New episode review time. Warning: this one is LONG. SPOILERS AHEAD!
This one was kinda... also boring. These are just some uncoordinated thoughts. Also I might make a rewrite of this episode soon, so look forward to that.
To start off positive, the backgrounds of Lust and Ozzie's mansion/castle(?) are pretty. Um, Ozzie and Fizz are kinda cute together. (But did anyone get this weird sense that Ozzie was infantalizing Fizz, or is that just me?) That little "I love words" from Stolas got a chuckle out of me. Ozzie patching Fizz up at the end was also cute. One more thing, I wanna see striker get more unhinged in the future.
Now for negatives. The dick jokes. Especially that one joke that went on for too long. Crimson and Striker weren't needed for this episode, the conflict could've just been with Blitz and Fizz getting into wacky hijinks.
Stolas is here because yes. He also didn't need to be in this episode. He's here because he wants to give his victim- I mean love interest an Asmodean Crystal. And when telling Ozzie, he conveniently leaves out the part where he coerces Blitz into sex so he can have the ability to keep doing his job. This is peak queer representation guys, I swear.
So Ozzie gets a ransom video from Crimson making demands. Did this show forget that imps are supposed to be the lowest in Hell's society, because I think this show forgot. And Crimson calls Ozzie "the weakest and non-threatening of the sins". Stolen joke here, I saw someone somewhere ask how Ozzie is the most non-threatening when Kesha Beelzebub exists. And Ozzie does jack shit the rest of the episode, like... motherfucker, you are a DEADLY SIN. WHAT IS STOPPING YOU FROM INCINERATING EVERYONE!?
Blah, blah, blah. Blitz and Fizz argue, then they break out, then we get to what everyone was looking forward to: Fizz's backstory. I'm so excited to see their falling out and everything that led to it- oh, it's a 15 second flashback. That flashback should have been the whole episode, man. I think I'm gonna save my critiques for it in the rewrite post.
Fizz sings a song to distract everyone from seeing Blitz, and it's mid. They get out, Striker does whatever, and getting tired of writing this review, you already know how it ends. Bye.
EDIT: I heard somewhere that there was a scene that made Fizz's VA Alex Brightman cry. I think it was the kaiju dick joke. It made him cry from how cringe it was, lol.

(Minor Story Mode (Ep1-8) + Major Tower of Sweet Chaos Spoilers Ahead)

I've seen the people over at self aware genshin mention this idea multiple times, so I thought I would talk about it in the context of self aware crk - this has most likely been done.
Imagine if the cookies can hear what you put in the background as you play?
Listen to documentaries? They're gonna think you're some kind of archivist, especially since you seem to randomly watch them during important moments.
Music? They're gonna assume you had a hand in it.
Commentary Videos or those Reddit videos? Back to thinking you're some all knowing archivist, even if these particular events are day to day goings of average people.
Pop on a crime podcast? They're freaked it's not getting a reaction out of you if they don't realise what it is (to that in a second)- would they assume you're being briefed on some crime??
When you get to Earthbread you might not even be able to convince them for a long time that you really didn't have a hand in any of it. Depending on how much admiration they actually hold for you, they might just wave it off as you being extremely modest or even slightly self deprecating.
Now that I think about it, although mobile phones are seen in ovenbreak promo material (I think?), I don't *think* it's mentioned in crk, and considering the use of letters in story mode + envoys in the Creme Republic, they might not even know all the audio is pre-recorded. They might assume whatever you're listening to is in the room with you.
Oh god, what if you listened to audio of crk Cutscenes as you played crk. Imagine listening to Tower of Sweet Chaos and accidentally revealing that not only are White Lily and D.E are the same person, but that the witches ate cookies. Simultaneously traumatised every single cookie you've gotten so far. Also-- if they're not aware enough to realise they're fictional characters, you've basically time travelled from their perspective. Wtf???
I personally listen to a combination of commantary and folk music, so I'd imagine it'd be weird asf to hear about modern topics, then suddenly sing about mythology, and considering Earthbread has magical beings, they'll probably assume the mythology is grounded in some truth, or that you're even involved in//witnessed some of these stories.
Overall, it depends where crk is technologically. If they don't have devices with the ability to record audio, then you might have a lot of explaining to do.
The cookies are either scared or confused maybe even both.
But I can how some may call baker “The One With Many Voices”, then thinking that maybe your telling stories or events that already happened or going to happen, like a prophecy.
Oh just imagine the chaos when they hear their voice and get spoilers for future events. That’s one of the many reasons why the cookies see you as some form of god can see into the future and tell prophecy’s.
If they don’t have stuff like taboo or audio recordings then yes Mc has a lot of explaining to do, you might even make radios and audio recorders and these cookies will treat them as the greatest treasures.
If they do have that stuff some may ask what channel, station, or just where you heard them from. They want to have this thing you guys call “Reddit”.

