a/n: umm so hi guys :^) i would like to apologise for my inactivity... college admission is not very fun and studying for it exhausts me to the point where i have no to time for anything else :( but i managed to write this :D initially, this was supposed to also include diluc and childe but right now i don’t have the time to complete them, so i decided to post xiao’s instead! let me know if this idea is worth revisiting and i hope you enjoy <3

i think xiao would have no problem with that, since he’d be aware of all the horrible things you have done as a criminal

the moment he finds you in his arms it’s game over

one look and he’s gone, memories of your past together slowly coming back to him

now he feels bad for you

now he doesn’t want to kill you

A masquerade ball was one of most unlikely places you’d find him. Although always so curious about human nature and their so-called events, Xiao usually preferred attending festivities like this one in his own head rather than in actuality. If you asked him if he liked to dance, his immediate response would be a plain no, but as he found himself growing more impatient by the minute, he could no longer sit around, waiting for his target to show up.

And so, surrounded by what seemed like a sea of people, hiding behind beautiful masks and veils, Xiao allowed himself to be led by his partner onto the dance floor, thankful for their direct approach. The close proximity would usually make him uncomfortable, but at the time he couldn’t allow himself to be distracted by such mere feelings as comfort. He had to find you. This was his last chance. His last chance to save his people and redeem himself. With his eyes anywhere but towards the front, he continued searching for you.

A slow melody could be heard, the people dancing moving in harmony with the almost sorrowful tune. It was as if they were perfect puppets, their each move carefully coordinated to match each note. He would be lying if he said he didn’t feel perhaps a tad bit intimidated. Luckily, his partner appeared to be more capable, gently manoeuvring Xiao around to keep up with the rest.

“I never expected you to be such a good dancer,” a heave got away from his lips as he heard your voice, nearly stepping on your feet. He didn’t even realise there was a switch, “it’s been a while since we’ve been like this, hasn’t it?”

Although not meant to sting, those words touched his very soul. Looking into your eyes, or rather your mask, Xiao found himself traversing through childhood memories, long forgotten after years of pain and hardship.

He found himself under millions of bright stars acting as his witnesses, pouring his heart out in front of you. He told you he loved you, to which he yet again found himself in your arms, barely what would be considered dancing to the sweet melody you hummed. Unbeknownst to him, it would be his last moment of peace. His last moment with you. It was the night before your departure to who knows where your family was sending you. It was then he remembered your hold on his chest, your tear stained face, your mournful eyes.

It hurt him.

It hurt him dearly to let you go, it hurt him to see the person you’ve become. With a shaky breath, he uttered one word:

“Go.”

He scoffed as you squeezed his hand, silently showing him your thanks, leaving him alone in the middle of the dance floor. Pathetic. He’s done it again. He let you escape.

I just remembered a few little stories about when I played Pokémon Pearl for the first time when I was 9 and thought it would be fun to share with yall ^^

It was my first game, so I didn’t really know much about...anything. I practically used my starter through the whole game (Empoleon) and swept through most of the gyms with it. I also didn’t really grasp the concept of certain TM’s being unobtainable anywhere else, so I would often use them and then immediately have the Pokémon forget them once they leveled up and wanted to learn a new move.

When I first battled Palkia, I defeated it because I thought it was a boss battle and I didn’t know I could catch it (not that I had really caught many Pokémon in the first place anyways)

When Cyrus gave me the Master Ball, I used it on a Girafarig outside of Lake Valor because I didn’t know what it was and didn’t know that I couldn’t get more of them. Later when I realized I couldn’t get more, I went and released the Girafarig in hopes of getting the Master Ball back. I didn’t.

Once the lake spirits were back in their caves, I must have gone to Azelf’s cave at one point and beat it. And legendaries that you defeat come back after you beat the league for another chance to catch it. But I guess I went and killed it again because every time since then it has not come back. I managed to catch the other two lake spirits (and Palkia too once I revisited the Spear Pillar and saw it there to my surprise) but Azelf was never able to be caught.

I needed Azelf for the Pokédex, though, so I put up an offer on the GTS asking for an Azelf in exchange for a Dragonair I found. Someone actually took the offer and sent me an Azelf named “MR TALENT”, who I still have to this day.

