jaric kaedan: designated jerk
Jaric Kaedan is the designated jerk of the cold war era Jedi Council. When there is a mean or aggressive thing the writers want a member of the Council to say, Master Kaedan is nearly always the one to say it. However, I would argue that a lot of the mean things Kaedan says are mean things which needed to be said by someone.
For example, his questioning of Kira Carsen’s loyalty after it is revealed she is a Child of the Emperor is pertinent given the context. That someone who was accepted into the Order as an adult after attempting to steal the hyperdrive of a ship which just happened to belong to a member of the Jedi Council, whose position as that Council Member’s Padawan granted her close access to the Council, has been concealing her origins as a Sith acolyte is suspicious. During Act One the Jedi uncover a Sith sleeper agent, Tarnis, embedded deeply in Republic military research. In Consular Act Three, the potential infiltration of the Jedi Order by the Children of the Emperor is proven to be something Kaedan was absolutely correct to be concerned about. The Council would be remiss in its duty of protection towards the other members of the Order if they didn’t investigate the possibility of Kira being a plant. Arguably, they’d also be failing Kira by not consolidating the evidence proving her innocence because Kira might need that evidence if her status as a Child of the Emperor leaks again in the future.
Kaedan’s cynicism about the prospects of Tol Braga’s plan bring peace with the Empire is entirely reasonable. The risks of undertaking the mission go beyond the risk to the members of the strike team. If the Jedi abduct or assassinate the Sith Emperor it will trigger a second great galactic war – a war the republic military has been preparing for but may not be ready to begin. Even if Tol Braga succeeds in turning the Emperor to the Light, the wider Empire would be unlikely accept the commands of a Jedi Emperor, either dismissing the “redemption” as lies or mind control, or denouncing the ruler they are already becoming disillusioned with as a traitor.
His concerns about Jomar Chul’s vision are also valid. Even if the Hero of Tython is unwaveringly loyal to the Order and would never willingly draw on the Dark-Side of the Force, the Jedi Council should be aware that Jedi can be forced into falling under torture. The vision is an ill omen at the outset of an already poorly considered mission.
This gives me the impression that Jaric Kaedan’s role as the designated jerk is something which exists in-universe – that he has fallen into a dynamic with the rest of the Jedi Council where he feels he must voice the cynical and callous opinions because most of the time nobody else is willing to. If the points aren’t raised the quality of the Council’s discussions will suffer, the quality of the Council’s decisions will suffer. None of them particularly want to tell Bela Kiwiiks she might have welcomed a mole into the Order or tell Tol Braga his pet emperor redemption project is stupid. So long as Jaric Kaedan is always willing to be the bad cop then then the other members of the Council are free to play the good cop, or the mediator, or the supplier of wise proverbs.
Which is, moving further into headcanon, part of the reason why Kaedan is such a grumpy jerk. He knows he’s slipped into this trap and resents it. He shouldn’t have to always be the one bringing these things up. He shouldn’t have to worry that nobody else will if he’s not there. And the habit of imagining and voicing cynical takes, once established, is difficult to break.

Hello! I really love your works! I noticed your requests are open, so if I could request something, could I just get general dating headcanons with Revali, please? You don't have to, though. Have a nice day/night!
Revali Dating Headcanons
Word count: 596
Warnings: None that I've caught since they're headcanons, please tell me if I should add anything
Notes: Aww, thank you so much for the compliment! I loved writing this, and I feel like it's a bit short, but I hope you enjoy. I love writing Revali so much and enjoy to continue doing so :)
-
Revali. Our beloved champion. Oh, how he does not know how to date.
Of course, he’ll pretend he does. Honestly, the first barrier for him was actually telling you how he felt.
And boy oh boy, once you do that? It’s like the floodgates have just opened.
Revali’s a Rito of splendor, grace, and beauty. He tries his hardest in every way to show love and appreciation in ways that he thinks shows through.
(It’s not like he’s worried he’s gonna mess up- not at all!)
