concept: ADA!Chuuya, but All Men Are Equal gave him total control of his ability by stabilizing it and getting rid of his permanent singularity, so he reverted to his original power: enhancing others' abilities.

After uhh nine months (?) I bring more ada!chuuya content, woo!

I've been having a lot of reverse!skk thoughts lately.

Setting up some context: Oda never died during the Mimic arc. Dazai still unravelled Mori's plan and now there's a huge rift between them. Dazai never trusted Mori completely, and now he barely does. Their dynamic had turned into a power play between them.

Oda's kids still died. Oda lives having survived his suicidal massacre but the weight of his loss and the blood on his hands weighs on him. He is no longer a pacifist. His dream for writing a novel is gone. Dazai has tried to help him, but he can barely help himself so he's kinda bad at it.

Ango's hanging out with the government now! No one trusts him :/

Chuuya leaves a few months after the Mimic incident. He comes across a set of documents proving Mori's involvement with the Arahabaki project as well as his personal tied with the military doctor that is Chuuya's real father. After failing to kill Mori for his betrayal, Chuuya is now a traitor. No one knows why he tried to suddenly kill the Boss, but the incident itself is whispered throughout the entirety of the Mafia. People point to Chuuya's origins in the Sheep as proof that he was a traitor all along, bidding his time.

Dazai doesn't know why. Its driving him crazy.

Chuuya thinks Dazai knew the entire time. They're a mess of zero communication.

Chuuya spends his time hiding out in different parts of the world (he's got friends in the UK so there's that!) He looks for his parents and finds them, only to leave them behind like he's done in canon. He's aware the Mafia is keeping tabs on them, but that's not the only reason why he left.

He gets a little reckless, beats up some bad guys. He doesn't know exactly what to do with his life, so he's kind of mess.

His little vigilante spree reaches Chief Taneda, who sends Ango to keep tabs on him and offer him a job. Can't have a former military experiment of infinite power running around without supervision.

Chuuya, uh, does not take the offer well (poor Ango).

Chief Taneda finally confronts him in person, says if he wants a job Taneda knows a guy who is not affiliated with the government and whom Chuuya might like (received almost as badly, but Chuuya considers it).

While Chuuya's mulling over this weird offer, he runs into a human trafficking organization that was in conflict with the Sheep back in the day. He's got an excuse to beat up more bad guys. Guess who he ends up running into (yes it's the Agency).

More specifically, it's Ranpo! They squabble, they team up, the works. Ranpo is like "Do you want a job" and Chuuya is like "That's sus but I'll think about it" (he does in fact want it)

Chuuya ends up meeting the other Agency members before he agrees (Ranpo 100% has nothing to do with that. Totally.) He likes them. He thinks they're all insane. He misses having people around who aren't there to double cross him. He takes the job.

Chuuya avoids the PM like the plague.

And then he meets Atsushi.

They're exes, it's not super important, probably won't even be said, I just need it to be known

Chuuya helps tutor the kids, he's very good at it

Kenji and him are probably the closest, Tanizaki being lowkey scared of him and Naomi being fairly neutral to him

Chuuya has got money. Alot. He's still very much working in black market trading. He's very good at it

Chuuya is kinda like that cousin who's done illegal shit and now makes sure you stay out of trouble, to Atsushi

He doesn't helicopter. But he will show up and bail him out of trouble, while chewing him out

He helps Kunikida teach the kids how to fight. As a result Kenji has a much better control of his strength and skill, and Tanizaki is three times as dangerous as canon Tanizaki.

Fukuzawa caved and started teaching Chuuya swordplay. He's got a little over a year of training.

Chuuya is constantly buying the Ada stuff.

Soukoku headcanons from my Chuuya ADA AU

-Chuuya and Dazai actually get along really well now (after spending 2 years in hiding together), the bickering is simply theatrical because Dazai is a melodramatic piece of shit. The rest of the agency simply adapted to the yelling, although they were concerned at first.

