Daniel Watches She-Ra
& The Princesses Of Power
-S1E3- 'Razz'
Todays' She-Ra Watchthrough Art: Look I have been having a real shit week or so let me just bullshit this one thanks
Tumblr media
Dumb question but why is Glimmers mom British? Also this is probably just me but it looks like her wings are attached to her hair & I can't stop thinking about it.
Tumblr media
Oh also yo the theme song?
Yeah that's pretty swell.
A big step up from the original cartoon which was just.....sad? It's just like a sad attempt of being a cool retro cartoon theme song. It fails to live up to any of the greats of decades past.
TMNT 87? Iconic. Badass. Groovy. Radical.
Transformers? Iconic as well. Absolutely fucks.
The Super Mario Bros. Super Show? Fucking ART that makes Hans Zimmer look like an absolute fucking dork.
Sonic Underground? LITERALLY THE GREATEST FUCKING PIECE OF MUSIC EVER COMPOSED BY MANKIND.
80s She-Ra? It's like watching a cat spray diarrhea across my carpet for a solid minute. It's just sad.
Okay so I literally don't know any of their names but uh-
These two. These two evil goons right here.
Are-
Tumblr media
Okay so are they like gay? I don't know why but my brain saw this & went "Is this dude dating that lizard? are they going to smooch?"
I have no evidence or any proof to back up my claim here.
But I'm gonna just assume these two are gay & smooching & holding hands & stuff.
Anyways these goon squad characters are lame, also fuck that one girl who was bullying Cat-Ra, like, damn. The fuck is her problem?
Like leave that cat alone she's a fucking cat. Who bullies a cat??
Fuck you!!
Yeah so the only two goons I find myself enjoying are these two because I just get a strong feeling that they might be gay.
Again, I have no proof or evidence. But I'm gonna just say that they are anyway because I decided that I want to & you can't stop me.
Tumblr media
Also one of them is a lizard dude. Like I said, that objectively makes him cool as fuck because reptiles are rad as hell.
ALSO GLIMMER & ADORA ARE SO GAY??
Tumblr media
LIKE- OKAY FIRST OFF THIS POSE ABOVE THIS SENTENCE? THAT AIN'T A POSE OF A STRAIGHT PERSON. SHE'S AT THE VERY LEAST BI OR LESBIAN OR SOMETHING. BUT NAH THAT POSE IS GIVING ME VERY HEAVY FAG VIBES /POS
GOD THEY'RE GAY THEY'RE GAY THEY ARE GIRLFRIENDS IDC
Tumblr media
I fucking squealed at this they're SO IN LOVE AAAAAA
GOD THEY ARE SO GAY
SHE'S BEING SO GAY JUST TALKING ABOUT ADORA/SHE-RA
GAY?? GAY
REAL
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
IF THEY DONT KISS & HOLD HANDS BY THE END IM GOING TO PISS ON MY NEIGHBOURS MAILBOX
POV: Glimmer introduces you to her wife (she's magic & can become very tall & glows bc she's just cool like that)
Tumblr media
Also I like, find She-Ra so fucking funny from the design itself?
She's just.....tall. She's a tall lass. Big. Large. Massive. A Tree.
Like, the fact that she's just....big. Like this is a needed change for her transformation. Being taller is an essential part of it.
One of her magical powers is just being really tall I guess. Like that's part of the transformation, she gets BIG. So that's just considered a power, because it makes her taller.
Being a tall fuck is considered a magical ability in this universe.
Also why did this episode just turn into Pixars' Brave (2012) for the middle part? I'm not upset I'm just confused bc I didn't expect to be hit with this sudden flashback to 2012 shit. But I like this old lady.
But (good job daniel you used but twice in a row, you're so good at writing you stupid fucking idiot-) I just kept being reminded of Brave while watching. I don't know if that's a good thing or not. I haven't watched Brave in like a decade. Like, damn though, this part just reminded me of it a lot & I feel it's worth mentioning.
Tumblr media
I should rewatch Brave sometime.
AHEM-
SHE'S SO FUCKING CUTE I WANT TO CRY SHE'S LITERALLY THE SCRUNKLY SCRIMBLO BLORBO AND ALSO A FAGGOT. I LOVE HER. PROTECT THIS SPARKLY FAGGOT & HER MAGICAL WIFE.
GRAHHHHHHH
Tumblr media
Whore-Dak Update:
Okay Hordak, you get points just because you told Shadow Weaver to go fuck herself. That's incredibly based & awesome of you. To not only tell the wizard bitch to shove her stupid fucking shadow magic fart clouds up her ass. But you also were like "Hey angry lesbian cat, you get a promotion because you're epic" & that's so real.
I respect a villain who doesn't bully cats for no reason.
(other than because you're a huge bitch cough shadow cunt cough)
Tumblr media
You're still nowhere near being Skeletor. But you are definitely a far better villain than the original 80s Hordak was. Keep it up buddy.

Thinking about the significance of falling when it come to Catradora. Obviously the imagery of cliffs, holding on to each other, and letting go are all significant in the narrative when it comes to their relationship. Two instances in particular stand out to me though as notable parallels. Catra falling into the portal and re-emerging as a twisted version of herself is very much in conversation with Adora falling into the chasm in the First One’s Temple and re-emerging as someone closer to the She-Ra that Light Hope (or her original programming) wants her to be. In both cases they’re reacting to having just experienced a mindbending mimicry of their lives together in the Horde before they split up. This is so eerie partially because reality is being expertly bent in both cases since there is a lot of truth woven into what Adora and Catra are seeing.
Adora is forced to literally let go (of her hold on the Cliff, her memories of Catra, her current feelings about Catra)/fall into the chasm. Light Hope has been trying to get her to let go the whole time because Adora’s attachment to other people threatens the First One’s plans to turn her into a weapon. Isolation. Other people are keeping her human. That of course extends to the Best Friends Squad, though it’s true that everyone expects too much of her, even the people she’s closest with. I think that’s one of the things that makes her relationship with Catra bloom in season 5. Catra wants Adora, specifically, not She-Ra. She is protective of Adora the person in a way that other people aren’t necessarily because she has an understanding of her that Bow and Glimmer aren’t going to have since they didn’t grow up with her in the Horde. Once Catra moves on from feeling in competition with Adora, then she can fully embrace her feelings. But anyway, tangent.
Adora being forced to let go/fall from the cliff is just the continuation of the idea that Adora feels like she has to choose the greater good over her own wants such as when she chooses the Rebellion over Catra. In her mind, she feels like there isn’t a choice. She has to leave Catra, even though she doesn’t want to do so. Light Hope is trying to take advantage of that trait for her own purposes, pushing Adora to follow orders and do what is best in the minds of the First Ones.
Now, Catra. Catra lets go of the cliff herself as reality is being pulled apart. This whole scene says so much about where her character is at this point in the plot. First of all, she tries to drag Adora down with her. She can’t stand the idea of Adora being better than her and on the moral high ground because part of that competitive dynamics is very much rooted in Shadow Weaver’s treatment of them both as children. Adora was prioritized. Catra was directly compared to Adora negatively and threatened with harm if she interfered with Adora’s “progress” in any way. Catra and Adora are both self-destructive at two ends of the same spectrum and the pressure/trauma caused by The Horde & First Ones are pushing them to extremes. Isolating extremes. Catra constantly feels a lack of safety and struggles with self-hatred. Catra lets go as she stares Adora in the eyes because she doesn’t feel worth much. I think that’s symbolic of her constantly pushing other people away on purpose as a way to both punish and protect herself.
When Catra re-emerges as Corrupted Catra we can see that her loathing for what Adora represents in her life has been taken to an extreme. I’m a believer that Corrupted Catra is just that. She’s still partially herself, but all of her instincts are taken to an extreme and it’s a raw expression of her hurt. Her pain is being visually symbolized by pieces of her simply being gone. This is another representation of the affect trauma is having on her and her life. That entire scene is brutal and it is good that Adora finally stands up for herself since obviously Catra is not justified in lashing out, but as she stands over Catra’s passed-out body, I think it’s a reminder that circumstances have been out of their control for a long while now. Trauma can isolate and push people away from each other (even when they need each other for healing), as well as away from being able to fully express themselves.
Then season 5 rolls around. Healing. Other people. Wanting. Self-expression. Wonderful things. Catra and Adora being together - what they bring out in each other - challenges both Shadow Weaver and the Horde’s purposes for them. Together, they defy control. You see, if they are able to truly love and connect with each other, then Adora might not conform to what the First One’s want of her and once Catra is able to move beyond the barriers in her relationship with Adora placed there by Shadow Weaver, she can’t be controlled by the Horde anymore either. They are defiance and self-expression and love and I’m totally obsessed with this show, aren’t I?