the past week has been stressful to say the least, your studies crammed in with personal issues have made it hard to feel enthusiastic about anything. but you never projected how you felt onto other since you didn't want them to worry about you, especially ricky.
ricky was your boyfriend and someone you've known for a long time. but since ricky was busy promoting 'in bloom', you never wanted to worry him about you.
one day when you were sitting at your desk, yet again studying for another night, you got a call from ricky.
you needed a break anyways and picked up the call, on the other end you heard his sweet voice say your name.
"(name)! can you believe it?! our song ranked first on the melon chart!" he exclaimed. you heard his members shouting in the background.
you smiled, "yeah, congrats ricky!" but he could tell from the tone of your voice that something was up.
"is everything okay?" his tone changed to be more concerned sounding.
"uh...i guess. it's just a lot of stress, you know, studying and managing personal issues." you didn't know why but you felt scared to open up to ricky about this, but you knew he would never judge you.
"ah, i see." he began, "do you want to meet up and we can talk? maybe to get your mind off of things?" he suggested. your eyes lit up at him saying that, you haven't been able to see him in a while and he was taking time out of his schedule to meet with you.
"really? you can do that?" he chuckled, "i can do anything baby. i'll ask our manager and see if we can have time to meet up." suddenly you were so thankful you ran into him at the park where you two first met.
"thank you so much ricky, you really know how to brighten my day."
"of course, i'll see you later okay?", you didn't want to hang up but knew he had other things to do, "yeah, see you. i love you."
"i love you too. bye!" and with that the call cut.
that same night ricky texted you and said that you two could meet together the next day at the park where you first met him. your heart was fluttering at the memories of that day. when ricky approached you and tried conversing with you, despite being obviously shy and stumbling over his words when he saw you.
the next day, you put on your best outfit and walked to the nearby park. it was pretty busy with locals and their pets hanging out. some kids were running around and laughing.
you were going to look for a spot to sit and that's when you spotted him. there was ricky sitting there with a picnic basket and pink blanket! he was looking around the park trying to find you!
what made it even more special was that he was sitting at the same place you were those years ago.
you called out his name and his eyes widened as he grinned, waving at you. you quickly ran towards him and pulled him into your arms.
"i missed you." he giggled and held your hand gently when you pulled away. "me too. i wanted to make this day special so i brought some homemade food."
you gasped, "you made this for me?!" he nodded then took out some of the food. there was some sandwiches with snacks included. the sandwiches included cream and strawberries inside.
"well not just me, gyuvin and matthew offered to help." you saw how the strawberries looked a bit smushed and ricky quickly defended himself, "that was gyuvin's."
you pressed your lips on his, "even if it is smushed i appreciate your hard work in doing this for me. i couldn't have asked for someone better."
ricky softly put your head on his shoulder. "i'm glad. i hope this helped you take a break from everything..."
"just having you with me is a reliever ricky. i'm so thankful you did this for me."
the silence was comforting. the sound of the trees moving and people chatting made the aroma better. after speaking to ricky about what has recently been going on in your life with him continuously holding your hand, you indulged in the sandwiches (you had the one that ricky made since he insisted you eat his) and drank his homemade milkshakes.
just having him listen to your worries and letting you rant with no interruptions was all you needed. this was what you needed all along and ricky was the perfect person you could be completely honest and open with.
when the sunset approached, you decided to walk home with your boyfriend. it was then that you had to go separate ways but you didn't want to escape ricky's warm embrace.
"hanbin hyung is going to scold me if i don't make it by eight." ricky joked, opening his phone to see the group chat bombarding him with questions of where he went.
"then if you're going your own way, i want to say thank you ricky. all my stress has worn away by being with you. you seriously have made everything better. i'm so glad to call you mine."
without words, he closed the gap between you two and kissed you directly on the lips. your hand went to cup his cheek and his wrapped around your waist.
you didn't want to pull away but ricky's phone buzzed causing you both to jump and release from the kiss.
"it's hanbin hyung." you pouted, "promise me you'll invite me to go on another date when you have free time?" you put your pinky finger out.
he interlinked your pinky's and kissed you on the cheek, "for sure."
ricky left first, waving at you the whole time until he was out of sight, you sighed but began walking home on your path.
though he was always busy, he was always there to comfort you. you were not alone today thanks to ricky.

