Hi… what do you think about people hating on naruto and saying that sasuke deserves better than naruto and that he doesn't love sasuke as deeply as sasuke does. And the way he talks in ch 698 like he doesn't want to come out. And he marries the first girl who chases after him to hide his sexuality like a closet gay behavior and live up to society's expectations (following according to his mother's word). Sasuke looked soo sad in Gaiden because Naruto had rejected his love for him. Some SNS shippers say that's why they hate Naruto.
I highly doubt you’re talking about SNS shippers/fans though. I have a feeling I know exactly what kind of stans these are because they’ll take every opportunity to hate on Naruto (and other characters as well). And if such people do claim they are then I’m pretty sure that the ‘🍥’ joining the ‘🍅’ is just in the bio for show. As if to say, ‘I ship SNS, therefore my unsolicited and biased criticism against Naruto is extra valid :)’ when it’s really not, (and vice versa) but I‘ll spare you the rant.
Using secondary source material (anything ’Boruto’) in order to invalidate main source material (’Naruto’ Manga) to then try and rationalize secondary source material-outcomes (the sequel) with assumptions to fill the gap in between these two (blank period) when it’s completely void of all previous logic in the first place, makes a well grounded argument in what way exactly?
In other words; why the hell would you look at the sequel and willing let that change your perspective as if it holds any merit to what we’ve already come to learn?
There is nothing wrong with a good hypothesizing session. I know from experience it can be somewhat soothing to rationalize a way towards something unwanted. In this case, it’s the sequel. ‘Gaiden’ is interesting for its own reasons. It’s sort of like, trying to come up with an explanation that makes an outcome seem a little less… bad. Which becomes easier because Naruto and Sasuke’s misery is fully on display. In the case of these haters though, they make it worse and just blame a character for a company’s money-grabbing decision. To let that be the deciding factor for them that fuels these unhinged claims about him being a bootlicker that acts through hatred or whatever strange mumbo-jumbo they also come up with. But anytime someone tries to make an argument about ‘Naruto’ and uses “because in ‘Boruto’…” you can already cast it aside as invalid.
Connecting two unrelated idea’s doesn’t say nor prove anything. You can’t even disprove it either because the argument doesn’t make any sense.
So it’s also ironic to hate on Naruto using Ch. 698 as an excuse to say he ‘doesn’t love Sasuke as deeply as Sasuke does’, when it’s primarily Naruto trying to explain how deeply he loves Sasuke as best as he can lol. I’m not sure if I’m impressed by the creativity or just dumbfounded that someone can read Ch. 698 and then come to such an irrelevant conclusion as if it has anything to do with ‘coming out’. It’s like having a conversation with someone about a very specific type of bird when another person barges in to ask why they’re discussing how to create your own carrousel. And besides, Naruto may exaggerate his denial profusely when someone brings it up (which is by itself very telling), but he never was good at hiding how he felt about Sasuke or how far he’d go (literally the entire story), even threatening war on behalf of Sasuke, dragging Konoha in it, indicating revenge for Sasuke if he’s harmed when really it was just a matter of his own personal feelings. As… obviously Konoha couldn’t care less and in fact would most likely side against Naruto anyway. He’s already boldly shared his intimate thoughts with the entire world during the war though, didn’t he. He literally connected his Chakra with everyone and spilled his brainrot about him freely.
You can create your very own narrative towards the outcome that is ‘Boruto’ and make it as crazy as you want, but it will still be based on assumptions. In fact, go ahead and write that story if you must, they tried and failed with Hinata’s movie for a reason. I'm sure an SNS-fan can do a better job, in fact, they have.
The idea that Naruto would probably struggle to accept how he feels and what it means, could very well be true. It would definitely be conflicting with the role he is expected to play as Hokage and it’s also something I’m exploring in the story I’m writing. But, so would it be possible that Sasuke will struggle, because we haven’t forgotten that love caused him to experience the most horrible pain through betrayal, yes? Naruto does care about how he’s perceived and he is a people-pleaser that was on a journey to realize that there is a difference between the conditions he must meet in order to soothe his sense of feeling unworthy of love and the unconditional love Sasuke proved to hold for him, regardless of anything else. “Because I feel relieved just looking at you as it reminds me of the love I’ve lost”.
Acknowledging is one thing, accepting is a whole other and then taking the action-steps to pursue it freely would imo require another story which would’ve been a fitting follow-up after Ch. 699 if that was even possible in the first place for Kishimoto to do. But it’s not.
Stop for one second and think about the amount of value you put onto the money-grabbing shit-stain on the franchise that is ‘Boruto’ and whether you want that bullshit, no matter the label, to invalidate everything you’ve loved about it in the first place. Rationalizing something when the bridge toward it is missing completely and where the outcome isn’t followed by logic is just people inventing an explanation to justify their own unhappiness with something. Aka; their hatred for Naruto.

I always love movies or anime that depict family drama. When I saw Sasuke’s family, I truly could resonate with him. That’s a standard Asian family.
That’s why I have a soft spot for him. If you love your family so dearly that to lose them all in a blink would destroy someone’s mind. He didn’t become some lunatics but still walked on his path to avenge his family. That’s the achievement itself.
For someone like Sasuke, he literally had no other path. For justice, he needed to kill Itachi because he massacred the whole clan. For family, he needed to kill him for he killed their parents. However, killing this person would assure him to be forever alone.
In Chinese, it called, 義, similar to morality, but it’s much closer to justice. Something in between.
That’s why I couldn’t like Itachi. He was narcissistic. He considered him the solution of this dilemma. Regardless of the outcome, he should let his clan members decide, but he was just smart and wanted to save Konoha from civil wars and his family’s face and his brother?
So…other clan members weren’t important because they weren’t the main clan? (Hinata’s father seemed better right now. He just gave his cousins seals. No life threatening. Just a reminder of who you are.)
Itachi massacred the whole clan, including babies, children, teenagers, and someone’s parents just for saving other people in Konoha. That’s just evil. Every life matters. And a lot of people said he was right.
Are you kidding me?
Yeah, Just get rid of the people he didn’t like for a better outcome for humankind. That’s just wonderful.
After I saw this drawing, I could totally get why Susake had some strong reactions.
Tell me Itachi is right, if you still could.
Tumblr media
How could you still think he was sparing their pains? They didn’t need this pain in the first place!!A lot of his clan members didn’t know about the coup. Who gave him the right to decide?
He could just kill the people who were in charge of the coup, but no, for Uchiha was evil, he needed to kill them all. For saving the face, he needed to kill them.
Sound familiar, right? How was it different from old Asian Culture or Indian Culture, which allow the clan members to kill women conducting adultery just to save face?
And a lot of people shipped Uchiha Izumi and Itachi. I just couldn’t imagine. She would rather live, okay? There are a lot of men in the world. No matter how useless she might be, she could still find someone who loved her and she loved back.
The word, Love, could never erase Itachi’s sin. He could claim he loved his brother all along but what he had done during Massacre and after it were torture and nothing else. There were some fan fictions that Sasuke saved him from death or spared him because of learning the truth.
I don’t think that would work. Itachi had forced himself and his brother to the corner and there was absolute no turning back.
Sasuke is someone who has clear ideas in the right and wrong. Despite it’s Konoha’s order, but the person who carried out was his brother. His brother was the one who decided all Uchiha should die for the greater good.
Itachi had done the things that no humankind would allow. I truly pitied him because his life was nothing but a sigh. He had chosen the path to the darkness and only death could bring him peace. He couldn’t afford to think in other ways or he would need to face his mistakes. That’s painful and sad.

How did you first get into Naruto? And what drew you to Kabuto as your muse? 💚
@super-kame-love
Tumblr media
*sit down kiddies. It's going to be a long story that I'm going to try to keep it short.*
I was about 13 years old when Toonami started showing the anime Naruto and I remembered that back then. I wasn't really into the Naruto fandom or any fandom. (I also was a major Sonic the Hedgehog fan back then.)
And believe it or not, it was the chuunin exams and Orochimaru of all characters that brought my attention to the anime into watching it. The whole "predator and prey" mentality and the brutal tests from the show had me hooked. And what made me a complete fan?
The moment when Kisame Hoshigaki showed up with the promise of wanting to cut off Naruto's legs in order to make him easier to carry. And I only kept reading just so that I can see both Orochimaru and Kisame.
That... was when I was hooked to the show. Especially when Itachi scared the crap outta me too with his brutal beating of Sasuke who at the time we all thought that he was the gifted.
Was it hilarious that I never once had an anime crush or was ship obsessed when I was in the fandom? I just loved the show because of the fights! I also remembered crying a lot when Naruto and Sasuke are fighting each other at the end of the first season of Naruto because, "They were friends, I can't believe that it has come to this..."
As for the origins of this Kabuto blog and it's creation? You should thank @kimimarothechosenvessel for encouraging me to make it!
I was merely a invisible OC blog and a Manda rp blog in the past when I haven't really got the hang of roleplaying with people and it was when the fandom was thriving and full of people. And as awkward as it was, I always wanted to rp with an Orochimaru and Kabuto blog to go with my OC and Manda (as in the Orochimaru's snake summon). But unfortunately a lot of them were either very selective, private, or just outright rude to you or problematic rpers with bad reputations. And when I was trying to roleplay with a (now gone) very popular kabuto blog with a thread or even just an offer of friendship to get to know them.
Without even saying a word or at least a reason, they outright ignored and blocked me while rping with other people and even OCs just fine. Just like as if I didn't even exist to them.
That day, and after so many rejections and when I had a friend who was a Kabuto blog that decided to leave the fandom for personal reasons and I had the chance to say goodbye to them.
I decided to become my own Kabuto blog. One that I won't even have that worry of being rejected or even thinking of having to try to impress the "elites" when I can just have fun my own way.
So while I had my own worries about my portrayal, Kimimaro mun convinced me into making the blog and was quite patient with me at the start till I started to get the hang of it. And then before you know it? I had this blog for years and it's still going strong! Kabuto still captivates me as a character on his own and even now, I still am learning new things from him. Sure that I'm not a super popular blog nor aesthetically beautiful enough to gather attention or is my writing as perfect as a lot of peoples. But isn't the whole purpose of roleplaying is to have fun?
I guess I could say that perhaps I was a bit annoying in the past, even if I did learn from it and how hard roleplayers have nowadays. But even then, I wouldn't be as cruel enough as to ignore such requests and treat people like crap. Even then, tbh I still have my own troubles with this blog and even being canon roleplay blog doesn't spare you from the pain and drama that happens in the community and in private messaging from your former and current friends.
I guess you could say that I picked Kabuto... because I myself really wanted a friend who was a kabuto roleplayer so I decided to become one for everyone!

My Future Itachi x Naruto Series Part 1
Yup. I’m getting so hyped about using Code Geass’s geasses (whatever the plural form of geass is), using their abilities and incorporating them into the sharingans. Yup. Two new series in the future are starting to form in my head.
I still don’t know too much about the Minato one. Just that he’ll be getting a random Uchiha’s Sharingan transplanted into his eyes. You see, in a Wikipedia bio of the Namikaze clan (that was unfortunately deleted) it was very likely that, Madara, was the one who nearly wiped out the entire clan. And yeah… here’s what I came up with after watching all of (OG) Naruto thrice + Naruto Shippuden 4x.
Minato With Sharingan: Madara kills off the entire Namikaze clan. But, he can’t bring himself to kill Minato. (I don’t know why, just roll with it.) So, Madara spares the life of this infant baby and decides to take him under his wing and turn him into the perfect killing machine. When Minato is shown to be a prodigy/genius with unbelievable potential. Madara decides to transplant a Sharingan from a random Uchiha (the massacre obviously still hasn’t happened! So there are plenty of available Uchihas) and yeah, that’s about all I’ve got so far. I do know WHAT ability I want Minato’s Mangekyo Sharingan to have, though. He’s going to have Rolo’s geass. He’s going to be able to stop time for a few seconds and in a really wide area/range.
Naruto With Sharingan: I’m copying the how Naruto got the Sharingan off of an awesome What If Itachi Trained Naruto YouTube video. But, the rest of the story will be 100% original. So let’s get started. Okay, so Mikoto, is going to adopt Naruto when his parents die during his birth. She’s going to take him in and they’re all going to live together as a happy family. They do tell Naruto that he’s not actually their biological child and explain that his Mom was Mikoto’s best friend and when his parents died. They decided to take him in. They still love him just like if he was their own and everything. So yeah, Sasuke and Naruto have a really happy childhood. Until, the Uchiha massacre happens. But, in here… Itachi actually takes Naruto with him and still let’s Sasuke live. Itachi, took Naruto cause’… ummm… Naruto was so angry at him for what he did. Naruto actually walked in when Itachi killed Fugaku and Mikoto. So he actually had a worse experience than even Sasuke. So yeah, Naruto is consumed with so much rage that the 9 Tails takes complete control of him and he goes crazy. He starts attacking Itachi and tries to protect Sasuke. Yeah, like, Naruto was in shock after seeing his parents be murdered by his big brother/idol and when he saw Itachi beating up Sasuke. He just lost it and went completely insane. So yeah, Itachi uses his Sharingan to control the 9 Tails and he immobilizes him. Then, he knocks Naruto out and takes him with him. Because, the ANBU Black Ops were almost there and he just wasn’t even thinking things clearly. He panicked? Itachi then, tells Naruto the truth about what he did and trains Naruto. Just because? Well, cause’ he wanted Naruto to be able to protect himself and stuff? I don’t know! So yeah, he trains him and on their last day? He transplants Mikoto’s eyes (I’m going to go with Mikoto instead of Fugaku. Just so that I don’t feel like I’m a total Plagiarist.) into Naruto. He then, uses a forbidden jutsu to erase all of Naruto’s memories of all their time together. But, Naruto still remembers the skills he learned. He just doesn’t remember who taught them to him. In this series, since Naruto was taken under Fugaku’s and Mikoto’s wing/wings(?) he was way more dedicated in training and was actually more skilled at ninjutsu/taijutsu/etc than his counterpart. Because, he would actually train with a lot of Uchihas; Fugaku, Mikoto, Shisui, Itachi and Sasuke. So Sasuke and Naruto all just think that maybe Naruto already knew all these skills before? Itachi also puts Naruto under a genjutsu before leaving him and alters his memories. He makes Naruto believe that the reason why he gave him Mikoto’s/their mother’s eyes was as a cruel reminder of him not being able to do anything to protect his Mom. The one person who Naruto was closest to. (Because, we all know Naruto’s a Momma’s Boy). Itachi laughs at Naruto and mocks him with cruel words like, "You were never even my actual brother. I never wanted you in the first place. You were just an annoying little pest. So maybe, with these new eyes of yours you might feel more like an Uchiha. Although, deep down we both know that you’ll always be just a cheap and pale imitation. Try to get strong enough so that the next time we meet, you’ll at least give me a bit of a challenge before I kill you once and for all. You have no idea how much I’ve always wanted to kill you! You should’ve just died with your real parents!" And yeah, that’s actually the complete opposite of what Itachi feels. He doesn’t hate or even wants to hurt Naruto. He’s always loved Sasuke and Naruto the same way. They’re both precious to him. But, you ALL know that I specialize on Yaoi. So in this series Itachi x Naruto will be the main ship. And let me tell you something about it. This ship will have so much angst, love/hate, aggression that it will make SasuNaru in the canon show look like a fluffy and cute ship in comparison. Oh! And as for Naruto’s Mangekyo Sharingan ability? He’ll basically have the same ability as Lelouch’s geass. He can give any person one order and they’ll do it.