-Whenever Kunikida reprimands Dazai, Chuuya will butt in like "yeah Dazai don't jump in the river" "yeah Dazai don't do that again or you'll get fired" with the most SMUG look on his face. Kunikida almost always shouts at Chuuya for this, to which Dazai will return the smug look

-While in hiding, with nothing else to do, they watched a shit ton of reality TV to pass the time. They once stayed up for 3 days straight marathonning Keeping up with the Kardashians and love island, and they both constantly make references and jokes about it. For example:

Ranpo, *complaining about the fact he's run out of snacks to Chuuya*

Chuuya, looking over at Dazai from across the office and grinning: KIM THERE ARE PEOPLE DYING

Dazai, who was drinking coffee: *spits it all over Kunikida across the table from him*

-Again, because they had a lot of free time on their hands in hiding, they watched a lot of movies. Chuuya is a film nerd now. And Dazai is pretentiously into music the same way. They clash a lot about it. Dazai will make fun of Chuuya's favourite movies and Chuuya will respond with something like "i dont want to hear anything from the person who unironically listens to Radiohead and The Smiths."

-Fukuzawa considered partnering Chuuya and Dazai, but quickly realised that they would get no work done and it would be unproductive as hell. As such, Dazai is partnered with Kunikida, and Ranpo practically begged to be partnered with Chuuya, since now he has his own personal battering ram with a powerful ability. Fukuzawa DEFINITELY regrets this sometimes (all the time actually) because Ranpo is corrupt (affectionate) and irresponsible with his newfound authority over such power, and Chuuya is just chaos personified (he gives the agency more bad reviews than Dazai, simply because he punches first, asks questions later, like one time he punched a woman in the face bc she was suspicious when all she wanted was for them to help find her missing cat)

-Chuuya, upon learning that Fukuzawa is a martial artist too, challenged him to a fight. It is one of the only times that he's gotten his ass absolutely HANDED to him, and since that day he has respected the president immensely.

-Chuuya tried to get Fukuzawa to teach him how to wield a sword, and Fukuzawa was like "no." because the mere thought of Chuuya with a SWORD is absolutely terrifying (I cant remember who originally wrote the post I saw that had this hc in it, but whoever you are, I love u and i've adapted it into my au which I will probably never get around to writing, so thank you.) Also to add on to that, he tried to spar against fukuzawa using a sword once because "how hard can it be?" Turns out, it is very hard. He learns this through accidentally smacking himself so hard in the head with his own sword (he'd applied his ability to it) that he gave himself a major concussion and had to be hacked apart by Yosano to heal it.

-Chuuya loves animals. Sometimes of he finds a stray dog or cat in the street he'll just bring it to the agency and walk in like "GUYS GUYS LOOK WHAT I FOUND!" It used to annoy the heck out of everyone (except Ranpo bc they are partners and he is COMPLICIT FR he helps Chuuya sneak the animals into the building lol) especially Dazai because of his hatred for dogs, but once they all see how happy Chuuya is they cant bring it in themselves to say anything because THE SMILE!!

-Leading off of that, one time a bird flew into the window so Chuuya brought it inside thinking it was hurt. Him and Ranpo spent 3 hours taking care of it and feeding it seeds etc. Dazai then tried to pick the bird up, and it got spooked, flying around the office and causing absolute HAVOC for another hour until Kunikida managed to catch it with his skill.

-Atsushi's dorm was originally Chuuya's, but because both Chuuya and Dazai got so used to each other being around during their two years in hiding, and since they're together, they'd always barge in on each other and end up crashing in each others rooms (mostly Dazai's). So when Atsushi joins the ADA, Chuuya offers to give up his dorm since he basically lives with Dazai anyways. Atsushi found a stash of wine his first night in the dorm and was very confused.

Again, Atsushi is just happy to be there honestly and he's so slay for that :)

A little Christmas Special

(Part two comes tomorrow ;) Stay tuned~)

It was a snowy day out in Yokohama, bright and beautiful and silent, frozen crystal flakes flitting from the smooth fluffy white clouds above. Trees were decorated with ornaments from angels to musical instruments and brought to litter all around town, garlands with pine cones and red bows were hung around nearly every lamppost. Children were in fierce snowball fights and creating snowmen all around town, parents watching from afar and conversing with one another whilst they played.

It was Christmas Eve, and the Armed Detective Agency was decorated as much as it could physically handle, everyone even dressed for the occasion in a variety of Christmas Sweaters (most however, we’re ugly Christmas sweaters, but we’re warm all the same). Everyone had given their coworkers presents set on their desks for each individual in mind to take home for the day off tomorrow, everyone receiving a present, and few, who were eager, shook the box with their ears near. All except two vacant desks with presents stacked, which the staff of the Agency collectively awaited for Soukoku to make an appearance, as the atmosphere would be jollier with their presence. Of course, by the mere thought— BAM.