I went to university. 🤓..... Not really! 🫤 I visited my sister and my cuz M. there, to...... take pics of bugs.🤷♀️
Ana and Mario didn't go to exactly the same university. Ana studied something different from our Cuousin. She continued with that dull business thing and he studied cine technology and something else. I'm not sure? 😬 (Idk the exact technical name for it.)
But their universities were on the same campus & they also lived in the same dorm.
Yesterday Ana and I arrived there, at her dorm (I got 2 weeks off) and this morning, I accompanied her and M. to their campus. Because, I also had a job. I worked on a university project with my cuz.😁
But back to yesterday. Last night I couldn’t sleep. I kept dreaming about Daniel and I also had withdrawal symptoms.🤦♀️So I walked like a ghost through the halls of that student housing, to get tired and distract myself. Well....
a.... crazy student who also lived there wanted to get off with me. 🤨... "Just fuck off, man!", I thought. But instead of saying that to him, I did something extremely stupid.🤦♀️ I was so desperate and my pain so strong.... I asked him for drugs. And as if all this wasn't already embarrassing enough, my cousin M. came out of his room. We were standing right in front of his door in that hallway.
He recorded something for college and the background noises that this guy & I made, were on his recording/tape, so he couldn’t continue working. He asked us to.... shut the fuck up! He was a bit pissed, you know? 😬... However, that weirdo left. About that drug & my conditon, I'm not going to talk about it today.... M. asked me what was going on? He didn’t know what happend to D. & me. .... So I told him....
He couldn’t believe Daniel just left. He was there at our wedding and saw how happy Daniel was... M. asked me a ton of questions... But... yea. I didn't really wanna talk... So my cousin had an idea for me. He asked me to help him with his college project. That way, he tried to bring me to other thoughts. 💚
He remembered that I used to like taking pictures, when we were "little", which was a pretty nice hobby of mine for a while. He needed some close-ups of different things, actually it didn’t matter what, but it had to be in nature/ out doors. Somehow I liked this idea and also felt pretty good helping my baby cuz. The next day I made my way for some nice shoots, as you can see above.
However, that was not all I did that day. The nice stranger I met online at the Sims 4 Gallery, also had a little task/job for me. He wanted me, to write him a love letter, handwritten!! 🤣 (He's so crazy!) When he wanted this from me, I had the strong suspicion that it's Nico, who texted me. And this was also his intention! He wanted me to think of him. Cos those... love letters, I have actually written to him in the past., when he & I were just on the phone.
Nico wanted me to get him back in my mind, he wanted me to think about him and not Daniel. I asked him if he was Nico, the stranger who texted me?? But he never really gave me a clear answer. He just said, I’ll find out who he really is and no matter who he is. Nico or not, I won’t be disappointed. The person who is texting me, is definitely not as he once was, he said. .. WTF? Ha?.... That's so confusing! But I was pretty sure, it's Nico. He knew that I love Sims and play regularly. So suddenly everything he told me weeks before, made sense now. But I'm gonna tell next time more about that, when I see Philip.

Not am I only feeling very critical towards Taylor Swift due to her choice in Guy She's Dating right now and the implications about where her morals REALLY lie and questioning now how much of her activism has been for publicity but also what the fuck is she doing with all this marketing nonsense happening.
The exclusive CD just for "You're Losing Me" when her show tickets are so hard to come by for many folks, the Karma feat. Ice Spice collab is weirdly put together. Rap isn't my favorite music but even I am aware that Ice Spice is VERY talented yet the song kinda??? Fails to play into her strengths??? Also since Taylor recently released Karma as a single you'd think she'd actually wait until the Ice Spice version was ready and release THAT version as a single. Then of course there's the mess of He Who I Am Not Gonna Name and his garbage plus his beef with Ice Spice then the timing of this release...doesn't look good. Now I'm still feeling inclined to think this collab has probably been in the works for a little while at least since I can only imagine the legal side of things takes some time. But at the same time the poorer quality (in my opinion) of Ice Spice's parts does contribute to it feeling a little rushed. Seriously I don't hate the idea of this collab at all but it really feels like they just tried to shove Ice Spice in there instead of naturally making room for her.
And furthermore, I just kinda personally despise "Feat. MORE Lana Del Rey" The song sounds great. If rumor is to be believed this was how the song was supposed to turn out but Lana didn't know what part she was supposed to sing?? So it was submitted as the original version??? And Taylor just left it??? Instead of reaching out and saying hey actually let's rework this??? Like girl you have sooo much money you can easily get back in that recording studio wtf. I do actually like how the original Snow on the Beach but at the same time I'm so confused as to why it was allowed to just go forward if this newer version was supposed to be the original version. It feels like either the original SOTB was never supposed to be a duet only a feature and it was overly marketed as a duet or...Taylor and/or her label really not paying attention. Don't like either of those. So, to rerecord what should have already existed in the first place to sell a whole priced album again for one new song (which wasn't a new song since apparently it was on physical additions of Midnights), one collab that needed more time in the oven, and now the "real" version of an existing song stupidly called "feat. MORE Lana del Rey"...Seriously you guys couldn't have extended the music a bit and called it "extended edition" or something. For some reason just the way it's titled and knowing the supposed background of the song has me scratching my head and feeling a little rubbed the wrong way.
I don't know if I'm explaining this coherently at all but the whole situation feels a lot like a mess, a bit of a scam, and a lot like a PR move. Feels to me like Taylor's got a lot of yes men in her corner at the moment. And I'm sure she's plenty powerful enough to go "actually I'm still gonna do what I want" even if there are people telling her no. But really feels like she's flying in so many chaotic and messy directions at once with no one telling her she should slow it down, reign it in and think about this a little more. She's very smart and very talented yes, I am still a fan of hers! I've been a fan since 2006! But not gonna lie! I feel deceived and betrayed by her thanks to her being with MH and a lot of her business decisions lately are very confusing. Don't even get me started on how CHEAP the VIP boxes and a lot of this tour merch is turning out to be despite how expensive it all is.
Taylor, can I ask YOU a question. What the fuck.

The animation is really sharp geez. I generally prefer 2D animation but there's a lot of character to the expressions and motions - I think they really pulled it off!