Hi! I was wondering
How do you think Hashirama and Madara would be in a Road to Ninja version?
I remember once reading a Hashimada fic (which I never finished RIP) that was about Madara appearing in the RTN universe and the 3 things that stucked with me were:
1.- Madara was the first Hokage (something that Madara thought was horrible when he saw his sculpted face on the Hokage mountain 🤣)
And personally I think that it would not have been like that even in the RTN universe because we didn't see his face along with the other faces of Hokages in the movie (Yeah, apparently I'm basing myself on a movie which I'm not even sure if it's canon or not, even though Kishimoto wrote it) and the RTN characters didn't seem to even know who Madara is.
2.- Hashirama having his bowlcut as an adult
And I agree with the Madara from that fanfic, it looks awful on him. Hashirama, babe, I'm sorry but the only ones who can rock that style are Guy Sensei and Rock Lee, I know you just were trying to be cool but it doesn't suite you.
3.- Tobirama was a porn writer
Instead of being a fan of forbidden jutsu and creating justus, he wrote porn novels a la Jiraiya. And I'll hold that headcanon with my dead hands.
The only other fanfic that places the founders in the RTN universe is one where the protagonist is Mito (it's an interesting one-shot that pairs her with Itama 🤔)
She was kind of a shy person 🤔? And so it was Tobirama 🤣 which I found fun.
Hashirama, as the first fanfic I mentioned, was the Tobirama of the place (saddenly Madara wasn't in this fic).
So I would like to know what are your versions of the founders (or only Hashirama and Madara if it is too much) in the RTN universe! And how do you think things would be
Hmm, RTN is an interesting concept to me but, to be honest, I don't think Konoha would exist if a lot of personalities got flipped 😂 I haven't read any RTN fics with the founders, but if you, or anyone else, have links at hand I'd love to check them out 👀
1. Madara
Here's the big one and the crux of why I don't think the village would exist. Typically I characterize Madara as an extremely responsible man who internalizes things when he shouldn't, takes himself way too seriously, is aggressive and abrasive even to people he loves sometimes, but genuinely loves the people closest too him. Reversing this would make a character that slacks off, takes no responsibility, and is completely passive in life and has fleeting attachments to others around him. Assuming he wouldn't die on the battlefield, I could see the RTN "alternate" personality coming about of Madara's being so overpowered and competent that he loses interest and distances himself from things before he can get attached and lose them.
It makes building a village very hard though. (At first I was tempted to go RTN Sasuke route and maybe RTN!Madara is a little more openly flirty than canon!Madara, but the passivity and refusal to take responsibility would be the "core" qualities for me.)
2. Hashirama
Hashirama is a bit weird because he has a lot of surface-level "conflicting" traits in canon. He is optimistic but he pushes beyond his natural attitude and uses it as a mask to hide instead of addressing his feelings. He's mischievous, likes jokes and games, and can be a bit hedonistic with his pleasure but can equally be serious when necessary and will willingly sacrifice for others around him. And simultaneously, Hashirama and Madara are connected by a shared sense of idealism but also anger. Hashirama is a very kind, but extremely angry, man. I think a RTN!Hashirama would share a kind of apathy of RTN!Madara but instead of passivity his lack of anger would manifest as cruelty. Because canon!Hashirama is angry but his anger is usually a righteous kind. I don't think RTN!Hashirama would go out of his way to be cruel, but he doesn't have the empathy of canon!Hashirama, especially to others' suffering. He enjoys fighting just a bit too much and has no qualms about killing. In his mind, he should always come first in any situation and prioritizing (or even considering) others' is effort and him going out of his way to be "nice" and the other should be thankful. Similarly if he feels any negative emotion, he won't bottle it up and swallow it down, he'll immediately address it, usually confrontationally. RTN!Hashirama is as intelligent as his canon counterpart but he doesn't suffer fools and he hates it when people underestimate him. He's pretty proud and vain, tbh.
I really don't think the above would make him the "Tobirama" of RTN verse. To me Hashirama and Tobirama have different core values and perspectives and inverting Hashirama's doesn't make it become Tobirama's, if that makes sense. This one is also wordy bc I immediately knew how RTN!Madara would be RTN!Hashirama is a bit harder to pin down. But I hope it's clear why I have doubts about the village existing...maybe if RTN!Hashirama got it in his mind as a pet project for the hell of it, that he'd be a better leader for the country and not just the Senju alone, and RTN!Madara liked the idea of no responsibility and being able to detach even further than he already was? But that's still kind of grasping for a reason.
3. Hashimada
Equally I think any Hashirama/Madara relationship would be ehhh. They definitely wouldn't have the overwhelming bond of their canon counterparts, and it could be a relationship ripe for unhappiness. The closest I can think of to making the ship work is RTN!Madara would be drawn to Hashirama's absurd level of self-confidence and able to let the casual cruelty slide off instead of getting worked up about it. In a way RTN!Hashirama is stable and predictable. If he's pretty overpowered, there's less of a chance RTN!Madara would lose him, so their relationship isn't deep but it's more or less dependable and Madara knows exactly what he's going to get. In contrast RTN!Hashirama has an audience in the form of RTN!Madara and a partner that's not going to push back against his ideas. RTN!Madara doesn't ask for much and he doesn't complain when RTN!Hashirama puts himself first. He doesn't want, or might not be capable of, the deep emotional bond their canon counterparts have. RTN!Madara wouldn't leave Konoha (if it existed) in the AU, because he doesn't really care. If someone upset RTN!Hashirama and he decided to leave to 'do it right' RTN!Madara would probably follow, maybe out of some loyalty for RTN!Hashirama but mostly because it's what's easiest.
4. Tobirama
The core of Tobirama's character to me is prioritizing logic over emotion and both a conscious and unconscious failure to realize he can't completely eliminate emotion. Tobirama loves his brother, he's curious and has a desire to find out what makes things work and is willing to bend morality to get results if it'll serve a greater good. He's very aware of the unfairness of the world but believes it's an unspoken truth of humanity and can only be mitigated through logical means, but never completely erased. He'll be the sacrificial lamb, the one that works in shadows so his brother can have his utopian dream. Despite everything, he loves his genin, the strongest bonds he has aside from Hashirama, and does try to instill in them lessons he think will help them and lead to peace and stability in the village. He's still influenced by the prejudices of his time and can never find it in him to truly forgive the Uchiha.
A RTN!Tobirama would be a man ruled by emotion. Him writing erotica all day definitely could be one way this manifests lol. But overall he's sensitive and spiritual and can't stand the idea of killing. He and RTN!Hashirama don't get along and he actively tries to avoid his brother. RTN!Tobirama has equally strong principles as canon!Tobirama, but they're pacifist in nature and while he likes his studies, he prefers to be out talking to people and learning from them first hand. He's very naive and can be easily taken advantage of and he has trouble focusing on any one thing for too long. No matter how many times this happens, he never can harden his heart or be overly suspicious of others. RTN!Tobirama would most likely be the one support peace in this AU. He embraces the Uchiha and all the Senjus past enemies with open arms, almost to a foolish degree. It'd be a bad idea if he became hokage in this AU because he's a terrible negotiator and has a bad people-pleasing streak and struggles with long-term tactics. With the exception of RTN!Hashirama, who he considers an aberration who doesn't have a soul, humans at their core all have good intentions at heart.
5. Mito
I characterize Mito as a very level-headed woman. Her marriage to Hashirama is political in nature but they grow to be good friends and she never expected to fall in love and she's glad Hashirama didn't want a traditional wife. Mito is devoted to her community work (she works hands-on with people in the village), she seeks out connections with others and, despite the distance, remains close with her family in Uzushio, constantly writing them letters. She's spiritual and follows the Uzumakis' beliefs (not gonna list this OoT spoiler lol) and studies fuinjutsu in her spare time, something she's done since she was a child. She is willing to sacrifice if it meant protecting something she considered greater than herself, much to her own personal detriment. She loves and is proud of her children and grandchildren, but if she had a choice, she would have chosen to remain childless, she finds her true calling elsewhere.
RTN!Mito, similarly to RTN!Tobirama, is ruled by emotions. She dreams of one day making a good marriage for herself and centers romance and being a mother as her ideal life, but she's extremely picky when it comes picking the perfect husband. RTN!Mito knows how much she's worth and she refuses to settle and will not even entertain the idea of an arranged marriage. She has a hard time forming long-lasting, deep bonds with other people and views starting her own family as the solution to this problem. At times she can be a bit absent-minded and unintentionally selfish, but she's not actively malicious. She blusters a lot and depending on the situation can come off as cold and uncaring, but it's only to hide the depth of her true feelings and loneliness. In this AU she would absolutely refuse to marriage RTN!Hashirama. Nothing on hell or earth, could make her change her mind.
Mito is such a blank-slate character it feels like writing an oc more than a canon character, tbh. And this is something I don't see brought up a lot but a "heart full of love" to combat the kyuubi's hatred to me has never been exclusive to romantic or familial (to children) love. *cough* I want a complex female character who's not vilified for not wanting to have children and/or regretting having them *cough* Mito's "love" was for the people of Konoha and Uzushio. My personal headcanon regarding her and Hashirama's child (I don't think she had more than one) was that she was dedicated to her son, but quickly realized being a mother wasn't her dream or something she even actively liked. The kid was well-cared for and she was dutiful towards him, but Hashirama was the parent that loved and embraced him with his whole heart and it led to some tension between Mito and her son as the kid could tell the difference and neither of them were "wrong" to feel the way they did. This is why Tsunade was shown with Hashirama instead of Mito, he was a lot more present in her life when she was young (instead of Kishi just not having made Mito as a character yet). But after Hashirama and Tsunade's dad died (and then Nawaki), she and Mito grew close but it was definitely more of a friendship or student/mentor relationship rather than a traditional grandmother/granddaughter relationship but both were satisfied with it and loved eachother. Likewise I didn't want RTN!Mito's characterization to be shallow and hit misogynistic undertones with her being an "opposite" to Mito's calm, level-headed, focused on her work/passions characterization.
6. Closing thoughts
#1: Wow this got long #2: I feel conflicted about RTN because it seemed to flip surface-level characteristics instead of deep characterizations, and ignored flaws altogether. The ones above, esp. Hashirama and Madara's, are kind of dark in a way? But that's the only way it makes sense to me...Gai and Lee caring about style and being stylish is a funny joke but if you were to actually poke and prod and say their personalities were inverted, neither of them would be top-notch ninja as we know...unless I'm just completely misremembering RTN because I realize it's been years since I saw it lol. Anyway, hope this was entertaining!

Word Count: 3,777
A/N: Long time, no see everyone! Thank you for your patience as I’ve worked through some writer’s block the past few months. I know many of you are waiting on the next chapter for A Lesson in Practicality, but I hope you’ll still enjoy this piece. Please let me know your thoughts if you have the time! Otherwise, thank you for taking some time to read my work. ^_^
Warning: This story contains depictions of panic attacks, PTSD flashbacks, and some alcohol abuse. Nothing too dark in here since it's mainly a comfort fic, but please be cautious if any of these topics are triggering for you.

____________________________________
Her day begins and ends the same way every other day the past year seemed to - with Sakura walking into the hospital with a confident spring to her step and a brightness in her eyes and dragging herself out (on the rare day she had the energy to pry herself from her desk) with antiseptic or blood or a mix of the two staining her hands and the lab coat she'd forgotten to peel off.
Tonight, Sakura consciously decides not to make the effort to drag herself out of the hospital. Leaving means she'll be roped into the birthday party Ino's been planning for Sai for months, and she doesn't quite have the energy to even shower, let alone paste a convincing smile on her lips.
She spares a glance at the old clock posted right above the chalkboard in her office as she shuffles in and locks the door behind her.
8:00PM.
Fourteen hours since Naruto shook her awake and thrust her straight into a day from hell.
It's still a little too early for anyone to come looking for her yet. Naruto will notice that she's not at the bar right when he arrives, but Hinata will patiently remind him of the shitshow that was today and reason that Sakura's still probably dealing with the aftermath. (In much less colorful terms, of course; Sakura's only heard her friend curse a handful of times, none of which were in front of Naruto.) That'll buy her about an hour before Ino starts making a fuss and sends Sai or Kiba out to Sakura's apartment.
If she's not there, they'll assume she's still at the hospital, and they won't come back until it's close to midnight. Not today. Not after seeing the hallways lined with burn victims pleading for someone to find their loved ones. Not after returning home and finding that the stench of charred skin and blood isn't so easy to wash out of their clothes.
Sakura didn't get to leave. Her role just changed from a kunoichi dispatched on a rescue mission to the de facto head of the hospital the moment she crossed the threshold.
She pulls the shades in hopes of convincing her friends that she isn't here if they do decide to come looking but stops short in front of the light switch. The migraine between her temples screams for her to turn the fluorescents off, but she doesn't trust her mind not to see death in the shadows of her office tonight.
She turns them off anyways.
It isn't until she's sitting criss-cross on her floor with her too-full bookshelf at her back and a bottle of sake in her hand that Sakura realizes her hands are trembling. A splash of sake makes its way onto her carpet instead of into her cup, and she curses because it's good sake - the expensive kind that Tsunade bought her a case of after the war and no no no.
She cuts that thought there because violent memories of the war, or rather the days immediately following the war, have been intruding into her mind all day and she just can't.
A case or so of sake should knock her and those thoughts right out (or so she hopes). Years of honing her skills as a medic nin have given her a certain resistance to toxins, including alcohol, and it's why she doesn't bother to drink most of the time; social drinking is more of a waste of money than anything else. She figures that's precisely why her mentor gave her an entire case as a gift.
It isn't until she's two bottles in and there's a buzzed lightness to her body that she realizes she's crying.
Her breath seems to come faster and faster, shallower and shallower, and she wonders if the buzz and creeping, cold numbness in her fingers is because of the alcohol or the lack of oxygen. She's shivering, muscles tensed to the point of pain, but she blames it on the chill of the hospital.
Another glass will knock the cold right out. At least, that's what Tsunade used to say when she drank away the ghosts that forced themselves a little too close to the front of her mind.
It's a few glasses later that Sakura starts seeing the eyes of the dead staring back at her from the shadows at the edges of her office. She's back on the battlefield, the same smell of burnt skin and the mournful cries of shinobi finally processing the deaths of their comrades hanging in the air. She's been healing for days, but she continues to push. The fighting may be over but there are still identities to confirm, survivors to heal, and families to be notified.
Sakura knew that death was part of her job description from her days in the Academy; protecting the interests of the village often required it. Tsunade had let her figure out that the same was true of her job as a medic on her own, when she lost her first patient at fifteen. She'd learned to put the deaths she dealt with in a neat little box which she deadbolted and tossed on a shelf in the deepest recess of her mind she could find.
But death was a uniquely stubborn bastard that didn't always like to stay in that box.
