Amphibiuary is Upon Us friends! here's my entry for day 1 - a lil frog, riding an Olm dragon! this was done with gouache on some really nice paper from a local art shop! I don't do much physical painting so i'm excited to give it a try this month!!

Every muscle in Carlos' body freezes. Very slowly, he puts the glass down on the counter, his eyes never leaving the man. The man he recognises. He's in the same outfit as earlier, a plain sweatshirt and jeans. His hair is tousled and free of blood this time, his eyes bright and colourful. Except he can't be here, in Carlos' home, sitting on his goddamn couch and looking at him with curiosity, like he's anticipating Carlos' next reaction. Carlos' mind is playing tricks on him, he's working too hard, he's seeing things. Because there is absolutely no way that Tyler Kennedy Strand, the man who's dead body Carlos saw today, is sitting on his couch.

I do honestly feel like there are some strong vibes that Laudna AND Imogen are doomed by some kind of narrative and I hope the fandom can be fucking normal about things if that comes to fruition. Imogen is being literally consumed by her powers and Laudna has opened the door again to a power that has shown itself capable of controlling her, however small the scale. It is entirely possible that the two of them will make it out unscathed, whole, with real futures ahead of them. Absolutely.

It is also true that 65 episodes have led to this point that is practically a precipice for them both and if people start crying about how it's homophobic or whatever if one of them doesn't make it out or if they go down together, I'm sorry but that is a you problem. So many shippers have not only been making up the nature of their relationship since day one, they've been pretending it's this wholesome and sweet thing that could never go wrong because women's love is soooo pure and I'm telling you, as a lesbian, the potential is staring us in the face with these two more than the rest of the party that they are headed into real darkness and that is a choice Laura and Marisha are making that is true to their characters. Do not fucking repeat beauj*s about this. Grow from that. Be better.

Maybe they'll be great and fine! Maybe there's a richer story being set up when two characters are swept up in things bigger than them within an even bigger apocalypse and sometimes those come with tragedy. That's not homophobia, queerbaiting, or any of the other deeply rude and frankly delusional things said last campaign, that's an ending you don't like.

(the refutation to this, of course, is that for better or worse CR has a strong habit of righting every wrong and diverting from the darker course no matter what. But if Laura and/or marisha decide they want this to be a tragedy, you're going to have to be okay with the fact that it's going to be a great story that is very sad. Matt is right there to course correct if that's what they want, anytime. But they might not have that planned.)

I'm only halfway through The Crown of Gilded Bones, and the fact that Cas and Poppy have to go wake up granddaddy Nyktos is making me so giddy. Like, obviously I can't wait for Sera and Poppy to eventually meet, but I feel like Nyktos and Poppy are honestly more similar and could have a very special bond. Meanwhile, I think Casteel and Sera are either going to hate each other or immediately be ride-or-die besties for life.

so funny to me that jenny doesn’t regenerate or anything, she just comes right back to life as the same person. girl how’d you do that.

#no but how’d she do that. why doesn’t jenny have to follow time lord rules.#why’s she function on jack harkness logic. how does she work. fascinated by her.#does this imply that the regeneration ability as we see it isn’t actually like. inherent to the doctor. at least not the way they regenerate #now. because jenny is specifically cloned from the doctor. not another time lord. them specifically.#which. so why doesn’t she get regeneration with that. why does she just get to come back to life.#idk where im going with this. something about this implies to me that regenerstion as it is. is not. how it naturally would be?#that the changing of faces is something that came later. that was added. to a more simple process of dead -> alive again.#possibly as a protective measure? because there’s only so much life one body. one mind. can take before it begins to break under the strain #of it all. in a way regenerations function as compartmentalization of all that time and trauma. but if you didn’t have that you’d have to #hold it all in you at once forever. so it would make sense for regenerations to be engineered specifically in response to that problem.#and so the doctor regenerates. but jenny. cloned. got the original code for regeneration somehow. the one that doesn’t involve a change of #face. so she just comes back to life. idk. just tossing ideas out there i guess. i like jenny :)
