Okay you got me. Tell me about PP 1980
Okay, so XD
Imagine you had a BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice that was 5 hours long, faithful to the book, and yet having a different perspective/understanding/interpretation of the characters and the story? That's P&P 1980 in a nutshell, and I think it is worth watching just for that. But here are some other concrete things it has going for it, specially in relation to other adaptations:
The casting is closer in age than 95, and on one specific important case, closer than 05 too: Lady Catherine de Bourgh is played by an actress in her mid 40s, and she nails the absolute Opinionated Facebook AuntTM thing that the character has going in the novel.
It's not the only case of closer accuracy to the book in characters: Mr Collins is a young, tall, big guy, whose main issue is being very small minded, petty, and obsequent, instead of recurring to "he's greasy or slimy" as other adaptations do.
If you agree/like the "Darcy has autism" headcanon, this is the adaptation that leans the most heavily into it (it does overdo it, in my opinion, but there's a very interesting contrast between the flat affect of his facial expression, and the richness of inflexion in his voice)
Elizabeth Garvie's Lizzy is just... extraordinary. This adaptation circumvents the Jane-as-prettier-than-Lizzy issue by casting as Lizzy an actress with big, dark, very expressive eyes, small features and a very lively, sharp countenance and manners, whereas Jane's actress is tall and graceful and has a general air of kindness and sweetness, but in a very youthful way.
Speaking of Jane, this adaptation focuses much more on the sisters as sisters, and gives special emphasis to Lizzy's love for Jane, which I appreciate a lot.
Also speaking of Jane, Jane and Bingley are the cutest in this. They are given time, and he's kind and sociable and sweet without being an idiot. This adaptation includes that great line of his about how he wouldn't mind Darcy so much if he wasn't so tall, and the following comment about how Darcy can be fastidious of a Sunday evening.
That way, this adaptation includes several fan favorite scenes/lines that don't usually make it to adaptation, such as Darcy asking Lizzy to dance a reel, Lizzy playing and singing at a party in Meryton, Caroline teasing Darcy about putting uncle and aunt Phillips on the Pemberley portrait gallery, and the "I cannot fix the hour or the spot..." line. EDIT: also, the coffee pot scene!! and the rivalry between Mrs Bennet and Lady Lucas!
I also think it balances well how awful, in different ways, both Mr and Mrs Bennet (EDIT: and she's not insufferably shrill!!!!) are as parents (unlike how 95 and 05 "pick sides"); it emphasizes how self centered her efforts are, and how lazy and callous he can be in his mockery and indolence.
The opening sequence of each episode is a roll of a hand-drawn summary of the events of the episode and that's such a lovely detail.
Mind you, the adaptation is not without its faults. The production values are not what we are accustomed to nowadays. Some acting and lines are stilted and/or awkward. It has the odd choice here and there that is involuntarily funny. But I don't think people need discouragement from seeing it. I don't even think most of the general Austen fandom is aware of its existence. For my part, it has become my favorite adaptation of P&P (that I have watched so far; I haven't gotten yet to either 1967 or the Italian one).

Dropout Does Nerdy Prudes Must Die
I am a massive Dropout and Team Starkid fan (if the latter isn't obvious enough from looking at my reblogs) and I feel like there's a lot of overlap between the fandoms. My criteria for being considered a "Dropout Person" is anyone who has appeared on a Dropout show at least once, excluding guest appearances (so for example, Monet X Change counts because she's been on one season of D20 and an episode of Um, Actually, but Laganja Estranja doesn't count because she was only a guest on one of the Legally Not Survivor episode of Game Changer)
I will be trying to factor in voice types where I can, but there will be some instances where I just assume the person can sing the part, because I don't know if the person can sing or not. Also, I will be casting each of the individual parts, I know the actors in the OG cast play multiple parts, but there are so many talented people in the Dropout roster that I can cast each part individually.
Please enjoy. Also spoilers for Nerdy Prudes Must Die, I don't think I can talk about this without them. And also for Dimension 20's A Court of Fey and Flowers.
Max Jagerman: Grant O'Brien
I'll be honest, my main motivation for this one is that Grant looks a bit like Will Branner. He does play the heel really well, and I think he would do a great job playing Max, especially his more Freddy Kruger-esque quipping when he's dead.
Also, this is pretty niche, but in an old College Humour year-end video, where they all pick their favourite skits of the year (I think it was like 2018 or 2019?), Grant talks about how he thought it was really funny that in the Jocks and Nerds Both Think They're The Underdogs sketch, he was the closest thing the College Humour cast had to a jock, and this feels pretty similar to that.
Grace Chastity: Anna Garcia
She has a very unhinged "I am short and I will make that everyone else's problem" energy about her that you really need to play Grace. I think she would also do great with the physical comedy needed for the part.
Peter Spankoffski: Omar Najam
Awkward, nerdy guy who falls in love with the baddest bitch in the cast and would die for her. Am I describing Peter Spankoffski or Prince Andhera from A Court of Fey and Flowers? Also I want to hear Omar sing Cool as I Think I Am.
(This is a joke, love Binx but clearly Delloso De La Rue is the baddest bitch in A Court of Fey and Flowers)
Stephanie Lauter: Surena Marie
I don't have a real explanation for this one, this is vibes.
Richie Lipschitz: Ross Bryant
Watching Ross work his way through all the possible nerdy white guy rap options in Game Changer Karaoke cemented for him that he needs to play one of the nerds.
Ruth Flemming: Izzy Roland
A part that requires the performer to be deranged and horny? Call Izzy Roland!
Solomon Lauter: Brennan Lee Mulligan
Any Dimension 20 (or Critical Role: Exandria Unlimited) fan knows, Brennan is amazing at playing callous, cruel and manipulative characters, so Solomon Lauter is right in his wheelhouse.
Wiggly: Josh Ruben
Josh is so good at voices and playing weird characters, I would love to see his take on Wiggly.
Blinky: Erika Ishii
Erika Ishii is absolutely unhinged, I had to cast them as one of the Lords in Black. They could honestly be any one of them, but I picked Blinky because the voice Lauren Lopez does reminds me of Erika.
Nibbly: Lisa Gilroy
This one is also just vibes, but the vibes are correct.
Tinky: Zac Oyama
I am the head of the Zac Oyama As Weird Little Guys fan club, and what is Tinky if not a weird little guy? (who is also a chaotic evil eldritch being)
Pokey: Mike Trapp
I mainly just went off the vibes of the "What do you want Steph?" line, I think Mike would do well.
Detective Shapiro/Female Reporter in Hatchet town: Rashawn Nadine Scott
This is the only one I'm casting two parts, because they're both relatively small (and also I fully forgot that Bryce was not playing Detective Shapiro in Hatchet town until I checked the Genius page lol). Anyway, I think Rashawn would do great at acting as Detective Shapiro, but the main motivation behind this choice is that I want to hear her sing Bryce's part in Hatchet town. She would murder it as hard as Max murders nerdy prudes.