Anyways that’s my cringe-worthy story from my first time playing Pokémon xD For new fans: please don’t be like 9 year old me; learn from my mistakes.

Yall better buckle up, this is basically the history of me and Pokemon istg

In order, here are the games I’ve played: Platinum, X, Alpha Sapphire, Sun, Let’s Go Eevee, Shield and Brilliant Diamond.

As you can see, I totally skipped the GB/GBA generation, even if we did have an advance spinning about at home. I was probably a bit too young then for Pokemon anyways, so the DS was my first proper taste of Pokemon. I spent a lot of time in Platinum, even if my brother completed the story for me. Much nostalgia.

Noticeably, I haven’t played any Gen 2 (original or remakes) or Gen 5, because I was a dumb kid and never got them/borrowed my brother’s copies of them. I am highkey considering playing them someday though, since they’re both highly regarded.

How do I write for Silver or N since I haven’t played their games? I’ve absorbed a lot of N through other people, breakdowns, and his anime appearances, and for Silver, I basically write him as Felix from fire emblem because they are THE SAME GUY basically and his generations episode is so good.

Why do I write for them? 12 y/o me stumbled on fanart and fanfic of them on Deviantart and I’ve never been the same.

X was what really got me into Pokemon. I remember giving money to my older cousin to buy me a 2DS and X with an employee discount at the shop he worked at. I loved it so much! Even if my team was shit, I had such a good time. I had such a huge crush on Calem, but obviously my tastes have matured and I’m a full on Sycamore stan now.

I wanna say I got Alpha Sapphire in 2015, and then I think I got stuck in Meteor Falls looking for the Dreamboat during the delta episode, and I didn’t finish it until either 2018/2019, and it was so good that I immediately replayed it. Steven might be my favourite Pokemon character, I swear it was love at first sight. Ugh, I wanna play it again, and I wanna give Steven a kiss.

SU/MO were the first Pokemon games I was actively hyped for. I watched every trailer, and I was big into a lot of Poketubers at the time (specifically Birdkeeper Toby). I got Sun for Christmas 2016, and played it for an hour and didn’t pick it up until 2019.

Some context is, my eyesight is extremely bad, reading small font is super hard for me and doing it for a long time really hurts. It’s a progressive condition, so I was able to fairly easily play Pokemon on the DS/3DS when I was a kid, but by that time, my sight could not handle Sun’s tiny text.

When I got my switch I got it with Let’s go Eeevee, and it was just wholesome and fun. I did not like the Go-style catching mechanic BUT my Eeevee was a dote and it was nice to see where it all started. Also I could play it on the TV, with the switch’s zoom if I needed, so it was much nicer on my peepers

Luckily, in 2019, I got my hands on a 3DS XL and with a 4x magnifying glass, I finally was able to play Sun and I loved it. First off, it has Togedemaru, the best Pokémon, and secondly the region is so FUCKING GORGEOUS! And I’m a 2015 tumblr bitch, I love galaxy/space shit (another reason why I love ORAS actually). And the characters were just great (stan Lillie for clear skin) and obviously we got big bug daddy Guzma who I owe most of my notes too lol

So yeah I got Shield at the end of that year, loved it (specifically Leon, I am so horny for that man oml). I didn’t care about the national dex really, but yeah that game has some story problems, and the areas aren’t super flushed out. I love the Isle of Armour and the Crown tundra though. I will also protect all the chatacters with my life.

Most recently I played Brilliant Diamond, and by most recently I mean literally today. I love revisiting Sinnoh but this game… is a choice…

alright first lets throw it back to preschool! my fav childhood toys were my baby doll (snookums) and a plush pig that my grandma got me that i just called ‘pig’ ...i watched the babe movies countless times, and piglet? that anxious little guy GETS ME bro. when my preschool did a nativity play and my class got to choose an animal to be in baby jesus’ manger, my mother recalls me saying that i would be a pig because jewish people (jesus christ) wouldnt eat me. she has no idea how or when i learned about kosher foods. ironically despite my namesake i was too afraid of the movie charlotte’s web to watch it more than once because the scary farmer tries to kill wilbur for being small and the pretty spider dies.