If you live in Rito Village, Revali’s going to try and spend time with you always. He’s at your side when you walk through the village, he’s spending the night in your hut while you cook dinner, he’s going for a walk with you when you need to stretch your legs.
He doesn’t let just anyone come and watch him practice at his beloved Flight Range… but sure, you can tag along if you want, he doesn’t mind. He definitely practices with more flair that day just because you’re watching.
If you don’t live in Rito Village, he’s always visiting. He’ll be gone for about two days and then bam- he’s suddenly back like he never left. He had this habit of perching in trees and scaring the living shit out of you when you walk by. He definitely enjoys it even when he insists you’re just jumpy.
He’s very self-conscious about everything, too. You’ll be cuddling and his mind will race the entire time- Am I doing this right? Are they comfortable? Am I messing up? Are they too hot? Cold, maybe? Should I move? You’d never know it from his attitude, but he… worries, you know?
Whatever you do in life, whether it’s research or running a shop, or taking care of children, Revali is your biggest supporter. He’ll tease you, sure- (“I’m bugging you? Surely you, in all your greatness, aren’t distracted by me. I understand, the view must be fabulous, but-” “Shut up, Revali.”)- but at the end of the day, he’s so proud of you. Especially if your job involves making things- he likes watching your hands bring something, anything, into fruition. It’s adorable.
He’s very protective, too. Especially with the rising monsters. Sure, he wouldn’t ever admit he’s worried about you, but… yeah. He’s worried. Revali can’t imagine a world without you in it, and he’ll do everything in his power to make sure you’re  safe and protected in his arms.
On a fluffier side, her me out- DATES. ON. MEDOH! Revali’s taken you up on there before and every process is nerve-wracking as you cling desperately to his back, but now you have to hold onto supplies too?? At least Revali brings the Divine Beast lower so you don’t have to fly as far.
And you have to admit when you get there… it’s damn romantic. Our dramatic bird knows how to set a vibe. The two of you will talk and laugh up there for hours, long after any food is gone, just enjoying the view and each other’s company. Soon, the sun begins to set, and it gets colder, and even though you’re probably wearing Snowquill armor, you wiggle your way up against Revali.
He complains that you’re heavy (he doesn’t mind and doesn’t mean it. At all.)
In the end, he isn’t the greatest at communication or feelings sometimes, but there are genuine moments. And you’re working on it. Revali is teasing and good and protective and would burn the world down for you. You can be sure of that.
-
There isn't anyone on a Revali taglist yet (I think) but hey tell me if you'd like to be added to that or an overall Breath of the Wild one! :)
(replies are from @lostglassguitars so it's not a random stranger I promise)

I know the timing might be wrong rn but I don’t mind if it’s getting posted at a later point when it feels more appropriate. I have a headcanon idea:
Emmet might be the big Joltik breeder but that doesn’t mean that Ingo doesn’t help where he can. Chandelure might not have flame body as her ability but I think she would still sometimes get close to the eggs to keep them warm. And Ingo himself would also often help feeding the Joltiks especially late hatchers or the weaker ones so they get as strong as the others.
In fact some of his knowledge about breeding helps him taking care of the Sneaslets. They might be a different Pokémon and have different needs but upon watching them he can tell what they need. Even if he doesn’t remember where he got this knowledge it’s extremely helpful in Hisui. At some point Ingo also might get some more memories from taking care of the Sneaslets realizing who taught him all that knowledge. And I’m sure Emmet is extremely proud of Ingo once he gets to know how he took care of newly hatched Pokémon.
I love this headcanon so much Anon!! The thought is really sweet, and Ingo really does admire how much Emmet cares for all of his Pokémon, and how he gives them so much love and attention to help them grow up to be the best they can be.
It would certainly rub off on him, and stick with him in Hisui when he’s tending to Lady Sneasler’s kits.
I actually hold the same headcanon, and I’ve written a segment hinting towards it in the upcoming chapter of Heart Full, Bowl Empty!!
————
“You’re never satisfied, are you?” Ingo huffed a laugh as the tiny kit leaned into his hand. The smallest one always seemed to be the most insatiable with anything, whether it be food or attention. But as the runt who was often left behind by her siblings in many aspects, Ingo was inclined to give her the extra attention.