I've seen a lot of analysis about Glimmer and Catra's parallels, but not enough about Adora and Bow. Their character arcs mirrored each other so well.
They both spent so much of their lives living the life/role that was expected of them that they never really learned to think of their own feelings. They both started the series as people driven by their need to protect others so much that they neglect to consider themselves. Adora throws herself into dangerous situations without any concern about her own safety because she feels it's her duty as She-ra to always take the burden of most things on her own, but with Bow it's a little subtler; he ignores his own feelings to keep the peace, and prefers to ignore interpersonal conflict because he feels it's his duty to keep others happy. Adora consistently tries to take down ridiculous amounts of enemies all on her own, and Bow goes so far as to hide the truth from his family and ignore the conflict brewing within the best friends squad in season 4 because he doesn't know how to fix it, so he is uncomfortable with the growing tension between Adora and Glimmer.
They were both having a renaissance in season 5, Adora with learning that it's okay to be "selfish" and taking what she wants for herself and Bow with learning it's okay not to immediately forgive someone when they've hurt you because his own feelings are important too.
Their journeys of learning to understand and honor their own feelings were wholly necessary for them to find their way to their respective happy endings.
We see in the earlier seasons both of them blaming themselves for things (for example both of them trying to take responsibility for losing Entrapta). Adora is much worse about this than Bow, but his tendency to shoulder the blame in situations is detrimental to his growth.
Adora has a huge turning point at the end of season 3, where she stops blaming herself for the way things end up during her "I didn't break the world" speech, and after this point she sticks to it. We don't see her volunteering an "it's my fault" to things, at least not nearly as often. Bow takes a little longer, with making excuses for Glimmer's actions in season 4 and feeling guilt over doing what is necessary to protect Etheria from the Heart when it means going against her orders and wishes. But on Beast Island he begins to let himself hold Glimmer accountable, and he lets himself stay angry instead of letting it go before he's ready to to keep the peace.
It takes a real show of willingness to change (Catra's "stay" and Glimmer's "you get to be mad for as long as you need to") for either of them to be willing to let things go, showing both Bow and Adora's growth into people who can hold others accountable rather than try to place the burden of fixing things onto their own shoulders.
Catradora and Glimbow also has a ton of parallels, but that's a post for another day!
I love Adora and Bow, I love their friendship and their interactions and the parallels in their arcs. I want to make a more detailed essay comparing their arcs and the growth they experience and the way it mirrors each other because I really feel like it's something I'd like to see explored more.

the best friend squad in episode 8 of season 5 is my literal favorite.   that’s my ultimate comfort episode of  ANY  show.    but like also  ...   catra pointed out that melog responds to emotions and adora steps aside to let catra prove that and it’s proven,  so like melog trusting adora isn’t a  ‘because she’s also magical’  thing,  it’s because melog’s feeding off catra’s emotions.   hence why melog is also super protective of adora too.   and just everything about that episode,  in between bow and catra playfully fighting with each other,  catra legitimately falling in love with adora’s laugh,  adora just casually holding catra’s hand without batting an eyelash while catra is hilariously mortified.   just....  please,  it’s all so good.   but please,  how did adora just  MISS  melog feeding off catra’s emotions..  aka catra being in love.   adds to the glamour.

@i-just-think-that-clones So to answer your questions on my last post, basically yes and yes. So in this au everything in the she-ra universe happened and this would be set way after Adora. Etheria and the surrounding planets are located Deep in the unknown region. Rex finds the sword in the ground in some crazy forest while on an outer rim planet that’s near the veil of the unknown region. He’s on a recon mission when him and the squad he’s with gets ambushed and he’s separated from the group. He stumbles upon the sword and gets this overwhelming compulsion to touch it like Adora did. Of course he does and is immediately bombarded with visions and falls unconscious and wakes up with the sword in his hand.
My take on the sword in this au is it’s blade is retractable so Rex can easily conceal it and tote it with him. He’s trying to make sense of it all when he’s attacked by droids again and soon after transforms into she-ra. After he’s demolished every droid in a mile radius he turns back to himself and now he’s really freaked out and panics a little bit but ultimately decides to stick to the mission and find his squad. After a long ass time of wandering around in what feels like an endless forest he starts to feel like he’s walking in circles even though he’s been tracking his position using the sun and locating equipment and what not. He stumbles upon a strange looking crashed ship and he goes in to see if he can use the radio or anything to boost his locators signal, but instead he finds this matrix crystal holocron type computer drive with an old old version of the Light Hope AI on it. Light Hope explains a little bit about what the she-ra is, and figuring the AI seems to have all the answers to his problem he takes the matrix with him. He eventually finds his squad and their on their way. In a few days the battle on that planet is over and they ship out back to Coriscant.
While he’s there he goes to the Jedi temple archives to do some research on this Etheria place but there isn’t squat on anything like it. Which brings him back to Light Hope who seems have all the answers he needs but like in she-ra she’s hiding things from him. Because this is a very old version of light hope it is still her prime directive to train the she-ra and activate the heart of Etheria which is important for later. Really all Light Hope does is insist he train as she-ra and protect Etheria like a broken record and Rex’s doesn’t really like the sound of that so he just kinda puts light hope on a shelf in his office. So for many months Rex goes about his life in denial and only uses the sword in secret. There were a few times during battle where Rex found himself in a no win situation where he needed she-ra or him and his brothers would die. Of course this is how the 501st found out and Rex swore them all to secrecy.
Figuring how he’s kinda secretly being she-ra now he might as well learn how to at least swing the sword right because the last few times he was she-ra he was a little awkward at it to say the least. He started sitting in on Ashoka’s training lessons when he could and got Anakin to teach him a bit on how to use a lightsaber thinking he could apply the same lessons to use the sword because he has no idea how to swing a sword around the right way but he quickly learns that lightsabers and broadswords are very different. Unfortunately for him he does in fact know someone who trains she-ra’s specifically. So in secret he trains as she-ra with the guidance of Light Hope in one of the training rooms while he has one of the 501st boys guarding the door for him.
After a few months more which would be set after Umbara Rex comes out of his denial stage and he just can’t take not knowing anymore. Why does she-ra exist? What is the sword really? Where is this Etheria? Why does he need to protect it? What is Greyskull? Who was Adora? Why did her ship crash and what was she running from? Why was the sword just abandoned in the forest like that? Who were first ones? What does any of this mean? Obviously Rex don’t know anything about anything, so it was easy for Light Hope to get him to walk through a portal she made with the promise of understanding everything he wanted to know without actually telling him where their going. Essentially light Hope kidnaps Rex to Etheria. She takes him to this old outpost on one of Etherias larger moons that functions as an archive.
It’s important that you know that this au it’s set like 3,000 years after Adora and Etheria is a very different place. So the first ones who were Eternians that were colonizing the planet for resources came back to Etheria once it came of of dispondos and hoard prime was defeated. Eternia hadn’t forgotten Etheria or what it was. They still wanted their planet killing weapon. It took many many years over many generations but Eternia took back Etheria. Like Hordak did with Scorpia Eternia took the descendants of rune stone wielders and raised them to be loyal to Eternia, which guaranteed their cooperation. The only missing piece was she-ra. Which leads us back to why and how Adora came to be half way across the galaxy and got passed a massive veil of black holes and crash landed on some nowhere planet. When the situation with Eternia wasn’t looking good and they had full control of the planet Adora and company tried to destroy the sword but failed. Her friends wanted to find another way but Adora didn’t think there was any way that wasn’t playing right into their hands so she fleas with the sword. Her plan was to basically rogue one herself like Mara did and dive into one of the black holes and get destroyed and be lost forever but something went wrong. See, Adora needed an navigation system to get her all the way across the galaxy, so she used the ancient Light Hope system she found and retro fitted to fly the ship. she got spit out the other side and crashed. Long story short that’s the deal with Adora.
Which brings us back to Rex. So Rex is digging through the archives and find out the ugly truths to why, how and what she-ra is and what happened to the last owner of the sword. So Rex was like uhh, hey can we leave now and she’s like oh no, I used the vast majority of my energy storage just to get us here, it’s going to take months, possibly even a year to get us back. Of course Rex did not appreciate that at all. And Light Hopes not bad really, it’s just she’s a very old program whose deteriorated then been rewired then deteriorated some more. She’s forgetful and has a lot of bugs and glitches which make her seem strange. She repeats a lot of stuff like a broken record because it’s what’s left of her base coding, she seems like she’s hiding things because there are gaps in her memories and it causes her to freeze up. She struggles between new and old coding which often puts her at odds with herself and it’s like she’s two different AI’s sometimes. Mixed with random coding deterioration glitches she can be… unpredictable. Ultimately she’s loyal to the she-ra, she’s just old and forgetful and it can be very unhelpful sometimes. Like now, because she’s stranded both of them on this ancient outpost half way across the galaxy in a sector that can for an unknown amount of time. Just great right? That’s about as far as I’ve gotten brainstorming wise.

