Purple Cress

Cardamine douglassii

Also known as Limestone Cress, this species in the mustard family features clusters of light purple flowers in early spring and can be found in wet and swampy forests with calcium carbonate rich soils. It's native to parts of the eastern United States and southern Ontario, Canada.

The plants I photographed are part of an isolated population remaining in a tiny bottomland forest remnant in St. Charles County, Missouri. Unfortunately, the rest of the forest has been lost due to suburban sprawl and what little of it remains has many invasive species, including winter creeper, callery pear, and japanese honeysuckle trying to encroach from surrounding developments and outcompete native plants like this one.

Option 1: block the bottom of the railway station and turn it into a mini-mall.

Option 2: leave it open as an interesting space to walk through.

I should maaaaaybe not have decided to go for a 3 mile walk home... In shoes 👟 I've owned less than a week.

Also the first three mile ANYTHING in months

I was that guy I call out as an idiot, when I see them no sunscreen 🧴 no sun 🤠 hat, I did have water, which was good, I needed that

Probably mild sunburn, definitely new blisters under my foot calluses. Argh 😫

My poor wittle tender feets!

But, I've gotta start walking 3 miles if I wanna be able to walk 3 miles generally, and I do wanna do that.

I will however take advantage of the ride the repair shop offers, to go BACK for my car.

Voidball works very hard to be good at parkour and gymnastic stuff so they can pull off super flashy stunts during their fights with Robin.

would've had this one done yesterday but i've been hit with the nastiest cold known to man so i cant really draw right now. blast!! at least i have this time to plan some stuff out :)