…He remembered that (Emmet) often relented the (same)(way) with the small yellow (joltik), letting the runts (cling) to (his) white (coat) and hide, and sneak extra (batteries) to them. Ingo would tell (Emmet) he was spoiling the (tiny)(joltik), but the (otherwise-neglected) runts’ love for the (attention) was (irrefutable).
He remembered that the other often relented with the small yellow ones, letting the runts hide with the white, and sneak extras to them. Ingo would tell him it spoiled them, but the runts’ love for it was…
…Ingo was inclined to do the same.

for the ask game, ca you do the first question for kina?
Not many people talk about her so I don't really have a idea beyond just her sprite
(for this ask game)
Yes, we can! This leans on personal HCs a bit, so we will note - we are not 100% canon compliant. More specifically, we add claws back onto mantids and we tend to have bug size differences be slightly more pronounced rather than having everyone be People Sized. We'll run through.. notable features?
1. Describe your OC physically- what do they look like? What notable features do they have, or what’s your favorite part of their design?
Large mantis. Very large mantis, in fact. The pink tends to take second fiddle to size, since being a member just about the biggest species of mantis in the Ant Kingdom (Tenodera sinensis, or the Chinese Mantis), Kina's big enough for it to be notable, even if stunting from lack of food means she's a good bit smaller than an average mantis of her species, but the second thing a bug would notice would probably be the pink.
And she is pink. A salmon-y pink, but still... pink, which is a color that's not out of the range of what people expect, what with orchid mantises being a thing, but it's still notable simply because of the mantis it's attached to.
She's tall by bug standards and pretty damn well-built, she's got runner's muscle from spending her time darting across half the kingdom, but genetics mean that she tends towards more bulky muscle more than she does the sort of sleek "runner's physique" people usually associate with that. Translated to human looks, she'd have a mild version of the sort of "movie star six-pack" that gets seen as a Beauty Ideal, as her baseline is "underfed and mildly to moderately dehydrated while doing very physical work".
She's got fairly well-cared-for claws, along with a set of purple daggers she generally has sheathed on the insides of her raptorial claws in such a way that she can "flick" them out to be combar-ready at a moment's notice. Her bandanna is a gift from Maki back when they were just starting out as explorers, but the knife setup came later. Her primary eyes are purple, but she uses her simple eyes more most of the time. Squints enough that you can't really see the color most of the time. She's got a wide, wide assortment of scars and scratches on her shell, mostly from Explorer's Association jobs, but the specifics of those vary from fic to fic - our current most consistent one would be a series of grooves cut into the inner sides of her claws from when she was still getting the hang of flicking her daggers out of their sheathes.
In less words: Large, scarred, buff pink chinese mantis with daggers strapped to the insides of her claws and a bandanna tied around her neck, generally in some state of agitation or another.

Zach and American Girls Headcanon
Y’all forgive me, this is probably going to seem like such a cursed headcanon, but I do not mean it in any bad way! This is actually a headcanon I love for him.
But… here it is, I think Zach’s mother collected American Girl Dolls and their book series, and she passed her love for them on to Zach!
You can read the full headcanon below the cut!
I was an avid American Girl fan as a child. I have 9 dolls total, 7 of which are in the Historical Doll collection, and during the massive cleaning/revamp I’ve been doing in my room I have been planning a display location for my dolls with their books.
And of course the selfshipper in me thought of Zach…
Last summer @creativegenius22 and I were gushing over Zach and she mentioned that his swimsuit had a historical theme to it, which it obviously does, and since both of us enjoy history we naturally headcanoned that Zach himself just had to be a history lover too, lol.
So that, in combination with my American Girl display idea resulted in this….
My headcanon is that his mother became an avid collector of the dolls when they were still owned by the Pleasant Company and continued to grow her collection with each new release. She had a special room in their home where she displayed the dolls with their books. Each time a new doll, book, or doll’s outfit was released she bought them. If she had holiday or seasonal themed clothing for the dolls, she dressed them up whenever Christmas, their birthdays, summer, etc., rolled around.