perspective flip: better (if i’m allowed to be more specific, someone else’s perspective from chapter two) ((sorry if you got this ask more than once, tumblr was being a butt))
Perspective Flip: I’ll write a scene from [Better, Chapter Two] from another character’s point-of-view
man tell me about it, it ate my whole first draft of this lmao
the more specific the better! here’s Bow’s Big Epiphany, capped off when Adora interrupts bc transitions suck
Unusual Fic-Specific Asks for Authors
“So it’s not Scorpia?” Frosta asked Adora, relaxing slightly as Catra left the room. Bow couldn’t say he blamed her, but the things he’d seen on Beast Island–the way Catra had broken down--well, Glimmer always said he was too forgiving. Maybe it would have been harder, if he hadn’t seen how nice future-Catra was (and how cute her babies were).
“Not Scorpia,” said Adora, lips pursed like she was fighting a scowl. “I can’t figure it out. She never had a crush on anybody when we were growing up, but her future self said she’d already been in love, so--either it’s happened since I became She-Ra, or she lied to me for like… years, probably.”
“She never told you she liked anyone?” asked Perfuma. She exchanged a glance with Bow, an unsurprised little ‘I imagine Catra’s been lying to everyone for years’ look that Bow probably meant a little more sympathetically than she did.
“She never even tolerated anyone. The other cadets were either total jerks or scared of her, except the rest of our squad.” Adora paused, blinking hard like she was trying to force a thought from her mind. “It can’t--not Lonnie. She hates Lonnie. She kind of hates most people.”
“I mean, what about you? She tolerated you,” Mermista pointed out, raising a skeptical eyebrow.
“Yeah, of course, but I was her best friend. We did everything together,” said Adora, frowning. She wasn’t quite defensive--the denial seemed almost instinctual to Bow, like she couldn’t imagine a world where she and Catra had been separate entities, despite their recent demonstrations to the contrary. “I’m telling you, there’s no way I wouldn’t have picked up on it, even if she didn’t tell me. It’s gotta be recent.”
“Adora, no offense,” said Glimmer, at least trying to contain her exasperation, “but it did take you almost twenty years to realize the Horde was evil.”
“That’s different,” said Adora, rolling her eyes. “This is Catra. Your mom says I didn’t realize the Horde was evil because--because it would hurt too much? I guess? There wouldn’t have been anything I could do about it, not until I found the sword. I needed to be able to… do something. Before I could do something. Does that make sense?”
What a way to phrase it. Bow looked down at the tracker pad again, trying to ease the ache in his heart by looking at future-Adora, how happy and free she seemed. It hurt to hear how she thought of herself, how little she understood of her own thought processes during the ceaseless trauma of growing up in the Fright Zone. Adora’s heart beat with the need to protect, but she couldn’t even consider that her mind had been trying to extend that to her, however unconsciously.
He hadn’t been there when Angella tried to explain this to Adora, but he was willing to bet she hadn’t placed so much emphasis on the sword. From the moment she’d joined the Rebellion, Adora had clung to that blade like it was her entire identity. They had to coax and cajole the rest of her personality out from behind the ‘dutiful soldier’ persona she couldn’t bear to relinquish.
He wished he knew how to help her.
“No,” said Frosta, blunt as always.
“The sword represented an unprecedented agency,” said Perfuma, exchanging another sad look with Bow. “By accepting its power, you were able to accept your true feelings about the Horde.”
“Sure,” said Adora, agreeing immediately despite the blankness in her eyes. She didn’t understand Perfuma’s point any better than she had Angella’s.
But maybe Perfuma had a point--maybe to Adora, the sword wasn’t just another duty to take on. Maybe it was also her ability to choose for herself? Maybe that’s what she was clinging to?
He looked back down at the picture. She didn’t have the sword on her.
“That’s great and all, but how do we make her accept her true feelings about who Catra’s in love with?” asked Mermista, crossing her arms.
“Uh,” said Adora.
“We are allowed to talk about your feelings,” said Bow, smiling at her. She’d been so open since speaking with her future-self. Maybe they could finally find a way to help her. “We just can’t bug Catra about hers!”
“I don’t--my feelings?”
“Yeah!” said Glimmer, lighting up at the prospect. “Maybe it is like you not realizing the Horde’s evil! You could have some like, mental block keeping you from unlocking the truth!”
“How are my feelings going to help that?” Adora asked weakly.
“Well, let’s consider it from a new angle,” said Bow, rubbing his chin in one hand. “The only people we know she’s spent time with since you left are Scorpia and Entrapta, and I think we can pretty much rule out Entrapta. Are there any other female Force Captains?”
“I mean, yeah. There’s Octavia--”
“Oh! The octopus lady! Could it be her?” said Bow, brightening. Although wait, she was pretty old, compared to them…
“Catra clawed her eye out when we were six.”
“Ah,” said Bow, wincing. When they were six? His stomach turned, remembering his own clumsy adventuring at that age. To have been raised in the Horde–to have known all along that it was an evil, dangerous place, with no prospect of escape… Catra must have felt so trapped there. What had Octavia, at least a decade their senior, done to warrant a wound so devastating? How had Catra even been able to reach?
He preferred to think it was just her lashing out, that Octavia had been an authority figure Catra had been confident enough to risk pissing off. Maybe it had just been a shallow scratch which had gotten infected, instead of the gouging he pictured automatically.
Had she been scared? Scared enough to attack? Scared of the consequences once she had?
“I appreciate your creativity Bow, but from what we know of Catra I think it’s more likely that she already had feelings for someone,” Perfuma cut in. “She’s very… goal-oriented. I doubt her attention was wandering in romantic directions once she was promoted.”
And boy, wasn’t that true. Dissuading Catra from something was about as easy as dissuading Adora.
“So she lied to me,” said Adora.
“Well… maybe,” said Perfuma. “Did you outright ask if she had a crush on anyone?”
“Yeah! A bunch of times! She always said that stuff was stupid and she had more important things to worry about, said Adora, outright pouting.
“That’s not a no…” said Glimmer, looking almost apologetic. It made Bow smile; that’s exactly the kind of defense she’d use if he called her out for lying. ‘Oh, I didn’t mean it that way,’ or ‘I didn’t say that’. Maybe she and Catra had more in common than he’d realized.
“Did she ever ask you?” asked Mermista.
“Well yeah, it’s kind of--it’s a reciprocal thing, you don’t just ask and not answer yourself. Like half the time she asked first, it’s just a basic--friend--question--thing,” Adora stammered, flushing with clear embarrassment.
“And did you ever tell her when you had a crush?” asked Mermista.
“I’m--I mean, I would have? But I never had one, so--”
“You never had a crush?” Mermista interrupted, plainly disbelieving.
“I kind of had a lot going on, okay?” huffed Adora. “There’s no time for stuff like that in the Horde.”
“So where do all the little Hordelings come from?” asked Mermista.
Adora’s face darkened, grew heavy with emotions she rarely let even Bow and Glimmer see. He leaned into her, trying to reassure her with his physical presence. Pressure seemed to relax her, to ground her, most of the time. She probably wouldn’t accept a hug right now, but she leaned back into him automatically, so maybe it helped.
“Most are stolen,” she said at length, “Some are surrendered willingly. Some of us were taken in after being kidnapped across dimensions by an artificial intelligence bent on universal domination. You know, classic Hordeling sources.”
Bow winced. Mermista’s eyes widened, and she looked at the other princesses for help, but they all seemed just as lost for words as she was.
“Uh… look, Adora, I’m… sorry?” said Mermista, cautious but sincere. She uncrossed her arms, one hand moving to her braid, fiddling with the end of it. Bow had never seen her look so unsure of herself.
“It’s fine,” said Adora. She let out a long, slow breath, and he felt her release some of the tension in her shoulders. “It’s--it’s been a long few days.”
“Do you wanna like… talk about it?” Mermista tried, a little awkward. Bow smiled at her gratefully.
“I guess I just like--like I always knew the Horde took me in as a baby, you know? I kind of wondered if that had been a lie after I realized they were evil, but… I don’t know. It felt… Like, everything made sense, it was never--it was all for something, you know?”