sugar creek gang

OKAY this is a book series from the 40s-70s about a group of christian little boys in indiana who went on adventures in the woods and helped people. my dad read a LOT of chapter books to me as bedtime stories when i was little (see also the mandie series, nancy drew and the hardy boys, little house on the prairie) but sugar creek gang is one that really hit. i read all 36 books with dad and at least once again on my own. there was a series of 4 or 5 movies in the early 2000s when i was the Perfect age to have a crush on most if not all of them. this might be too much detail but i have to tell you about these boys. we WILL not be revisiting the heavy religious themes.

the narrator is bill who is Good and Kind and wants to be a doctor when he grows up. his best friend is a chubby boy nicknamed poetry because he memorizes and quotes poems, he is the Detective of the group. BIG JIM is the leader of the group who is supposed to be like, 14, which was very cool and hot, to me. and yes there is a little jim, who is the baby of the group. then there is CIRCUS who is known for his climbing and acrobatics, and his FIVE SISTERS AND BEAUTIFUL SINGING VOICE. dreamboy. i’m almost done listing boys, i promise. a boy called dragonfly who is allergic to everything and hella superstitious. later in the series a new boy named tom moves to town and tom has an older brother bob who is NOT A CHRISTIAN (bully)

tangentially, the buttercream gang, a movie from 1992 that was almost definitely made by some christians who grew up reading the sugar creek gang series which i’m guessing on vibes alone. will spare you Good Boy details but scott is in love with his best friend pete who moves to chicago and falls in with a bad crowd and scott just refuses to stop LOVING HIM. very gay christian film in retrospect.

peter pan

so i know liking disney’s peter pan isnt niche, but it was the way i liked it. tinker bell stan from day one, i watched all of those disney fairies movies, even the ones that came out after i was definitely not intended audience. there was an online pixie hollow game where you could design your own fairies and play mini games where you gathered dew drops or something. had a HUGE CRUSH on jeremy sumpter in peter pan (2003) then i got really darkly obsessed with the idea of growing up when i was 12 or 13, and everything peter pan was deeply My Shit for my entire adolescence. i read the original book and every other twisted version of the story i could find and seriously freaked myself out about wasting my youth.

you’ve probably heard of jenny han now, or at least the netflix adaptations for to all the boys i’ve loved before and the sequel ps i still love you (always and forever, lara jean, coming soon?) but before she wrote THOSE, she wrote my first ever Favorite Book, about annemarie “shug” wilcox, a girl in the summer before starting middle school. it is SO engraved on my heart i cannot explain. i felt so incredibly understood and cant even tell you how many times i read it. thinking about all of the ways it made me feel SEEN is actually making me very tender so i’m gonna go on.

the summer series

on the subject of jenny han, since she was now my Favorite author, when she came out with the summer i turned pretty in 2009, i was ALL IN. it’s not summer without you, and we’ll always have summer were published the next two years. a coming of age series about a girl isabel “belly” conklin who stays at her mother’s best friend's house at the beach in the summers. i really could talk about it forever yall. i actually dont know how to be succinct about it. i will try. her mom’s friend has TWO BOYS. one brother, jeremiah, is the golden boy and her best friend who is in love with her! the older one CONRAD is her childhood crush who's just sort of around while belly is firmly getting over her childish feelings and going out and experiencing teen beach life with jeremiah for the first time and figuring out who she is and wants to be! by the end of the summer he admits he feels differently about her (hence belly internalizing this as The Summer I Turned Pretty) and they get together. this is already too much so i will just say that the next two books deal with a PROFOUND LOSS and the selfishness of grief and the SELFLESSNESS OF CONRAD and i will absolutely lose my shit if netflix picks it up for a second jenny han series adaptation.

pappyland

this was a kids show in the 90′s that features a character named Pappy Drew-It, an artist dressed like a 49er who lives in a magic cabin in pappyland. there’s tons of characters and music and life lessons but the meat of every episode is a detailed drawing how-to (pappy is actually a cartoonist, michael cariglio) and i have a hard back cover sketch book from my grandpa that i FILLED with drawings that pappy and DOODLEBUG taught me to do. there is a running gag that pappy always breaks his crayons.

