just finished Nimona… DAMN does it feel good to watch such an openly queer movie man

I'll start with: even tho flint is famous for being in a region with like, 3 fire type lines in the dex, he is imo not the worst divergence from from his Elite 4 Type. I'd argue that crown goes to Agatha and Lance: Agatha has one common type among her pokemon in most gen 1, being the only elite 4 member where that's the case. It's not their ghost. It's poison. Lance mostly has flying types. And also, in every game except BW2, he has a pokemon that knows hyperbeam, and I'm very game except BW2, Stadium, and HGSS, ALL OF HIS POKEMON KNOW HYPERBEAM. And in let's go, he has Seadra on his team, cause Kingdra isn't available, but still that's neat! However this means he has 1 (one) actual dragon type on his team.

Lucius (Sinnoh) is kinda just Will (Johto) 2. They're both psychic trainers, and the only ones in their respective Elite 4's to fully stay On Type. Plus the design similarities.

Speaking of Will, according to Bulbapedia: "There is data in Pokémon Crystal for the gender of every Trainer class in the game, with the exception of Eusine. This is used to select which dialogue pool to sample from when randomly choosing the opponent's dialogue. Interestingly, Will is one of two male characters to be identified as female in this array. The other is Bugsy."

I have been trying to find anything about this (there is no citation or clear info on how this worked) but I have trouble thinking it was faked bc sure, Bugsy, notably androgynous okay. But Will????? Just Some Guy??? (Though there is a... Theory? Idk how widespread. That Lorelei like. Transitioned into Will. Bc of their similarities. Which sure. Why not)

Also shout out genderless icon Eucine I guess.

also not elite 4 but there's no flying type TMs in gen 2 so Falkner has to give you mud-slap. He also has the Lowest Level Gym Pokemon Of Any Gym Leader Period. This poor man.

finally: in Alder's trivia, it says "According to "Pokémon Dream" magazine, Alder was originally going to have a more "Christ-like" design.[citation needed]"

If I was going to say Bloodborne was about one thing (which it's not), that one thing would be exploitation.

It's about the exploitation of women, of men, of the working class, of the sick and disabled, of colonies, of history and the past, of love, of life, of dubious gifts given by the gods. All the name of knowledge, power, and evolution.

Pretty much every story thread in the game touches on either exploitation directly, or on the brutally violent cycle of beasts and hunts and blood ministration that keeps Yharnam's common folk paranoid and in line. The whole game is a running commentary on oppression and exploitation, from both the perspectives of the oppressed and the oppressors!

I could probably write a dissertation on looking at the game through this lens and picking apart what it has to say if I had more time and energy. I love how much Bloodborne is in dialogue with the racist and imperialist attitudes found in the Lovecraft and Victorian culture that inspired it, and how it examines and refutes those attitudes, as well as what it has to say on more modern forms of exploitation and what it means to live in the imperial core.

queer armys could literally just be like “as a queer person many of the themes and symbols bts use prominently in their art feel very familiar, personal and comforting” and would still get jumped by cishets/bootlicking lgbt armys calling them freaks. Oh wait that literally does happen

#literally no one is saying 'wow this photoshoot 100% means jm is bisexual and nonbinary without a doubt'#bts continually make deliberate choices to use specific themes symbols colors imagery etc that are strongly tied to lgbt history #and common queer experiences #no one is 'assuming' anyones sexuality or gender lmao we are recognizing historically QUEER signals and interpreting them #through the lens of our own lived and shared experiences as members of the lgbt community #you know like how you might nonverbally communicate with other queer individuals to establish a base level of solidarity and safety #in a potentially unsafe or uncomfortable environment #it makes me so sad that ppl interpreting 'ambiguous' imagery/motifs/symbolism as queer produces such a vile and hateful response #especially from ppl who are supposed to be part of your community your SAFE SPACE to engage in discussions of queer issues and topics #they love to bring up 'well you all tried to change jm's pronouns remember?!?!?' when that was literally Two people #who literally every other trans army also condemned and disagreed with. that is not the airtight argument you think it is #and it has nothing to do with queer interpretations of bts' personal artistic choices #this makes me so upset i just hope queer armys never stop talking about the comfort that bts bring us through their art #aeron.txt

My laptop was fighting for their life while I was drawing these ):

Starting off this year with a redo of pride battle pets. I'm also challenging myself by using only the colors associated with the palette so only darker and lighter versions of the color, except for teeth which will be the same with all the recolors. I'm not sure what story I can pair with these dragons on how you find them but I want to say that these become available during pride and can by traded on the auction house. They're going to be rare and hard to collect as not to make it too easy to find on the auction house but that might change as I go along.

Edit: Just added some more art now as well as updated the original.