Tumblr media
(Image and info on the dolls can be found via this link to this great doll blog for anyone interested)
At first Zach was annoyed by his mother’s insistence that he appreciate the dolls and read their books, but Zach reluctantly gave in to his mother. He grew to know every doll’s name and story, and once he’s learned their stories, he realized that their stories were not just “sissy girl stories.” They were actually filled with drama, humor, angst, and awesome historical facts.
Zach’s mother didn’t really allow him to play with the dolls, but he sometimes snuck into the “doll room” and took the dolls from their displays to reenact some of his favorite scenes from the books. As Zach grew older he stopped this, but he never forgot the dolls, and he secretly developed an appreciation for history because of his association with the dolls and their historical journeys.
So much so that he decided to embody his favorite dolls/characters: the turn of the century (1904-1907) best friends and adoptive sisters Samantha and Nellie through pieces in his wardrobe. His swimsuit (loosely) resembles Samatha’s bathing suit and his pajamas (closely) resemble Nellie’s nightwear.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And why were these two Zach’s favorites? Because they are my favorites he felt like he related to Samantha. She was upper class and was an orphan, although he was not an orphan he felt distant from his parents making him feel like something of an orphan. Nellie was also an orphan and he loved the idea of them both becoming sisters and finally feeling like they had a family by the end of their story: something he longed for from his busy parents.
As a side Headcanon, I also imagine this being a topic of discussion in my AU. Zach learns that Violet has a few of the dolls herself, including Nellie and Samantha, and he realizes they have yet another thing in common, so he admits his love of the dolls/books to her. And, knowing this, Violet would gift him one of the doll’s book series or a doll at some point.
So there is my Zach American Girl Headcanon! I know it is odd, but it makes me so happy!

You guys have no idea how strong Alois and Dominicus' relationship is. I didn't have an idea either until about 2 hours ago while eating.
Listen, Alois is very independent and self-sufficient. For the most part, he already has a solution in mind for any problem that might appear, and these aren't news. Ever since he was young, how his parent raised him made Alois genuinely confident in his skills. He'd approach every obstacle with pragmatic resilience, so he has rarely needed somebody else to look after him or take care of him. Alois isn't afraid to say 'I need help' either because he had an emotionally intelligent environment growing up.
Nevertheless, none of this prepared Alois for the events that would take place in Morocco. He came from a very sheltered background where emotional intelligence was affordable because the stress wasn't big on his family by having the means to support themselves and even indulge themselves economically, so he never had to witness people lashing out, fights over petty things, or people trying by all means to have the higher ground. When these things began to happen in his life, he was lucky enough to study abroad and avoid all that divorce drama. Of course, even if he had seen those things happening, nothing could have prepared him for the level of violence he was about to experience.
Among the group of students, Alois was the most affected by everything. Despite all the books he had read, all the languages he had learned, and all the stories he had written, Alois couldn't find words to give meaning to his feelings. Alois could not let it out, consuming him faster than anybody else.
That's when Dominicus jumped in.
Dominicus wasn't having a good time either, nothing of the sort. But being the eldest grandson of a big and loud Italian family, Dominicus was raised to endure. In his family, Dominicus had to partake in the care of his siblings and cousins and even split apart some uncles who drank too much wine at Nonna's birthday party. Some of his younger cousins would even call him dad. Dominicus had to ensure everyone was safe, sound, and happy. He was raised to endure and nurture. And he enjoyed that role.
When Dominicus saw Alois in such a level of despair, he immediately took him under his wings. Naturally, this was Dominicus' way of coping with his own horrors and terrors. Instead of focusing on the problems beating him down, he could focus on making someone else's life easier. During the war, under the psychological violence, helping Alois grounded Dominicus to turn back the engine that drove him through his life.
By supporting Alois, Dominicus couldn't feel that Morocco's war could erase his existence. He was still himself despite everything, which built such strength in his personality that he knew deep down that he would survive this and that Alois would, too, because he would guide him through and protect him.