boy meets world

i KNOW this is beloved by many but i’m counting it because i’m simply too young to have such an obsession with it! the show ran from 1992-2000. i was born in 1996, but reruns on the disney channel and abc family cemented it as one of my favorite shows. cory and shawn, closer than brothers, shameless homoromantics, shawn is cory’s first wife!!!!! truly showed me what a best friend can and should be!!!!!! the great love of your life!!!!! TOPANGA, the og weird feminist girl who said stop shaving your legs and start speaking your mind, ladies! the characters are so richly developed that they are real people to my heart. YES every character on this show is in their late 30s-early 40s and YES i feel like we grew up together. in season one they’re in the 6th grade and we follow them all the way to COLLEGE. countless poignant life lessons, often literally dictated by the wise and hilarious MR. FEENY, cory’s next door neighbor and somehow one of his teachers for YEARS. my love was only solidified by the 2014 girl meets world reboot, centered on cory and topanga’s daughter and her best friend. (which was literally cancelled because disney didn’t want to transition from a kids show to a teen show, something essential to the original. also because that teen show would have had CANON LESBIANS. extremely shameful move in 2017!) boy meets world lives rent free in my heart and i will never evict it!!!!!!!

i consulted my mother when i got stumped for more and she reminded me that i had obsessions with the impressionist art period and babies and ANYTHING fairies or pixies, and i was way too young when my love of the canadian teen after school special degrassi began. she also said bob ross, which i was hesitant to include because he’s been super ~trendy in recent years, but to be fair (To Be Faaairrr) she’s right! i don’t think people really watched the joy of painting as much as i have throughout my life. best sick day show of all time.

lastly i could honestly list anna herself as a niche interest, my mom actually metioned that ive always hyperfixated on my girl friends (gay) but i’ll just note that YES friday night lights, YES barry lyga novels. love to share so many things with you, niche or not, they’re niche in Our Mind.

#with the baby obsession came an obsession with adoption #my aunt and uncle adopted and when i learned that there were ORPHANS whew #i was in preschool judging people for getting pregnant when there were SO many babies without mommies #she had a good point!#also does being a niall girl in 2012 count

Did you have any new ships this year? Lol i stopped having new ships since 2013. Idk my romance radar kinda just. Died off as I grow older, thankfully. I still enjoy some pairings from time to time, but my heart is never into them? Not like I feel towards platonic ships or friendships--I literally go crazy and obsess over them lmao. I guess if we’re talking platonic pairs: Geralt and Dandelion. Merlin and Arthur, but that was kinda from 2019-2020 sooo- yeah. Platonic love ftw.

Top 5 kingdom hearts games? :0

oh heck this is going to be fun

Kingdom Hearts is flawed. It’s much more childish. It’s much more simple compared to others... but it’s still the best one to me. We can see Nomura already wanted to make it as convoluted as possible but he had a lot more liberties and THE best Disney world stories in the series, not to mention Kairi is great and Sora is great and Riku’s character arc is aaaaa and Donald and Goofy are integral part of the plot im love them ok

Birth By Sleep is a not-so-close second maybe but oof. OOF. I went there expecting the trio to be a copy of the destiny trio and i couldn’t be more wrong. Ventus and Aqua are great but GOD TERRA. TERRA. SONBOY. CHILD. I Cried A Lot During BbS. i still think the pacing is a little wonky, but it’s ok bc the overall plot is great;

Kingdom Hearts 3. Yall say whatever you want but i loved it a lot. While it has a LOT of flaws - namely once again the pacing esp in the Disney Movies that tried to follow the movie’s story ESPECIALLY ARENDELLE FUCK ARENDELLE - it IS a great finale for the Seeker of Darkness arc and has, in my opinion, some of the best songs in the entire franchise - looking at u Oscurità di Xehanort, Caribbean battle theme and Scala ad Caelum it would’ve been lower in the top 5 if it wasn’t for the DLC, playing as Roxas was hard through all the tears and FINALLY MY GIRL KAIRI GETS THE SPOTLIGHT AAAAAA

while I can’t really say gameplay wise just yet since i just watched the movie in FM, story wise 358/2 Days is heartbreakingly beautiful. The og Organization XIII is still the best group of villains in the series and really gives depht to most of them. Also Xion. XION. AAAAAAAAA,,,