Officer Bailey: Jacob Wysoki
You need someone to chew scenery and throw props? Call Jacob Wysoki, he'll eat it up and go back for seconds
Brenda and Stacy: Jujubee and Monet X Change
I want to see them do the Go Go Nighthawks cheer, I think it would be amazing.
Jason and Kyle: Zeke Nicholson and Ify Nwadiwe
They both seem like the kind of guys to give butt slaps (consensually of course).
Mark and Karen Chastity: Zach Reino and Jess McKenna
They both have Awkward White Parent energy, and I think they would be very funny in this part.
Miss Tessburger: Vic Michaelis
Watching them play Vic Michaelis in Very Important People makes me think they would be great as the haughty assistant.
Miss Mulberry: Katie Marovitch
Katie just has "That nice teacher who lets students eat lunch in her classroom" energy.
Dan Reynolds: Lou Wilson
You need an icon to play an icon.
Emma and Paul : Emily Axford and Brian "Murph" Murphy
Dropout's iconic married couple to play Hatchetfield's iconic couple.
Hard Cuts:
Ify Nwadiwe as Max Jagerman:
He would have slayed the acting, but I assume based on his speaking voice that he's a baritone on the lower end of the range. However, if I am wrong about this and he could sing the tenor part, please treat him and Grant as tied for the part in my eyes.
Ross Bryant as Solomon Lauter
Vic Michaelis as Detective Shapiro
Erika Ishii as Ruth Flemming
Tao Yang as Peter Spankoffski
Jess Ross as Karen Chastity
Jacob Wysoki as Max Jagerman
Wayne Brady as Dan Reynolds
Aabria Iyengar as one of the Lords in Black
Anna Garcia as Blinky
Brennan Lee Mulligan as Wiggly
Lisa Gilroy as Grace Chastity
Grant O'Brien as Solomon Lauter

Ep. 13 "Into the Breach" Review
This was another fantastic episode that packs so much into its 25 minute runtime. Seriously, the finale better be like an hour. I feel like there's so much we have to address, yet so little time. My faith in you doesn't waver Jennifer; you've guided us through thick and thin. I will say that Rampart is surprisingly a really fun character to revisit and I enjoy watching him interact with the Batch. This man doesn't learn, but he's funny now so I give him kudos for entertainment purposes. I loved the dark atmosphere as the finale draws nearer and near. This is the end of the Bad Batch. We know it and they know it.
As usual, spoilers below:
MAMA ECHO RETURNS!!! After so long, he graces us with his appearance and he serves. I loved everything from his action sequences to his sass. Watching him sneak around the Imperial ship, rolling off of crates and working his magic was awesome to watch. That's why he's the Arc Trooper. And boy was he funny too. If it were possible, Rampart would've definitely be set on fire. Between being told he was being demoted to being denied the title of "sir," Rampart was demolished by Echo. It's just so good to see Echo again. I love him so much for his kind heart, quips, and awesome action sequences. The writers delivered!
Rampart, Rampart, Rampart... what will we do with you? He certainly hasn't changed and probably never will. But honestly, I kinda hope he doesn't. Sometimes, people are just aholes who do the right things for the wrong reasons. Rampart provides an interesting moral perspective. And he's still hot. Seeing him cleaned up in the uniform didn't help either. I'm a simple woman guys. He's also hilarious and I love it. Rampart's ego is so big that he unintentionally comes across as whiny and comical. Going forward, I seriously wonder what they'll do with him because he's going to Tantiss. Will he get dropped off? Sell the Batch out? Die in the battle that is to come? Next week will tell. I'm glad he was brought back though. He did his job as a villain well. Now, we get to see him in different situations and it's fun.
Omega, my sweet bean, hang in there. This episode does so well in establishing just how much she's grown over the past few seasons. Omega's always been resourceful and clever. Seeing her scheme to escape the Vault was exciting. You can also see the influence her brothers, particularly Hunter, have had on her. Omega's become more confident and mature. She's a leader in every sense of the word. The other kids look to her for guidance as she plans an escape. I also want to give the other kids a huge hug; I can't imagine what it must be like for them. It's one of the darkest things we've ever seen in Star Wars. Also, Emerie and Scalder rivalry definitely is gonna end with Emerie's true motivations being discovered. Scalder's not gonna let her allow Omega to slip away.
And seeing the boys strip their armor of all their color... that was legitimately heartbreaking to watch. I see it as a symbol of finality. There is no going back once they get to Tantiss. Hunter's "negative" just cements that. The last 5 minutes of the episode were so tense as the boys hitched a ride. As a my discord friend put it, "all roads lead to Tantiss."
There were a lot of smaller moments I enjoyed too. Wrecker was pretty funny this episode. Crosshair and Hunter voicing their trust in Echo was sweet. It furthers just how much the Batch truly trust and know each other. It's that implicit trust that makes me love their dynamic so much.
Anyways, that's all for now. We're truly in the endgame guys. After so long, we've finally made it to Tantiss. All that's left is to get Omega, the children, and escape which is so much easier said than done. I'm so scared yet excited for what's to come. See y'all next week!

911 Lone Star Rewatch: 1x02
Okay here we go again!
First note: I whip my hair back and forth is perhaps the funniest choice for a song to be playing in Owen's car when he pulls up to the fire house. Like I understand it is supposed to fit in with the fear of balding storyline we have in this episode. But it immediately made me think of this:
Tumblr media
TK asking his father if he got laid.... Tells us so many things about their relationship.
Ahhh the mercury food. I forgot about this call. Which is surprising because it is HORRIFIC. Especially since the lady that jumps first has my name. (but also I would have discovered the mercury immediately because I always pick those kinds of sandwiches apart when I eat them)
You know what. I need to see Carlos tackle more people. There has been a distinct lack of Carlos tackling people--I understand he fought off a serial killer last season, but still. More tackling. But poor Carlos is honestly so stressed throughout that entire scene.
Nancy! There she is. Still surprised that she wasn't in the pilot! Unless I missed her?? But I don't think I did.
They already have Grace in better costuming for this episode! Her clothing is a lot softer and relaxed, which fits her character better. Plus it doesn't look like they are dressing her to make her look older as much as they did last episode.
Okay, so about Michelle. The part of her character that does interest me is all of her volunteer stuff. The work she does with the homeless community and the part in this episode with the little boy who needs an inhaler. I wish they had spent more time on that because it's very compelling.
So Carlos recommends that Michelle goes to a curandera. How superstitious do we think Carlos is? Like he kinda admits that the story about his aunt's experience with a curandera was a little ridiculous. But I don't know... I get the feeling that he believes some of it. Not sure that he would ever admit it, but I think he does. Like Carlos seems like the type to scoff and say 'ghosts aren't real', but the moment he hears some creepy shit in a haunted building he's about to scooby doo run his way out of there.
Owen using almond milk for his cappuccinos is perhaps the worst sin he has committed.