“You felt that way even after you defected?” asked Perfuma, gentle and coaxing, but Bow could see the concern in her eyes. She was starting to see what he saw.
“I mean, yeah, kind of,” said Adora, with a helpless shrug. “I knew they were training me to do horrible things, but I didn’t think the way they did it was horrible. Not for me. I mean, apparently they really did take me in as a baby.”
“But?” prompted Glimmer, coming up on her other side and wrapping an arm around her waist.
“But I dunno,” said Adora. “Maybe it’s just seeing Catra’s kids, maybe it’s realizing I was just kind of dumped in their laps, but I… I knew it was bad for the other kids. That it wasn’t fair to treat them like that, but--seeing the twins--hearing the way Shadow Weaver--”
Her shoulders were tense again. Bow thought back to what Glimmer had told him of future-Catra’s initial announcements, back to just what kind of warden they’d had, and almost tensed himself. Hearing the way Shadow Weaver what? He tightened his grip on the tracker pad instinctively, as his hands tried to close into fists.
“I was never anything to them,” said Adora, cold and biting and sounding more like a soldier than he’d heard since they met her. “I looked at those babies and all I could think about was how much I loved them, the potential they had, how much I wanted to keep them safe, and happy, but the Horde--Shadow Weaver--I wasn’t even a weapon. I wasn’t even that.”
“I mean--” Mermista started, still uncertain, but Adora cut her off with a shake of her head.
“I wasn’t, because even if--even if you program in a kill switch, you don’t--you don’t…” she trailed off, scowling. Her mouth twisted, and her eyes were shiny with unshed tears, and Bow was going to start crying any second now. “I hate her.”
“You don’t have to,” said Bow, trying to swallow his own tears. “You can, but--”
“Yes I do,” Adora hissed. “How can I not hate her? The things she did--the things she told us--made us think--”
“It’s normal to care about the person who raised you,” said Glimmer, conciliatory but not quite compassionate. Adora would appreciate the effort, anyway.
“Not when that person is literally evil,” Adora muttered.
“She taught you how to tie your boots,” Bow reminded her softly, trying to bring her back before she could just bury all those emotions without addressing them. Again.
Adora shut her eyes, and her mouth was still twisted, but she was breathing deeply, like she was thinking things through.
“I hate her,” she said, this time a thin and uncertain mumble. “I’m gonna go check on Catra.”
She pushed back from Bow’s shoulder, shrugging off Glimmer’s arm in the same motion, already turning back towards the door.
“Adora, we should give her space,” said Perfuma, frowning a little. Adora froze like Perfuma would threaten her life if she took another step. “This must be a lot for her to process. If she wants to turn to her friend for support, then--”
“I’m her friend,” Adora interrupted.
Bow sighed, half exasperated and half fond. Adora had always been territorial, prone to possessiveness of her things. Food, especially, was a problem in the beginning; they kept accidentally sitting on her caches of less-perishable items, until she was able to accept that there were no circumstances or punishments that could threaten her next meal.
That, or she got better at hiding her bread.
Admittedly, he hadn’t seen that possessiveness directed towards a person yet, but it didn’t surprise him to learn it was there. Adora entered the Best Friend Squad when it was already the three of them, so she had no reason to be jealous of Bow or Glimmer, but if she and Catra were as isolated growing up as he was beginning to suspect…
Well, Princess Prom was starting to make a lot more sense in retrospect. She had been having the exact same crisis Glimmer was, but from opposite sides of the war.
Perfuma seemed a little less amused to discover this particular quirk, but she managed a patient smile when she said, “You two haven’t had much time apart to process since your reunion, right? It’s important that you respect any boundaries she might set, including stepping out of the room for a moment.”
Adora’s shoulders slumped, her rigid posture relaxing instantly at the reminder. She turned fully back to them, avoiding their eyes.
“I don’t want to talk about the Horde right now,” she told them, quiet but firm.
“Then we won’t,” said Bow. He made eye contact with each princess in turn to confirm it, frowning pointedly at Frosta until she relented with a scowl. “Boundaries.”
“Seems to be the theme today,” said Mermista, sighing melodramatically. “Can we at least figure out who fucks the cat?”
“Mermista!” said Perfuma, clapping her hands over Frosta’s ears. She looked appalled, like she couldn’t believe a princess would use such language, despite what Bow had heard her say about cacti behind closed doors.
“What?” asked Mermista, unimpressed. “She’s like, twelve. She knows what sex is, Perfuma.”
“I can also still hear you,” said Frosta.
“It’s not about the--it’s about the language,” Perfuma stressed, blushing. “It’s disrespectful!”
“I think it’s a little more disrespectful to imply Frosta doesn’t know the word ‘fuck’ yet,” said Mermista.
“I am objecting to the gossip,” said Perfuma, at least removing her hands from Frosta’s ears.  “We don’t need to speculate about any--any--private activities. It’s unproductive and it diminishes Catra’s--”
“Okay, whatever, fine,” said Mermista. “What respectful clues do we have?”
“Well, Catra’s in love,” said Glimmer, looking back at the door consideringly. “Or has been? Her future self wasn’t very clear on that, actually. But we can safely assume she will be in a decade or so, anyway.”
“And it’s not with Scorpia,” Adora added.
“You’re like super fixated on it not being Scorpia,” said Mermista, raising an eyebrow. “Are you sure you haven’t had a crush? She is kind of your type.”
“My--my type?” Adora spluttered.
“Yeah, you know, big, strong, muscular,” said Perfuma, smiling. “Totally understandable, she’s dreamy.”
“No,” said Adora, looking mildly horrified at the very suggestion. “I mean--yeah, sure, she has nice muscles, but she’s… No. She’s too nice. We’d never get anything done.”
Mermista shrugged it off, but Glimmer started laughing. Bow blinked, looking at her to see what brought that on.
“I thought you guys meant Catra,” Glimmer explained between giggles.
Bow blinked again.
He looked down at the tracker pad.
Future-Adora gazing at the kittens, at Catra, with a melty, absolutely smitten smile.
The kittens, with their enormous blue eyes that decidedly didn’t match Catra’s shade.
No. No, it couldn’t be, right? There was no way Adora would have been able to hide the fact that she was in love with…
Oh, no. She couldn’t hide it, but her stupid over-protective subconsciousness could--
“Bow?” came Glimmer’s voice, echoing faintly. His ears might be ringing.
“Bow, are you okay?” asked Adora, meeting his eyes and yeah that was the exact same shade of blue alright--
“Yep! Grood! I’m gate! I--just remembered I have to ask Catra something! Right now!” he squeaked, handing Glimmer the tracker pad and running for the door before he could give anything away.
Oh, Catra was going to kill him if he gave something away.
He stopped at the door, giving them all his most reassuring smile. “Everything is fine!” he said, smooth and confident and totally normal--
He closed the door behind him, locking eyes with a visibly chastised Scorpia, Catra pacing up and down the hallway and breaking off mid-lecture to glare at him for interrupting.
“It’s Adora?” he shouted, before a single rational thought could stop him.
Scorpia straightened up like she’d been electrocuted, and Catra’s eyes shot wide before narrowing to slits.
Oh.
Right.
The killing him part.
He squeaked a little as she tackled him, slamming him against the door by his shoulders, but thankfully the claws didn’t come out. At least not the ones holding onto him.
“What are you talking about?” she demanded, not quite able to mask her panic with anger.
“I--once I realized I couldn’t just like, unrealize, and--does she not know? Does she even know she’s in love with y--”
“Shut up!” Catra hissed, shaking him a little. “Don’t say shit like that, fuck--”
“I don’t think so,” Scorpia volunteered, hovering a little like she was willing to intercede on his behalf. That was kind of nice of her, actually. He’d have to try a little harder to defend her from Adora’s jealous--ohhhhh.
“We’re not doing this. I’m not having this conversation with you!” said Catra. They were both panicking now, feeding off of each other’s alarm, and none of Bow’s breathing techniques would come to mind when all he could think was what and how long and what does this mean and that claw looks really sharp--
“Adam is blond!” he blurted the second he opened his mouth.
“So help me, Arrow Boy, if you say one more word--I will break into your closet in the dead of night and sew midsections onto all your shirts if you so much as hint--”