...and ok fine I’m actually putting Kingdom Hearts 2 at the bottom of the top 5. While I do have problems with it’s pacing and some character motivations, esp when it comes to slaughter some members of the Organization it IS still a great game. Revisiting the worlds is fun, some are REALLY interesting and unique and atlantica isn’t that bad yall are just mean

also shoutout to CoM because i H A T E everything about the gameplay and the disney worlds and i still find sora at its lowest when it comes to likability the plot is very good. if you watch just the main story videos its great, but overall it’s a bore to go through :(

1)Okay so Against The Tide was such a hassle for me because I couldn't settle on one name and I resulted in a twt poll and asking my server of kpop friends for their opinions. Alternative titles were Quantum Immortality (from a theory and a Crywolf song), Through the Sea of Time (a pokemon mystery dungeon song, one of my faves), and Through the Eighth Sea (suggested to me by Alma. Bc the "Eighth Sea" is the sea of time. Get it? 8 ateez members, 1 sea to represent them all? Yeaaaaa-)

2) Okay so its so funny because it came before Wonderland even came out, but All Eyes On Me came as soon as I thought of the concept of an ot8 fic centered around Yeosang bc of him being shy and such. That's why there's a lot of cameras and depictions of Yeosang being especially excited at being watched, so I felt it fit perfectly

3) so I made that AtT playlist (didn't realize the mofo was 6 hours long, jfc that might be why nobody's commented on the songs yet), and I'll just say I listen to a lot of Babymetal and Crywolf when I write. Not just AtT, but in general. Babymetal obviously for the "fie's on her anime fight scene bullshit" and Crywolf for my emotionally challenging (aka fucking HEARTBREAKING) scenes or scenes in general that have a more muted, down to earth feel to them.

4) As far as Ateez goes, I always have an abundance of fun writing Seonghwa and Yunho, tbh. Night Shift has me spoiled and now I'm in love with writing Seonghwa as a sarcastic, slightly passive aggressive being who's honestly just a big softie for those he loves and Yunho...Yunho has a heart of gold and I adore him uwu

5) Jongho is probably the hardest to write for me because I don't want to typecast him as this nonchalant, emotionless smartass, yknow? I wanna give him depth other than "big strong maknae boi" but I feel I might have to do a bit better to write him truer to his actual personality

6) In All Eyes On Me, San and Yeosang's little cat and mouse game wasn't supposed to take over but I-and a lot of other people-enjoyed the dynamic of Yeosang building his confidence, all while San was getting exceedingly more hungry/sneaky. So definitely San so far.

Though Yunho is creeping up in AtT and yall will see more of that in the near future 👀

7) Reoccurring themes...at risk of sounding like a nut, the stories I put the most time and love into are ones like Against the Tide or for those who have read some of my BTS works, Still Standing. Fics that have intricate stories and characters feel real emotional, mental, and physical trials, but eventually they overcome. I do write these with supernatural, fantasy, and/or sci-fi twists bc i love those genres so much, but I just enjoy writing fics that make me and my readers go through the emotional motions.

8) I've honestly stayed away from hybrid fics for so long bc of how a lot of them sre linked to ABO fics that are written in very...high key problematic and exploitative manners, but thanks to Skunk San, I'm definitely gonna get back into writing hybrid fics. Or at least a oneshot. Idk man I'm giving him a tail. Bitches love tails. It's me, I'm bitches.

9) I want to get better at making people laugh with scenes without making it seem forced. I've gotten lucky enough to have some people tell me they've laughed from my works and some scenes, so I'm hoping to throw some more giggles in for everyone without forcing it and ruining a scene. Plus we need something to counter all this damn angst.

10) Imagery. Again, back on my anime bullshit, but I've had a lot of people, both close friends and readers, tell me through the years that they can visibly see some of the scenes so visually. From the fighting, to the love making, a lot of people have complimented me on my visuals and descriptive imagery so I'm kinda confident in it c:

11) I know its early, but I'd love to see Against the Tide illustrated. My dream has always been to have something I've written, whether a scene or just my characters, drawn out. Its a little easier since the boys (almost) all have their halloween stages for their demon forms and such. I wish I were a better artist tbh. I'd love to draw some scenes from future chapters I have in my head.

12) I'm gonna pull from my BTS side for this and say Still Standing. Its already based off of a show (sense8) and it would be so neat to see sense8 but with a superpower twist to it~

13) I'd probably cameo in any given fic as that one person in the bg that disses some antagonist to the main charas in passing just bc they're assholes and they aint shit.