Judd and Owen confiding in each other already! So early! Already on the road to becoming best friends! But Judd checking in with Owen about his cancer diagnosis and asking about how TK is taking everything-- JUDD RYDER THE MAN THAT YOU ARE.
Oh yes, the racist lady! How could I forget this was in this episode. Ugh, her avoiding Marjan when shaking their hands. And honestly, Marj is so patient with her even though she's a complete bigot. Which makes Marjan losing her job for insensitivity towards someone in the field in season 4 just that much more unfair to her.
There are so many choice pieces of dialogue in this scene though. There of course is the iconic "sure ma'am, but just so you know I am a homosexual" and Judd's simple "no". But also TK's kinda confused "we don't have any cuffs, Cap..." And Mateo's super quick "On it!" to going to get the zip ties. So good.
Last night I slept in my stileeettooos. Holiday Inn.
Carlos' little "totally" after TK says he wants to zone out before work is so funny. He's so whipped. Like, 'yeah whatever you say. I am so in love with you.'
I honestly forgot about the bald nightmare sequence until it started. And it's just so great from start to finish. Even if the freckly bald cap they have on Rob is terrifying. Also, Mateo still being nice and complementary even in Owen's nightmare speaks volumes.
On a more serious note, the whole part with the woman choosing death over letting him rescue her because he's bald is obviously a metaphor for how Owen would rather risk his cancer treatments not working--which could kill him--over risking losing his hair. And it's seen as insane and overdramatic even by him in the dream, which strangely enough I think was an important step for him realizing that he needed to let go of his worries about his appearance.
How does Rob Lowe manage to have great on screen chemistry with like... everyone. How does he do this??
And the gas leak call with the guy who has paranoid delusions! This episode has so many iconic calls!
As an aside, if a cop ever just burst through my door I would be so incredulous and angry. But a firefighter, on the other hand. Like when Paul crashes into that one apartment. I would just be like 'whatever you say sir'. Firefighters have my trust.
Wait. wait what was that headline on the news article that the man with paranoia had up on his wall?? The enslavement of kpop what?? Can someone who has quick access to it let me know the full thing. How have I never noticed that before.
The entire scene with Judd and Owen on horses is so great. Like the whole thing is just such a sweet gesture on Judd's part. But does anyone know if the hat that Judd gives to Owen is the same one he has when he goes to the hill country? That's awesome if it is. But I can't remember if it looks the same or not.
Also, Uncle Cash reveal when???
Slow down, Tiger
Carlos' shirt is really hanging on by a single button through that whole scene. I wonder if they did multiple takes of the button ripping part? Does that mean Rafa had to change his shirt every time?
"I don't do this a lot" "Clearly" TK THAT WAS MEAN. I understand why you said it, but ouch!!
I would like to state that at this point in the episode my voice recording is just me sadly saying, "Carlos and his snapper :(. TK is so hurt :(. Judd in his hoodie :(."
YEE-HAW
Another lovely episode! And to no one's surprise, another 10/10
If you made it to the end of this, here is your star for the good noodle board: ⭐

HAWAII FIVE O! REWATCH;
honestly I started doing a rewatch because I'm absolutely obsessed with this show but I also realized that I don't remember a lot of things that happened or when they happened (and I'm trying to convince my friend to watch) so! I decided to just write points through the episode for myself and well why not to post it on here bc there are people like me for sure. (didn't thought to do it to the first two episodes)
I'm gonna update that through the season probably. Also the qoutes are probably not 100% correct so don't take me by word.
A lot of mcdanno moments i want to remember!
SEASON ONE :)
episode 3
dude in shark tank thanks to steve.
football game, grace meet the team!
steve talk with the governor about danny's custody issues so grace stay in hawaii (i love them you honor)
chin tell steve that steve's dad and him went to every single football game steve played, "it was officially day off" (chin was fresh out of the academy).
five o was steve number player. his dad idea.
the end of the episode they decided five o for the team name. (I genuinely didn't remember it happened like that).
episode 4
danny knee injury.
mary come to visit! (I absolutely love her)
apparently mary and steve didn't met since their mom funeral.
"how long were you married" - A prisoner to mcdanno. The first time someone tell that!
"we were invisible to this man" Mary about John. "he didn't always show us but love us" Steve to mary.
Catherine introduction.
episode 5
max introduction!!!
mary found the champ box
episode 6
we learned more about kono as her benefactor is killed, who she also see as family.
"when i say 'book him danno' it's a term of entertainment" "okay do it every day i like it"
episode 7
A guy take hostage on a ship, steve swim to go on the ship.
steve take his shirt off infronto of danny (yeah its that scene)
""you miss me, don't you?" "oh yeah, I wish you were here but you don't swim." .... "You talking to your wife?" (boat guy) "I'm talking to my partner." (second time someone compares them to a married couple! I'm starting a count with this)
The boat guy knew Steve's grandfather.
episode 8
another grace scene
danny's ex partner from HPD, meka, was murdered.
another sang min appearance.
a lot of actors i know from different show play in this show and i forgot about this.
It's jiaying! aos fan forever and always, even tho she also played in the 100 (which is one of my fav show ever) my first reaction to her was jiaying.
Antonio from Chicago pd, again another show I'm absolutely obsessed with.
it's funny how we say to people that danny is the clam one when he literally tied a guy to the hood of the car and drove in high speed through the streets.
also five o in formal clothes are so hot.
danny and chin scene together. telling each other they're here for the other. The friendship in the show are amazing.
episode 9
nick taylor introduced, he is steve's friend and he served under him a few years in the navy.
smooth dog mcgarrett! hello
steve say that he was on the other side of those missions, he implies that he was the one who killed the high value targets.
steve say they all had a speciality, he basically say that he was a sniper. (danny ask him and he smiles as an answer)
nick is an asshole and danny knew that!
ok but for real now, the team killed so many people and it's not even ten episodes, i genuinely want to know the numbers, especially for steve. it's one of the only cop show that they kill and show so freely and no one talk about this.
five o saved a country by protecting the guy and his family! why no one remember this!!
"you have got to start doing a better job of picking your friends." "I picked you, didn't I?" (i love this scene so much, their smilesss)

Well I got to episode 5 in my IWTV S1 rewatch…
Truthfully I probably won’t say much about this episode since there is so much of it in season 2 that I think will be revisited. On top of that I am at the end of my semester at school so I probably won’t say much because of that too. Also out of all of the episodes of s1 this the episode that I have seen the least.
But we still have 3 more weeks until season 2 where I have no doubt that s1 will be tame when compared to it. I’m getting more and more nervous each week not going to lie.
Ok… here we go!
IWTV S1 E5: A Vile Hunger for Your Hammering Heart
The episode starts with Daniel reading Claudia’s diary and how she records the last words of the people she kills.
