I have an idea that works for witches OR fairytale. It’s basically that Nico is a witch and Will is a knight. According to ~legend~ there’s an evil witch who is holding a princess hostage in the forest. So will is sent on the quest to save the princess. But when he gets there, it turns out the “princess” is a huge lesbian (Im thinking it turns out to be Reyna who is just living with Nico after she ran away from her bad parents) but it’s okay Bc will thinks the “nasty witch” is much much cuter
not just one princess, but princesses from a Bunch of different kingdoms have disappeared, and so have all of the knights that have gone after them
unfortunately for will, he’s the next knight to get sent out to retrieve the princesses without knowing much of anything about the circumstances of their disappearances - the only thing he knows is the rumor of an evil witch who lives in the forest between all of the kingdoms where the princesses have gone missing
he takes a horse and goes alone into the woods - the king always sends individual knights to lower the death toll per trip which is Stupid but like Will can’t argue with the king, so off he goes
he’s pretty sure he gets lost because he’s seen that same pond like three times but there’s no way he’s been going in a circle?? and so he makes camp for the night and just as he’s falling asleep he hears noises around him and suddenly he’s being kidnapped
he wakes up blindfolded and tied to a tree or something, and he hears people around him talking - and one voice,,, sounds suspiciously like princess reyna?? and so will asks if its her and suddenly the blindfold is gone, and theres like 10 people standing in front of him, one of whom is Definitely reyna and is that sir jason grace?? isnt he supposed to be dead???
so reyna explains that she wasnt kidnapped and actually she ran away, and all of the knights who came to “rescue” each of the princesses realized that the princesses would rather be here and all of the knights realized that THEY would rather stay there too and if will wants to stay he’s welcome to but if not then he’ll have to go to the witch (nico) who can wipe his memory so will forgets he ever found them
at this point, will is still loyal to the king, so hes like “uhh yeah i guess im gonna talk to your witch then” and he gets untied from the tree but his hands are still bound behind his back as he gets walked over to some shack
inside is. the Prettiest Guy will has Ever Seen. and hes like “a knight who refused to hang around? interesting” and wills like “I have a loyalty to the throne” and nico is like “i could change that” and will is halfway tempted but he shakes his head and goes “no i was told that you could wipe my memory and send me on my way that’s what needs to happen” and the witch throws some kind of powder in his face and calls it good
will coughs and blinks a few times and when he looks at nico his eyes widen and drops to one knee and bows his head and goes “please excuse my rudeness for not introducing myself sooner, your highness” and nicos like “what whats happening im not royalty” and wills like “forgive me, you’re so handsome i thought you must be a prince”
and basically. nicos mind wipe spell to get will to forget that place and leave actually made him forget that nico is an “evil” witch and now that will has started flirting he Wont Stop
thanks for the suggestion!!

Tell me more about chrysothemis!! I had to google her but now am v intrigued!! Tell me what’s facts then ur hcs plz!!
I think she’s a super interesting character! Her role as a foil to Electra deserved so much more Content and Exploration than it got. I’ve read some analysis that write her off as being a weak/passive character in comparison to Electra because she “accepts” Aga’s murder/Aegisthus taking his place, but it seems to me that choice wasn’t due to a character flaw, but a strength? Logically, keeping her head down makes a lot more sense survival wise than going absolutely apeshit the way Electra does (considering in some versions of the Oresteia it’s said Electra might be imprisoned or worse if she doesn’t accept things the way they are). I think she’s a pretty intelligent character actually and thus takes a lot after Clytemnestra? Like, this exchange--ELECTRA: Do not tell me to betray the ones I love.CHRYSOTHEMIS: That’s not what I’m saying. I’m telling you that you should yield to those in power.E: So use your flattery on them yourself.  What you advise is not the way I am.C: There is no honour in ruining oneself through mere stupidity.E: I will fall, if I must, while honouring my father.C: But I know my father will forgive me for behaving in this way.The fact a lot of analysis’ dunk on her as being Weak Willed makes me feel like they either didn’t read the text well or only support Strong Female Characters™. (relatedly, she reminds me somewhat of Sansa, including the undue hate). With Chryso taking after Cly, and Ele being SO much her father’s daughter, I just love the potential for their interactions. I hc her as like two years older than Ele bc I get big-sis vibes from her advising Ele how to act, but a small gap like that because Ele still talks to her like an equal. It also makes more sense to me that Chryso is a little older because, as in the above quote, she can more reasonably speak to the thoughts of a father she would remember a little better than Ele, who I think holds a more idealized version of him due to being even younger when he left for war (and as @clodiuspulcher reminded me, that would also put Ele closer to Orestes, age wise, who she has a stronger relationship with than Chryso)