This last episode of The Gilded Age made me cry AGAIN. this show is perfection and I am so here for what's coming next. Spoilers under cut cuz I have mutuals who arent caught up to the most recent episode. I'm not talking about EVERYTHING tho cuz I only remember the big parts tbh.
HOLY SHIT okay so first off, Peggy and the reporter guy whose name I always forget KISSED last episode!!!!
So glad Marian was like GIRL HE'S MARRIED TF?!
Also the whole thing with the school closing, like I cannot believe they would just close it because it's a school for black kids wtf 1880's New York!! You're supposed to be more progressive, but yeah stark reminder of the times we're in during the show.
The whole thing with Mrs. Russell and Mrs. Winterton being all petty with each other now that Winterton has some pull with the old guard who are leaving the Academy for the Met??? 🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌. HERE. FOR. IT. love the bargaining to get the center box. Like Winterton, girl, this is BERTHA RUSSELL.
oh and speaking of hbic Mrs. Russell, the Duke is coming to the Met omfg her whole world just ended right there!! The look on her face when Larry and Gladys were like " Hey, were off to the party, see ya!"

So Dashiel puts the party together for the dedication of the solarium, but then as he's making a speech about it, he brings up Marian!!!
And then he starts going on this rant about moving back to NY to have his daughter grow up where he did and he didn't expect to fall in love

Like everyone was hella shocked and YALL THE SCREAM I SCREAMED WHEN THEY SHOWED LARRY'S FACE!!!! this poor man just got dumped by his boss/milfy widow just to come back to NY and see the other girl he liked get engaged. Big fat L for Larry.
Cut to Jack, he sent in for a patent for that clock piece he invented, and he gets denied because he's not part of a clockmakers guild or whatever.
Fucking Armstrong over here has to shit in his Cheerios and just talk mad shit like I cannot wait for her to say the wrong thing in front of Agnes. like you're on thin ice already because of all the racist shit you did and said to Peggy, Armstrong like what is your game plan???
So Mr. Russell goes to one of the union dudes houses. Like it's the same guy who came to his house but again, I forget their names
They talk for a min and it looks like Russell is having a small change of heart when he sees the man's family. The oldest son who doesn't look more than like 17 tells Russell that he's working in the mill too, to support his family.
Russell leaves and is greeted by a mob of people who work in the mills. Like they brought their families too so you see women with babies in their arms.
Rest of the episode is going back and forth between the smaller plots. Like Bannister and one of the other servants whose name I also forget seeing Church come back to the Russell home drunk, which ended up being that it was the 30th anniversary of the death of Church's wife who died so he got drunk.
Same small plot thing, Mrs. Astor, Mrs. Van Rhijn, and Mr. McAllister all come together to plot how to save the Academy since Winterton is taking a bunch of people and taking them to the Met.
Okay, now for the worst cry I had.
Forte and Ada come to visit Agnes after their honeymoon to Niagara Falls.He had been having some back pain and he went to some doctors
At first it was just like oh here's some pain meds to take care of it, let's go do some tests though.
Well....he goes to another specialist and he tells Forte that he has something more serious.
Cut to Marian coming to visit, she's thinking it's about her engagement to Dash, so she starts to talk about it with Ada
Ada was like "I didn't call for you?"
Forte comes out and says "I did. I need to talk to the both of you." And makes Ada and Marian sit.
Scene cuts to Marian rushing into the Van Rhijn house, Agnes, Oscar, and cousin Aurora are all there.
We find out that Uncle Forte as Marian calls him, has cancer. It's the kind that starts in the back and begins to spread. So it sounds like he has some sort of bone cancer?
Agnes immediately rushed over to Ada
Scene change and we go to Ada and Forte in his bed, she's cuddling him and telling him that they'll get through it. She starts to tear up which makes him cry.
The doorbell rings, and Ada goes downstairs
She sees Agnes there and she runs into her sister's arms.
The sobbing that Cynthia Nixon did here absolutely destroyed me.
Agnes saying to Ada, "I'm here. You've not to worry." Just reminded me of my brother doing that with me when our mom died and it broke me.
Agnes tried to get Ada and Forte to come to the Van Rhijn home but they said no
Props to Ada and Forte. Death with dignity will always be my stance and I think that's what is going to be implied here.
Mad props also go to Mr. Russell for not shooting the strikers. I think he's starting to have a change of heart with the robber baron tendencies.
All in all, GOOD EPISODE. MADE ME CRY. I LOVED IT. can't wait to see how the opening night will go lololol specially cuz Winterton doesn't know about Mr. Russell basically blackmailing the dude from the Met!! Ohohohohhooooo