Edit: Finished! still want to write up a story for them but I'll get there eventually. Let me know which one is your favorite!

I try not to contribute to the Lily Orchard hate train given how much of it comes from “dogpiling trans women with opinions” but this is just baffling to see if you only know of her as a youtube critic.

'main set up is weirdly grim for a silly show' i mean yeah. the point is that it’s not your typical ‘Meshi' manga, where the creation and consumption of the food serves as a vehicle for the shows deeper themes and worldbuilding. also i know lily has a soft spot for that WoW elf, but elf torture?? does she not know what a tsukkomi/straight man archetype is? hello. It’s so dark in here.

Optimus is absolutely shredding the guitar on Trans Siberian orchestra songs. How did Optimus find a guitar his size and was able to learn all of these songs? He is not telling anyone... except Buddy. They supplied the young Prime with a secret stash of Rock and Metal Christmas themed songs.

"Wow Boss Boy where did you learn that!?"--Bumblebee

Flashback to Prime sneaking out with Buddy to practice his guitar in an old factory by the docks.

"Ummm... Natural talent?"--Optimus

Ratchet and Prowl are for the supervision and stories. They both need to supervise everyone at all times. Ratchet refuses to get into the oil nog despite Buddy assuring him that they have been keeping an eye on the drinks. If something does happen, Ratchet at least wants to remember what happened. Prowl has only a little. He later participates in a game of Twisters with Buddy.

Bumblebee, Bulkhead, and Sari are singing and playing all sorts of games. From an intense game of Twisters to Christmas themed games. Bee and Bulkhead try to get into the presents, but Buddy and Sari have to stop them.

"HOW COULD YOU?!"--Bulkhead

"I DID WHAT HAD TO BULK! YOU WOULD HAVE DONE THE SAME THING!"--Bumblebee

"THAT'S IT! I'M TAKING BUDDY WITH ME!"--Bulkhead

The day ended with a giant sleepover near the tree watching the snow gently fall onto the window of the plant.

There’s a read-more on this post because it turns entirely on an excerpt that is a huge spoiler for the final portions of both Dune the novel and Dune: Part 2 the movie.

Part of the reason Dune has meant so much to me ever since I first read it is, like… OK, here’s a passage from very late in the book (page 445 in the Berkley paperback).

In context: Paul has literally just awakened from a near-death trance caused by ingesting the Water of Life. His mother, Jessica, has just verified this fact, and its significance — her child is the prophesied Kwisatz Haderach, and possesses psychic ability beyond any other human being.

"What happened?" Chani demanded.

Jessica shook her head.

Paul said: "There is in each of us an ancient force that takes and ancient force that gives. A man finds little difficulty facing that place within himself where the taking force dwells, but it's almost impossible for him to see into the giving force without changing into something other than man. For a woman, the situation is reversed."

Jessica looked up, found Chani was staring at her while listening to Paul.

"Do you understand me, Mother?" Paul asked.

She could only nod.

"These things are so ancient within us," Paul said, "that they're ground into each separate cell of our bodies. We're shaped by such forces. You can say to yourself, 'Yes, I see how such a thing may be.' But when you look inward and confront the raw force of your own life unshielded, you see your peril. You see that this could overwhelm you. The greatest peril to the Giver is the force that takes. The greatest peril to the Taker is the force that gives. It's as easy to be overwhelmed by giving as by taking."

"And you, my son," Jessica asked, "are you one who gives or one who takes?"

"I'm at the fulcrum," he said. "I cannot give without taking and I cannot take without . . ." He broke off, looking to the wall at his right.

OK let’s shift gears real quick and I’m gonna describe this image rather than make it: you know that Gundam meme where the viewer is going “wow cool robot” as said robot shoots the actual themes of the anime over their head? Now imagine that but I am the reader and Frank Herbert is the, uh, giant robot.

me: Paul Atreides was supposed to be one gender but was born another, and people are hopping mad about it. It is repeatedly noted that he is able to do things that people of his (assumed by others) gender cannot. Within the context of his society, he is neither a “normal” man nor a “normal” woman, but possesses abilities belonging to both. His ability to fuse these two genders into one unique thing, specific to him, is crucial to his final rise to power. Muad’Dib… non-binary icon?

…like, I’m mostly serious here — it is certainly not a canonical reading, just a personal, idiosyncratic reaction to the text — but the feeling that Paul was, at a minimum, atypical for his assigned gender meant a lot to me when I first read these books. I couldn’t articulate at the time what fascinated me about passages like this, but they captivated me in the same way as other texts where the protagonist defied their assigned gender. They resonated with me on a level it took me years to understand. (Things began to make more sense when I realized I was trans.)

Anyway. Paul Muad-Dib Atreides’s gender identity is ‘Kwisatz Haderach’
