Wednesday = Emily day!

I had a good time with my support worker 😄. We finished watching Mean Girls from last week. And watched the start of Heathers (again!! I have watched it at least 6 times since last Wednesday!!!). I told Mum that and she said she is not surprised. 🤣

We also played cards - blackjack again. With Mum too as usual. That is fun! I love to win 😄😂.

I am feeling very happy. And it is rain now, so not feel as hot!! And I can smell the rain which I love.

And sister brought second snack to me and I got to say hi and see her new hoop earrings! She looks very beautiful as always ❤️. She booped my nose 😆😁!

Fixation on Heathers and Mean Girls The Musical and Barrett Wilbert Weed still going strong. I ordered the Heathers original film DVD. Mum wants to watch it too, I say we can watch together, she say maybe downstairs when I get my special chair! (With fingers crossed that it is good for me).

I also bought and watched the Mean Girls original film (from 2004). I have seen it before but only once or twice a few years ago. It was cool to remember how funny it is! I also think I understand the characters and the "message" better now - that is partly because of the musical helping me understand with the songs and music.

I feel really proud about having bedroom door open so much and letting a bit more of the outside world and other people in. I think it is good for me to be around people and have positive interactions.

Every time I see Emily or another person, I feel slightly more relaxed.

It all makes me feel smiley. 😊😁😄!

Steve wasn’t sure how much time had passed. Probably a good amount of it, based on how his body felt when he crawled out from under the bed. He waited until Eddie had wiggled out as well before moving to flop on to the bed with a satisfied groan.

“We gotta brush our teeth,” Eddie said suddenly.

“Man, fuck that. C’mere. Cuddle me.”

Promptly, he found himself grunting when Eddie flopped on top of him. He didn’t complain, just wrapped his arms and legs around his favorite hooligan before nuzzling into his neck.

“Night,” Steve said simply.

“Night,” Eddie replied.

He was almost asleep. “You make a good blanket.”

“Yeah?”

“Yeah. ‘M warm.”

This Wednesday it's time for "weeds" of the fungal variety - that is, some mushrooms growing where they don't belong! These very bizarre mushrooms are Clathrus archeri, commonly known as devil's fingers or octopus stinkhorn. They're often redder in color than these, which were somewhat washed out by rain. Like all stinkhorns, they smell terrible, in this case like rotting flesh. They like growing on rotting wood and love woodchips and mulch.

But why is devil's fingers a "weed" in this case? Because although C. archeri is native to southern Africa, Australia, and New Zealand, these were found growing in London! It's though that they were introduced to England during or slightly before the First World War. Although their preference for dead wood might make them seem innocuous (and indeed there are far worse invasives) they still compete with native stinkhorns and other fungi that would probably prefer not to be fighting over woodchips!

The edibility of devil's fingers isn't known, but it's unlikely anyone would want to try them anyway. Their rotting flesh smell is enough to make anyone feel ill. They're definitely in the "do not eat" category!