eloise & phillip - i hadn’t even read the book and i knew paris was their song. i feel it captures their essence. “no, i didn't see the news 'cause we were somewhere else” while benophie are just as deep in the countryside, i think philoise truly don’t care about anything that goes on in the ton. “i want to brainwash you into loving me forever” i’m not sure why this line in particular stands out to me in context of their relationship. maybe because going into it they both had their agenda. also phillip constantly thinking he has to find a way to make eloise stay forever. “confess my truth in swooping, sloping, cursive letters” i think this one is self explanatory. secondly electric touch, i was hesitant about this one cause i’m just not a fan of this song sonically but the lyrics were too on point. “just breathe, just relax, it'll be okay // just the first time ever hanging out with you” - eloise sitting in her carriage on the way to meet a man who basically proposed to her without meeting once. from phillip’s “i've gotten used to no one callin' my phone” when eloise shows up and the servant’s “hey, we got a caller” and phillip going “wtf no one comes here, you sure about that”. also “i've grown accustomed to sleeping' alone” yeah eight years will do that. “i was thinking, just one time maybe the stars align, just one time and maybe I call you mine”
francesca & michael - so i have a story regarding this one. as i got to the second half of the book and the spice started flooding in, i felt like the need for some equally sexy music in the background and i remembered (honestly don’t know how i ever forgot) the altarpiece of taylor’s music false god. truly all the stars aligned, while i read the words “she felt cherished. worshipped. loved” miss taylor swift sang “we'd still worship this love”. other than that it does fall into the vibes category. tho if one day we are blessed enough to actually get their season i am expecting every social media feed to be drowning in edits of franchel to this song. but also alternatively to don’t blame me. again, sexy. well the spice in this book was just on another level and i also couldn’t figure out if taylor has a song about being in love with your cousins spouse for six years. i think this is more from michael’s perspective. i mean “i've been breaking' hearts a long time” he even broke mine by being fictional. “if you walk away i'd beg you on my knees to stay” michael stirling would absolutely do this and frankly i can’t stop picturing it. if we do get to them in the show some glorious day, this is my official plea to include this song in the soundtrack.
gregory & lucy - speak now is the somewhat lazy choice but have you read the prologue timed to this song. “i hear the preacher say, "speak now or forever hold your peace"” the church went silent “there's the silence, there's my last chance. i stand up with shaky hands, all eyes on me” the priest stopped his drone, and every spine in every pew twisted until every face was turned to the back. to him. “horrified looks from everyone in the room but i'm only looking at you” she said nothing, but he saw her. // she looked so beautiful. i rest my case. it was really hard to pick a song for them because there’s so many twists and turns in the book so my honourable mentions are haunted (when gregory convinced everything is solved and then lucy goes and marries another man) and daylight. finally i settled with ivy. “my pain fits in the palm of your freezing hand, taking mine but it's been promised to another” i mean lucy has been promised to another man from the start of the book. it just fits them, okay (can you tell i’ve been writing this for four hours at this point).
hyacinth & gareth - dear god, hyacinth is my favourite character in the whole books series. i adore her but for the love of god i could not figure out what songs to choose for hyareth. it was truly a headache and if anyone has any suggestions, please do not hesitate to tell me. because they are such a chaotic and energetic duo, i wanted something that would fit them musically but ended up picking cowboy like me and peace. both are truly in the vibes category, i don’t have much of an explanation. in cowboy like me “and the skeletons in both our closets plotted hard to fuck this up” felt kinda reminiscent of the whole polt line with gareth and his father who wasn’t really his father. peace has a little more substance to it. in my head this is more from hyacinth, she is wild and you will never get bored with her but she can also be a lot and tiring. “you know that i'd swing with you for the fences, sit with you in the trenches. give you my wild, give you a child” this is who hyacinth is, she is a ride or die, and i truly believe she would sit in the trenches with gareth.

you just got off your shift and were making your way to your girlfriend max’s house to check in on her and take care of her, when you pull up to the trailer park you notice max’s mom’s car in front of their trailer. it relieves you a little bit that max isn’t alone just in case something happens. you park your car and walk into the trailer with the spare key you have, you’re greeted with the television on and max’s mom passed out on the couch, there’s also a light call for help in the background that isn’t from the tv,
“can s-someone help? please?” it’s max. you hurry towards where the voice is coming from and see max on the floor of her bedroom trying to grab onto something to help her up,
“oh god max!” you grab onto her hand and help her up steadying her, “are you okay? how long have you been down here?”
“i don’t know 15 minutes?” she holds onto you tight,
your eyebrows knit together 15 minutes and her mom didn't notice, you walk max over to her bed, "i'll be right back m'kay stay here i'll be 5 minutes."
"wait where are you going?"
"jus' wanna talk to your mom honey," you walk out before max can protest, when you get into the living room you see max's mom awake watching tv,
"oh y/n! when did you get here?"
"so you were just gonna leave her there?" you spit,
"what are you talking about?"
"i know damn well you heard her! she was yelling for help susan!"
susan gets up of the couch and stands face to face with you, "are you saying i just let her lay there?"
"you weren't helping her! she told me she was on the ground for 15 minutes. you're telling me that you didn't hear her yell for help once?"
"i just thought you were getting here anyways. and when i heard her first you were already in the driveway. so why would i get up when you're here to take care of her?"
you laugh in disbelief, "i knew you were shitty but fuck, you're terrible!" you wipe your palm down your face, "I'm taking max home with me, and when she tells me she wants to come back here i might let her come back. but she doesn't need to be here if all you do is neglect her."
"you have some nerve comin' in here y/n and telling me where my daughter is going," she shouts,

Hey guys i've found myself defending America and it feels weird but can yall tell me if I'm in the wrong here?
(its long im sorry)
TLDR: My friend is an international student, we got in a joking argument about soccer vs football that ended in accusations of racism and McCarthyism. Did I take it too far?