Until they were both hand-tied, kneeling on the floor, watching Julia with a gun aimed at her head.
Dominicus has never felt so powerless in his life. However, he never let his eyes wander away from Alois. He couldn't say anything, but in his mind, he was begging Alois to close his eyes and avoid an image that would chase him for the rest of his life. Telepathy isn't a thing, and Dominicus shattered fully when they shot her. Alois' entire figure was covered with his lover's blood, and his eyes were still wide open, with uncontrollable tears streaming down his face.
Despite Dominicus' own fear of him or Alois being the next one, despite hurting from his friend's murder, and despite the pain of having failed Alois, Dominicus couldn't break. He remained by Alois' side.
Everybody else left, but Dominicus stayed while Alois held Julia and sobbed as if that could bring her back to life. He remained stoic by Alois´´ side, keeping a watch on him for about two or three hours. Alois didn't ease his grip at any moment, but Julia's body was cold and deserved a burying the military wouldn't provide. It became Dominicus' task to separate Alois from Julia's body.
Dominicus bore every insult, every scream, every punch, and every scrape that Alois did while trying to take Julia away from him. If that's what Alois needed, then he would give it to him. But Alois couldn't stay by a corpse for the rest of his life, and he had to tell him the least empathetic sentences for the sake of giving Julia a somewhat proper burial and making it through the next day.
No one could've prepared Dominicus to deal with something like this, but he did. He stayed up all night, dug the grave, bathed Alois, and let him sleep on his bed when the exhaustion made him pass out.
Alois woke up the next day, emotionally dissociated from the whole situation, and in a flat tone, he told Dominicus that he had no idea how he'd make it through but that he would as long as he stayed by his side. Dominicus had no other plan in mind; he wouldn't have done it differently.
When their practices in Morocco were over, Dominicus had to return to Italy, and Alois had to return to Germany. It was hard for both of them, especially for Alois, who was returning to divorced parents and financial struggles. However, Alois started his magazine with the main purpose of giving Dominicus a work visa. It was Alois' daily motivation. He knew that he could live without Dominicus, but not for long, that he would do even more terrible things than he had already done if Dominicus didn't return to his side.
Alois needed him and wanted him back. He worked relentlessly to comply with all the requirements for Dominicus' sponsorship. When he finally got that mail with the notice that Dominicus' visa was approved, Alois felt he had finally won against the British government and Morocco's war. It was that day that Alois stopped having daily nightmares about Julia's murder and that he felt that he could live like a normal person again.
Dominicus and Alois have bonded over various interests, not only trauma. They're inseparable, and the caregiver/dependant dynamic has evolved to be more of equals.
However! Depending on the context, Alois will tease Dominicus, calling him either Papà or Mamma.
And Dominicus will pretend he doesn't like it.

I don't know if you guys understand how funny it is that Kazuichi has 5X the Scary Dog Privilege, but each one is like a different breed of Scary Dog and its hella interesting
Like we got the obvious ones...
Nekomaru: The 'Big Dog, Big Heart' who everyone steers clear of but is actually a big lovable goofball. Like if golden retrievers and chocolate labs could be the size of a tibetan mastiff? That would be Nekomaru. Will only get scary if he actually feels like Kaz is in actual danger.
Gundham: The 'Looks Scary, Can be Scary, but a Softie' The doberman, rottie, pit bull or wolfdog of the group - intimidating af, acts aloof and cold in public but is a total sucker for animals and his boyfriends. Will only melt around trusted people, is independent but will run into battle for you. Very gentle, but pushy.
...And there's the one's who underestimate..
Hajime: The 'Fence Straddler' Not too intimidating, but can make certain individuals think twice. Like husky's or a sheepdog - you think they won't do much, are pleasers and like to be cool -but them they stand up rod straight and their lips twitch and you second guess that first impression. He's also the one that wrangles the others and keeps them all within eye and ear shot without making it seem obvious.
Fuyuhiko: The 'is aggressive af but still somehow gets underestimated' Scary Dog. Could rip you apart but actually won't cause he's got morals. But those can be shed like a rain slicker in a millisecond. He's that toy breed that can and will rip open your ankles to make you get to his eye level.