But then Daniel is interrupted by Louis feeding on ‘Rashid’. It is pretty nasty for Louis and Armand to do this in front of Daniel. He even reads his mind to try and throw Daniel off his game. I notice that whenever Daniel tries to talk about something negatively about Claudia, Louis will always try to do something to throw Daniel off that even holds through in the ‘Paris sucks’ clip we have in s2.
It’s funny that Armand tells Daniel he would not let him anywhere near his neck. He must still be mad at Daniel for something maybe Devil’s minion related? 👀
Then we go back to 1923 where Louis thinks that she has gone on a hunger strike because of Charlie but Lestat knows that she is just escaping when they have to go feed. Since they are so similar Lestat knows that Claudia would not skip out on meals.
Also the line “I know what I’d do, but you cut my hands off.” Like!!!!! Fucked up Nikki reference. 😭
Also Lestat reading the diary and the dairy being so graphic ugh… 🤢
Everything is just such a mess… oh boy… with all the bodies coming up
And of course Tom Anderson is trying to distract Loustat since the Police chief is there in the speakeasy.
I feel so much anxiety with all the cops in their home! And Claudia is not helping! 😬
There are still some comical bits such as the “We sell… incinerators.” Louis’s little shrug at Lestat. “To various American cities.” The delivery is actually very funny.
Also what’s funny is Claudia’s acting when the cop opens her door. Her face when she drops the blanket and the closet door opens to show the rotting man.
But all the fun and games stop when the cop is homophobic.
Yes Lestat is a jerk and treats Claudia like shit and still sees Antoinette so Claudia only feels like she has to leave.
Also establishing that Claudia is unable to turn people is a great thing to set up now.
And even though it’s heartbreaking I do love that Claudia gets mad at Louis for not just taking her to a hospital but made Lestat turn her into this monster. Bailey’s acting is just so perfect here.
We go back to Dubai and Daniel is telling Louis some harsh truths about what the public could do with Claudia. Yikes
And their home turns into a ruin after they wake up from their long nap
Man…Fuck Bruce
The part where Louis makes Daniel’s Parkinson’s go out of control as always annoyed me even if Daniel was stepping out of bounce it just never sat right to me. And of course Armand is there to ‘calm Louis down’
We go back once again and we see the scene of Louis saying his final goodbye to Grace and his makes Claudia come home after everything.
Lestat is such a bitch when she comes home. I understand what he is trying to do but it’s just all wrong.
And the fight happens. We will revisit what happened during the fight in the coffin room that we don’t get to see. But as an indication by some parts of the trailer we have already seen a glimpse of it. Hopefully the writers handle it well…
Also the during the drop scene it sounds a lot like what Armand said to Lestat before pushing him off a tower in TVL so I guess we’ll see what comes of it.
Okay good got through that one. Now I can get back to some class work lol.
I cannot believe that we are now 3 weeks away from seeing the premier for season 2 and for some of you, you will be seeing it in about a week and a half. Good luck to the NYC people that get to see it early.

ep. 8 thoughts here we go. tw for sexual assault obv.
so i liked the episode, but not really as much as the others. compared to the others, i’m closer to lukewarm. the episode felt a bit rushed in the second half, because the first half spent an adequate amount of time setting up david.
i’m gonna talk about david first to get him outta the way.
i liked most of the details they added for him:
the christian thing -- as i was watching, i thought it was a good way to subtly imply the pedo thing without being overt about it. we also never got to see how much power david had in the game, so those beginning moments of the ep where his unequivocable leadership over the group is shown were really good at silently highlighting that. i’ve also seen it pointed out this being the “traditional” and “correct” way to maintain society and yet immediately turning to eating their own kind because of their one leader, versus jackson being communist and thriving because everyone holds the exact same amount of power, is really, really funny.
the subtle emphasis on traditional gender roles -- i don’t really recall him having this in the game but that moment where he insists he’s that one girl’s father because of his role in the town is a really scary prelude to what role he thinks ellie should take up alongside him.
the teacher thing -- much like the christian thing, but something that doesn’t quite hit till later. creeps me out just thinkin about it.
the detail that i didn’t like, which i feel crumples up all this good subtextual writing and throws in it the bin is david’s attempt to rape ellie. in my post about ep. 7, i was HOPING that they wouldn’t be more explicit about david’s...intentions than they already had been; and they did exactly that, but in the smallest way. in the penultimate moment, in the burning diner, david admits he likes “the part where they fight” the most and reaches for his belt. like...i get it. you want it to be clear-clear that he’s a pedophile, that had ellie gotten to the machete a bit later in the game, maybe he would’ve made that intention clear as well, but why go that far narratively? you already have the building blocks for the audience assuming he’s a creep, you even strengthened it in the subtext, so why make him attempt to sexually assault her, in a burning building i might add????
the only saving grace was bella’s acting chops and, of course, when she kills the mf.
i’m not a fan of craig mazin’s reasoning for his changes nor his understanding of the characters, especially in the bts for this ep. his point about david being right about ellie having a “violent heart” is gross, because no, she doesn’t?? she doesn’t have a violent heart anymore than joel does, or maria, or tommy, because they all live in the post-apocalypse. she’s a literal kid trying to survive and maintain the good that she has, why describe her in such a weird way? when she’s quite literally the embodiment of good and hope in the series??? i know more than you, craig. >:///
a change that i did like was the separation between what happened in the burning building and joel finding ellie. because yes, i agree, the whole point of ellie’s section was for her to come out victorious through her own making. that moment where they find each other again, with all the fucked up additions, did feel all the more relieving, i’ll give it that.
that other change where it’s not joel pulling her close, but ellie going in for a much-needed hug, was really good. to me, it works with the build-up of ellie’s reliance on his protection. “if you die, i’m fuckin’ dead out here” & “i can’t fucking do this without you” were building up to this point where she can (non-verbally) say that she needs him.
in the game, it’s more so “she’s finally safe, thank god she’s safe,” which is still good, clearly because it’s one of the best scenes in the game and because we’re in joel’s shoes, but i like that the show’s depiction of them plays into the dynamic of ellie loving joel’s protection and him just being there for her. shit, i like seeing how much ellie loves joel in the show!!! her cuddling up with joel REALLY felt to me like for a moment, she could pretend for a second that he’s more than some guy transporting her across the country, but like maybe a dad? something like a dad? something precious that she wants in her life for a long time??
the game being from joel’s perspective, we don’t get as much on ellie’s feelings, how she comes to love joel, and i really dig that the show is giving us that. like hey, i know she’s a kid and of course, that means she’ll latch on to him faster but maybe it’s a bit more complex than that, who knows.
