Halves company

Danny had a big problem: since a couple of days ago he had discovered that he didn't look good in pictures. He wasn't a vampire so he was actually in them but his eyes always looked bright green, and the photos left an eerie feeling.

His friends didn't mind, and his family much less (they had gotten along much better after revealing the whole secret), the problem was that he was due to take a trip to Gotham soon and he just knew he would have some pictures taken.

A couple of years ago Danny had accepted Vlad's request to "start over" and together they had formed a research company that specialized in several fields, among them: the technological field, advanced engineering, space engineering, and different ecto-related projects, although the latter was not revealed to the public.

Few months later "Wayne Enterprises" seemed very interested in their inventions for everyday life so they wanted to negotiate some deal and dig into their technology. Danny was fine with that, he had created those things to make people's lives easier.

The problem came when Bruce Wayne invited them to a gala, he told them that the "founders" of the company were very elusive about their identity (neither Vlad nor Danny liked cameras much in those days) and joked that it was a shell company for some illegal activities and it was better to check, Danny was not amused about it.

He accepted Bruce's invitation knowing full well that Vlad couldn't meet the challenge (or be polite about it), but once he got to the gala he saw all the reporters and knew he was screwed.

Would it be better to be unsettling or not appear in the photos at all?, he supposed it would be best to avoid all the cameras and say hello to Bruce or Lucius, talk a bit and then leave.

It was supposed to be easy: walk in, say hello, walk out; Of course, his plans had never been perfect, so before he knew it he was seeing the Wayne "kids", and a reporter from the Daily Planet looking extremely nervous.

Cannot stop thinking about Weird Barbie saying "it takes two to rip a portal 😛" Like, what was Margot Barbie's part in opening this connection? What was she feeling that was powerful enough to start to tear a hole between dimensions?? I've thought too much about it and now I have a theory.

It also answers the question of why this hasn't happened to other Barbies to the extent it's happened to Margot Barbie, when the world is full of sad kids.

Every day in BarbieLand is exactly the same. You can even see in the background at the beginning of the movie, there are other Barbies in their houses going through their morning routines perfectly synchronized with Margot Barbie. Being stuck in an infinite loop, doing the same things, day after day after day, same as all her neighbors, with a boyfriend she didn't even like but felt like she had to be with... I think that pushed her to subconsciously want more, something higher, something real. I think she somehow projected herself onto Gloria's doll in an attempt to find some sense of purpose. I think this was step one of ripping the membrane between worlds. Step 2, of course, being Gloria projecting her feelings onto that same doll.

But why did this happen to her specifically and not any of the other Barbies?

Margot Barbie is the original Barbie, the idea of Barbie, personally created by Ruth Handler herself. I think this gave her a drop of humanity that most of the other Barbies and Kens don't have. I think living the same day for 60 years pushed that piece of humanity in her to want more. She probably didn't understand the feeling or even realize it was happening.

Note that this has apparently happened before with Allan and Skipper, also both personally created by Ruth Handler.

I also think she didn't have a specific real world doll counterpart for a very long time. She was literally just the idea of Barbie, the concept, until she projected onto Gloria's Barbie. Why that specific doll, why Gloria? Idk, soulmates 🫶

Anyway, this is why she was so affected by witnessing humanity and so drawn to the idea of becoming human; she was seeing part of herself reflected in it. This is why she didn't have to ask to become human, she just discovered she was.