14) Hmm...i had an old wrestling fic eons ago that was a hybrid fic. I'd love to revamp it and clean up the wild storyline and make it a kpop fic tbh. It had potential and it incorporated a lot of mythology and I used it as a way to show people about some mythos they may not have been familiar with but I got too ambitious and it went all over the place. I'd like to make it over now that I'm more focused and mature in following my plot.

15) I honestly don't have one off the top :o I never thought about remixing someone else's fic or anything like that.

16) I don't often write about things I'm not comfortable writing with, but I'll probably say my casually unnamed wrestling fic comes close since I was in a very bad headspace at the time and poured a lot of my trauma into the story. It's… graphic. And I probably won't feel comfortable writing that type of content so vividly anymore. So hooray growth?

17) I've never written an incubus fic to to completion, but @fantastic-bby makes me wanna try 👀

18) Honestly I adore the concept of sensates so much (from the show Sense8, and my BTS fic, Still Standing) and I'd love to revisit it but I'm not quite sure how to do it without making it too similar 😔

20) Hm..that's a hard one because I like to branch out to a lot of genres so it depends on what I'm trying to describe. But since I have to choose, I'll say Against the Tide, since I'm pouring a lot of love and care into this and I intend on showing you all full spectrum of what I can do with it.

I don't really understand why everyone is waiting for a sonic adventure sequel. The adventure series has ended years ago and it's perfectly normal for SEGA to prioritize new original games like Sonic Forces. I'd rather wait for a new fresh, creative game than a sequel they would have a huge chance of messing up (like they pretty much did with Sonic 06, but i still like the game tho). But what if they made a one (officially)? What would be a good new sonic adventure game for you? (i'm curious xp)

for the last time they didnt mess up with 06 !!!!!!!!!!! they didnt do anything wrong!!!!!!!1 it was just lots of events that couldnt be stopped inconveniencing the production and in the end they just didnt have the time and resources to flesh the game out; if they did have time and help they could’ve totally made this game revolutionary :(

what i hoped/theorized forces would be

why forces looks like an adventure game, but isnt an adventure game

what i want in a new sonic adventure game (doesnt need adventure in the title)

lemme just sum up why i think forces is lacking and what i thought it would be when the first trailer dropped

I thoguht we’d get a 3 story game again. where each character shows us a different perspective of the same story.

I thoguht sonic story was about sonic fighting the eggman empire and infinite, perhaps being trapped in infinites illusions and breaking out after noticing that things are VERY wrong when infinites clones of his friends start acting weird

the avatar is on their way to protect their city and about to give up until they see sonic and they decide to be a hero themselves to help others and therefore go on their own journey to confront infinite (back then i theorized that infinite was their childhood friend)

and classic story (as much as i hate it) would be about classic dimension warping and perhaps overhearing eggmans plan abt the ruby (bc like. he came with the ruby from mania but like. okay.) and through him being a lil spy we get to know more about the origin of infinite until he eventually joins with the main cast becuase a final story where all 3 fight eggman together was inevitable.

however story perspective is not necessary considering unleashed’s placement

ofc multiple gameplay styles and/or multiple playable characters are THE mandatory thing for an adventure game BUT forces gameplay didn’t have a very varying feel to it. the controls were a little tweaked for classic and avatar had the wispons, but essentially it was the same as sonic but with Gimmicks/Tweaks.

also the spirit of the game’s story didn’t have this strong adventure vibe. It preached the power of friendship, yet it was so….. hollow and empty. due to the avatar being a passive character their friendship with sonic was just so….. fake.

“power of friendship” was just hollow words in this game.

personally i also think the ost was lacking, theme of infinite is the most iconic song to come from it , and the only memorable song next to it was fist bump. which is sad (mainly bc it wasnt even the final boss theme)

also remixes and reuses arent a taboo in adventure games (sa2 did it too) but i think it’s different if character themes and maybe… one or two level themes are reused. there should be plenty more original content.