And then...there's you're just screwed.
Nagito: The 'too fluffy to appear scary but secretly the worst one' I'm talking about those dog breeds that become possessive of their owners to a high degree. I'm talking 'it's me or the dog. then it's the dog' Like Kaz knows Nagito is....Nagito but he doesn't see it as a bad thing so he doesn't understand why some of the FF and others act so skittish around him when Kaz or Hajime are around. This boy will weaponize his luck to ruin your life and smile in your face.
Izuru: The 'oh shit I don't think is actually a dog' dog. For a being that was genetically evolved not experience emotions, you'd be surprised what he decides is his is his and will keep it safe. You don't want to find out how far though.

Anyway, there is this "eldarya cannot produce food, so we have to steal... and it went unnoticed for centuries".
I have read that you do not have to explain how the magic works in your world in details- after all, we do not read novel books that explain how exactly works, say, radio or whatever. We take some things by faith, so explaining a complicated and new magical universe is not a must. However, I wonder:
what if soil of Eldarya was mostly barren, and only land(s) near The Crystal (or crystals in my story) were able to sustain crops annualy? Food would be sparse, but it would still explain why eldaryans survived all those years, why some lands are deserted, and why plunders went unnoticed (they serve as optional, supportive source of food, not main source).
Does it make sense?

Isabela is technically a registered biotic, though she lacks the combat proficiency necessary to have classed as an adept, vanguard, or sentinal (of the three, she would likely have been a sentinal, given her tech skills). Her biotics are a result of secondary exposure to element zero at the age of 14 (2168 CE (ie a year after L2 biotic implants were developed) - which is canonical, but never properly gets addressed in the mainline series, so it's easily missed and most people quite understandably assume only those classically trained in biotics is capable of them).
Since she also wasn't detected as even being biotic until she's 17 (2171 CE - again, this is canonical), she receives an L3 biotic implant as opposed to the L2s when the latter prove to be dangerous and so L3s were developed a year prior (2170 CE), which is later subsequently upgraded to an L5x by Cerberus in 2185 CE when they successfully rebuild and revive her (meaning that in AUs where that much doesn't happen, she remains an L3, and thus doesn't gain as much control as she does over her biotics themselves by ME3, at least not without wilfully undergoing the procedure for the upgrade herself).
Ignoring game mechanics so that it's possible to use prior to it being available in game, Izzy is only really capable of using her biotics in a Flare (bonus power learned from Aria in the ME3 Omega DLC - though until ME2/ME3 timeline, she has lacks any real finesse with it that she gains from the L5x implant and Aria's input), as well as minor things that come up when her biotics react to her emotions (think that conversation between Sara and Cora in Andromeda and Cora's biotics act up because she's frustrated and so her kicking a box has biotic energy behind it), so she'll end up with biotics flickering around her hands or entire body - which she uses to her advantage as an intimidation tactic as well (paragade with strong renegade tendencies - it's only because her galaxy changing decisions are more often paragon-aligned that she ends up more paragade than renegon in most cases, and even then she's often exceptionally close to being 50/50 through most of the overarching missions until the end which pushes her closer to 60/40 in favour of paragade).
Izzy definitely isn't capable of precision work with her biotics - she struggles even to use them to deliberately move things no matter their size, her attempts at barriers are as weak as wet tissue paper, etc. - and yet she still ends up with the weakness of human biotics where she has a higher metabolism and easily burns out much factor than a non-biotic operative would. As a result, she always carries a handful of high protein ration bars with her (mostly levo, though after bringing Garrus and Tali aboard, she starts carrying a couple dextro ones as well, for emergencies), but even that doesn't guarantee she won't end up burning herself out, or overcharging her amp and needing help getting back to the ship or even outright extraction if they're overwhelmed.