HEY, SPEAKING OF JOEL: poor guy’s parts of the ep were way too short :( not just in an “i wanna see joel do more sick shit because this is a gameplay section” kinda way, but also in a “hey, you’re rushing the episode” kinda way. i wanted more of him tearing the place apart in search of ellie. the game had it that way to match the chaotic energies that both parties were going through just to get back with each other! but joel’s portions of the ep were lacking and it seemed like the episode needed that boost. in trying to remember what joel was doing in the episode, the first thing that comes to mind isn’t really his torture scene but him ambling about in the snow. not a great thing. give the man more to do, please. i now see what people mean when they say the action has been neutered a bit.
anyway, back to ellie again lol.
bella was AMAZING in this. they’re so good at acting and acting like ellie that it’s like??? where they born to play ellie???? she killed all the feral moments, the vulnerable moments, the moments where ellie fucks up. the “ellie is the little girl that broke your fucking finger” moment was PHENOMENAL.
last episode next week. it’s 44 min apparently?? i’m not liking how that looks. if it were up to me, it’d be a two-parter. a bigass slow burn. one episode dedicated to ellie and joel only, expands their growing relationship after winter, lets them be soft, has the giraffe moment, makes things seem okay, then at the end they get found by the fireflies. second starts with the anna flashback and really digs into what’s about to happen, rounding off the theme of getting into the scientific side of the cordyceps in a neat way, then kicks off the end segment of the game.
here’s hoping they nail it.

hi lets show some love for our mutuals. tag your favorite mutuals and tell them why you love them
thank you, dear anon. time to spread lots of love:
@blakbonnet - what would i do without meow? she’s so smart & kind & funny & so fucking talented. writing, painting, making gifs, clowning - there’s nothing she can’t do. we have one and the same brain and often send each other almost identical messages at the same time. she’s my biggest fan and greatest supporter. team beard brought us together and now i never want to be without her!
@sherlockig - my soulmate, my sunshine, my rock. not only is she incredibly sweet and one of my best friends in the world, she’s also the backbone of the ofmd fandom. she graces our screens with fantastically edited screen caps of our beloved blorbos. we’d be lost if alexz didn’t put so much love and energy into picking the perfect frames! i’m so grateful for her presence in the fandom and in my life.
@saltpepperbeard - jodi. my wifey. my one true love. nothing brings me more joy than seeing her gifs or reading her insane tags on posts. they’re better and more entertaining than any newspaper or novel. every time she has an insanely brilliant (or angsty) thought, i wanna propose to her all over again. her writing makes my brain tingle in the best possible way. btw all of you are invited to our next wedding 🥰
@bizarrelittlemew - one day i saw one of ida’s gif sets and was like: hell yeah, i wanna see more of that. i came for the gifs but stayed for her love of rhys darby, her kindness, her writing, her amazing vibe, her creativity, and her lovely self.
@not-nervous-jester - jams is the hottest person on this hellsite. they’re just so effortlessly funny and amazing. their brain has the most wrinkles because they’re so fantastic and intelligent. i invite jams to make out with me regularly because i’m secretly (or not so secretly, i guess) obsessed with them. anyway, i’m smooching you and your brain, jams!
@skysofrey - kaitlin is the sweetest human ever. sunshine in a bottle. kindness personified. seeing her yellow hearts in the tags improves my mood instantly. she deserves to have a perfect day every single day.
@stedebonnets - another 10/10 human being. how anyone can be so sweet and supportive is almost unbelievable to me. ara will make you feel like the most special person on this planet with just a few words and sweet emojis. i bet ara’s hugs feel like coming home after being gone for years.
@dickfuckk - i once called josh the bts king because he’ll know or find anything that is just slightly adjacent to ofmd. his dedication to @ourflagmeansbts is insane to me. on top of that: nice & funny dude, hilarious videos, my dj archive 😌
@rainbowcrowley - after just casually communicating over tags we have finally moved our relationship to the next stage (dms & laughing about shitty memes about politicians, apparently). addi will tell you they make “mediocre gifs” but that’s just a blatant lie. their gifs always look fantastic. a very sweet bean.
@darkinerry - marlena will come out of nowhere and throw spectacular taika gifs into your inbox or just make a straight up insane gif set of that man with clips they probably had to kill someone for. idk how else they do it or where they get them, it’s a mystery to me. excited puppy energy 24/7.
honorable mention goes to olivia aka @snake-snack-stede who is, hands down, the most hilarious person in the ofmd fandom. i’m looking forward to your s2 shenanigans as much as the episodes!!!
if i didn’t mention you, know i still love you. and you’re amazing. 💕

HI bestie happy pride !!!!!!! one quastion do you have any lgbt hcs for tpn that you're particularly fond of? whether they were hard hcs from the beginning or picked up from others,, give me yuor thoughts <3
ℍ𝔸ℙℙ𝕐 ℙℝ𝔻𝔼 𝔹𝔼𝕊𝕋𝕀𝔼!!! 🌈❤️🧡💛💚💙💜✨
My favorite hard headcanons that will come as a surprise to no one who has spent some time browsing this blog are endgame Norrayemma/REN/NER and Gildayshe, the former of which I'm very fortunate with when it comes to finding art and fic, and the latter not so much because I've never seen it anywhere besides this site. </3 (Thanks for prompting me to finally put together my past!Gildemma → endgame!Gildemma ramble I mentioned months ago. 🧡💚💛) Special shoutout to @frozentothetouch whose art converted me back in 2021 before I made this blog.
I don't have hard gender or sexuality headcanons for the trio for reasons @hanz-xd perfectly articulated here:
i think they'd have a hard time understanding the human world's perception of relationships and their hyper focus on labels. it's not like they really had those things at grace field, or at least, it wasn't important enough for them to care about. no one really called themselves straight, gay, bi, etc. so it's a little confusing for them in the real world. not the concept of these identities, just the need for labels in the first place. emma is kinda like "well i love every body?? why do i need to label that??" i think emma also struggles to understand the pressure of monogamy because again, her heart is so big and so full, she can't possibly imagine containing that love to one single person. especially when she thinks about ray and norman. she doesn't love one of them more than the other, she loves both of them so much. why would she want to force herself to choose when she could just love both of them? [...] but yeah, to summarize, the three of them would be together, but they'd never put labels on their identities, aside from calling each other their boyfriend/girlfriend. that's all it needs to be for them. the most they’ll do is confirm with a simple “yeah i guess” when people ask if they’re polyamorous. like yeah, they are by definition, but they don’t really care about labels. they just love each other in a way that feels right and authentic to them
The trio of my heart 🤍🧡🖤 though if I had to pick some, I'd default to the ones @officersnickers uses in this piece.
Likewise I don't have firm gender headcanons for Gildayshe, but I'm very big on lesbian Gilda, once again thanks to Rain and also to @just-like-playing-tag. I would also say I'm 95% committed to lesbian Ayshe, with the last 5% being my soft spot for Rayshe, though even then she's wlw + Ray doesn't necessarily have to be cis for it to work.