I go to a private college in America (in the south) that I have worked hard to get a full tuition scholarship so I can afford to attend. I have a friend who also goes here that is an international student from New Delhi. I'll call her N.
N is very sweet, but she has the tendency to get very peeved about the culture differences between India and America. I have met plenty of other international students who are also from India (there are a LOT of international students this year) and most of them are very chill and embrace the multicultural area that the school is located in.
I am also, as we may know, an avid arguer. I'm a philosopher at heart. I think disagreements let me get to know people better through how they argue (which helps me know if they'd be a good friend. idk its the tism ig).
So N and I were chilling and out of the blue they send me a reel about how non-americans get mad when americans say soccer and not football. I sent back "its true cuz we're fine with them calling it football but they pop off whenever we say soccer" and she responds with "Because you're saying it wrong."
We've had convos like this and I normally assume they're being light hearted and pretending like its a big thing, so I responded kinda sarcastically "damn learn how to accept peoples differences" and she said "not if theyre american"
Like ok shes being sarcastic back but it feels weird. I started bantering about how other countries also say soccer (australia, south africa, new guinea) and she says "yes but only in the US and canada you haveto clarify what you mean when you say football because yall stole the name."
This confused me cuz tf you mean "you stole the name." First off I didn't do shit, second off how the fuck do you steal a sport? I said exactly that and she replies with "Nothing in america is your own" and holy shit im actually defending america wtf. This is not like me. But im not defending its history or its government, im defending the culture of it cus thats honestly the only good part of it. So respond with a cheeky lil "and isnt that beautiful" and she says "its yall being stupid."
I say "its a melting pot" and she says "a melting pot takes inspiration." I got a lil pissed at this because ok so did immigrants and enslaved people just spawn here? Did they steal their own cultures from their home countries?
They went on for a bit about how america is built off of appropriation, which it is fair that cultures are constantly being appropriated, but there are also cultures constantly being celebrated and fused, and that fusion and appreciation is what has the lasting impact.
I say this and she says "whatever im not arguing with an American" which of course I have to shit headedly respond with "imagine being reductive sorry I'm different than you"
She then responds with "bitch ur white" which yes. But does that mean I dont come from a diverse background and dont have culture? I respond "Yes and I live in a wonderfully diverse city of people who come from different cultures that I learn about and respect and love" and girl goes "those places dont exist in america" THEN WHERE AM I??? SPAIN???
We are literally in one of the most diverse and culture-rich cities in the south (ill give you 3 guesses) and she is saying that there isnt diversity and respect anywhere in america.
Skip forward a bit, she says that america has no culture, then corrects that to say "white america has no culture." That fucked with me a bit because its sus as shit to use the idea of "white america" and "poc america" in an argument. I said that and said that you can't give a concrete definition to "white culture" or "black culture" or "latine culture" cuz thats literally stereotyping
She said that prayer is a big part of indian culture, but isnt necessarily an overall truth for every person, which is fair. So I said then wouldn't American culture be like the national anthem. She said no because every country had a national anthem. I said that prayers are part of other cultures too, but that doesnt take away from the fact that theyre parts of other cultures too.
She then said that the national anthem isnt culture because "thats only for white people" and "a lot of america is only for white people (meaning its been used to disenfranchise poc people but she worded it in a way that sounded a smidge racist but no shade) And I said yea it fucking sucks and its forced upon us but its still well known. Theres no way that prayer isn't used to disenfranchise religious minorities in India, but its still culture.
She then said that white culture and american culture isnt a thing but black and latine culture is, (which tbh neither of us can really speak on, I was mainly discussing the american and latine element cuz I can speak on those) and I said that denying that american culture is just a mix of cultures evolving parallel over time simply because a bunch of shitty white guys founded the country is ignoring the people who have worked hard to make america their home and to carve out a spot for their own culture in this country. Just because people fucking sucked (like they have in the history of every fucking country ever) doesn't mean that people arent working to make the world better in their wake.
She said that poc culture in america stems from years of oppression. I agreed, but I said that racism and oppression isnt an America-exclusive thing. She said "you said you dont deny that what youre denying is racist. So that means you're being racist."
This confused me, so I asked "where did I deny that something was racist." Also I'm pre law, so I started getting a lil pre-law-y here. Don't judge me its a survival instinct I got from my parents lmao. She said "I said if you refuse to accept that black and brown cultures are real youre being racist." I said "show me what message I said that."
She said "chill babe theres no need to get defensive" which is literally the worst thing to say to me because boom youve made me into a defense attorney. I hate being patronized. I said "I am not being defensive, you are making accusations with no regard for evidence." (my profs would like that line)
She goes "this isnt a court of law girl" ok girl you act like youre gonna say that america doesnt have culture and then call me racist? I really just wanted this to end so I pulled out the mccartheyism card and said "you cant red scare roundabout logic your way out of being reductive and oversimplifying an enormously widespread country." and we were done. I know I ended it on an accusatory note which I hate, but I feel like shes ignoring so much thats literally going on in front of her face. Did I go too far? I know that I did and I shouldn'tve started the "youre being reductive" circle, but genuinely, the cure to culture shock isnt to be indignant about every difference you see, its to accept it. Its the same in literally every country. You cant just say "no I dont want to."