Chip's Fic Master Post

World Eater Returns!
A Post Season 4 She Ra AU Fanfic
Part IV begins posting on or before July 7, 2022 (evening, PST)
Fic Summary: With Horde Prime defeated, the Best Friend Squad journeyed into space to bring magic back to the galaxy. At least, that was the best outcome among many that fate could have taken them to.
In this reality, when Adora smashes the Sword of Protection, Etheria is instead pulled into a universe with problems far larger than a sadistic Galactic Emperor—a universe where the Hero, the Fallen Friend, and the Once-Queen have no choice but to confront a crisis threatening the very foundations of reality itself.
Etheria is no longer alone in Despondos, and the galaxy is a far more dangerous place than they could have ever imagined.
Read on AO3 from Chapter 1

“I love how much you're willing to just forge your own path. Absolutely wild and it's great not knowing what to expect, even with all the fanon in the community [...] It's really refreshing to see someone willing to just write whatever they want.”
- Reader, Sathroe; Chapter 2
This was honestly beautiful. What a work of fiction to craft backstories for backdrops and have them fit seamlessly into the characters heads! Glimmer's [spoilers redacted] was wonderful and it felt *so real*. It's the small things like that, the small things that shift to bigger things, that makes this fic wonderful [...] I could wax lyrical about that forever, but I've also got to mention how phenomenal it is that you are crafting these three separate POVs, all rich with their own small moments, and having them connect to each other as well as connecting to the past [...] honestly it's phenomenal and I don't feel like I'm reading a fanfiction, I feel like I'm reading a novel.
- Reader, Ghostglaceon; Chapter 35
What really makes this story beautiful and feel real is how everything is living outside of our main characters. Cultures, races, events, people's lives and decisions. A character doesn't make a choice because it's convenient to our characters but because it's convenient to themselves and their circumstances.
- Reader, Eraven; Chapter 35
*binge reading*
this was so good!!
Readers, withredhair and PinkStorm, who have both commented on every single chapter since chapter 1. I never thought I’d get *one* dedicated commenter let alone two. I’m super grateful T.T

She-Ra World War I au, because I have played too much Battlefield 1
Catra, Entrapta, Scorpia, Kyle, Rogelio and Lonnie all crew a Mark V tank named Darla. Entrapta is constantly making improvements and repairs, as expected, so it’s not even comparable to a real Mark V anymore. Catra is the commander, Entrapta is the driver, Scorpia crews one sponson by herself because there’s no space for anyone else on that side (these things are very small inside), and the Horde Trio are on the other sponson.
Everyone carries custom guns made by Entrapta. Scorpia gets a carbine version of the Mars Automatic, chambered in .455 Webley Auto and with a stock. Catra has a C96 in 9x25mm Mauser Export with a stock and a snail mag. Kyle has an obrez, which are infamous for their high recoil and overall crappiness. Rogelio has a C93 with a stock and extended magazine, and Lonnie has a regular Luger P08 Artillery variant.
People keep asking about the guns, and Catra is so fed up with it that whenever someone asks, she shoots their helmet off with unerring precision
Scorpia is just as big and strong as she is in canon. She was introduced to the rest of the crew while carrying a 60lb Maxim gun with no effort. Entrapta made the Mars carbine as a gift for the Christmas Truce in 1914 because nothing else would fit in her hands.
Entrapta has a gas mask instead of a welding mask.
One of the carrier pigeons is named Emily, and she follows Entrapta everywhere, no matter how implausible it is for a pigeon to get there.
Entrapta constantly passes out while working on Darla because Mark Vs are notorious for their bad ventilation, and the fumes from the engine would gather in the cabin. Entrapta has been meaning to put in a better ventilation system, but she never gets around to it. Everyone else lets this happen because they assume the gas mask can filter out carbon monoxide. It can’t.
Hordak has to order nightly inspections of the tank to make sure Entrapta doesn’t die after passing out and being left with fumes for hours because no one checked on her
Entrapta later switches to a splatter mask because it offers better eye protection, and she didn’t really need a gas mask
The rebellion characters are mostly in an infantry squad together
Adora is still kind of she ra, because when they go into battle she puts on this
Bow and Perfuma are trans in this au
Bow only joined the army because Glimmer did, and when the physical examiner found out he was trans, Glimmer threatened him into giving Bow a clean bill of health
The unit is all women (except for Bow), in a similar concept to the Harlem Hellfighters
Perfuma joined as a conscientious objector, but every time they fight, she steals Frosta’s rifle and fights with it because Frosta is only 14 and Perfuma cannot restrain herself
Their unit is nicknamed the Princess Alliance. It’s meant to be derogatory, but they use it as a badge of honor
They have a rivalry with the Horde tank crew, to the point they are at war with each other as much as the enemy
Scorpia once threw an entire Maxim gun at Adora because she didn’t recognize her with the armor on, and she was unconscious for a full day
Adora later replaces her armor with something Entrapta made for her as a peace offering between their units, which is lighter and less bulky but more bulletproof because it’s made of better metal, and replaces her MG 08/15 with a Huot Automatic Rifle
I have more about this au, I will post it when I figure it out
Also credit to @spiritsophia for helping me develop this

Unfriendly reminder that Russia has committed warcrimes in Ukraine. They’re probably not going to be prosecuted for it because they’re a big country, and warcrimes are only ever prosecuted as a powertrip for the people who won the war. But just to keep a record, Russia has committed at least two separate offenses multiple times by my count:
Violating Sections 2(b)i, 2(b)ii, 2(b)iv, and 2(b)v of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court: Deliberately attacking civilians and civilian targets by bombarding cities with no plausible military target nearby, so they can’t just say they missed a military target and hit civilians by accident
Violating Section 2(b)ix of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court: Attacking hospitals and medical personnel, again by bombardment with no plausible military target nearby
And a third possible one the Russian military hasn’t done yet:
Using thermobaric weapons. I’m not sure if that is a warcrime, but it could be argued as one, due to the unusual method of killing falling under Section 2(b)xx   (Employing weapons, projectiles and material and methods of warfare which are of a nature to cause superfluous injury or unnecessary suffering). They have prepared them and are ready to use them as of Feb 26th 2022. Please spread this around so we can put public pressure on the US and International Criminal Court to prosecute the Russian military leaders and possibly Putin as well. My #1 post of 2022
I wonder how many times Razz has lived through the events of the show. When she meets Mara in Hero, she doesn't recognize that's the first time until Mara says she doesn't know her. She's been there and everywhere else so many times that she can't even remember which is which. And she always knows just what to say and just what to show Adora. How many times has she gone through it all? Watched everything fall apart and come back together again? Do you think she ever feels guilty for not having done better? Do you think she misses it, now the magic is there and she doesn't jump around? Was she even know which scene was the right one? Or which path she took to here? What does that do to her?