I'm ever so slightly less big on Yuucas but still big on it and a firm believer in the bunkerdads. 🖤❤️ Like many people in the fandom, I also champion gay Lucas and bi Yuugo, though ngl I'm half convinced Shirai included Dina as an afterthought at the suggestion of higher-ups so people wouldn't suspect either was a mlm or "funny" with the kids given how inconsequential Yuuna is to the story. Do love a bi skunk king though. 💖💜💙👑🦨✨
I also love the idea of bi Nat with him leaning toward guys thanks to @puff-poff. Don is pan with a preference toward girls (though you have shown me the light of trans gay Don. 🙏💙💖🤍) I love the thought of him firmly believing in the idea of "finding a cute girl to date" like he talks about in episode 1, only to one day be hit with the mental equivalent of a sack of bricks upon falling hard for a guy. Not in like an angsty way because this is years down the line and he's able to handle his insecurities better, plus he has the support of a large family filled with members of the community and I'd like to think after another world war the human world as a whole is more accepting of this, so there's no shame attached to it. It's more like having it happen and then going in the group chat with something akin to "remember when I said I was a ladies' kind of guy?"
Tumblr media
No one in the Goldy Pond crew or Lambda gang claims cishet, but my favorites for each:
Trans lesbian Violet. I cannot pass up Shirai canonically making her favorite food pickles (noted in the mystic code book). It writes itself.
Tumblr media
Love the thought of Violet taking Gilda under her wing during their search for the Seven Walls when she finds out she had a crush on Emma. (something Violet can relate to lol)
Trans girl Gillian. Feel like this one is less common than trans Violet, but regardless, she's pan and Nigel's bi.
Vincent is gay. M'guy dapper af.
Tumblr media
(Chapter 137)
Cislo is a mlm, though Snickers has kind of converted me to him being aroace.
Barbara is a lesbian. While I'm definitely not opposed to Cherry Bomb, I've recently taken a liking to her and Sonya being a couple. (Sonyara? Is this a thing that I've missed or am I the only potential shipper? I like the idea of Sonya approaching things in a more calm and levelheaded fashion and how that sometimes conflicts with Barbara's more chaotic one, but instead of it resulting in ire, they take it as a playful challenge. Plus I like how Sonya's blues pop next to Barbara's pinks and reds.)
Tumblr media
(Bad mesh of their color pics in the art world book but I work with what I have. </3)
This is already hella long but there was definitely something between Leuvis and Bayon Sr. Also Geelan is a mlm.

end of 9x15 (the hurricane episode) with Steve arriving at Danny's place just as Charlie and Rachel are leaving, and I gotta say... listen, I'm not immune to the trope of 'divorced but still with a soft spot for each other that comes up again every few years.' it's a good trope. and I like Rachel, and of course I like seeing Danny happy!
but it's also funny how Steve shows up and as soon as Rachel and Charlie leave he's like 'Danny aren't you gonna make me breakfast :|' 'y'know, me, your husband :|' 'your husband Steve who was working all night and deserves pancakes with bananas in them :|'
--and honestly, on a more serious note? I think it IS true that Danny and Rachel would never be able to make it work, ultimately. there's a reason it's never lasted with them. but I do think they care enough about each other to be friends in a very warm way, once they both fully accept that fact. and I would be very charmed, personally, to see Rachel as being really supportive of Danny and Steve. much the same way I think it'd be nice to see Cath support them together. like, I've loved you for a long time, in a lot of ways, and seeing you happy makes me happy. plus I know Rachel would trust Steve as a stepdad to her kids. she knows how much he loves them, knows he'd do anything for them - we saw how far he'd go for Grace just a few episodes ago, and even saw that Rachel knows and appreciates how close Steve is with her, since she included so many pictures of Steve and Grace together in Grace's slideshow.
idk. I've talked more about the Steve and Cath dynamic because it's on-screen more, but I think the Danny and Rachel dynamic is also really engaging. and I like the idea of Catherine and Rachel both remaining friends with the guys and being a sincerely welcome part of the ohana, even with Steve and Danny together.

I just finished binge watching season 4 with my friend so I am going to try my best to write down cohesive thoughts. (Warning: They’re not very cohesive) Spoilers ahead!!!!
Ep. 1: I love Kitty and Thomas in this episode!!! The way Kitty’s voice changes when she becomes his agent is hilarious! And then Robin becomes his bodyguard!!! Fanny and Julian bonding over their voyeurism will never not be funny. The reference to Ötzi is my favourite but I think it’s because I’m a massive nerd. Mary’s description of her day to day life was honestly so wholesome and beautiful I loved it. I related far too much to Alison’s anxiety about being liked by guests and such. Also Cap and Mick at the end <3
Ep. 2: AAAAHHHHHH CAP AND KITTY BONDING EPISODE THIS IS MY FAVOURITE THING EVER YESSSSSSSS!!!!! Mary backstory time!!!! Annie teaching Mary how to be a girlboss!!!!! Also Thomas is a confirmed former drug addict and I honestly love that for him. Pat becoming a prison guard is incredibly funny! Wonderful Humphrey and Thomas moments in there!!! As soon as Mike’s friends talked about their little “business opportunity” I immediately knew it’s was a shady pyramid NFT scheme type situation. Cap’s bug obsession!!! Alison trying to bond with the ghosts!!!! AAAAAAHHHHHHH THE CAPTAIN WITHOUT HIS JACKET AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
Ep. 3: The closest thing we’ll get to a musical episode!!!!!! Honestly good on Alison for putting the ghosts in their place. And Mike being the best husband ever is the sweetest thing!!!! “Julian fingering Fanny’s lip” will probably be my favourite Fanny joke to date! DOUBLE CAP GUN NOISES!!!! <333 I love Mary sticking up for herself!!!! Then she goes and has a self care day!!! “My heart belongs to daddy” 👀 okay Cap. Aaaaand Mike is running around in the nude… good for him. The sorry song is the greatest thing to grace this earth! Literally better than any other musical undertaking ever! They had choreography and everything! They left a review for Alison!!!!! I genuinely thought Mary was gonna burn the place down, I love my feral housewife!!!
Ep. 4: This one broke me. But birdwatcher Cap makes me incredibly happy! :) the fakeout with Robin and then making it so Mary is the one sucked off absolutely destroyed me. You can’t just kill my wife like that!!!!!! It happened so suddenly!!!! And then it shows all the different ways the ghosts grieve, it absolutely broke my heart. Then Robin talks about how he looks to the stars as a coping mechanism 😭. And ALISON WEAVED A BASKET WITH MARY AND IT’S FIVE POTATOES HIGH!!!!! Then there’s Cap about to cry and Julian comforting him! And the fact that Humphrey didn’t even know 😭😭 I can’t with this show this is a comedy why am I sobbing!?!?!? Beautiful episode. Damn you Ben Willbond! (Affectionate)
Ep. 5: New ghost!!!! He seems like such a chill guy I love Maddocks. (I really hope that’s a reference to Yonderland) He really is just the guy ever. I love the fact that Robin has known about him for so long. I wanna stab Barlcay <3. Mike trying to get out of the bubble thing is so silly I love it! And Robin and Julian playing with the giant chess board is everything!!!!