I heard abt the frazel thing and wanted to throw in my 2 cents: personally (as in, me ignoring canon) i dont think frank is actually 16. to me, his characterization always seemed closer to 14/15. when i read it, he reminded me more of my freshman friends than my sophmore or junior friends. he just wasnt as mature as Jason or Percy as far as i could tell. so, i just ignore canon. i believe frank is 14 (15 at most) not 16.
Ok!!!!

Hello, kyoshizukka here! Based on what we know to be true within canon, Zuko was likely studying under Piandao when Jeong Jeong deserted! Evidence: JJ was the *1ST* deserter. Zuko was 6 was JJ deserted. Piandao deserted before Iroh’s 600 day siege and therefore before Ursa left. When he deserted, he studied masters from around the globe before returning to the FN.++
++When he returned to the FN, they didn’t acknowledge his existence, but we know Ursa was gone by then. So Zuko likely studied under him when he was still in the military—when Lu Ten and Ursa were still around (JJ deserted). Meaning, he was around 6/7. That leaves the idea that Zuko was training with Piandao when JJ (his soulmate) left suddenly. Take it a step further and maybe JJ visited right before he deserted and that’s when Zuko saw a healthy mlm relationship for the first time
okay this is the most galaxy brain take ive seen in my entire life im absolutely blown away by ur timeline/math deductions i am an anti-math stem student and just wow.jpg.
but also,,angst time. them telling zuko that maybe he shouldn’t talk about it when he goes home bc like, they’ve heard Things about the royal family - like fuck canon homophobia we don’t do that around here, but i still think they’d have that rep like the sozin-azulon-ozai line is just Like That. and maybe. somehow it gets back to them anyway and that’s another reason that ozai makes zuko stop taking lessons from piandao (besides devaluing forms of combat other than bending). and if that coincides somewhat with jj deserting...like zuko isn’t good at navigating social situations for himself but i think he’s not bad at picking up on emotions and he worries. and sorta. represses all of the sorta burgeoning am i like you? could that be me? thoughts bc of his family situation.
i made that depressing sorry sjdkjfksd but just know that the image of pianjeong being those Successful Older Gays (we all know the ones) fr a bby zuko is incredible and this is canon now.