Kunikida and Atsushi turned first, exchanging glances, nodding in unison of understanding—They arrived. Not even a moment later, Chuuya ran in, using his ability to throw gifts at literally everyone that stood up. “MERRY FUCKIN’ CHRISTMAS EVE!” The redhead hollered, spreading his wings upward as much as he could excitedly. Atsushi tumbled over with the gift plummeting into his face, while Kunikida sat there as it slowly slid into his bent arms. Yosano peeled hers off her shoulders and Kenji had to catch his, considering he was too short for the initial blow to catch him. Ranpo nearly lost his through the window, but managed to snatch it by the bow before it could go further. Kyoka, however, did not move at all, and willed Demon Snow into existence to catch it for her instead. “Merry Christmas,” she said dully, but with a smile, since that was merely her usual tone. “I didn’t expect to get to get a present from you too.” “It’s the season of giving Kyoka, and we have a lot of money to waste. Get used to it.” Chuuya said, crossing his arms as he made his way to his desk, dropping the other gifts to the staff that weren’t present currently on his desk. Dazai followed with a snort. “Merry Christmas Eve to all of you as well,” he greeted, training his eyes on the excited redhead, who maneuvered the Christmas hat on his head out of his face.

“Thanks for nearly killing everyone,” Ranpo said nonchalantly, shaking his gift and quickly announcing: “It has to be a new game. Is it? Oh I wonder whichhh—“ Chuuya quickly interrupted when he caught on. “Don’t you dare fuckin’ put your glasses on, I will throw them out the window—” “NOOOOOHHH!” Ranpo quickly ran away and accidentally discarding his glasses to the floor while retreating into a nearby room, drawing a few giggles from some of his coworkers. “I better hope it’s wine,” Yosano spoke richly, lifting the bag by its handles, studying the glittering red surface. “Guess you’ll find out tomorrow.” Chuuya said with a shrug, checking how many gifts he had with a little sway of his shoulders. Kyoka made small noises as she glanced at her boxes wistfully. “Wow, even I got gifts?” Dazai asked, delicately lifting wrapping paper to try and peek in one of them before getting promptly slapped in the wrist. “No peeking. I said you can open one gift when we get home but you’re gonna have to wait,” Chuuya huffed. At the same time, Kunikida sighed. “Yes, even someone the likes of you can get a present.” He spoke directly to Dazai, who unfurled a brilliant grin. “Let me guess, yours is some specific schedule designed for me to be everywhere at a certain time for your perfect schedule?” He was quick to avoid a swipe to the head with rolled up newspaper. “Quit it, guys. Hey, where’s Atsushi, by the way?”

Kunikida tilted his head to the ground just as soon as Kenji piped up: “Oh, he’s lying on the floor! I D’nno if he’s taking a nap, though.” “A nap?” Kyoka asked, walking around the desks to stare down at Atsushi, crouching and poking his face.

“…Ah, just leave him there,” waved off Dazai, taking Chuuya’s hand. “Besides, didn’t you want to round up everyone to go to the shopping district?” “Ya mean the downtown mall, right?” Chuuya asked, tucking his wings so he could see Dazai behind them. “Yeah, and didn’t you say they had a ska—“ Chuuya slammed both hands over Dazai’s mouth. “Shush! We ain’t spoilin’ nothin! Kenji,” Chuuya added, twisting his head to capture the farm boy’s attention. “Can ya get the President and the Tanizaki twins? We’re heading out.” “All of us?” Yosano asked, raising a brow, to which Kunikida lifted his glasses, about to go on a full rant about how they all had work to do— “All of us.” The redhead agreed.

“Get the shit that’s necessary and let’s fuckin’ go, or stores will close early, and it’ll get too dark to see bull walkin’ back. And get Atsushi up off the floor, someone drag him with.” “I can do that!” Kenji chirped, before sliding into the hallway to the President’s office. Dazai snorted. “So demanding~” He cooed, wrapping his arms around the redheads neck, since his waist was too low to reach for the lazy brunette (he of course, had priorities, and liked to continue to pick on Chuuya from time to time). Just as Chuuya was about to defend himself, someone appeared next to them. “Can I get candy?” Ranpo asked as he sidled up next to Dazai, who slid a bit to his right to allow Chuuya to gaze up to him. “The hell? I just said get the shit you need and let’s go, and I think I mentioned stores will close, what gave you the impression that I’m forbidding you from purchasing your own stuff?” Ranpo stared.