Ep. 6: Holy shit what an opening. I knew Button House HAD to be fine but a little voice in my head kept telling me otherwise. I love that Julian is trying to be a good person just to prove Cap wrong. Idk why that’s so amazing to me. Robin backstory!!!!!!!! I knew the struck by lighting theory was right!!!!! I feel so validated!!!!!!!!!! Also ROBIN IS A THUNDER GOD NOW!?!?!! Like he can control lighting essentially. That’s a lot of power for one ghost to have. My guy can CONTROL THE SKY!!!! Over all a pretty open-ended ending. I’m very excited to see what they have planned for season 5.
I really liked season 4! The vibe was definitely different but it wasn’t bad at all. I love how we got more Humphrey and the Plague Ghosts and I think each character had their time to shine and it all went really well! Episode 2 is definitely my favourite!

How I Met Your Father - Review
Seasons 1 & 2
First, know that I was there in the beginning. I watched How I Met Your Mother starting in season 3 and watched it as it aired until the very bitter end. Everyone has a show that disappointed them and let them down. But I honestly think that nothing compares to the horror of the last episode of HIMYM, because it made everything that came before it worse. Mayyybbee some LOST fans get it. But at least that finale wasn’t a character assassination in the name of one last smug trick. It was a rumination on love and humanity that allowed the characters a moment of grace in a world that denied it. HIMYM’s trashed seasons of character work for Barney and Robin and its own success in actually finding someone to play the Mother who was worth 11 seasons of waiting. But sure, wasn’t it clever they had footage of the kids before they grew too big saying the story was always about Ted loving Robin. Of course nothing that was filmed after season 3 really mattered.
I’m sorry to begin this way, but as Robin Scherbatsky and Barney Stinson appear in HIMYF, clearly in the between times, post divorce but before the titular mother’s horrible death, we have to talk about it.
I hadn’t meant to watch this show. Poor Chris Lowell will forever be Piz. The Veronica Mars trauma is another thing all together and others have written about that better. But as a lifelong Hilary Duff fan, I was curious to see her do a traditional adult sitcom.
In 2021, the pilot didn’t convince me. I agreed with reviews that said none of the characters acted or spoke like millennials. The side stepping of covid felt weird as well. Where HIMYM had a really eerie knack of conjuring NYC from LA, the reboot felt more soundstagey. I chalked it off as another mercenary move to mine IP and play on nostalgia.
But I guess this is why we live on Tumblr! Because the right gifset on your dash at the right time can make you reassess. And the right persons face can make you pause and go, I guess this is happening now.
In 2023, watching a comedy that was in fact pure shenanigans suddenly felt like a gift. As everyone reassess the changes in the US television industry, I hope distributors see the value in greenlighting shows like this again. I love my prestige comedies that want to incite anxiety attacks. But I also love seeing friends living in a city run around having madcap adventures. And I love a show that unabashedly wants me to ship characters and care about romance! Particularly the slow kind that works off dozens of episodes to establish.
And luckily for me, HIMYF has the very dreamy Sid, played by Suraj Sharma. I mean, who doesn’t at some point fantasize about a hot bar owner smart enough to go to [insert highly demanding profession here] but chose instead a cozy place where all their friends can hang. (See also New Girl). I need at least 3 more seasons, 20 episodes each, because I’m invested in the potential between he and Hillary Duff’s Sophie. Its nascent and yet so much more intriguing than Sophie’s other more obvious, but boring options. (Apologies to Chris Lowell’s Piz Jessie). Sophie and Sid have the easy charm to power a friends to lovers for the ages. And with his marriage on the rocks, and her dating his best friend, the melodrama is there too! The stupid concite of the show has its hooks in me again and I am definitely scared. You would be too if you saw the pathos and rawness Cobie Smuthers brings to her cameo. I’ve been kicked in the teeth before by this world. Neither of us are over it.
Fine, a brief word on Barney’s cameo. Awful. He talked about how he learned to respect women thanks to a special girl in his life. It was his fucking daughter and not Robin. I knew this and it still hurts. The electroshock pants weren’t funny. But I did like that he wouldn’t charge a nice girl for smashing his car if she had a fun enough story. That was the character I liked.

chicken girls s10 opinions! (since the final episode came out today)
Tumblr media
this season was honestly ROUGH with many different details that made it better and worse in some ways?
season 10a (episodes 1-10):
• the beginning of season 10a was such a slow beginning! getting through the first few episodes was such a bore and i would often skip weeks of watching😭
• i love brat for trying out the parallel between the second gen (s7-9) and third gen (s10) plot lines but i hated it! I’m sorry!!! it was kind of messy and pointless to say the least
• ivy is a boring protagonist and that’s that. after having iconic characters like rhyme and harmony as our leads, ivy didn’t have the spark that they did? she got severely better in 10b (will go in depth later) but she was such a bitch all of 10a!
• kara and ivys beef was honestly funny to watch. im somewhat of a kara stan so to see their beef that was REASONABLE was entertaining and one of the saving graces of 10
• you could tell the writers were bored out of their minds making this season! half of the plot points were either dropped mid season or not even fully developed!!
• bailey and her brother were kind of annoying im sorry. she felt like a sport version of leyla that was whiny literally the WHOLE season. this isn’t the actors fault at all, it’s simply THE WRITERS FAULT
• jj was a chill character. i liked her and she made sense. her home plot line was really sad and bailey had her best moment in the whole season by helping jj which i enjoyed. jj and bailey are one of my fav ships this season btw, they were cute and i enjoyed watching them! (sorry reading this back, this sentence made no sense😭)
• the gen 2 chicken girls were so boring in 10a. i feel like the writers just wanted to keep them in so ppl would still watch for one reason or another. in result of this, they got the dumbest plot lines in the show. I MEAN WHAT WAS THE TEST PLOTLINE W SIMONE AND PETRA?! my girl simone went through sm in 10b tho which ill go in depth on later obvi
• why did poppy do a full personality 360 from forever team? made no sense whatsoever!
• LOVE LOVE LOVE that we brought the dance team back!? it was random but i loved the og plot w the dance team and all that
• petra was a bitch in 10a and i loved her sm😆 she was a better written character than the 4 lead girls and idk why the writers did that but slay!
• kara x bailey, i was waiting the whole god damn season for and we didn’t get it😭
• the best character award goes to finn! he wasn’t annoying and remained my favorite character the whole season. some of y’all bout to hate but he was the best male character chicken girls has SEEN. he was such a better love interest that both walker and tk
• ivy and finn were cute ig? idk they got a build up which i liked but it was also out of nowhere
• i hate theo sm what😭 he was attractive but like he as a total bitch to BOTH petra and ivy! he wasn’t a one dimensional character but wasn’t two dimensional either? (iykyk)
• 10a was messy and i didn’t like most of it sorry😭 BUT 10B WAS SO MUCH BETTER I PROMISE
10b (episodes 11-20)
• UGH WHAT AN UPGRADE THIS WAS!! the second half of the season took like 3 months to come out BUT THE WRITERS NEEDED IT!