Most people don't assume Izzy is a biotic at all, thanks to her being in infiltration saboteur and engineer, and that she doesn't resort to them often unless overwhelmed in the field, at least prior to the Reaper Invasion, at which point she relies on them heavily when fighting reaper ground forces (further adding to her exhaustion during the war), and as that gives her an active advantage in combat, she likes to keep it that way as much as possible. So typically only those she brings out into the field on a regular basis enough to either witness her biotics, or that she's comfortable enough with to talk about them herself, ever actually realise, especially when she doesn't always seek to eat a biotic's rations (much to Chakwas's chagrin when it inevitably leads to Izzy burning herself out more frequently).

a seal of slowing
When the Pale King sealed Hallownest away from the rest of the world, I think that it wasn’t just that he ordered its gates, stations, and elevators locked to physically shut away his kingdom. I think he also placed a powerful Seal of Slowing over some parts of Hallownest, disconnecting the kingdom in time as well as space.
Some characters have wildly different relations to the timeline of the world than others. Hornet, Quirrel, Eternal Emilitia, the Midwife, Ogrim, and Ze’mer were all born before the fall of Hallownest. They are old enough to remember the Pale Kingdom’s glory; Quirrel, Ogrim, and Ze’mer were all certifiable adults during it because they had important jobs.
Elderbug, on the other hand, tells the Knight that Dirtmouth’s Stag Station has been locked since before the earliest memories of his childhood. He has only heard stories of Hallownest, the kingdom that fell before his birth. Relic Seeker Lemm looks at Hallownest with the eyes of an archaeologist, gleaning information about how the Pale King was viewed by his subjects in the same way as about how the Ancient Civilisation viewed the Void. (Of course, this is complicated by the fact that different species of bug might have different average lifespans.)
The level of decay in Hallownest’s environs also varies considerably. The Knight can batter their way through the great gate in the King’s Pass but will only blunt their nail trying the same thing with the gates of the City of Tears. As magicalballerinaprincess has pointed out, you can discover the broken remains of a tramway that once connected the Crystal Peak to the King’s Pass; the tramway between the Crossroads and the Resting Grounds and the line from Deepnest to the Kingdom’s edge are not only intact but operational.
This supports the idea that time has been flowing different speeds in different parts of Hallownest. Much more time has passed in Dirtmouth, where whole generations have lived and died and the kingdom beneath the town has moved from living memory to distant history, than in the Royal Waterways where Ogrim doesn’t know of the fates that have befallen his friends.
The Pale King presumably did this to improve the odds of being able to wait out the Infection until the death of the Radiance. Maybe after sealing the Radiance away inside the Hollow Knight and the Hollow Knight inside the Black Egg Temple, one more seal in a plan that involved many seals; maybe when it became clear that his plan had failed and he was desperately scrambling for another solution and acting to protect himself by shifting the White Palace into a dream.
This gives us an explanation for why certain areas were inside the Seal while others were not. The Crossroads – where the Radiance was – needed to be outside the Seal. Deepnest, Fog Canyon, the City of Tears, and the Ancient Basin – which housed the Dreamers and the tether leading to the White Palace – needed to be inside the Seal. Another important reason for having population centres like the City of Tears inside the Seal was that those areas were net importers of food and cutting the trade routes through the Crossroads impacted their ability to feed themselves.

Empyreans being fae by nature is actually so fucking interesting to me though, like...imagine if you were born a hollow vessel made to fuse with a god so that you can become one yourself, and pretty much any other Empyrean who doesn't submit to you is a potential rival who you may have to kill to ascend to full godhood. That would make for a really fucked up and weird person I think

Derek only has two raccoons who are both female but none of them turned out good, Derek just treats them better than his own children and believes they can do no wrong.
Ate his food? Well obviously that's their food now.
Scratched and bit him so he would have to go to the hospital for a rabies shot? Obviously they were just playing.
Destroyed all of mankind? OH WELL.
The raccoons are the only children he treats better than his own children and doesn't care if they burn down the house, they are spoiled little brats.

welcome back to another episode of keroro almost kills dororo: continuing pandemic edition
keroro would also be an antivaxxer, except he doesn't actually believe a word he's saying and is just trying to hide the fact that he's a big baby and doesnt want his shots