I want to hear everything about James calling Lily "Firefly" in Tall Dark and Glasses!
Haha, I love this question. So what's important to know here is...I wrote this story in basically one sitting, from roughly 11pm to 4am. Because I procrastinated, lmao. So not a ton of forethought went into the granular details, to be honest. The prompt (which I forgot to include) was something like "I'm having a bad day but watching you fail to stack cards in this coffee shop is making me smile." Which, when I first read it, I was like.......wtf am I gonna do with that. Like, I got the story all the way up to him interrupting her stacking those cards and I still had no idea why she was even doing it xD
But, the entire story centered around the one thing I did have in mind from the start, which was Lily calling him "Tall Dark and Glasses." So when he asked for her name and I got the sense that he was surprised by it, I realized it was because he had to have given her some nickname, too (because I am obsessed with symmetry/patterns in my stories). But I didn't want to go with the usual "Red" or "Ginger" -- it's James, he has to be clever. So I started playing around with nicknames related to those words. I considered gingersnap, but I think I'd heard that used in a fic ages ago, and I wanted to be original. I thought about different things I could do with red, but that eventually got me to thinking about fire, and that's when the word came to me. And when he said it, I still had no idea why he called her that. Not until he started explaining it, and then I just thought to myself, "damn, dude, that actually makes sense. nice job, jp." 😆so yeah, that's all the background technicalities of how "Firefly" came to be.
Now, to just let that James in my head run free for a minute so he can tell us both more about this nickname:
The first thing I noticed about her was her red hair, of course. Well, and the fact that she was always nearly bumping into people, which probably would not have been as endearing if she weren't also jaw-droppingly gorgeous. So I dunno, she just had all this buzzing energy about her, and half the time all I caught of her was a little blaze of red flashing by before she was gone again. I'm not normally one for random nicknames, that's Sirius' thing, but after a few weeks of seeing her I was just so captivated. I mean, here is this woman who's probably the most beautiful person I've ever seen, and you can just tell she has no idea. But I didn't...like that she had no idea, it wasn't humble, it was -- contained. Like she was too busy being...whatever it was she was so wrapped up in, to even really notice herself. Which just made me notice her more. And eventually I started telling Sirius about her, whatever the new thing was I'd noticed that day, but just calling her "the girl from the coffee shop" didn't feel right, so I tried, "the redhead" but that also did her such a disservice, so finally Sirius gets fed up with me and tells me I should just ask her out already, but I told him, "When am I supposed to do that? I can never pin her down! She's always...all over the place, here and then gone, rushing about, she's like a little buzzing bee..." and that's when I saw it: her standing at the door, hair burning bright, and then disappearing in a blink. "No. Like a firefly," I told him. He was as confused as she was by the comparison, but he didn't see her like I did. As soon as I said the word, I knew it was right.
Now that I've gotten to know her, though, I'd say even the magic of a firefly doesn't do her justice. She's a firefly, and she's a small, life-saving fire in the middle of a snow storm, and a bonfire so bright it eats up the stars, and the swaying flame of a candle in a dark room, small and unassuming and hypnotic and dangerous. I haven't told her any of those things, because she'd probably deny half of them and smack me for the rest. Plus, she gave me the fucking nickname Tall Dark and Glasses, and until she comes up with something better than that, no way am I admitting she's got me thinking of poetic fire metaphors.

IM BACK i got so busy right around when the last chapter was posted but im HERE NOW. and ive been reading so much,,
all the lore from chapter 36 was SO GOOD im so sad im late to it but ohhhhhmygod. so much going on there and setting up REALLY good parallels between y/n and naoya when it comes to their relationships w their parents. the way both of them had their mother slowly get more and more distant due to circumstances outside of their control/caused by some fucked up third party... ough...
this also reveals so much DRAMA like WHO CURSED Y/N'S MOTHER?? im throwing hands. and thats such a fucked up TYPE of curse too the way it fucks with the personality/behavior-- someone REALLY hated her huh
but ohmygodmyGOD chapter 37 has SO MUCH going on. like just starting off with matsuo being. insufferable. man. can a woman not get a drink in this house.
the entirety of this chapter is SO rich with so much emotion... like the way they're finally feeling like a couple is so sweet?? i KNEW naoya had it in him to be nice, even if it does take being on his death-bed for it to happen..
THE WEDDING RING HE CARRIES THE RING ON A NECKLACE W HIM AUAHUGHEHGH,,, i cant even begin to describe how emotional that made me
the last section of the chapter where they're just talking to each other for once means SO much after having read the last 36 chapters of animosity and standoffishness like they're FINALLY talking and like. seeing each other? as people? its SUCH a pivotal moment and at the same time so small and domestic its amazing
AND HES GOING TO TRY TO LET HER SEE HER FAMILY AGAIN?? that opens up SO much drama and so many questions like-- is he going to stick to that when he recovers? CAN he stick to that or like he said is he not in a position to negotiate that much? (would he help her sneak out or sneak in a way for her to see them somehow if it came to that?) what kind of interaction would that even BE for her to see them again after so long-- would it lead to them not wanting to let her leave/go back to the zenin estate? theyd for sure know somethings up..
my favorite couple is finally coupling. 12/10. still obsessed w them