Do you think Clytemnestra was justified in killing Agamemnon?
I’ve been asked this a few times and I feel like it’s a difficult question to answer, to say the least. There are a lot of ways you could, such as:1) It’s irrelevant to try and answer because it’s not the point of this series of stories. We’re shown how eye for an eye justice completely FAILS in this house (Atreus gets revenge on Thyestes, Thyestes gets revenge on Atreus, Aegisthus gets revenge on Agamemnon, Orestes gets revenge on Aegisthus, Orestes is doomed to be Goddamn Miserable– there is never a ‘good end’ after anyone’s revenge) and though Clytemnestra’s intention may have been to end this very cycle of violence that plagues this house through killing Agamemnon, that obviously didn’t work. So from an overall plot/moral of the story standpoint, no? I guess? 2) If not in a overall story sense, is it justified to the reader at least? Dunno, depends how you look at it. Do you take stock in Euripides’ whackass, nonsensical canon (mentioned nowhere else ever) that Agamemnon violently killed Clytemnestra’s first family? Then I guess okay, you can say he had it coming. Given that he had absolutely zero reason to do that, and babies were involved, not sure what reader would miss the scum (see: why there’s no mixed feelings about King ‘I made my nephews into a soup for my bro just for the drama of it all’ Atreus’ murder)However, if we disregard that left-field one liner (as every other text does when talking about Clytemnestra’s reason), then there’s just the murder of Iphigenia to focus on. So then how does the reader interpret Agamemnon’s actions in IoA? Some people seem to come away thinking he just threw her on the altar, cut her throat and was merrily off to Troy on the same day without so much as a second thought spared (These people can not read. Some of them are even published authors. I am deeply sad.) Other readers have said: “I don’t care that he was Conflicted and Sad, he could have just like, Walked Away, you know,” which, as I’ve said in other posts, is a fallacy (there’s plenty of essays to be found on jstor on the subject). If either of these interpretations were correct, then again, I guess? you could feel his murder was justified. Yet I don’t think they are, so…. I won’t get into details here since I’ve written about it before, but his choices were more likely: (kill daughter) or (have an angry mob kill daughter and harm rest of family) or (have an angry god do both A and B and possibly smite the rest of the army as well by association). There never was a Walk Away And Everything’s All Right option. At least, not that his character would have good reason to believe. IoA is a tragedy not because it’s sad that an innocent girl dies to an Evil Man, but because of the utter hopelessness of the situation from all angles. I’ve seen some people who say that Artemis would have just let Agamemnon off the hook if he refused, and it was just a Test all along, but uh, have you read any stories with Artemis/Apollo? Very vindictive gods. The sacrifice was not just to appeal to her for favorable winds, but to apologize for unknowingly killing her sacred deer. He was already locked in to owing her repayment. Can’t just skip out on that. For more on why not to piss off this particular pair, and the bad results which follow if you think their commands can just be ignored, refer to: book 1, the iliadAnyway, getting back to the point, if Agamemnon did in fact have no better choice, if his hand was forced, and the whole catalyst for Clytemnestra’s decision is based on this, does it seem morally justified? I really don’t know. Does she have every reason to hate him all the same, sure. As a mother consumed by her grief, can we understand why she does what she does? Yes! Does his character deserve to get a free pass after the fact that it was likely his own greed in the first place that set off this series of events? Absolutely not.  But I’ve never read his death as being 100% Deserved And Justified, open and shut case, either, for the reason stated above. Final verdict: It’s Complicated.3) Is the reader given indication that it was Justified after the fact? The stories of Electra and Orestes are always what throw me off especially when it comes to how we’re ‘meant’ to interpret Agamemnon’s death. Their lives end up essentially ruined after their father dies, they end up emotionally abused and neglected by the mother. Conversely, both of them are also shown to be unreasonably extreme in some points in their stories, but this also seems author dependent, and, at least for me, never pushes their characters so far to outright be interpreted as The Bad Guys (aight, except for the end of Euripides’ Orestes where Ore just goes absolutely apeshit and decides to commit arson, kidnapping and murder all at once, but…like..Euripides, man. We’ve been over this.) It always has struck an odd chord with me that the character whose whole motive is to avenge her daughter, treats her remaining children so poorly, which leaves me unable to read her as the unproblematic Justified heroine that some others do (spoilers: nearly everyone in this family is heavily flawed, and yet I would still like all of them to live). My point is, I feel like if we, the readers, were supposed to feel Clytemnestra’s choice had been the “right” one, we would either be shown a brighter future after Agamemnon’s death, or at least, Electra and Orestes’ stories likely wouldn’t cast them as such sympathetic characters opposite hers. That isn’t to say these things convey it was the ‘wrong’ choice either, necessarily, but rather that is ambiguous and pinning one of those black and white terms on it is impossible.Having said all that, I want to conclude that this is all obviously based on my own opinion alongside that I’ve put a lot of hours into researching the ins and outs of this particular series of stories. I’m not claiming I’m giving the one correct answer here. Literature can be interpreted many ways, colored by our own preferences and opinions. But I was asked for my own personal take, so there you go :^)

I wish to learn Ancient Greek.. do you have any app recs? Or even websites?
I don’t :( Maybe one of my followers does and could comment? Personally, I’ve just been using books-- I wish I could give a link to each, but rn 99% of my stuff is in boxes because I’m going to be moving soon. The ones I used the most so far and can remember off the top of my head are Introduction to Attic Greek and these two.

How do you feel on the topic of paris+helen being a couple vs menelaus+helen? Like, (i think) i know you prefer menelaus+helen, but what are your thoughts on paris+helen? Was helen leaving a kidnapping tthen? or did she go willing?
I sort of answered this here! In my personal headcanon, she liked him (though I don’t think Loved him, I imagine it a more immature relationship than her one with Menelaus), but she never would have abandoned her family for him if not for Aphrodite’s influence. I def don’t look at it like kidnapping though, I feel like Priam, Hector etc would have had her sent home if that was the case. Also in my version at least, Helen didn’t know that Aphrodite was involved immediately, since I do think she had some chemistry with Paris to start with that kind of blurred the lines, which lead to some of her self-blame