some ppl say crush40 is mandatory, but I don’t think so. the crush40 version of his world IS NOT the main theme for 06, and unleashed also didnt have c40 (jun did do the guitars tho)

i already debunked chao garden so like. not necessary

on the topic of original content i also want to say that the levels in forces were lacking variety. the environment was different, yea, but the way you get throguh the levels didnt really change much despite more 2d sections in eggman base levels and like. more spikes in urban areas and more slides and 3d in the “jungle” level. it wasnt even really a jungle it was jsut ruins… and green hill… AGAIN….. was not really anything special or new either

what i mean is that even when the optical stuff of the levels is different there was zero change of atmosphere or feel. no change in stradegy to get through. it was all just……. the same.

sonic forces was…………..boring.

there i said it. it was boring.

the most exciting part was the customization and i bet kids loved it. ppl who dont know much about game design and just are in to pass time and have some fun probably loved this game. but like. the game doesnt entertain anymore after its beat for the first time. replaying is a real drag, the fun was literally just…. in the story and getting enough customize stuff to make ur dream avatar.

if anyone feels different, as said, thats valid, but from a design point this is terrible.

WHAT I WANT IN A NEW SONIC (adventure) GAME

i do have a game concept for a silver game lying around (with gameplay, controls, story, levels and some dialogue) that would be an adventure-esque game but i cant leak that yet its too unfinished still

let’s start at the bare minimum: no ooc sonic anymore. writers take notes and be serious for once. sonic knows when its time to joke, and in case yall dont know the answer is NOT 24/7

also maybe more than just sonic playable OR have other characters be relevant beyond a bunch of jokes and random voice lines. (preferably both)

the story should be engaging and have a deeper meaning and a strong vibe for justice and/or freedom; the characters have to undergo development and learn from their mistakes. also the story CAN be dark/more serious while still being suitable for children.

we need a minimum of ONE plot twist.

gameplay styles should be varied and not just sonic, and sonic but with a gun

there NEEDS to be some kind of open world/exploration element in the game. be it a hug world or ingrained in the levels themselves. (things can be open world and still linear just saying)

iconic music!!! vocal theme!!! character themes should be representing the characters personality again!!!!11

story perspectives arent mandatory, but definitely a plus!!!!

minor puzzles in the levels please…. make it challenging to get through !!!1

10. what is something your players do that makes your job easier or livens up the table in a way that you appreciate from the gm seat?

any time y'all rp amongst yourselves, omg it's so good. please, yes, have a private pc-pc conversation so i can sit here for 10 minutes and drink my tea. also any assistance during combat is a huge help. those are the two main things i think!

12. npc you wish the pc’s had spent more time with/gotten to know better?

npc that i know a lot about and miss desperately: tova. npc that i know less about but think is cool: daro. npc that i know very little about but is the coolest person I've ever rp'ed, probably: cover. honorable mentions of npcs i love but have no good reason to be in the game regularly lmao: cenora, dark, entropy, istor, lottie.

14. place you wish the pc’s had spent more time in or a plot hook they didn’t follow?

they weren't designed to be places you'd spend a lot of time in when they came up in game, but porthcawl (pirate city) and thar tharum (capital of the other country) are cool places i hope y'all can revisit. especially thar tharum! as far as plot hooks go, i honestly don't feel like i put down much that doesn't get picked up. the only thing i can think of is, like, working as a spy of sorts for the emperor. but it's fine that you didn't do that lol.

19. is there any major plot detail you would go back and change from a game you’ve run?

i don't know that i would change this, necessarily, and if i did, I'm not sure in what way. but the whole arc where the party snuck into a foreign country for a ritual to remove a curse, then had to flee from pirates on the way back, and then z'ress died, and then aal left, was rough. and it was supposed to be rough, but it crossed over into not-fun kind of rough, i think. i feel like i learned a lot from that arc in terms of pacing, tone, theme, etc, and narratively, i still think it was compelling and important and made sense for the story. but it definitely was a depressing slog and i still don't know that i know how, or when, or if, depressing slogs should be handled. still learning, i suppose.

27. have you ever had a big dm goof (forgetting to give information, giving too much at the wrong time, etc.)? how did it turn out?

i think mostly, my goofs aren't really...noticed? like, if i tell yall too much or too little, you don't necessarily know that I've done that. also, if i tell you too little, i just retcon it later lol. i can think of a thousand little goofs (remember that session that took place in a swamp but i forgot to tell you it was a swamp until the next session? remember the time i fully called ingot by his brother's name when lucien hadn't even been named in-game yet lmao?) but nothing that affected the game in a huge way.
