize that Flora knew all along what was actually going on.

While for Birthright, Jakob would be more interesting if he stayed behind because you can still have that Felicia and Flora dynamic. And he sort of joins you later, so you can still have time to explore that particular relationship, though not like how you could in Birthright because Jakob would be there the entire time so he kind of has to deal with someone he respects and considers a friend hating his precious Lady Corrin, whereas in Conquest, he probably finds out about it later, instead of witnessing.

Which is probably a valid fear Flora had because that man does not hide how devoted he is to Corrin.

Idk, I just want Flora content because she's fascinating as hell

I keep thinking about probable old hexside crew adventures

and like what would be explored in them

like obvs Raine and Eda’s development together. but I’d love a lot of individual Raine development where we see them excel in classes. I can see them turning into the mysterious and cool new kid who just becomes popular outta nowhere. I can imagine them coming from a very pro-coven family. Raine I feel is one of those naturally gifted types of students who just do really good in everything (yall know the ones) but really only give a shit about the one. super smart kid. but painfully clueless. can not take a hint and can not lie in very situations. they’re also super sweet to p much everyone.

but Eda knows that they can’t be underestimated. they are much like actual boiling rain and will mess you up if need be. and they’ll look cute doing it!

but they also talk to Darius like “Eda called me cute and said I’m special to her but that doesn’t mean she likes me. I’m sure she says that to all her friends” “I’ve literally only seen her talk to you and her sister there’s zero other friends. Except maybe Perry but no one talks to Perry either.”

Alador and Odalia are the very annoying on-again-off-again couple who fight in public. they’re also the reason for a million of the PDA rules in hexside.

Lilith and Darius start hanging out more when their closest friends (Eda and Alador) start hanging out with their respective crushes/partners. It’s mostly to study but they develop a close bond. She acts like his big sister in a way.

Perry makes his way into the mix on accident. He has a small crush on Lilith because she’s been nice to him. He, Darius, and Lilith start studying together too.

The first bit of hijinks that the crew gets in is to break in to Principal Fausts office to burn the detention that he put in Lilith’s files, mucking her perfect record. Lilith had a whole meltdown from it and Eda is not having it. Seeing it all go down even causes the owl beast in her to spike. Raine is really quick to calm her by going “focus on comforting your big sis, let me do the revenge planning”.

the B plot however is Odalia, Darius, and Alador sleeping over at the school over a rumor about Grom coming out at night and wandering the halls. they basically bet that whoever stays last wins and the losers have to do the winners homework for a month.

Lilith obvs finds out about Eda and Raine’s plot and follows them to make sure they don’t get hurt.

they all find out Faust is sleeping at the school for some reason and is also worshipping Grometheus and starting a cult. Eda and Raine are the first to find out and proceed to freak the fck out.

The two find Darius, Alador, and Odalia in the abomination class. they give them the run down and now theyre all hiding from Faust. Lilith eventually finds them (they’re now in the school auditorium) and let’s them know that the authorities are on the way. she also chews Eda out for doing this.

But she can’t stay mad because she knows they can’t expect to hide and stay safe that way. so she devises a plan to essentially trap the cult.

Idk the plan but Eda would be taught a bard spell by Raine via finger snap. Alador would be able to show off how fast he can think things up, with help fortifying his inventions by Darius. and then Odalia summoning a shadow spirit and pretending it to be Grom.

By the end of it, Bump would be the new principal. He’d still give them all a weeks worth of work and community services but no need for the detention pit. and no need for anything to go on record.