She'd been awake for the full three days the war had drawn on, but the medical corps was tasked with the brunt of combing through the miles upon miles of dead shinobi for another forty-eight hours or so. They'd had help, but medics were the ones needed throughout to organize, heal, or in the worst possible cases (which Sakura and Shizune handled) show mercy to the shinobi who were alive but long past the point of saving.
Sakura nearly vomits and washes the bile down with more sake. One glass. Another.
The quiet tears have turned into sobs that scratch at her throat and squeeze her lungs. Her nails cut thin crescent moons into her forearms, and her shoulders hunch as if she can ward off the prying eyes. Sakura barely has the presence of mind to activate the silencing seal in her office - the one she keeps on hand when discussing particularly sensitive cases - before her sobs grow into half screams. She can't get enough air to manage much more than a hoarse cry, but if she can just drink fast enough, it shouldn't matter.
And so she cracks open another bottle and brings it directly to her lips, trying to focus on the burn of the alcohol on her throat and Naruto's bright smile reassuring her that everything would be fine when he first found her clutching a bottle of sake in the corner of her disaster of a bedroom.
What she doesn't count on is the alcohol making it increasingly difficult to distinguish reality from the memories that have escaped from her mind and seared themselves into the darkness around her. They become more real, more tangible, until she swears she can hear the fresh widow of a shinobi from Cloud shouting about how Sakura hadn't done enough. Another voice joins until there's a chorus telling her exactly what she feared most:
There shouldn't have been so many casualties. She should have been able to do more.
She was weak.
Her tears stop for a moment when she looks up and sees Sasuke standing in the doorway. For a fraction of a second, she almost feels relieved and tries to move to go to him, but she's reminded none of this is real, and she can't be sure which Sasuke this is. Given her current state of mind, it's probably the one who haunted her nightmares for months after the bridge and still longer after his genjutsu in the war. She takes a swig from the bottle she clenches in her fist and curls back into herself.
Sasuke's repeated calls of her name fall on deaf ears.
For his part, Sasuke is at a loss. He's never seen Sakura like this (and he'd witnessed her tears firsthand on many occasions as genin). Sure, she's always worn her heart on her sleeve and been far too open with her emotions by standard shinobi rules, but she has never seemed so broken.
Looking at the scratch marks that trail down her forearms and the far too many empty bottles of sake for someone of her stature littered on the carpet, Sasuke realizes he doesn't know this woman - and in retrospect, he never should have assumed otherwise.
From her confessions both during the war and when he made the decision to leave her behind yet again, Sasuke knows she's still fiercely loyal and has a light bright enough to forgive and heal anything it touches without her needing to make the conscious choice to do so. Her skills as a shinobi have grown to the point that she could give him a challenge if they were to spar, and he's seen her heal an entire battlefield for days on end while still fighting on the front lines.
She's become more than worthy of the title of the "New Sannin," as the original Team 7 has now been christened, and she still loves him (unreasonably so in his opinion, but he's come to realize that maybe he doesn't want her to change her mind - even if he thinks it would be better for her in the long run). But that's all he knows, and he finds himself wanting to discover more of who Sakura is now.
He has years of absence and cruel actions to make up for, and far more growth beyond that to become someone who deserves the steadfast love she's always been ready to give him.
At the moment, however, he needs to get her to let go of the liquor bottle she clutches onto like a lifeline and refocus on the present. He's been trapped by his past more times than he'll ever admit, and though he hasn't had real comfort since his mother (and Sakura, he amends), he owes it to her to at least try.
Sasuke approaches her slowly, intentionally making his footsteps heavier so that she can hear him approach. Whatever nightmare she's trapped in - he confirmed it wasn't a genjutsu the moment he broke the lock on her door after an unnerving spike in her chakra - she hasn't seemed to notice he's actually here. He bites back the guilt that surfaces at the thought that he could be part of her nightmare, but that's something they can work through later.
He crouches down in front of her, taking a firm hold of the hand that clutches the bottle to try to coax it out of her grip. She jolts at the touch, peeking hesitantly up from her knees with red-rimmed eyes and a mix of tears and sweat coating her cheeks.
"Breathe, Sakura."
Her grip loosens as she meets his eyes. He sees uncertainty waver in her gaze as she hiccups in a short breath, but then the panic snaps back down and tightens her hold on the bottle yet again.
"I- I can't."
The words are stilted, as though forcing out those two words causes her physical pain. Sasuke, however, considers it a small win as it means Sakura's decided he's real. Her breathing is still far too fast, and he knows he needs to stabilize it before she's ready to explain what's happening.
It's awkward - both because Sasuke has never done this and the fact that he hasn't completely sorted through his feelings for his teammate - but he eventually pulls Sakura far enough away from the bookcase that he can shuffle in behind her. He secures his legs around her sides and arranges Sakura so that her back rests on his chest.
It's almost annoying just how snugly Sakura fits against him, her head tucked just below his chin. A part of his mind notes how her curves seem to melt into his frame only to be ruthlessly shoved down. There are priorities, and noting how the boyish (yet annoyingly charming) Sakura has clearly blossomed into a young woman is not one of them.
Where the Sakura from his memories smelled of strawberries and artificial sweetness, the woman in his arms tonight seems as though she's been doused in a pungent blend of antiseptic and ash.
"Breathe, Sakura."
Sasuke repeats Sakura's name to ground her as he starts regulating his own breath: six counts in through the nose, hold, eight counts out through the mouth. He's sure to exaggerate his breaths a bit so Sakura can feel the movement against her back. Hesitantly, his hand comes up to trail over the marks on her forearm. His hands have always been cold, so he figures the one he has left might be able to relieve some of the sting from her nails.
He makes a mental note to pick up some basic medical ninjutsu and doesn't bother to pretend it's just for field injuries.
It takes about ten minutes for Sakura's breathing to return mostly to normal. It still stutters every now and then, but she's matching Sasuke almost breath for breath. She doesn't move away from him, and Sasuke doesn't move to shift her.
As they sit in silence, save for their own breathing, Sasuke realizes he's put himself in a position where he needs to actually start the conversation. There's no bright chatter, no smile to coax him into talking. Again, he's at a loss.
It seems this new Sakura has retained a talent for doing this to him.
Annoying woman.
"Tell me about it."
Sakura immediately shakes her head, breath trembling yet again. Sasuke sighs and guesses he should have known she wasn't going to make this easy for him. He can't blame her. If someone asked him to do the same, he would have told them to fuck off.
"Sakura."
She turns to him with a dangerous look in her eyes, a cold jade that threatens to cut him if he pushes too far. Sasuke's always been the best at serving the very same look, but it's unnerving to see it etched into Sakura's soft features.
"Dammit, Sakura. Just talk to me."
Her gaze grows warmer, but not in the way he wants. She's angry, and Sasuke isn't really sure how he could have pissed her off in just six words. Sakura being Sakura, she of course makes the reason for her anger clear immediately.
"And why the hell do I need to do that, Sasuke?"
Sasuke nearly winces at the dropped suffix on his name and tries to remember how his mother handled it when he refused to confide in her.
"You haven't been here" - even Sakura knows this is unfair as she says it, but the confusion, grief, and alcohol clouding her mind make it difficult to acknowledge how much the man she loves has grown to be able to offer this to her- "and you never told me anything when I asked you to. So fuck off, Sasuke-kun. I'm sure Naruto's expecting you."
Naruto most definitely wasn't, but Sasuke doesn't see the value in pointing that particular fact out. By the time he got to the village and was promptly dragged into the bar he had made the mistake of walking past on his way to the Hokage Tower, the idiot was already drunk off his ass. Ino was as well, so Hinata asked Sasuke if he would mind going to check on Sakura at the hospital since she and Sai needed to stay to take care of their significant others.
Sakura finally moves to get up, tipping over a half-full bottle of sake in her efforts, but Sasuke can still see the tremors in her hands and the familiar strain of a jaw clenched against tears. Her eyes still dart towards the corners of the room.
Sasuke's well aware of the ghosts that can haunt those shadows and resolves to help Sakura put hers to rest, even if it's just for the night. His legs tighten around Sakura before she can fully pull away from him, and she falls back against his chest with a huff and a glare that's more tired than venomous.
Sasuke sighs and lowers his head. His bangs cover his eyes as he decides to voice at least part of the feelings he's managed to process regarding Sakura. He's not sure exactly how to categorize how he feels about her yet (mostly because his mind still can't comprehend why someone so bright has loved him through so much darkness), but he wants to help and that's about all he can offer her at the moment.
She deserves more, so much more, but he hopes it's enough for now.
"I'm here, Sakura."
He wants to add that he's not going anywhere because someone who will stay is only a fraction of what Sakura deserves, but that's not a promise he can make.
He feels Sakura's surprise as she stiffens against him, and her breath stops altogether for a few worrying moments. Sasuke wills himself to stay relaxed at her back, still maintaining a steady breathing pace should she need the rhythm again.
Sakura's thoughts are a whirlwind that she tries to grab ahold of but slips right through her fingers. She's torn, half of her mind shattered glass that urges her to open up and share even a part of her pain so that she can just stop breaking. Sasuke's here, showing his own vulnerability (however slight) in hopes that she'll trust him enough to do the same, and she's not sure when she'll experience this side of him again.
The other half, near-solid stone with only spiderweb cracks, whispers that voicing the memories that haunt her will only confirm her weakness in Sasuke's eyes. Instead of seeing the warrior who destroyed the ground and healed thousands in the war, he'll see the wisp of a girl who had trailed behind him as a genin.
It's the gentle, unconscious stroke of Sasuke's thumb across her forearm that makes her decision. Sasuke can sense the shift in Sakura as her head drops back onto his shoulder and her eyes squeeze shut. She's tired, so tired.
"I killed them."
Her voice breaks in the middle, and Sakura hisses out a quiet dammit at her traitorous voice. Sasuke's hand tightens where it rests on her arm.
He's quiet for a moment. Outside of discussing strategy or the details of a mission, talking isn't something Sasuke has much practice in. That, and his plan may have ended at getting Sakura to calm down enough to breathe properly.
He spends another minute in silence, growing increasingly frustrated with his inability to find the words he needs to comfort the woman who has always known exactly what he needed to hear. Sakura, however, doesn't seem to mind the silence as she relaxes against him. Green eyes crack open, and though they're still muddled with pain, he sees a steady glimmer of trust and contentment behind them that immediately quells his frustration.
The open trust in Sakura's gaze reminds Sasuke that she's never expected him to be anyone other than himself. She's always been patient, meeting him more than halfway as he seemed to take one step towards her and two or three back.
He suspects it's the same now, as there's no expectation in her eyes, no tension in her body that suggests she's irritated by his silence. So instead of pushing himself to think of the correct words to fill the empty space, Sasuke pulls her more firmly against his chest and shifts her so his chin rests lightly atop her head.
It's more affection than he's ever shown, and it's far from comfortable for him, but Sasuke knows that Sakura's worth a bit of discomfort.
Just as Sakura has spent so many years steadfastly waiting for him to come to her, he settles in to wait for her to tell him - whether that time comes tonight or later down the line.
That time doesn't come tonight. Though she trusts Sasuke with her life, Sakura can't quite break through the insecurity that he'll find her weak the moment she says anything more. Maybe it's not a fair assumption to make, but most of her memories of them together on the battlefield ended in Sakura being treated as fragile - something to be left behind and protected.
Even if they made progress during the war, Sakura's not quite ready to test the durability of the picture of strength she painted as she threw herself at Madara or took on a goddess at her team's side.
Instead, she's happy to just let his presence ward off the shadows in her mind. The voices are silent at his touch, so she decides to just enjoy the rest and wrestle with them when they inevitably come back after Sasuke's gone again.
Sasuke feels Sakura's breathing even out and watches her eyes flutter closed as she falls asleep against him. It's an interesting thing, having someone trust you so fully that they're willing to be at their most unguarded.
And he's done nothing to deserve it. He knows this, and it merely strengthens his resolve to continue his journey of atonement so that he can become someone who's at least a fraction deserving of Sakura and all that she's willing to offer him.
As he maneuvers himself out from behind Sakura and shifts her onto his back, Sasuke realizes with a tinge of bitterness that this is something he could have every day - Sakura's presence and everything bright and loving that entails. But as much as he wants to be there when she wakes up and finally say yes to taking her with him, he's not quite ready for that step.
There's more growth to be had, more relationships to mend, more emotions for him to reconcile within himself. While he knows having Sakura by his side would expedite the process of mending bridges and healing his own wounds, she needs to keep some of her light for herself.
When he leaves this time, it's out of consideration not just for himself, but for both of them. He can just make out the time when he asks Sakura to join him on his journey in the near future, but it's not now. They both have steps they need to take before they're ready.
He leaves Sakura tucked under the nest of far too many blankets she's always stubbornly kept haphazardly strewn across her bed, with a simple note on her nightstand:
Next time, Sakura.

I love your analysis on naruto!! If you want could you give your opinion/analysis on Itachi and sasuke’s relationship?
thanks :) and...wow okay 😩 I put all my shit about Itachi under the cut bc it got too long (naruto spoilers btw 🤨🤨🤨 for the whole series)
Itachi and Sasuke's entire story is just horrifically sad. What makes me so mad about the ending, is that there is no way that Sasuke could resign himself to Konoha after learning everything about the massacre. Nor would Naruto & Kakashi have ever forced him after learning the truth from Obito. Regardless of what Itachi wanted in the end—HE HIMSELF is like that because of years of manipulation from having served Konoha for 3 years under the ANBU.
So, it's not like what Itachi wants is even...something to fight for🤷🏾‍♂️ there are hundreds of life experiences he didn't go through because he became an ANBU at that age & then immediately defected. He doesn't even want anything for himself, his main goals were peace in the shinobi world & keeping his brother safe.
Sasuke doesn't even know the truth about the massacre until after he kills Itachi and learns all of this alone in a bar somewhere. The greatest conflict lies with Sasuke, because he looked up to and loved Itachi so much and then spent the rest of his life throwing everything away to track down and kill him. He refused to call Itachi his brother or even say his name until they see each other and he spends years conflicting over it.
I think Sasuke, with how smart he is, knew that Itachi just losing his mind and killing everyone made no sense. I also think no matter how bad of a person Itachi tried to make himself in Sasuke's eyes, every single other memory he with Itachi up until the massacre was good. Sure Itachi was distant before the clan's final moments, but he most probably didn't think too much of it when he was younger. Probably partially blames himself for that too. The whole thing just didn't make sense, but he's the only one left and he has to avenge them. And he probably didn't let himself contemplate on these thoughts too much because it'd feel disrespectful to the the clan that lost their lives.
