It’s been 1 day and I’ve already rewatched all four episodes of Vampire Academy! Was it the same as the books? No. But did I still absolutely love it? Fuck yes I did!

I’d always had the view in my mind that it was going to be more like fan fiction and as an OG fan of the books I’m actually so glad it’s not the same! It means I’m on the edge of my seat no knowing what will happen next and they’ve been able to expand on Richelle Meads world to show us more than just Rose’s perspective on everything.

I love it and I can’t wait to see where this season takes us!!!

There’s something to be said for creating new storylines and switching up the plot, especially so it’s more digestible for television.

It’s another thing to alter the plot so completely for “shock value” that it becomes something else entirely. And to change the characters’ personalities to the point where they are unrecognizable and quite frankly unlikeable at times.

I found it very easy to “go with the flow” and just be along for the ride during the first 7 or so episodes.

But these plot holes are exhausting and the lack of cohesion and closure for plot points they brought forth is annoying and make it difficult to enjoy the show.

I hope we get a season 2, and hope that the writers have more time to make quality plot lines while staying true to the characters we adore so much as fans. I have no doubt that it can be done, but they need to focus and stop trying to shock us every 10 minutes.