#protectAdora2020
Felt cute, thought I'd post this analysis I wrote a while ago, but I held off because of screenshots, but now I'm too busy to do that soooo.......have fun reading :D -----
The tragedies of Adora's character are rooted in the concepts of identity and choice and what it means to love and accept yourself. You can even say Adora's identity crisis closely parallels that of say, a young queer person from an oppressive background struggling to embrace their sexuality and who they are.
One of the first facets of Adora's identity is chipped away when she realizes the Horde is evil. She has a rude awakening that the people she knew, the people she looked up to, her family, have all been lying to her. Everything she'd known in her life up to this point was a lie. Because she loves Catra so profoundly, she assumes when she tells Catra the 'truth' that she will turn tail and run away with Adora. When Catra does not and reveals that she knew all along what the Horde was doing, it rips another piece of her identity away. In her mind, her best friend isn't who she thought, and it hurts. In Promise, she gets a glimmer of hope, but their trauma and memories tear them apart because Light Hope wanted Adora to let go of Catra. To activate the Heart, you can't have a heart. Even then, Adora's never fully let go. Note that Adora had no choice but to grow up in the Horde— it's all she's ever known yet her dedication to morals and ideals are so powerful she's able to defect without thinking of the person she loves the most. "I had no choice— I couldn't go back," she says. Ironically, this is one of the few times Adora actually did make a choice, and in her mind, later on, it blew up in her face.
Another piece of Adora's identity is broken away when she learns the truth about her origins: she is not of Etheria; Adora had a family, and she was taken from them without choice. Learning this devastates her for two reasons: 1) people have lied to her again, and 2) she feels robbed of a life that could have been because she never wanted to be a hero. We see this in how she tries intimidating Shadow Weaver— "Tell me the truth, for once." One thing that sticks out in this scene is when SW says, "or perhaps you would have preferred the comfort of lies." SW raised Adora, and she knows how dedicated Adora was to the Horde when she did not see the truth. Adora saw how Catra was treated and yet did not believe the Horde was evil again because, in the Horde, you don't get to form an opinion or identity— you are a soldier and nothing more. The only foundation to build herself on was a higher purpose/goal, which was to free Etheria from the Princesses. So yea, when Shadow Weaver tells her the truth and when Light Hope confirms that SW was, for once, not lying, she's at a loss. The few times people actually tell her the truth are plagued with drastic consequences. She's so demoralized that she chooses to venture to the Crimson Waste, a place known for being barren, deadly and somewhere no one visits willingly. When Huntara betrayed her, Adora was so devastated because it was finally her chance to get answers for herself— to not have to rely on others to reveal her destiny. Then she gets kidnapped, it all goes to shit, and everyone is sad (aka me).
Adora learning she had been robbed of a chance for a happy life devastates her. You can see this clearly when she screams at Light Hope, "Don't I get a choice?" to which Light Hope responds— "You do not get to choose. You are chosen." Recall when Mara says, "I never wanted to be a hero,"—Adora, at this point, is in the exact same boat. She never wanted to be a hero; she was living up to expectations thrust upon her. She was doing what people thought she should be doing. None of this was her choice. She never wanted to leave Catra. She never asked for this.  Catra describes Adora as "earnest, naive, ridiculously easy to manipulate," and the fact that Catra herself pointed this out shows just how well anyone who really knows Adora can work her. Adora's impulsive nature is also positively reinforced throughout the series— she finds the sword, defects and is rewarded with new friends, a new home, and a life she never dreamed she could have.
Adora's abuse had such lasting impact because it preyed on her naivety and dedication to her morals and ideals; she must do this to serve the greater good, she must be useful or else what good is she? It damaged her psyche so negatively that even Razz comments, "You ran into the woods and asked the first old lady you saw what you should do." Ironically enough, when she punches Catra in the portal, she says, "You made your choice— now live with it!" When you really think about it, though, did they really get to make any choices based on what they wanted? Yes, Adora chose to defect, yes Catra pulled the lever. But is that what they wanted? Earlier on in the portal episode, she comments, "Catra, this can't be what you wanted!" The thing is, even Adora doesn't know what she wants at this point; Adora is doing what she thinks she should be doing because Light Hope bent the truth. Which brings me to...
The final piece of her identity that's chipped away is when she learns the truth about the Heart of Etheria— that she was not chosen to be a savior but to be the key to a superweapon whose sole purpose is destroying worlds in the name of 'peace.' This piece shattering comes to a head when she, for the first time, defies her predetermined destiny. She essentially breaks her sense of duty because, in Mara's words, "you can save the world we love." This is intentional; Mara could have said, "you can save Etheria!" but she instead chose to go for the heart. It's because of this love, not factions, or artificial ideals that she's able to overpower all the magic on Etheria.
While this may seem extreme given that she's lost in the past against less threatening enemies, it actually makes perfect sense. When Mara tells Adora the truth about the Heart, she says Adora "will be more powerful than they ever planned." We get the first hint of this on Beast Island when she overpowers her fears and insecurities to save her friends, who she loves. The second glimpse we get of this is when she overwhelms Light Hope and even gives Light Hope enough strength to defy her own programming— all because Light Hope loved Mara. And when she awakens the She-Ra within, it will be because she loves you-know-who (NOT VOLDEMORT).
I'm going to take a brief tangent, now—think about where Adora was raised: the Horde. Now think about how she left everything behind because she realizes the Horde is evil and found the Sword of Protection— aka a First One's artifact. Now think about how she left everything behind to become She-Ra for the 'greater good.' Think about Adora's reaction when she found out she was a First One. Now think about how the First Ones turned out to be not such good people after all. Next, go ahead and think about how Adora is going to grapple with the fact that the ideologies of the place she was born and the place she was raised in completely clash with her own. Though we know She-Ra isn't actually a nefarious being, Adora does not. In Adora's mind, if the First Ones made the Sword and the Sword is She-Ra, then that means She-Ra, Adora, was the villain all along. To top it off, in the Horde, she was always in the spotlight, a centerpiece made for greatness, just like when she was She-Ra. You'll bring peace and order to Etheria, Adora— you are Etheria's champion, Adora, but by the way, when we mean peace, we totally mean destroying everything. That's not gonna ruin anything, right?
Does this hurt yet? Cause it's about to get worse! Now combine everything you just read with Adora's hero complex— everything is my fault. She needs to feel useful to feel like she's worth existing, but what happens when two core parts of her identity are the reasons why there's so much turmoil on Etheria? What happens when, though obviously untrue, she feels like she does make everything worse? Remember when Light Hope told her that her friends get hurt whenever she's around? Remember when Glimmer first called her a heartless destroyer in the pilot? Remember how that came full circle, and Glimmer later blamed Adora for Angella's death? Yea, it's not going to be good, chief. And she sacrificed everything and everyone for the Sword— in a way, the Sword represents Adora, and she willingly destroys it to save everyone else. Adora breaks herself to save the world. Mara, Adora—it all ends the same. Hurts, doesn't it?
So now that the sword is broken, her relationship with Catra seems irreparable, and Glimmer's been taken by an ominous alien warlord, what should she do? You can tell her spirit is at its lowest point by the composition of the scene: she's alone and small in a dark void, with nothing but broken pieces at her feet. She stares at these broken pieces with heartbreak; this is all a metaphor for her current state of mind and how she is processing everything. She is also realizing, or will realize, that all of this heartache that she's suffered in the name of the 'greater good' was for a lie; she sacrificed everything, gave up her heart, for a lie.
When she sees Bow afterward, she seemingly hardens her resolve. At this point, however, this resolve is a facade— Adora is terrified, she no longer has a purpose, She-Ra is gone. How is she going to be useful without the sword? She's going to save the universe, but how? In S1E9, when she had to rescue Bow and Glimmer from the Horde, Angella asks her, "How are you going to do that?" In the season four finale, Bow expresses the same doubt— 'what are we gonna do?' When Angella asked her, the first thing Adora did was put on a brave face. Then, however, we see the beginnings of a breakdown; she buries her face in her hands and begins sobbing silently. Of course, the other princesses unite, and they save the day.
Adora's identity is completely shattered at this point except for one thing: her attachments. Her love. And while Adora herself thinks some of these attachments are broken, the truth is that they aren't. Glimmer obviously still cares. Catra has always cared— it's why she went to such extremes. Her attachments, her heart will become her new compass— not her ideals. When she tries leaving everyone for the greater good, Swift Wind reminds Adora that her friends need her, that they've always needed her. Then she has a moment— she says, "I didn't choose to become She-Ra to fulfill some destiny. My attachments, my friends, are a part of who I am." This will come full circle, especially because of her fight with Glimmer, a fresh wound. Adora's self-worth is tied to what she can do for others, their expectations and Glimmer blaming Adora for her mother's death takes a significant toll on her self-esteem. At this point, Adora (and her hero complex) is probably thinking that this is all her fault and she needs to fix it, which is what she tries doing in Hero, only to learn that Etheria is a weapon, etc.
There's good news, though; the only way now is up. Adora will only pick herself back up, will only awaken her She-Ra powers within when she chooses to believe in herself and when she chooses what she fights for. Razz will have a big part in this since she always seems to come to Adora at some of her lowest points. S1E3 will come full circle because Razz tells Adora that she must decide for herself what is right. And an essential piece of Adora coming to believe in herself and deciding what she fights for will be Catra. In essence, she's the only person that truly knew Adora before she became She-Ra, and Adora, no matter how messed up their relationship grew, loves Catra with all her heart. The tragedy behind their relationship is that their love is so strong— but the actual thread holding it together was (hehe)...shadow weaved. They were torn apart by lies and misunderstandings and the tragic Scapegoat vs. Golden Child dynamic.
To conclude, Adora's character arc is so tragic because it deals with the fallout and consequences of a life-altering identity crisis. For many people in the LGBT+ community, that is a very relatable thing. I'd also like to add that Catra's journey parallels Adora's in how facets of her identity heavily influenced by the Horde are chipped away piece by piece until, again, Catra makes a choice of her own to save Glimmer. In the past, Adora and Catra were always brought back to each other, not by free will, but external influences. They were torn apart by deception, manipulation, misunderstandings. Now that their hearts are broken in such a way that each half finally fits with the other, now that the infected pieces of the past are gone, they'll learn the truth. Adora and Catra will find their way home when they both choose each other because of love and trust, and when they acknowledge that love. This new bond, this promise, won't be out of survival; this promise will be out of true love, out of two halves of a heart finding their way home and becoming whole again.
It's beautiful and compelling storytelling not just for individual characters on parallel journeys to self-actualization and finally believing in themselves and their own choices, but for showing two young women on the cusp of adulthood—both who were abused in different ways that molded their worldview, who have different skill sets, who complement each other like light and darkness—learning to love themselves and recognize their love for one another. Like fire and ice, night and day, good and evil, neither can exist without the other. They are a core part of each other's identity. And the fact that the finale episode is most likely called "Heart"? Can it get any more obvious?
Also, fuck Shadow Weaver.

