I love how into the story Brooke gets in The Story of the Phantom, like she seems genuinely annoyed at Zeke when he's getting stuff wrong to wind her up. I bet that's one of the reasons Brian latched onto her (assuming he could see that as a spooky ghost) - he's like look! She loves my play as much as I do! New friend!

i think this part is really interesting bc like surely in brian's head, the phantom is the main character. but brooke's version of the story basically makes Esmeralda the main character. Which is an adorkable relatable teenage thing to do but also is a genuinely compelling creative choice like? Shes not wrong. This is ultimately Esmeralda's tragedy, The Phantom (character) exist to further her story.

Personality: He is socially awkward and adorkable but confident in himself and what he is, he is aware he is viewed as some kind of a freak and he doesn't mind it, because he is who he is. He is weird and proud and also very protective of Nathan and he protects him with a psychic bond that keeps the two of them very close together no matter where they are. He is protective of Nathan and he goes out of his way to make sure he never strays too far from the Aykroydian side and if Nathan ever does stray too far from there, he always manages to come back as he is Nathan's designated 'were-alter-ego' and 'spirit animal', always there for Nathan and always there to keep him safe.
Influences:
Bob (Twin Peaks). He pretty much is to Nathan what Bob is to Leland Palmer and also Dale Cooper, only he's not a killer…he's actually looking out for him and trying to help him understand what is going on and is protecting him, a lot of the dream world aspects are Twin Peaks-esque in general especially the places Nathan winds up being in and other elements like the lodge and characters talking in a reverse-then-forward manner of speaking. He also appears in mirrors just like Bob does when Bob is possessing someone.
Freddy Krueger (A Nightmare On Elm Street). He is very much a benign Freddy in terms of his presence in the dream world and in the waking world. Instead of killing though, he uses his powers to guide Nathan towards the way of the 'Aykroyd' and to help him come to terms with his visions of being Dan Aykroyd, he also has a similar ordeal with Nathan as Freddy did with Jesse Walsh in Nightmare On Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge.
Dan Aykroyd. Well it's in his name, he is a Were-Aykroyd, and not just any one but the main Were-Aykroyd character in the Monster World…however, there are multiple other Were-Aykroyds out there including Mel's Were-Aykroyd alter-ego and also Matthew J. Radke (the counterpart of Werebelushi In The Shades), he appears as Aykroyd himself and can become mutliple characters of his.
Paul Atreides (Dune). Dan's connection with Paul is that he's considered a powerful and important figure and is referred to as the 'Kwisatz Haderach' of his group and also he serves to teach Nathan in the 'Aykroyding' way which is very much like the 'Weirding' way.
Gabriel (The Prophecy). He is very much a 'guardian angel' type to Nathan who takes after Gabriel at times, but is a bit more…Aykroydian and is basically very protective of Nathan and has him under his proverbial wing at all times to make sure he doesn't stray from him…no matter who Nathan ends up turning into, Dan is always there waiting for him, he is Nathan's designated spirit-guide/spirit-animal and were-persona and nothing shall separate them.
Terror Mask (Splatterhouse) He serves a sort of similar purpose to the Terror Mask only he turns Nathan into him and makes him Aykroydian as opposed to the what the Terror Mask does, basically Nathan becomes him through him and sometimes via possession as it's explained that is how he gets Were-Aykroyd powers, but also the way Dan speaks to Nathan telepathically is like how the mask speaks to Rick.
Vic (Neighbors). He takes after Vic in the sense he is odd and mysterious, nobody knows exactly what he does since he has many fascets to his personality and takes on many roles/jobs and often is viewed as a mysterious figure.
Dr Keats (50 First Dates). Regarding his many jobs he takes on the role of a therapist who helps others similar to this character and even appearing as him, this is how he bonded with another were-celebrity…specifically one who is a friend of 'Nathan's' who turns into the late Robin Williams and that's how the two of them met and even became a sort of couple/duo.