So then upon learning the truth. Tbh, it's no wonder he just lost his mind. Like, I had a lot of things I was gonna say but like, no wonder. Like that one post said, the Uchiha genuinely love eachother to insanity. They feel too much, they think too much & it always leads them to this. I don't think any of them are inherently bad, just victims to how they're treated by others. And what's even more fucked up, is rememeber how Itachi gets re-animated during the war and they meet again, sure he gets some more closure but like...it's not like Itachi has anything new to say. At this point, there's like a very stark change of the way Sasuke sees Itachi. Idk it was real sad...I'm not making sense anymore 😄
SO THEIR RELATIONSHIP. TL;DR ...I think there was just a lot of longing and guilt on both sides. I honestly think, that if Itachi didn't feel so immensely guilty for the clan and dropped the act, he could've calmed Sasuke down when they met again in order to have Sasuke kill him. They loved each other very much and I think it's really sad that they both had to go through this on their own....yk. They missed eachother a lot nd it's really terrible how things turn out 🏃🏾‍♂️
There's a lot to Itachi, but also nothing much because of how short of a life he lived when you think about it. He's severely traumatised and all this trauma he goes through before he even turns 12. Konoha took advantage of that, like they did with any kid there and made him into a weapon. His best friend, the only people who shared and understood his views and sentiments kills himself after a GROWN ASS MAN stole his eye & he gives the other to Itachi. Then Danzo took even further advantage of that and asked a 12 year old to pick between letting his entire clan get killed or allowing him to kill them all and spare his brother. Then he defects and CONTINUES TO PROTECT KONOHA within Akatsuki, all for his brother. Then he dies at his brothers hand.
And doing this, Itachi decides that Sasuke is the one who should punish him for all these actions. Which is.....very bad, Sasuke was maybe 7-9 years old at this time. He's fully aware for his actions, but he has to deal with the guilt somehow and he pushes it all onto Sasuke so he can..."make himself stronger". Which is dumb as hell, but to him it's the best way for Sasuke to come out of the situation stronger. He genuinely thought that this was the best outcome and when Sasuke talks to him during the Great Shinobi War, he's so conflicted at how Itachi could think that was the best option. Idk im just recounting atp 🤷🏾‍♂️ but I think it's just really sad that Itachi thought that's all he could do for his brother & Sasuke very reasonably, ended up like that. Yk...just very twisted 😩 Ok thx for reading this entire mess

Match-Up #31
Hi I’m Ana and I’m new at this, if it’s wrong don’t do it. Sorry for my poor english and and I forgot the pet peeves
Ah, hello, Ana @a6r6o6k! I hope you’ll have plenty fun in the fandom :D And don’t worry, it’ll be all good. The match-making shall begin! >:3
*5 positive qualities: 📍I think I’m intelligent (but I don’t really know) 📍 I’m curious: so I like to know the why of the things 📍Loyal: even if I like to see and have other options I always want to keep with the same people 📍I like to help, I’m studying psychology to understand people and help them: if I can help being a psychologist GREAT, if I need to do something else it’s also GREAT. 📍I’m adventurous if I have the security
To begin with, let’s consider intelligence and curiosity together. As per usual in such situations, I’d dare look more so towards the rather intellectual suitors who could match such characteristics - perhaps leaning a bit more towards the encouraging ones, the ones who simply challenge the people around them to think more.
Nobunaga (+2) Mitsuhide (+2) Mitsunari (+1) Masamune (+1) Shingen (+2) Sasuke (+2)
Now, loyalty! Hmm... The way you describe it... I suppose it could be understood either as a sign of investing in relationships, even despite some differences... Although I do think some could take it as choosing to stay in relationship at the expense of your ideals. Let’s see how those two approaches balance out.
Nobunaga (+1) Mitsuhide (-1) Hideyoshi (+1) Mitsunari (+1) Ieyasu (-1) Masamune (-1) Kenshin (+1) Shingen (+1)
Ah, helping others! Oh love, with psychology... I mean, hm, how do I put it? Please, do not become a therapist for all of our Ikemen, because gash, that’s a real threat with how sad most of them is ;-; But, that aside, I think most suitors would understand the drive to help others very well... Although some perhaps a tiny bit more than others.
Hideyoshi (+1) Ieyasu (+1) Kenshin (+1) Shingen (+1)
Adventurous, if provided with enough support? Ha, that brings some suitors to mind! (I picked those who are less likely to suddenly prank their partner with something potentially dangerous, even if just for laughs).
Mitsuhide (+1) Masamune (+1) Kenshin (+1)
*5 negative qualities: 📍Picky eater (I can’t eat thing with certain textures like snails, or things very bitter or acid) 📍I’m very pessimistic, sometimes realistic but more pessimistic: I don’t have depression, but there is history of depression in my family. 📍Easily distracted: I have ADD (Attentive Deficit Disorder), so I have the concentration time spam of a fish, even e with the things I like, if I have to use all my attention I can, but if not usually I doing 5 things at the same time. 📍I very disorganised: I think it comes with the ADD but I don’t know 📍I don’t have the knowledge of the social clues, so I’m very talkative sometimes and very silent other times.
Picky eater? Oh, there should be some suitors who could either understand that, or who could try to remedy that... Although the latter option may come with a bit of a rocky start, haha.
Mitsuhide (+1) Hideyoshi (+1) Mitsunari (+1) Masamune (+1)
Hmm... So you say you tend to lean more so towards pessimism? I suppose suitors who would amplify that could be a bad choice... But perhaps those that have more of a soothing, grounding aura?
Mitsuhide (+1) Hideyoshi (-1) Mitsunari (+1) Ieyasu (-1) Masamune (+1) Kenshin (-1)
To be honest, I can think of only one character that would be annoyed by deficits of attention. Same with lack of understanding of social situations and such (also, I can high-five you on that).
Ieyasu (-2)
As for being disorganized... I think it could prove troublesome when in relationship with some suitors who also share this characteristic.
Hideyoshi (+1) Mitsunari (-1)
1st Summary
Mitsuhide (+4) Shingen (+4) Nobunaga (+3) Hideyoshi (+3) Mitsunari (+3) Masamune (+3) Kenshin (+2) Sasuke (+2) Ieyasu (-3)
*5 likes: 📍Read: everything (fantasy, culture, history...). Knowledge is power. 📍I would like to travel to learn language to understand people 📍Sweet things: I love sweet things 📍Animals: I wanted to be a veterinarian but I couldn’t enter in the University 📍Listening and observe people
Points distributed for likes:
Nobunaga (+3) - he would agree with such views on knowledge, sweet things, travel Mitsuhide (+3) - views on knowledge, travel, observing people Mitsunari (+1) - reading Ieyasu (+2) - views on knowledge, animals (veterinary in particular) Masamune (+1) - travel Shingen (+3) - views on knowledge, sweets, observing people Sasuke (+3) - observing people, reading, travel
* 5 dislikes: 📍I have a big scar in the side of the chest, combined with a hunched back and two breast of different size it makes me uncomfortable, so my body. 📍Get my freedom limited 📍Have to stay still 📍Just do things because the people talk 📍I have fear to be alone, like not psychically, but emotionally
A break from match-up. Oh love, we all have our imperfections, and what you mentioned in the first point are perfectly human traits. Breasts generally are of a different size, and it can vary a lot - and which is bigger can even change depending on the point in time of your menstrual cycle. Scars tell stories of what we went through and what makes us ourselves. We all have some, smaller, bigger ones, but they are there... And, lastly, as a person who used to have very bad posture (somewhat hunched back and some more): you may want to look into whether it could potentially cause some complications later on. Of course, it may not be a concern, but you know. Caring about your body is very important.
So, with that, some extra points, specifically for suitors who know how to cheer on their lover and who cherish them openly.
Mitsuhide (+1) Masamune (+1) Shingen (+1)
Points distributed for dislikes:
Nobunaga (-2) - limited freedom, emotionally aloof at times Ieyasu (-1) - may give the aura that you have to do something, because he says so, or because somebody says so, some norm says so Masamune (-1) - emotionally aloof at times Kenshin (-2) - emotionally aloof at times, limited freedom Shingen (-1) - emotionally aloof at times
2nd Summary
Mitsuhide (+8) Shingen (+7) Nobunaga (+4) Mitsunari (+4) Masamune (+4) Hideyoshi (+3) Sasuke (+5) Ieyasu (-2)
Only characters with positive value by their names will be considered in the final stages of the match-up.
* Relationship dealbreakers: 📍I don’t think I have any relationship dealbreakers except the mentioned in the pet peeves(it would be my first relationship), but I would not like be cheated without a reason (you don’t trust me so you don’t tell me the plan, okay; you don’t tell me all the information to tease me, okay; you just lie to me to hurt me, not okay) 📍Okey, may be I have 1 or 2 dealbreakers: I don’t stand people that treats others like garbage just because (if the other did something okay, but just because no) 📍Being ignored 📍People that is very possessive physically and emotionally: I need to talk and touch my friends. 📍People that believe that just because I can’t do things: like “you’re a woman you can’t fight” or “you can’t show so much skin”... 📍People that assume things: I like to be asked. 📍People that touch me without permission: if is a bet or a game I can, but without permission I can’t.
Oh, so I should consider pet peeves as dealbreakers?
* Up to 3 pet peeves: dealbreakers v.2 📍Poor hygiene 📍Be cheated 📍Constant criticism
Nobunaga (+4) & Masamune (+4) - too touchy, may not ask for permission first, they do struggle with the idea of consent at first Hideyoshi (+3) - may initially assume some things
* 3 Wild Cards: 📍I’m very naive and believe what people say so... if someone says “I don’t like/love you” in the real life I would believe them. 📍I think that I’m like a cat: I want a home base to return but I want to have the freedom to explore my environment. I want to have someone to return but with freedom to leave 📍My type of love is Words of affirmation
Mitsuhide & Shingen (-1) - they may use this sort of naivety and say such things, although they’d most likely have a good reason for it (hence not cross out for meeting a dealbreaker)
*Most disliked characters: 📍Kennyo: I don’t like that he is trying to kill me. 📍Ranmaru: I see him like a little brother 📍Mitsunari: the same as Ranmaru 📍Motonari: sorry Motonari, you’re very hot but the chains and necklaces are out of fashion
Mitsunari (+4)
Final Results
Mitsuhide (+7) Shingen (+6) Sasuke (+5)
Mitsuhide
Confessed first: You, although he didn’t realise you truly did mean it and weren’t just playing a role.
Makes tea in the morning: Mitsuhide. Having learnt of your problems with focus, he decided to make sure you’d at least eat something in the morning too - it made him realise how he worried others, so to say.
Hogs blankets at night: There’s no hogging blankets involved. He always has a spare blanket on hand. Sometimes you wonder whether there’s an infinity of blankets hidden around... Although, quite honestly, he is just more likely to go in for a hug if you did steal one from him.
Is the little spoon: On most days, you.
Possible points for conflict: Given his line of work, it happens sometimes that he has to pretend, to say things he does not mean. At times he may forget of how literally you take his words as well.
Free time ideas: Strolling through the town, visiting the marketplace, playing with his pet fox (Chimaki), just resting in the gardens of his manor.
Favourite date spot: The quiet and cosy teashop in the town.
A secret you share: He adores how literal you can be, but sometimes... Sometimes it causes for you to overwork yourself, or get otherwise hurt. Whenever such things happen, he gently urges you to stay inside while he lies on your behalf.
His favourite thing about you: How open you are. He fell for you, which means everything that you are, but he is still amazed by the fact that you dare be so direct and trusting. In his mind, it is a sign of a strong heart.
His message to you: “What is it, little mouse?” ”You’re not convinced you deserve so much?” ”My, my... Then let me prove to you how gorgeous you are. After all, you’re the only one I dare want.”

Baby steps
He was standing over a crib made of a basket and a pillow. It's been 3 days since his daughter appeared in the world. A little human being no bigger than his forearm, with black hair and eyes, and a broad forehead. After more than twenty years of life, Sasuke thought that he knew everything about love. He remembered the love that he have for his parents and how, through pain, it turned into hate. At that time, he thought that there was no escape from this state. After Itachi's death, he completely lost himself in the darkest depths of his soul. However, he was saved by his new family. He found a new bond, similar to a parental relationship with his sensei, a brotherly relationship with Naruto, but while travelling with Sakura, he discovered a completely new kind of love, combining trust, respect and friendship with passions that he had never paid attention to before. This love was built on a deep mutual understanding, after spending a year together they understood each other without words, both in combat and in their daily journeys. Despite this, standing over his daughter's crib, he knew that, if at all possible, he loved her even more. He was beginning to understand why Itachi had sacrificed everything to protect him. He knew he would do the same for her. Sarada was completely defenceless dependent on the care of her parents. He was sure that Sakura would be able to provide her with everything she needed. But as for himself ... For the first time in his life, he didn't know what to do. Being a genius and a stubborn person, he easily found solutions to problems. If something required more work from him, using the method of trial and error, he always made his way to achieve  the goal. However, this was not the method he could apply in this case. There is no place for experiments. In the end he was even afraid to touch her without the supervision of his wife. He was afraid that he would hurt her as he did his new family-team 7.
So all he did, was stand and watch her tiny chest rise and fall with each breath she take. This calm rhythm was disturbed as the infant made a quick motion with its tiny limbs, then opened its eyes and let out a loud scream. Before he had time to react, Sakura had already picked up the little one and soon she started to feed her. Sasuke stood still in place watching his family. He felt useless. Pink-haired, despite the fact that she still did not regain her full strength after giving birth, was able to look after their baby. Even Karin changed Sarada’s diaper several times when his wife was not around.
It wasn't long before the green irises caught his gaze.
"Anata?" She asked, looking at him knowing that something is bothering him. He knew from experience that there was little point in denial.
He was silent for a moment, and then he let out a sigh.
“I don't have it ...” he replied, but seeing Sakura's confused face he added  ”Parental instinct ... Father instinct? I don't know what to do, I can't take care of her like you do...”
He admitted embarrassed, and his wife's reaction definitely not helped, she start laughing. It was the last thing he expected, and he felt annoyed.
“Sasuke-kun” pink-haired started as soon as she managed to calm down ”You really think that my behaviour is due to the maternal instinct?”
He didn’t say a thing.
“Anata, I'm a medical ninja. I was literally trained to take care of infants, so did Karin...” she replied looking him straight in the eyes. Even though he saw the sincerity in her gaze, her words did not completely convince him.
"To be honest, I also panicked at the beginning," she sighed seeing his reaction. It's natural, most parents don't know how to care for a newborn baby at first, theory and practice are two different things, she finished smiling and pointing to him on the place on the bed next to her. When he sat down she put Sarada between them.
“Babies are not as delicate as they look ... Believe me, you won't hurt her if you are careful and remember a few rules. It may be harder with one hand but it is not impossible ...”
Hearing that, Sasuka felt relieved. Even though he wasn't sure of his own abilities, he definitely trusted his wife. By listening carefully and observing (also with the Sharingan), he learned to care for their child.
.................................................. ....
Within two weeks, the moment came when he was left alone to take care of their child. Sakura and Karin travelled to the nearest city to buy vaccines for Sarada. This journey with a child would take too long. He also couldn’t go, because there was the necessary knowledge and medic licence to buy them. The first 3 hours passed calmly. The milk bottles his wife left for them should be enough if he didn't, they have formula as well. Sarada cooperated by sleeping most of the time. The problem started as usual, with a scream. Sasuke quickly found himself at the crib, it took a little longer to find the reason for her crying. Her diaper had to be changed. It was an activity that the head of the Uchiha family had never done before. At least not alone. The lack of one hand effectively prevented him from mastering this art so far, and he did not want to use a susano, whose bony hands were definitely not suitable for caring for a child. The baby's crying continued, and he couldn’t wait for Sakura's return. As carefully as he could, he put her on the changing table and unbuttoned the diaper. The contents were frighteningly large, it was hard to imagine that such a small creature could produce so much of... The mission of changing a diaper was not easy. It took over 20 minutes, cost him three packets of wipes, two clean diaper and a litter of water. Nevertheless, he was proud of the end result. Sarada on the other hand was not impressed, she already fell asleep.