“…I was half listening.” He admitted, with hardly an ounce of guilt, a candy cane stuffed in his mouth and muffling him. Dazai held in a laugh as Kyoka tugged Ranpo. “I got a small allowance for some candy shopping…we can share it later. Or I can get you what you like, maybe…” The man’s eyes gleamed. Eventually Soukoku got everyone rounded up and out the several flights of stairs and the door, soon traveling to the mall on foot (with of course the bustle of sidewalk traffic and stoplights). Along with shuffling in the snow it was chaos, but it was fun regardless. When they got there it was slightly dimmer out, but not by much.

Instantly the ADA members parted, Yosano intent on finding clothes, Kunikida mentioning about a coffee to repel his headache that was beginning to work up his head, Kenji joining Atsushi and Kyoka to go to the toy shop, and the Tanizaki siblings cuddling close to find a bench somewhere to watch the scenery unfold. Fukuzawa was dragged like a cat that had no will of its own to take a bath by Ranpo who disappeared with him, more than likely to the candy shop.

Chuuya and Dazai were left alone momentarily. A beat of lovely silence enveloped them as the redhead turned to lean into his man. “Shall we enjoy time alone?” Chuuya sighed, batting his eyelashes and relaxing into Dazai, who grinned down at him. “We have time before we bring everyone to the special surprise, so we can walk around for a bit.” “Mmm…I’m in the mood for hot chocolate, what do you say?” Chuuya asked, bringing up his ear feathers with a sly grin (and flinching to the sound, of course). “Something tells me it won’t only be hot chocolate.” Dazai said, tucking the redheads feathers away, mimicking Chuuya as he pulled the two to a coffee shop, more than likely where Kunikida vanished to.

They order hot chocolate with whipped cream and some seasonal sprinkles along with two gingerbread cookies. Why yes, they ignored Kunikida’s skeptical glare from behind while he seated himself cozily against a wooden stool, drink in hand. When their order was paid for, they quickly scuttled out of the place before they were going to be bothered by the man any more than they already have been. After finishing the cookies (along with some playful, suggestive glances, of course), and sharing the hot coco and discarding its contents once the liquid was drained, the two continued on walking around the plaza, kids running past and giggling madly, a frenzy of snow balls flying this way and that. Chuuya had to tug Dazai out of the way a few times, his face unmoving as he took the man to the sidewalk to stick to stores glittering with all sorts of warm feeling Christmas decorations. After a while, Chuuya, unbearably achy in his wings despite being outside and in all of the joyful, beautiful snow, continuously rubbed his back to sooth his wings. However, Dazai having seen this, dragged Chuuya to a crevice in between buildings, lodging Chuuya into it and maneuvering his arms under Chuuya's garments. "D-Dazai, not in public you--" "Quiet. Just take this." Dazai massaged Chuuya's wings until the redhead looked like he was ready to melt, sighing in relief. "C'mon…let's go, the others are waiting." The redhead murmured, eyes hazy as he looked up to Dazai, pretty much unable to fully seperate himself from the man, since he was literally shoved into a corner. "They aren't until we call them, Winglet," Dazai corrected, whispering into Chuuya's ear, making the redhead jump, and the feathers across his neck flare up and fluff. "…You're too in your head for my liking," Chuuya murmured, eyeing Dazai as he withdrew a bit. "Hmmm?" Was all Dazai could get out before he was yanked into a kiss. A fast one, but delicious, none-the-less, teeth sinking into his bottom lip, but not hard enough to pierce or bruise. Desperate enough to draw soft moans from Chuuya. Possessive Dazai began to take over, about to devour the man infront of him whole--- "…Dazai?" But they were met with a predicament. Specifically, a certain Weretiger, covering Kyoka and Kenji's eyes.

here you go, a little more brainworms regarding that au!

• when Baki wakes up in a back alleyway and tries to stand up they overdo it and snap Chuuya's spine in the process. they try to walk and all of a sudden they are on the ground with mild pains from the vessel' legs. they aren't sure how a human body works, so for now they decide to just float.