• finn, kara and jj were such a trio this second half and i LIVED for it! they were so supportive towards each other
• bailey tempering with more stuff she shouldn’t be dealing with YET AGAIN!! she didn’t need to do that whole thing for ben and set him up w a girl that was literally sapphic and liked her😭
• ivy tryna kiss petras man? kinda bitchy but it was fun to watch more in 10b than 10a? ivy and theo were also kinda cute ngl and they had chemistry
• SIMONE AND CLAIRE WERE AT EACH OTHERS THROATS.
• bailey got better FINALLY. getting her OWN plot line without having to temper with other peoples? YES YES YES. and it was abt trust issues too. ugh so real girl
• petra was so real all of 10b and also deserved SO MUCH BETTER OMG. i felt so bad for her the whole second half
• the whole football, dance crossover bailey thing was kind of a smart move on the directors part? idk it was kinda boring but also gave bailey MORE DEPTH WHICH SHE NEEDED!
• kara for more screen time!!
• kara and ivy had that really cute moment where they forgave each other and ended the rivalry. absolutely loved that
• ivys eating disorder was so important and a great plot point. i love that she was able to open up to the team! my only criticism was that (again, like most of the season) came out of nowhere!
• i feel like they could’ve afforded a better set. you could even tell regionals wasn’t even real bc they didn’t even have a stage
• bailey and sage! i liked them ngl and i hope sage comes back
• why did ivy go back to finn? like she wanted theo the whole season and then went back to him?…I LOVED IT! again, gave the season a bit of spice towards the end which came back to me wanting more!
• the last two episodes were REMARKABLE! 10B WAS GOOD AS IT STARTED OUT BUT UGH GOT SO MUCH MORE INTERESTING AND I WAS SO EXCITED TO SEE THE NEW EP TODAY
• petra needs to come back. i miss her already :(
• i lowkey thought jj and finn were gonna happen but I GUESS NOT. no but i also feel like jj was hinted at as being sapphic. she said smth like "the upsides of being a lesbian are.." and idk if that was referring to bailey or not but i found that interesting
• the group dynamic wasnt there until the last three episodes which was like again, the writers fault but them getting the bracelets out of nowhere was so confusing
• THE LGBTQ SHIPS THIS SEASON (canon and non canon) WERE SO GOOD BYE- BAILEY WAS DEF A SHIPPABLE CHARACTER AND UGH I JUST LOVED IT. FINN MY TRANS BABY!!
• now finally, the gen 2 chicken girls and they're PLOTLINE THIS SEASON. 10a was pointless but 10b. wtf was going on! nothing was working out and simone deserved sm better. claire and bel were SUCH trashy friends. poppy wasn't even given a bracelet so idk why she thought she was a chicken girl?! the existence of leyla was also 100% wiped and it felt like everyone forgot her?? claire also got so mad at simone for giving the bracelets away when she and bel didn't even care about the group the whole season💀
final thoughts:
sorry this was like a 85% bashing on the new season but chicken girls has gotten such a downgrade over time. the fans honestly deserve better if any of them are even still watching lmao. i think we are getting a season 11 bc of the cliffhanger as well as corrine joy (simone) posting a tiktok of them filming. if we do get a season 11, ill probably tune in and give my opinions but that's all for now. i would say to the chicken girls fans and anyone else to give this season a watch in your free time. it isn't terrible but it isn't the best we've ever seen from chicken girls *ahem seasons 3 and 7*. anyways, yeah it is worth somewhat of a watch. the start of the season compared to the ending is astronomical on how much of a change it was. ok bye now haha

911 Lone Star Rewatch: 1x04
I'm so behind. But I have not forgotten!
Alright let me try to make sense of my thoughts.
Tornado episode! So was this episode meant to serve as the mid-season finale? Were they trying to match it up with a OG 911 finale episode?
Gotta say, as someone who grew up in tornado alley I have literally never reacted to a tornado siren with that much urgency and panic unless I can see the tornado. Normally, you like look out the window first.... begrudgingly get up and go to the basement... turn on the weather channel to see updates.
You know what, Owen being in the towers on 9/11 is such a good backstory for Owen. And it does feel like that arc of him dealing with that trauma culminated in the season 3 finale and now we've moved on to his stuff with his dad and now his brother. But I really do appreciate all the 9/11 stuff with him.
This show deals with religion a fair amount--but its a lot of different religions. Like obviously, Judd Grace Tommy, etc. are Christian. But then there's also Marjan's deep connections to Islam. And TK's ties aren't to Judaism are not quite as strong, but certainly still there. It's just interesting that all three of the major Abrahamic religions are represented in storylines in this show. I feel like typically it's only one (and usually just Christianity).
Oh wow, Michelle! Haven't watched the show in five days and I already forgot that she is in the first season.
And Michelle's mother.... listen. No offense to this actress..... but.... I don't think she's good (lol). I just don't believe anything she says. Like the emotion is missing. And it does not help with my investment in the Iris storyline.
I deeply feel for Paul making food that has to adhere to several different food restrictions. Not to sound like a boomer, but millennials and gen z are so difficult to cook for!!
Seeing probie Matteo makes me want them to get another probie. It's just such a funny dynamic. Like I get that there's already so many people in the cast so it probably wouldn't work, but a girl can dream.
I love that almost every call starts with them like assuring the person "we're gonna get you out :)" and then they immediately turn to each other like, "how the hell are we getting them out of there..."
Man, I haven't been appreciating firefighter TK as much as I should be! Look at him in his turnout gear! Though, admittedly. He really shines so much more as a paramedic. Even in this first season and early season 2 his best moments are more paramedic adjacent.
And so concludes our state mandated break that we all spent standing and talking about work.
Ahh the first instance of the dysfunctional couple! Locked in the gun safe.
Something about Owen saying "I would have done the same thing" when the guy is freaking out about his kids still being in the collapsed house. Just makes me think about Owen finding TK unresponsive in his apartment and all the distress in his voice. Ughhhhhh. He really does love his boy so much. (Judd also refers to him as 'your boy' this episode)
Which of course he takes TK's helmet from him so he can go into the house instead of him because of how high the risk of secondary collapse is.
TK running to hug his dad!! While the kids are hugging their dad!! And that dad is hiding medical issues as well!!
Matteo and Owen's chat after that call is so great. No toxic masculinity nonsense here! Look at those future roomies bonding.
(The coloring seems wayyy less blue than I remember it being... did they fix it or am I just going crazy??)
TK already looks so upset when he's leaving Owen's office. Cuz he's already found the pill bottle and knows something is up.
They make Michelle's mother calling seem so dramatic when Michelle is on the phone and then she arrives and the mom is all 'oh yeah look at the shed'. She just... sounds so unenthused.
Grace having to tell Judd not to say Jackass at church is so funny.
Owen is just so gentle with TK and it makes me emotional.
Another episode done (albeit late) 10/10! Next up is the semi-controversial Studs. Which I have already watched, I just need to type up my thoughts.