.....................................................
Three months passed before they made the decision to return to Konoha. Travelling with an infant turned out to be even more difficult than travelling with a pregnant woman. They both agreed that sleeping outside should be kept to a minimum. However, it was not easy to determine the route home so that you could find accommodation at the inn every day. In addition, it extended their path almost three times. When they got here looking for help, he had not expected that they would be able to stay here for so long. However, Karin convinced them that she did not mind their presence. They occupied only one room in the huge empty facility which she had to take care of. In addition, Uzumaki had a clear weakness for their daughter. Sarada took his place as an object of her adoration. Not that he complained about it. The little one also liked to play with Karin. Especially she liked her glasses and hair. However, as Uchiha she did not like excessive affection.
Now he was sitting and watching the former Taka member walk down the corridor, cradling baby to her cheek.
"You're so cute, you have such a clear and tiny chakra, uhhhh you're so sweet I could eat you!" But despite the fact that his daughter had a much greater tolerance to cuddles than he did. It was her patience that had its limits as well. Which have now been exceeded. The baby moved its limbs vigorously before a loud roar came out of her small lungs.
Karin was devastated.
Sasuke just sighed before he went to save his firstborn. As soon as he took her in his arm, the crying ceased. Sarada looked at him with those large black eyes curiously. Her little body, still agitated by the hiccups after crying, slowly relaxed as one of her fists clung to his shirt.
“Hn. She doesn't like being squishing” he replied.
Uzumaki blushed slightly ashamed.
At this point, Sakura ran into the room.
"What happened?" She asked, looking at their daughter.
"She get little irritated" he replied. Hearing her mother's voice, little Uchiha smiled, only to burst out laughing moments later when the pink-haired kissed her forehead. However, as soon as he tried to hand Sarada over to her, the little one made a dissatisfied sound, clenching even tighter the fist she was holding on to him. Her attention turned to him once again. Despite the fact that she undoubtedly inherited her facial features from Sakura, the face with which she looked at him was a pout typical of the Uchiha. He couldn't help but smile. Seeing this, baby giggled again.
“Uh, the three of you are disgustingly cute, “Uzumaki sighed, reminding me of her presence.
Sakura only replied with a laugh  “I just finished packing tomorrow we can go ...”
..........................................
The farewell turned out to be much longer than he expected. During the three mouths they spent together, Sakura and Karin became friends and exchanged thousands of studies related to medical ninjutsu, as well as managed to grow a new plant with a combination of two popular species used in the production of chakra tablets. Of course, they left the exchange of contact data for the last moment. At some point they became too emotional when Uzumaki burst into tears and then his wife joined her. He was starting to lose patience. He looked at Sarada who was sleeping in the sling that acted as her baby carrier, didn’t care at all about what was happening around.
He sighed looking at the red glass frames held by the infant. As soon as they reach the city, they have to buy her some real toys... Although of all the things that were in the hideout, the glasses seemed the least harmless. Not to mention the fact that taking them from an infant was almost impossible. He could only be grateful that Karin decided to give up her spare pair of glasses. As well as everything else she had done for his family in those three months.
“You also take care of yourself and, most of all, look after them” she added at the end, when she finished saying goodbye to his wife.
“Hn” replied correcting the position of the child in his arms ”Thank you ... For everything you have done for us” he added, making Uzumaki temporarily stunned.
“Uh, I owe my life to Sakura-chan after all. It's nothing special that I helped you ... Well, it doesn't matter, you have to go, otherwise you won't reach the inn before dark. Bye” she replied, returning to the hideout.
"Bye” replied pink-haired waved goodbye “Ready to go?" she asked smiling at him and the sleeping baby.
“Hn.”

Hii~! Can I request hc, warlods reaction to MC who love sweets badly? I mean, she really really REEALLLYY LOVE SWEETS! Could you do for Uesugi-Takeda forces? Thank you~ 💕💕 I hope u have a nice day (*´ω`*)
thank you, i hope you have a wonderful day as well!
shoutout to the u-t forces for having generally like 3 less members than the oda, makes life easier :heart:
‎‎
—shingen:
the thing that he could’ve noticed about you first time you met, looking back, was that your love of sweets were obvious from the way you came out of the teahouse with a very satisfied expression. oh, and that you were carrying a bag of candies (which would spill when you bumped into him).
but ever since he’s taken you hostage, you’ve retracted yourself from revealing much about you. understandably so.
still, shingen is very methodical in his prodding at your heart, easing it up and eventually letting some things spill overtime. and one of those methods, of course, is to bring you down to kasugayama’s festive town.
he’s brought up the alternative of, you lose the game if you smile at him, but your stubborn ass said no. now you’re forced to suffer as you bite your lip and not smile as the beauty of kasugayama seeps in.
and shingen watches with delight; not at your indirect suffering, but more of the beauty of how you manage to be so magnificent without smiling.
because, it’s the way your eyes are filled with stars, it might as well be a galaxy’s worth. because, it’s the way your legs seem to float seamlessly from stall to stall, like an innocent child. because, it’s how your hand reaches out to his wrist and lightly tug on it; and it somehow makes him feel as light as feather for you to pull him along.
yet, each time, you retract.
he sees the way you try to restrain yourself from expressing too much when you order practically every single dessert on the menu. he sees how you cover up your face as you scarf down the plates of sweets.
after that, he’s noted to buy some candy or anything to give you.
(and by that he spoils you absolutely ROTTEN you’re lucky you haven’t had a cavity by now)
(^ also serves as an excuse sometimes with yukimura. not that he lets him off much)
you yourself quickly learn about his own liking for sweets, and now you have this sort of alliance to avoid the scolding of yuki. such entails sneaking snacks to each other all the time.
—yukimura:
he’s noticed a pattern, early on, when about 80% of the time you drag him out of his booth, it’s to a teahouse. hell, he even recommends some during your early days in azuchi.
it’s when it becomes so frequent that he starts to scold you and try (mostly end up failing) to minimize your sweets consumption.
in his defense, he thought you were trying stuff out! he says to himself as you order every single item off the list.
again, it doesn’t take long until he sighs and starts pulling you away, slightly berating you on eating that much desserts in the span of a week. his lord is shingen; he’d know how to deal with you.
it’s weird, in a sense. he’s taken the role of an awkward yet caring caretaker when it comes to watching your eating habits. it’s gone from just reminding you each time you drop by his booth (to which you respond with a lighthearted roll of the eyes), to sometimes trailing you once you got closer just so you can’t sneak off on his watch.
and of course, trademark to your bond, it didn’t take long for you two to start bickering about which dessert is better. mugwort mochi vs. chestnut dumpling but on a bigger scale; since you both rarely have the same rankings of the sweets on the list.
you’ve tried the puppy eyes strat a couple of times. in your victory, you did manage to make him sputter and look away, all flustered and caught off guard, but you didn’t get your candy at the end of it :pensive:
strangely enough, at first he could get through and answer you clearly, even if it’s very grumbly. but now, he’s devolved to simply muttering under his breath incoherently as his hand covers his burning cheeks. weird, that hasn’t happened before, you think.
of course, there are some times when he allows you to splurge, such as in festivals and all. it’s too much, the way you look at the special food everywhere with stars in your eyes and drool almost dripping.
(and he himself will admit, he’d be a partypooper if he completely denied you of that enjoyment. if he’s enjoying how absolutely happy and cute you are no he is not what are you talking about)
—kenshin:
you were taught from a young age to always thank someone, whether it’d be simply words, or even an item to show your gratefulness.
however, you don’t,,, exactly know what to do when someone saves your life.
extreme whiplash and shock, you can say. it isn’t just someone helping you with your task, or retrieving something you forgot in your classroom; no, you could’ve been dead if no one intervened.
currently, you’re in the stage of trying to process all that happened and just sitting there, dumbfounded, but you knew you had to do something before the man who saved you walked out the building.
without any time to think twice about it, you grabbed your plate and ran.
you barely manage to catch up to him, and only because you caught a glimpse of him from the corner of your eye, turning to a dark alley.
“hey!” you shout, loud enough to attract attention from others, but apparently not the man himself. you could feel the cold energy radiating from his back the more you approach, yet you can’t back down.
you shout to gain his attention again, and you do. the moment the blonde turns around, his sharp eyes laying on you, it was like cold metal pressed against your body.
but you’ve gone too far, and if you just sputtered and went back, it’d be more embarrasing. you thrust your tray of varying sweets sprawled on it to him, “th-thanks for saving my life back there!”
.. and all you can pick up from his reaction is eyebrows knitted in a certain sense that you’re bugging him, but also slight confusion. “i don’t want your thanks,” he says, “and i don’t need your desserts.”
“i don’t care,” you huff in response, “just take it; i’d feel indebted to you if i didn’t do anything.”
yet as you say that, kenshin can see himself the way your hands slightly tremble, as if there’s a difference in what your mind wants with what your body wants, as you give him your tray, and the way your brows pull down a bit, and most importantly, the way your eyes waver.
because in truth. . .you’d die before you give anyone the sweets you want to eat for yourself, but he saved your life!
kenshin doesn’t want to be bothered anymore, and you’re much too stubborn, so he just accepts it with a deep frown.
but soon once he meets you again in sasuke’s presence, and finds your company in a teahouse,,, weirdly pleasant. even if it was just drinking sessions.
though your tastes lean heavily to the sweet sake, he also finds the fact that you have opinions on how different some sake tastes in the slightest sensations, and while he feels that he’d be annoyed if another person did it. . .something felt nice about you rambling and ranking sakes and general desserts in azuchi.
skip to the relationship, mf would spoil you, going back to even when you were held captive. each day then, he’d bring you sweets, every time different and from different teahouses. it’s when sasuke managed to convince him that he’ll kill you by sugar overdose (despite how much you like it).
and now he still; the most frequent places you go out on a date to is, you guessed it, a tea house. or maybe he brought some desserts to just sit on the porch and watch the blazing sun set.
—sasuke:
man has a sharp sense of observation for people to achieve ultimate Socializing, to compensate for his lack of ability to express himself. such is the case when he sees you gasp excitedly and then promptly apologies and (try to) shut up when you pass a dessert booth when he shows you around azuchi.
and he decides to test out this theory, also in an effort to make you more comfortable and relaxed in the sengoku period.
so he does; always leaving you a pack of candies and the like each time he sneaked into the castle, or sometimes when you go down to yukimura’s booth.
soon, he’d be proven right. you always thank him profusely, snatching away the treats so excitedly, like a child. your eyes always shine so brightly, overflowing with happiness as you munch away, sparing no patience nor impulse control in eating every one.
(which would lead to the disappointment that appears on your face as you realize that you’d eaten everything, and that nothing else)
before, he always just,,, bought the desserts at a teahouse. but lately, although you don’t know it most of the time, he begins asking the owner how the do it, the steps of making a certain dish. his charisma sure goes a long way, despite how his face remains stoic and serious.
yukimura is often the witness for this, and he’s always confused each time. sasuke never really showed an interest in cooking or anything, as far as he knows. . .
unfortunately, it isn’t him that ends up finding the reason. it’s you, instead.
once he manages to worm himself inside the azuchi castle to see you, and gaining the trust of certain prominent warlords (mostly hideyoshi), he eventually got permission to enter the kitchen.
again, you didn’t even know where he went. all you heard was from the passing maids that told you they saw him heading in there.
which. . .piqued your interest, but each time you wanted to check, you always had other things you had to do.
but soon, you’d find out what the ninja was up to.
one day, while you were sewing in your room, your nose immediately sniffed out the sweet smell of. . .something familiar.
you perked up in excitement and a bit of confusion. the shadow on the other side of the paper door gave you more hope.
and it slid open, revealing a sasuke with a tray in his hand, and a strange soft gaze in his eyes, “i knew you’d’ve recognized the smell, you truly like these, don’t you?”
his hand sets down the tray gently, and the warm waft of sweet and rich scent floods in your nose. and quickly, you recognize what’s on the tray in the first place.
desserts, but not just any ol’ one. treats and candies made from your home place. a silent gaso broke from you, as you marveled in the dish that you didn’t think you’d see this soon.
“some ingredients had to be improv’d from the lack of variety in those, but,” you look up, and you see that his lips pull into the tiniest bit of a proud smile, “i thought that it’d make you feel a bit like home.”
you sat there, mouth parted slightly and eyes widened, filled with disbelief. chuckles broke through, and you jumped at him, enveloping him in a big hug, “thank you so much, sasuke!!”
you don’t see it, while you’re too busy laughing and wrapping your arms around him tightly. but his expression softens in a way never before, a small dust of pink lighting his cheeks as he breaths out a chuckle and pats your back, “anytime.”

Spoilers: There are some spoilers here, one of them being really important for Kenshin’s character development and to better understand him.
Word Count: 1700+
Description: F!MC has been feeling depressed and suicidal lately and Kenshin isolated her due to his jealousy problems, leaving her with no other option to escape her darkness, but taking her own life and breaking his fragile heart.
Enjoy!
It was hard to face life these days... It wasn’t the first time she had felt like giving up. Even before she travelled 500 years back into the past and found the love of her life, those thoughts were like an annoying guest to her, coming and going as they wished. Back in the future it was alright, times were much more peaceful and she could go to any of her friends or to her family, sometimes even seeking professional help. But now… Now her family wasn’t even born and her friends were mostly his enemies, enemies of the one person she was ready to call her own world, Kenshin Uesugi, the man who had imprisoned her heart, body and destiny.
Nothing particularly bad happened, she just woke up one day and felt… empty. It haunted her from when she was a teen, ever since she lost herself because she wasn’t like other girls on Instagram... She didn’t know how to express her emotions, that was one thing she always struggled with. And being with Kenshin didn’t help her with that.
Kenshin had his own demons that haunted his mind. They left his dreams after she had helped him, but he was still helping himself and couldn’t help her. That’s why she was really happy when she had a chance to see Shingen and Yukimura. Shingen was wiser and older and dealing with his own demons so he could always spare some advice or lend a hearing ear which was helpful to her. She could barely go anywhere alone to scream and release every damned emotion she felt, so she’d find her antidote in her friend Yukimura. Yuki would always bring a smile to her face and to that she was very grateful.
But that bugged Kenshin. He was sickly jealous and didn’t want them to hear her beautiful voice, to smell her beautiful scent, to fell her warm embrace as they hugged her to make her feel better, but he couldn’t be there for her. He was a busy warlord with many enemies. So, the only way to stop those haunting voices in his head was to cut them off. He asked his once arch enemy and his vassal to never show up again or there will be a problem. Shingen understood the hidden motive behind his threatening request, he was painfully aware of his demons and didn’t want his friend that he cared about so deeply going down that damned spiral of self-destruction again. So they retreated back to their own land, silently apologizing to her in their heads.