• Baki, in my hc, is very curious for just about everything because it's quite rare that they 'view' the world through a humans' eyes

• piggybacking off of that, i think that they'd have trouble expressing their thoughts in the beggining (speaking in short, sometimes conflicting/unfinished sentences) because using human vocal cords without snapping them is difficult and also words have changed since the last time they were actively using them. Ranpo just chucks a dictionary at them and they absolutely ABSORB every word

• i also think that they'd want to sword fight with both Fukuzawa and Golden Demon/ Kouyou for fun

• they can make Dazai float and he just about gives up on life ( something something 'your human existence can not deny mine' yeah me thinks)

• i personally think that theyd be slightly more chill than expected, however when they get upset, or emotions generally run high, the control over the body begings to wobble. some examples of that being:

- the overlapping voices are the most common ones. they are a mass manifested through war and suffering and vengeance, thus Baki has to be extremely careful of how loud they speak because there's a great chance that someone's eardrums will explode.

- corruption markings are a damn near permanent fixture on Chuuya's skin, more so to help remind everyone that this isn't Chuuya in control right now (Dazai is constantly stressed about it, and has to consistently tell himself that it's fine), but they tend to grow and glow and move around like they are alive too, as if also taking offence that Baki is agitated. they also burn if touched directly

- people around an Agitated Baki feel like they are about to poof out of existence simply by being too close. Mori nearly dies once because Baki can see his general soul and is not pleased. it kinda feels like your blood suddenly starts running the other way, or your like heart is beating backwards and double in speed. not fun !

- sometimes birds fly into the windows. maybe the sky tints red, maybe there is ringing in the ears, static in the brain of those around them. maybe looking at Chuuya's form hurts a little, burns a little, blurs around the edges. what were his features again? what color were his eyes? his hair?

• Baki loves Chuuya and learning all about him :] ( "and his name? what is his name? we would love to know who our vessel is."

"it's Chuuya Nakahara.."

the entity thinks, hums for a bit, vibrations making the lights swim around it, then pleased, it smiles "hmm Chuuya... it suits him a lot" )

• disregarding stormbringer for a moment, when asked how exactly one traps a being like it, Baki kindly informs them that there are runes carved into every bone inside Chuuya. yes, they do mean every single one.

• also, and that's a little.... gruesome, but it's a misconception that Baki and Chuuya share only a consciousness. "it's like that most of the time, but right now what you are looking at is ... ah, let's say, our clothes. we are woven in-between his skin and bones and every blood vessel, but also we are separate. it's like a hand pupet? we are under his skin :)"

• Baki absolutely says unhinged things like its normal

• they also find it funny to tease Ranpo because they recognise just how smart of a human he is but also he's just that to them. a human

• i also have this scene when someone complains about the sun or something so Baki just,,, shifts either the Earth or the Sun a bit so that it's not shining directly at the person. everyone FREAKS abt this btw

• Baki also loves the Akutagawas and Kouyou bc Chuuya loves them :]

some skk things bc i love them:

• Baki tells Dazai, hand pressed against his heart, looking him dead in the eyes with that slightly unhinged expression "no wonder you hold onto warm things, for you have been warm once, then never again. no wonder you seek to be warm again" and Dazai just has to go through his day after that

• okay last thing off of the top of my head, but somehow they (the ada) get into the topic of worship and Baki casually drops that yes! they get prayers sometimes but nothing even begins to compare to the feeling of the worship from their most devoted person. naturally everyone wants to know who that is, and Baki tilts their head a little and then points to a Very Confused Dazai (Ranpo and Kunikida are exhanging money in the backround btw).

("but... i don't worship the hat rack?? what?"

"oh, but that can't be" they sway a little from their perch on Dazai's desk, appearing as if deep in thought. after the day, Dazai knows better. "but we can distinctly recal feeling a sort of warmth from you. say, how do you define worship? because it can be food offerings too. or thoughts about us or even just the pure, unrelenting faith that as long as you believe in us, your wish will be made into existence"

Dazai blinks at them, stunned.

"so now, has your answer changed?" )

• LAST one. Ranpo asks them if Dazai has ever nullified corruption with a kiss and Baki is like we think so? but Dazai denies that hard. Baki counters by saying that every place where 'coruption' has been nullified burns to this day. twice on left the wrist, once at the forearm. once at the right hand, once at the cheek, and once ot the lips. Dazai may or may not work harder to resolve the issue after that (he's never gonna beat the gay accusations)