I know that there are already some posts about Catra trying to protect the Best Friends Squad from Melog when they first reveal themselves in “Shot in the Dark” (and for good reason), but I also think we should comment on Adora’s reaction when Melog roars angrily right next to Catra. Catra got scared, Glimmer and Bow backed away a little, but Adora? She yells “get away from her” and tried to make that happen herself before Catra literally stood in the way. She had plenty of reasons, like everyone else, to be afraid of Melog back then, but the minute they showed signs of aggression near the woman she was in love with Adora was ready to throw hands.

best friends squad showing up for negotiations (from my peacetalks verse)
i mostly wanted to draw adora in military regalia cause.. f*ck military propaganda and all but damn does she look good in uniform. i figure by this point in the war both she and bow would be decorated war heroes to the rebellion, and would dress as such to a diplomatic event. the colors obviously reflect she-ra’s colors, even if adora is going as herself to these negotiations.
glimmer is wearing both her regalia as a commander and as a monarch. she’s wearing a crown with a hanging teardrop gem that pays tribute to her mother angella because... well, just think about why.

Catradora x Fem!Reader- The Rescue
After the War Series
Y/N= Your name
E/C= Eye colour
H/C= Hair Colour
A/N: I’m sorry in advance for anyone named Hannah. You can think of any other name if you want.
This is after they return back to Etheria.
Warning! This is kinda my first time writing Polyramy? And I’d say none of the characters are gonna be in character. I’m tired, and I haven’t written anything in a while.
In other words it’s gonna be bad.
Since I didn’t want to write a whole story about this yet, I’ll just say that Y/N had been raised with Catra and Adora (like most reader fanfics lol. They obviously had feelings for each other, just hadn’t admitted it). Whether she went with Adora or stayed with Catra, is completely up to you. Y/N eventually did take refuge with Adora and the squad, though, after Horde Prime’s attack on Etheria.
Adora let out a cheer, pumping her fists in victory. “Whoo! We’re home!” Picking up Catra beside her, she swung her around in excitement, the two laughing excitedly. “We’re finally home! We’re gonna see Y/N!”
As their excitement died down, their chuckles subsiding, Adora realised just how she was holding Catra. She had her arms wrapped around the feline woman’s waist, their foreheads touching.
Adora’s face flushed pink, as she hurriedly let her go. Catra crossed her arms, facing the other way with the same pink blush. Glimmer and Bow, who’d been watching them, shared a glance.
The blonde walked over to the ship’s, Darla’s, door. “You guys ready?” She asked.
(Time skip)
The squad trekked through the trees, trying to find their friends hide-out. As they walked, there was a loud rustling in the bushes coming from behind them. Adora immediately turned into She-Ra, holding a protective arm in front of Catra.
The rustling grew louder, until a large rainbow figure burst from the brush.
“ADORA!”
Adora was knocked over, as Swiftwind charged into her. Catra jumped back, spooked.
The blonde chuckled as she hugged the horse. “Swiftwind! You’re ok! Haha!”
Swiftwind had a relieved look on his face. “Thank god you’re back, Adora. I have some bad news. Really, really bad news!”
——————
Horde Prime had gotten everyone.
Including Y/N.
They’d found her not far from their destination, patiently waiting for them. As if knowing they’d come for her.
Adora and Catra stood in front of their best friend. Her once E/C eyes now glow a light, bright green, while her H/C hair had been tied into a ponytail. She smiled at them.
“Hello She-Ra, Little Sister.” She said in a soft voice.
Catra took a step back, horrified. “Y-y/n…n-no…” she whimpered. Adora stepped forward. “Y/N, please. You have to fight back. Come back to us!” She whispered, stepping closer to the girl.
Y/N’s smile never left her face. “You must be mistaken. Horde Prime has taken care of me as if his own. He is my big brother. He cares for me.”
The blonde stopped in her tracks, taken aback by the statement. Catra, snapping out of her trance, rushed to Y/N, about to grab her wrist. “Y/N, please. If your in there, you need to-“
Y/N stepped aside, out of Catra’s reach. Latching onto her wrist, she dug her nails into Catra. Catra let out a hiss of pain, as Y/N’s smirk never faded.
“I’m right here. Don’t worry. If you come back to us now, Horde Prime promises not to be angry. Come back, and we can be happy again.” She stated. Catra reeled her hand back, trying to get out of Y/N’s grip.
Adora stepped forward, wrapping her arms around Y/N’s torso, pinning her arms to her side. The girl finally let go of Catra, going limp in She-Ra’s arms for a moment.
“Y/N…remember how we used to hang out? Back in the Fright Zone?”
Y/N didn’t respond. Instead, she lifted up her foot, driving it into She-Ra’s knee. It caused Adora to let go out of surprise, giving Y/N an opportunity to escape.
Now Catra grabbed onto Y/N, holding her wrists and forcing her to look into her eyes.
“Do you remember? We used to climb to the roof to get away from Shadow Weaver and the others. We’d spend hours up there, talking about anything and everything!”
Getting one hand free, Y/N lashed out at Catra, who dodged it.
Now slipping from the feline woman’s grasp, Y/N turned to face the two, a deep scowl on her face.
She-Ra let her form fade away, leaving Adora to reach out her hand. “Please, Y/N. You have to remember.”
——————
Y/N’s eyes faded in and out of focus. Looking at her surroundings, she saw two, small girls her age, pulling her along a corridor. They were fuzzy, their faces blurred so the girl couldn’t tell who they were. Their laughter rang out in the distance, as they ran from an unknown figure.
Y/N groaned, clutching her head. “What’s….happening?” She gasped. Adora gently held onto Y/N’s shoulders. “Y/N?”
Y/N growled, pushing the blonde back. As Adora stumbled to keep her balance, Catra caught her, helping her back to her feet.
Pulling at her hair, Y/N screwed her eyes shut.
The figures were a little clearer now. A blonde girl with barely visible blue eyes, and another girl with long, wild hair and cat ears.
They were all fighting with training staffs. The cat-like girl was fighting the blonde girl, while Y/N was fighting another young girl with dreadlocks.
The girl she was fighting swung her staff at her legs, knocking her over. Y/N fell to the floor, letting out a yelp as she hit her elbow hard on the ground.
The young girl with dreadlocks dropped the staff, crouching beside Y/N. She seemed worried. “Y/N? Oh my gosh are you okay?” She asked anxiously. Her voice was still far away, but closer than the laughter she heard earlier.
Y/N groaned, rubbing at her grazed arm. “Y-yeah, I think so.” She replied. The blonde and cat-like girl rushed over, helping Y/N to sit up. “We’ll go and help Y/N clean this up.” The blonde said, helping Y/N to her feet.
The girl with dreadlocks looked around. “Are you sure, Adora? What if Shadow Weaver catches you?” She asked. The cat-like girl scoffed. “Pfft. We’ll be fine, Lonnie. We’ll be right back anyway.” She stated, wrapping an arm around Y/N as they walked out of the training room.
Y/N hugged herself tightly, head hanging low.
She had to get out.
Adora and Catra slowly stepped closer, but Y/N only stepped backwards, not knowing they were being led toward a fast flowing river.
Catra’s brows furrowed. “Do you remember that time we made the promise?” She asked softly. Y/N’s eyes snapped open, as her mind replayed the memory.
Y/N sniffled, wiping away the tears as she sat on her bunk alone. Hearing someone sit on her bed, she jumped. She hadn’t heard anyone come in.
Adora and Catra sat on either side of her, wrapping her in a hug. “Hey, are you okay?” The blonde asked. Y/N didn’t answer, only letting out a whimper as she wiped her nose.
“What happened?” Catra asked this time. Y/N looked at her two best friends with teary eyes. “H-Hannah was m-mean to me again…” she whispered out.
Catra scowled at the news, but didn’t move. Adora pat Y/N’s head. “Hey, how about we stick together as much as possible from now on. After all, nothing can really be bad as long as we have each other.”
Catra perked up, a grin forming. “Let’s pinky swear on it!” She announced, holding out her two little fingers to her friends.
“We pinky swear to always be there for each other, no matter what.” Catra recited. Y/N giggled a little, wiping away the remaining tears on her cheeks.
Y/N chuckles lightly at the memory, tears rolling down her cheeks. Her natural E/C eyes stared at her two best friends sadly. “I remember later that day. Catra picked a fight with Hannah and left her with a broken nose.” She said quietly. Her two friends laughed along too, crying as they stepped toward Y/N. “Yeah, she deserved it.” Catra snickered, about to embrace Y/N.
Y/N pushed her away, the glowing green eyes returning for a moment. Horde Prime grinned, as he spoke through her.
“You’ve served your purpose, Little Sister.”
All of a sudden, Y/N let out a pained scream. The river, which was now right behind her, splashed around at her feet as her body moved of its own accord.
Y/N looked at her best friends at horror, as she moved closer into the river, falling backwards.
“Y/N!”
Cold water surrounded Y/N, as she was suddenly swept away with the river. She tried to kick her way to the surface, but her body wouldn’t obey her.
Hitting several large boulders as she was swept down stream, she began to panic. Water filled her lungs, taking away her ability to breathe.
A disappointed scoff rang through her mind.
“You Etherians are so weak.”
Y/N’s vision darkened. Suddenly, she wasn’t afraid anymore. She felt a warm sensation flow through her body.
“We promised that we’d always look out for each other…hopefully now, Catra and Adora will look after each other.”
Y/N felt someone grab onto her and pull her upwards, rising to the surface.
Everything went dark, as the girl went numb.
——————
Catra gasped for air, trying to stay afloat as she held Y/N’s limp body in her arms. The river was still dragging the two of them downstream, further and further away from Adora.
“CATRA!”
The feline woman turned to see She-Ra, running along the fast flowing river. Panic was written all over her face. “WHY DID YOU JUST JUMP IN?!”
“I DIDN’T SEE YOU DOING IT!” She hissed out angrily, letting out a yelp as the river almost pulled her below the surface once again.
Adora looked ahead, seeing a log on the path ahead of her. Coming up to it, she lifted it up with ease, throwing it toward Catra and Y/N. Catra let out a shriek as it hit the water nearby. “YOU TRYING TO KILL ME FASTER?!”
Adora rolled her eyes, motioning for Catra to grab onto the log. The feline woman didn’t need to be told, and immediately latched herself onto it, holding Y/N close.
As the two floated toward the bank, She-Ra picked them both up and placed them on land. Catra took a moment to catch her breath.
“Catra…”
Catra looked up at Adora, back to her original self, staring down at Y/N with wide, scared eyes.
“Y/N’s not breathing.”
——————
“Y/N…”
A faint voice called out to her from the darkness. It sounded like a woman…
“Y/N, you have to wake up.”
Y/N looked up to see a woman smiling down at her. She had long brown hair that was tied in a braid, with features similar to Adora’s.
“M-mara?”
“You’re friends are waiting for you.”
“Y/N!”
Y/N abruptly sat up, coughing up water from her lungs. Feeling two pairs of hands holding her up, she opened her eyes to see the blurry figures of Catra and Adora looking down at her in worry and concern.
Seeing her alive and well, the two let out a shaky sigh, bringing the girl into a tight hug. “We thought we lost you.” Adora whispered.
Y/N chuckled, hugging them back. “I’m so glad you’re both okay.”
A/N: Yes it’s rushed, and I’m sorry. But there will be more (I might do some scenes from the show if you guys want me to lol) and I might take suggestions for this series.