With no one there for her anymore, a new wave of hopelessness washed over her leaving her in even worse state, but like a sign from any gods there are, Sasuke, her buddy from the future, was there with her. He was a busy man, after all he was Kenshin’s employee, his own ninja, but he could always find the time for her, because she was the reason he endured all those four long years of ninja training, only hoping to meet her again and be able to help her. And even if their plans have changed, they were still in this together. Sasuke would listen to her and help her, even whrn she was at her lower points, when she was too close to the rock bottom, he would be with her. He could see her pale face and how much skinner she had become in the last months compared to a year ago when she first arrived in this time period. She didn’t eat properly, she didn’t sleep enough and those thoughts, anxiety and stress were eating her from inside out, she even left her job as the seamstress and decided to sit out her days on the veranda, looking out at the miserable garden that was once full of beautiful flowers with prickly thorns that made her bleed and hurt Kenshin.
Kenshin was once again hurt by her relationship with Sasuke and he didn’t hesitate to pull his trusty sword Himetsuru-Ichimonji on him. He cared for Sasuke, deeply, but he couldn’t shut those horrible, distorted voices in his head that were growing louder by second, telling him the curse and blessing that followed him. He could not be harmed and killed in battle, but everyone around him that he cared and loved ended up getting hurt or dying out of his reach to help them. It was eating him inside out, leaving behind only a shell of a man he once was or could be and a glass heart in his chest, hard to break, but once broken, hardly put together again, slowly killing him…
Sasuke was forbidden from seeing or touching her, only if she was in immediate danger and Kenshin wasn’t there to run to her aid. That broke her, leaving her with barely any hope, not strong enough to outshine the darkness in her mind and soul anymore. With all her loved ones now abandoning her or being forbidden to see her due to the side she chose, she was almost completely alone. There was one last chance to stop it all, to prevent the turmoil that was coming.
She had been alone for a week now, looking for a way to punish herself for being so weak without hurting Kenshin. She looked at that dagger she received from Oda forces before she departed from them in case she ever needed to save herself. ‘Should I do it?’ was her thought as she stared at its blade, pressing it to her fingertip, testing it’s sharpness. It could easily slash someone’s throat in an instant without much pressure applied, she was sure of that as she almost cut her finger and dealt another punch to Kenshin’s still fragile heart. Healing process was never going to be easy, if she wasn’t aware of that before, she was now. She just hoped it would be quicker, but she knew better than to rush him and risk all the progress, all the baby steps they made, going down the drain…
She snapped out of it when she heard the footsteps down the hall, announcing the early return of her healing lover. She frantically hid the dagger. Making sure she doesn’t cut herself, for the sake of both of their sanity. He greeted her as he slid open the door, shutting it behind him when he saw her face with a plastered smile. She is glad he was home in one piece, but she couldn’t find a way to really smile again. Kenshin must’ve been tired because he sat on the futon waiting for her to come and cuddle with him, but she was holding herself back. Maybe she should just talk to him about her demons, he promised to protect her all his life after all. ‘Yeah, I should just talk to him, I love him. He deserves to know what’s going on.’ However when she saw that beautiful true smile on his face when he hugged her, placing an affectionate kiss on top of her head, she lost all her courage to tell him and risk losing this happy Kenshin she loved so much more than his sad side.
That proved to be a fatal mistake on her part.
She couldn’t fight her monsters when it was too dark for her to see ahead anymore. The last light of hope extinguished its flame and left her completely alone and lost, this time with no resort to turn to. The antidote was now useless, nothing could save her. She was too far gone. She finally broke.
She was standing in the middle of her room, finally wearing the kimono she sewed last night using the fabric the Oda clan sent her, the fabric Kenshin would rip off her and burn out of his jealous rage. She wrote him a letter, explaining her thoughts in the best way she could and begging him to not blame himself. This time, it was completely her mistake because the only one getting hurt was him. She took a deep breath and muttered an apology under her breath before she slit her wrist, deep, causing her blood to splatter everywhere, quickly leaving her body. Sasuke was worried about her and he finally found some time to meet her with Kenshin being occupied hunting down some bandits in town. He silently slid into her room and saw a horrifying sight…
There she was, wobbling on her legs, losing conciseness by seconds, he froze to the spot, only to see her holding a bloody dagger with a pained smile on her face. He had to act quickly, he ran to her side, tying a piece of fabric around her wrist doing anything to try and stop the bleeding and, in an instant, he was out in the hallway, running towards the medic’s room, begging her to keep her eyes open and stay with him, he couldn’t lose her when he could’ve helped her. After dropping her of there he practically fell backwards down on to the floor, still covered in her blood and running his hands through his hair, drowning in unbearable guilt. His usually stoic expression was now painted with hurt.
Vassals learned about this and Kenshin was soon brought back to his castle, demons running wild in his mind. ‘What the hell was she thinking? How could I let that happen? Why was fate punishing mr once again, wasn’t the first time enough?? Wasn’t Isehime enough of a punishment for me??!’
But nothing could bring Isehime back… He is the one responsible for her death… He failed to protect his first love from himself and his damned curse that still kept him alive, only to torture him more…
Few hours passed that felt like they were years, he couldn’t bring himself to go to her side now, not when she was still ragging her war, fighting, the only question was to die or to survive. She may thought this was the best way to hurt him, one quick and hard punch to that glass in his chest, but it was the worst torture he could imagine. She was still visible, dying out of his reach. He sat at the veranda where she spent so many nights with her demons, downing bottles of sake, one after the another, and poured himself another cup, the one brewed in Azuchi, one he shared with her. Now it lost its special taste all of a sudden, causing him to push it off the table and shatter into millions of pieces, just like his heart when the final blow was finally delivered… One of those shards from his heart must've flew and stuck in her wrist, deepening the cut and therefore preventing the blood from stopping...
But, sadly, blood can’t piece broken glass back together…
The end.

I think something so fundamental to Naruto as a story is the fact that Naruto and Sasuke’s individual journeys in relation to Konoha—as a system and as a collective of people—are always going to send them in opposite directions. Like I realize that a lot of fans (including me, at times) wanted anything but angst for them as a conclusion, after all that they went through, but in doing so I think people ignore something undeniable about the story itself. As the story progresses, Konoha becomes a home to Naruto, and a source of exile to Sasuke. More under the cut!
The problems I have with Naruto’s post-canon—Chapter 700 and onward—lie mostly in the idea that Sasuke is willing to bend and cater to this system that:
manipulated his brother into massacring his whole family,
isolated him as a result of that massacre, fixing his hatred on a singular point with no thought to how that situation could easily spiral, which it did,
provided him with no knowledge as to why that massacre actually occurred,
and when he did find out the reason, lead him to realize that Konoha was a village that had never wanted him to begin with, that he had been spared solely because his brother loved him that much (but even then, that love wasn’t without consequence, and it was manipulated by the background intentions of Konoha’s elite),
and, regardless of all these facts, continued to alienate and criminalize him rather than help or address his trauma and his very valid reasons for rage aimed at the village.
Do I agree that there were better ways for Sasuke to go about his intentions once he recognized Konoha’s elite for the scum of the earth that they were? Sure. But I also think it’s important to recognize that he was incredibly destabilized as a child, and it’s amazing, because for some people this is a very hard thing to understand? I think fandom doesn’t realize the difference in the words ‘justified’ and ‘explained’. Were all of Sasuke’s actions in canon justified? Maybe not (although a lot were). Were all of his actions well explained by his trauma? Honestly, yeah.
So to circle back to the point that I am trying to make—it’s true that during Part I, he grew very close to Team 7, and for a brief moment in time, these relationships were like a lifeline for him. But think about it—is a connection that you hold to three people enough to keep you in a village where you hardly feel connected to the rest? This is only a mild issue for Sasuke at the end of Part I; he doesn’t feel very connected to most people in Konoha, but at best, they’re just annoying background noise, trivial obstacles in the face of his goal to hunt down and murder Itachi.
By the end of Part II, however, it’s overwhelmingly integral to his situation. Over the course of his journey, he’s come to learn that Konoha as a system always viewed him—his family—as a potential threat. His life was spared by his brother, but even that came with consequences and orders orchestrated by Danzo and co.; add onto that the chaos that he wrecked once he was free of Orochimaru’s tutelage, and you have a person who didn’t just alienate himself from his village, but who was alienated by that village in turn.
It just makes so much sense to me that he leaves at the end of Chapter 699, because while he obviously cares deeply for Naruto and Sakura, is it really realistic to imagine him staying there just for them? What would he do, and what purpose would staying there serve him? This village rendered his entire life a lie, trivialized his existence, and traumatized him as a result. Aside from his connection to Naruto, by the end of the manga, Sasuke is purposeless. For someone whose entire arc is propelled by hate and sadness that stems from a very specific purpose, he ends up in this strange, sort of in-limbo space. . .
. . . which is why I actually like the idea that he decided to go on a journey for himself. It’s why I like the Blank Period notion of him being this forever traveler who drops in on occasion to help when circumstances are dire. It’s a good balance for him. In the fast-forwarded post-canon, however, we see that he’s essentially become a more child-friendly Itachi equivalent—he’s signed his life away to forever protect Konoha from behind the scenes, despite the fact that it comes at the cost of him neglecting his own family, and for the sake of a populace that for the most part does not care for him. It just feels like such a cruel way for his story to come full circle, after everything that he went through, because as much as he loves Naruto, Sasuke admitting to loss is more an acceptance to let love in, in full, and to let it guide him over the hatred he’d harbored in his heart for so long. That doesn’t have to be equivalent to submitting himself to Konoha—it just means that he should allow himself to prioritize his own needs and desires, rather than let anyone else’s evil or trauma guide him, as it has for the whole story.
And actually, that notion, to me, is what made Naruto’s character progression and ending make a lot of sense in comparison. He is someone who constantly strove for heartfelt connection to others, despite the pain and rejection that it could very often inflict on himself. In many ways, it was a dangerous way to think, and he often came off as naive(, which Naruto as a story is plenty criticized for, because it easily runs counter-intuitive to any sort of worthy political commentary on the series), but it also made him a very hopeful and independent person. He didn’t allow what others thought of him or inflicted upon him to guide his thinking, and he was very much someone who prioritized his own heart over the malice of others.
So naturally, Naruto always ran in a direction opposed to Sasuke as a result of this thinking—and we know this. Befriending and changing the people around him for the better was what propelled Naruto more than anything, and it’s why Konoha ended up as a home for him despite everything it and its people did to discourage and put him down. He had to go to ridiculous lengths to prove himself, and in many ways it was cruel to realize, but he also formed so many valuable relationships along the way. Like, his relationship with Sasuke obviously takes precedence, because it is the foundation and catalyst for everything, but I don’t really agree with people who view Naruto’s dream of becoming Hokage as an obstacle to that bond. I actually feel like those were goals that ran in parallel for him. And I mean, he even says it, doesn’t he? How is he supposed to become Hokage if he can’t even bring back this one friend from darkness. It just resonates so much to me that by the end of the story, Naruto is someone actually prepared to take on the mantle of Hokage—because he understands other people’s pain, and he runs with it, and he is insistent upon making the people around him love themselves because he knows how miserable he was as a child hardly able to love himself.
In that sense, Chapter 699 is, to me, a really great chapter. I think it captures that forever diverging dichotomy between him and Sasuke perfectly. Naruto is a story equally about Naruto making a home for himself in Konoha as it is about Sasuke freeing himself from the same village’s shackles. True, there is this intense, deeply rooted love that they are always going to have for each other, but that love is something that runs alongside their own personal feelings and ambitions, rather than against it. I think people get caught up in the idea that a happy ending for them has to mean that they’re together together, but to me there’s a certain poetry in them going their own separate ways. Konoha is no longer a home for Sasuke (if it ever was, even a little), but that relationship to Naruto and Team 7 will forever be important to him and influence him wherever he goes; and Konoha has become a home for Naruto, but it’s also with the peace of knowing that Sasuke won’t ever succumb to the darkness of others again, and will love himself first.
So, tldr; I think the notion of Naruto ending with Naruto and Sasuke going their separate ways is kind of ingenious, because it ties deeply into what Konoha means to each of them by the end of it. This isn’t me saying that I think they’re never going to see each other again—I just don’t think the conclusion to their individual arcs has to be in opposition to what their relationship means to them. They can continue to be intensely important to each other, while prioritizing their own hopes and dreams. That’s the beauty and tragedy of their relationship to me. (Chapter 700, who?)

Here is my next entry for Day 4 of @naruto-fantasy-week! I went with the prompt “Japanese Folklore” because I wanted to do something with the conflict between the Sun Goddess and Moon God and how their bloodlines influenced imperial monarchies from opposite kingdoms and what would it take to bring two opposing nations together (albeit begrudgingly). I had to prevent this idea from running away with me and focused on a small section in Itachi and Sakura’s courtship. That way, I could actually finish the little fic in time. XD
Fanfic title comes from the song “Sun and Moon” from the Broadway musical “Miss Saigon”. And yes, I was not trying to be creative with kingdom names. I just went with good ole “Solar” and “Lunar” because the names worked. XD
Summary: With the bloodline of the Sun goddess running through their veins, the Uchiha dynasty had reigned over the land for endless decades. But their power has waned, the populace no longer adores them like they used to, and opposing kingdoms watch and wait for their decline. Now, the imperial family is desperate and the only way to cement their power is to marry one of the imperial sons off to someone who has the bloodline of the Moon God, the brother and foe of the Sun Goddess. Naruto Fantasy Week, Day 4. Prompt: Japanese Folklore. [Itachi x Sakura]

“Love, that is all the earth to lovers—love, that mocks time and space,
Love, that is day and night—love, that is sun and moon and stars,
Love, that is crimson, sumptuous, sick with perfume,
No other words but words of love, no other thought but love.”
 — Walt Whitman, The Mystic Trumpeter
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The midday heat continued to beat down on the guards and servants who attended to their duties in the open foyer, where a cooling, welcoming breeze managed to infiltrate the open windows and doors and alleviated some of the humidity plaguing its working inhabitants. Sakura could already feel her inner layers soaked with sweat, cleaving to her body like a sticky second skin. Small tendrils of her hair plastered to the back of her neck and along the outline of her forehead, also damp from perspiration. Her chief lady-in-waiting, Ino, already had to reapply her blush and lipstick, knowing how much Emperor Fugaku, ruler of the Solar Kingdom, would judge the Crown Princess of the Lunar Kingdom, for simply sweating on a hot summer day after he kept her waiting for over a half hour.
The princess sensed the reason for the delay and inwardly, Sakura was fuming at the blatant disrespect the Emperor, even now, was showing her. It was well known the Uchihas boasted having the blood of the Sun Goddess flowing in their veins, granting them divine rule over their subjects and they always looked down scornfully at those who were heralded to be descendants of the Moon God, the brother and rival of their precious Sun Goddess. But the last few decades, mayhap century, was not kind to the Uchiha rulers, as many of the Uchiha men (and sometimes, women) who succumbed to the unspoken but well known disease called ‘Mangekyō Madness’, reducing the afflicted into a bitter, paranoid mess cursed with blindness and rife with contempt for other clans, especially the so-called inferior ones. Everyone around them became an enemy to vanquish or subdue and usually, there was no cure or chance to regain sanity if the healers hadn’t taken steps previously to mitigate the effects of the illness. There were rumors this madness struck the Uchihas because of a crime one of their ancestors committed, Uchiha Madara, when he almost successfully wiped out the Senju clan to expand his kingdom’s territory. The Senju clan never forgot nor forgave the Uchihas for that massacre, especially since emperors after Madara vehemently denied the Uchihas were a part of such carnage and that Madara acted alone and was considered a ‘blight on Uchiha sun’.
