so a rundown of some of the re: dracula casting because they just scooped up some bigger names in british podcasting and i only learned about it because of the spooky archive podcast man

Felix Trench as Renfield, known for his role as Rudyard Funn from Wooden Overcoats. No notes, fucking great, thank you.

Beth Eyre as Lucy, known for many many things but her role as Antigone Funn from Wooden Overcoats is my personal favorite. Also, great vibes for the Bloofer Lady.

Karim Kronfli as Dracula, known for many many roles but for TMA fans that's Simon Fairchild babeyyyyy he's got a great voice, especially for someone who at the start is acting very polite and interested but will also crawl up walls like a lizard

Graham Rowat as someone somewhere in the cast, I mainly know him as The Owner from The Hotel (yeah he's definitely known for other things but yknow. he's really good in the hotel) and im hoping for weird guy who talks to Mina in the cemetery but ill take anything he's really fun

Alasdair Stuart as the captain of the demeter, known by many for both his podcast PseudoPod and of course for TMA fans, Peter Lukas. Just slap a sea captain hat on that guy.

Not as familiar with her, BUT:

Isabel Adomakoh Young as Mina, much more into the stage theatre and audiobook zone. Featured in the Heartstopper netflix adaptation, performs as a drag king, lots of credits I am not familiar with but focused strongly on queer performance and activism.

Giancarlo Herrera as Quincey, I know that he's a cowboy in Caravan which I have not listened to. But cowboy.

There’s something to be said for creating new storylines and switching up the plot, especially so it’s more digestible for television. 

It’s another thing to alter the plot so completely for “shock value” that it becomes something else entirely. And to change the characters’ personalities to the point where they are unrecognizable and quite frankly unlikeable at times.

I found it very easy to “go with the flow” and just be along for the ride during the first 7 or so episodes.

But these plot holes are exhausting and the lack of cohesion and closure for plot points they brought forth is annoying and make it difficult to enjoy the show.

I hope we get a season 2, and hope that the writers have more time to make quality plot lines while staying true to the characters we adore so much as fans. I have no doubt that it can be done, but they need to focus and stop trying to shock us every 10 minutes.

I love seeing Meredith and Rose gain respect for eachother as guardians and forming a friendship.

Rose starting off on a bad foot with the novices is such an interesting plot to see and it totally works. Rose's dhampir friendships bring me so much joy; especially with Meredith, one of the few other women training at the academy.

Can we talk about what Mason said to Meredith about her family leave? Like what are y’all’s theories bc I can’t think of anything she could be hiding??? I refuse to accept that she’s hiding something big that will end up breaking Mia’s heart more than it already is.

I recently watched a video interview of Meredith Mccoy. In this video, she explained why she didn't come back for DBZ Kai: Besides being a VA, Meredith also does church work. Around the time Kai came to the states and started its dub, she had to do missionary work in the middle east, which made her unable to be in Kai. So obviously Funimation resorted to Colleen Clinkenbeard, a VA who was physically closer to them. I just wanted to drop this tidbit of 18 info on you, if you don't mind. While I still have mixed feelings on Colleen taking over 18 in Kai, I am quite glad that the change in casting was because of the original actress just not being able to do so and not any studio drama, which unfortunately happens in this industry. And for a noble cause. I'll drop the video in case you wish to view it (Around the 22:40 Mark).