I'm telling you, I didn't mean to make it that way but how Naoya and Y/N ended up being similar to one another is... wow, perfection. And ironic haha Y/N hates Naoya so, so much, that she literally can't see him as anything else but like complete opposites I mean, if you were to tell her "Hey, the two of you have similar backgrounds" she'd be like "ew no wtf!!!"
Which is why she was so baffled to learn that it's true 😭 they share the pain of having loss a mother, and in some ways, being disliked by their own family.
Also, for Minako's curse... I don't intend to explore more about it, so I'll just say it was someone very, very jealous of her and her children. Someone that just wanted to see the family burn, you know? (LOL, it makes it seem like Eiichi had some secret admirer or something. Or maybe her?! Like the yandere type "If I can't have you, no one can!!" Oof, I hope not on either accounts)
Now onto chapter 37 :>
The way Matsuo's behavior did a 180 was... I don't know what I was expecting, for it to not happen?? Let's be real, that man as soon as he got a bit of power decided to abuse it. Probably some resentment towards Y/N and her staff, how happy they are and the good relationship they have with her or whatever. Honestly, I do not care about that man. (I wonder what Naoya's reaction will be once he figures out how he's been treating her... HMMM)
I'm so glad you liked the fluffy parts with Naoya hahahahah even though as you said, it's when he's sick... oh, I just hope it doesn't all go away when he's not sick anymore, you know? GOD this whole thing hurts me so much for Y/N hahahah like she's trying so desperately to hold onto the fact that maybe this is the change she was unwittingly hoping for, that Naoya finally woke up from his stupidity and decided to act like a proper husband.
Because more than leaving the house, I think she, very, very deep inside, wants this whole thing to work. I mean, who wouldn't... she grew up in a loving family where her mom and dad loved each other very, very much. It's only natural that she wants something like that too if it ever happened! And Naoya... oof, he's handsome, rich, and she doesn't have to put herself in danger in order to make a living. At that point it was a win-win... until his personality came out 💀💀💀 Anyways, it's difficult, but I WILL MAKE IT WORK. I PROMISE.
Also, if you liked their interactions on this chapter, I think you're going to like the next one 😏 (Idk if it's worth anything, but I always thought Naoya would be like Kang Dooshik from Pearl Boy when he's not being a raging misogynist)
As for the promise... that is something we'll see next chapter as well. What's going to happen with it and whatnot. I'm like Y/N right now, a bit shocked that it happened, but on edge to see if it's true 😭 after all, it's a pretty heavy promise to make ... but that is something only Naoya can choose.
I just hope all the pieces are falling in place (correctly, I mean HAHAH) for that one chapter!!! I can't wait to write it, I think we're like... 2/3 chapters away from it. I swear, everything that will happen next is leading to that moment.
And I gotta say, thank you for being patient with me 🥺❤️ I swear, everything that is happening leads to that. EVERYTHING!!!! I just hope it pays off!!!! If not, I'll disappear from the internet. The shame of it all.... hahaha.

Hey girl!!!! I'm back again after what feels like ages! But I was on my "thirsting on f1 drivers" phase and couldn't read anything else for a couple of months. Anyways. I just binged read the last 3 chapters and WTF was that smut? I'm so loving how Y/N is dirtyyyy. I was as shocked as Yoongi.
Ghostbusters trio is the best thing ever, Namjoon opening up and bratty Jungkook (I see what you are doing there). But it made me crazy that they didn't seem to care about the new couple, Tae was the only one to meet my expectations.
Alice is a genious, if I was ever jealous of her with Hoseok, I don't remember. And I was just expecting her plan come into action after the last smut. I was fully believing that someone would arrive accidently when they were finishing and hear everything!!!
I'm not even mad at the cliffhanger this time. I went through so many emotions while reading this last chapters, that Seokjin's confession would be too much right now.
Lastly, if you were ever in doubt about writing smut, it was totally pointless cause you rocked. Talented, that's what you are! Love you and can't wait for the next chapter. (I'm gonna update myself now reading the asks you answered while I was gone)

I love our ghostbusters!! I'm seriously so pumped to keep writing about all of their adventures. I think that over time with their investigations, it will give Namjoon and Jeongguk the opportunity to grow closer to Y/N, as they are some of the more distant hybrids. HA bratty Jeongguk... I love him, I can't wait to see him get all tender in the future. And finally, we get some background on our mysterious Namjoon 🥺 Those two are more concerned with their own hobbies than romance at the moment, which is why I think they were so nonchalant about her and Yoongi. Although, Namjoon may be harboring some secret wolfish jealousy. We'll see!
Alice is the friend we all need! While she flirted with Hoseok in the beginning, I highly doubt she'll do it any more because Y/N disclosed her feelings for all of the boys. Can you imagine how awkward it would have been if they were caught while Yoongi was balls-deep 💀 Of course, it's going to be unavoidable in the future that the others will be around while she's intimate with one in particular. I guess we'll cross that bridge when we get to it LOL 💀
Classic Dana cliffhanger! This time, though, I think it was necessary, like you said. The next chapter will open up with that scene, picking right up where we left off, so that's something to look forward to-- romance and feelings and our sweet Seokjin 🥺💕