And thus, the imperial prestige slowly declined and now, Emperor Fugaku faced a dilemma: an unhappy, discontent populace, and watchful neighboring nations who were sharpening their weapons and honing their political strategy to see how much longer the Uchiha dynasty would last. Fugaku needed a strong alliance, once cemented by the bonds of marriage. So he begrudgingly entered negotiations with the Emperor of the Lunar Kingdom, Sakura’s uncle. Both parties agreed Sakura, the uncontested heir of her uncle’s great country, would marry one of the Emperor’s sons when she came of age. Such a celestial marriage would not only bring two mighty, prospering nations together but also join two royal bloodlines blessed by divinity.
Sakura was thirteen when she caught wind of these negotiations and decided it would be her that decides which Solar prince she’d marry, not her uncle or her future father-in-law. And when the imperial family from the Solar Kingdom arrived a few months after her fourteenth nameday, Sakura began to enact her plan.
Many of her entourage believed she would pursue the younger son, who was her age, but even though he was cannily pretty (most Uchiha were), Sakura cared not for his cold stares and the way he ignored everyone else if conversing with them was beneath him. He treated her best friend Ino brusquely when she tried to engage in several casual conversations to learn more about his character for Princess Sakura’s sake. Her final report on the second prince was less than glowing. There was that and the fact Ino swore to the Moon God that she witnessed him whispering in Karin’s ear, a medical apprentice who served the Uchiha family, and the girl kept blushing and smirking, taking the chance to suggestively stroke the young prince’s arm before he brushed her off to resume training. Even if there was nothing going on between them, Sakura sensed any relationship with him was doomed to fail. So she focused her attention on the older brother, Itachi.
Sakura smiled to herself as she recalled the first time she and Itachi encountered one another. It was a formal setting, a simple tea ceremony and later, a meeting for her uncle, Itachi’s father, and the ambassadors to discuss treaties and politics. Sakura found herself seated next to Itachi, the Crown Prince. Their discussion was, at first, cordial, ranging from her inquiring about how his stay in the Lunar Kingdom was faring and him saying he was enjoying the various landscapes he saw during his sojourn. Eventually, she learned he suffered from an unknown but not fatal physical ailment, which left him exhausted and tired often. In light of this information,  Sakura then recommended several teas with medicinal properties that would help boost his strength and energy if he drank them regularly. Three days later, Itachi returned to her to thank her personally for her sage advice, saying the teas she suggested were already showing some promise, and asked if she wanted to take a walk around the royal gardens and give him a tour. With a pleased grin on her face, Sakura whole-heartedly accepted, relieved to see Itachi was nothing like his younger brother, for simply being around the Solar heir put her nerves at rest and she soon found how easy and relaxing it was to talk to Itachi.
By the time Itachi had to return home, they already agreed to exchange letters to one another to continue their budding friendship. For four years they secretly exchanged letters back and forth, the friendship slowly melting into a clandestine romance, to the point they both vowed the moment Sakura entered the Solar Kingdom and stepped on soil from the imperial castle, the two of them would wed in secret. They couldn’t take a chance to leave the decision of Sakura’s groom up to Emperor Fugaku, for he was more partial in giving his second son, the spare, to the Lunar Princess because he believed his heir deserved a far more rewarding match. And to quell the rumors that Sasuke no longer had eyes for the noble girls his father tried to parade in front of him and was far more interested in a wandering, compassionate hedgeknight who often rescued or offered his services to the commonfolk amidst the Uchiha lands. He possessed eyes like the ocean blue and hair the color of the golden sun itself and Emperor Fugaku refused to let him on Uchiha grounds.
Within her first week in the Solar Kingdom, Sakura and Itachi were wed, their only other witnesses besides the presences of the Sun Goddess and the Moon God, the imperial family’s kannushi (who was entrusted to bless and formally bind the lovers together in a legal marriage), were Sakura’s chief lady-in-waiting and best friend, Ino, and Itachi’s cousin and confidante, Shisui. Her wedding night with Itachi was pure bliss and now that they were officially husband and wife, they had planned to break the news to the emperor tomorrow morning.
Itachi went in first, knowing best how to pacify his father’s rage once he realized his original schemes were thwarted. He was also prepared to carefully explain to Emperor Fugaku why this matrimonial choice would suit all parties–Fugaku in particular. From her previous encounters with that rigid, unyielding ruler, Sakura suspected her father-in-law was the type of man who didn’t appreciate when events didn’t go his way or would balk at the idea of admitting that he made a mistake either in his reign or on his judgment.
The doors leading inside the palace burst open and Itachi smoothly strolled out, the force of his gait causing his dark ponytail to swing around and collide with his left shoulder before resting there. Itachi’s expression remained stolid but the concern and disappointment marked in his obsidian eyes carried enough emotion and information for Sakura to surmise that Itachi’s conversation with his father did not go well at all.
“Sakura, I am so sorry to have kept you waiting,” he apologized, grasping both of her hands to kiss them, his gaze never leaving hers. Sakura’s ire at her father-in-law steadily ebbed away, savoring Itachi’s touch and sweetness in their private, intimate moment together. “My father refused to come and greet you as my wife, and declared we are to be banished for a few months for marrying without his permission. He also rebuked me for falling prey to your wily charms.” He spoke the last part wryly and Sakura tossed her head back to laugh at the absurd accusation. Of course Fugaku would lay the blame squarely at her feet, for not falling in line and waiting to wed his second son simply so the Solar Emperor could feel far more superior over her and the Lunar Emperor. He may be hailed as a fierce warrior and shrewd monarch, but he also was such a petty man.
“Banishment away from your father and all those prying, sneering nobles at court, where we can be left alone to our own devices?” Sakura mused drolly out loud, leaning in to plant a loving kiss on her husband’s cheek. “Are you sure the Emperor is punishing us?”
A half-smile spread itself across Itachi’s pale features, his eyes alight at her good humor. “He thinks you will be aghast to be away from such a pinnacle of power and influence and hopes when we return, you’ll be more of a demure, modest wife who will listen to his orders next time.” Both he and Sakura chuckled, imagining Fugaku’s future disappointment that his daughter-in-law was not so easily cowed.. “But we know that will never betide.”
“Of course not,” Sakura agreed, wrapping her hand around his as they sauntered out of the outside foyer and to the guest wings to pack all of Sakura’s effects before they started their journey to Itachi’s estates for their temporary exile. “If I was, then the Sun Goddess would never agree to our match during our covert marriage ceremony nor would have the Moon God made his presence known as well.”
“I, the Moon God, father of the great lineage belonging to the Lunar Kingdom, come before you all today to bless this joining between a man of the Sun and a woman of the Moon. Do not forget the courage and willpower you had to make this moment possible, you shall need when the crowns sit on both of your heads.”
“I, Amatersau, the famed Sun Goddess, mother of the grand lineage from the Solar Kingdom, am here before you all today to also bless this joining betwixt two mortals, one of the Sun and one of the Moon. Bring back the prestige to my royal line and let the next generation of Uchiha men and women be stronger than ever!”
The words of both sibling deities still echoed in Sakura’s mind, a wish they claimed that only a couple of their caliber would bring to fruition. The Moon God and his sister, the Sun Goddess, a pair that was always at odds with each other since the dawn of time, somehow had their goals aligned when it came to influencing and blessing the union of two mortals who carried their divine blood. Albeit Itachi and Sakura truly didn’t need the blessing of two deities to know the true power and love of their union, despite how awe-inspiring it was to hear the loud, imposing voices of both the Sun Goddess and the Moon God all around them. Even if no one outside their small matrimonial ceremony believed their account, the future for the two of them seemed fortuitous indeed.
“Are you ready to go to your new home, my beloved wife?” Itachi’s face softened as he spoke. Those kind, mesmerizing eyes of his often took on a subtle but nonetheless elated luster whenever he continued to refer to her as his wife, and right now was no exception. Sakura’s heart swelled up with a mixture of pride, joy, and love towards him. They were indeed fortunate and blessed to have found each other even under the shadow of an arranged marriage.
“Yes, darling husband, I am,” she replied, giving his hand an affectionate squeeze. After all, a several month banishment with simply Itachi and her together, managing their estates, while devoid of haughty in-laws and other Solar nobles, sounded like the perfect honeymoon.
SasuSaku Month 2019 Days 11, 14 and 22- Chills, Daydreams and Early Mornings
title: Living the Dream
summary: It’s just a normal, autumn morning somewhere near the Hidden-Grass, and as soon as she smells the scent of his coffee, she knows it’s going to be a good day. [Blank-Period, newlywed SasuSaku].
.
.
.
A cold breeze invades her room in the morning, and she already knows autumn will be quite chilly this year. It tickles the nape of her neck, traveling through the naked, silky skin of her back and all the way down to the soft curve of her ass. She feels the goose bumps shaking her bones in a way that almost elicits a sleepy moan from her throat, and her lips twist as she adjusts her head on the pillow. Her lazy eyes remain closed, refusing to welcome a new morning just yet, as she allows herself to enjoy that moment of pure bliss for a little longer.
Uchiha Sakura loves autumn mornings. She loves waking up to that cold caress that enters through the window, especially after a heated night of pure lovemaking with her husband. Her body still feels delightfully numb, a certain heat still pooling around her thighs, as his scent is still imprinted on the sheets beneath her. There’s a foolish smile decorating her lips, and even with that ring on her finger, she still feels like a teenager in love.
A very happy and satisfied teenager in love, for the record.
Her senses are slowly coming back to her, as the images of the previous night start to pop in her head, and it’s as if she can feel his hand all over her body once more. The pressure of his fingertips on her hips, his hot breath against the shell of her ear, the muscles of his back hardening under her hands with every, pleasant thrust. It’s even embarrassing to remember everything so vividly, and she feels her cheeks warming up a bit. Not a single one of her puerile fantasies could have prepared her for the reality of what is like to be married and in love to Uchiha Sasuke, as she is constantly learning new meanings for that every day.
It’s a wild adventure, for sure. Walking around the world, meeting new places, helping people, sleeping under the stars… It’s all very charming and exotic, and for newlyweds, well, it’s more than enough for them to be happy.
As sleep starts to fade from her body, her hands invade the other side of the bed, as in an automatic reflex to reach for her husband. Not surprisingly, though, her fingers grasp at nothing but the soft material of the sheets beneath her, and she already knows it’s not as early as she had originally thought.
Of course, he’s already up, she thinks, a sly smile decorating her lips. Not even after a whole day of tiring work can that man lie in for a little longer. He has always been an early riser— even during their younger days—, and even if she hated to wake up alone, at first, Sakura has now learned to enjoy the perks of not being the first to welcome a new day. He’s the one in charge of opening the windows, receiving the eventual letters from Konoha, and of course, preparing them something nice to eat…That’s certainly the best part of the day for her, and it’s all thanks to her husband’s hidden, domestic skills.
Oh, yes. If anything, Sasuke makes an excellent coffee in the morning. It’s strong, bitter and has a touch of cinnamon that feels like a warm and soft good-morning-kiss all over her body. Over the years, as a medic with a hectic schedule, Sakura has grown to depend on her daily doses of caffeine, to the point where she barely minds the taste anymore. Back in Konoha, she used to prepare enough just for herself every morning, leaving behind a single, dirty mug she would have to clean later. She would also get herself a couple of cups at the hospital cafeteria during her breaks, but now that they’re married and traveling together, well, he’s the one who brews it for both of them.
Now they prepare enough for 2 people and leave behind two, dirty cups instead of one. It wasn’t so hard to get used to that, and the fact that his coffee is simply delicious only adds up to the countless reasons why she loves him.
It doesn’t take much before that delightful aroma invades her nostrils, and she can already feel her caffeine addiction demanding for her daily dose. Lazily, then, she finally opens her eyes, their green color contrasting with the pink of her messy hair and the wooden furniture of the cottage they’ve been sleeping in since their arrival at the Hidden Grass. The music from the forest outside brings peace to her heart, and the sun light that enters through the windows kisses the mahogany floor, slowly warming up the cold, autumn day.
It’s gonna be a beautiful day, she knows.
And with one, last smile, the pinkette finally decides to leave the comfort of that bed.
She sits up, then, slowly moving her neck and feeling her short hair brushing the soft skin of her face. Her lips part to release a trapped yawn, and as she stretches her muscles, she can feel her bare body waking up all its senses. Sakura is fully up now, her feet walking around the room as she’s looking for some clothes to cover herself.
Both their ninja attires are still laying forgotten on the floor, and luckily, the first thing she finds is her underwear. Quickly, she finds a black sports bra near the bed’s foot, and after she gives up on trying to find her shirt— because who knows where the hell he tossed it last night—, Sakura opens her backpack to grab one of his old, black T-shirts he used to wear when they were genin. She puts it on, the hem falling just above her mid-thigh, and after running her fingers through her hair, her eyes catch her own reflection at the mirror that rests near the door.
She really looks like a child dressed like that, she thinks, a smile on her lips. Whenever she wears his old clothes, Sakura can’t help but be enveloped by an innocent and youthful feeling. They’ve come a long way since he last wore that shirt, and it’s inevitable for the memories of their adventures to pop up in her head. Good things, bad things, just things…A lot has happened in the past couple of years, and if anything, the seal that decorates her large forehead is enough to show her how much she’s grown.
She is a powerful ninja now. She’s confident about herself, she’s seen many new places, and she’s married the love of her life.
Sakura’s certainly blossomed into a beautiful woman. A small woman who wears her husband's old and comfortable clothes, sure, but a woman who’s living her dreams, nonetheless.
Her feet are now dragging her out of the room and towards the common area. For it’s a small cabin, it doesn’t take long before her eyes find him, and she feels her cheeks warming up in pure bliss. As expected, Sasuke is brewing some coffee for them, focused as he handles the boiling water. His mismatched eyes are serene and free from any hatred— like they have been for a while now—, and she can’t help but enjoy that view.
Uchiha Sasuke, one of the most powerful ninjas in the entire world, is using all of his skills just to make some coffee. He’s wearing his dark sweatpants and plain, white t-shirt; and his jet-black hair is softly falling forward to brush his cheeks. His sharp, angular chin makes his face look more mature, and she can’t help but remember how it feels to trace it with the tips of her fingers. He’s strong, handsome, and during their most intimate moments, he shows her he can be very, very—
“How long are you planning on just standing there and staring at me, Sakura?"
“Eh!?” His voice brings her back to reality, and she feels a bit embarrassed to have been caught like that, almost eating him alive with her eyes. Years ago, she would’ve probably fainted due to extreme embarrassment, but now, after spending so many moments together, she has learned how to let loose more around him and turn her silly embarrassment into something more.
"It’s starting to get creepy.”
“Creepy!? Shannarou…” She says, pretending to be offended as she walks towards him. “Can’t I just look at you for no reason? That’s what married people do, right? Unless you’re feeling intimidated, of course. If that’s the case, I can certainly stop.”
“Hn, as if.” He starts, a smirk lifting the corner of his lips. He’s adding a touch of cinnamon to the coffee, and the smells gets even better as it spreads around the room. “Stare as much as you want, then."
“I certainly will.”
“Tch.” He scoffs, only now sparing her a glance. “Of all the shirts you could have packed, you steal one of mine.”