the entire cast needs therapy? give me a list of reasons why.
Jesus Christ where do I even start.
Alright so: as a baseline, everyone in the cast has been on a planet at war with itself since they were born, and eventually gets involved in said war. This is not good for anyone's mental health. In more specific terms:
The parts of Etheria aligned with the Rebellion are constantly under attack, which means nobody, fighter or civilian, is having a good time. Thaymore specifically takes a lot of shit. The Princesses are in slightly less constant danger, but it’s their responsibility to protect the people who are, which leads to a different- but still damaging- kind of stress.
(Mermista and Perfuma are both teens [or VERY young adults] who have been put in charge of a kingdom, and Glimmer joins that particular club in season four. This goes double for Frosta, who is a literal middle-schooler.)
The people in the Fright Zone have even more shit to deal with on a personal level, since not only are they constantly at war, they’re a society built around war that values strength above all else and discourages all forms of vulnerability- this culture of shame about being hurt is probably a big factor in why abusive people (some of whom probably helped create that atmosphere in the first place) stay in positions of power: nobody wants to admit weakness by reporting them.
The Galactic Horde isn’t off the hook either- if anything, the people involved in that nightmare have it worse, with a leader who strips them of their identity and freedom and also literally takes their bodily autonomy away from them at random. And they’ve been brainwashed into liking it. And even if anybody wanted to report Prime for anything from the general rapey vibes to the brain invasion, there’s nobody to report it to and no way out.
On the opposite end of the spectrum you have the Crimson Waste. If Prime’s empire is the pinnacle of abusive order, the Crimson Waste is terrifying, constant chaos. It’s a never-ending free-for-all between gangs, set on a backdrop of sand, cacti that can do everything from normal cacti stuff to turning something into a statue, and giant three-headed snakes. An environment this dangerous this consistently is going to have everyone in it on survival mode all the time, which is not good for a person.
To be even more specific, the Best Friends Squad is Dysfunction Junction at its finest.
Glimmer is, as of right now, half an orphan and spent a good season thinking she was a whole orphan. She has, as Netossa puts it, “crippling self-doubt mixed with overwhelming hubris”. She’s got a complex about people taking her seriously, grief over Angella, a sense of not being good enough compared to Angella. Plus she spent some amount of time on the same ship as Prime The Literal Worst, which should be counted as a traumatic experience on its own.
Bow... well, Bow has Seen Some Shit by the end of the series (they all have), but the thing that comes to mind for him specifically is his need to always be the mediator- to be the one thing tying the Best Friends Squad together. Also, he’s terrified of his parents finding out who he really is- George and Lance are very sweet and supportive but the fact that Bow felt the need to hide such a huge part of his identity from them is... concerning, even if it was just the product of a misunderstanding. My guess is, he’s got some sort of anxiety that makes him anticipate the worst from the people who love him.
We could write a book on everything that’s wrong with Adora, but we all know the basics. Lack of a sense of self, hero complex, guilt complex, control freak, constantly having something expected of her, etc. She thinks she’s worthless unless she’s powerful and useful, and she’s got that classic Fright Zone Vulnerability-Related-Shame.
Catra, similarly, has a laundry list of issues. To grossly oversimplify: Extreme external locus of control (Never My Fault in Tv Tropes language), suicidal tendencies, homicidal tendencies, self-loathing, trauma from Prime’s Rape Metaphor Chip, and of course: Fright Zone Vulnerability-Related Shame.
I’m sure there’s more, but that’s the basic rundown. All in all, they’re a mess. Every character. Every single character has perfectly good reasons to be a mess, even the ones that don’t have that trauma explicitly depicted.