“It’s not my fault if your old shirts are very comfortable and warm.” She starts, her face ridden of any expression. “Besides, if not for me, you would’ve thrown them away. I doubt it will fit you anymore.”
“Probably not...But just imagine the amount of sweat and dirt I was never able to wash from this.”
“Ugh, you’re disgusting, Sasuke-kun. Next time, then, I’ll ask Naruto for one of his old clothes.” She smiles teasingly when she says that, and he shakes his head in disbelief at her silly answer. Even if they both know this is just a joke, Sakura can’t help but to provoke her husband’s silly and jealous side.
Silently, then, the pinkette notices that he’s almost finished, and immediately, she picks up two mugs from the counter and places them next to him. Their eyes meet briefly as he looks left, nodding as to acknowledge and thank her for her small help, and carefully, he pours some of the hot beverage for them. They set it aside so it can cool off a bit, and she can’t help but feel a bit cheerful as she sees the steam dancing over the rim of the ceramic mug.
“You know…” Sakura starts again, plopping herself over the counter so their eyes are almost on the same level. Her legs dangle from the edge, and she notices when he takes a step closer when he adjusts his body to face her. “I just love the smell of your coffee. It’s always so strong.”
“Well, it has to be, or else it won’t wake you up.”
She smiles at his comment, carefully placing her hand on the warm mug to see if it’s already safe to drink. "You have a very good point there, Sasuke-kun.”
“Won't you even try to deny it this time?” He lifts an eyebrow at her, as he holds his own mug in his hand and starts to blow on it.
“Nope.” She giggles, finally picking up her own coffee and taking a sip. The liquid travels down her throat, warming up her insides and sending her jolts of happiness as it touches her taste buds. Chills run down her spine in pure pleasure, and she has to hold back the urge to let out a not-so-innocent moan. “Since I’m not really working under the hospital schedule right now, I don’t have to wake up that early anymore.”
“Tch, you say that as if you even sleep back home.” He smirks, taking a sip of his own coffee and she doesn’t miss the sensation of his left leg softly brushing hers.
“You woke up quite the funny guy today, huh, Sasuke-kun. Must have been a good night, right?” She teases, a knowing smirk hidden behind the mug that covers part of her face.
“Aa. You can say so…”
“Right…” She nods, taking another sip of her coffee. It always makes her happy to see him in a good mood, and personally, she feels proud of herself for that. "Well, as I was saying before you interrupted me, I don't have to wake up that early anymore, so I can wait for my dear husband to make me some of his delicious coffee.”
“I think I’m spoiling you too much.”
“Yeah…” She closes her eyes for a moment just before opening her left one to look at him. "Especially when you ask me to sleep in the woods with all those mosquitos and without hot water for weeks.”
“Hn.” He smirks. "Some people call it romantic.”
“Well, some people are insane.”
A soft smile is now gracing her lips as she takes yet another sip from her mug. In between all that peaceful teasing, a comfortable silence envelops them as they’re left to enjoy the moment. They’re all alone in a cottage in the middle of the woods, they’re young and they’re both just worried about how to properly appreciate a nice cup of coffee. Living in the woods has its perks, as they’ve learned, and even if Ino would probably call them old for doing that, well, Sakura couldn’t care less.
They have all the time in the world. They can drink their coffee alone, talk about nothing, read a book next to each other, take a walk in the middle of the night, make love under the moonlight…The options just seem endless when she stops to think about them.
They’re living a life away from everything and everyone that connects them to their chaotic routines back in Konoha; and even if she misses her family and friends a lot, Sakura is still not ready to go home. She’s still not ready to leave their own, private infinity.
After a while, the coffee in her mug runs out and she lets out a deep and excited sigh. She places the mug on the counter next to her right leg, and her pretty, green eyes are once more set on him. There’s a silly smile on her lips, and she doesn’t know if it’s because of the warm coffee or because of the happiness taking over her insides, but she can feel her cheeks getting warmer. “You know, Sasuke-kun.” She starts, licking her lower lip. “I’m still waiting for you to wish me a good morning.”
“Wasn’t the coffee enough already?” He says, placing his mug on the counter away from her.
“Almost.” She giggles, taking his hand in hers and softly pulling him a bit closer.
“Hn, you really are becoming a spoiled and annoying woman, Sakura.”
“Well…You’re the one to blame for that.”
“I probably am.”
“So…” She says, almost humming, carefully playing with his fingers.
“Tch.”
He scoffs, eventually giving in as his eyes meet her emerald ones. Sakura realizes he’s about to do what she wanted him to, and charmingly, she closes her eyes and starts to lean in. Her lips are slowly perked as she waits for his to meet her half-way, and it’s as if she can already feel their warmth pressed against her delicate skin.
She’s waiting for him to kiss her good-morning. She’s waiting for her husband to give in to one of the most common gestures between lovers in the world, and she truly believes that, this time, she’s gonna make it.
Sasuke is going to kiss her good-morning. He has to.
But when she doesn’t feel his lips against hers after at least 30 seconds, the pinkette knows there’s something off.
“Oi!” She starts, eyes still closed as she holds a certain hope. “Aren't you going to— Ouch!”
And so, in the middle of her ranting, she suddenly feels the pressure of his fingers against the center of her forehead. He did it with enough strength to slightly push her backwards, and she knows there’s a red mark decorating her skin on the spot he flickered his finger.
Of course, getting a kiss from her husband wouldn’t be so easy. He is Uchiha Sasuke, after all.
“You jerk!” She says, watching as he smirks at her, his hand now resting on his hip. “Would it have killed it you to be romantic for once?”
“And spoil you even more? Not gonna happen.”
“Tch.” She scoffs, crossing her arms over her chest. There’s a pout taking over her lips, and if anything, Sakura does look like a spoiled, little girl right now. “It was only a kiss…
“Hn. Stop being a child, will you?” He turns around, then, as he starts walking towards the hallway. "I’m taking a shower now. You can go as soon as you’re done with the dishes.”
“You're the worst, Uchiha Sasuke.” She says, knowing very well she doesn’t mean that at all. Her insides start to feel warm all over again for she clearly doesn't miss the invitation behind his words.
Her husband really is something, she thinks, trapping her lower lip between her teeth. Emerald eyes are still on him as he’s walking away, and eventually, they can’t help but travel down until they stop at his firm and round—
“And quit staring at me.” His words make her smirk, and somehow, they also make her happy to know her husband knows her that well. He can be an ass sometimes and his intentional lack of timing for a couple of things might drive her a little mad, but, well…His coffee is just too good to lose.
“Tch. Leave me alone, will you?” She smiles brightly, her eyes beaming in pure happiness.
“Good Morning to you, too, Sakura.”
a/n: Okay, this is the fluff no one asked for, but I wrote it anyway. I loved writing it and tried to make it quite relaxing, and I hope you guys could feel that, too. Also, these new Retsuden spoilers are killing me and it's destroyed my entire writing schedule. I've started writing something inspired by the new stuff, so let's see how it goes. Hope you've enjoyed it, and please, tell me what you think!
Mitsuhide’s Route and MC summary and commentary
Basically, the route flow. Spoilers. HAHAHA!  My tsundere self hates MC here. Just a personal preference. I wanted an MC who can outwit Mitsuhide and surprise him. But, on the other, as enlightened to me by @devilkingskonpeito, Hideyoshi’s MC is quite strong. And, it reminded me how she blackmailed Mitsuhide in the dungeon. And, by the end, Mitsuhide just attempts to tease her, and MC replied “You’re teasing me again!” And, it’s like a Brecht-like situation of stoping any emotional reactions. It doesn’t fulfill Mitsuhide’s purpose of teasing. This made me realize when Mitsuhide did not pursue his feelins. He is probably scared she could read her.  This is the reason why I like Hideyoshi’s route. MC is pretty strong and grounded. MCs affect how I enjoy a route.
I am on chapter 8 already. I really am hoping she changes a bit and be stronger in her own way. This is also the route where in MC doesn’t have her own sewing and designing thing, which is sad for me. I always admired her for being passionate on something. And, for her to not be able to do it  is sad.
So, yeah, 5 more chapters. Let’s see. I am still hoping for some change.
Again~  play the route. It’s a reader-response text. I respond this way as a player. LOL.
Mitsuhide is assigned to ‘take care’ of MC
Knowing in all routes that he is a sado-masochist. He forces to teach her many things: war history, horseback riding, shooting, and even basic fighting.  She whines each time or crying. (This is very interesting because one would assume that Mitsuhide is teaching her how to survive in war and what is the reality of it. Like, Masamune, Nobunaga, and Ieyasu.)
She’s brought in the war by Mitsuhide and saves her eventually.
She thanks him, and somehow she gets this glimpse that Mitsuhide hates violence.
MC becomes curious about Mitsuhide. Basically, she learned  that he’s quite a flirt. known as “Horereba Jigoku” or “A Hell to Fall in Love with.” The Samurai in the town has a negative opinion on him, questioning his loyalty to Nobunaga. Masamune even mentions to MC that Mitsuhide has a possibility to betray any of them. But, Masamune respects his wit and intellect. And, calling out MC’s excessive innocence.
MC accidentally sees Mitsuhide, one night, speaking to someone in the shadows. OF course, he chases MC who was going to report to Hideyoshi about her concerns.
Her sudden visit surprises Hideyoshi. On the verge of her confession, Mitsuhide appears in Hideyoshi’s manor. The two already begin to argue, Hideyoshi asking MC what really happened.
But, of course, MC digresses. And, she follows Mitsuhide to his manor.
In his manor, Mitsuhide shows MC her bag and begins to interrogate her.
She had no choice but to explain her situation. Mitsuhide says, that he will help her go back to her time and understands that each person does keeo a secret.
MC, who’s all tired, asks Mitsuhide if she can sleep and rest. He offers his lap.
The next day, a rumor spreads that Mitsuhide and MC slept together. MC is asking and whining to Mitsuhide to tell people off.
Mitsuhide tells Nobunaga and Hideyoshi he plans to make her his fiancee.
Nobunaga talks to MC alone and tells her to take care of Mitsuhide.
MC stares blankly. LOL
Mitsuhide drags her to a mission and they pretended to be husband and wife travelling entertainers.
She whines again about the situation of room sharing, but still doing it. Even doesn’t really protesting on Mitsuhide’s stolen kisses.
MC pushes Mitsuhide to be honest.
Mitsuhide tells MC that she is like Hideyoshi.  LOL
Eventually, MC was taken forcely one night by some samurai and brought to Yoshiaki Ashikaga as an offering.
MC protests and Ashikaga insults her, saying he doesnt want any random woman who doesnt have any social status. MC fights back on his cruel words, attempting to fight but knocked out.
Mitsuhide finds her on the same spot she was taken and asks her to tell her everything.
She cries (OKAY THIS IS LIKE A TRAUMATIZING EVENT, SO CRYING IS OKAY). And, she asks Mitsuhide to hug her in her sleep.
TBH, Mitsuhide is really a nice guy deep inside.
Next day, he teases her again and she whines out of annoyance. But eventually gives in to his instructions.
MC goes to the market and coicindentally meets Sasuke and Yukimura ---who were just travelling.
She tells them about Ashikaga and even about Yoshimoto.
The two left worried about the Yoshimoto and Ashikaga being in the same space.
Upon leaving, a hand pulls MC. UGH.
It was Yoshimoto. He said he was worried about her, upon seeing her in Ashikaga’s mansion.
Apparently, Yoshimoto was there.
During the festival, Mitsuhide told MC to perform alone while he does his thing as revenge to those who kidnap MC.
Comment: This is what Masamune said. Mitsuhide deliberately creates enemies for himself versus Hideyoshi’s negotiation approach.
Then, when they escaped to travel back to Azuchi. They rested in the field, flirting. UGH. Like, Mitsuhide was saying after tonight our husband-wife play is over. So, they were like flirting and kissing on the cheek. He teases her and she whines yet accepting that these are his teases.
Upon reaching Azuchi, the guards arrests Mitsuhide for the Honno-ji Incident. Mitsuhide, like in any other route, says nothing and relies on Kyubei.
Back in the hall, the rest of the warlords discuss about things. Nobunaga orders a death sentence to Mitsuhide, to which Hideyoshi begs back to reconsider. He is angry and does not believe the accusations. Masamune and Ieyasu calms Hideyoshi .
MC sneaks to the dungeon.. She saw Mitsuide all wounded since he was beaten up by guards. YES SHE CAN CRY HERE. IT’S A VALID REASON.
But, I did wish it made her a little mad or more strong willed to pull the truth from Mitsuhide.
Similar to Hideyohi’s route, he follows MC in the dungeon.
Hideyoshi, angry and frustrated on Mitsuhide, tells him off that he can’t even spare trust to him. He would like to believe that he is innocent. He punches him and says, he’ll pull out the truth from him. And, tells MC to leave with him.
This is the frustrating part in Mitsuhide he just asks MC to trust him, but he cannot trust her back.
That night Ieyasu told MC that Mitsuhide escaped. She was all agitated and wanted to go to him. Ieyasu calls her stupid and to just stay in his room, since the whole Azuchi is in chaos.
She cries in her room.
Then, Mitsuhide  appears from her window.
It’s such a mystical scene. The writers is selling Mitsuhide the ‘mystical creature”.
Basically, he’s there to say his goodbye and give her a hair accessory with the Akechi flower crest.
She cries again and Mitsuhide gives her a deep kiss.
The scene is really poignantm though.
But  how I wish she tried to keep herself a little stronger for Mitsuhide then shed tears as he kissed her. Because the hair accessory itself seals the romance that he loves her.
Mitsuhide bids goodbye and she asks, “ When is next time?”
She reminds of the ladies in Tale of Genji.
Mitsuhide is confronted by Masamune. This is an amazing scene. Mitsuhide is secretive and Masamune is always upfront and instinctive. Fox versus Tiger. Of course, Mitsuhide pulls a last trick  and leaves Masamune defeated.
Few days after, Ieyasu and Mitsunari reports to MC that Mitsuhide was able to escape.
Ieyasu commented if other lords hear you, you’re dead. Tbh, I really need Ieyasu’s bluntness in this route.
MC here lives in her Mitsuhide fantasy and idealism despite being shown the realities of war. She seems require protection like all the time.
Days passed and MC decides to visit Mitsuhide’s manor to check his things for clue. Seriously, MC was giddy here. Too giddy. Ranmaru joins her, mentioning he is curious as well But, of course, he’s doing this to report to Kennyo.
When they arrived, Kyuubei welcomed them and guided them to his room. There was nothing.
Ranmaru mentioned, it was as if he wanted to be accused by Oda Forces.
With nothing found, Ranmaru offers to buy sweet dango for the three of them.
Kyuubei asks MC to join him at the garden. Chimaki, the fox, arrives and MC pets her.
Kyuubei explains that Mitsuhide requested  to bring that hair accessory to the prison. And, wanted her to have it. He continues that it’s a special flower crest for the Akechi clan. (Haven’t checked the hanakotoba)
SHE CRIES AGAIN.
Upon her return to Azuchi Castle, Nobunaga calls her at the tenshuu. Hideyoshi and Masamune are there, too. Nobunaga says they will go to Kyoto to hunt the fox and MC needs to join.
